Meknes in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Meknes, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Meknes is one of Morocco’s historic imperial cities, known for its monumental city gates, massive defensive walls and grand plazas built under Sultan Moulay Ismaïl. Visitors can explore the vast Heri es-Souani granaries and stables, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismaïl, and the bustling medina with its traditional souks. The city offers a more relaxed atmosphere than nearby Fez while still showcasing rich Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship. Meknes also makes a convenient base for visiting the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun.
With favorites like Bab El Mansour Laalej, Bassin Souani صهريج السواني, and Place Lalla Aouda, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Asma and Palais salma so you can get the best taste of Meknes while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Meknès Train Station

3.4
(2166)
Railroad company
Meknès Train Station is a stop on the train line connecting Marrakech, Rabat, Fes, and beyond. The trains are known for being affordable and comfortable. First class offers a more comfortable experience, especially if you have lots of luggage. The station itself is clean and open 24 hours with various destinations available. It has an old-world charm with Moroccan wall designs that make for great photo opportunities. Inside, there's a small shop to purchase snacks.
Clean and very nice train station. Open 24 hours for various destinations. The only challenging part is that the train boarding time is very time sensitive. Train may also be delayed.
David B — Google review
Walked here from the medina to find out some ticket information. Great country railway feel. Staff were helpful and understanding. There is a park across the road and cafes nearby
Kevin C — Google review
I arrived here & struggled up & down 2 long flights of stairs with 25kg of luggage to exit the platform. A female passenger assisted me going up the final stairs & I assisted her as well. On departing a few days later the ticket checker at the platform entrance again directed me to use the stairs. After the stair “workout” I was sitting on my platform & noticed a few metres on the Fes side, a footpath across the rail lines where I could have crossed with my wheelie bags. There is no lift but this would have saved a hernia. Bad communication & signage by the railway staff
Kerry S — Google review
Building is so big yet the station itself is small and only got 3 seats to rest on Meknes al amir is better
Eclipse — Google review
The station is small but clean and the staff are helpful. There are waiting areas covered for bad weather
Youssef B — Google review
it does not rise for the citizen of this city it's unfair for a historical city like meknes to have this poor train station hope there will be changement in the future
Zakaria S — Google review
People are ok. The train station is old and security needs some help. More police presence would be good.
GSHK L — Google review
Ok ,there is a coffee and kiosk .all you need , outside of train station are taxis , not really friendly .

Transportation service
CTM is a popular bus company in Morocco that offers a convenient way to travel between cities like Fez and Meknes. While the train is an option, some find it slow and uncomfortable, except for the high-speed route between Casablanca and Tangier. Travelers have found CTM buses to be comfortable with pleasant trips, making them a preferred choice over trains. The service provides all necessary amenities for a smooth journey, ensuring passengers' needs are met throughout their travels.
CTM bus company in Morocco exceeded my expectations! Their buses were clean, comfortable, and punctual. The staff was friendly and professional, ensuring a smooth journey. The routes covered breathtaking landscapes, and the fares were reasonable. Highly recommended for a fantastic travel experience!

Good in every way
Ayano K — Google review
On time, relatively clean, a/c was functioning, but the reading lights were not. Could have better stop stations thought. For long trip, the bus should stop at places with proper washrooms/toilets
Abdelghani — Google review
I like the services of ctm they have good buses and good driver the thing that i don't like about ctm is the station they even don't have something to eat or drink u need to go out and when u stop at the road for some rest the go for a higher price station to buy what to eat but there soo bad why u don't stop at some good places and cheap
Hamza J — Google review
Very nice and secure experience
Anas Z — Google review
I removed 2 stars because the agencies where the bus stops don't have food courts, therefore, the traveler needs to bring food before departure. Also, the A/C is so cold and it s placed on top of your head so wearing warm clothing doesn t help you need a hat as well. Other than that, the timing is accurate and there is no delays.

French Institute of Meknes

4.3
(504)
Cultural center
The French Institute of Meknes is a hub for language and cultural enthusiasts in Morocco. While Arabic is the official language, French is widely spoken, especially in urban areas. The institute's staff members are highly praised for their friendliness and professionalism, creating a welcoming environment for visitors. In addition to supporting cultural events, the institute offers a quiet library space that's perfect for studying during cold weather. Visitors also appreciate the beautiful garden and concert hall on the premises.
The best staff you could ever meet! They respect you, value punctuality, and treat everyone equally—no discrimination or disrespect. They don’t care about your financial status or background; they genuinely give you their time and attention. Highly recommended!

Quite overrated: Inflated price. Service only good when you are registering, not when you are in need of something. No homework or extra-curricular activities take place. I think maybe they used to be better or are better elsewhere. But this one in Meknes, completely failed my expectations..

The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, an 18th-century Islamic architectural marvel, is a significant tourist attraction in Meknes. It was constructed to honor the city's founder and houses the tomb of Sultan Moulay Ismail. The complex features stunning fountains, intricate geometric designs, and a sundial. While non-Muslims are allowed in the outer parts of the mausoleum, only Muslims can approach the actual tomb.
Beautiful Moroccan Islamic architecture. One of the few places accessible to non Muslims to appreciate the intricate beauty of the zellige tile work up close
Anand V — Google review
Beautiful mausoleum with intricate carvings. It's free to enter, but it wasn't too busy. You need to take off your shoes to enter the burial chamber.
Suciani A — Google review
A must see when you visit Meknes. They are closed during lunchtime, reopening around 3pm (when we visited it was 3.05-ish…). Not that much to see in the courtyards leading to the Mausoleum, but the Mausoleum is really spiritual. Leave your shoes outside and sit on a carpet and let the room inspire you.
Michael K — Google review
Certainly worth seeing when you are in Meknès, the entrance is free. Note that the working hours on google are incorrect. I went on a Sunday, and they closed the doors behind me at 12h30 for a lunchtime break until 15h.
Sebastian K — Google review
Great place! It is not only important for religion, but also for Alawite dynasty. There is no entrance fee, but it is nice to leave some money for the conservation of the site to immam (having custody over the mausoleum).Modest dress is required (for men and women). To enter the last part you habe to take your shoes off and leave themnoutside. It is closed from 12h00 to 15h00.

Nestled in a charming narrow alley of the Medina, Restaurant Dar Baraka stands out as a must-visit culinary gem in Meknes. Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed by the owner, Mr. Noureddine, who takes pride in personally guiding you through the menu. The restaurant exudes an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a colorful Moroccan family home, complete with cozy seating that enhances its authentic vibe.
A hidden gem and fantastic vegetarian food in town. This was perhaps the best restaurant experience during our trip in Morocco. Family Owned restaurant, very unassuming, yet had beautiful decor inside and a service that was top notch. All dishes are cooked to perfection, and totally worth the wait.
Kaushik K — Google review
Incredible hidden gem at the heart of the old Medina. Food was an absolute bang for the money, the place is magical and service is exceptional. 100% recommended, do NOT miss your chance.
Mathieu V — Google review
Its a family owned and managed restaurant! It’s a very unforgettable experience. We felt like at home! The owner was very accommodating and nice! Very good atmosphere and the food was very excellent! You can really feel that it was made with care and love! We ordered zalouk, pastillas, camel meatballs tajin, couscous. Will really come back here if we get a chance! 🫶🏻
Shaira D — Google review
We had a nice evening there and had a nice chat with Mr. Latrache. Be sure to bring a bit of patience. You may have to knock one or twice as the owner might be upstairs and not hear you right away. Our patience was rewarded with very tasty meals and some travel advices. If we were longer in Merzouga, we would definitely eat there again to try more dishes. For our taste everything was well seasoned and the Tajin was blazingly hot when served.
Thomas W — Google review
One of the best restaurants of my trip to Morocco. Delicious food, hidden and intimate, social and kind host, well decorated, fair priced. Find the door and knock.
Jer T — Google review
Classic Moroccan foods and oh so good. We had the chicken with lemon tagine and the pastille and two starter salads. Everything was so tasty and fresh and the owner was the most hospitable gentleman who served us. We felt like we were visiting and eating at our friend’s house. This was probably the best meal we’ve had in the last five days since we arrived In Morocco.
EK H — Google review
We went at 4:30pm, but we’re still able to be seated. Don’t be fooled that the door is closed, you just have to knock! The vegetarian dishes were better than the meat ones. But we really enjoyed the Berber special which was couscous with chicken and chickpeas. Highly recommend, it’s sweet but unique. We also tried camel for the first time, which was very interesting. The dish itself was lovely, but the taste for camel is not for us, but I’m glad to have tasted it. Above the food the owner, is the most wonderful man. He speaks no English, but we managed to converse and feel right at home with our broken French!
Asmithaa P — Google review
Here’s a perfect restaurant that feels like home! I felt like I was eating in my grandma’s home literally. The food was soooo good it melted in my mouth! The owner was very hospitable and they even gave me complementary dessert. Will return every time I’m in Meknes! A must-try restaurant 💚

Asma, a delightful Moroccan eatery located in the vicinity, offers an array of delectable dishes. The standout element from the meal is undoubtedly the bread, which exudes a rich and flavorsome aroma and taste. Sourced from a neighboring baker, it enhances the overall dining experience. The cooked salad comprising chickpeas, bell pepper, lentils, and eggplant is nothing short of delicious. Each ingredient is thoughtfully served separately for optimal enjoyment.
Another lovely Moroccan restaurant in the neighborhood. What I will remember from my meal is the bread. Smelled and tasted rich and flavorful. Brought from the neighboring baker. The cooked salad (chickpeas, bell pepper, lentils, and eggplant each served separately) was delicious. Tagine and couscous were as good as hoped or expected. Price was reasonable. Very nice service
M L — Google review
Food is good, but as in basic local place, not as in restaurant. For this kind of place it is overpriced and you don't feels like in restaurant. Portions also not to large for price
Sugni I — Google review
The food is basic and overpriced for a restaurant, charged 20 MAD for a bottle of water. The Rifissa tajine is basically a quarter chicken with curry. I usually give a tip but charging that much for not even cold water is no acceptable.
Muthana J — Google review
I highly recommend this restaurant!! We enjoyed the traditional food and the calm, traditional music so much that we came again the day after to enjoy this beautiful moroccan lunch experience once more. The owner is incredibly friendly and nice and gives you a very welcoming atmosphere. 5 stars, well deserved!!
León C — Google review
We ordered a chicken pastilla and a tajine with meatballs (harira was not available at lunch time). The pastilla was more and less ok, but the tajine was uneatable (dry meatballs with almost no sauce). The owner is nice, but the restaurant itself is very basic and the food not really tasty. Definitely not worth the price you are paying(around 70 MAD for tajine or pastilla).
H. A — Google review
Great food, good people and good atmosphere. I ate here twice during my stay in Meknès. The owner took the time to explain dishes and make suggestions. I was able to try some preparations I had not yet tasted before. I was satisfied each time and the price is fair. Emphasis on good people - I had some enriching conversations with the owner.

Best moroccan restaurant! Delicious dishes in a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The owner is very kind and he'll help you in the choice of amazing food. The warm bread is one the best we found in Morocco. Highly recommended!

I don't have any photos because I devoured the food quickly. During my week-long trip in Morocco, I had the most exceptional tagine at Palais Salma. My husband opted for the chicken with lemon and olives, while I chose the lamb with vegetables. The meat portions were generous compared to other places that served smaller portions with bones. The tenderness of both the meat and vegetables was unparalleled.
Fell in love with Moroccan hospitality because of this restaurant ♥️ The service was top notch, we were even served sweets on the house. The food was heart warming and scrumptious paired with reasonable pricing! Personally I would go for the pastilla and tajine, so good. The restaurant was accessible and was tidy with great views from the rooftop seating. Highly recommend!
Tricia L — Google review
"Palais Salma" restaurant, decorated with a traditional touch, is spread over several floors and offers a beautiful view of the square opposite from its terrace. The menu contains Moroccan and international dishes (including pasta and pizza). My wife and I ordered chicken shawarma. The meat was good and flavorful. The side dish of rice, carrots, zucchini, and potatoes was cold, though. The service was friendly and attentive, but quickly came under pressure when several travel groups arrived.
Efff. E — Google review
Tourist Trap! Restaurant to Avoid in Morocco! This restaurant serves 2 different menus, for the tourist one the price is doubled up with only 2 meal sets to choose! After I placed the order, I realised there was another menu. I asked the staff to bring me that menu, he was reluctant to do so and kept telling me that one was more expensive. I need to ask him for the menu again and I could eventually see that ordinary menu. Although the price was relatively high comparing with other local restaurants, that was a full menu with all single food items I can choose. The first one I got that had no choice and expensive! Finally, I decided to leave right away! It’s the shame on Morocco!
Eddie L — Google review
A lovely multi-level restaurant with a rooftop terrace. I’m sure this is a drop off spot for tours but a good one. We met the recent new owner who was very appreciative of the positive guest remarks. Friendly & helpful servers. We enjoyed the terrace in the sun on a gorgeous afternoon in March. We enjoyed a lunch feast of Moroccan salad, Moroccan soup- Harira, lamb tagine with vegetables, lamb tagine with prunes, espressos, mint tea & a sweets assortment. Beautifully prepared dishes with excellent quality ingredients & the best lamb quality that we had in the region. Vegetables cooked to tenderness yet not soft mush as other dishes we had previously. Our lunch all together was 365MAD, beyond fair pricing for the quantity & quality we enjoyed. Highly recommend a stop.

We visited Restaurant Denver and had a positive experience. One of us ordered a double smash burger while the other opted for a beef sandwich. The sandwich was exceptional, and although the burger wasn't exactly what we expected in terms of being a traditional smash burger, it still impressed us with its high-quality ingredients and generous portion size. The restaurant itself had a cozy ambiance with good vibes, making it an enjoyable place to dine.
Very good place. Taste like what u expect American food to taste like. The vibe is insanely good tho. Prices are a bit too high but the vibe decoration and costumer service makes up for it. I recommend very good place.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent—really appreciated the friendly staff! The only downside was the music being too loud, which made it hard to have a conversation. Still, overall a great experience and definitely a place I’d recommend

I ordered the killer burger , and my friend took a Cesar salad , that was the worst burger I've never ever tasted before , the ground beef patty was with no taste at all , cuz it was frozen 100% , the bun was burned with no flavor , I was expecting a brioche bun , the mushroom was squishy , with no taste . So I tried to take a bite from my friend salad , and the lettuce was Warm , even the yellow submarine cocktail was warm , with no creation , it was my second time on this restaurant and I'll never go back again .

The restaurant is nice, but it's not a good choice if you're looking for a quiet place. The staff limited our choices in a way that I found disrespectful. They said things like, "We can't bring you that without this," "We don't serve that on Sundays," and "We don't serve drinks at this time of day." It felt like they were accusing me of doing something wrong by asking for what I wanted. I won't be going back.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Bassin Souani صهريج السواني, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bab el-Khemis. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Bassin Souani, also referred to as Hri Swani or Sahrij Swani, is a remarkable historical site nestled in the heart of Meknes. This expansive water reservoir, measuring an impressive 320 meters in length and nearly 150 meters wide, was constructed during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 16th century. Originally designed to provide water for the city and its lush gardens, it now serves as a serene retreat where visitors can unwind and soak in picturesque views.
Very relaxing area. One side had a little carnival set up so the kids would have some thing fun to do. There were vendors out as well so you could get snacks, tea, or even soup. No public restrooms though. Great place to go if you just want to relax, enjoy the water or walk laps!

Like other monuments I visited in Morroco it's almost impossible to understand how it was used when active because there are no explanations at all inside and unless you want to pay to a "guide" on top of the entrance ticket you won't understand much of it. The entrance is 70MAD and 10 min are more than enough to visit it.
Davide J — Google review
Grandiose place especially when you learn that more than 12,000 horses used to be kept there. You'll appreciate the thickness of the walls and the ever present cat.

Impressive granaries, stables (12k horses) and water basin of Moulay Ismail with original ceder wood doors. Catch a taxi or calèche from the mausoleum

You can visit the stables where thousands of Moulay Ismail horses were kept. This powerful sultan transformed the city of Meknes into an imperial capital and you can appreciate the grandiosity and power of this 17th century sultan.

Monument
Dar El-Makhzen دار المخزن is a stunning architectural gem that you can explore on foot. While the guards don't allow photography of themselves, they are accommodating when it comes to capturing the beautiful gates. The intricate design and enchanting ambiance make it a must-visit destination.
Beutiful architect, there is no problem with guards if you wanna take some pictures It's better to visited on your feet
Zakaria S — Google review
Neat mausoleum, with one slight issue to be hopefully adressed: carpets and rugs inside need to be cleaned more often and visitors should be required to bring fresh socks with them, so that the custom of walking barefoot in the venerable place does not collide with hygene.
Jakub G — Google review
You can only walk around And take pictures Of the gates. The guards have no problem with taking photos of the gates but first ask them because it's not allowed to capture them in the photos. I asked them if I could take a photo they asked me to wait in order to get out of the frame and then I took the photo without any problem.

Bab El Mansour Laalej, situated in the historic city of Meknes, is a must-see attraction in Morocco. This magnificent gate, constructed in the 18th century by Sultan Moulay Ismail, showcases stunning Islamic architecture and serves as the main entrance to the lively medina. Standing at an impressive 16 meters high, it is considered a symbol of the city and one of North Africa's most remarkable gateways.
The newly refurbished gates are the very best in Morocco. Across from the gates are a line of local eateries that are awesome to sip tea and take in every detail of the gates as time flows

5 Stars – An Unforgettable Desert Experience! Staying at Merzouga Paradise Luxury Camp was truly the highlight of our trip to Morocco! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. The tents were spotless, beautifully decorated, and surprisingly comfortable—with real beds, private bathrooms, and even hot showers! The food was absolutely delicious—freshly cooked Moroccan dishes served under the stars by the campfire. The camel ride at sunset through the golden dunes was magical, and the Berber music around the fire at night created memories we’ll never forget. What really sets this place apart is the team. They treated us like family, always checking if we needed anything and sharing their culture with pride. We felt safe, relaxed, and completely disconnected from the noise of the world. If you’re looking for a peaceful, authentic, and luxurious desert experience—this is the place. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Merzouga!

Khemis Gate, also known as Bab Lakhmis, is a renowned monument in Meknes. Built in 1686, it served as the Western entrance to the city of the Amber Garden. Despite the city's eventual destruction, this gate remains remarkably preserved amidst its ruins. Currently undergoing restoration, it stands as a picturesque and historic site that attracts tourists and offers opportunities for exploration and photography.

Bab Lakhmis is an imposing gate that used to be the Western entrance of the city of the Amber Garden -Madinat Ar-Riad Al Anbari, built in the 17th century by order of Moulay Ismail. In those times, it was a beautiful city, but sadly, it was destroyed less than a century after by Moulay Abdellah, Moulay Ismail's successor. Today, only ruins remain, yet the Bab Lakhmis gate is wonderfully preserved. The Bab Lakhmis gate is decorated with bright colors, friezes with interlaced patterns and Kufic writings. For instance, you can read these sentences: “I am the gate open to every people, whether Occidental or Oriental” and “I am the joyful gate of the same splendor as the full-moon in the sky. I was built by Moulay Ismail. Fortune and prosperity are engraved in my frontage, I am surrounded by bliss” translate the sultan's ambition and open-mindedness. The gate is framed with massive walls and two crenelated towers. A little advice from Hertz Morocco: rent an inexpensive car to discover the region of Fez and the Medina of Meknes where you can admire the infamous Bab Lakhmis gate. Bab Lakhmis is a majestic gate built in the 17th century in Meknes, not far from Fez. To admire this historic site and visit Morocco easily, think about renting a car. Area map: Bab Lakhmis gate in Meknes To go there: car rental Fez or car rental Fez airport (Hertz Morocco Fez car rental agencies).

Pavillon Des Idrissides is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while enjoying stunning views over El Hedim Square from its privileged position. It's also a popular spot for snacks and light meals, perfect for those wanting to take in all Meknes has to offer.
This is one of the greatest place in the old medina where you can enjoy your time and spend great moments, it is beautiful spot located in lahdim square, an extraordinary restaurant and cafe, the have a good service, the waiters deal so great with the clients, if you are a visitor to Meknes city it would be a fantastic idea to pass by and experience this spot, i am sure that wouldn't be missing... thank you good job

The idea of having a terrace is nice, but what is this terrace overlooking? Mainly a crowded shopping square. I did not like it much. Had a black coffee and tea. Nothing special. You pay 15 MD for entry. I guess that gets you one drink. Seemed popular

Aleksander R — Google review
Though the food is good it's overpriced. 70 dh for tagine, 40 for salade marocaine? Too much. You pay for the view
Danis S — Google review
It pays to enter to enjoy the interior decoration. On the terrace of the building there is a café with a terrace, with a good view over the square.
Jose T — Google review
The worst place i’ve ever been. They last 2hours to serve our food, then they serve first the taijin, then the soup, but just 4instead 6, the water cames 30mins after. We have to ask for bread 8 times. The last thing was that the waiter throw a hot tea all over a friend and they didn’t even apologize, instead, they want to charge that the on the bill. Also, the food was not tasty, so so dry NOT RECOMENDED, AWARE OF THIS PLACE. Its my 4th time here and i cant even thought about something like this place
David G — Google review
The terrace above has a very pleasant view over the central square. However, the service is terrible (especially at the 'ticket desk' bellow which moan about having to produce any sort of change) and the prices more than a bit inflated. Worth one visit around sunset for tea and to look over the view, but on no account should you buy any of their food.

3.5 stars. The view is great here and the mint tea is amazing! The grilled meat (turkey) was good - portion a bit small. The chicken tagine was ok - a bit dry - but good with the sauce.

If you find yourself in Meknes, make sure to stop by l3chir, a bustling eatery favored by locals. This hidden gem offers authentic dishes at prices that won't break the bank—like their chicken and chips with rice for just 30 dirhams (around $2.50). While the chicken might be a tad dry, the overall quality and quantity of food are impressive for such an affordable spot.

One or two years ago, this place was good, the food was delicious and the vibes were fine, but now it’s such a disappointment, the waiters are VERY RUDE and the whole place is unsafe and DIRTY almost all the time which brings flies and bad smells, stray cats and homeless people. I do not recommend!
Hicham M — Google review
Good place. Busy with locals so this is always a good sign. Prices are what locals pay - no inflated tourist prices here. Chicken and chips with rice was 30 dirhams = £2.50. Can't be beaten. Chicken was a bit dry though. Ate here twice. Defo recommend it if you're in Meknes. Also the actual main sitting is downstairs so don't be put off by the small exterior. I was a bit disappointed they wouldn't swap the chips and rice with simple salad.

Nestled in the heart of Meknes, Restaurant Omnia is a delightful family-run gem that has captured the hearts of many travelers. The menu boasts an array of traditional Moroccan dishes, including mouthwatering tagine, fluffy couscous, and hearty harira soup. Guests rave about the exceptional slow-cooked meat tagine and insist that trying the pastilla is essential.
We've been in Marocco for over a week now and this was the most delightful experience so far. The chef took her time to ask what we like, explained the dishes to us and even modified our dishes to our liking. The service was attentive and polite, the ambience was delightful and the food absolutely delicious. If we are ever again in Meknes, we are definitely coming back! BTW, a 3 course menu will go for 120 DH. And the restaurant changed its name to Dar Nia ;)

Hidden gem in Meknes among the tourist traps! Amazing food. Ordered Harira, Rfisaa chicken and mint tea. Everything was tasty. Best harissa and best mint tea so far. Aisha is a very welcoming host. The ambience is so warm and authentic. The washbasin is so pretty too!
Sameera M — Google review
A little hole in the wall place, it is a superb restaurant with superb authentic Moroccan food. We ordered Chicken Pastilla, Beef Tajine, Chicken Rfissa, Beef Couscous, Lamb Rice. The Pastilla is so good, a mix of sweet, salty chicken and almond with a hint of cinnamon. The Chicken Rfissa was so tasty and tender, literally falling off the bones. Rice was very tasty but a bit hard, lamb was super tender. For the beef couscous, again very tasty but the couscous was a bit wet from the juice of the meat. The last dish beef vegetable tagine was tender and overflowing with the juices from the vegetables and beef. The bonus was the bread was soft and fluffy which went really well with the beef tagine soup.

It was an unparallelled experience in Riad in the heart of the old city of Meknes, where they received us in the best way and gave us tea and some local sweets. Meknes is a much quieter and peaceful places than most of the other Medinas in the country. If you need a break from the grind of the Medinas, Meknes is a good place to go for a little peace and quiet. Also, breakfast is very good here

The Riad Zahraa is a historical building converted into a beautiful Riad offering adequate rooms, a roof top balcony, a small swimming/paddle pool. The hotel is located in the Madinah of Meknès and is accessible either through the bottom route (very difficult to navigate) or the top entrance through the baab (first left and then two rights). The riad manager Abdul Haq is very professional and the riad itself has previously won awards for cleanliness upon which it prides itself. The rooms are cheap and come with all the necessities one would expect from a Moroccon Riad. There is a cost for tea and food is slightly pricey (possibly to compensate for the price of the rooms). The breakfast is very good. The Riad also has some antique furniture and doors displayed which the guests are able to appreciate. The roof balcony offers a cluttered view of Meknès due to the proximity of the many other buildings. Although difficult to find and navigate to and from, it is a gem that is worth the money.

Very filthy area; however, this Medina has a much calmer and more peaceful place than Tangier of Fes Medina's

Madrasa Bou Inania is a stunning medersa located in the heart of Meknes, Morocco. Built in the 14th century, this Merinid-era structure boasts intricate mosaics and beautifully carved wooden interiors. The medersa has been well-preserved, with its rich zellige tile decorations still intact.
This 14th-century university college has a fine, elegant decoration that covers every courtyard (ceiling, floor and wall) and combines three basic materials - cedar wood, stucco and mosaic. All this creates a harmonious whole. The first floor is surrounded by modest student cells. The roof overlooks the city.
Dana J — Google review
Beautiful madrasa with a lovely courtyard. Not much to see apart from it, though. Entry fee is quite cheap so it's worth it
Côme B — Google review
It's a must see in Meknes! Amazing mosaics, decorative stucco, wooden cedar wood ceilings and fantastic view from the terrace. It's very well preserved and it gives you the feeling that it wasn't very long ago the last time that it was in use. It has 26 rooms cells each hosted two students so 52 in total. The students were confined in this room during all the revisions of the Holy Koraan with only water, bread and olives as a meal.
Emmanouil Z — Google review
beautiful interior (a little bit aged and cracks on tiles could be spotted), good rooftop view. There are small rooms on the top floor that you can overlook at the courtyard. there’s a room at the end of the corridor at the second floor that can look at the market.
Natalie Y — Google review
Inside the Madrasa was beautiful. The small details in the wood and stone is stunning. The rooftop also provided an amazing view of Meknès. Tickets for adults are 60 Durham, free entry for Moroccans. Some of the walls in the classrooms and living quarters could use refurbishing. Overall, seeing Madrasa Bou Inania was a cool experience.

I’m giving it four stars because it’s pretty... €6 to get in No info given Old man with no teeth can only say “I don’t understand” in French... not much else. Felt frustrated at the lack of renovation, no information. It seems to be a thing here in Morocco. Rip non Moroccans off...

Really pretty madrasa but to be honest the entrance is quite expensive. 6 euros.

Antique store
The Berber and Jewish art gallery is a hidden gem in the bustling souks and plazas of Morocco. It offers a unique glimpse into daily life with its bustling vegetable market. Visitors have described it as a fantastic store filled with ancient local craftsmanship, making it an obligatory stop outside the usual tourist itineraries. The owner is known for being extremely friendly and knowledgeable, providing a warm welcome and sharing valuable insights about the art pieces on display.
We came across this charming antique shop in the Medina and found the most stunning earrings. They have a great selection of antique pieces with natural stones, silver The owner was so friendly and passionate about every piece. A must-visit in Meknes
Moustapha B — Google review
Very cool and unique trinkets + handmade and artistic metal items like tea pots, jewelry, bowls, lamps, daggers, etc. The owner of the shop is an artisan and is VERY proud of his work - he will talk your ear off (in the best way) haha! There are A LOT of cool things to look at, many items look very vintage and have interesting religious significance. This is certainly a place you can find a unique trinket / gift / souvenir for any type of person. The shop is also a great setting for any vintage Arabian-Boho type photo shoot, as it exemplifies the unique beauty of Moroccan markets! If you find yourself in the Souks off of Lahdim Square - be sure to stop by!

Dar Jamai Museum, located in an ornate 1882 palace surrounded by lush gardens, showcases a striking display of traditional crafts and textiles. Originally the stately home of the influential Jamai family, it later served as a military hospital and court before being converted into a museum in 1920. The collection includes 14th-century ceramics, jewelry, textiles, traditional costumes, and impressive cedar wood crafts.
This was one of the best heritage museums I've been to in my years of travelling. I loved how interactive the displays were and it showed the true essence of Moroccan culture. They had audio plug-ins you could listen too and the displays were available in English as well. It was peaceful but at the same time a delight to the senses as the halls were filled with Berber music in the background and chirping birds in the garden. The whole museum was very clean and the staff were polite and helpful. This was the highlight of my visit in Meknes. Thank you team ♥️
Tricia L — Google review
I shamefully admit that the exhibition of Moroccan musical instruments wasn’t entirely my thing, but worth seeing just for the beautiful building. Entry tickets are Dhs 30 and they have clean toilets.

First time visiting the Traditional Music Museum Dar Jamai in Meknes even though I was born and raised here! Sometimes we forget to explore the beauty in our own hometown. The architecture, the instruments, the history… everything was so beautiful and inspiring. Proud of my city 🖤
Zineb M — Google review
A lovely museum offering great insights to the musical history and traditions. Beautifully designed in an older style private mansion the gardens are beautiful and the artworks are displayed so each piece can be explained. Located next to the main market square there are plenty of experiences to explore during the visit. Enjoy
J N — Google review
Great museum in the central square of Meknes. A wonderful place to escape the noise and hustle of the square. Beautiful garden and an interesting presentation of history - various traditional costumes, instruments, and an interactive section. A bonus is the architecture, which is in a typical Moroccan style. Definitely worth a visit!
Tsvetelina D — Google review
One of the best cultural museums you’ll go to. Amazingly beautiful historic building, visual and audio exhibits, and lovely garden in the centre. There are so many descriptions about instruments from all o er Morocco and the many different groups of people that make up the diverse population. Only 30 dirhams to enter!

Absolutely fantastic museum, much better than we thought it would be. They have rooms with videos of all the different musical styles from Morocco. And the building itself is more than worth the price of entry which is only €3. We're so glad we came here. It was great!

National Museum of Music: a really amazing museum teaching about local music, using all kinds of media. Instrument exhibitions, sound samples, many videos. Park
Place Lalla Aouda is a public garden and parking area located south of Bab El Mansour. It's a popular spot for local families, especially in the evenings, offering a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the lively Place El Hedim. The well-maintained vegetation and simple square make it a nice place to rest and enjoy some leisure time. Visitors can also park their cars here for a nominal fee, making it convenient for those exploring the area.
Nice parking. We paid 20dh for a night, the staff was friendly, and we paid as soon as we parked.

Parking for the Meknes Medina. Run by "guardians" who require 20MAD per day to park your car. There are 3 X areas and which ever "guardian" you pay, determines were you park. We paid for 2 x days, but were restricted to the one area only, or pay again. (it's not much)

Restaurant Riad Selma is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the medina, offering an unforgettable dining experience. Guests rave about its generous free tapas and delightful Moroccan cuisine, which keeps them coming back for more. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the vibrant streets of Meknes. Visitors appreciate the attentive service provided by Mohamed and his team, who ensure that every need is met with warmth and professionalism.
Not all items on menu are made available. Waited quite long 30min for food (Friday 3pm) but tasty (spicy kafta targine) & nice panoramic rooftop view & welcoming service.

We didn’t stay overnight but came here for lunch, and it was excellent. We started with the traditional Moroccan soup, which is highly recommended, and the other dishes were also delicious. A great place for a meal!

I had a wonderful stay at the riad Selma which is in the center of the medina close to everything.i spent only 2 nights (if i could stay more i would definitely do it but it was my last 2 days of vacation)the communication was fluent from the booking until the end.the guy who i met in the reception who manage the riad (called Mohamed)was really friendly and all ears,he gave me the most important information i could need, the breakfast was yummy in a beautiful cosy terrasse.if i could come back to Meknes i would definitely come at this riad Selma.i highly recommend it!!

This review is for the restaurant, not of the Riad. A very tasty experience at the heart of the Meknes medina. Really beautiful rooftop terrace with 360 views of Meknes. Food very tasty & home cooked. Service very kind and with a smile.
Davide R — Google review
We had lemonade drinks and ate chicken, tomato salad, and bread on the upper terrace. They even brought us additional veggies and olive for free. The view was spectacular but just a bit cold for dinner. I would recommend it!
Diane G — Google review
Ignore the local restaurant ratings on Wanderlog. We stayed in Meknes for two weeks and they placed Selma at 18. Rubbish. It is one of the best for free tapas, the food, location, views, comfort and service. Others listed near the top didn’t deserve to be there because they didn’t serve much tapas or at all, or the ambiance and the food was really ordinary. And we tried lots of them. We ended up eating at Selma’s several times. They do a great job of looking after you.
StayCentral B — Google review
Spent in Riad Selma one night and experienced only good things. Plus: + the location, in the centre of Medina yet close to petit taxi + the spacious room which is in a traditional morrocan building, comfy and big bed, private bathroom with hot water, + uff, breakfast at the rooftop, sunrise… yessss 🫠 + the team! The manager was very helpful all the time, no funny business, very professional. Also saved us from from walking all the way to Volubilis (PS, internet says it’s possible, but - no, taking the bus to the closest village and then walking to the ruins is almost impossible in the sun, the distance is simply too big, take a shared taxi!). Minus: - none really, I guess the room and bathroom could look better, but come on, it’s a clean and well maintained typical morrocan house, not american hotel :)

Gout de Meknes is a charming family-run restaurant that captures the essence of traditional Moroccan cuisine, with dishes crafted by the mother of the house. This kid-friendly spot offers an inviting atmosphere and a rooftop terrace that provides stunning views next to a magnificent mosque. While you may need to climb several flights of stairs to reach it, the breathtaking scenery makes every step worthwhile.

This is a great place to visit for a meal while your in Meknes. The terrace seating is right next to a giant mosque which is so beautiful. Be prepared to go up several flights of stairs for the terrace seating but it's worth every step. The waiter was so incredibly nice and helpful. His food suggestions were some of the most delicious moroccan foods I've tried yet! We ate the beef barkok and the chicken pastilla with powdered sugar on top. Also, the zaalouk was the best I've ever had, I definitely recommend it! The prices were very fair for what you get. 🥰

Food was decent, but not very special. Just another Marrokan restaurant. We had pastilla, tajine chicken citron and kefta. We have lot of eating experience all over Marokko. To bad they get angry when leaving average review instead of taking it serious and make better food.

Restaurant Ya Hala in Meknes is a hidden gem serving delicious and authentic Moroccan cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of mouthwatering dishes that stand out from other Moroccan restaurants. The service is exceptional, with polished table settings and refreshing mint tea while waiting. The restaurant has a cool and nicely decorated space, with the pleasant aroma of fresh bread lingering in the air. The host is gracious, and either his wife or mother cooks the delectable meals.
Amazing local food experience. Great decoration, authentic and amazing hospitality. We took a detour from the group we were going with coming from Fez, who went to a planned restaurant by the agency and we were very glad with the decision.

This place is inside a private house, and you may get doubts after you walk in. Do not judge a book by its cover: food is amazing, home cooked, and very, very, very tasty. Meatballs to die for. Toilet should really be improved hence why 4*.

This is really home made food! The dishes cooks freshly! You have to wait not less than 30 mins while preparing the food! The restuarant is inside a family house .. mean you are eating similar to their food! I don't think you gonna find a place were is really food is cooks (from scratches) when you arrive

Right at the moment we were disappointed with the food in Morocco, this restaurant made it up for us! It looks like a house, just knock on the door with the trip advisor sticker on, or push. A very friendly host will be there soon to greet you and lead you to a very home like space while his mother cooks all the delicious dishes in the menu. It is worth the wait for the food to be prepared, it’s like asking from your mum or grandma to make you something special to eat! We ate the veal tajine and vegetables couscous and both were exceptional! Don’t miss this spot!

Love this place! It's a restaurant run in a house by a mother and son Duo.! Be prepared to wait for at least an hour after you order. Everything is prepared fresh according to your order, it's so worth the wait! We ordered the Veal with prune tagine, Zaalouk(which was to die for) and the Veg couscous. The son was so friendly he even took us to the town square to help us buy a tagine and spices at the rates the locals buy stuff.

This is a truly authentic Moroccan restaurant that will serve couscous not just on Friday as many other restaurants only do. The pastilla is quite good and not greasy at all. All the food is freshly cooked... I saw Abdul coming back from the butcher for a special request. I suggest that you book and order in advance as seating is limited and the waiting time is about 45 minutes for regular meat dishes and 1 hour for lamb. But the semolina is perfect... light not greasy either. Use the land line to call and ask for Abdul as the other phone did not work. Well worth the detour and the wait.

During my two-week adventure in Morocco, I found myself yearning for a break from the traditional tajines and couscous. That's when I stumbled upon Miam's Food in Meknes, a delightful little spot that offered an array of delicious and affordable pizzas. This cozy eatery is perfect for those looking for a quick snack or an economical alternative to local cuisine. Aqualand Water Park, established in 2018, is the largest water park in its country and offers a universe of artificial waves and thrilling water slides. Families can enjoy 12 water attractions and relaxation areas, with kids particularly loving the Space Boat slide and the exciting Spiral Slide. The well-designed slides cater to all ages, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone. While outside food isn't allowed, the on-site restaurant serves delicious meals at reasonable prices.
Aqualand Water Park is a fantastic place for families with kids. The children's areas are colorful, safe, and full of fun water activities. There are plenty of lifeguards, which made us feel at ease, and everything was clean and well maintained. Our kids loved the smaller slides and splash zones. Staff were friendly and great with children. It's a bit on the pricey side, but worth it for a fun and safe day out with the family.

Good fun with the family. All slides are 5/5. Lines are relatively long. You'll have to wait about 5 minutes, but good enough to go for two rounds. The Hamburgers are not amazing. The waiter got our orders wrong twice. Other than that it was a good day.

Heri es-Souani, located in Meknes, Morocco, is a remarkable historical site that showcases Islamic architecture and engineering. Built during the late 17th century by Sultan Moulay Ismail, it served as a storage facility for grain and stables for royal horses. The massive roofless complex with intact arched doorways provides an atmospheric setting to imagine its former use when it housed up to 12,000 horses.

Restaurant Palais Ismailia, located at 5 Ryad Bahia, 4 Tiberbarine in Meknes, is the first riad to open in the area. The owners and staff are fluent in English and provide excellent assistance with organizing tours. Their roof terrace offers a scenic view of Place Hedim, while their restaurant serves both guests and non-guests. The menu features a variety of classic dishes such as tajine, couscous, and skewers.
Palais Ismailia in Meknes is a charming spot in the heart of Meknes, Palais Ismailia offers delicious traditional Moroccan dishes in a beautiful Andalusian style setting, The service is friendly, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the food, especially the tagines, is full of flavor. It is a great place to enjoy authentic Moroccan cuisine.

A strange one for me to review, the food tasted delicious, I enjoyed everything they served. The service was excellent too at a nice table on the rooftop terrace. However, a couple of hours later I was stricken with severe digestion problems. My Northern European constitution could not handle this Moroccon food...

Calf tagine and spicy meatballs. Food was great, but service needs to improve. Suggest having some staff dedicated towards taking orders and managing the rooms. Other staff bringing out orders. Think these will help.
Asif Z — Google review
Excellent, very tasty food - harira and my chicken skewers were exquisite! Speed of light service and wonderful terrace. Menu 15€ that’s true but worth every cent!
Magdalena S — Google review
They only have set menu’s, so I got a bunch of mandatory additions that normally I won’t order. It’s 150DH per set menu, which is ok, but I won’t pay the same price for a main dish (which is the only thing I need), and as a result every dish is at a just-so-so level. We had Tajine and Pastilla, both didn’t impress me. Oh forgot to mention, there’s hardly any chicken in the chicken Pastilla.
Xueyuan W — Google review
It's located in a very touristy area, but the food was great. Good portions and fast service. Cash payment only.

Very obviously touristy location. Pricier and no locals. That said, service was good and I get her menu in English. Set price of 150MAD for four-course lunch, which I thought was pretty decent. Portions were huge. You can also get mains by itself for 100MAD.

Excellent lunch and service, we had the set menu of soup, 4 salads, a Chicken pastilla and a beef tagine. We both had the crème caramel for dessert. 150dir per head.

During my recent culinary adventure at La Maison De La Pizza, I was eager to indulge in their renowned pizzas but found myself equally captivated by their fries. These golden delights were a perfect blend of crispy exterior and fluffy interior, seasoned impeccably and served piping hot. The generous portion size made it hard to resist! While the pizza was undoubtedly delicious, those fries truly stole the spotlight. This charming pizzeria quickly became one of my favorite spots.
I recently visited this pizzeria and decided to try their plate of fries, and I was pleasantly surprised! The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seasoned just right. They were served hot and fresh, and the portion size was generous. While I came for the pizza, the fries definitely stole the show for me. Highly recommend giving them a try if you're here!

Guest house
Dar Zidane is a popular choice for backpackers and solo travelers seeking a comfortable and affordable stay in Meknes. Despite unexpected arrivals causing some chaos, the rooms are quiet and clean, with a copious and fresh-made breakfast served in an elegant room. The property offers the convenience of parking on-site, making it perfect for an overnight stop en route to another location.
Beautiful and peaceful place, the service is excellent and the people are friendly. You feel at home with your family. The breakfast was exquisitely delicious and home made. The garden is full of beautiful flowers and fruit trees where you take your breakfast with singing birds and peacocks’ parade. Strongly recommend it 👍

Excellent choice! We recommend it for the ambience, the breakfast, but most of all the warmhearted staff! Thank you so much!
Angela M — Google review
Patient, accommodating host despite the fact we showed up without warning (all seven of us) not to mention that another unnanounced group showed up at the same time, which led to scenes of chaos and confusion for a while....the rooms were quiet and clean, and breakfast was copious and fresh-made, enjoyed in a large, elegant room. The fact that you can park the car inside the property is a definite plus. Perfect for spending a night en route to another location.
S. U — Google review
Good breakfast, nice garden with some funnily crazy peacocks that dared to fly straight to the top of the three-story building nearby, large room, ample balcony (with some caveats, see below), secure parking. The location was good for me, as I only planned to have a rest stop here on my way to Chefchaouen, but other might find it less convenient, since it is a bit far (some 5 km) from the main attractions of the city. The riad has an enormous potential, but it currently stands significantly below the level it could reach; it looks rather neglected (I am sure that the last two years had a lot to do with this, as many people in the industry felt discouraged to invest effort and money into something that could be shut down indefinitely without warning, but on the other hand no recovery is possible imho if things are just left to spiral down on their own) and in need of some repairs, wall plastering, varnishing and - thinking about the beautiful ceilings in the main lounge - well, dusting. The full-size iron grill that stands in front of the balcony door was closed when we arrived and, judging by how stuck the locks were, I think they haven't been open for quite some time. Which explains the condition of the balcony itself: dusty, with a rusty hacksaw long ago forgotten on a wall and lots of pigeon dung on one side. Ample as it is, and overlooking the green backyard, it would be a perfect place to enjoy the evening. Except that you'd have to enjoy it standing, as there is not even a single chair in all this vastness. A wasted opportunity. No shampoo or shower gel in the bathroom, which was a first for our entire trip in Morocco, desert tent included. When I asked the host about it, her initial response was that there are two soap bars in the bathroom (yes, we had seen them, but washing your hair with regular soap is not the ideal solution); eventually she kindly - although somewhat reluctantly - provided a shampoo (most likely her own). On top of it all, I didn't feel the warmth of the hospitality I encountered anywhere else in the country. Yes, this is a subjective opinion, but I stand by it; the smile of the young lady we met in the morning was the only one that felt welcoming. All in all, with regret I must say that this was by far the worst accommodation out of the 6 I stayed in during our trip.

Perfect place to stay in a quiet place in Meknes. The owners are a very nice family who try to do all they can to please you. Very clean Riad. Very good breakfast. Royal Golf de Meknes is a must-visit attraction in the city, located near other popular sites like Place Hedim and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. The golf course offers an amazing experience for both amateur and professional golfers, with the option to play during the day or at night. While it may be on the pricier side, it's definitely worth a visit for golf enthusiasts from around the world.

incredibly arrogant and dishonest greeting/meeting!!! First we were not taken seriously as players and hardly let in (how prejudiced), then a price and a tee time were agreed for the afternoon. We arrived at the agreed time and suddenly there was no card payment, We then ran 20 minutes to the nearest ATM and the two caddies got ready on the tee. After our return with the appropriate cash, suddenly other prices and additional fees were called!!! Shady management, too bad for the two caddies who were waiting for us at the tee in the sweltering heat and were whistled back!!!! We would have liked to treat them to a nice game together with a good income for them, as elsewhere on Morocco's golf courses. In the 4 weeks of my round trip, I have never experienced so little of the wonderful hospitality and respectful interaction in any place - however remote it may be. A disgrace for the cultural heritage and reputation of the country and the etiquette of golf!!!

This is a fantastic indoor play area that is part of the Dawliz Complex in Meknes. There is a wide range of fun activities for children above 3 years of age. There are play attendants that are watching the children and a full CCTV system as well. There is water available for 3 DH a bottle. The only downside is that no adults are allowed with their children in the play area, and instead, you can watch via the CCTV screens or through the onsite cafe window. They have numbered bibs for all the kids so that they can easily be identified. I would reccomend you take a pair of socks for the kids. Fantastic customer service 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The staff is known for their kindness and eagerness to assist guests.
I’ve traveled to over 70+ countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels….and this place has got to be in my Top 5 for the best bang for your buck accommodation! The pictures of the rooms online don’t do this place a justice. It’s a stunning property with extremely friendly hosts/staff. Meknes is far better than Fes in my opinion and this Riad is the best!

The entry is dark and makes you think you made a bad hotel choice. No one seemed in charge. Very nice garden space and dining area in the truly lovely interior, ground floor. The Rhiad is a warren of often narrow and steep stairways that may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues. We had a large quiet room with beautiful ceiling. The pretty bathroom was up 3 stairs, a bit dangerous at night and had a strong odor of the sewer so we kept the door closed. Our beds were left unmade and the room could have been cleaner. Breakfast was all carbs, not great, and the place seemed understaffed, the manager overworked. The Wi-Fi was totally uneven throughout the premises. However it is also a bargain hotel.

This was our favorite riad in Morocco. It’s located not too far from a Medina gate so not as much walking with luggage. The building was so fun to explore with little hallways that lead you into beautifully decorated sitting rooms and up stairs to multiple terraces. The staff are very friendly and helped us book a private taxi to Chefchouen. The bed wasn’t as comfortable but we enjoyed the double room overall with the large shower and good water pressure. If you’re looking to waste your money and leave disappointed, then maybe this is the place for you. I had issues with the food and asked to speak to the manager. The receptionist told me the manager was “busy” — but I saw him downstairs! When I asked the waiter, he told me he was the manager. Seriously? I ordered a pizza and it was burnt on the first bite, and the second slice had a piece of aluminum in it! When I complained, the waiter said I should’ve informed them after the first bite. How am I supposed to know the second piece would be worse? Even after complaining, I still had to pay for the food. No apology, no proper solution — just excuses like “that happens sometimes.” How does something like this happen in a so-called 4-star hotel? Please, think twice before booking here. This is just my honest review — maybe you’ll try it and see for yourself, but I definitely won’t be going back.

Beautiful hotel but quite cool in the room due to all the marble surfaces. Finally got the heat figured out but the bathroom didn't warm up very much since it is pretty much all marble! Very beautifully appointed. We had to ask for the king size bed to be split into two beds and ended up with one king size bed and the sofa done up! Interesting result to our request. The food was good. Buffet dinner and breakfast with a fair choice of foods.

Stayed four nights to attend a wedding in Meknes. Had many family and friends staying at the hotel, so received a lot of feedback. Rooms were large, and had great views if you were facing the pool. But half the rooms faced an unattractive busy street. Rooms were big and clean, beds were much too hard. not enough towels, toilet paper or hangers (only 4-really. And only 1 robe! Two of the staff were wonderful, the other were disengaged and disinterested—like they were doing us a huge favor by responding to us. What a turn off! Hotel is a five minute and 15 dirham taxi ride away from the Medina. Otherwise there’s nothing surrounding the hotel of interest, so location depends on what you’re looking for. Restaurant food was fair. Service was slow or unresponsive, unlike in other Moroccan restaurants, we ate. We had friends who rented an Airbnb in the Medina and they were thrilled with their experience. I’d recommend that or a stay in any Riyadh if you want to have a more authentic and warm Moroccan experience. this is a huge hotel that provides a more western and detached feeling.very limited English spoke. Primarily French.

Beautiful hotel. One of the best in Meknes, but you also pay for it :-) I payed 1700 dirhams a night. Some rooms 2200 and 2800 and up. Hotel was nearly empty in this period. Room was very nice and clean, ground level next to the pool. No minibar but with a safe. Nice view. Hotel personel friendly and helpful. Good nightclub available. No disturbance in your room. Very good.

The services and staff aren’t really nice with local Meknassi Moroccan customers who come to the pool. They’re nicer to foreigners which I don’t mind at all, but there should be equality. At the end of the day we’re all customers and we all pay money, so there’s absolutely no need to let us wait forever to pay, or to search us up as if we are se criminals!! Very poor service, unfriendly staff plus where we sit is way too dirty!

This review is for the pool only. Not a single mention of ongoing construction through out the facility. First thing the reception lady charged my 13y/o son as an adult. not cool especially that the titles of pool ground are coming off everywhere; the façade facing the pool is a big construction site and dust is everywhere, no swimming guard on site, the shower is out since it’s right under the constructed site. It’s just a weird sad looking place. I had to leave after 30 minutes. Please let people know what to expect before you charge them for a pool or even worse for a room

nice decor but very bad service. we asked for an extra towel more than 5 times (both from room service and the pool) and never received it. service by the pool is almost nonexistent, the server comes around maybe once an hour. there's no music.
