Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark is a unique park featuring sand dunes with seven different colors, created by centuries of lava, decay, and weathering. Visitors can explore the otherworldly landscape and capture stunning photos for their social media feeds. The park also offers the opportunity to visit Chamarel Falls for a view of the powerful spray of water or try abseiling down the cliffs.
Visited Chamarel Seven Colored Earth and it was a truly unique and fascinating sight. The natural sand dunes with seven distinct shades — from red and brown to purple and blue — are a rare geological wonder you won’t see anywhere else. The colors are even more striking under sunlight, and it’s amazing to learn that they remain unmixed despite rain or wind. The surrounding area is peaceful and scenic, with well-maintained pathways and viewing decks. You can also spot giant tortoises nearby, which adds to the experience. The drive to Chamarel is beautiful, with lush greenery and mountain views along the way. A definite must-visit in Mauritius for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone curious about natural wonders.

The Seven Colored Earths of Mauritius is a wonderful attraction. I really enjoyed it because you can see the different colors of the earth, which is truly stunning. I loved it! It's a large area with many other views to enjoy, so it's not just about the colored earths. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes, like sports clothes, so you can walk around easily. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Unique experience with Waterfall, 7 coloured earth & Turtles. Be prepare to spend MUR650 per person as an entry fees due to private site. Cafe, Souvenir Store is plenty to offer local Rum & other food items as well as crafted artworks by local artists. Definitely worth the visit

The Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark is truly a picturesque and unique natural wonder. The striking layers of vibrant colors are unlike anything I’ve seen before — a perfect spot for photos and to simply take in the beauty of nature. While there isn’t a lot to do beyond enjoying the view and a short walk around the area, it’s absolutely worth visiting for the stunning scenery. A peaceful and memorable stop during our trip to Mauritius!

A must-see natural wonder! The Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth is, without a doubt, one of Mauritius's most recognizable and stunning natural attractions. As such, be prepared for a good number of fellow tourists! While there is parking space, it can fill up quickly, so I recommend arriving early if possible. The view of the swirling, multi-hued sands is truly unique. For the best possible photograph to capture the vibrant colours, here's a quick tip: the sit-out restaurant inside the park offers the best vantage point! It's worth stopping there for the view alone, even if you don't dine. You can easily explore the geopark by walking along a well-maintained walkway that provides several different viewpoints of the sands. Beyond the main attraction, the park also has several other points of interest, including a small enclosure with turtles, an area to explore the Ebony Forest, and several souvenir shops. Toilets are also available for visitors. Overall, this is an essential stop on any Mauritius itinerary. Highly recommended!
Awhan M — Google review
This is really a sight to see but don't be shocked if the colour's arnt as apparent as the online pictures(its natural after all!) You get to see Giant Tortoises which it quite fun especially for children and there is a small 'cafe' that does coffees, juices,ice-cream and traditional sugar cane juice! You can do hikes around the park but give yourself atleast the whole day to do that as there are multiple hiking routes.
Gerhard N — Google review
We were there as part of a self-booked "taxi tour." You also have to pay an entrance fee for the national park. We paid 1,300 rupees for two people. The taxi driver was free. NOTE: The "receipt" with the QR code is also the entrance ticket at the turnstile at the 7 Earths spot. There's also a parking lot there that's generally "permanently full." Our driver dropped us off at the entrance. The area is basically a large pile of sand. Unless you're a geologist, it's not really that exciting. On the same grounds, there's also a fenced-off area where giant tortoises are "kept." In my opinion, it's "just" a place you go to say you've been there...

Ebony Forest Reserve Chamarel is a remarkable conservation initiative in Mauritius, aiming to recreate the island's indigenous native forest that existed 250 years ago. Covering 45 hectares, this reserve offers 7km of hiking trails, raised walkways into the mid-canopy, and safari jeep tours. The estate has planted 110,000 indigenous trees and is home to nine endemic bird species including the pink pigeon and echo parakeet.
This place is quiet, peaceful, and well-maintained. Everything is natural and preserved beautifully. The environment is fresh and calming — a perfect escape into nature. The tourist guides were very friendly and knowledgeable, explaining everything with passion. I really enjoyed the walk through the forest and spotting some rare and uncommon birds. The 3D show was a highlight — it gave a fascinating insight into Mauritian culture, nature, and history. The viewpoints also offer stunning views of the island. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone looking to experience the real beauty of Mauritius.

Booked a Birdwatching walk. 3 to 4 hours actually did 4 3/4 hour hike Ans saw 5 of the 7 rare birds. Guide Damian was excellent knowledgeable and friendly. Superb views from the viewpoints. You do need a reasonable level of fitness for the walk but there is a jeep ride alternative

🌿 5/5 – Amazing Experience! Had a wonderful time on the self-guided hike at Ebony Forest in Chamarel. The trails are well-marked, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful native trees and birds. The views from the top are breathtaking — especially over Le Morne and the coast. Staff were friendly and informative, and it’s great to see the effort put into forest restoration. Perfect spot for nature lovers and anyone who enjoys a calm, scenic walk in Mauritius. Highly recommended!

Took the guided safari jeep tour. Booked online in advance. Very knowledgeable guide who made the visit very enjoyable. The views from Sublime Point are amazing. This is a good option if you are in any doubt about your ability to do the hikes.

The Ebony Forest Reserve was a great experience during our stay on Mauritius. You get to hike on your own in beautiful forest and get a guide that walks you through a section of the track and explains the efforts to restore both endemic and native species. We also saw free ranging tortoises and quite a few birds. It also has a small museum that explains the history of Mauritius and that of birds like the Dodo and the namesake ebony trees. Well worth a visit (we stayed for over 3 hours)!

I had the chance to visit the Ebony Forest in Chamarel, Mauritius, and it was a wonderful experience. The reserve is beautifully maintained, offering a mix of scenic walking trails, viewpoints, and a chance to learn about the island’s unique biodiversity. The highlight for me was the walk through the restored native forest, where you can see giant tortoises and rare bird species. The viewpoints overlooking Le Morne and the coastline are breathtaking, and the skywalk gives a unique perspective of the forest canopy. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to share interesting facts about conservation and local history. It’s not a very long visit, but it’s definitely worth it if you enjoy nature, quiet surroundings, and eco-friendly activities. Overall, a satisfying experience that combines relaxation, education, and beautiful views. 🌿🐢🌍✨ #EbonyForest #MauritiusTravel #Chamarel #NatureLovers #EcoTourism #MauritiusNature #TravelMauritius #Conservation #HiddenGem #IslandParadise

Ebony Forest Reserve in Chamarel is a beautiful conservation area with well-maintained trails, stunning views, and rich biodiversity. The guided tours are informative, and you can learn a lot about Mauritius’ native flora and fauna. A great place for hiking, birdwatching, and connecting with nature.

Did the Love Tree Tour and it was Fantastic! Jean was a great guide, was really knowledgeable and friendly. We saw Geckos, birds and Tortoises up close! So a tour so animals can be pointed out for you. Highly recommend to experience the forest without a strenuous hike, easy for kids and older people. The open jeep up the mountain was really comfy and fun, and the views at sublime point were amazing! Facilities were new with nice clean toilets, gift shop for souvenirs and snacks, not a place for lunch so go to Chamarel Cafe for that. Great to support the conservation effort for Mauritius

Holiday apartment rental
Tenexia - Holiday Rental offers a budget-friendly, fully-equipped apartment with stunning ocean and Le Morne views in a peaceful, up-and-coming area. The hosts, Ashvin and Madhavi, are highly praised for their warm hospitality and helpful recommendations for local activities. Guests appreciate the cozy and functional rooms that feel like home, complete with essential amenities such as a toaster, microwave, washing machine, pan, iron board, etc.
We had a great stay at Tenexia ! Ashvin and his wife are lovely and helpful host. They welcome you with a great smile and make sure that everything is fine throughout your holidays. Always doing their best to assist you. Regarding the rooms, they are cosy and comfortable. And very functional 🙂. It feels like at home, with everything you need (toaster, microwave, washing machine, pan, iron, iron board, etc..) And nice sunset view from the balcony. I definitely recommend this little gem.

I had an absolutely incredible stay at Ashvin’s apartment in Mauritius! From start to finish, everything was perfect. First and foremost, the communication was outstanding — Ashvin was always quick to respond, incredibly helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. Their attentiveness made me feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. The apartment itself was nothing short of perfection. It was *sparkling clean*, beautifully maintained, and equipped with everything one could possibly need. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and the quality of the amenities exceeded my expectations. It truly felt like a home away from home. Safety was also a top priority for me, and I felt completely secure during my entire stay. The location was great, and I could fully relax knowing that everything was well taken care of. This was an exceptional experience, and I can confidently say that this is one of the best Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at. If you're visiting Mauritius, look no further—this is the place to be! A very well-deserved **5 stars!** 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great place to base yourself in the Southwest of the island! We visited La Gaulette at the start of our trip and returned to end our trip because we loved it so much and it’s location to Le Morne and Black River Gorges National Park. Our second return we stayed at Tenexia and loved it very much. Very quiet neighborhood, the apartment has everything you need to be comfortable (including your own washing machine), and beautiful terrace on the roof for sunset. Ashvin and his wife were so kind! I looked forward to running into them to talk in the evenings. They sent us several food and sightseeing recommendations on google maps! When we return to Mauritius, we will stay with Tenexia again!

Tou Korek Surf Shop is a must-visit destination for ocean sports enthusiasts. This well-stocked surf shop offers an impressive selection of everything you might need, from surfboards and fins to wax and sunglasses. The staff, particularly Trevor, are known for their exceptional service and expertise, ensuring that customers find the perfect gear tailored to their needs. Whether you're looking for kiting equipment or simply want to explore a variety of boards at great prices, Tou Korek Surf Shop has got you covered.
What a service!!!!! I needed a new go pro and they stepped up and delivered it to my hotel next day without fuss. Then I needed some other items urgent for a trip the next day. Yet again they stepped up and I had all my items in a matter of hours. Brilliant service and will use them again without hesitation. Awesome!

I recently visited Tou Korek Surf Shop in La Gaulette, Mauritius, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. Despite being the largest surf shop on the island, boasting a wide range of equipment for various water sports, I found that some of their products were overpriced, which was disappointing. Moreover, the staff seemed more focused on making a sale than ensuring the equipment suited my needs. They did not inquire about my surfing experience or skill level, leading to recommendations that were not appropriate for me. This lack of personalized service resulted in a purchase that I later regretted. To make matters worse, Trevor was absolutely awful. His attitude was dismissive, and he seemed more interested in pushing products than actually helping customers. A good surf shop should prioritize honest advice and proper guidance, not just sales tactics.

Highly recommended shop. Trevor in the Board Section was very professional and recommended me the best surfboard. Great variety of fins also. Well equipped water-sports shop in Mauritius.

I have purchased a pair of flip flops and after 2 days they just teared a parts. I tried to return them but it turned out that it had no warranty. On the receipt it says that exchange of any products will be accepted within 7 days of purchase upon presentation of receipt. Cheaters!

Dive into the enchanting underwater realm at Paradis Snorkeling in Le Morne, where a vibrant tapestry of marine life and breathtaking coral reefs beckons adventurers. While reaching this idyllic spot may require a bit of effort—whether by boat or a scenic beach walk—the rewards are well worth it. Once you arrive, you'll find yourself surrounded by stunning views and the chance to witness turtles gracefully munching on their meals right before your eyes.
Amazing snorkeling! Good spot for kids.

Cool place for snorkeling, unfortunately accessible only with a boat, or if you walk 1-2 hours on the beach. No access with car, unless you pay 1500 rupees per person for a sun-bed and umbrella, because there is a private property.

(Translated by Google) This is where the boat from the snorkeling trip from Paradis goes. Mediocre snorkeling, hardly any coral, few fish. But the view of Le Morne from the boat is quite nice. Swimming fins and snorkel/mask are provided. There are several tours a day. Instead of taking the boat tour, I recommend simply snorkeling directly from the beach halfway between Blue Marlin and the Watersports Office, there is a lot more to see there, an intact reef, whole schools of fish, calamari, starfish, etc.

Nestled in the vibrant town of La Gaulette, between the stunning landscapes of Le Morne and Tamarin, ENSO Restaurant & Lounge Bar has quickly become a cherished destination for both locals and visitors. Known for its lively Friday night atmosphere featuring live music, this hotspot is an integral part of West Mauritius's nightlife. Guests rave about their culinary delights, particularly the fried calamari which surprises with its perfect texture—crispy yet tender.
Really great food. It is largely non vegetarian restaurant but has some vegetarian options as well. We ordered their alio olio pasta, French fries and bunny dish veg and one tea. All of them were delicious. The quantity was also good. There were a lot of families so it is well suited for that.

Finally one normal, not ‘in the backyard of my house’ restaurant with very decent food, fair prices, great and friendly service. First, when we entered, a casual smiling. We see billiard table which is free to be used by guests and a drum-set saying - we do have good gigs and great atmosphere here. First order draft Fenix fresh beer - exactly what we needed. Next for starters - grilled octopus salad, nice tasty big portion. Next we had fish and some very special South African, but localised meal. All very tasty, good prepared and very decent amount of food. We had a very nice chat with the guy who served us, we played some billiard - good vibe. Right next door is the only supermarket- very convenient ☺️ Would recommend!

Dinner Night at Enso, La Gaulette .We recently spent a lovely dinner evening with friends at Enso, a cozy restaurant and pub located on the west coast of Mauritius, in La Gaulette. The place has such a beautiful setup — warm glowing bulbs and a chill atmosphere that instantly makes you feel relaxed. 🌿🍸 It was Burger Night, and we tried a few amazing dishes: 🍔 Tuna Wasabi with Wakame – Rs 750 🍔 Pulled Lamb Burger with Onion – Rs 790 🍔 Chicken Philly Burger with BBQ sauce and melted cheese – Rs 590 🍔 Seared Tuna Steak with Tartare Sauce – Rs 750 Each burger had its own unique flavor and sauce — perfectly cooked and bursting with taste! I even noticed some creative options like the Pulled Jackfruit Burger with onion and chilli BBQ sauce (Rs 590) — a great vegetarian twist that’s not so common elsewhere. We also had some starters — the Chilli Chicken Wings and Grilled Octopus Salad — both absolutely delicious and quite generous in portion (definitely enough to share!). Service was quick, with food arriving within 15–30 minutes, and the cocktails were just fabulous. 🍹 If you’re looking for a relaxing spot away from the busy town life, Enso is definitely a hidden gem worth discovering. During a recent visit to Enso Bar Restaurant, we ordered the seared yellowfin tuna steak with vegetables and the piccata Milanese. While the dishes were neatly presented, the overall experience left much to be desired. The tuna steak was cooked adequately and accompanied by a small portion of vegetables. However, the flavours were basic and lacked any distinctive or memorable qualities. Fortunately, I had ordered a side of fries, though these were unfortunately undercooked, which further diminished the meal. The piccata Milanese followed a similar pattern—simple and inoffensive, but far from remarkable. In both cases, the portion sizes were extremely small, resembling more of a tasting portion than a proper main course. With such minimal servings and unexceptional flavours, the restaurant struggles to offer value for money. The limited menu also restricts choice, making it unlikely to appeal to those seeking variety or a more satisfying dining experience. To make matters worse, the prices are quite expensive for what is ultimately a very basic and underwhelming offering.

First class restaurant. Very cute location, amazingly cozy to sit. Waiter was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The food: we had an octopus salad as a starter (shared with 2 people). Amazingly seasoned with vinegar, pepper and salt. Veggies were freshly cut and the whole blended together sublimely. As a main 2 of us had grilled tuna, our other friend took the gambas. All three of us were ecstatic. The tuna was so fresh and tasty. Briefly seared on both sides, still raw in the middle, which is godlike when the fish is this fresh. Gambas must've been amazing as well, our usually loud friend was silent for an amazing 15 minutes. The rice and side veggies were simple yet splendid. Dessert is being served as we speak and no doubt it will be as great as previous courses. We went out of our usual ways to come here and write down a review. World class for people who like simple but well executed food. Keep it going Gregory!

We started with the seafood platter (absolutely loaded and so fresh), followed by a crème brûlée and ananas flambée 🔥🍍 The service was warm and attentive and the music added the perfect touch to the whole vibe. 10/10 night — would go back in a heartbeat!
Miray S — Google review
The restaurant it's quirky and interesting, Gregory was our waiter, he was very helpful, kind and cordial , we had the fried calamari which were tasty , fresh and fried to perfection, we had the dim sum which were tasty, I had Tuna steak, was good but unfortunately a bit overcooked(would've been perfect if cooked a bit less), the prawn were unfortunately overcooked as well. Overall the food was ok but the atmosphere and service great. We had some rum that Gregory made (lichee rum and pineapple rum) was very good. We had a nice evening anyways, thank you for that.

Awesome place to have food. Music and service is excellent. You will live it here. Mauritius is usually closed early post lunch. We found this secret restaurant serving dood and drinks late in the afternoon around 5 pm as aell. A must go if you are hungry and all other places are shut.

From start to finish, our experience was simply wonderful! The dinner was full of quality and flavor, and every dish right up to the dessert was perfectly prepared. The restaurant’s rustic décor creates such a warm and cozy atmosphere, making it feel welcoming from the moment you step inside. What truly stood out was the service: we were greeted with genuine smiles and cared for by such sweet and friendly staff. A beautiful evening all around . highly recommended for anyone who loves great seafood paired with heartfelt hospitality!

Wow wow , if you want to be spoilt with delicious food, this is the place to go to & Gregory is the chef for you. Amazing cook. We requested chicken curry , vegetable curry ( tofu) & a Tuna Dish ( Gregory mentioned he had freshly caught tuna ( line fishing ❤️) ) we arrived at his restaurant which was beautiful, very cozy , amazing 😍 vibe. The food we had was exactly what we wanted, much better than a restaurant we went to a day before which was a "mainstream" restaurant on a main road. If you want a taste of Mauritian hospitality & home cooked food, definitely seek this place out. Gregory is sometimes at a place called Happy Days Guest house ( where we stayed) which is an amazing place to stay with breathtaking views ( ask for sea view if possible )

Gregory’s Secret Restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The vibe here is wonderfully chill, with a cozy garden setting that feels both relaxing and refreshing. The decor is eco-friendly, thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. It’s a favorite spot among expats, adding a unique, multicultural feel to the atmosphere. The seafood dishes are outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The prawns were succulent and perfectly grilled, and the fresh salad was a delightful start to the meal. The staff is attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home while ensuring every detail is perfect. This is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to experience authentic, high-quality cuisine in a beautifully curated, eco-conscious setting.

The restaurant ANGELO offers exceptional cuisine and top-notch service. The pizzas and pasta dishes are truly authentic Italian, cooked to perfection with al dente noodles and fresh ingredients. Their local cuisine is also excellent, showcasing the best flavors of the region. One standout dish is the succulent and tender calamari curry. The hosts at ANGELO are attentive and go above and beyond to accommodate any requests. Despite its quality, this hidden gem is still relatively unknown to many people.
My sister recomended me this place. Angelo's Pizza is fantastic! The crust is crispy, and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. The flavors are great, and the service is friendly and quick. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back for more!

We visited with my family who are all vegetarian and my mom who does not eat garlic and onions, the staff were very accommodating nothing was too much trouble and they catered to all our dietary needs with a smile. The food was excellent especially the pizzas which were freshly made. The menu has a good variety of dishes suitable for all at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

we had to wait for over 2 hours for our food. although the dishes sound splendid on the menu, you will be disappointed once they arrive. the food is not bad, but its not worth the wait. We asked to prioritise the food for the child of the group, but still waited ages for it. Toilets are clean.

We came here because we saw the restaurant while coming back from the Morne. We saw the reviews when already seated and we got a bit scared (the bad reviews were recent). But food was delicious. Pasta home made and the calamari creole was so tender. Service was also excellent. I really don’t get how this is rated worse than Enzo which was terrible. I never rate places but I feel bad this place has had such bad reviews when everything was excellent. It deserves 4.5 star average for sure.

Excellent food and service. Pizzas and al dente pasta dishes truly authentic Italian. Local cuisine also excellent. Fresh ingredients. Calamari curry succulent and tender. Hosts were attentive and did everything they could to accommodate to our requests. Strangely, too few people know about their existence. They closed for renovations but now fully opened. Great place to chill out after dinner. One of the few restaurants in La Gaulette to do so after dinner. Tables are nicely set with linen. Very elegant yet not stuffy. Young hardworking team with great attitude and positive energy. We loved it first time and went back a few days after. The experience got even better. Highly recommend!

Had crispy calamari and stir fried calamari. Unfortunately, the good accessibility and location could not compensate for the meagre portion size served for the price charged. Looked at other reviews before going, but unimpressed.

You can hardly find better place to have a breakfast each morning. Wide variety od food and drinks is provided. Views are amazing, you can choose to sit even at the beach tables. Staff was more then polite in many occasions. Sometimes they were asking if everything was fine too many times but thats ok. It was a bit colder one morning so they provided blankets for us.

Day 2

Southeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the southeast side side of town. Start the day off with Le Morne Public Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Snorkeling Le Morne. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Beach
Nestled at the base of the imposing Le Morne Brabant mountain in western Mauritius, Le Morne Public Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline featuring swaying casuarina trees and fine white sand. This 4 km long beach is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and offers a range of water sports including kitesurfing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling.
Definitely the best beach on Mauritius. Shimmering crystal clear waters you can see the sealife from standing on shore. Good mix of locals and tourists and not too busy or loud. Can be challenging to get there if not driving, we took the bus #5 from Cascavelle mall to the stop past cottee raffin and then found a minibus that went to the beach from there. The hike to Le Morne peak is worth it, must start by 7am latest otherwise it's too hot. Glad we did this instead of flying over on seaplane/heli

One of our favourite beaches in Mauritius. There are two sides to the beach, the windy side where you see all the kite surfing and the sheltered side where you can enjoy a nice swim. There is a restaurant, plenty of parking, public bathrooms and lots of shade. There is plenty of coral so be careful to look where you are stepping. The view is amazing and the sunsets are stunning.

Le Morne Public Beach is a beautiful and peaceful spot, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The crystal-clear water and stunning mountain backdrop make it feel like paradise. It’s great for swimming, sunsets, or just lounging under the trees. There’s a free parking lot, which is super convenient, and free public toilets available. Just a heads-up, there’s no toilet paper, so make sure to bring your own.
Kim K — Google review
Beautiful, blue, clear water and nice, clean beach. A long, if not the longest strip of beach in Mauritius. A few trees here and there to sit in the shade but otherwise there's not much there to keep you out of the sun since it's a public beach. There's a few vendors for food, accessories and souvenirs and even a public bathroom next to the parking lot but I wouldn't recommend to go there if you have to sit down or touch anything because it's VERY dirty and unhygienic. For such a big beach and tourist spot I would hope for better infrastructure regarding toilets and showers here.

The most beautiful beach in Mauritius. Commercialised as well. Lot of folks there enjoying the tides. The sunset is phenomenal. Plenty of parking space and changing rooms. Must visit. Highly recommended. Clear water and clear sky makes it a perfect destination for an outing.

Embark on an unforgettable journey with 'Dolphins & Whales Watching in Mauritius with Matteo,' where the azure waters of Le Morne Brabant become your playground. This adventure promises not just a chance to swim alongside playful dolphins but also to encounter majestic whales, including sperm and humpback varieties, along with their adorable calves. Guests rave about Matteo's professionalism and warmth; he ensures everyone feels comfortable while exploring the vibrant marine life.
We had an amazing experience! It was a beautiful boat ride and such a fantastic way to spend the morning. While we didn’t spot any whales, we got to swim up close with dolphins — which was absolutely unforgettable. Matteo, our guide, was wonderful — super attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely a pleasure to chat with. We really appreciated his honesty and the relaxed, respectful vibe he created throughout the trip. The boat was in great condition, clean and comfortable, and water was provided onboard. Overall, just a really well-run and memorable experience. Highly recommend these guys!

Matteo, a wonderful person, organized a dolphin tour for us. We found the dolphins very quickly. We were lucky and saw two types of dolphins. We swam with a pod of dolphins for a long time, very close to them. This was our first diving experience. Matteo offered to swim more, but this experience was enough for us. Matteo surprised us and we were able to swim with a manta ray and a turtle, and also saw fish on the reef. Special thanks to the skipper, a very positive person.

Absolutely unforgettable experience! Swimming with dolphins and whales was a dream come true truly magical and beyond words. Matteo was incredibly kind, helpful, and professional throughout the whole journey. Communication was smooth, and they went above and beyond to accommodate everything we needed. The team made us feel safe, welcomed, and well taken care of. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a once in a lifetime adventure!

We had a wonderful time on the dolphin watching tour with Matteo. The ocean was calm, and we found the dolphins within 15 minutes. I'm a poor swimmer, so Matteo held my hand and showed me the dolphins. It was unforgettable, swimming so close to them. We saw two types of dolphins and heard them communicate. Incredible. After the dolphins, we went to the reef, where we saw a huge turtle and a manta ray. We had a wonderful time, thanks to Matteo and the skipper🐬🌊

My wife and I went dolphin swimming and whale watching with Matteo, and it was honestly the best experience ever! 🐬🐋 It might seem a bit more expensive than other tours, but it’s worth every cent. We actually tried a similar tour with another operator, and it didn’t come close to the experience we had with Matteo. The service, care, and overall atmosphere were incredible from start to finish. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Mauritius!

We went on a tour with Matteo and he was a great guide and did everything in his power to make sure that we had the best tour ever. We were extremely lucky to have both humpbacks, sperm whales and dolphins on the same tour and it was great to see the love and respect Matteo has for the ocean and its inhabitants. I can really recommend going with Matteo!
Andrea M — Google review
10/5 stars. Matteo is an excellent guide and almost always knows where to find whales! He is driven by a sincere desire to show the beauty of the ocean and introduce tourists to whales and dolphins. We searched for whales for three hours and saw about ten other boats, but there were no whales in that spot. Many turned around. Matteo didn't despair and took us to another spot. In the fourth hour, we saw six sperm whales. Breathtaking. Then we found a huge pod of dolphins with whom we could swim.

Unforgettable Experience with MatteoAttraction, albeit quite expensive! After thoroughly comparing different providers and reading many reviews, we finally decided to go with Matteo. We booked the Ultimate Adventure and had an absolutely incredible day. We saw dolphins, swam with them, and were even lucky enough to spot whales! Matteo and his colleague Rohan acted always with great respect for the animals while still giving us a great time. On the way back, we visited Crystal Rock and went snorkeling along a beautiful reef. The day ended with a nice beachside barbecue. It was an experience we’ll never forget and it was definetly worth the money! Thank you, Matteo and Rohan!

Le Morne Brabant is a historic 1,824-ft. mountain located in Mauritius, offering a challenging yet scenic climb to its sweeping views at the top. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds significant cultural and historical importance as it served as a refuge for slaves in the 18th century.
Well marked out but very steep hike. Bring a lot of water, suncream, some snacks, a hat/cap. You'll turn off the main road to a dirt road, drive 1 km and find a parking area. Nothing formal. Then there is a gate. When you walk through you'll find a book on the right side where you need to sign in and out (this is the only way for them to track people hiking safely). Our total hike was close to 8kms. We went to see the look out point that veers off to the right before you reach the steep climbing point which is why it maybe took us longer. The climbing is intense, and as you get to the top it plays on your mind a bit because you go down and then back up before reaching the top. Wear shoes with good grip and take things slowly and carefully! There used to be ropes but these no longer exist. You'll be rewarded with magnificent views as you go up and at the summit, along with lots of cute little birds! The summit is a relatively small area with a cross on the top.
Michelle K — Google review
Don’t have enough words to describe the view we saw at multiple spots during our trek. Just phenomenal. We reached there at around 6 AM but couldn’t get in because it was locked and dark. The person came after 7 AM after which we started our trek. It’s a difficult trek but the beginning trail is still walkable. After the first point a guide is needed to help you climb the mountain. It involves literal wall climbing so you should be in a great health to do it. If you’re a patient or recovering then this trek is not for you. Carry some water and some bars as it takes around 2 hours to just do the easy trail and back. Start early because the sun gets harsh with time and it becomes difficult to climb. Also carry mosquito repellent. We were also able to see the underwater waterfall from the top. All the beaches and islands are clearly visible. Highly recommended.
Urvashi R — Google review
An unforgettable lifetime experience. A great, breathtaking view from the top, it was worth a hike. My suggestion for the hike: 1. start as early as possible. We started at 6 o’clock in the morning and at 7 o’clock it was almost unbearable hot. It’s a lot of climbing and the stone would get also hotter in the sun. 2. Bring a lot of water with you, at least 1 L/person. 3. I would suggest to hire a guide if you don’t have an experience in climbing. We did often a hike in the alps but I was so afraid that I wouldn’t survive this hike. We were lucky that we accidentally mixed up with the guided group and we could follow them, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to get to the top.

Nice but not very easy trip for everyone who are not affraid of climbing without equipment. You can do it. If not, there are lots of view poinst when you need not to climb. Open from 7-16. Last enterance 14:30

Easy part 1 and more challenging part 2. The day we went wad way too crowded. Many climbed to the summit and you could just tell from their face how scared they were to go down w.out the right shoes or equipment. 3 days after we climbed up, we didnt go to the peak as the last climbed was jammed with ppl of all sorts of levels, we heared of the tragic accident of a young man. Just a reminder that climbing this mountain comes with high risk. Please avoid when too crowded on the last bit.
Ntht N — Google review
Hike was absolutely worth it! View is stunning! It is a little difficult though but not as difficult as it might seem. Actually it is very doable if you are in a pretty much good shape. You for sure don't need to be an expert hiker or athlete to do it. And you do not need a guide! At the beginning we thought we will hike till just the climbing sign, but then we continued a bit by a bit and reached the top! Mind you, we (me and my husband) are not expert hikers nor in extreme good shape. You just need a good hiking shoes or shoes with a good grip as it could be a bit slippery. It is not dangerous at all if you watch your steps carefully. Also the way down looks way more difficult than it actually is. Just go slowly and catch to anything near you to keep your balance (tree, rock...). There was no "obvious trail", especially at the top, you climb wherever it is possible, or follow the other people. Don't be scared of the word "climbing" as we were also scared to do it especially that it was our first time "climbing a mountain". No tools or anything needed. If you hesitate to continue the hike, the view from the point just before the climbing is also spectacular!! Walk a little bit toward the trees and you will see pretty much similar view as the top. Even if you continue the hike, you will see many spots on your way up, with the exact same view as the summit. You don't need to continue to the top if your goal is just the view and good photos. Weather is no joke when warm, take plenty of water with you. Hike was in total around 3,5hours (reaching the top, with many stops for photos). Enjoy the hike 😊
Sally K — Google review
Le Morne Brabant is an unforgettable hiking experience. The trail up to the top is quite challenging but absolutely rewarding. The scenery is just stunning, with lush greenery and that gorgeous blue ocean stretching out below. As you get closer to the summit, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged, requiring a bit of climbing and focus. Reaching the cross  at the top feels like a true achievement, offering a stunning 360-degree view of Mauritius coastline and surrounding landscape. If you're up for an adventure in Mauritius, this hike is a must.
Shonali S — Google review
Loved this hike! The first half of the hike is easy but the second half involves steep rock climbing using hands and feet, not for the weak. Takes around 2 hours to get to the very top where the cross is. Getting down is faster but still a must to take your time. The views are stunning and well worth the climb.

My favorite restaurant within the Le Morne Beachcomber Resorts. The menu is a mix of comfort food and local items and my favorites were the palm heart salad with tuna tataki and the beef burger. The spare ribs was not like personally expected. It had a special cut (with more meat but with some soft bones/tendons) and the spicing was asian bbq. The service was okay. With the tables on the beach and a view on the turquoise sea it is a beautiful lunch spot.

The Slave Route Monument in Mauritius stands at the foot of Le Morne Brabant, commemorating the island's history of slavery. The park area features stone-carved art pieces that honor the enslaved people of Mauritius and provide a serene space for reflection and cultural engagement. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of Le Morne mountain from within the monument circle and learn about the significance of this historically important site through art installations with explanations in English and French.
A little park area that contains multiple art pieces that are carved in stone. The art pieces commemorate the enslaved people of Mauritius. This is a lovely park to relax and to also engage with the culturally significant area. The art pieces overlook Le Morne itself and provides a timely reminder of the suffering that the enslaved people endured. It’s an area of reflection, inspiration and positivity as you walk through the park. An impressively designed, if understated, park that will leave a mark on anyone.

Snorkeling Le Morne

4.7
(15)
Snorkeling Le Morne offers an unforgettable experience for those eager to explore the vibrant underwater ecosystem. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Le Morne Brabant, this snorkeling haven boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters that are perfect for swimming and relaxation. While some visitors have noted a limited variety of fish during their excursions, others have been delighted by encounters with turtles and colorful marine life just a short swim from shore.
very good spot. In front of the ion center, in the area of the seaweed in the water, you can often find turtles. please keep your distance, do not touch the turtles and respect the animals! P.S. This is also a good spot to watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve.

This spot is undervalued. I went there snorkelling once and immediately saw a turtle. There was nobody around, just us. Not many fishes, but they come and go, if you stay long enough, you will see many species. Clear water, fantastic visibility. Free public toilet if you need to change.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful beach with fantastic turquoise water. Only went snorkeling once and didn't see much. But a dream for swimming and relaxing at the foot of Le Morne Brabant. (Original) Schöner Strand mit traumhaft türkis blauem Wasser. War nur einmal kurz schnorcheln und hab nicht viel gesehen. Aber zum Schwimmen und relaxen am Fuß des Le Morne Brabant ein Traum.

(Translated by Google) The most colorful fish swim beautifully 2 meters into the water 😍 Attention: also sea urchins (Original) Direkt 2 Meter ins Wasser rein schwimmen schön die buntesten Fische 😍 Achtung: auch Seeigel

(Translated by Google) Saw two turtles and a ray while snorkeling. In the middle of the day. We entered the water right here (at the white sign between the two trees) and swam north. At the level of the first hotel (Ion Club flag on the beach, a little further out than the yellow buoys in the water) the underwater landscape is rather unspectacular. Hardly any reefs or corals. But seaweed. Here were the turtles and the ray (at least 1 m tall).

Island
Île aux Benitiers is a 160-acre coral island located about 500 meters off the coast of La Gaulette on the west coast of Mauritius. It features virgin beaches, coconut plantations, and a stunning blue lagoon with panoramic views of the West coast. The island is popular for boat trips, offering visitors an unforgettable adventure with catamaran cruises to its crystal-clear waters.
Great island to visit by boat! Only by boat you can enter that beautiful island with crystal clear water, sandy beaches and a great view to Mauritius main island. There are some small shops with tourist items, food and drinks directly at the beach. You also find places in the shade for a picknick or a rest. Not that far you see the famous Crystal rock as well.

Absolutely stunning place , ile aux cerfs but without the water activities and shops. The water is crystal clear and the beach is perfect for hanging out for a couple of hours

Beautiful little island. The vendors are great. You can get food, drinks, fresh coconuts, and gifts. The island appears unspoilt.

Île aux Benitiers was really cool – clear water, perfect for snorkeling, and we saw lots of fish. Also happy to see not much trash around. Great spot overall!
Justin — Google review
Stunning island! Worth doing if you have half a day free. Lunches provided on tours are amazing, especially the fish and chilli.
Ryan — Google review
Insanely beautiful. This is really what my definition of paradise is, the pics don’t do it justice. Go kayaking if you can!! The lagoon is super shallow.
Jasper — Google review
Nice tour to the island, shallow water.. Clear blue water and dolphins. Crystal rock is nice to see. The island itself is full of trash and not worthy to visit.
M. — Google review
Really beautiful rock in the ocean. We drove past on a motorboat but you can get to it on kayaks and even potentially walk up in water up to your waist. Wouldn't recommend that as it's a long way and there are dangerous shells like a razor that can cut you so wear water shoes

Very friendly and helpful people who are happy to answer any questions. The horses are big and beautiful. The ride along the beach was wonderful. It was our first time riding horses. Each horse is accompanied by a stable staff member who guides and can help slow the horse down if needed. Thank you so much for this ride — an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
Roman P — Google review
I can't describe how wonderful the riding was. I booked last minute and it was absolutely fantastic, with a quick response and professionalism. I have a lot of experience riding horses, so I booked the ride and swim. The horses are very calm, they are carefully cared, and the surroundings are incredible. The guide was very attentive, and we were able to trot, gallop, and swim at the beach—a dream for any rider. I would recommend it to anyone who loves horses and wants to have a good time. I would do it again for sure!

My daughter had the opportunity to go horseback riding on the beach with Haras du Morne, and it was a wonderful experience. The horses are well cared for, calm, and perfectly suited for riding with children. The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and professional – we felt welcome and well looked after from the very beginning. The stunning scenery, great atmosphere, and excellent organization made it an unforgettable adventure. Highly recommended!

Been here several times already. Always delightful to be with the horses. And the team is very professional and friendly. Highly recommend this horse ride along the beach if you are in the neighborhood😇

The horse farm is located at the foot of Mount Mona. The environment is very good. The horses are very healthy and in good spirits. The riding experience on the beach was great. Later, we rode for 40 minutes in the horse farm. It was a great experience. If you like horse riding activities, you should not miss it.

My friend and I are experienced horse riders, and we were truly impressed by our amazing two-hour ride on the beach, followed by swimming with the horses! These stables are truly remarkable, as the horses are well-treated and trained, kept clean and happy. This is an essential aspect for me, as I love these animals dearly, and not every stable can boast such high standards of animal care! The team here is truly professional, with all equipment in good condition and saddles that are well-suited for sport. Our trainer, Rama, tested our skills in paddock prior to our ride on the beach. he did brilliant as our guide in this ride. Our route was truly beautiful, with various paces, including trotting and galloping, as well as swimming with the horses. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team for making this experience so memorable. Additional thanks to the photographer, it was a nice surprise that he did some wonderful photos and videos of our race. It was a truly exceptional horseback riding experience near the ocean.

What an amazing experience! First time horse riding with 2 amazing guides (Irfan & Axelle)! Big thank you to both of you for making our first session such an amazing experience. Your love for the horses and the work you do, is commendable. Something highly recommended if you are in Mauritius!

Restaurant
Ocean Vagabond is an outstanding establishment with a fantastic atmosphere. The staff members are extremely kind and accommodating, providing top-notch service. The beverages, including the beer and cocktails, are of excellent quality. Furthermore, the happy hour on Saturdays offers half-priced cocktails that should not be missed. They offer a diverse selection of pizzas, all of which were delectable. Moreover, their banana rum is highly recommended. The owner personally serves customers and is known for being exceptionally pleasant to interact with.
Delicious pizza! The smoked Marlin is a must try!! I got a half and half because I was a bit shy on the fish pizza, but I wish I had ordered a whole Marlin. Good service too!

Nice place to have dinner after an eventful day in and around La Gaulette. We had a tasty pizza and curry. The restaurant also offers a range of cocktails from the bar. You can sit outside, inside, and upstairs. The staff is friendly but you have to be patient, because it can take quite some time for the food to be delivered.

Very nice restaurant. Ambience is pleasant. The food was very tasty. Waiters are very friendly and helpful. High recommend this restaurant.
Radka N — Google review
Very cool restaurant, highly recommend beef creole style. Watch out on Saturdays - they have happy hours and it may be more crowded.
Marcin H — Google review
This restaurant is now called Ocean Vibes. It has seating on the veranda, inside and on the terrace upstairs. We booked a table and were shown a table upstairs. It was on the front and quite chilly on a windy night but we moved the table away from the open balcony and this was more comfortable. On a Saturday night they advertise cocktails at half price. The Mojito were nicely presented with a good portion of mint but were not very strong. We enjoyed fish balls to share as a starter. The grilled dorade was good but the beef did not taste fresh. It was difficult to get attention upstairs so we went down to pay. We had to wait a while as the bar area was very busy but fortunately checked the bill as the second Mojito was charged at full price.

I can recommend the "Benitier island" pizza with smoked Marlin and the "Le Morne" I had a half and half as I couldn't decide! Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Our waiter was new and really friendly he did a great job!
Heather M — Google review
Fantastic place! Very delicious pizza's and amazing cocktails!!! Mango colada is the best 😆 Very quick service, nice people, always busy, from experience after a week it is a very good sign. We will be back for the third time as so far did not find anything better
Juste G — Google review
The food was good 7/10, but I was disappointed with how they handled our forgotten order. Mistakes can happen, but it’s how you respond that matters. A simple, sincere “Sorry, we forgot your dish” would have made a big difference.
