German restaurant
Beer hall
Hahndorf Inn is a charming German restaurant housed in a historic two-story 1863 hotel with exposed stone walls and a wood-paneled ceiling. The restaurant offers hearty German cuisine, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners. With free wifi and outdoor seating available, it's an ideal spot to enjoy traditional German dishes such as pork neck and sausages.
We had been to Hahndorf Village during Good Friday 2025. Beautiful township, but too full of tourists on the day due to Easter holidays and a nightmare in terms of parking space. After 20 mins, we managed to find a street parking and then set off to walk around the village on foot. With a few mins, we realised that whatever we saw of the village and fall colours (which is a big selling point of tourism here) while driving around was the best approach to see the village in the otherwise crowded town on that day. Soon we gave up walking and hit the Hahndorf Inn, which was in my list of place to eat and drink the craft German beers. I ordered the beer paddle to taste the produce of their brewery, got the Fest, Helles, Hefe, Berliner, and Dunkel. The Berliner was a new type of beer I tasted, quite like the raspberry after taste but settled on the Hefe. Ordered the schnitzel, hotdog and fish and chips as mains and affogato dessert. Even though the restaurant was packed to capacity, the food came in fairly quick within 20 mins. The food served had big portions of food and chips, and the price was reasonable (I am from Sydney, everything looks reasonable in comparison!) with an extra surcharge for Easter. The beers tasted divine with the food, so got me an extra 6 pack of hefes to-go. The service staff were busy but were not being impolite of hurrying the customers, had a smile on them showing that they loved the crowd. Overall a great place and def recommended for dine in and the craft German beers they make in the German township of Hahndorf.

Food was great however the service was slow but friendly. The atmosphere was nice but was really looking for a more authentic German feeling to create some ambience with the food. We heard the German music coming from another venue which made us wish we went there :( To be fair though, the restaurant was very nice and clean and if I were the staff there, listening to German music every shift would be like being stuck listening to Christmas carols and it was during winter in the off season so it wasn't terribly busy.

Enjoyed the meal with German vibes. The menu had a wide selection of German specialties including German Bier. 🙂 We ordered The Hahndorf Inn Deluxe to get a taste of a bit of everything. I think it’s a good size to share between four people, with the six of us, we added extra pretzels and a Sausage Board. 🙂 The highlight was the Pork Hock. Crispy skin and tender meat was satisfying. Other meat on the plate was fine, nothing to rave about. 😗 The Sausage board was a bit underwhelming since the sausages were all boiled, they tasted quite bland and boring. 😏 I still recommend this place because of the great vibes and great service. Pork Hock and chargrilled sausages is the way to go. 😌

I was excited to attend here as I like beer especially if brewed locally, and I was looking forward to some German style food. Unfortunately our experience was average at best. The service was poor with staff difficult to get a hold of; at times it looked like they were actively avoiding eye contact whilst doing busy work it was a mission to even get a takeaway container. Worse still, the facilities are poor - I am male and wished to change my child's nappy, only to be informed that the only change table is in the female bathroom - extremely backwards and restrictive - and it appears there was no disabled bathroom. The food came out pretty quickly and was good, with huge portion sizes meaning we filled up and had leftovers. The pork was quite good with good crackling. I'd like to return but perhaps I'll attend a different venue in Hahndorf next time.
Andrew H — Google review
The food is tasty and quite enjoyable. However, the dining experience could be improved: the plates were oily, and at lunchtime there was no staff to greet or guide guests, so you had to find a seat yourself. Many tables were left uncleared after previous customers, and the suitable seats that remained still had water on them. Drinking water and cups also needed to be taken by the customers themselves. Overall, the dishes are worth recommending, but with more attention to service and cleanliness, the experience could be much better.

Had a lovely dinner with friends and we were tucked away in a little nook that made it feel like we had our own private space. It was pretty quiet when we arrived and didn't get very full but the other side was busy. The pretzels were absolute perfection. I think we could have eaten them all night. My schnitzel was huge and the mushroom sauce was delicious. The staff were lovely and helpful and we had a fantastic time.

Took the bus out here while on holiday and found this place for lunch. A couple of guys on piano accordions lured us stop and listen and the menu and free table at lunch time were just what we needed. Great food and beverages, friendly staff and musical entertainment. Definitely worthwhile checking the place out if you are here.

Had a fantastic German lunch here with the fam with big appetites. Crispy pork knuckle variety of wursts mash sauerkraut & gravy. Icy Cold beer & paddles to try a variety of German beers. Friendly staff & helpful regarding choice of beers. The outdoor seating was beautiful under the vines.

The cafe Herbees Garden Cafe is a popular spot in the town for locals and visitors alike. The food is delicious and well presented, with options including smashed avocado, vegan cookie and cream milkshake, and Hahndorf bratwurst. The service can be excellent, particularly when visited with a grandmother after Christmas.
Cute cottage like feel. Food is nice. Art on the wall out back that you can take photos with.

Now this was a bit disappointing. The breakfast was average and the presentation of it was a bit depressing. I must say I was expecting a bit more here. We had two Big Breakfasts and two large flat white coffees and it cost us $51.80, so not to expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. I probably won't return as the are many other establishments in Hahndorf that over a better all round meal.

I have been multiple times and have never been disappointed by the service or quality of the food. My favourite choices are the chicken burger and the big breakfast. This time, I tried the Trio of Sausages and the Vegan Ramen. The food was delicious! I will definitely be coming back and trying more from the menu. The Cafe is set in a small and quiet cottage which is a lovely setting for a brunch. It is decked out with all sorts of different artwork to look at while waiting for the food to be served. I have also enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and watching over the busy main street. The staff are always friendly and attentive too. I highly recommend this beautiful little Cafe.

The Vegan Food is Delicious, the coffee and fresh juice was amazing. (my wife said it was the best coffee of the year) Some of the Friendliest service we've received in a very long time and Who in their right mind can resist a Pastry Cabinet fully Stocked with freshly delivered Claras Cakes?

The Haus Restaurant in Hahndorf, located at the heart of the Adelaide Hills, offers a lively and rustic-chic dining experience. With a patio for al fresco dining, this spot serves up German specialties, breakfast options, and pizzas alongside an extensive selection of wines. The restaurant prides itself on showcasing an impressive array of dishes crafted from locally sourced produce.
We always enjoy having our lunch at The Haus Restaurant every time we have a day at Hahndorf. The service and food are always great. We took our dog this time and we could also order some doggy biscuits for our fur baby. The staff was very kind to provide clean water for our dog without asking. I think this is the restaurant everyone has to try at least once when you are there. Maybe book before you go. They are very busy.

This is an absolute must do on your trip to Hahndorf. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was vibrant a real German feel. The service was what made our visit so special, we were served by Eliana who was the most hospitable, friendly and welcoming waitress. She knew the menu details so well and made sure we were very well looked after. The food was incredible. We loved it so much that we are heading back again very soon!

The Haus Restaurant – ★★★★☆ Wow! 😍 The Pumpkin Salad alone deserves five stars! 🎃🥗 So tender, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor, absolutely delicious! What we loved: • Perfectly cooked pumpkin—soft, tender, and flavorful 🎃✨ • Fresh, vibrant ingredients that complement each other beautifully 🥗💛 • Cozy, welcoming atmosphere 🍴😊 What we tried: • Trio of Wurst 🌭🌭🌭: three popular German sausages, packed with medium flavor and perfectly cooked Tip: Don’t miss the pumpkin salad, it’s a must-try! 🌟😋💛 Thank you 😊

Haus has been my go-to in Hahndorf for nearly a decade. While I still enjoy it, the quality has dropped a little over time - some meals arrive cold, the fish and chips portions vary, and certain dishes lack flavour. I usually stick with the chicken schnitzel (sometimes the mushroom sauce is a bit greasy), as many other options feel a bit hit or miss. It’d be great to see more beef sausage options too, for those who don’t eat pork. That said, their desserts and pizzas are decent! I’ve added photos from different visits

The German Village Shop Hahndorf is a family-run establishment that has been around since 1989, offering an array of imported German products. The shop features intricately designed cuckoo clocks, hand-crafted knives, traditional sweets, and European kitchen curiosities. Visitors can also find fresh meats and cheeses at The German Pantry. The store's Christmas-themed ambiance with cheery music and towering nutcrackers creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Magical atmosphere of cuckoo clocks and old school tin toys. I was so busy playing with the samples that I forgot to take more photos. Must visit!

You’ll absolutely fall in love with this shop… traditional German clocks, nutcrackers, a huge selection of Christmas gifts and souvenirs… Service was super friendly and helpful! A must visit when you’re in Harndorff
Raelene R — Google review
We visited the shop today which is known for it cuckoo clocks. The staff were very friendly and started one of the clocks for us so that we could hear it. There was a huge range of clocks and German crafts on display including wooden toys, Christmas decorations, glassware as well as the cuckoo clocks on the wall. Cuckoo clocks start from $170 for a small clock. There are a few small items that you could purchase for under $15 such as the keying with the cowbell on it. The staff were dressed in traditional German clothing And we’re very friendly. The shop was accessible and very easy to move around in.

A great gift shop filled with fantastic Christmas gift items, the shelves are briming with all things festive, its about mid way along the beautiful main road in Hahndorf, you must see this German village/town settled in the.mid 1800's, a truly amazing place.

A great little shop to get all those German goodies at quite reasonable prices. (Strangely comparable to the German Christmas markets). Location and Layout: (5/5) Smack on the main road makes it easy to access and get to. The store from outside looks small, but when inside it is laid out well with a center billing area and all the sections around making it easy to navigate even with more people. Assortment: (4/5) A really great range of products to choose from. Love the fact that it is Christmas all year round for some of the sections. They also have the Swiss cow bells if you fancy. They do have cuckoo clocks which are really well made. We picked one up and are very happy with it. Packed well for long journeys as well. Service: (5/5) Excellent, the staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything that is in the store. They were helpful with choosing and packing things well. Summary: (4.5/5) All in all a great little store to visit and pick things up in especially around the Christmas season.

Beerenberg Farm, located in Hahndorf, is a family-owned attraction that offers the opportunity to pick fresh strawberries from November to April. Visitors can enjoy the experience of hand-picking their own sweet strawberries for a small entry fee. The farm also features traditional crops such as sweet corn and mixed vegetables.
The environment is really comfortable and welcoming. The food is amazing. I ordered a big brekkie and it is worth every penny. It can feed two people easily in my opinion. It is 1000% worth it to buy any jam, it has an incredible flavour. The strawberry chocolate is so good, as a strawberry fan I highly recommend. Toilets very clean and aesthetic. Plenty of parking. Staff is very friendly. I would love to come back during strawberry harvesting season.

Strawberry picking was absolutely amazing especially with the kids. By far the sweetest juiciest strawberries I’ve ever eaten (eating straight after picking it was the best). Definitely worth going when it’s the season and be ready for a long day out of walking too!

The restaurant crowded of people. The menu selection is quite simple and specialist. Seperate into 2 section. The meal area consist ice cream order. The shop area sell variety of products. Order do it in the counter and remember to tell your table number. Food and drink will be deliver to table. The lamb pie, smokey, bacon & eggs is good. Free flow of water is self service, get the cup and bottle of water from the counter.

Beerenberg Family Farm is a great spot for a day out. The strawberry picking is fun. After picking, the farm shop is well worth a visit. I did a lot of shopping there and stocked up on their fresh jams and local products, all excellent in quality. The place is very well run and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a simple, enjoyable experience that feels genuine and well cared for. A great place to relax, pick strawberries, and take home something delicious.

strawberry picking in beerenberg farm fun day hahaha you can do strawberry picking here but only during Nov to Apr, honestly the ticket is very valuable you can visit strawberry farm and taste a bit, but sadly the strawberry not sweet at all…still a funny experience in hahndorf they have a cafe shop insides with some green plants hanging, quite good environment and the shop next too only bad thing today is keep raining in between we have to stay under the tree to cover ourselves lolll hahaha Beerenberg farm rating of mine: 4.3

Nice relaxing walk from Hahndorf Inn, saw some cows. Strawberry picking not yet started, so we had ice cream & cookies, & browsed at the shop.

The new barn is modern and high-end, and I found the mini museum quite interesting. Although the strawberry patch was closed today, the café was still bustling with people. As part of our mystery trail experience, we collected our meal base and had a quick browse through the shop before leaving. If we hadn’t already had lunch, this would’ve been a lovely spot for a meal—perfect for brunch or lunch in the Adelaide Hills. That said, I feel like Beerenberg Farm has lost some of the charm and personal touches that used to make it such a special place. Little things, like being personally greeted by staff, seem to be missing now.

Established by German settlers in 1838, the village exudes a strong German influence evident in its architecture and cuisine. The inn offers an array of delectable treats including snags, pretzels, homemade cakes, and acclaimed coffee. Additionally, they serve Belgian dishes such as hotdogs and mussels with a French twist.
We had a wonderful lunch here! Even though it was quite busy, the service was quick and very friendly. We asked Pizza with less cheese and pleasr check the photo- cheese is flowing everywhere. We spoke to the wait staff and he said the chef put half the cheese. I spoke to the manager as well she said the chef put half the cheese. They both were lying. We.asked for replacement or refund they refused, very rude behaviour. They both were not chef but said 50% cheese- how do they know so much and how can they speak with that much surety. We asked if we can speak to the chef- which they said no. Very bad experience. Do not recommend anyone to go. The issue is they have big attitude. They have a clear policy that the customer is wrong. We ordered food worth almost $170- 4 people, which is not a small sum. Anyway think about it before going there. Also the cleanliness is an issue- there cutlery and glasses are also not cleaned properly- be careful, You do not want to get SICK with Hepatitis B (as per my knowledge there is no cure for it). am going to lodge complaint with health department and the council. Sorry I couldn't rate less then 1

And the staff recommended their in house baked apple strudel. And it didn’t disappoint either! A lovely place for breakfast. The menu is small but adaptable with multiple add-ons, including a delicious gluten-free toast. I ordered 'Eggs Your Way' with GF toast, a hashbrown, and mushrooms (pictured), which came to me beautifully presented, which speaks highly to the care of the chef. I had high hopes for this place but it turned out to be a beautiful restaurant with food that just didn’t deliver. I was really excited to finish my day in Hahndorf at this gorgeous restaurant but I was left disappointed. First red flag was they recently changed their menu, so the food I saw on Instagram and Google reviews were no longer on the current menu. I also thought their menu was going to be bigger, but there’s only a handful of choices so make sure you check the new menu. I ordered the chicken, the ribeye steak and a cheeseburger for our son. The ribeye steak was appalling - poor meat quality, for $60 a steak, I felt like it was a total rip off. The cheeseburger was really dry and the meat itself didn’t have flavor. The chicken was so-so - not great and not bad. While the service and ambiance were delightful, I can’t skip the part of the food just being a total let down. I hope the owners do something about the quality of the food, the restaurant is far too pretty for it to have subpar meals.

Took my mum out for lunch here and it honestly couldn’t have gone better. From the moment we walked in, the staff were welcoming and warm not in a forced way just genuinely kind. The place itself is small but has a really cozy relaxed feel. It’s the kind of spot you wouldn’t think twice about at first glance, but once you sit down you’re glad you found it. The food was way better than we expected and clearly made with care. My mum kept commenting on how good everything tasted and she’s usually pretty picky when we eat out. We didn’t feel rushed at all and the whole vibe made it easy to just sit chat and enjoy the moment. It’s rare to find places like this that feel personal. The attention to detail, the friendly staff, and the quality of the food made it a standout. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend giving this place a try. It’s a little gem.

The staff and kitchen were great about my dietaries (coeliac (gf), dairy intolerance, peanut allergy) and were able to alter the dishes to suit me and went the extra mile by checking back with us about all the substitutions and what we would prefer. I didn’t take a photo of the octopus bruschetta but this was amazing! Especially for those who are gluten free- I have never had gluten free bread this good in my life. Portions were generous, presentation was beautiful and a very cute atmosphere sitting outside. Would love to come back again! Thanks Vine & Essen!

Hot dog restaurant
Wunderbar Dog Haus is a great spot to grab a delicious and filling meal at an affordable price. The German Pig hotdog is juicy and flavorful, and the option to customize with free sauces adds to the experience. The retro car decor adds a fun touch to the atmosphere. Visitors are recommended to try their hotdogs, which are perfect for a satisfying lunch. The Pig Dog hotdog is particularly praised for its freshness and quick service, with the sauce bar adding an extra element of enjoyment.
The Bacon and Cheesedog to Rule Them All This was honestly the best hotdog I’ve ever had — full stop. The bacon was crispy perfection, the cheese melted like a dream, the kransky had that perfect snap, and the bun was soft enough to make angels sing. The sauce line? Absolute precision. Whoever piped that mustard deserves a medal. Every bite was pure happiness. They’ve got a sign that says “Probably the best tasting hot dog in the world.” Nah mate — it is the best. Straight-up Adelaide icon status. Massive respect to the crew — you’ve nailed it. If you haven’t had a Pig Dog yet, sort your life out and get one. 🌭🔥🇩🇪 #HomeOfThePigDog #AdelaideLegend #RespectTheKransky

The home of the Pig Dog - probably the best tasting hot dog in the world. Apparently. Given how long I had to wait (while an endless parade of others were served ahead of me despite ordering after me), I was expecting something transcendent. You know, “best in the world” level, as per their own breathless self-promotion. Is it a passable, edible hot dog? Sure. But does it come anywhere near living up to its own overinflated hype? Not even close. It’s decent value, I’ll give it that - but ultimately forgettable, painfully average, and absolutely not worth the wait. A solid “meh” from me.

Absolutely delicious hot dogs with character. No forks or normal hot dogs left when we were here but no matter, was still succulent and delicious. If you don't want to sit down in one of the expansive restaurants on the strip this will do nicely!

Can’t say that this is the best in the best tasting hot dog in the world. But it’s mouthwatering in every bite. Love it.

Fantastic hotdog. For $15 its a steal. High quality sausage, soft bun, delicious sauces. Great little stop. My only suggestion is make sure you ask for the cheese to be melted.

Absolutely delicious hot dogs, excellent quality kranskies. Would definitely eat there again. Although, squeezing the sauce udders was a very.... unique experience

It’s a cool restaurant selling hot dogs and lots of German model cars collection! Had a nice chat with the lady in the store. Thanks to her, now I know more cool history of this town and Adelaide! We ordered the pig dog. It’s huge, delicious and very filling!!! I enjoyed my meal and good customer service without doubt!

Bakery
Located at the end of Hahndorf's main street, Otto's Bakery is a charming little cafe offering a variety of pastries and cakes. Visitors recommend trying their fruit cake and rave about the delicious pies, particularly highlighting the chunky meat and flavorful gravy. The bakery opens early, making it a great spot for an early breakfast with excellent food at reasonable prices. Customers praise the Cornish pastie, meat pie, vanilla slice, and latte coffee for their exceptional quality.
Stopped by Otto’s Bakery for the first time in years and tried their classic beef pie again... wow, what a difference! It tastes way better than I remember. The filling is rich and flavorful, with a nice balance of seasoning and super tender beef. The pastry was golden and flaky, just the right amount of crunch without being dry. It honestly felt like a big upgrade from what I had years ago. Really glad I gave it another try!

Great pies! First stop in town was Otto‘s bakery, this gem was just what I was after. I ordered my go to from a bakery, which is a pie, but this time decided to get the lamb and rosemary. I was definitely not disappointed, beautiful big chunks of lamb That were slow cooked, and the rosemary and gravy sauce were delightful. Strongly recommend you try this. I also got the pretzel which was very tasty but maybe a little doughy for me would be great if it was warmed up, but I didn’t have the chance. Staff are friendly and there was plenty of room both inside and outside to sit down, but being the Adelaide Hills, it was rainy, so I decided to sit in the dining room off the side Plenty of space to sit over 20 tables. Plus another dozen also out the front undercover if you want.

Chance upon this bakery, and went it to buy some pies, and apple crumble etc.. for my tomorrow’s breakfast in hotel. There’s an endless walk in of locals buying.. so the food should be of good standard/ quality.

I tried the “bienenstich”, which was recommended by the friendly staff. It was incredible! The family pies looked fantastic (and great value), but I was passing through on a solo trip so couldn’t try one! If I’m ever back in South Australia I’ll be making a beeline for Otto’s Bakery!

A lovely place to stop in Hahndorf for something to eat. The kransky pie was very delicious and there was plenty of seating outside with a pleasant view of the main street!

Bakery with lots of yummy treats to eat onsite or take away. We also enjoyed the meatpies. Convenient and easy location right off main road as you leave town.

Stopped in for a quick takeaway breakfast on our way to Monarto. I can't stress how worthwhile of a detour this was. We got the egg & bacon Brioche, ham & cheese croissant & an apple strudel. The Brioche had an incredibly fluffy egg (omelette?), with delicious, & locally sourced short cut bacon. Despite the fried toppings, it wasn't greasy at all. The croissant was light & flakey, with double smoked ham, complimented nicely by the perfectly melted cheese. Lastly the apple strudel - sweet, without being too sweet. Perfectly sized portion, potentially even being too large. The textures of the different elements come together beautifully in this tasty little treat. Staff were helpful, quick & efficient, and prices were great for what we got. Will definitely be going back.

Nestled in the charming town of Hahndorf, the German Arms Hotel is a stunning Colonial building that dates back to 1839. This historic venue boasts a delightful veranda and serves up hearty German cuisine alongside classic pub fare. Guests can indulge in traditional dishes like bratwurst sausages and sauerkraut while enjoying an impressive selection of local and German beers, as well as a fine wine list.
Dine in during our visit to Handorf. Good atmosphere with quite a crowd on a Thursday afternoon. The food portion was big. Oysters were fresh. We ordered pork knuckles for sharing. Love the fries from fish and chips. Overall a nice place to stop for a meal.

I had an excellent experience at the German Arms Hotel Restaurant. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Hahndorf, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal while exploring the area. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with a wide range of dishes to choose from — from hearty German classics to lighter options. Every dish was fresh, generous in portion, and full of flavour. The interior is warm and inviting, combining modern comfort with a traditional German pub feel. It creates a great atmosphere for both casual meals and special occasions. Of course, the beer selection is outstanding, with plenty of choices to pair perfectly with the food. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend the German Arms Hotel if you’re after great food, excellent beer, and a welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful location. I’ll definitely be back!

The German Arms Hotel is a fantastic spot in Hahndorf and absolutely worth a visit. The building itself is full of charm, with its mix of history and modern touches, and it sets the perfect atmosphere for a hearty meal or a drink with friends. The food is excellent — big portions, full of flavour, and exactly what you’d hope for from a German pub. The schnitzels are a must-try, perfectly cooked and served with generous sides, and the range of German-inspired dishes makes it easy to find something you’ll love. Pairing the food with one of their beers on tap is the perfect combination. The drinks list is impressive, with a great selection of both local and German beers, plus wines and cocktails if that’s more your style. Everything feels well thought out and designed to suit the hearty meals they serve. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the place was busy. Staff were welcoming and made sure everything came out quickly without ever feeling rushed. It’s the kind of genuine hospitality that makes you want to come back. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with a great mix of locals and visitors enjoying themselves. It’s a great place for families, groups, or couples — there’s a bit of something for everyone. Overall, the German Arms Hotel is one of those places that nails it on all fronts: delicious food, great drinks, friendly service, and a warm atmosphere. A perfect stop when you’re in Hahndorf.

I really love this pub - it’s got a great atmosphere and a warm, welcoming feel. After a cold and rainy visit to The Farm Barn up the road, we took the opportunity to wrap up the day with an early dinner here (cold, wet, and over being stalked by goats). The menu is huge - there’s something for everyone - including plenty of options for those craving traditional German fare…or just surviving parenting with a plate of chips. The portion sizes are generous, so don’t be surprised if you end up asking for a takeaway container. On this visit, while the food looked fantastic on the plate, it was let down a little by a lack of seasoning and depth of flavour. Our pretzel and chips were also a bit overdone. That said, we’ll definitely be back - because we really do love it here!

Exceptional place for food, drinks and soaking in the local environment. - Staff were very efficient and knowledgeable of their products. - Food service was surprisingly quick. - Meals were delicious and value for money with portion sizes. Note: this is a busy establishment but staff were excellent at finding a place to sit and very efficient table at service. I highly recommend this place if you want to experience Hahndorf and the German culture.

We had lunch here today. Although the place was packed, the staff was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. We were able to order quickly, and our food was served in only about ten minutes. While the food wasn't mind-blowing, it was certainly good enough. The menu offered dishes in the $20+ range, and our bill for two, including drinks, was $54.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The German Arms Hotel – Hahndorf 🇩🇪🍻 Had the $39 dinner buffet and it was absolutely worth it! The prawns were fresh and full of flavour 🍤, the bread was soft and warm 🥖, and the sausages were rich, juicy, and packed with that authentic German taste 🌭🔥. Booked online using my RAA membership discount, which made it even better value 💵👏. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and welcoming — classic Adelaide Hills charm at its best 🌿. Leather goods store
Hahndorf Leathersmith and Bush Gallery is a delightful destination for anyone who appreciates quality leather goods. As you wander through the store, you'll be captivated by the unique atmosphere, where messages from customers around the globe are creatively displayed on pieces of leather. The walls and ceilings adorned with foreign currency add to its charm. Shoppers can find everything from cozy Ugg boots—perfect for winter—to personalized items like custom dog collars crafted during engaging workshops led by skilled artisans.
Hugo has done a great job with complete new foam and leather. Also the cover as well. Very happy with advice on leather that would look aged quickly. Leather interior is 12 months old and just had cover completed. Speaks for itself.

My husband and I were in Hahndorf recently while on holidays from Sydney. We’ve been looking for a couple of long quilted oilskin coats for our retirement in 4 years. We found the type of coats we were looking for, The Franklin, but not in our size. Thankfully they were able to order the coats for us and post them to Sydney. A big thank you to Leah for her excellent customer service, the coats arrived within the week! This shop is very quirky and has so much charm, love the open fireplace and the uneven floors! An absolute must when visiting Hahndorf.

We had our wedding at Comida in Hahndorf and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The garden atmosphere created such a lovely, romantic setting for our special day. The staff were absolutely fantastic - incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process and on the day itself. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The Spanish-themed menu was a huge hit with our guests. The food was epic, and the drinks selection perfectly complemented the cuisine. Everyone raved about the meal! If you're looking for a wedding venue with character, delicious food, and a team that genuinely cares about making your day special, I can't recommend Comida highly enough. 10/10!

We were quite excited having found a Spanish restaurant in Hahndorf. We did not make a reservation but we were offered a table towards the end of the restaurant, at first we were quite happy there, however we soon realized that we had made a mistake. 3 young ladies at an adjacent table made so much noise from beginning to the end of our dinner with very loud voices and laughter. One could not hear the music imagine our own voices. We wondered why no one from the service noticed that and or spoke to them. Anyway we had the most bizarre paella ever. I have eaten paella in Majorca and in many fine Spanish restaurants. I do cook paella myself and I have never seen something like that (see attached pics). It looked more like a fried rice to me. The service was also not very attentive and professional. We had to ask for attention a couple of times. Conclusion it was a very disappointing experience.

A magical wedding venue, tucked off of the main street of Hahndorf. I performed a wedding here in September 2025, and it was a beautiful and magical afternoon, under the willow tree on the amazing grounds. Highly recommend this as a wedding venue and look forward to performing future wedding ceremonies at this hidden Hahndorf hotspot!

First time, but not the last time visitor. Loved the food recommendations from my lovely Waitress. I have really ever sat down for a Spanish meal before, so this was a treat. Recently bought your truffle brie and loved it. 180g I believe you should speak to your label makers. Trying to get the labels of the wrap was a task and a half. The glue is to strong and causes the label to peel awkwardly. (the laminates on the labels peel apart). Otherwise well done!

Hahndorf Fish And Chips is known for their fresh seafood, including fish and prawns. The batter on the dishes is crispy, which is vital for creating delicious fish and chips. The portion sizes are generous, making it suitable for those with smaller appetites. The prawns and calamari are also large in size. Customers thoroughly enjoy their meals at this restaurant, praising the sweet and succulent hake, perfectly cooked calamari, and juicy plump prawns.
John is a kind and generous man who simply makes really great fish and chips. Nothing fancy, no fusion inspired rubbish or vegan friendly plant fish. Just bloody good traditional fish and chips!! The best I have ever had in Australia and the equal to the best I have ever had in England. Haven’t stayed here before. The rooms are quite old, but they are clean. House keeping is excellent. We have been very impressed with the food and service in the bistro. Was hoping we found a decent Chinese takeaway that was closer to home, however we were let down again. Honey chicken was very different than the traditional kind we’re used to (sliced breast and quite gingery) and the satay beef was way too sweet and shouldn’t be sweet at all. Very let down after reading all the good reviews and I can only assume that these people must love added sugar in their meals as that was all I could taste. Quite pricey for the portion sizes too. Gave three stars (rather than less) as their fried rice was great and service was friendly, however for good Chinese in the Hills we’ll stick to Balhannah.
Shane N — Google review
Had a really satisfied meal last night with my husband. We ordered two dishes and a fried rice. Their portion was generous and the food was delicious. Waitress was friendly and service was fantastic! Would like to come back next time for other dishes.

I love this restaurant and have been eating there for a very long time. The food is delicious and if you order a favourite you know it will be as good as the last time you had it. The staff are polite and very efficient. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. It's my favourite place to eat and would defineately recommend it.
Liz C — Google review
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for 16 years and I’ve never been disappointed. This is my family’s favourite Chinese restaurant and we only speak highly of this place! The food is absolutely delicious especially their Satay Beef and Mongolian Lamb. The waitresses are lovely to talk to and willing to make your experience with them perfect and comfortable! There is parking out the back so don’t be put off that it’s on a busy street. Don’t hesitate to eat here, you won’t be disappointed!
Demi S — Google review
The dishes we had were too sweet, and Mongolian Lamb shouldn’t be. The serves were a bit small, at restaurants in the city with the same order we’d have heaps left over. Given the small dishes, high prices and average food, I’d give this place a miss. I guess hill folk are easily pleased.
Kris K — Google review
Friendly service and a couple of vegetarian options were available on request. Found meals to be a little more salty than I would like, but still quite nice. I still took leftovers home to have at lunch the next day.
Heiko S — Google review
Owner needs to try takeaway from Cathay Court @ Brooklyn Park as an improvement to your business model. If you make your dishes and take away like theirs .... You will have a line up down the road nightly...seriously check it out ... You'll be booked out just doing takeaway. Dishes were a bit small for the price, and so much onion. But ok 👍

Hahndorf Fruit & Veg Market is a great place to do your weekly shopping. There's a huge range of fruit and vegetables, as well as milk, cheese, meats and pies. There's also a beautiful florist who can create amazing arrangements. The market has plenty of parking and it's always friendly and helpful staff.
Nice little fresh food market featuring fruits and local produce of Adelaide. The prices are pretty good vs big supermarkets. The produce display is gorgeous and worth the visit. I was tempted into buying many small quantities of several fruits and was pleasantly surprised that the friendly cashier processed the fruits quickly and efficiently without any negative reaction (I'm used to very unhappy, very human cashiers lol) Very friendly staff and a lovely product range. I would go again when visiting Hanhdorf in the future

It was my first visit. I very much enjoyed exploring all the fresh produce that is on offer. It's great to see that all the fresh items are locally sourced. A very clean store with friendly staff - Cale at the checkout was most pleasant - and ample off-street parking. I'll definitely shop here again. Update: The second visit resulted in purchasing pies, pizzas, fruit and quiches. All very tasty 😋

Saturday mornings here is an outing in itself. They have cabinets outside selling fresh bread, croissants, cakes, donuts and coffee. The staff is always friendly and their produce is the best around. Beautiful flowers too. Great prices and great services. Check them out

Cute place to pass through unfortunately everything shuts early and the prices are certainly marked up! Does get crowded and finding a place to park was a pain,

Every time I go to Hahndorf, I stop by this place to buy cakes and daily necessities. Shopping experience is what I'm most satisfied with. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Sam's popcorn is worth a try. Goods are displayed in a large, clean & neat space. The flowers here are always kept fresh & beautiful. I aso like the squid pizza at the bakery and pizza counter in front of the store. Thanks!

The Hahndorf Farm Barn is a delightful attraction for families with children, offering an interactive farm experience. Kids can immerse themselves in farm life by feeding and cuddling various animals such as lambs, camels, donkeys, and calves. They can also try their hand at milking a cow and enjoy pony or tractor rides.
What a wonderful experience for the parents and kids to create memories. I was mostly impressed by how the staff made you feel so welcome and unafraid of feeding the animals and holding the reptiles. The reptile show is a must to see ! The rain did not keep us away
Kellee W — Google review
We went on a Saturday. There were 4 deers and they live in a big enclosed area where you can feed them closely. Tractor and pony ride are also unique experience for kids. Milk show lets audience try milking the cow. Reptile show lets audience pat some reptiles. The activities are attractive to kids under 8, bigger kids get a bit bored. Spending 2.5 hours in the farm was enough for my kids.
Clarence M — Google review
Really fun experience for the family. There are a lot of interesting farm animals for the kids too see, and this suits most ages from young toddlers up to, and beyond teenagers. The animals are friendly (some, including the deer are a bit pushy for food) and there is a lot to see. Definitely worth visiting or making a trip to see - about 40 minutes from the Adelaide CBD.
Andrew H — Google review
It was freezing and windy, but the service was lovely, and such a great hands on experience for everyone to learn how to milk a cow, how to feed and take care of any farm animals. We grab warm drinks and left after we had feed all the animals, brought some honey, and patted the baby animals enough times. It's definitely a place I highly recommend, just on a warmer day and a weekend so you can ride the tracker, and the horses.
Tarra M — Google review
Such a lovely experience of being in a farm. The tractor ride was really fun with the cattle grazing on yellow mountains. That was such an aesthetically pleasant sight. The animals on the farm were also lovely. Had a fun time with the toy tractors and excavators
Abhishek G — Google review
I visited Hahndorf Farm Barn with my family over the weekend and we had a fantastic time. The entry prices are reasonable, and there’s a wide range of activities to enjoy, including animal feeding, horse rides, kids’ excavators and tractors, a play area, a lizard show, and a cow-milking demonstration. The surroundings are beautiful, making it a perfect spot for a family day out. Highly recommended.
Charitha D — Google review
We had our granddaughters birthday party here. Fantastic. Very well organised and run by a really lovely young lady who had everything under control. The kids milked a cow. Bottle fed the lambs. Fed carrots to the other farm animals. It was a great day out
Georgie F — Google review
Took the GK's (Miss 3 & Miss 5) on a Friday. They enjoyed the milking show and then walking around outside, feeding the deer, kangaroos, goats, sheep & calves. They loved being on the kids playground and the picnic area was nice, but the wind was up, so quite cold (it was late May). Will come back on a weekend so Miss 5 can do the pony rides.

Park
Keith Stephenson Park, located on Adelaide Road in Mount Barker, is a popular recreational destination that offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features hike-and-bike paths, a duck pond, playground, skatepark, picnic tables and a rotunda with plenty of seating. It has been recently upgraded and reopened in December 2023. Families often gather at the park for events such as carols by candlelight and it serves as a meeting place for the local community.
Easily a 5 star walk in the park. Beautifully kept, clean tidy and safe. Great for families as there are good trails, fences playground and clean bathrooms. Nice kept flowers (roses) on display and lots of wildlife to checkout. Memorial trees are interesting to read. Easy access from different parts, easy to get to the skate park as well.

This is a great park for people who enjoy tranquility. It is part of the larger Mount Barker linear park network. From the highest point of the park you get a view of the Mount Barker city centre, Adelaide Rd, a lake, Mount Barker Summit and the Western Flat Creek. I highly recommend this park.

What a gem in the middle of busy Mount Barker. I have driven past on many occasions and am delighted to have finally taken the time to walk through it. There is a children's playground, toilets, heaps of benches and picnic tables, lots of birdlife and a beautiful lake.

Always a nice park. Has parking close by and a Rotunda. Swings for the kids and a special swing for wheelchairs. You can walk on the track which connects to the Wetlands or ride your bikes. Make sure the bike is fitted with a bell so you don't sneak up on the runners.

The Lane Vineyard is a chic and contemporary winery that features a tasting room and a restaurant serving modern Australian cuisine. Located in the Adelaide Hills, it offers a great dining experience with its delicious food and excellent service. The vineyard is an ideal spot for a long lunch, providing visitors with the opportunity to savor modern Australian dishes while enjoying the picturesque surroundings.
Wow, what a fantastic dining experience. Lovely settings with great panoramic views and a really wide open space. For our anniversary there was a complimentary bottle of wine, and the tasting menu was great. Lots of mini courses to try a lot of dishes and work our way through a wide variety of favours. Food quality is great, made from locally sourced ingredients and their wine is certainly one of the best to come out of SA both in terms of quality and variety. Really had a great time and the staff were great. Hope to be back soon.

Just a 7 minutes drive from the somewhat formulaic German cuisine of Hahndorf, is a stunning vineyard with amazing food and service. Our party of four shared loads of eclectic appetisers and had one main dish and it was a perfect amount. Service was flawless, professional and friendly. Reservations essential and perhaps drop any mobility challenged at the restaurant entrance as parking is extensive. Charming views on a glorious day. A bottle of Rose was a perfect pairing and the sparkling glass option of Blanc de Blanc was excellent. It was the highlight of our visit to the area.

We went here for my birthday and was greeted on our arrival with a lovely glass of bubbles, food was excellent and wine also. Will definitely be back
David S — Google review
The Lane Vineyard was such a dreamy stop on our Adelaide Hills wine day. The whole place has this effortlessly elegant vibe, with beautifully manicured hedges that honestly made us feel like we’d been transported to a little corner of Europe. We did the tasting paddle, which was a great way to try a variety – all so well-crafted and unique. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere felt both polished and super relaxed. One of our favourite parts was the walk down to the lake – peaceful, scenic, and such a lovely way to soak up the surroundings. You can really feel the care and intention behind everything at The Lane. Highly recommend!

If you're visiting on a weekday, I highly recommend trying the 4-course Chef’s Selection from the Harvest menu. It offers a unique experience where you can enjoy the chef’s ever-evolving, creative dishes made from the freshest seasonal ingredients—perfectly paired with The Lane’s outstanding wines. The Lois NV Sparkling, Chardonnay, and Rosé are unbelievably good for their price. A must-visit spot for wine and food lovers!

My partner and I had a fabulous lunch at The Lane this week to celebrate my birthday. The staff were lovely and welcoming on arrival and gave us some sparkling as a birthday toast to start our meal. We had a beautiful table overlooking the vineyards. The rose and Lois Lane sparkling were delicious. For the food we particularly enjoyed the MP Angus beef and the croquettes with bread and butter pickles. Thank you for making my birthday lunch so lovely!!!

Beautiful location & stunning view. Conveniently located on the T801 line if travelling by bus from the city. My sister and I had the Wild Safari gin flight and the schnapps flight. Incredible tasting gin and schnapps! The server (don’t know his name) was amazing, super kind and extremely knowledgeable. Could not recommend this place more for a cozy sunset drink. Made the last day in Adelaide even more special! We will definitely be coming back ASAP! (P.S please pass on to whoever was serving us a huge thank you for his amazing service and hospitality)

We went to Ambleside today for a quick bite to eat and a cheeky drink. Jen was amazing. I had the Lady Marmalade cocktail....OK I had two, venison tatare and fries. My husband loves tartare and he said that this was one of the best he had tried. We live locally and I know this will become our go to spot! I have always loved their gins, but the food has now become a firm favourite as well. Congratulations guys.

The food was delicious, with dietary requirements accommodated with outstanding options by the creative kitchen staff. The professional and friendly Bar and food serving staff were an absolute delight. All requests were greeted with a smile and a prompt follow up and follow through. The array of beverages on offer were excellent too!!! We will definitely return to this remarkable establishment soon. We can highly recommend!!!

Here for a once off day trip and I’ve gotta recommend it… Being outside of the bustle and hustle of Hahndorf, you’ll find it’s peaceful without much of a crowd. Apart from that, the drinks and tastings are as nice as they come and you could say it’s standard but’s still good. Additionally, if you get yourself the chicken schniddy (schnitzel) you’ll congratulate yourself on the choices you’ve made… Ambleside Distillers, it is owed the merit and recognition of being TOP NOTCH GROUSE!!!

The Cedars is a historic property that served as the residence, studio, and inspiration for the renowned Australian landscape artist Sir Hans Heysen. Nestled on a 36-acre estate that later expanded to 132 acres, this picturesque setting was home to Heysen and his family. Visitors can explore the evocative stone studio nestled among gum trees and view around 200 original artworks displayed in changing exhibits.
I was recommended to visit that incredible place by my friend. From my point of view, autumn is the most perfect time to go there. Due to bushfires we could see only Heysen's daughter studio and half of the garden. But even though I was so impressed. We took a self-guided tour, because we arrived too late, before they closed. Nevertheless, it was a good decision as well. We were all alone and could enjoy the beauty of the place and had a small picnic. I definitely will come back to take a guided tour to see the rest and know more about his life and creations.

I have been wanting to come here for a few years and so happy to have achieved my goal of seeing how Hans painted the Flinders Ranges; (from which we were heading home to Vic.) The house tour was fantastic- our Wednesday guide John was very knowledgeable. All the staff were most welcoming. I had bought my tickets on line no way did I want to miss out, it meant I could tag along with another earlier group tour. There is a lot of earth works currently in progress as a new gallery is being constructed. I look forward to seeing the old and the new together.

Visited Three Gums Bistro for a Yuletide luncheon and was impressed by the exceptional food, attentive staff, and excellent service. Unfortunately, the resort owner is not renewing the lease, which is a shame considering all the hard work put in by the dedicated staff. It will be challenging to find someone as special to replace them. Nonetheless, I want to express my gratitude to all the current staff and wish them success in their future endeavors.

Set in pretty surroundings in the quaint location of Hahndorf. The menu, although not extensive caters for all tastes and if it’s not on the menu, for example beef Wellington, the give owner/ Chef Matt two days notice and he will prepare it. He caters for all dietary requirements, attends the guests personally, checking during the meal if everyone is happy with their order. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit as a family and will certainly be back.

Prancing Pony Brewery has quickly become a prominent fixture in the local beer scene despite being only 10 years old. The brewery and restaurant, located just off the beaten path, offer visitors a chance to witness the magic behind their acclaimed fire-brewed ales. Recently relocated to a larger shed at 42 Mount Barker Rd, Totness, Prancing Pony continues to draw attention with its exceptional brews.
I went here today with the family. I'd never gone before, and it was excellent. It was a good-sized meal and delicious. I ordered the drinks paddle to taste and was very satisfied. The staff were friendly and helpful. I recommend trying here. You won't regret it.

I have previously completed a review for this place with a pretty high score. However after visiting today for their new breakfast I will revise that higher. I had one of the best Ham & Cheese/ Tomato toasties & coffee in ages. The service was amazing including a great talk with the Boss lady. The other staff member was also super friendly & comical. We had a few laughs. Please support this Hills Icon. I also bought a couple of cans of beer to go & they supported me as well, it didn't go unnoticed. Thanks 🐴🐍

Excellent brisket burger and lamb skewers. Wide selection of beers for everyone's taste. Chill atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Food was outstanding, both beers and food were fantastic. Service is great but only 4 stars because Australia is very do it yourself, so you order from the QR code or at the bar and some nice person your food. Atmosphere was out of this world, live music great environment, was raining and the beer gardens were still packed with people, must be good otherwise who’s staying in the rain! We enjoyed our schnitzels both the beef and chicken are great we observed many pizzas that looked delicious and smelled great. Only downside was we were a bit cold seated by the door, but it was windy and raining and at least we were Inside which doesn’t seem to bother some of their loyal patrons. We even found them the next day in downtown Adelaide at our chosen lunch spot as the local beer of choice. So we partook again.

What a great experience we had here! The kids got to eat good food and the parents got to relax and have a few drinks while the kids were entertained in the kids corner. Big shout out to Prancing Pony for creating such a fun vibe & kid friendly atmosphere .

It was a very hot evening when we visited, so it wasn't very pleasant to eat in as they don't have air-conditioning. However, trying a few different beers was great. We also had a chicken pizza to share which was pretty average and expensive at $30 considering the toppings were minimal. I will try something different next time and perhaps try their schnitzel night on Thursdays.

Food & Drink
Nepenthe Cellar Door, located just 25 minutes from the city in Adelaide Hills, has recently undergone a stunning renovation. The state-of-the-art building boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious outdoor deck with panoramic views. Visitors can enjoy guided wine tastings, indulge in cheese and charcuterie boards, or opt for private tasting experiences. The winery's elevated altitude and cool climate result in faithful wine varietals with unique nuances.
Nepenthe was one of the highlights of our Adelaide Hills wine adventure! The setting is absolutely stunning – sweeping views, lush vines, and such a peaceful vibe that you instantly feel relaxed the moment you arrive. We were genuinely impressed by the wines. The Blanc de Blancs was a standout for me – earthy, refined, and so easy to enjoy. Hubby also loved the Pinot Noir, which had great depth and character, and the Gewürztraminer, which was aromatic, fresh, and just a little bit different in the best way. The staff were lovely – friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to guide us through the tastings without any rush. It felt personal and unpretentious, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend making a stop here if you’re in the region. Gorgeous wine, even better views, and a truly memorable experience!

Magical day, sitting VIP, with the sun shining, VIP service, experimenting with tte Apex complex Chardonnay with cheese platter, followed by another beautiful Spanish style white. Service was exemplary! David was passionate about wine talk and happy to share his wealth of knowledge. Sunny winter’s day as a bonus. Cannot wait to return to try more Nepenthe wines and relish in sitting in the VIP patio lounges

Visited Nepenthe Wines in Hahndorf on my birthday, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences ever! The place is surrounded by stunning hills and vineyards — the kind of view that instantly puts you at peace. We started with a wine tasting, and every pour had its own charm — smooth, fresh, and full of flavour. The staff were super friendly and took the time to explain each wine, making the whole experience even better. We also ordered the bread and dip platter, which was simple yet delicious — fresh bread, creamy dips, and the perfect pairing with their wines. Sitting outdoors with a glass of wine, enjoying the view, and spotting a few kangaroos in the distance made it even more special. As someone who enjoys photography, this place is a paradise — every corner has that natural, scenic charm that’s perfect for photos. Overall, Nepenthe Wines is the perfect blend of great wine, good food, and breathtaking views — an amazing spot to celebrate special moments or just relax with friends. 🍇✨

A friendly welcome when we arrived and we were looked after by Lauren. She was knowledgeable of all the wines and guided us through a lovely tasting on the de k area. Beautiful setting and great wines.

Even with the clouds rolling over the hills, Nepenthe Winery still felt like a hidden gem in the sky. The place reeked of charm and sophistication. Love their Chardonnay — smooth, crisp, and full of character. Absolutely worth taking a bottle home (or two). 🍇✨ AUD 15 wine tasting fee can be refunded when you purchase at least 2 bottles😍 Special shoutout to Marie, whose warmth and knowledge made the whole visit even more memorable. Her service was genuine and welcoming — the kind of hospitality that sticks with you. Cloudy day? Yes. Cloudy mood? Not a chance. Would definitely come back!

My wife and I recently visited Nepenthe Cellar Door, and we had an amazing experience! The view was absolutely stunning, and the wines were fantastic. Ben, really made the visit special—he was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. We even learned that the dishwashing machines are named Harry and Debbie, which gave us a good laugh! The whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We would definitely recommend Nepenthe to anyone looking for a great time with excellent wine and service!

We had the most wonderful experience at Nepenthe Wines! A huge thank you to Ben for his incredible hospitality and wealth of knowledge when it comes to planning events — he made everything feel effortless. The wine was absolutely delicious, and the views were simply breathtaking. It’s the perfect spot for a small, intimate wedding of around 20 people — you’ll truly be treated like royalty. Highly recommend visiting Nepenthe for an unforgettable experience!

For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Stanley Bridge Tavern. Stanley Bridge Tavern, located in Verdun in the Adelaide Hills, is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and families alike. The tavern offers a delectable lineup of burgers, including cheeseburger, chicken schnitty burger, and halloumi burger. Their slow-roasted beef brisket and slow-cooked duck are soul-warming dishes that pair perfectly with a glass of Shiraz. The recently renovated outdoor area provides a sunny spot to enjoy meals while overlooking lush paddocks.
Stanley Bridge Tavern offers a great dining experience with delicious food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu has a good variety, and the meals are well-prepared. The staff are attentive, making the visit enjoyable. A solid choice for a relaxed meal or drinks with friends.

What a perfect spot for lunch on a cold rainy afternoon in the hills … sitting by the fire drinking a local Pinot … food, service and atmosphere was incredible. I would totally recommend the cauliflower curry - so delicious!

First time visit with friends for lunch at the Stanley Bridge Tavern and we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon of fine food and friendship. We pre-booked our luncheon as suggested and the entire establishment filled quickly for the lunch trade soon after our midday arrival. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, well prepared and good size portions. Pleasant ambience even with a full house of guests. Management we're also happy to split the bill which was helpful. 15% surcharge for Sundays and Public Holidays... Happy to come back and try other items on the menu..!

Lovely food, great staff. Will come back in summer as I want to try the outdoor area out. Returned again over 3 years later, greeted by hotel manager Matt who made us both feel incredibly welcome. His service was immaculate. Great afternoon for lunch. Thank you

Had a catch up lunch on a Sunday with 9 others. Superb service and meals. Relative reasonable price meals which were plentiful and tasty. The young staff were extraordinary with their manners, customer service and attention. A credit to management. We all loved it.

Lovely staff were super accommodating for us to bring our dog. They put us next to a giant heater outside, gave us blankets and our dog a water bowl. The food was excellent and it’s a really lovely spot. We’ll be back!
John D — Google review
Food was lower than average in terms of taste, quality, and presentation. Chips were so salty they were almost inedible, the beer batter on the fish was too thick with a big gap between it and the small bit of fish inside. The T bone steak was also very salty and was served with only a side of chips. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Grünthal Brew, located in Hahndorf, is a family-friendly venue that offers great food, craft beer, wine, and gin. The owners also run the Udder Delights cheese company and incorporate their cheeses into the menu. The cozy space features a fireplace and comfortable couches. Visitors can enjoy a unique beer-tasting experience with a paddle of beers to explore. The outdoor area is spacious and suitable for families with kids.
Amazing spot. Wonderful setting, great facilities. We loved the wine, the gin and the beers. The activities for kids were incredible. The shady surrounds next to the creek were lovely on a hot day. The staff service was beautifully warm and helpful. Our food was really nice too. Could not complain about a single thing.

The experience was amazing! Despite the rainy day on Easter Sunday, the drive up to this place was worth it. My group tried the feed me option and we didn’t regret choosing it - we get to try all the amazing classics and best menu they had! 10/10 would recommend going in for a drive near Hanhdorf or trying out some drinks on a brewery with some pizzas on the side! 😋🔥

One of the best family friendly places in Adelaide Hills. It’s a micro-brewery offering wine, gin, coffee, cheese flights and amazing pizzas among other food options. Lots of indoor and outdoor options to choose from. You will need a booking though as it’s a very popular place. For kids, they have this big boat sandpit, a cubby house, cow statue (possible from previous Udder Delights venue) various games and a stream running by at the back of the property. We have visited here multiple times and have had a great time and great food each time. Each pizza is amazing so it’s difficult to choose which one is the best. Highly recommend it 👍

I booked a large group of 20 people, 13 adults, and 7 kids for a birthday. We did the feed my group option and were very happy and full from all the food we were given. Plus, the kids' ice cream sundae was a highlight. I didn't take photos of everything as I was too busy eating. I highly recommend checking this place out. Great for families, with a few kids' activities outside. The manager is very friendly and helpful and all the staff were amazing. Thank you Grünthal!
Annie B — Google review
The place is very nice, but the taste of the pizza did not meet my expectations. One recommendation is to book a table inside, as you will have a better chance to try all the pizza flavors if you order “all you can eat pizza”. If you book outside, you might not be able to taste all the options. For me, the best pizza was the mushroom variety. Additionally, they close earlier than the time mentioned on their website. I'm not disappointed, but I believe the experience could be improved!

A few months ago I had an incredible dining experience with great food and service at Grünthal Brew. From this experience I thought I would come back with friends. In good faith, I paid $30 to reserve a table and was really looking forward to a nice time out. After my visit this past weekend the food was still great but the service has taken a dive and was absolutely appalling. Our empty plates and empty glasses were aggressively snatched from our table by various waiters and waitresses throughout our ‘2 hour’ booking/dining session. A minimum of a 10 minute wait in line for food and drinks. A male ‘waiter’ came to our table and abruptly says ‘this is your 15 minute warning’. This was with zero tact and zero care. And remained hostile towards us until we left. We were tracking that we had 2 hours and did not need to be spoken to and treated so poorly overall. When feedback was given directly to that male ‘waiter’ he was dismissive and said ‘people complain all the time here.’ And continued his hostility towards us. I have emailed Grünthal Brew and informed them of our poor experience directly and disappointingly received a pretty generic reply. Good luck in your endeavours.

Visited here today for our first time. (sons & partners second time) Extremely warm & welcoming Staff. (We got there way too early for our booking), but we were promptly put on a temporary table, as it was freezing outside. Was then offered some free cheese tasting. Family-friendly, and the standard of food was unbelievable. Great job Grunthal. We will tell more of our Friends & we will definitely be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, Sidewood Estate Restaurant offers a delightful experience for visitors. Surrounded by eucalyptus and landscaped gardens, this family-run winery is just a short drive from Hahndorf Village. The restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere with a crackling fireplace, making it an ideal spot to savor flavorful meals paired with their award-winning wine selection. Guests can also admire eclectic Australian artwork displayed throughout the venue.
Our group of six adults and one child visited here for a Saturday lunch, and from start to finish, it was a delightful dining experience. We had made a reservation in advance, which was a smart move as the place was bustling yet well-organized. To start, we shared the warm garlic focaccia with caramelised onion butter — a standout beginning with its rich, buttery flavor and perfectly baked bread. For mains, three of us opted for the 350gm Butcher Cut Wagyu steak, which was beautifully cooked and packed with flavor. One adult had the braised beef short rib, which was tender and satisfying, while two others enjoyed the fish of the day — fried barramundi, cooked to perfection with a side of delicious charred cabbage that added a lovely smoky element. The child had the popcorn chicken with chips, a reliable favorite, though we were slightly disappointed that it was served last, after all the adult meals. Ideally, children’s meals should arrive first. We also shared a couple of sides: roasted potatoes and a winter salad, both fresh and well-seasoned, complementing the mains nicely. Our drinks included a refreshing cider, a lovely glass of Sidewood Estate “Mad Cat” Rosé, as well as espresso and lemongrass/ginger tea to finish. Overall, the food was excellent, the ambience was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The only area for improvement would be the timing of the kid’s meal — a small but notable detail in an otherwise flawless experience.

Delicious food and warm atmosphere, kids can play outside at the playground while waiting for food, plenty of outdoor area to enjoy. Our server Stella was very helpful, she goes beyond to find us warm water and chilly paste as requested by our guests. So glad to find a restaurant with great food and environment, not as crowded as those in Hahndorf, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! We will not hesitate to bring our visiting friends and family to Sidewood again.

Sareena gave us a very friendly and informative wine tasting. Her bubbly personality and passion for wine added to our experience. Our wines were taken to the restaurant where we were having lunch. When we collected them, we were thrilled with the gift she had left in the bag for my husband's birthday. Such a kind gesture. Restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive and the pizza was superb. Thank you

I’ve been to Sidewood multiple times and it’s always a great experience. The food is consistently good — the standout for me this time was the steak, which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The prawn curry was decent, although it wasn’t quite what I expected — it was a very small portion and didn’t feel like a true curry dish. Overall, I highly recommend Sidewood. The service is excellent every time, and it’s a great spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal.
Amin J — Google review
The menu looked good but the wait staff looked very young and inexperienced. All glassware on the table was dirty and covered in water spots. Starters were brought to the table and we had to ask for side plates to share them on. Our steaks ($38) arrived cold, but flavour-wise they were beautiful. We were barely spoken to. I understand young wait staff are cheaper on a Saturday, but please teach them how to serve tables.
Ella W — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We did the tasting masterclass at Sidewood Estate yesterday, and it completely exceeded our expectations. Our session was led by Hugh, one of the winemakers, and he was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge, warmth, and passion for his craft were next level — you could feel how much he truly loves what he does. He made everyone feel welcome, explained everything in such an engaging way, and his enthusiasm was contagious. It wasn’t just a wine tasting, it was an experience that made us appreciate the art of winemaking on a whole new level. Hugh is an absolute credit to Sidewood. I can’t recommend him or this experience highly enough.
Kate T — Google review
Service was extremely slow and inconsistent. We waited almost 30 minutes for the server to get me the beer I ordered. The server was apologetic but continued to make the same mistakes. Our table of 3 all ordered the 3 course meal. It was not communicated to our table that this was a share food experience. The food was ok but when they only brought out 2 plates of the steak they didn't provide plates for us to use. The salad which was supposed to be served with the meal came out almost 15 minutes after the steaks arrived. We advised the server of our concerns and it took them almost 30 minutes to clarify the issue and acknowledge our concerns of miss communication and poor service. This was the same as the dessert which was also served on 2 plates with the expectation of sharing. They offered an apology and a free tasting paddle which was appreciated. However, by this point we were already disappointed with the service and not enjoying the food and wanted to leave. In summary, I would not recommend Sidewood Estate Restaurant as a dine in experience given my experience there. The atmosphere was nice and could see it being enjoyable however, our table could not see past the service experience.

An unforgettable save by Matthew and the team! We booked a luxury day bed for 5 among the stunning gardens and bocce grounds, excited for the full Sidewood dining experience. On arrival, we were initially told the day-bed area only served pizzas and focaccias — a surprise, as nothing in the online booking mentioned this limitation. Disappointed, we prepared to leave for lunch elsewhere. That’s when Matthew, the restaurant manager, stepped in. He listened, apologised, and made it happen. Within minutes, he rearranged seating, welcomed us into the main restaurant, and started us with complimentary drinks of our choice. No fuss, just genuine care. The service from there was flawless — warm, attentive, and full of heart. The food was sublime: cloud-like focaccia with velvety herbed butter, beautifully executed mains, and desserts that elevated our taste buds to the next level. The ambience in the restaurant was perfect; we felt truly special. Matthew didn’t just fix a booking mix-up — he turned disappointment into one of our best dining experiences ever. His leadership under pressure was outstanding. We’ll be back, without question. Thank you, Matt, and the entire Sidewood team. Highly recommend — book the restaurant if you want the full menu!

Fourth Hill Providore is a delightful spot to savor a leisurely morning and relish the finer things in life. Their menu offers an array of breakfast, focaccia, and lunch options in various portion sizes, complemented by a selection of local wines, beers, spirits, and hot beverages. During summer, guests can bask in the sunshine on the lawn. Additionally, it's an ideal venue for hosting events with customizable function packages.
Wonderful relaxed atmosphere for great food! We came for a relaxed breakfast and were happy to find a nice spot in the garden with ample space for us and our dog. The food was very good - but most of all we enjoyed the relaxed summer atmosphere in the garden. Friends, couples, families, pets - all shared the garden and had a great time. A glass of Prosecco on a perfect holiday morning experience.

I will give you 5 stars the venue is stunning, only had coffee & cake but love my Cappucinos with chocolate dusting on the top as it should be but the dusting was just a slither not enough to use a spoon & enjoy with the Crema. We were keen to try out breakfast spots in the Adelaide Hills and happened to come across Fourth Hill Providore. The space was lovely and peaceful, and we were pleasantly surprised by how affordable the breakfast was, almost half the price of what we’d usually pay in the Adelaide CBD! The coffee was good, and everything we ordered hit the spot. That said, nothing particularly wowed us enough to make it a must-return for the future. Still, a solid option if you're in the area and after a relaxed, casual breakfast.

We dipped from the city, cruisin’ outta the grind, Passed three hills, then the fourth blew our mind. Stumbled on a café — yo, it felt like fate, Boho-chic heaven behind that gate. Cozy fire flickers, stylish and clean, This spot drippin’ in beige, white and cream. No neon here, so leave the flash, It’s muted tones and quiet class. The food? Straight art, chef’s got skill, Every bite hits deep, it’s a savory thrill. The menu’s lit, worth the ride no doubt, Turn the GPS on, you’re missin’ out. Décor’s a dream, vibes on ten, Feel like you’re brunchin’ with style and Zen. And the staff? Polite, on point, no mess — Mum would smile, say, “Now that’s finesse!” So yeah, we’ll be back, no maybe, no might — Fourth Hill’s the mood, the feel, the light. Next time we roll, we’re bringin’ the crew, ’Cause spots like this? Man, they far and few.

Had such a nice time here, beautiful setting, pleasant atmosphere, very clean and peaceful. Had the salmon bagel, very tasty. They added an extra egg for me free of charge, so considerate! Chai and coffee were really lovely, I think Jaida (?) made our coffees and they were amazing! Will definitely be returning here, cannot fault our experience here!

Was greeted 3 times by different staff members. They were very friendly. No specific coffee menu but they can pretty much make anything you ask for. I ordered a vanilla iced latte. The milk ice ratio was good but the coffee was very strong and there was no sweetness or vanilla flavor so I couldn't really recommend it. The fresh juices are great. Mediterranean bagel on the specials board was tasty and flavorful. Scrambled eggs on toast was good, sourdough a bit tough to cut through. Bacon tasty and cooked well. Fried Mushrooms delicious. Avocado could use seasoning. Would not recommend sitting outside as we were accosted by 2 wasps and had to vacate inside also its quite cold because you're in the shade of the trees. All and all a nice place for brunch or brekkie.

Just across from where we were staying, this café caught my eye, so we popped in for brekkie — and I’m glad we did. The warm, cosy atmosphere, complete with a crackling fireplace, made it the perfect spot to start a cold weekend morning. It’s dog-friendly too, which adds to the welcoming vibe. We ordered the pancakes with hot chocolate and a zucchini & parmesan soup — both were delicious, with the soup being especially flavourful and comforting. The staff were genuinely friendly, and service was quick without feeling rushed. A lovely little find worth revisiting.

Laratinga Wetlands, located near Mount Barker, offers a peaceful retreat with its walking and biking trails, boardwalks, and picnic areas. The wetlands are home to a variety of native vegetation and waterbirds, making it an ideal spot for bird-watching and photography. Amazing place. Serene and calm waters. Good for a nice walk during the day. Lots of bird watching. Wear comfortable shoes and pack a picnic lunch for after the walk. Amenities such as toilets are maintained well too.

Laratinga Wetlands offer a very easy walk, ride or run. If you like watching or photographing birds, this is a great place too. You can comfortably stroll around the Wetlands in a hour or spend more time if you wish.

How amazing are these wetlands 👏👍 It is so conveniently located on the outskirts of Mt Barker with multiple access points. There are numerous walking trails that are pram friendly. Whether walking, cycling, or just relaxing on one of the benches by the water, you are guaranteed to come away feeling refreshed and excited by what you have observed. I entered via the Bald Hills Road carpark and was pleasantly surprised to see so much water around. Obviously, Mt Barker has been lucky to receive a lot of rain these past few weeks. Thanks to the high water levels, this 16-hectare land is teeming with birdlife - a true bird-lovers paradise. I spotted about 40 Grebes just in the one pond 😍. I was sorry I didn't have my camera with me but will certainly be back soon with it. Of course there are many other animal species that call this place home. There are BBQ areas and picnic tables as well as toilets. Also, bird-watching hides and Bee hotels have been setup. Maps can be downloaded from the Mountbarker.sa.gov.au website. The trails in the wetlands link up to the Linear Trail - an award winning 7 km shared walkway that follows the creek to Keith Stephenson Park. The wetlands are looked after by Council and volunteers. I believe they also run guided group tours.

This is such a beautiful gem we only discovered today! Truly amazing wise and ancient trees, an abundance of bird life, family friendly bush walking and easy access parking with bbq areas, toilets, pristine air! Highly recommended for any nature lovers, incredible to think this is a man-made eco system!

A beautiful, tranquil setting, early on a slightly misty morning. Perfect for a meandering walk through the picturesque wetlands with the clear water trickling from one pond to the next. Numerous water birds, as well as smaller wrens and honeyeaters.
Andrew D — Google review
Amazing scenery and lots of local wildlife to enjoy. There also public toilets, water fountain and public BBQs.
Joey W — Google review
There are toilets, undercover seating and BBQs. There are grassy areas perfect for a picnic. There are wide pram friendly walking tracks around the wetlands and benches dotted throughout for rest stops. It's a great place to take the kids for ride of their scooter or bike or dogs for a walk. There are lots of birds and is a great pot for birdwatching. My boys saw lots of birds despite not always being the quietest.

Friendly and efficient service! Awesome coffee! Tried the scones with strawberry jam and cream they were delicious! They give you plenty of jam and cream which is great. Also tried the chocolate brownie with a chocolate dipping sauce - wow!! This was so beautiful.

The flourless chocolate cake was dense and chocolatey, and went really well with a perfectly made cup of cappuccino. I also tried my friends’ milk hot chocolate, dark hot chocolate and chocolate mocha, which were all delightful as well! Would definitely recommend.

Hahndorf Mini Golf

Miniature golf course
Hahndorf Mini Golf is a hidden gem located behind the bustling main street of Hahndorf, offering a fun and challenging 18-hole course for only $6 per round. After indulging in traditional German treats like sauerkraut, jagerschitzel, and pretzels, visitors can unwind at this mini golf oasis. The course features interesting obstacles set in a beautiful garden, providing an enjoyable experience for all ages.
This is such a charming little minigolf experience. It's a bit run down and clearly needs some maintenance, but considering the price and honour system (just pay wave at the desk and grab a ball/club), if no one is at the desk. It's such great value! It can get pretty busy, but is actually worth the money and doesn't feel like a tourist trap like the rest of the town.
Kaz B — Google review
Ok it’s a bit sad and shabby but strangely enough our group of 4 adults over 60years had a blast. It’s on a honour system so bring $9 cash per adult or there’s a family rate. Difficulty rates varied but some had missing parts on the green that made it even more challenging. Release your inner child and laugh through it. Lots of screaming on holes in one!
Denise K — Google review
$9 pp but it’s always a good choice for everyone, especially for kids. They will enjoy the fresh air and the golf in here as well. Strongly recommend!
Edward N — Google review
18-hole mini-golf spot. Most holes are not too difficult, but they have some very challenging holes as well. Great spot for a group outing or a date. The establishment was self-service when we visited it, which actually made for a more enjoyable and private experience
Bruce T — Google review
Wasn’t sure what to expect, but actually what we found was a very good little mini golf course. As a bank holiday in the school holidays (Australia day), it was a little manned booth to pay but they also have an honest box scheme for other days. The course is not brand new, but it’s not in bad shape. The course is interesting enough, with enough challenge to make it interesting, without being impossible.
Nigel D — Google review
Nice little place for a bit of putt putt. I like taking the kids here in the school holidays. They really enjoy it. Fairly cheap. But it can be busy in school holidays. Easy to park in the main street, go for a walk, bit of golf before finding somewhere for lunch and a little shopping. Makes for a nice relaxed day out.

Excellent value for a family of 4 and heaps fun for little and big kids alike! The staff were friendly and 18 hole course is situated off the main street (close to the IGA end)

Such a novelty, a must stop by when stroll along Hahndorf. A little quaint shop but filled with lots of sweets goods, not just imports but locally made fudge and sweets. The staff are always so lovely and friendly every single time. It’s hard to resist and purchases are always a must.

The stupidity of this business blows my mind. The price hikes are totally unnecessary and will continue to fuel your losses. Every time I visit this shop, it’s super quiet and that’s on weekends too. You’re not selling anything exceptional, just candy. A rip off plain and simple.

The park and gardens looked nicely maintained. There's a few BBQs the public can use. Some seating and undercover areas around the park, some play equipment for the kids. Had a nice feel to it and looked very tidy.

Great place, I happened upon here on a Sunday afternoon lovely place to spend time at, sit and relax. They had live music playing out the back in the wine garden. Great menu with meals, tapas and snack options. Being a wine bar, plenty of drinks to choose from.

Lovely spot to nurse a drink by the fireplace. Lots of history, friendly staff, and a very affordable menu given the atmosphere of the place!

Shiny and showy display of medals, trophies and collections near the entrance is followed by less formal, more relaxed display past the bar, an old school building equipped as cooperage, barrels and hand tools. I remember using the copper hand pump sprayer backpack a couple of times growing up. We just missed out on food arriving late Sunday afternoon, might try next time.

This is a very well adorned winery/restaurant. The fit out is one of the best i have seen. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly but unfortunately the place lacked atmosphere, depth of menu and didn't cater for children's food. The pizza nice but lacked a lot of flavour the cheeseboard was tasty as. I give Wolf Blast 4/5 stars as the staff and venue our outstanding. The items I have critiqued our easily fixable.

Indian restaurant
The Mustard Seed Restaurant is a spacious stone cottage with an outdoor dining terrace where they serve tasty Indian and pan-Asian cuisine. It is a popular spot for groups, as it can accommodate up to 16 people. The weather was excellent on Mother's Day, allowing diners to enjoy their meal outside on the vibrant autumn afternoon in Hahndorf. The restaurant offers delicious dishes, including halal options for those who prefer chicken and beef.
What a delightful experience. On a fancy street full of restaurants , this one is unique. Jess the lady who hosted was a pleasure to talk to and she also ensured that we have the right order depending upon my parents appetite. It is the sincerity and honesty that I need to applaud as she wasn’t getting us to order more but effectively. The ambience of the restaurant is just right. We ordered a mini banquet for 2 as my parents wouldn’t eat a lot. The navratna korma and the rice was not only delicious but the quantity was also great. I ordered a pina colada for them again superb. Apart from that ordered chicken tikka which was presented fab and again the quantity was commendable. Cheese naan and Malai kofta was a feather in the cap. The malai kofta which is usually lighter yellow was a different brownish curry prep but the flavour was just so enchanting that I loved it. I ordered my favourite Arancini balls n my, just perfectly melted and could feel each bite. The service was fast and when met with a smile, it just becomes the best. Loved being here and definitely would come back. Thanks Jess, you were wonderful. Kudos to the chef and other staff as everyone made us comfortable. Feedback if any is the size of plate is quite small ( not food quantity) but literally the plate size.

For appetizers: 😋Samosas- crispy and packed with great flavor. If you like spice, go for the 🌶️Fire Ball🌶️. It’s hot but so tasty, especially with the spicy sauce. For the main dish: The Tandoori lamb cutlets are amazing. The meat is tender and the naan with the sauce goes really well with it.😋😋 For dessert: Try the 🌟Pistachio Kulfi. It’s rich, creamy, and full of pistachio flavor.

Wonderful service, everyone was amazing Family of 5 we got the “Chefs Choice Feed Me for $60 a head” was amazing value for all the food we got! The food tasted amazing 10/10 and the chef did such an excellent job. I recommend to everyone to come here

The restaurant looks amazing after the renovation! The food was full of flavour, the vibe was super cosy, and the service was so friendly. Ended the night with their pistachio kulfi, absolutely perfect!

Went with a group of 16 on the Mother's Day. Luckily, the weather was superb and so could dine outdoors on the colourful autumn afternoon at Hahndorf. All dishes were delicious. Chicken and beef items served here are halal. Good customer service. Apart from the fact that the restaurant does not have a dedicated parking area, we couldn't find anything negative. Will certainly visit again.
Tanzim C — Google review
Good Indian restaurant in a street of various restaurants. The staff was courteous to suggest a meaningful choice of food. The place is near and there is a beautiful flower garden in the front of the restaurant. There are good north indian good options. It's a bit pricey but comparable to all the other restaurants in the street. The place has a toilet. It might be harder to find parking as it's in the Main Street of Hahndorf.
Shishir J — Google review
Arrived on Saturday evening of a long weekend, we said we would sit outside and the waitress said she would bring cutlery and menus. We waited for 20 minutes and then my husband had to walk in and request menus. It took a further 15 minutes for her to come back, take our drinks order and then on return eventually took our food order. My entree came out first followed by my main while my husband was sitting there waiting for his entree there was only two other tables being served so in my opinion service was extremely lacking. Food was tasty but overall not a great experience if I’m honest. Not likely to go back.

Indian Express offers an authentic Indian dining experience in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its delicious and flavorful dishes, including samosas, chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, fish curry, and tandoori prawns. The serving sizes are perfect and the cheesy garlic naan is highly recommended. With reasonable prices and friendly staff, it's a great place to enjoy beautiful food in a scenic location.
Today, we had lunch at this place, and given the ongoing festivals, we needed food without onion and garlic. The staff was kind enough to accommodate our request and prepare special dishes for us, which we truly appreciated. The food was delicious, the bread was excellent, and the overall experience was great. The service was also commendable—the server was attentive and checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. This was our second time dining here, and once again, it was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this place!

Absolutely loved the food here! Everything we ordered was super delicious and full of authentic Indian flavors. The Aloo Tikki Chaat was perfectly spiced and had just the right balance of tanginess and crunch. The Pav Bhaji was rich, buttery, and incredibly satisfying — just like the street-style version you’d get in Mumbai. And the Veg Biryani was aromatic, flavorful, and loaded with vegetables — a perfect comfort meal. The presentation was neat, the portion sizes were generous, and the staff was friendly too. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving real Indian food. Will definitely be coming back!

I was there with my family on a pretty quiet day, the staff were friendly and the service was pretty good however, the food was bland. We ordered few butter naans and a kadhai paneer. Naan was alright but the later was disappointing. We ordered it medium spicy only because we had a child, but it was flavourless. No seasoning and the worst part was it was covered with burnt onions. Sorry guys, but I hope you take it constructively and improve it next time around.

We were a bit unsure at first because it was quiet when we arrived, but we’re so glad we decided to stay! The main courses were absolutely delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive the whole time. I’m really happy with both the food and the service—Indian Express is definitely worth a visit!

One of the worst Indian restaurants we have been to in terms of food and customer service. They literally serve us fried rice with chicken tandoori pieces as biryani 😂 . I don’t think chef might have tried authentic biryani’s himself . The chaat we ordered was mashed potatoes with tamarind sauce and tomatoes ! 😏 the chef should really learn from other Indian restaurants in adelaide who serve high quality aunthentic Indian food ex Raj on Taj , chatkaaz . No wonders your review is so low because you guys argue with customers to defence your unprofessional cooking styles . PS : mango lassi and chai was good , price is very affordable. But there is a big area required for improvement.

Amazing snacks! We ordered several entrees and were amazed how delicious they were. Favourites were Samosa Chaat, Dahi Puri and Tandoori prawns! I highly recommend dining here in your next visit to Hahndord for snacks or lunch. Prices were reasonable for entrees $9-13 and service size was good. Staff was very nice and place was cozy inside.

Absolutely incredible. Our curries were packed with flavour (and from real, whole spices) i could taste the smoky tandoor flavour, mango chicken was sweet and packed with spices, the lassis are delicious and not overly sweet, and the naan bread.... simply the best. Thank you guys for a delicious dinner, we will be ordering again soon!

The Cafe 1839 is a charming coffee shop situated in the heart of Hahndorf, conveniently located along Main Street next to Alec Johnston Park. This cozy spot offers a delightful selection of local produce and serves up fresh, healthy modern Australian cuisine for breakfast and lunch. The cafe is housed in a historical German house dating back to the 1850s, adding to its unique appeal.
This was hands down one of the best breakfasts we have had this year. I had the hush stack breakfast burger (highly recommended), and my wife had the Brekky Bruschetta with avo ( highly recommend), and the coffee was great, too. If you are looking for fair pricing and super high-quality meals that are well presented and fresh, this is the place.

Great food and very friendly service. The man who was serving us was so kind and attentive. It seemed like on a weekday he was possibly there on his own. We even observed him helping a couple of young mothers get a few sips of their coffees down by amusing their toddlers for a few moments in between his tasks which was so heartwarming! The food was awesome. I'm a chilli lover so would have been even better if the fritters came with an option for some chilli jam but they were so delicious!!

We made this our local for the 4 days we spent in Hahndorf (our motel is right next door). I loved how it wasnt modelled on the whole German theme. The lattes were super delicious! The image attached shows one of the breakfast we had - my partner said the double brekky burger on Turkish bread was the best he has ever had (he is a connoisseur of B&E sandwiches/rolls 🤭). The sauce was a combination of bbq and tomato relish & the eggs were perfectly cooked 🍳 My brekky brushetta was perfectly balanced with the red onion, fresh radishes and herbs. I added chorizo, which was beautifully fried and the tasitest I've had in a long time. The additional scrambled eggs were deliciously silky. Highly recommend the two as well as the corn fritter stack 🤤 - the portions are so generous 😍 you leave full till dinner. The owner and staff are really friendly, maintain a clean space are attentive and accommodating to customer needs. Prices are more than reasonable 👌🏽👌🏽

We were enticed in on a chilly day by the specials menu out front advertising $15 lunches which seemed like good value. Hubby ordered a creamy pasta dish and myself the sausage with mash and red cabbage. The pasta was flavourful and tasty, penne obviously dried and not freshly made but still enjoyable. The sausage dish also had good flavour and I enjoyed it. Both dishes were very small in size and although we are small eaters we both left hungry so I would recommend the business takes notice of feedback. Though a dish is a "special" it shouldn't mean you reduce the portions size so much that it becomes stingy. Service was good, staff friendly and restaurant cosy.

5 out of 5 stars! Great food and true spirit of hospitality! We went there on a public holiday, the staff are very friendly and efficient to arrange a table for us in the extra busy time. Food is great, especially the sausages being so tasty (I don't normally eat pork but I love the sausages), schnitzel is crunchy and crispy, my wife loves their pickle and hot chocolate. Would definitely go back in our next visit!

Our visit was not the first time we had visited the German Spoon. Again, we were not disappointed. The menu offered a range of 'traditional' German food. Everyone should find something to their taste. We sat out on the verandah. It was a delightful spring day and so it was an appropriate choice. We selected the chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and the seniors special lunch of German sausage and mashed potato. Each meal was generous, hot and tasty. Service was great. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Had a fantastic experience at German Spoon in Hahndorf! 👌😍 From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome by the owner himself, which instantly made us feel at home. I The food was delicious, full of authentic German flavours, and the beers were honestly some of the best we've had. The ambience was cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. Highly recommend this spot if you're visiting Hahndorf – it’s a must-try! 🍽🍺🇩🇪 Couldnt take enough pictures of other dishes as I craving for them ❣️

Not too bad. The schnitzel and the wurst were good. The waiter was friendly. The daily lunch offers are good deals if you want an affordable meal around. But the portions are smaller than the standard dishes.
