Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, located about 40 minutes north of Sydney, is a haven for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. With over 800 Aboriginal sites including rock art and engravings, the park offers a deep dive into indigenous culture. Visitors can explore walking tracks through bushland, keeping an eye out for native wildlife like kangaroos and wallabies. The park also features picturesque swimming holes such as The Duck Holes and Apple Tree Bay.
With a $12 per car entry fee, per day, giving you parking at all spots, this should be on your list for spots to see in Sydney. The lookout at the end is well set up for a slow wander and lots of pictures. It has lots of options for hiking at different skill levels. One picnic stop has lots of options for tables and gas BBQs available. The picnic stop also has reasonable toilet facilities, including a working soap dispenser. Lots of brush turkeys and even a Goana. Just remember to keep your distance as their claws will make mince meat of you if you get too close.
Erin M — Google review
There are endless activities to enjoy in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Swim, hike, ride, drive, learn and immerse yourself in a beautifully preserved slice of the bush. Easily accessed and all the rangers are very kind. It’s important to treat the park with respect and always take all rubbish out with you.
Hugh R — Google review
A rocky but easy hike down to this beautiful spot, a little steep in places. Although we didn't end up at the part we thought we would, it was great to cool down with a dip and then relax in the sun while being visited by the curious bush turkeys.

Hard Yakka if you want it! A great location, shaded and sunny, river running by. Can enjoy many paths, and varied terrain, from flat fire trails to steep steps and even some scrambling.

An absolute marvel very close to Sydney and there is water for boating and fishing, trails for hikers, picnic and barbecue areas for families, playground for kids and roads for motor biking and cycling. You can spend the whole day here admiring what nature has to offer. Very happy place. Must visit.

Winnererremy Bay

4.6
(394)
Park
Winnererremy Bay, located in Rowland Reserve, Bayview, is a picturesque off-lead dog park that offers a unique experience for both dogs and their owners. It features a beach area where dogs can roam freely and even enjoy services like a mobile dog wash and coffee cart on weekends. The park itself is spacious with amenities such as a junior bike path, playgrounds, covered BBQ stations, and a cafe with panoramic views of Pittwater.
Perfect place to have a BBQ in the shade, the park is full of trees and also some scattered BBQ and a great playground for kids. The cherry on top is the beach that’s perfect to try the paddle board.
Ricardo R — Google review
Lovely park. A section for big kids and then a little baby area. It’s a lovely park right by the water with a bike track. It’s paid parking in the parking lot but free on the street. Lovely little cafe to get good coffee. Bigger park attached with a basketball court. My 8 year old loved it!
Nicolle K — Google review
Great park on northern beaches. Heaps of room to run and kick about. Playground with café. Picnic benches and barbeques. Shade and sun. And access to the bay if that's your thing. Free parking for NB residents (with parking sticker), otherwise there's usually parking out on the street.
Kris M — Google review
Beautiful park with some lovely walks along the water. I went for the Autumn market which had a great range of market stalls, food & live music. There are public toilets, a cafe & large kids playground. Would be great for a kayak or paddle board & picnic. There were picnic tables & BBQ areas.
Nicole W — Google review
Fabulous place. Enclosed playground, great dog park nearby and coffee shop.
Angelita Z — Google review
Great place for the family with a fully featured play area, nice shady areas and plenty of open space. A nice cafe is right there with seating if required. My grandkids were able to cool off in the water while their parents did a bit of kayaking and paddle boarding, there is limited off street parking. A real fun place for all.
Paul ( — Google review
This is a great place to spend a few lazy hours with the kids, go for a walk with the dog or just sit back and read a book in the sun. The walking track extends along the waterfront, circles the park and is an easy level walk. The down side is that the bar-b-cue facilities are limited and so youhave to get in early. The park is very popular and parking was st a premium. The other problem with the parking was that the ticket machine had the dreaded "network error" and the connection timed out every time I tried to use it. The network error message was accompanied by a direction to pay by coins. I did not have $40 in coins to the fee. Do they think anyone would?
Peter J — Google review
Great park! Great cafe! Near the water ( not surf ), pretty safe for kids. Awesome bike, skateboard track that goes around the large grass and BBQ area. Has some tables near the BBQs.

McCarrs Creek Reserve

4.6
(358)
Park
McCarrs Creek Reserve is a serene picnic spot where the creek meets Pittwater. It offers shaded tables, parking, and toilet facilities. While the BBQ facilities are basic, it's a great place to relax for a few hours and enjoy the calm waters and peaceful atmosphere. The area is perfect for picnics, reading a book, or simply taking in the natural surroundings. Although not ideal for swimming due to oysters, it's great for kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.
Simple and quite place to spend some quality family time. We had an amazing time here. So beautiful and relaxing with some fishing. Our kids really enjoyed their time here. Highly recommended!
Robert N — Google review
This is a hidden gem in Ku-ring-gai National Park, beautiful spot with water front, fishing, small trails, ample of parking. public toilets. Boat hire option and very calm environment with a feeling of rain forest. Must visit if you are looking for some quiet time. Only negative, that we cannot buy food here but Maccars Creek is very nearby and lot of options for food.
Ashish A — Google review
Quite place, visited there with friends, nice view. Picnic area, washrooms avaliable. Dog friendly. #visitaustraliaash #nature #picnic

Quiet, cicadas, you and nature. A place for family or a solo wanderer . Grab a chair, a book and enjoy the breeze and the shadows of the eucalyptus trees. This is a hidden spot worth visiting and protecting. Toilet facilities. Awesome for kayaking and SUP, not so much for swimming unless you protect your feet from oysters.
Wander G — Google review
What a surprise when we stopped there. We were not expecting to find such an amazing place. One of the most peaceful place I have been around Sydney. The water is calm. Atmosphere is relax. People having barbecues, playing with dogs.... it was almost sunset and the lights were so good. We could admire the splendid houses that are along the River. Perfect spot for a picnic or just read a book.
Marie B — Google review
Beautiful place to hang out by yourself or with family/families. Good parking area...however have to come bit early to hold of it easily...

Best place to be in hot days as lots of shady spots. Calm water best for kids’ fishing and swimming and kayaking. Wood fire BBQ available on site.

The Basin campground

Campground
National park
The Basin campground, situated in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, is a highly sought-after beach camping destination near Sydney. Just a short 50-minute drive from the city, it boasts stunning natural scenery and picturesque views of Pittwater. The area offers diverse activities for all ages, including access to a sheltered beach and an island lagoon. The calm and protected waters of the lagoon-shaped bay make it perfect for swimming, fishing, and paddle boarding.
Wonderful campsite with clean toilet and shower facilities. Fresh Lavazza coffee vending machine (very nice), ice creams, cold drinks and ice. Very spacious grounds with no allocated areas. Wonderful walking tracks, lots of good fishing spots for kids. Very safe unsupervised swimming areas for kid. Good and clean bbq facilities. A wonderful spot for a 7 day camping trip. Highly recommend.
Oliver R — Google review
Stunning location. But a bit hustle to get there. First the drop your gears at the bay find parking spot for your car. And then catch the bus back to the bay. Then, get to ferry to the basin. Pretty busy for the camping but yea it's your choice. Ps should be a restaurant or a cafe there would be nicer
Axmz P — Google review
The Basin is a wonderful spot for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature while still having access to all the essential comforts. The campsite is set right by the water, offering beautiful views and plenty of opportunities to relax or explore. One of the highlights is the local wildlife. Wallabies are everywhere, and if you head down to the shore, you might even spot stingrays. The campground is well-equipped with everything you need: clean toilets, BBQ facilities, firepits, and plenty of open space. It feels safe, quiet, and welcoming. Perfect for families, groups, or even solo campers. The rangers are extremely friendly and always available if you need assistance, even in an emergency.
Tharinda P — Google review
We spent 2 nights camping at the basin. It was amazing. There is lagoon and beach to swim in. Free electric bbqs around to cook your food. Showers and toilets are clean. The Rangers onsite were very friendly and assisted us. It does get quite busy as it is a popular spot. The ferry over was easy from palm beach. Ice and bait are sold twice a day. There a few vending machines available that have coffee, water, icecream, snacks.
Lee — Google review
The most idyllic campground! This little piece of paradise is a short 20 min ferry from Palm Beach. Excellent facilities.. including fire pits, a secluded swim spot and Magnum stocked vending machines! Enjoy the local residents, including wallabies, goana, bush turkeys and a myriad of birds as they roam the site. Already planning our next stay!

Lookouts
West Head Lookout offers stunning coastal views and a chance to explore Aboriginal rock art and carvings. From this elevated vantage point in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park, visitors can see as far as the Central Coast on clear days, including the Barrenjoey headland and its charming lighthouse. Birdwatchers may spot white-bellied sea eagles hunting over Pittwater. The nearby Aboriginal Heritage Walk leads to Red Hands Cave, showcasing ancient Indigenous artworks.
Went for a ride to West Head the other day—what a spot. Twisty roads with stunning views all the way, especially near the lookout. The road’s a bit narrow in places, so take it easy and enjoy the scenery. Definitely worth the ride.
Mauricio H — Google review
Great lookout point with plenty of history as well. Overlooks the Hawkesbury river and Pacific and Palm Beach (the setting for Home & Away). You can venture down the army path if you fancy a bit of a challenge or look for soaring sea eagles or a Wompoo Fruit Dove in the trees. Some great plants in the gardens as well. So, something for everyone then.....
Martin C — Google review
Absolutely spectacular views from West Head Lookout! A must-see spot in Sydney. The panoramic vista over Pittwater, Broken Bay, Barrenjoey Headland and Lion Island is simply breathtaking. The lookout area itself is well-maintained with clear signage and benches to sit and just soak in the serenity. It truly feels like an escape from the city hustle. Make sure you allow time to explore the nearby walks, like the short path to the lookout from the car park, or the longer trails like the Resolute Loop, which leads to secluded beaches. Remember to bring $12 cash or card for the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park entry fee. Go on a clear day for the best photos, and if you can manage sunset, the colours are truly magical! Highly recommend this for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a stunning day trip.

Westhead Lookout, located in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, offers one of the most stunning panoramic views in the Sydney region. From the top, visitors are treated to breathtaking vistas of Pittwater, Broken Bay, and Barrenjoey Headland, all framed by untouched bushland and sparkling blue waters. The drive up is scenic, and the lookout itself is peaceful and well-maintained, with informative signs and plenty of space to relax or take photos. It's an ideal spot for a quiet picnic, short walk, or simply to take in the natural beauty of the area. A must-visit for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Bert's Bar and Brasserie is a high-end seafood restaurant located in Newport, just a short drive from Sydney's CBD.
Came here with my partner on Saturday to celebrate our anniversary. Staff were all very nice and considerate, and the food was delicious! We also received a very adorable and lovely card from the staff! Would definitely come back.

My husband & I drove 1.5 hrs for lunch today and I must say, it’s worth the drive here. The place was aesthetically pleasing. So pretty and chic. The staff were welcoming with smile & very polite. They gave us table by the window overlooking the water which we really appreciated. Food was good. We shared the Bucatini Vongole Pasta as entree. My husband really liked it. We had their special Steak Frites as mains and Snake Beans as side. Steaks were tender, fries were crispy and snake beans were crunchy. We also ordered Criollo Dark Chocolate Tart as dessert. It was divine. Glad we decided to came here.

It is located in New port, this is fancy restaurant for celebrating special occasions. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, oysters are so delicious and fresh pasta is amazing. Some special wine selection you will find on wine list.
Isabelle L — Google review
This was a slightly harder 5/5 from me. We loved the food and the atmosphere, and the young guy that was serving us (grandparents were jewellers) was great! Good conversation and friendly service. The only thing I’d say is that it’s probably a little overpriced. You definitely pay for the view and location. For that same amount of money, you could probably get better in other parts of Sydney. That said, still a 5/5 because it really was good. I’d still recommend.
Andrew T — Google review
Excellent customer service, and amazing atmosphere. Staffs were super attentive, polite and professional. The atmosphere was 10/10 with nice view and decoration. But food was not as good as what I expected. It was not bad, but it still needs improvement to be worth the price and the reputation.
Junie H — Google review
Casual, yet elegant. Food is exceptionally fresh with a small well considered menu that also offer daily specials. One for seafood and steak lovers- with 2-3 excellent vegetarian options, and some terrific pasta. Best of all- everything can be shared. Staff are fun, engaging and look after you well.
John T — Google review
We celebrated our engagement at Bert’s and it was absolutely perfect. A huge thanks to our incredible host, Lani, who made the night feel so special — from recommending standout dishes (the tuna tartare is a must!) to finishing with a handwritten card from the team. The service, the atmosphere, the attention to detail — everything was spot on. Thank you, Lani and the Bert’s team, for an unforgettable night. We’ll be back!

Overall rating: 4.75 stars, rounded up to 5. One of the best places in Sydney for a meal. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The only reason for not considering it a full 5-star is that it is quite far from the city but the prices are as high as what they would have been if this place was in the city. That being said, Bert’s is still definitely worth a visit even if it takes a while to trek up to Newport.

We’ve had a few lovely stops at the Marina cafe ! My partner (French & fussy when it comes to coffee) lovedddd his coffee & on another occasion, I had a delicious crab omelette with papaya salad. It is SO refreshing to have a menu that isn’t the same as every other cafe !!! Plenty of space for our pram when we’ve taken our son, as well as baby change facilities (huge bonus). Would absolutely recommend !

Food was delicious service outstanding BUT over charged on wine different from what was on menu. Tart ordered came (without asking) a scoop of ice cream at an EXTRA $5.50! Little extra charges every where the accompanying salad with fish also extra charged yet menu stated it can with one of three options. Disappointed

This café has a lot going for it – a location right on the water (and some tables actually out on the wharf), free and plentiful parking right out front (unlike the pricey and overrun car parks down at Church Point), great staff, and wonderful food. We were delighted at just how good the dishes here were – the Asian-style salads and whole fish in particular were superb. Food was brought out fast, and the staff were superb dealing with a range of dietary requirements.

Dunes Palm Beach is a popular spot known for its relaxed atmosphere and beach views. Visitors praise the perfectly cooked lamb mains and fish & chips, while also enjoying the salt bush calamari.
We had a fantastic experience at Dunes Restaurant! From the moment we booked over the phone, everything was smooth and pleasant. Grace, who served us today, delivered five-star quality customer service. She was attentive, friendly, and kept checking on us to ensure we had everything we needed. The meals were generous in portion and absolutely delicious. We are lucky to try their new menu today. It was definitely worth the drive to have lunch here. Highly recommend!

The Dunes was a truly wonderful discovery. We were just wandering by and thought we’d check it out (somewhat reassured by the high rating on Google.. something we were delighted to find was well deserved). The food is outstanding.. and the service is even better! (With a special shout out to Mason). I can highly recommend the Kingfish Sashimi, which was as good as any I have ever had.. and the Fish and Chips was also a show stopper! I cannot recommend the Dunes highly enough if you are looking for a place to eat in Palm Beach/the Northern Beaches

Absolutely phenomenal. Flawless. Food was incredible, service was just as good too. Not cheap but worth every cent. Even the fries were all hand cut and without a doubt the best fries I'd ever had. Oyster tasting plate is a must as well. Kids meals were just as good too. Will definitely be back again!

We recently had our wedding reception at Dunes Palm Beach, it is was honestly everything we had hoped for. Steffi, Tilly and the service team were all so helpful, thorough and super efficient with communicating and planning (including my many last minute changes). They made the process so seamless for us and the vendors. There food + drinks were 10/10 and very filling. They have also made the atmosphere so romantic, warm yet fun. I recently had the pleasure of photographing Mia & Riley’s wedding at Dunes and honestly, what a place!! If you’re looking for laid back, coastal vibes that are elevated, this is the venue for you. The team were so attentive and it was so fun to be able to get portraits around the venue but also down on the beach. The couple opted for their ceremony at a local spot on the water followed by their reception here & it was just a fab day. I can’t wait to be back here again soon. Charlotte Fraser photography

Decided to go for a drive to Palm Beach and originally wanted to have brunch at Dunes. Unfortunately it was packed so we decided to have a light lunch at Dunes kiosk. Service was great and attentive and kiosk was nice and clean. Got the fish and chips and the grilled chicken burger. The fish was nice and flakey and the batter on the fish was nice and crispy, however it had a weird aftertaste to it (like an old oil kinda taste), however I know that it wasnt… just a weird taste. The chicken burger was nice enough and did the job. Chips were fantasic, scenery was nice and outdoor seating was plentiful. Heaps of paid parking right infront, and yes, I saw parking inspectors so you definitely have to pay. Was down the road from Barrenjoey lighthouse.

The menu features an array of homemade dishes crafted with care, ensuring every bite feels like a warm hug from home.
A cozy ambiance with delicious comfort food and reasonable price around Palm beach. Their carrot cake is a standout, moist and perfectly spiced that isn’t overly sweet—just the way it should be. The pumpkin pie is equally impressive. For savory options, their burger delivers on all fronts, with a juicy patty, fresh toppings, and a bun that’s just the right amount of soft and sturdy. And if you’re looking for something plant-based, the falafel wraps are a delight. The falafel is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and paired with a refreshing sauce that elevates the dish. Overall, this place nails both sweet and savory offerings.

I stopped here for lunch today. A great range of sandwiches (freshly made) on the menu. Coffee was great and sandwich was served in generous portions (thick fresh bread & plenty of filling). I had the meatloaf sandwich today. This cafe closes around 2pm which is a shame if you’re after a fairly late lunch. Good spot to sit on the outside tables and watch the Northern Beaches world go by. Good options for close curbside parking for motorcycles too.

Good portion size on everything ordered. Berry Muffin was huge. Best OJ $13 for a full milkshake size drink. Smashed avocado, breakfast wrap and corn fritters were yum. Closest Cafe to Palm Beach Ferry.

Overcharged on my bill by an older woman, who appeared to be in charge. (Luckily I asked for a receipt as proof of payment, although she found it an inconvenience). No reason given and no apology! My overcharge money was dropped on the counter as she walked away. Not good service! Long wait for takeaway burgers. Other people after us were receiving their orders before us. I asked if our order would come soon as we didn't want to miss the ferry. I was then told they would begin cooking it. Other staff were very helpful. Fortunately our food was very tasty.

I had a great coffee at Pronto, just a little pricey at $5.50 for a small coppa!

Beautiful home made banana bread and baked goods. Phenomenal coffee too. Such a nice spot to stop before getting the ferry, if you’ve got some time to spare! The service is also really lovely

Stacie makes great food and excellent coffee and has been here for over 30 years looking after locals and travellers to Palm Beach so if you are heading up the northern beaches put Pronto on your must stop list and you will feel part of the local Palmy scene

Wonderful home cooked lunch at this lovely little Cafe. Friendly prompt service & just a few minutes walk from the ferry. Afterwards we walked up the stepped pathway that leads to Ocean Beach almost opposite this little cafe. Will definitely be back!

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Resolute Beach. Not quite as popular as Palm Beach, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Barrenjoey Lighthouse, a historic sandstone structure built in 1881, is located at Sydney's northernmost point on Barrenjoey Headland in Palm Beach. The lighthouse offers weekly tours and provides stunning panoramic views of Palm Beach, Pittwater, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Broken Bay, and the Central Coast. The Barrenjoey Lighthouse Walk is a popular hiking trail that offers breathtaking vistas just an hour away from Sydney's CBD.
What a gorgeous headland! I've lived in Sydney all my life & I'd never been here. It was a beautiful day, so I decided to bring my son here to check it out. We did the ACCESS walk on the way up. Very steep & windy but beautiful views. The lighthouse is amazing! Apparently, you can go inside it on a tour only on Sundays. It's a great spot to look out for whales this time of year, too. We took the SMUGGLERS stairs to get down, which are also steep. It's not a long walk, but it's a good one. 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Experience at Barrenjoey Lighthouse Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach is an absolute must-visit if you're exploring Sydney's Northern Beaches. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the natural beauty of the area. The walk up to the lighthouse is both scenic and rewarding — we chose the Smugglers Track, which is a bit steep but offers breathtaking views all the way up. Once at the top, the 360-degree views are simply spectacular. On one side, you have the calm waters of Pittwater, and on the other, the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. It’s the kind of view that makes you pause and appreciate the moment. We visited on a clear day and could see for miles in every direction. The lighthouse itself is beautifully preserved and adds a historic charm to the entire experience. We were lucky enough to catch a guided tour and learned a lot about its history and the keepers who once lived there. Wildlife was abundant — we spotted several native birds and even a whale breaching in the distance! It felt like a true escape from the city, despite being only about an hour’s drive from Sydney. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Barrenjoey Lighthouse offers the perfect mix of nature, history, and incredible photo opportunities. Bring water, wear good walking shoes, and don’t forget your camera. We’ll definitely be back!

Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach is one of the most beautiful coastal lookouts in New South Wales. The walk to the lighthouse takes about 30–40 minutes and there are two paths: a steep track and a gentler slope. The climb is totally worth it because the view from the top is incredible—you can see both sides of the ocean and the famous Palm Beach peninsula stretching out below. The lighthouse itself has a classic sandstone design and gives a peaceful, historic atmosphere. Around the lookout, there are information boards about whales, and during migration season you might spot humpback or southern right whales. However, whale-watching can take a long time, so I highly recommend bringing some snacks, water and even a picnic mat to relax while waiting. What I love most about this place is the sense of space and nature. The sea breeze, the open horizon and the dramatic coastline make it feel like a perfect escape from the city. I have visited many lookouts in Sydney, but this is definitely one of the best. If you enjoy scenic walks, photography, picnics or whale watching, Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a must-visit. Just take your time, enjoy the view and don’t forget sunscreen!

Visited Palm Beach in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and it felt like a mini getaway without leaving the city. The view from Barrenjoey Lighthouse was breathtaking — sweeping ocean on one side and calm Pittwater on the other. The beach itself was clean and peaceful, with clear blue water and golden sand. There are nice cafés nearby for brunch or coffee after a walk. It’s the perfect place to escape the city rush, recharge, and take in some of the most stunning coastal scenery in New South Wales. Definitely one of my favorite spots around Sydney.
Masaki K — Google review
It is a steep walk up and on the way up I took the easier path, on the way down the steeper one - this worked well as the views are better over Palm Beach on the way down on the steeper path. However! Both paths are grade 3 so do your research people, its a bit steep. Truly worth it, maybe avoid the heat of the day. You will feel filled with dopamine good vibes that you achieved this simple walk 🤣 its glorious.

Today I traveled to Palm Beach by ferry from Ettalong Beach. It took less than half an hour to reach Palm Beach. Unfortunately, there was no sunlight, so the photos taken were not as clear as they could have been. Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a must-visit spot, as it offers a clear view of the area. However, it was worth the trip and I will definitely return to take photos again on a sunny day.

It was a marvellous experience. Brisk walk so don’t go if you’re injured or frail. Wonderful views, we saw dolphins in the bay from up there. Be sure to walk down slowly to listen to the ocean echo against the rock while walking down.

Barrenjoey House Palm Beach is a classy heritage restaurant and bar that also offers guest rooms on the top level. The restaurant, which dates back to 1923, serves modern Australian cuisine with a menu that reflects the flavors of early days. It's known for its seafood favorites and an impressive wine list. Located in Palm Beach, it's a great place for couples seeking a relaxing beach holiday or families looking for outdoor activities like hiking and water sports.
Got a lovely window seat with a beautiful view. We had the crab linguini, fish & chips, oysters and sourdough – the sourdough was super crispy and tasty! Food was fresh and well presented, though a bit on the salty side, and prices are a little high. Service was friendly and it’s still a great spot for a relaxing meal by the water.

Lovely place. Stayed 2 nights. Excellent service. Great restaurant. Nice DIY breakfast and beautiful shared space upstairs for overnight guests. We had a room at the front which was gorgeous although a little noisy overnight due to passing traffic. The is an Ev charger in the car park across the road which was handy to charge our EV. Lovely region to visit.
AndyBW — Google review
While the restaurant is set in a beautiful location and the staff are friendly, the service was nothing short of terrible. After our entrees, we waited over 40 minutes for our mains, which then arrived separately and cold. To be fair, the food itself was tasty — but that was the only redeeming feature. The rest of the evening was marred by a complete lack of attentiveness. We had to ask three times just to place our order, and when the bill finally arrived, we were overcharged by $65 on one item. For a venue that presents itself as a quality dining experience, this level of service is simply unacceptable. We won’t be rushing back
Kathryn G — Google review
The food at Barrenjoey was great, and the staff seemed generally nice, but the service was really poor. There was a noticeable level of bias that left us feeling overlooked. Another group was given colouring books for their kids, had their table fully prepared with cutlery, and were checked on several times while we had to ask for basic things like cutlery and never received a single check-in. It felt disorganised and dismissive, which really took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal.

On Sydney’s Northern Beaches, a quiet midweek ritual has emerged: the French-inspired tradition of steak frites. My recent visit to Barrenjoey House proved a revelation—particularly when set against my last experience there, some twelve months ago, which was nothing short of disastrous. This time, however, it was a 180-degree turnaround. The restaurant has clearly rethought its approach to both sourcing and preparation. The rump steak, once inedible, was now of excellent quality—close to gourmet. For that, the team deserves real congratulations. A few refinements, however, would elevate the dish further. Serving a solitary leaf of rocket alongside the steak might nod to the minimalist French aesthetic, but as a main course accompaniment it feels inadequate. The fries, too, were fair at best—slightly underdone, and with chips, it’s always better to err on the side of crispness rather than softness. As for the sauce, it was serviceable but uninspired. On a night devoted to championing the rump steak, a classic béarnaise would provide far more character and flourish. Yes, it is costly and technically demanding, but with most diners ordering the same plate, it seems an investment worth making. Barrenjoey House has rescued its signature dish from mediocrity and reintroduced it as a meal worth seeking out. With a little more boldness on the accompaniments, it could become a genuine local classic.

This is a nice place, but we didn’t have the best experience here. There was a very loud water feature outside our room running until 4am and another guest started banging on doors about 3am. The food was very good, but the table service wasn’t great. Great location. I hope others have a better experience.
Ken M — Google review
If I could explain my experience in one word, it would be the word 'lousy'. Great location, and the decor was great, so I won't give 1 star. However, even though the staff weren't rude, they seemed pretty inexperienced. Reason being they weren't attentive unless it's your birthday (had most of their staff singing happy birthday whilst the rest of the tables left unattended) and it took too long for anything to come to the table. Whether it be the entree, drinks, the main meal, or deserts. Just to put it persepctive. We decided what to eat in about 5-10mins, and it took us, from entree to desert, about 2 and a half hours to get through all that and ask for the cheque. This calculates at around an average wait time of 35 minutes per course. Mind you, we only order one entree. The table wasn't fully decked out with food. Only one piece of crab toast took that long. Pretty much, most of it was just waiting. Waiting to be served and waiting for the food to come. Eating took around 10 or so mins each course, and so did the drinks. No one explained the meals properly either. Tables weren't cleaned efficiently as you would expect when you're paying around $40 per dish. The odd thing about this is that when i woud walk into a cheap thai restaurant, they would straight away give you glasses and water. You come over here, pay three times the price and still have to get off the chair, find someone, get in their face (because they look away when you try get their attention) just to ask for a jug of water, which should be a normal expectation to have that provided once seated. A cheap Thai shop understands. How come a high-end restaurant is still trying to learn this? Also, the food selection could've been more ample. There's not much to choose from. Maybe 5 mains or so (at least it won't take too long to choose a meal). To top it off, it took them longer than usual to clean the table, and once they cleaned it, they still left dirty cutlery there until the time we asked for the cheque and left. All negativity aside, great venue when it comes to ambience and style. Location, absolutely fantastic. Staff...questionable and pretty much makes it not worth going. This place would probably not last too long if there was more competition in the area. Lucky for them, the venue has maybe 1 to 2 competitors in the area. Otherwise, I see a change of ownership for the place real soon. I hope management can really sharpen up this place. All it takes is properly trained staff and a slightly bigger menu and then, this place would be 5 stars automatically.
Richard K — Google review
Food was quite good, service was terrible. We had to get up and find someone to come and order our food because they didn’t get someone to come to us. We had to get up again to ask to order more drinks. Glasses and plates weren’t cleared the entire time we were there. Food took a long time to order, portion sizes were small for the price. There isn’t any baby change facilities which isn’t ideal for a family friendly restaurant.

Resolute Beach

Beach
Nestled in a sheltered position, Resolute Beach offers seclusion and stunning views of Palm Beach and the Barrenjoey Headland. Accessible mainly by boat due to its remote location, this 60-meter stretch of sandy beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking with its emerald green waters and absence of rocks.
Exploring the hidden beauty of Resolute Beach! 🌊 A picturesque hike, amazing wildlife, and a perfect picnic make for an unforgettable day. 🌿🏞️ #NatureEscape #ResoluteBeach" Resolute Beach is a hidden gem worth every step of the hike! We took a few kilometres’ walk from the picnic spot, and despite the rain, the peaceful, natural beauty was unforgettable. Seeing wildlife like wild turkeys and black cockatoos along the way added to the charm. The beach itself is small but perfect for a quiet escape—we set up a picnic and felt totally immersed in nature. Entry to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is $12 per car, and we parked at the picnic area before heading down the trail. Bring water, snacks, and sunblock, as there’s no drinking water nearby, and be prepared for some steep steps on the way back up. If you're ready for a little adventure, Resolute Beach is a must-visit!

A hidden gem of a beach, perfect for the adventurous. It’s a bit of a trek to get there, with steps leading down, so wear practical shoes and pack light. Some people arrive by jet ski, but hiking in makes the dip at the end feel even more rewarding. The beach itself is small and secluded, a peaceful spot to cool off mid-hike. Keep an eye on your snacks though, the local lizards lurking in the bushes are bold and won’t hesitate to steal your food!

One of my favourite beaches in Sydney. I’ve spent years eyeing it out on Google Maps and finally decided to venture there for myself. Love the vast trees behind the sand, it feels slightly magical. Hike from the car park took around 20-30 mins. You don’t need hiking gear. My friends and I did the walk in thongs and our swimming clothes. The water has some jellyfish in it, be cautious of them.
Syed A — Google review
Beautiful private beach with calm waters. Had to go down a lot of stairs but it was worth it. We went on a weekday afternoon and there was only us two the whole time we were there. Swimming was great, there were cool rocks and we even saw a monitor lizard
Benjamin J — Google review
The walk from the picnic spot down to resolute beach is beautiful. Totally picturesque and feels isolated from the rest of the world! It cost $12 to get a car pass into Ku-run-gai Chase national park for the day. Then park at the picnic spots and take the walkway down to resolute beach. Would recommend packing a backpack with waters, snacks and sunblock as there are no taps with drinking water close to the trail. There are loose stones and steep stairs down, that feel much steeper on the way up so I would recommend this trail to people that are able bodied, with strong ankles and moderate (as a minimum) cardio vascular fitness.

This one beach that really takes a little effort to get to but so worth it . There is a cascade that runs all the way down to the beach and collects in a pool on the beach . The waters hear is so clean and clear and from the beach it takes in views palm beach and headland. There is some nice natural rocks features and pools hear to explore also .

Topping off our already perfect Holidays. Decide to go for a bush walk and beach picnic. This is a great spot for a bit of hard exercise followed by a seren swim and relaxing picnic. The scenery and seclusion is amazing. Will be taking in more bush walks along the many tracks.......be warned no amenities close by and be a little fit for the walks.
Richard C — Google review
I was lucky enough to visit on a warm winters day mid-week, so the trail was almost empty at mid-morning, and what a scenic little spot this is. It’s a stark reminder that despite living in a busy city, we also have national parks on our doorstep, and you can almost lose yourself in these wildernesses. The Resolute Loop Trail runs around in a loop from the carpark all the way through to Resolute Beach, and ending on the other side at West Head Lookout. Assuming you start from the carpark, you’ll wind your way around to the lookout, and it is then a short walk from there, once you’ve soaked in the vast vista’s, back to the carpark. Enjoy the day, take your time, and be thankful that you have such wonderful escapes that you can explore at your leisure.

The Palm Beach Bible Garden, located on Mitchell Road, offers a peaceful and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the popular tourist spots in Palm Beach. This hidden gem provides stunning views of the isthmus from a different perspective, making it an ideal location for a tranquil picnic or simply to relax and enjoy the quiet surroundings. The well-maintained garden features tiered levels with beautiful stone work steps, a pond, and plants labeled with biblical references.

A beautiful serene peaceful place in the middle of all the hustle and bussel . Amazing view from the high vantage point. Small but nice tiered garden . Quiet seating . Pond. Plants well signposted with bible reference to chapter and verse. Beautiful stone work steps and tiers. Free parking for 3 vehicles. I made lunch and rested a few hours there. Not wanting to leave. Wonderful cool breeze on a very hot day. Felt totally refreshed . Felt like a soothing and healing place for the mind.

Such a wonderful place to go. The different levels give you beautiful views of the beach, and the plants with the verses are so fun to research. Very limited parking in a no through road, and with parked cars along the road - it's super tight getting up the hill. Such a serene garden and a slice of peace.

The garden is well maintained by volunteers and open to the public at no cost but encourages a donation. This beautiful garden a mixture of shrubs fruits trees and has uninterrupted views of Palm Beach . There is 3 parking spots hear just for these gardens and located on a No Through street . There is a book hear for visitors and some history to read about also enjoy your visit and keep it as clean an tidy as you left it .

Jonah’s Restaurant & Boutique Hotel is a luxurious establishment that has been a popular destination for day-trippers and extravagant events since 1929. The hotel offers contemporary rooms with balconies and stunning bay views, making it an ideal retreat for those seeking upscale accommodation.
An unforgettable winter escape! The ocean view room was even more beautiful than expected. Service was warm and seamless from reception to the waitstaff, sommeliers at dinner, and room service. We opted not to have our champagne on arrival, and they thoughtfully suggested enjoying it as mimosas with breakfast - which we did, and it was perfect. The location was incredible, even in the rain. A flawless dinner and one of the best breakfasts we’ve had made it all the more special. Can’t wait to return!

Our family came here for lunch last February. They were able to accommodate our large group after 15 minutes of wait. This restaurant has a long history, and you can't beat the location and hence the views. We enjoyed the terrace area overlooking the ocean which is lovely. The seafood and pasta dishes are quite good, however the duck and lamb are rather underwhelming, they are tough and bland. The desserts are good, however.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary at Jona's and everything was impeccable. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The barramundi with finger lime and black garlic bisque was the highlight of our evening. The anniversary chocolate gift was a nice touch. Thank you Jona's. We will be back for sure.

We had high hopes for Jonah’s as part of our wedding day, but unfortunately the experience left us deeply disappointed. We had a small family lunch at Jonah’s (around $2,000) before staying overnight in the Peninsula Room on the Honeymoon Package (around $1,800). While the food, wine, and room itself were very good, the way the venue handled our booking details and communication marred what should have been a special day. The package included a couple’s massage, and I had called ahead to confirm this could be done the day after check-in rather than the day of. On the day of our wedding lunch, staff called us mid-meal insisting the massage was ready, despite the fact we were still being served dessert. When I reminded them of my prior request, I was told it was a “late cancellation” and non-refundable. The next morning, the manager doubled down that the written reservation said 4pm, and because nothing was “in writing” about my phone call, it was my responsibility. In the end, we lost the massage and its cost, and the only “concession” was removing the dinner voucher we would have received and refunding that instead, which felt more like taking something away than making amends. Most upsetting of all, however, was that staff asked my wife, standing there in her wedding dress, how far along her pregnancy was. She was not pregnant. This was beyond insulting on any day, let alone on our wedding day. Finally, despite confirming a specific table in advance (and even seeing staff write “Don’t Move” next to our booking), we were seated at the furthest table from the views. A smaller detail, but it speaks to a pattern of poor coordination and disregard for guest requests. For a venue positioning itself as a luxury experience, I would have expected better communication, accountability, and at the very least, basic empathy. Instead, we were left with multiple errors, no real concessions, and even a deeply personal insult to the bride on her wedding day. It’s a real shame, as we had thought highly of Jonah’s before this experience.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Exceptional Dining Experience at Jonah’s Our visit to Jonah’s was nothing short of extraordinary. The restaurant offered an outstanding combination of exquisite food, professional service, and breathtaking ocean views overlooking Whale Beach. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, making it a perfect setting for a memorable evening. The staff were exceptionally attentive and well-versed with the menu and our host Jana ensured every dish was served promptly and beautifully presented. As a vegetarian, I truly appreciated the thoughtful three-course options and the introduction to the day’s specials. Every dish was crafted with care and flavor that reflected fine culinary artistry. It was a privilege to be hosted by our close friends and to finally experience this iconic restaurant after dreaming of it for so long. The evening felt rewarding, fulfilling, and truly blessed in every way.

Travelled to Sydney 3 times for work this year and found this amazing cafe in Palm Beach. I loved their slow cooked lamb gyro wrap: tasty slow cooked lamb and melting in the mouth. I also tried their corn fritter and Mediterranean salad with halloumi. These corn fritters are yummy and come in generous serving size. Mediterranean salad is bursting with flavors with grilled halloumi. Oh did I mention they have great coffee and super friendly staff in a nice and relaxing atmosphere? Here I am again! One of my favourites in the area. I come here every time I visit the Palm Beach. Very chilled and cosy atmosphere, friendly staff with great service. Food is simple, delicious and understated. I've tried almost everything on the menu. Lamb Gyro is a personal favourite - so juicy and tender. Their Deluxe Bacon and Eggs roll is also the best - simple things done just right and the result is amazing. And you pretty much can't go wrong with any of their burgers. I only wish I live in Sydney so I can visit them every weekend.

Coast Palm Beach is a fantastic coffee spot! It has such a cozy ambiance that makes you want to settle in and stay a while. What really stood out was the excellent customer experience the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great spot for your coffee fix!

Absolutely loved my visit to Coast Palm Beach! This charming café offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, perfect for a morning out. The staff were lovely and made us feel right at home. A standout for me was their seafood platter served with crunchy tasty chips and salad. It’s a must-try, bursting with fresh, flavourful seafood that truly enhances the morning dining experience. If you’re in the mood for a delightful breakfast or brunch, Coast Palm Beach is definitely the place to go!

We had the Fish and Chips, BLT and Baramundi with Turkish Bread and it was so yummmmmms~~ Highly recomend their fish and chips, and I would says it is one of the bests I have eaten by far! Crispy, fresh, juicy and fluffy chips!!! Their mocha is really delicious too. For dessert, the chocolate ice cream was really good too! Service was good and the people was super friendly and nice. There will be a bit of a wait during peak hour but that is understandable. 10/10 will be going back there soon.

We were out on a drive to get some fresh air and a break from the summer rains after a very wet week. Stopped here for lunch and ordered Mango smoothie, cleanser juice, grilled salmon, potato chips, Greek salad and a Superbowl of quinoa, lettuce, poached eggs and peas. The most expensive item on the order was the salmon and it tasted like it was fried rather than grilled. Not sure if we would have it again! The Greek salad and quinoa salad was so fresh. The drinks were okay.
