Discovery Parks - Clare

RV park
Holiday park
Discovery Parks - Clare Valley is a family-friendly accommodation option located near Clare, offering various camping and caravan sites as well as multi-bedroom cabins. The park provides amenities such as a swimming pool, bike track, and jumping pillow for kids' entertainment. Guests have praised the comfortable cabins with balconies, air conditioning, and upgraded bathroom facilities. The camp kitchen is well-equipped and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The park's convenient location allows easy access to nearby historic towns.
This place is incredible. Best long weekend away we’ve ever had. They have a great set up for both kids and adults. Two pools (one warm, one cool, both super clean), pump track, enormous jumping pillow, playground, splash park. While we were there on the long weekend they also had craft (kite making) and a colour run for the kids. I did the ‘Paint and sip’ activity and it was so much fun. The whole place is beautiful to be in, surrounded by soaring gums. We spent lots of time just relaxing in the shade, chatting with our friends and enjoying the place. There are lots wineries, distilleries and cool playgrounds nearby you can walk, ride or drive to. But it was so lovely at the discovery park we only headed out and about a couple of times in the end. We will definitely be back. Thanks for an awesome holiday.

The park is well located to Clare and other services. The toilets were not great with a couple overflowing with paper and crap - literally. Showers were nice and hot but dated. Really good camp kitchen, eating area with an open fire. Sites were very tight and I struggled to fit on one with a medium size van. Price was reasonable but I thought a bit more than I wanted to pay in winter.
Graeme F — Google review
Clare Caravan Park were incredibly supportive when our van was unexpectedly written off. Their kindness and understanding made a tough time easier to navigate. The park is clean, peaceful, and well located - but it's the people who make it stand out. Highly recommend.
David M — Google review
A fantastic caravan park. Drive through sites are so good - flat and convenient. Facilities are excellent - toilet blocks clean and purposeful. Camp kitchen - huge and useful. 2 electric BBQs and lots of tables and chairs. Pool is heated and very nice.
David D — Google review
Another great park with lots of sites. Would suggest booking as it's usually busy. Camp kitchen with pizza ovens, clean amenities, and dump point. A little way out of town and on the main road. Road noise was not a problem. Check in quick and staff friendly.
Jan L — Google review
We stayed during the October school holidays. Park was very busy and very tight spaces for caravans. Great park but severely let itself down with its showers. Absolutely no water pressure and at times no hot water. 3 shower cubicles each in male and female blocks; even with one person in the shower a 2nd person attempts to have a shower and you’re literally standing under a trickle of water. Worse if opposite sex showers are in use. Not acceptable given rates charged. Nothing worse than BAD showers when you are in a caravan park. It was discussed by many families staying in the park and no attempt made to fix the issue. The park has really let itself down with this issue.
Jodi B — Google review
Great showers and toilets. Sites a little tight and roads not wide with fairly sharp turns. I know they are expanding but could have done without a 0700 start on the diggers just behind the site each morning (especially as they stopped within a couple of hours).
Liz H — Google review
Location good, team we dealt with were friendly. Epic park facilities for children- fantastic with 2 pools splash park, jump pillow, great undercover area for people to have dinner etc. However the big downfall, sites are small, in like sardines. And the showers, the worst we've had and we are travelling full time! Old run down, no water pressure or even temperature so you stand there freezing while it trickles out even turned right up. The worst shower experience to date. Multiple guests talking and complaining about it. Not good enough for the prices charged. We have moved to camp elsewhere and will spend another week exploring the area, it's beautiful.

Mr. Mick Cellar Door and Kitchen is a charming winery and restaurant located in a former distillery in Clare. The venue offers a dreamy deck with stunning views of rolling hills and vines, providing the perfect setting for leisurely luncheons. The natively inspired menu features an emphasis on foraged ingredients from their native garden, offering a unique bush tucker experience. Despite being understaffed during one visit, the service remained friendly and attentive.
Great spot on a sunny day with outdoor space and lawn games for the kids. The tapas were excellent (especially the raw tuna) and the portion sizes were very reasonable - the kids schnitzel and chips were huge too (and they loved them). If you're in a rush, you might be better off somewhere else, but for a leisurely lunch don't miss it.

Well the weekend was freezing but all the more reason to head out and enjoy wineries 🍷. We booked to go to Mr Mick. I am glad we did, it was busy. It's a lovely place to sit, cold but it smelt good in there. So if you weren't hungry, you would be once you had smelt the food. We ordered lots of plates. I hate tapas. This is obviously not really tapas food. We decided to have our bread and arancini first. The arancini was good. Bread is so small. Onto the chicken, which was average- not exciting. My husband said the lamb was good. The carrots were ok but mash looked like it had come from a packet. Chips ok. Salad very good, dressing was very good. We choose the special for dessert. It was the highlight. The food was good. But not fabulous. Wine was ok. Again nothing to get excited about. The service was average! Three people working, well only one person really working on the floor. The amazing Miss V. The other two were hopeless. While Miss V spun around a million times, the other two were clumsy and inefficient. Total bill $177- Wine included. Would I go again. No. Thank you for the experience 🍷

Enjoyed the wine tasting, friendly and welcoming. Had the chef’s selection for lunch, loved the pork belly and chicken. Felt a little overloaded with carb dishes though, focaccia followed by deep fried calamari (very filling), followed by arancini (filling) with veges on a bed of chick peas (omg full), then chicken on a bed of couscous with bowl of baked potatoes, then came the pork belly which was great but we were so full by then. Biggest disappointment aside from the carb overload was the aioli with the potato, was wishing this was sour cream.

Well what a beautiful experience, we had been given a Mr.Mick voucher from our children and grandchildren. What a great gift, from our phone booking to today when we arrived, greeted with a beautiful smile taken to our table, waited on lie we were royalty, and the food OMG well it was just magnificent, my wife and I had the two persons menu , it really was plenty certainly not skimping on anything our taste buds were seduced from the beginning to the end of the meal. If this isn't on your bucket list then I suggest you put it on there. Thanks to all the fantastic staff, you guys and gals sure know your jobs. Will we return I can guarantee that for sure.

Loved our meals today. Both lamb and chicken dishes were amazing. We also had the dips and pita which were very flavoursome. Service was also very good and timely as well with lovely staff. Thank you for a great lunch. Cellar door was also great and after a tasting paddle we chose a Riesling.

Today was my daughter’s 30th birthday celebration. Eight of us came with great expectations to Mr Micks, with Sophie having always wanted to eat here. I’m afraid all eight of us were very surprised at how disappointing our experience was. 1. Sophie had asked for a paired chefs choice and only received one glass of wine. 2. The food was at best reasonable pub food, served mildly warm with the majority of it being fried. Having said that the seared tuna was fresh and the most enjoyed by all. 3. When enquiring if Sophie would receive a dairy free option when the remaining guests had deep fried halloumi we were told “no” as the capsicum dish would be too filling for her and the previous dish was the equivalent of two. That being a mushroom with couscous on it and a handful of salad greens and not at all appetising. Then we were curtly told they’d bring something out…a bowl of more salad greens with lukewarm bok choy served with canned coconut cream which was vile. 4. The pork belly was very tough and not crunchy and left by most. Most of the food was barely seasoned. 5. The staff were not attentive. When asked if we could please have another high chair on arrival, we were told I have one for you. I don’t know if we can do something with the pram though, we weren’t expecting that. There was barely a smile and plates were not cleared. We honestly felt as though we were an inconvenience. We were asked once if we’d like more water with one bottle given for 8. Not asked if we’d like dessert or any other wine. 6. There was no explanation of the dishes we were being served. Certainly not what we have experienced with past “chef choice dining “. And we’re not a bunch of “Karen’s”. We are a very easy going bunch and love to be with each other. 7. $63. We should have left when we first arrived and discerned it was not a welcoming place. This was something we had all saved for and really wanted it to be memorable for Soph. We’re having a bit of laugh now because it really was memorable but for all the wrong reasons. 8. When paying for the bill they tried to charge us for the pairing and then didn’t quite believe us when we said she had only received one glass. So sad I can’t be more positive with this review. As an addition to our review I would like to thank the manager and staff for their quick response and kindness they showed to us today when I came to meet them. They were very apologetic, listened intently and were very generous in making up for our experience yesterday. Sincerely…thank you.

Me & the hubby decided to grab a late lunch after hitting the Riesling Trail and this spot was perfect. What can I say the Tapas were to die for. The young lass that served us recommended how many dishes she thought we might like to order depending on how hungry we were so we opted for 5 but I think we had eyes bigger than our belly’s as the portion sizes were surprisingly big and jam packed full of flavour. The hubby found the perfect wine, Mr Mick Shiraz so much so he decided to buy an extra couple of bottles to bring home. The staff were really nice and very friendly who all seem to make it run like clockwork our tapas dishes came out at a steady rate and we didn’t feel rushed, it was a really relaxing dining experience thank you 😊 this place is a hidden gem & I would definitely recommend it

Seed Clare Valley is a modern gem in the Clare Valley, Australia. The venue offers a contemporary rooftop bar with stunning architecture and a great atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy quality coffees during the day and experience the rooftop ambiance in the afternoon. The establishment also provides excellent service with friendly staff and delicious food options, such as gluten-free pizza topped with duck, fresh rocket, crushed walnuts, and pear.
Everytime i visit South Australia it's a must for me to visit Claire and have lunch at this gorgeous little restraunt. I always get the prosciutto pizza it's divine and super filling. My friend had the chicken parmigiana, which was loaded she really enjoyed it, the only thing I would say is that is because there was so much ham, it needed to be left in the oven a little bit longer as some of the ham was cold. The staff were really lovely and when I enquired about the glass of wine I had, they let me know that they had a bottle I could purchase. I will be back and maybe I'll try something different next time.

Friendly service over the phone and at the front counter when ordering 2 pizzas for takeaway. We chose BBQ Chicken and Meat lovers, the pizzas were well loaded with toppings and at $16 each to takeaway the value is amazing. Sadly the Meat Lovers was very watery. Not sure if this came from the cheese or the tomato sauce, but it soaked through the crust and into the box below. This meant that no toppings stayed on the pizza because it was so limp. It did taste good though. The BBQ Chicken wasn't quite as wet as the Meat lovers. Both crusts (round the outside) were fantastic though! If the pizzas weren't as watery, this would be 6 stars.

Good food overall! Brest tuna entree, so fresh and tasty Ordered Lamb patty, it was way too dry and very hard to chew and swallow it. Not recommended. slow cooked lamb shank, very refreshing, not heavy and it didn’t have any gamy taste. Beef schnitzel went well with the gravy $3. It was a bit hard and dry, but overall was very good! 15% surcharge on public holiday.
Rosaline H — Google review
Well, whatever you do don't order the prosciutto pizza. A big lump of cold meat with too much rocket it falls to bits in your hand. It didn't taste good either. Too much topping, simplicity is the secret. I had a glass of wine which was nice. Enjoyed the free iced water the most. Atmospheric, a bad mix of soft R&B, not my thing, but yeah if you like it, run with it. As I went to pay the waiter asked if I wanted a box for the pizza, I said no thanks that was gross. She asked me if I liked Prosciutto, I answered yes but not this style. She asked again if I was sure I didn't want to take it. 🤯 I paid and left. Very disappointed in my dining experience tbh. Meh!

Dinner for two tonight and we weren't disappointed, lovely casual atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The Oysters Kilpatrick for starters were delicious and the spaghetti carbonara and lamb shank for mains was cooked to perfection! The cocktails went down very nicely aswell and the desserts were so good, highly recommended!

Stopped for lunch on the way to the mid North. First time at the new location...great atmosphere and decor Great service with friendly attentive staff Shared a gluten free pizza which was a bit soft and dough like. I know it's not easy getting a good gluten free base but this one was not to my liking. Topping of duck and fresh rocket with crushed walnuts and pear was superb. The chips were amazing...crisp ,salty goodness. Would be 5 star if not for that gluten free base. Highly recommended

Ticked all the boxes for me! Great atmosphere, scrumptious menu & exceptional wait service. A real little gem! Do yourself a favour & pop this venue on your list of must go when next visiting Clare.

Went in for lunch today & left wanting more. Hubby & I ordered the margarita pizza🍕 & the beef wagyu burger🍔 even the chips were fabulous. Seriously, the best we've had in a very long time. Also, the decor is stunning with black painted walls & exposed brick throughout. Even their toilets were stunning (see pic). We will be back!

Shut the Gate Wines, located on the outskirts of Clare, offers a delightful and unique experience for wine enthusiasts. This charming cellar door is adorned with eclectic decor sourced from op shops, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Known for its small-batch single-site riesling and shiraz, as well as Italian varietals, Shut the Gate truly stands out in the region.
A beautiful little cellar door which was very welcoming, especially of our little pup who could join us for the tasting. Very affordable and delicious wines. Loretta was amazing, super friendly and gave a good rundown on what we were tasting. She was very attentive and even gave us some cheese to go with our wine. Loved the little grocer that was attached as well.

Lovely warm welcome. We weren't rushed. The tastings were very good & a nice touch was free cheese & crackers. The decor of the tasting room/cottage is amazing.

Visited here as a group of 4, riding bikes on the Riesling trail. Cayden knew the wines very well, especially the varietal origins. The wines are bright and delicious and there are a great variety to choose from. Thanks for taking care of us!

Really wonderful experience in one of the nicest cellar tasting rooms we’ve been in. You could come for a tasting and stay for the vibe. Wines were great too, taking a cheeky mixed dozen home with us and some supplies from the providore too. Winning.

A definite must do for tasting. Sitting in such an amazing testing, interesting selection with great insights to share on the way.
Traci S — Google review
My wife and I went in a Thursday for a tasting, it was a very lovely looking spot so we were intrigued to try the wines. The place itself is stunning to look at with plenty of options of where to sit and have a little DIY charcuterie board, but we found the atmosphere to be lacking and the flavour of the wines on offer were muted, so didn't suit our preference. We were served by Zane, who was polite and knowledgeable.
Tash H — Google review
We recently did a wine tasting here, and it was fantastic! Garrett, our server, was so welcoming, friendly, and an absolute delight to chat with. His knowledge was helpful which helped us have a great tasting experience for both my husband and I. We couldn’t resist walking out with a few bottles of wine, along with some delicious cheese and salami. Highly recommend stopping by!

A great winery to visit with so much history attached to it. The tasting was excellent. Thank you Julian for your hospitality and welcoming nature. Your assistance and hosting made our visit enjoyable. We signed up to the wine club and are looking forward to our first order arriving home in Ipswich to remind us of the experience and location. The church and crypt was fascinating to see and walk through. 🍇 🍷 ⛪️

What a great winery! So much history. Enjoyed the wine tasting. Loved the Pinot Gris - will be ordering some for delivery when I get settled back home.

A special place. We took the self guided walking tour and we were humbled by the simplicity and peace of it. We are over wineries, but this so much mare than a winery. 12/10 for the two young ladies who helped us at the tasting counter.

Our customers always speak highly of their experience at Sevenhill Cellars in the Clare Valley. As the oldest winery in the region, it offers a unique blend of history, architecture, and outstanding wines. Guests especially appreciate the beautiful grounds, the peaceful setting, and the connection to South Australia’s Jesuit heritage. At Affordable Chauffeur Services, we often include Sevenhill Cellars in our Clare Valley wine tour itineraries, and it's always a highlight. Whether our clients are serious wine lovers or first-time visitors, they enjoy both the tastings and the rich cultural experience. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of heritage and premium wines in the Clare Valley.

The venue was amazing some great history. The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable about their wines. Worth a visit for the wines and the history of how the vineyard was established
Joe V — Google review
The Seven Hills winery is steeped in tradition, established by the jesuits way back in 1851 and, true to their faith, continuing to this day, making premium wines and topaques. The staff were very friendly and gave me much needed water on my arrival by bicycle after following the famous Clare valley Riesling trail. I was lucky to try a bottle of the Saint Ignatius, an exceptionally smooth and complex blend of Cab sav, Merlot, Malbec and Cab franc. Being on a bicycle I could only leave with one bottle but I savoured every drop!

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Sevenhill Cellars located in Clare Valley this weekend and our experience with Annika and Matt was great. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality that made us feel like old friends rather than guests. They have a natural gift for creating a comfortable and engaging atmosphere. This was my first wine tasting experience in South Australia. We were able to taste a total of ten wines from the inigo [$10]and premium [$30] range along with a platter. We could share our wines within the group, which is great! Apart from the cellar, sevenhills has plenty to offer in terms of space for outdoor wine tasting, family picnics, bicycle trails, the old Jesuit church with its basement crypt. Thank you, Annika and Matt, for such a beautiful experience. We will see you again!

This is a non profit winery runner by professionals but owned by the Jesuits. It is just a short ride from the bike trail so definitely a must. Great wine! But most of all beautiful grounds. The church is close by too and has lots of history worth it to visit!

Super dog friendly winery! Dogs can be off leash. Wine selection is great across whites and reds. Carmen’s service was top notch. We had lots of laughs together. Carmen is very friendly and welcoming. She entertained us even though we came close to closing time on New Year’s Eve. Lovely place, highly recommend!

Raining today, so we looked at reviews for a dog friendly winery, and Kilikanoon had fantastic reviews. We arrived to it being very busy (a good sign), but the staff, especially Nicole were fantastic. Our dog was well petted and even was asked if he could have a treat. The “Adventurer” package was great. Very good value for money and lots learnt. We each bought a bottle of wine and if you can stretch to the 2019 Tregea 1998 reserve superb!!!! A very enjoyable “wet” day. Thank you xx

It’s always such a delight to come to Kilikanoon. The venue is very pretty. The staff are very friendly and quite knowledgeable regarding the wines and the region. But the wines are the absolute highlight. From very reasonably priced everyday quaffers through to absolute super premium (best Shiraz in the world *twice* no less!) you’re sure to find something for every palate and level of wine enthusiasm. Defiantly put it on the list if you’re visiting Clare!

My humans visited today and kept raving about the hospitality and knowledge of Carmen, the Assistant Cellar Door Manager, who took them through an amazing flight of the wines. Thank you for making them so happy Carmen and representing the K wines so well! We will come in ourselves next time but today we were too sleepy to leave our warm car. 4 paws for being dog friendly and so welcoming! We had a wonderful opportunity as a group of 8 to participate in the Revelation wine tasting experience last month on Tuesday 11th March 2025. Off to a bumpy start as they weren’t expecting 8 of us despite my phone reservation, however all was handled with aplomb and professionalism & we all enjoyed a glass of champagne outside whilst things were sorted. Our host for the event was Carmen & we couldn’t have asked for a more bubbly (pun intended) and attentive host despite her tending to us as well as other guests, and even when under the pump her ability to keep smiling and attention to everyone was exceptional. No request was a bother and Carmen did true credit to Kilikanoon on the day. We all left more the wiser in wines, more the merrier with all the tastings, and more the poorer in the hip pocket. A big thank you for Kilikanoon in providing us with a truely memorable experience and to Carmen for ensuring it was one for the ages. Michael & Annie.

Was looking forward to having the only thing I could have in Clare being gluten free. Walked in and just the state of the sandwich boards gave me bad anxiety about my allergies flaring up. I understand that their gluten free options are always a risk with them not being a certified gluten free place. But if they offer it they should make sure the store looks clean and inviting. Very dirty and very disappointing. Maybe more training is needed!

Stood at the front of the line for 10 minutes and didn’t even get served… didn't even get recognised by the staff that I was waiting so long. A lady was waiting for online pick up because they didn’t make the sandwiches in time. Two people behind me ended up leaving. I looked in front of me to see 5 soggy sandwiches that the people in front had been waiting to be finished. Saw my fate and left too. 10/10 would recommend if your NOT hungry.

Looked like only staff member was on, but she went on break and after a minute a young boy came out to serve. While we waited, noticed how untidy the entire salad bar was and some of ingredients looking rather old. The young boy started to make our order when another staff member came out. We had seen 3 staff members now, didn't get any kind of greeting from any of them. Girl returns to shop, only to make her own lunch and chat with other boy who wasn't doing anything. Couldn't get drink I wanted as fridge was not stocked but could see slabs of drinks in back. Serviette dispenser was practically empty. Wanted to dine in but every single table was dirty. Told staff when we were leaving that every table was dirty. Again, not one response from either three staff members.

Stood in line for half an hr watching people leave the store. 1 young guy was flatout trying to keep up with orders whilst a young girl kept running away because her phone was more important. She would come out for a minute and run back to her phone. Not happy with the experience at all.
Boris — Google review
The cleanliness is horrible and they are very sloppy with making the food. Nothing ever looks washed and they dont clean utensils between orders. The hygiene of this store is very disgusting.

How many today thought (as advertised) in store at Clare SA you were paying $6 for 2 drinks as advertised in-store at least in 3 places? When I questioned it and insisted they honour it I was told No the till has been reset they cannot do anything about it. Just wrong, take the false advertising down then.

We had a delightful dining experience at The Bentleys Hotel on a Monday night. The ordering process took place at the bar, and the food was scrumptious with generous portions. The kids menu included clever additions like cucumber and carrot sticks, along with toys on the stage to keep them entertained. We particularly enjoyed their pizza night special for only $16, which was delicious. Another highlight was the sizable and flavorful roast.
Went here for a Sunday lunch to meet my mum... the service was great. The meals were really good, the slow cooked bourbon ribs were fantastic, meat fell off the bone and full of taste, mum had the pork roast of the day and enjoyed it. My partner had a chicken parmi and it was huge, took half of it home when a doggy bag was offered. We enjoyed our visit and will return again. Thank you!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bentley’s Hotel Motel in Clare! The room was immaculate, with a lovely layout and a super comfortable bed. The cleanliness was top-notch, and I felt right at home. The service was impeccable, especially from Nicole, who greeted me warmly at check-in and later took care of me at the bar during dinner. Speaking of dinner, the meal was fantastic! Overall, it was a truly great experience, and I highly recommend it!

My husband, myself & a couple of our friends enjoyed an absolutely beautiful meal at Bentley's last friday night. My husband & our friends order the stonegrill steak(various cuts & toppings) & all 3 were absolutely delicious cuts of meat & they were able to cook them to perfection on the stone grill. I had a yummy chicken schnitzel with Diane sauce & it was 10/10!! We would go back to the Bentley in a heart beat when we are back in Clare visiting!! Would highly recommend stopping in to have a meal. The service was good & the staff were also very friendly. Was a lovely vibe on a Friday night :)

Stayed two nights was excellent, room was great had a great meal on the Friday night decided to go next door to Indii the Saturday evening after waiting well over a 1-1/4 hours for our meal we left and went back to Bentley’s for a meal and once again great meal and prompt service. Highly recommend,

Staff on arrival made me feel a nuisance. Room was basic, clean touch surfaces but walls were very unattractive - old paint, old glue and maybe mould?!? Lighting ordinary. Bed was terrific, big n comfy. Bathroom clean but maybe 60s school ablution block? Concrete slabs with big cracks in walls n floor, and short curtain on shower. Location good for cafes in walking distance, but soooo noisy - traffic constant, other guests inconsiderate at 0500,0600, and staff emptying bottles/glass at 0700 into bins? Housekeeping ladies lovely! Pub smelt of deep fryers, but local takeaway cafes were good

Restaurant
Clare Rise Bakery, situated on the outskirts of Clare near Adelaide, is renowned for its delectable pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. While it may lack vegan options, visitors rave about the savory sausage roll and a variety of bakery classics such as chunky beef pies and traditional vegetarian pasties. The bakery also offers an array of homemade pastries, donuts, and sweet treats to enjoy on-site or take away.
After seeing the prices of some of the town cafes, we decided to venture out to the bakery. We only purchased takeaway, but the staff were only young, but very friendly and efficient. We shared a pastie, a spinach and feta sausage pastry, a chicken and leek pie (could have been a little bit warmer), and a blueberry danish. All delicious! Thanks

Great little bakery on the outskirts of Clare. There is plenty of selection with great products. Their ciabatta bread is fantastic. Baked treats for anyone! Definitely recommend checking out.

Amazing service! We were served by a lovely young man. We had the Parmesan pepper cheese stick, Vanilla slice, vegetable pasty and a chocolate donut. Everything was delicious, fresh. Pastry was flaky, the donut was fluffy and had a thick chocolate layer. Definitely a must go bakery.
Ben N — Google review
Wow - what a vanilla slice! Two inches of thick and delicious custard sandwiched between two flaky wafers of paradise! The pie was also great stuffed with cheese and bacon / drools / a great stop if you’re in the area
David M — Google review
I live locally and used to buy bread and pies here often. Since the new owners have taken over sometime ago, it has gone downhill in quality. Most noticeably are the meat pies. They are 95% pastry and gravy and probably even less than 5% meat. If you love a gravy pie, then this is the place for you. At $7:50 each, no thanks !!
Peter C — Google review
Visited here on the weekend & was greatly disappointed. We ordered two pies, a lamb shank & chicken riesling @ $7.50 each. What we got was a pie filled with gravy!! I found one small piece of lamb in my pie & my partner had no chicken at all in his. Will not be going back!!

Never stopped here before, but definitely will again in the not too distant future. Great food, lots to choose from, so much bread whatever is your desire I’m sure they have it, friendly service, clean. Sat out on the verandah, enjoyed the food and the sunshine!!

Skillogalee is a charming vineyard retreat offering cozy accommodations with well-equipped kitchens and inviting patios. The estate boasts a refined restaurant renowned for its delectable cuisine and exquisite wine pairings, featuring the signature spicy shiraz and top-quality riesling. Guests can indulge in leisurely meals on the verandah, savoring an array of dishes such as kale and mint risotto, roasted pumpkin, and lamb shoulder with mint/parsley salad.
From start to finish our time at Skillogalee Estate was such an amazing experience. We dined at the Barrel House and the service and food was sublime. We also were lucky to stay at the Owl Cottage on the estate which was wonderful. The cottage was so beautiful, clean and cozy. They even provided items for breakfast such as local bacon, eggs, milk and bread. The added special extras that they provided just added to the best experience. Thank you so much! We hope to come back soon!

We came for some wine tastings and it was the best experience of the day. We opted for Estate tasting $15 aud, as well as for Portfolio tasting $35 aud. It was great. Since we had a reservation, but were slightly late, there was no issue with that and very quickly we were offered a table that was already preset for our tasting experience. The young lady serving us was friendly, informative and very proactive, that made us feel welcome. The portfolio tasting does take some time, but being in such a lovely setting time passed very quickly. We also chose to order some cheese from the short menu. They do not offer a fixed cheese platter, but instead one can select different cheese from the menu, and that way to design your own cheese plate - we thought it was an excellent approach. Wines itself were tasty and worth trying indeed. It was the end of our wine trip in Clare Valley of that day and we could not have chosen for a better place.

We had a wonderful lunch at Skillogalee. We were a party of 11 and the service was perfect. Cheryl our waitress was always one step ahead of us anticipating our requests. The food was delicious and the pacing of time between each course was spot on. The dining area is well set out with minimal noise despite the large open space. We look forward to returning next time we are in Auburn.

Chose Skillogalee's Barrel House for our wedding anniversary lunch (with a couple of friends) and it definitely exceeded our expectations! We were made very welcome by Priscilla and the lovely Cheryl made sure our celebration was a special one. Nothing was too much trouble! And the meal was delicious - and the wine superb! Highly recommend!!

Experienced the wine tasting only. So much effort for only a « temporary » tasting room. From the toilets to the terrace, wether it’s the furniture, the decoration, the tapestry, you can see the refinement everywhere. A high end establishment comes with a high quality service: Iris hosted us with manners and knew her craft perfectly. Lovely to be guided by her through our tasting. The bresaola beside the tasting was delicious. Even the sparkling water was specially tasty. Easily in the top 3 of our tastings in Clare Valley. MUST visit!

My wife and I would like to sincerly thank the management and staff of the Skillogalee Barrel Room restaurant, we had visited the old tasting house room a few years ago and as the building is now under renovation, we dined at the Barrel Room restaurant, WOW, WOW, WOW, what a gastronomic delight, the choice and flavours of each dish were superb, we chose the 2x course of different plates and ordered a side dish of potato dauphinoide to share, we also had a bottle of Skillogalee Harvest Gold to accompany our meal, if you haven't been or are thinking about it, just add to your bucket list of thing's to definitely do. A big thanks also to our 3 children and grandchildren for the lovely gifts voucher ❤️ But again thankyou to The Skillogalee winery 🌟

We got married at Bungaree on Saturday and could not have asked for a better location or a better day! It is such a beautiful venue and Vicki, Mark and the staff made it so perfect with their communication, professionalism, friendly nature and wanting to help wherever they could. The option to stay on site is perfect, with beautiful buildings that have been restored and breakfast for the next morning. If you need a venue for a wedding, an event or a weekend away, Bungaree is honestly the perfect place to go Thank you so much for making our wedding so perfect xx

Bungaree Station, oh, where do I begin? As a wedding photographer, I've had the joy of clicking my shutter in many places, but Bungaree Station is like that favourite coffee mug - familiar, comforting, and always bringing a smile to my face. Every time I step foot on this historic property, I'm greeted by the rustic charm of the old station buildings, the whispering wheat fields, and the welcoming woolly residents (the sheep, of course!). It's like stepping into a living, breathing storybook, where every corner has a tale to tell. The Church, with its quaint charm and serene atmosphere, has witnessed many heartfelt 'I dos' through my lens. The Woolshed, with its rugged character, has been the backdrop for countless lively receptions. These structures, steeped in history, add a unique charm to every photo I take. But it's not just the place, it's the people too. The team at Bungaree Station is like the friend who always has your back. Their warm hospitality and dedication to making each wedding special are truly remarkable. As the sun sets, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, and the station lights up with laughter and music, I often find myself pausing, camera in hand, soaking in the magic of Bungaree Station. It's not just another wedding venue; it's a place that feels like home, a place that's a part of my own story. Bungaree Station, with its charm, history, and warmth, is a delight to work at and definitely deserves a five-star salute!

During my recent travels, I had the pleasure of discovering Jim Barry Wines in Adelaide, a gem that truly stands out. After enjoying their exquisite The McRae Wood Shiraz at a restaurant during my New Zealand trip, I knew I had to visit their cellar door. Although it’s on the smaller side, the tasting experience was nothing short of delightful. George welcomed us with open arms and shared his extensive knowledge about wine pairings that enhanced our tasting journey.
Enjoyed a chilly, leisurely Saturday afternoon at the cellar doo with George who was friendly, informative & generous with his knowledge & tastings :-) The Assyrtiko is unique, but the Clare Valley Cabernet Malbec & Armagh Shiraz were definitely worth tasting. Hand cream in the bathroom was a nice side bonus & don’t forget to smell the roses (literally). Thanks George

part of the gen 1 history of the clare valley, back to the 1950’s…and still innovating, leading, and making great wines. wide breadth of wines across wine making styles and usage occasions. their premier labels still carry the quality and care to command their prices. they ask a small price increment for these tasting…so fair and worth the price. the tasting room person was very informed and clearly loved and believed in the product. we had a blast.

We were at Jim Barry Winery on May 13 and had a fantastic time! George and Sue were such warm hosts. Sue, the cellar manager, shared the winery’s history and Clare Valley’s unique geography. George’s wine knowledge was impressive, explaining each wine clearly, especially the amazing Armagh and Florita ,we all loved them! Lunch with fresh local food was super delicious and paired perfectly with the wines. Everyone enjoyed so much! Highly recommend this lovely winery for a fun, tasty experience!

When visiting Clare SA the Jim Barry Wines cellar door Immersion Experience is a must do. Our host has been a part of the Jim Barry team for more than 30 years, and her knowledgeable and enthusiasm helped make our experience one to remember. Of course the reason to visit a winery is the wine, and Jim Barry does not disappoint. With a wide range of white, red, and rose wines included in the tasting you will surely find one or more to meet your taste no matter what your price point.

Clare Valley Model Engineers is a tourist attraction that offers enjoyable experiences for all ages. Visitors can ride on a miniature coal-driven steam train, which costs $2 per person and lasts around 10-15 minutes. The volunteers who devote their time to this place ensure that everyone has a great time, including young children and even elderly individuals like an 87-year-old grandma. The setup of the tracks, bridges, and tunnel surrounded by beautiful gardens adds to the overall charm of the attraction.
Interesting experience. Kids really like it. For $2 per trip, you can take a big ride on the small train. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers for their excellent work.

Really cool small rideable trains (7guage rails I think). Several tracks running through the park & I saw atleast 15 different engines. 1 was even an early 20th century tram car. Lots of parking. Wheelchair accessible BUT still need to take a bit of care (parking area not concrete smooth but is sealed). Please call in advance to check open days. They also do group/private bookings & tours.

Not only is the view superior and cellar door quaint, the wines are divine. Jason, the winemaker and proud owner, is a great host. A huge range of wines, all hand picked and handmade on site. Be sure to cycle your way to this beauty, just off the Riesling Cycle trail.

Lovely small winery that was cosy and quiet. Cristy was great to have a chat with and Echo the dog was happy to chill nearby. Wines tasted great, reasonable pricing for tasting, glasses, and bottles. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a relaxing wine with a beautiful view.

We had a great experience at Crabtree wines this morning. Echo, the winery doggo, came running to us as we got out of the car and kept us company throughout the wine tasting. The wines were beautiful, the Riesling and Shiraz were our favourites and we loved the fortified wines too. The host was amazing and talked us through the wines, making our experience really good too!

Crabtree Wines was our best tasting experience throughout the entire South Australian wine regions. When meeting Jason and the dog it made the atmosphere feel relaxed. Jason's knowledge of the industry was refreshing and I take my hat off to this young family having a real go. The wines are exceptional and the Grand Muscat is by far the best I've ever tasted. I wish Jason and the family all the best in getting Crabtree Wines on everyones table. The North Queenslanders

We had a tasting flight with about 8+ wines to try for only $10!! - With the fee waived if you buy a bottle. Highly recommend this winery, such a gorgeous afternoon. Thank you Jason!:)

Watervale Hotel offers a delightful experience in the Clare Valley. The beautifully renovated venue features a large outdoor beer garden and friendly staff, including their adorable dog Frankie. Guests can enjoy a fabulous tour of the farm and indulge in a 6-course degustation dinner with fresh and authentic flavors. The icon wine tasting provides an opportunity to sample exquisite Clare Valley wines while learning from knowledgeable staff. The exceptional menu, outstanding service, and warm welcome extended to families make for an unforgettable visit.
We had such a fantastic experience at the Watervale Hotel! The risotto and pasta were absolutely amazing – full of flavour and perfectly cooked. What really made the night extra special was the warm hospitality. The owner came out personally to chat with us, which made us feel so welcome and valued. It’s rare to find that kind of personal touch these days. We’ll definitely be back again soon – highly recommend!

Watervale Hotel – ★★★☆☆ We dined at the Watervale Hotel and tried their Feed Me menu. The food was tasty and well-prepared, but it didn’t quite stand out as something special. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food, there were plenty of staff around, but they seemed unsure about presenting the dishes and replaced plates without cleaning the table, leaving it messy between courses. The wait between meals was also very long, which made the experience feel a bit tiring. On a positive note, the interior design was absolutely fabulous, with beautiful paintings and artwork on the walls that gave the place a warm and stylish atmosphere. Overall, while the food and setting were lovely, the service and pacing need improvement to make the experience truly exceptional. Thanks 😊

Wonderful dinner for two. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal: I had kangaroo and quandong pie and it was delicious. Love the paddock to plate ethos and the obvious care that goes into creating good food. Friendly and attentive service, and excellent wine list. We thought it was good value for money too. And it's been beautifully renovated. Well done to the team there. 🙏

Had a fantastic lunch at the Watervale Hotel. Was a very busy Sunday of the long weekend. However the staff were great, along with the owners running tables just as hard as anyone. Shows the passion they have to give everyone a great experience. The meals were top notch, and will definitely return. Well worth the travel from Adelaide.

Popped in for lunch. Had the feed me menu at $85pp. Sounds expensive but I have to tell you it was worth every cent. I think it was 7 or 8 courses of chefs selections. I can remember going to the Watervale Hotel years back when it was a rundown pub and now it is an amazing venue. Would love to know how much was spent on the renovations. Highly recommend this place for a simply stunning dining experience. Sorry we didn't take any photographs. There is accommodation and I can only assume that it would be simply stunning.

Great food but perfunctory service at best. Waitstaff were disinterested and forgetful. Had to ask after 15 minutes for our bread so that it wasn’t delivered at the same time as the mains. Kept wanting to take our wine glasses as we hadn’t ordered a bottle but we’re waiting for a glass of wine to be poured. Tatty dessert menus plonked on our table. We were asked when we booked if it was a special occasion which it was - our wedding anniversary but this was not noticed when we arrived. It’s a great venue and superb food and the owner probably sensed we were disappointed so showed us around at the end. But the wait staff need a lesson in providing service comparable to the food and price. Frankly we had much better service from the backpackers at the William Creek Hotel.
Kim S — Google review
We have been here before and readily recommend it to others, so somewhat disappointed this last visit. Service, ambience decor etc were all great, our host the owner was friendly and obliging. As mentioned in another recent post my steak was blue or raw in the centre undercooked. The pasta was just that pasta, some olives and more kale, chilli a single slice, bland minimal and poor value. We had a side of greens which was a $16 bowl of 95% kale, it was also the accompanying garnish of the steak and main ingredient in the pasta, so why is it the main ingredient of a paid side dish. Great use your farm produce but greens are more than just that, spend a dollar and buy something other than the only thing in your garden, beans, broccoli, sprouts, asparagus etc. We paid a fair price and expect better. The other side of potatoes was good value and very tasty. I hate to write disparaging comments but in my opinion I think an honest opinion is the best way to convey our thoughts to convey constructive criticism.

Went there for the feed me lunch. Was not disappointed. The food was absolutely stunning. Every course complimented the next. And the service was outstanding. Can't wait to go back.

Antidote Kitchen is a vibrant new spot offering Indian street food, led by the former head chef of Indii of Clare. The menu has received high praise for its amazing quality and consistency, making it a top choice for takeaway in Clare Valley. Diners have enjoyed the delicious curry chicken and affordable prices, with some finding the drinks slightly more expensive. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly service have left patrons eager to return for more tasty dishes like butter chicken samosas.
Great little place for an excellent breakfast in the Clare Valley region. Perfect stop before driving back to Adelaide. Parking in the front or at the back. The service was excellent. The food was impeccable, and the coffee was great, too. Magical experience to end our weekend in Clare.

Huge congrats for the place itself. It is magical. Hard to feel nervous in the there! So well decorated, strong chill vibe, bravo 👏🏼 Food was excellent except one thing: the sourdough bread could be massively improved. A bit more generosity on the hollandaise sauce wouldn’t hurt either! Overall still very good 👍🏼 A must try would be the beetroot hummus and the orange and almond cheesecake, they were way above average. Friendly service, we had a great brunch.

Absolutely loved our visit to Antidote Clare Valley! The drinks were some of the best we’ve ever had. The chicken tikka—perfectly cooked, full of smoky spice, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish, and the service was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for a great meal and drinks in the valley!

Had the French toast and it was absolutely delightful! The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were perfectly balanced — not too sweet or heavy, just right. My partner had the chilli scramble eggs, which was also packed with flavor and really enjoyable. Also ordered the coconut cloud matcha which was also really good! A great experience overall!

Amazing food, we came back twice on our trip to clare because it was so yummy. the butter chicken and the fried chicken burger are both delicious, and hot chocolate is to die for. All of the workers are friendly too. Will be coming back😊

Lovely Cafe / Restaurant. The food was brilliant fresh and tasty. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Worth a try if you are in Clare. We had Bacon & Eggs and Chilli Scramble Eggs. Delicious

The food was delicious and well presented. There was a clear attention to detail throughout the whole place. The decor and aesthetics were tastefully done, the staff were friendly and well presented and the toilet facilities were thoughtfully presented and cared for. Our entire experience was positive and this felt like a much more put-together and high end experience than some much more renowned or expensive eateries.

Antidote Kitchen – ★★★★★ Just had the chance to try their takeaway coffee, and it was absolutely fantastic! ☕️ Smooth, rich flavour and perfectly balanced, one of the best coffees I’ve had in a while. The service was quick and friendly, making it a great little stop for a caffeine fix. Can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu next time! 🌿✨ Thanks 😊

I really enjoy dining at Indii of Clare, although some may find the menu somewhat limited, all the options are excellent choices. The kangaroo-filled pasta is particularly delightful. As a walk-in customer, I had the pleasure of being seated promptly and enjoyed a delicious meal consisting of seekh kababs, hydrabadi dum chicken, plain naan, garlic roti, garlic naan, and virgin mojito.
We’ve visited Indi at Clare on several occasions and I’ve never done a review so thought it time, the food has always been amazing every time we’ve eaten here, it’s full of flavour, vibrant and packs a punch in the dishes with just the right level of heat (curry wise) Starters ordered were delicious, the hubbies main hit the spot, my Chicken tikka masala was different this time and a tad on the spicy side even though it was mild on the scale it was a tad to spicy for me. All in all the food here is amazing, staff are knowledgeable and super friendly giving a relaxed vibe and an awesome experience Well worth a visit

Amazing food and great service. We had a huge number of entrees, mains, and breads. Perfect. Chicken Tikka entree was amazing as was the garlic prawns, scallops and the mains of prawn curry, butter chicken, mild and medium, and the lamb korma were amazing. The sides of rice, rotti, and naan were perfect. Highly recommend. Just as good or better than the indii adelaide.
Timothy C — Google review
Comfortable booth, sympathetic ambiance. The waitress was kind but didn’t know a thing about Indian cuisine or the menu. No big deal. As big fans of the butter chicken, we expected a lot of it. Quite disappointing: watery, lack of punch and smoothness. It was fortunately compensated by the mango chicken and the lamb karma. A lot of sauce to mix with the rice which is pretty nice, but not enough pieces of meat. Overall a good experience, still hesitating to come back. 3 stars is a bit harsh, 4 stars maybe too generous. I give the benefit of the doubt as they could be a full 5 ⭐️.

What can I say, we have been to many Indian restaurants throughout Australia and overseas. However this one is definitely the best we have experienced. Service staff were impeccable, food presentation very pleasing to the eye and taste. Thus ensuring a dining experience that finished the weekend. So if you are travelling through Clare S.A drop in, you won't regret it. Thanks all Lyn and Michael.

I am not reviewing their food, as I did not have the opportunity to try it. This feedback is intended for the owner to update the information on the website and outside the restaurant. Both the website and the sign outside stated that the restaurant is open for dine-in until 2:30 p.m. I arrived between 2:05 and 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, 18th October 2025, but was informed that dine-in service was unavailable and was only offered takeaway instead.

Went to Indii of Clare for the first time and OMG it was the best indian food we have had in ages. The shared Indii mixed platter was to die for and then we did the goat biryani also amazing in flavour, matched with and local white wine. The staff were about amazing young and enthusiastic. Keep up the amazing job you are all doing ❤️❤️❤️

I grabbed a takeaway so I didn't get the dine-in experience, but from my view the premises was really clean and nice open layout, very tidy. The young lady that took my order was friendly and polite, and the food id ordered was really good, the sauce was absolutely fantastic and I'd definitely go there again.

Ragu & Co is a charming Italian restaurant located in Clare, exuding rustic appeal with its exposed brick, wine barrels, and wooden beams. The establishment prides itself on offering an authentic Italian dining experience while showcasing traditional cuisine with a creative and uncomplicated flair. Housed in a beautifully restored old chaff mill, the warm and welcoming atmosphere adds to the overall appeal of this family-run restaurant.
I'm sooo glad 3 of us shared 3 different dishes, so that I got to try them all! I can't pick a favourite. And all of what we chose could be made Gluten free, including the garlic bread pizza! Friendly staff, warm fire, great atmosphere. Can recommend!!

Dinner was absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely. The mushroom and truffle arrinchini was delicious and the veal was amazing. The kids meal was very large but also yummy my son enjoyed it. Margeretta pizza was divine. Had the good cheese not just shredded cheese and also had basil on the pizza. My partner had the linguine seafood pasta dish he said that he couldn't taste the seafood and there wasn't many prawns or crab meat but was still lovely. I had the risotto with sausage and pumpkin. It was lovely and the texture for me was perfect it wasn't gluggy. Thankyou for a lovely dinner.

Authentic Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. A warm and inviting ambience inside. Upon arrival, we were escorted to our Table, close to the slow combustion fire. Just perfect ! The Menu selection has authentic Italian cuisine but also various other Dishes and Pizza as well. Prices are average and fair ( mid $30's on average for Mains) You can find their Menu online. Wine and Spirit selection is good. We had the Shiraz and the Italian Prosecco which was beautifully light on the palette and bursting with plenty of bubbles. On my shopping list for sure ! We ordered the "Maccheroni AL Ragù Napoletano" (slow cooked chunky beef and pork ragu in a rich tomato sauce) which had a generous amount of chunky meat I must say which impressed us both and the "Ravioli di Granchio" (house made Ravioli with fresh SA blue swimmer Crab, confit cherry Tomato and fresh dill) ... they were both authentic Italian and absolutely delicious ! The Service was friendly and very attentive both evenings we dined. On the first evening before leaving, a friendly gentleman by the name of Salvatore that we had seen many times busily attending to Patrons during the evening, genuinely asked us if we were happy with everything and our reply... 10/10. We look forward to returning to Clare soon and Ragu Restaurant will be the first place we will be sure to re-book. A credit to everyone from the bottom to the top, including young Rory who was our Waiter both evenings we visited. His cheerful banter was lovely, along with his sharp, attentive Service. Well done all, including the talented Chefs and others in the background that synergistically make this place great ! 👏👏👏

Wonderful dinner tonight at Ragu in the Clare valley. Two lovely glasses of Italian wine, one a lovely Prosecco and then a rose with our mains. We started with burratta with prosciutto which we shared. It was beautifully creamy and had a lovely caramelised balsamic dressing and basil leaves. Then two delicious mains, Ragu with pasta and polenta with prawns, fish and calamari in a tomato sauce. Both were excellent. A tiramisu to finish was lovely. Another excellent meal at Ragu, and we would highly recommend this restaurant.

Oh wow! What wonderful food. The beef and pork rags was outstanding, the smoked chicken…well I actually didn’t know chicken could be that tender and moist and actually be cooked! The flavours were stunning, service fantastic and the owner came around to check on things and answer any questions. Cannot recommend more highly.

Very nice authentic Italian restaurant in Clare valley. The food was very nice but not amazing but probably the best around the area. The sommelier Salvatore helped us a lot in choosing the best wines to go with our food. The location is perfect and the atmosphere inside is very warm and welcoming. If you're in Clare valley this is probably one of the best restaurants that you can find.
Fabio G — Google review
The mushroom truffle gnocchi was absolutely flavourless. I’ve had better gnocchi from a frozen meal. Food was returned and we left due to having no confidence that any of their food would be worth trying. - An addition to this review. The owner claims the meal was packed with umami - I have eaten at many Italian restaurants around the world and have never had a gnocchi that was so tasteless and watery. He even agreed that there was something wrong with the dish when he tried it after taking it back.

Sussex Squire Wines is a winery that consistently impresses with its range of great reds. They take pride in their thoughtful approach to winemaking, considering factors such as fruit, weather, and season to produce high-quality results. The owners stand behind their products and offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The Malbec and Mataro wines are particularly noteworthy, earning the winery well-deserved awards.
What a hidden little gem this place is… Well worth a visit if you’re visiting Clare. It’s a bit off the beaten track but you won’t be disappointed. Skye was amazing very welcoming and knowledgeable whilst offering a relaxed vibe. Tastings were reasonably priced considering the number of wines on offer. We predominantly tasted the reds as that’s what we like but there were other wines to taste. This family owned boutique winery is a must, so make sure it’s on your list of places to visit.

A Must-Visit for Red Wine Lovers in Clare Valley!!! Our family recently visited Sussex Squire Wines in Clare Valley, and it was truly an exceptional experience! From the moment we arrived, the owner made us feel warmly welcomed, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The wine tasting experience was phenomenal. The passion and knowledge of her family about their wines and the winemaking process were evident, and it made the tasting even more enjoyable. As red wine lovers, we were thoroughly impressed by the quality and craftsmanship of their wines, especially their Shiraz and Cabernet blends. Each wine we taste had its own unique depth and complexity, showcasing the best of Clare Valley’s terroir. We couldn’t resist making a dozen-bottle purchase to bring the Sussex Squire magic back home. So we can share with friends for the Chinese New Years! If you’re a fan of bold, beautifully crafted red wines, Sussex Squire Wines is a destination you simply can’t miss. We’re also excited to hear they’ll be in Sydney this June and are already looking forward to seeing them there. Highly recommended!!!

A must-visit local winery in Clare Valley! The owners have great passion in making wines. My hubby and I had an amazing time at the wine tasting and learned a lot about wine making and the history of Sussex Squire Wines. Mark controls his destiny as he said - he has to like it to make it, produce small - mostly reds. Their wines are available through his cellar door. I like their reds especially the JRS barrel selections. 🍷😋

If you are a red drinker, Sussex is a must-visit. I have visited twice now and loved it both times. Skye and Mark are warm and welcoming, they have a wide range of wines, and all of them are good and fairly priced. Sussex really is a hidden gem of the Clare. Don't miss out.

I haven't visited Blackman Gallery in a while, but I am impressed by the dedication and effort put in by my cousin and aunt to establish and maintain their art gallery. Although I have yet to make a purchase there, it is always enjoyable to explore the vibrant interior filled with paintings and photographs. The gallery showcases talented artists, offering a diverse range of artwork. Additionally, the framing services provided are both professional and helpful.

Riesling Trail & Clare Valley Cottages offers a variety of accommodation options in the Clare Valley region. From pet and family-friendly cabins in the bush to self-contained winery accommodations, there's something for everyone. The cottages are well-maintained, with amenities like air conditioning and spacious bathrooms. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches such as ample breakfast provisions and a peaceful ambiance with birds chirping in the background.
We stayed 5 nights in Lilac Cottage. We booked via the Cottages website. Communication with our host was very prompt and helpful particularly as we arrived very late at 11.30 pm. The cottage is lovely accommodation for 2 people. It was a reasonable size, clean and sufficiently furnished and equipped for the independent traveller. The queen-size bed was comfortable. The shower was good but the shower curtain does allow water to escape onto the bathroom floor. The aircon and wifi are good The breakfast provisions were very good. There is nice outdoor furniture and BBQ although we did not use the latter. It’s a convenient location - central to Clare Valley. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Amazing place. Walking into a peaceful clean, nice smelling cottage with beautiful music playing. It feels like im in another world, the birds chirping in the back ground, lots of light and fresh air coming into the room. Checked the kitchen to find bread, spreads, milk, juice, eggs, coffee and teas. Absolutely blow away by this. These small additions make such a difference. Bathroom is amazing - new and clean and big. Love this place - thank you :-)

The certificates were really well presented and done so quickly. Thanks Fran 🦋

Ample breakfast provisions, beautiful tranquil serenity with so many bird sounds. A few steps away from trail and E bike hire. Bedrooms upstairs. Perfect location.

The cottages are cosy, clean & well appointed. The only draw back is the lack of hanging space. In our case we were there for 4 nights so the ability to hang more items would be great. The bed was softer than we are used to but still comfortable.
Shaun F — Google review
The accommodation was clean, roomy, lots of breakfast provisions. The outside are was great that we could all sit around have a bbq. However the communication this time I felt it wasn't as welcoming as last year. Check out was 10am that's fine we were all packed and ready to leave but I thought it was a bit rough that the cleaner rolled up at 9.56am and came into our room dead on 10am , she was lovely but I've never stayed anywhere that this has happened before. Most places would allow you at least 5mins past your time. Also wasn't that comfortable that the garden was being watered once we returned to our rooms from being out and we were all sitting outside , just felt we were being checked on. I feel maybe the current owners haven't got their heart & soul into anymore. Hopefully they'll get someone to purchase the property because it's a great setting

I purchased an indigenous artwork online and had a fantastic experience. I had been browsing the internet and found a beautiful painting by Gracie Morton. I emailed the gallery to ask about pricing and also additional images. It was my first time buying art online and wanted to be as sure as I could be before ordering that the colours would be true when it arrived. Colin was fantastic and very patient. He emailed me additional images and genuinely wanted to be sure I would be happy with my purchase. While I had every confidence I would be happy, he was very accommodating with the process for return if not. Colin kept me informed after the painting was sent and checked in when it arrived to be sure it met my expectation. I have already had several compliments on my purchase. The only thing that could be better would be visiting the gallery in person. The online selection is stunning. Thank you Colin!

Some lovely artwork both framed and canvas - was a bit overpriced for our pocket

Truly beautiful artworks (including Didgeridoos) with a very knowledgeable owner who was more than happy to share his vast experience. Pick up some Doodads (postcards) theyre brilliant. Thanks

Great artwork to be found here, which is often made by artists on site. Owner is very knowledgeable and kind to assist. Visited on a Thursday.

Gallery owner was very accommodating. Learned a lot about central Australian Aboriginal art, pleasantly surprised.

Awesome Indigenous Art Gallery where the proprietor is genuinely concerned about promoting and recognising the artists. Highly recommended.

Yesterday, a group of ten individuals had the pleasure of visiting Greg Cooley Wines in Clare Valley. Greg and his wife proved to be both remarkable individuals, deeply passionate about their craft. The tasting experience was akin to attending a captivating performance, as they showcased their true character and love for what they do. Not only did guests have the opportunity to savor exceptional wines, but they were also thoroughly entertained. Without a doubt, this establishment is an absolute must-visit when in Clare Valley.
What a great place, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Meet Greg and get a story (many to hear) Wines are reasonably priced and all hit the mark especially the Sparkling Shiraz. Well worth the visit if you are in Clare.

I happen to be driving through Claire making my way down South Self Crew when I came across this beautiful cellar/bar. I couldn't believe it. I was soo stoked with pulling up here. There is a little boutique bakery attached to the side of the cellar. I met the owner of the Cellar. She was so nice and very friendly and helpful. I met their dog chino who is the cutest dog 🐶🐕 I bought a bottle of Riesling. I tell you it was one of the best Reislings I've ever tasted

I have been to quite a few wineries but none as great as Greg Cooley Wines As you walk up from the car park the stairs lead straight to the Pie Bakery which I purchased a Chicken Riesling pie then a right turn from those first steps into the warm fire 🔥 greeted by the resident Dog and cat on the couch Big selection of wines which after tasting a few reds I choose the Spakling Shiraz

Greg was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make our holiday special! He even took the time to write us a list of amazing places to visit, which made our trip so much easier and more fun. Such a great chatter too – we had some lovely conversations. Your friends from America appreciate everything, and you're always welcome to visit us in Abu Dhabi anytime!

Great little winery on the town fringe. Music every weekend with a sip or two of Greg's great range of wines. Rose is really nice on a hot day. With a feed I'd go for his BBQ Red. The whole team are such good hosts and glad to stop for a chat. Greg likes a colourful shirt at any time of day but you should remind him to get a bigger size. He He! A must visit place should you go to Clare....Love it!

My wife and I enjoyed visiting here. Greg was really lovely and super helpful in regards to wine selection and other places to visit in Clare. My wife really loved the dog Chino. They had some sweeter tasting wines that suit my palette.

Not even 5/5 stars - should be 7/5 minimum! All the wine here is superb. Loved the Grenache and sparkling red. The experience was absolutely made by the wonderful conversation we had with Greg and the new wine dog! Would recommend this place to anyone coming to the Clare valley or even not going to Clare to go! Be back again

Clare Valley Motel

Located in the serene countryside, Clare Valley Motel offers modern and comfortable accommodation at affordable prices. The motel features a casual restaurant and a refreshing saltwater outdoor pool. For those seeking a pet and family-friendly stay, Clare Valley Cabins is another great mid-budget option nestled in the bush. Additionally, guests can enjoy golf and other recreational facilities at the Clare Country Club resort.
Stayed here for 2.nights, the room was quite large and kitchenette was big enough. It's a little dated and needs some maintenance but overall was a great motel to stay. Bed was King size and comfy. Location was good. The owner was very nice.

Perfect Stay – Postcard Views & Modern Comfort This place truly delivers. The location offers a postcard-worthy outlook — peaceful hills, treetops, and open skies right outside your door. Whether enjoying the scenery through the large window or stepping outside, the view sets a calm and relaxing tone for your stay. The room itself is immaculate and beautifully designed. The care taken by management is obvious. The renovations aren’t just “good enough” — they’re done with precision and pride. Every detail, from the perfectly folded towels to the spotless presentation, makes you feel valued as a guest.

I arrived before 5pm to be greeted by an automated check in system. Thankfully it worked without any major hiccups. The position of the motel perched on the hill, almost in the centre of Clare, overlooking the bush opposite is exquisite!!! The huge swimming pool with surrounding beach sands, outdoor lounges, covered BBQ areas takes full advantage of the aspect and location. Arriving by bicycle on a 34c day (in April mind you!) meant check-in, dump the bike as quickly as possible, and jump straight into that glorious deep beautifully maintained swimming pool! This place is more aptly described as a Clare Valley resort than a motel. I plan to stay here again, loved it.

Stayed in a fairly basic room at upper end of price range for this type of accommodation. That said it was clean and comfortable and did the job. Main building in the motel complex is chalet like and possibly more upmarket. Well located on main road and situated on an elevated location on a hill overlooking the valley.

We stayed in three bedroom apartment. Was excellent. Lovely and spacious and well set out. Great location not far from the shops. Helpful staff.

Maggi is a great host . She gave us the last room and at very competitive rate. The motel room was spacious and clean. We will not hesitate to stay here next time we come to clare. It is also close to all pubs, shops and eateries. Keep up the good work Maggi

Clean and spacious room and comfortable bed. We really appreciated that our room had the heater on before we arrived as it was a very cold day.
LYNETTE B — Google review
Service was terrible, was given a room that had somebody living in it, didn't realise until I opened the room, and was about to walk in. The pictures used to advertise this place don't match what you get. The rooms are run down and in need of a renovation. TV's are from the 90s, carpets are filthy, and sofas were just as dirty as the carpets.
