Shopping mall
Shopping
Vision City Mega Mall is a popular destination in Port Moresby, offering a vibrant and modern shopping experience. Connected to The Stanley hotel, it features a variety of stores catering to both locals and tourists. The mall boasts two levels with convenient parking, an array of Asian-style restaurants, a pharmacy, and a hypermarket. Visitors can enjoy diverse shopping options and a lively atmosphere. Despite its location in a bustling city, the mall provides a safe environment for shoppers.
Port Moresby’s ultimate shopping playground! With everything from fashion, electronics, and groceries to restaurants and a cinema, it’s the perfect spot to lose track of time. The food court has plenty of tasty options, and there’s always something happening, from fun events to promotions. Parking is ample, but it can get crowded on weekends. The mall is clean, modern, and a great place for a day out whether you're shopping, grabbing a bite, or just people-watching. Definitely the city’s go-to for a bit of everything under one roof!
Georgina P — Google review
Local mid-market mall (or up-market locally speaking) next to The Stanley hotel with a direct connection accessible by hotel guests only. Mall itself looks fairly new and / or recently updated. The mall has two levels with parking, there are quite a number of restaurants, mostly asian style cuisine or Chinese, to be specific. There is a pharmacy and hypermarket along with a number of stores that cater mostly to well to do locals and expats as well as tourists like myself.
William C — Google review
Vision City Mega Mall in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea’s largest shopping complex, is a vibrant three-story hub covering 47,000 sqm. Opened in 2010, it houses over 100 stores, including RH Hypermarket, international fashion brands, local boutiques, and a cinema showing the latest films. The food court and restaurants like Dynasty and Hog’s Breath offer diverse dining, while amenities like ATMs, a pharmacy, and a post office add convenience. Security is tight with metal detectors and visible guards, creating a safe vibe, though petty theft and slow revolving doors can frustrate. Weekdays are less crowded, and parking is ample but fills up on weekends. Cleanliness varies, with newer wings feeling slicker. A must-visit for shopping and entertainment in POM, but don’t expect a world-class mall.
Cyril B — Google review
It was good , it connects to the Stanley Hotel , if you’re a business traveler and you forget something you can always find it there. A lot of food options too but I haven’t tried.
Daniel K — Google review
If you like average shopping malls in lawless metropolises, this is the place for you. Once you pass the metal detector at the door you can buy everything from a cappuccino to a bullet proof vest. There’s absolutely no vegetarian food and a surprising absence of pickpockets. I imagine those caught are summarily executed. Would go back again.
David J — Google review
There is a smell (like a soiled baby diaper) in VC City Pharmacy & Jack's of PNG, which is located right above City Pharmacy, it's been there for a couple of years now, I wonder why building management hasn't checked the air vents, something either died there or the air filtration system has an issue. Otherwise the rest of the mall is fine.
Danica — Google review
Newer two-story mall in Port Moresby with a variety of stores and eateries. Many accept credit card or e-wallet payments. Not many (or any?) Western retailers. Technology stores, local crafts, beauty products, clothing, etc.
Paul — Google review
Papua New Guinea shopping at it's best. This modern shopping complex brings the best of this nation's culture mixed with South East Asian products. The product range is vast and well priced from sports gear to electronic goods. I would recommend the supermarket and food outlets as good value and an excellent range of items.

RH Hypermarket offers a good mix of retail shops covering a wide range of products. The supermarket section is well-stocked with daily essentials, fresh produce, and household items. Convenient location, clean layout, and friendly service make it a solid one-stop shopping spot
Afeef N — Google review
RH Hypermarket Vision City, Port Moresby’s largest supermarket, is a bustling retail hub in the Vision City Mega Mall. Spanning over 10,000 sqm, it offers 45,000+ products, from groceries and fresh produce to clothing, electronics, and home goods. Known for competitive prices, fresh local produce, and a safe shopping environment with ample parking, it’s a one-stop shop. The store features a bakery with Brumby’s pastries, an Australian-supervised meat section, and a seafood counter with prep services. Dining options include local and international cuisine. However, some shoppers note slow customer service and occasional cleanliness issues. Open daily 9 AM–9 PM, it’s a vibrant, convenient destination, though weekend crowds and parking can be challenging.
Cyril B — Google review
This is the best place to shop if you are new to Port Moresby. It is a mixed use mall with good parking space and a conducive environment. Guaranteed safety within the premises and a good place to hang out with friends and families.
Gerald H — Google review
The biggest shop in the Vision City Mall, carries a good variety of products. They have household items, groceries, kids toys, baby care, it's a one stop shop. Affordable for the most part. The security though treat their customers like everyone's a thief, dreadful for any parent carrying their baby's necessities in a tiny bag.

The Vision City (VC) Hypermarket has shopping malls, restaurants, tech shops, clothing shops, barber shop, food courts, homeware items, gaming lounge, cafe, cinema and club. It has car parking spaces and taxi pick up / drop off available. Anyways yu yet kam na lukim.

Art Museums
The Papua New Guinea National Museum & Art Gallery is a treasure trove of the nation’s vibrant indigenous culture, beautifully renovated to celebrate the 40th anniversary of independence. This remarkable museum offers an immersive experience into the rich tapestry of PNG's history and traditions through its thoughtfully curated exhibits. Visitors can explore themes such as musical instruments, ceremonial drums, body adornments, and intricate masks alongside impressive totem poles from the Sepik region.
Papua New Guinea National Museum showcases the nation’s rich cultural and natural history. Highlights include traditional costumes, tribal artifacts, and historical exhibits. Friendly staff, easy to navigate, and ideal for a short educational visit. Perfect for anyone curious about the country’s heritage. Small museum, so plan about 1–2 hours.
Natalia C — Google review
This is my personal favorite address in Port Moresby. When people say Papua New Guinea has over 800 tribes, each with its own distinct language, this museum is the living proof. Unfortunately, it’s poorly managed. For starters, visitors are often left guessing whether it’s even open. The sign outside says it opens on Sundays from 1–3 PM, but on many Sundays I’ve visited, it’s been closed during those hours. I understand PNG is a Christian country, which may explain the closures, but Sunday is often the only day families are free to visit! A Monday closure, like many museums around the world do would make more sense. I’ve heard that overseas visitors can sometimes arrange a private visit through their hotel when the museum is closed, though I haven’t confirmed this myself. Another issue is the lack of recent publications. The last known collaboration was over a decade ago. For a museum that only displays a small portion of its full collection, publishing research or catalogues would be a great way to preserve and share PNG’s cultural knowledge, especially considering the country’s most prestigious university (UPNG) has a dedicated anthropology and archaeology department. On my most recent visit, only half the museum was open. Entry was through the back door, tickets were inconsistently charged with no receipts, even parking was charged “per person”, not per car, again with no receipt. It all felt very opaque. The displays themselves need attention too. Some labels are inaccurate, for example, a bilum described as having seeds is clearly decorated with cowrie shells and other seashells. It is also unmistakably from the sepik region, but the origin isn’t mentioned on the label card. With PNG’s vast cultural richness, these details should be better provided. Other practical issues include broken air conditioning, understaffing, and a lack of supervision, parents often let young kids run around the artifacts unchecked. Despite all this, I love this museum. It’s a treasure trove of PNG’s cultural heritage and identity, and a rare space where so many of its diverse traditions are brought together under one roof. Not to be missed by any POM residents or visitors!!!
Mimi K — Google review
One of the most incredible places to visit in PNG. It provides so much historical and cultural context through artifacts, clothing, and art. There is so much to see and everything is well explained. It is free to enter, but do ask for donations. Note that the staff will sometimes close the museum if they have a meeting. Recommend getting there early in the day (right when it opens) to ensure one has time to see things.
James — Google review
They've renovated the place and it's more spacious and has more lighting now. Quite alot of artifacts from WWII, a whole room or corner dedicated to the history of the fuzzy wuzzy angels and the WWII relics. It had potteries, head dresses to other traditional weapons, tools, bilums etc on display. However, it would be nice to see a whole variety of artifacts or have a corner each decimated to the different regions that is the NGI, Momase, Southern and Highlands so locals and tourists alike can appreciate the vast variety of cultural artifacts and history from the different regions. All in all the experience was top tier, had a great time there. Would highly recommend visiting the Museum while in Pom and I'd rate the experience a 9/10 because PNG cultural heritage is rich and it only captures a fraction of that.
Teme — Google review
Probably the best museum I’ve ever been to. A simple but thorough collection of extremely well preserved and fascinating objects that represent the tapestry of Papua New Guinean culture. An absolute must if in Port Moresby - there isn’t much tourism completion in town!

For you who love art and History. You may enjoy the beauty and History of PNG from the artefacts. The flow and presentation is really good and well prepared. The information in each diorama is really useful. It will be really good if the management provide audio as well. Must visit list while in PNG!

This Place is a Glimpse of the country whole. Just a step inside and you can feel the vibrancy of the country's Richest culture and traditions boasting over 800+ tribes and cultures blending into one another. The friendly faces of the staff will have lost in the artefacts background and the practices each tribe has. This is one of the must go to location when in the country....

Buffalo Burger, located in both Waigani and Downtown, is renowned for serving the top-notch burgers in town. Compared to their competitors, they offer excellent value for money. The waiting time for orders is reasonable, ensuring a smooth dining experience. Additionally, they provide a secure carpark with ample parking space. This fast-food joint also excels in offering delicious fries and burgers at affordable prices. However, the seating area may be limited in size.
After not being here for a while. The remodeling has really given it a nice vibe. Greatt to bring families to eat. Open 7AM-7PM everyday. Central location easy to get to. Plenty space for parking. Menu serving everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Best Burger in town. They have two outlets, One is in Waigani and the other is at Downtown. Value for money compare to their competitors. Decent waiting time for orders. Secure carpark plus parking space.

I recently tried the Kiwi Deluxe burger, and I have to say, it left a lot to be desired. The meat patty was disappointingly flat, dry, and lacking any seasoning to really bring it to life. On a brighter note, the fries were decent, providing a small redeeming quality to the meal!
Joe N — Google review
Great fast food. Best fries and burgers in town. The prices are affordable. However space at sitting area is limited. Big car park space though. The service is fast as well.
Beryl K — Google review
The foods great. An easy 8 out 10 if you want great burgers and fries at a convenient price. The service is a bit slow. But I guess good food takes time. There isn't much seating. So its pretty much a pick and go. If you're catching a bus, that maybe a problem, because food may get cold, but if you come in your car, then you're set. Stop by and see for yourself.
Elena ( — Google review
Went to the Waigani branch today for lunch and was very very dissatisfied and disappointed in the burgers that I got, Thinking that it is associated with the MEAT HAUS a that they would serve FRESH meat patties! But sadly it was just a premade patty and tasteless. I will for sure not ever go back there again!!!

Stop and shop is well suited in a central location where there is different variety of items on display and large parking lot and is secure as there are number of security firms monitoring through CCTV and static guards ,it's a avenue that makes a product in numerous styles and flavors that satisfy needs and wants. Hurry while stock last!
Richie N — Google review
This is a more budget friendly place to shop, and it’s the best place to find Indian cooking ingredients and snacks. Prices are generally cheaper, but not always. They also make fresh coconut milk here, which is a nice touch! You’ll also find a wide range of local ingredients, such as cassava, sago, and occasionally even bamboo tubes and highland ferns for mumu. The downside is that the meat and seafood sections often give off unpleasant smells and don’t look and feel hygienic. However, for staples and pantry items, this place offers better value overall.

Poor pricing and customer service.. an order of duck and rice worth 30 kina gets changed to mixed chicken and pork and rice which is about 24 kina due to unavailability. No refund on the cards, manager suggested spring rolls in addition to the rice to make up for cost but didn't serve it. Imperial nearby is much better.

A really nice place for special occasions, like birthday parties. The children have a lot of interesting things to look at and explore the various animals and different species of plants. Reccomend this venue for special occasions like birthdays, weddings etc

Great outing with the kids, same animals no new attractions. Visible wear and tear on the platforms. Great food. Maybe next time bring some cards or balls to kick around, make it more interesting for the kids.

A peaceful escape in the middle of Port Moresby! Great for seeing native wildlife like birds, reptiles, and cassowaries. Trails are easy to walk, and the staff are friendly. Perfect for a half-day visit with family or solo travelers.
Natalia C — Google review
Lots of interesting animals here - birds, bats, wallabies, snakes swallowing chickens. There's also a cafe/restaurant inside to grab lunch if you're hungry.
Amelia C — Google review
Awesome, but it's a bummer that some enclosures only have a few animals🥲. Overall, the park itself is nice, good for escaping and chilling out away from the city noise. I mean, the park itself is in the city lol🤭.

Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful spot out on the periphery of the capital where you can see the best of PNG wildlife. Nice shaded cafe area too

Market
Gerehu Vegetable Market is a vibrant hub for fresh produce, offering an impressive selection of garden vegetables at reasonable prices. This market serves as a vital space for local sellers to showcase their goods, especially as many other markets in the city have faded away due to development. While it can get quite congested with PMVs and taxis, making navigation tricky at times, the atmosphere remains lively and welcoming. The best time to snag great deals on fresh food is during the evenings when prices tend to drop.
Gerehu local market has a variety of Fresh garden vegetables. It's safe, and a bit crowded.

Golf
The Royal Port Moresby Golf Club is a green oasis in the heart of the city, offering a challenging 18-hole course suitable for both seasoned pros and beginners. The course features water hazards on some holes, including a lake with rumored crocodile inhabitants. In addition to the golf course, the club offers amenities such as a driving range, putting green, restaurant, and bar. Visitors can enjoy beautiful surroundings and live broadcasts of events like the PNG Open.
The only Golf Club in the city. Has had great improvement this year in terms of services and other things. And they are affordable in terms of fees compared to other golf courses I've played at.

For those looking to unwind with a drink, Duffy Café also offers an impressive selection of wines and beers.
One of the best places in town for expats to have a nice coffee and meal
Caleb G — Google review
We chose this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. Parking is on the road in front of the store. There will be a person there to guide you, so we followed their instructions. There is a security guard in front of the store, so you can feel safe. The inside of the store was spacious and very stylish. Once you've received a menu, you order at the counter. I order a break fast burrito wrap and flat white. It took about 10 minutes for it to be served. The most important thing is the taste... I loved it. It was a lot of scrambled egg and bacon and cheese…. The green sauce was basil flavored. The portions were just right. Also flat white was super good. It was a little bit bitter but coffee aroma was good. I will come here again.
YOSHI M — Google review
One can easily get discouraged by the fact that you have to park on the roadside and then walk in. But then, everything changes. The setting is simply beautiful. The toasted, chicken sandwich was filling. And of course, coffee, coffee, coffee . . . why i decided to try out this place - truly PNGean flavour.
Brian A — Google review
Pleasant atmosphere with leafy patio or cool indoor seating. Standard cafe fare (pastries & coffee, sandwiches & brunch options, with one or two hot dishes) is pricey. The coffee is good, if somewhat strong. Duffy brand beans & grinds are also available for purchase. The excellent doorman, clean venue & good service, are a plus.
Emmajil R — Google review
One of the nicest cafes in Port Moresby that offers delicious coffee and great breakfast. While it is on the pricier side, they have good quality food, very friendly and attentive staff, and lots of seating (with AC). I would highly recommend stopping by to taste the coffee at least!
James — Google review
One of the better cafes in Port Moresby that has a good atmosphere, very clean & good for meetings, but the food was terrible. We ordered Katsu Sando (mehh), bolognese (3/5 quite sweet), and chicken schnitzel (so dry & feels like you’re eating cardboard). For the serving portions & taste, the food is way overpriced. It costs the same as what you can purchase at Hilton Hotel.

Boroko Market

Market
Boroko Market is a bustling city market that offers a wide variety of fresh and organic produce, including fruits, vegetables, and meats. Local villagers bring their products to the market, ensuring a supply of healthy and affordable food items. The market provides ample parking space and is manned by guards for safety. Visitors can expect friendly sellers who offer warm greetings. It's recommended to visit in the morning for the freshest selection of vegetables or just before closing for the best prices.
Boroko Market, situated in the Boroko suburb of Port Moresby, is a vibrant hub for fresh, organic produce. Vendors, including farmers from Sogeri and Magi, offer a diverse selection of fruits, vegetables, and occasionally seafood. The market is known for its affordability and reliability, with friendly sellers greeting visitors warmly. Safety is a priority at Boroko Market, featuring a significant security presence that ensures an orderly and structured environment. Female vendors have expressed that it is a safe place to work, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. For the best selection of fresh produce, it's recommended to shop in the morning. However, for more favorable prices, consider visiting just before the market closes. The market operates from Monday to Saturday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. In addition to fresh produce, Boroko Market occasionally features a craft section where visitors can find handmade souvenirs, including intricate carvings, tribal masks, and natural fiber bags. Overall, Boroko Market offers a lively and secure shopping experience, providing a wide variety of fresh, organic products at affordable prices, making it a must-visit destination in Port Moresby.
Willie N — Google review
The facilities are very poor, with most vendors sitting and selling off the ground. The walkways also need some improvement, with visitors having to negotiate through scattered watery pathways. Other than that, the quality of the produce is good and on par with that offered by Gordon's market vendors.
Matthew R — Google review
Boroko market was well constructed with proper facing and security in place. Fresh garden crop were sold on affordable prices.
Benson R — Google review
Fresh garden food. For the best price, shop just before the market closes. Otherwise, to get fresher vegetables, shop in the morning.
Rayner P — Google review
Best fresh produce market in the city . Safe and secured.. Need me to me your guide let me contact me.
Miki H — Google review
Safe and secure produce market. Prices are affordable but a bit more costly compared to Gordon's produce market. Moreover, the produce and garden goods that the mothers sell are in great condition and are fresh. Usually, unsafe in the early hours of the morning and in the late afternoons. It's open and friendly but the surrounding can be very dusty and humid during the sunny dry season, that Port Moresby offers. Moreover, the elephant in the room at the Boroko local market is that the locals of the land of Port Moresby and of the near communities of Central province and NCD are not properly housed to preserve and sell there produce. They are not respected and are abused and bullied by the outside settlers of other provinces oftenly.
Samuel R — Google review
Boroko Market is a City market and the produces are brought from the fringes of the City and sold there. It has variety of fresh and organic produce from garden foods to fresh meats. It's very affordable and reliable. Spaces parking lot and friendly sellers that will greet you with a warmth smile as you enter the market. Very trustworthy and reliable 💯😄👏

Patrons can enjoy delicious food without enduring long waiting times or delays in receiving their orders. Sosori B — Google review
Extremely Disappointed with My Experience at Buffalo Burger I recently visited Buffalo Burger in Port Moresby on January 2, 2025, and had a deeply troubling experience that I feel compelled to share. While eating my breakfast wrap, I discovered a tooth inside my meal. This was not just an accident—it was a serious breach of food safety, and I immediately brought it to the attention of the staff. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, the management failed to offer a proper apology, replacement meal, or even a refund. Instead, they simply collected the tooth and handed me a form to fill out. The lack of accountability and customer care was shocking. What followed was even more alarming. Instead of addressing the incident with professionalism, the company began threatening me with legal action and intimidation. I was contacted numerous times through emails and phone calls, where I was accused of defamation and false reporting, despite providing clear evidence of the incident. The situation escalated further when I was contacted repeatedly—despite my request for all communication to go through me directly—leading to emotional distress for my family, especially as we were in the midst of a mourning period. It is deeply concerning that a business would attempt to silence a customer who is simply sharing their truth. This type of bullying behavior, combined with a clear lack of food safety standards, has been extremely disappointing. I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Buffalo Burger to think twice. I would also encourage the management to focus on improving both their food safety practices and customer service, and to act with integrity and professionalism in their dealings with customers. I will continue to seek justice for this incident, and I hope that this review serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and respect for all customers.

Luluai is a restaurant located in Gordons, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The atmosphere at Luluai is described as great and the food is said to be amazingly good. However, some customers have mentioned that the service was a bit slow and inattentive, having to flag down staff multiple times and wait a long time for their meals. Additionally, there were complaints about not being provided with sauces for their meal unless requested.
The Staff at Luluai were very understanding. I came in with my aunt and my phone died and to make matters worse, I left my bank card at home. They served us anyway 🤯 I'm so grateful for their understanding and humanity. Annnd the staff were very friendly and helpful 🙏🏾❤️ We eventually paid and left 😊

The Dirty Kitchen is renowned for serving the finest burger in town, according to some patrons. While I cannot personally vouch for this claim, their burgers are undeniably excellent. The menu offers a choice between fries or no side option at all. For lunch, I have visited twice within a span of two weeks and opted for their signature Dirty Burger each time. True to its name, this burger delivers simple yet superb flavors, accompanied by tasty fries that arrive promptly.
They've moved to Lahara recently. Burgers are still delicious as always, service is quick and friendly, and the spacious dining area is clean, air-conditioned and very welcoming. There's good music playing in the background and freshly brewed coffee if you fancy some! There's a graffiti wall inside to leave your mark, just ask them for a marker 😁

This fast food joint was safe, relatively clean, and the service was friendly and efficient. However, If you're looking for any healthy option, this is definitely not the place to go, as there’s none! The focus here is on indulgence. So if you're in the mood for a hearty meal, you won't be disappointed, portion size was super generous!

Popped into this little burger joint in town for the first time today. The customer service was decent overall—quick and efficient—but a simple smile from the staff would’ve made it feel a lot more welcoming. The counter attendant in particular could use a bit more energy. I ordered the Dirty Burger, which came with a side of fries. The bun was soft and fresh, the patty cooked well-done with just the right amount of seasoning. The fries were hot and fresh too, which was a nice touch. Wait time was reasonable at around 10 minutes. Overall, I enjoyed my first meal here and would recommend it to fellow burger lovers looking for a solid bite in town.

We have been twice now in two weeks for lunch. Both times had the Dirty Burger which does exactly what it says on the tin. Simple great tasting burger and fry’s, comes quickly and a great place to sit outside undercover to eat your tasting food. There are no bells and whistles and the food does all the talking would highly recommend!

Ang's Restaurant is a beloved culinary gem in Port Moresby, renowned for its diverse selection of Chinese and Malaysian dishes. When you visit, be sure to indulge in the Wonton Pork Noodle and Nasi Lemak, paired perfectly with a pot of traditional Chinese tea for an authentic dining experience. The restaurant has recently relocated but continues to impress with its delicious offerings, including favorites like roasted duck and chicken rice served with delightful condiments.
Wonderful, delicious & authentic Malaysian/ Chinese restaurant in Port Moresby! Extensive menu, but a must have is the roasted duck & chicken rice! They also come with great condiments of chilli garlic sauce, chopped garlic & chilli in soy sauce. We also had garlic kangkung which was also really yummy!! Also, they have more dishes that are not on the menu, so you can ask the staff what they have!

Ang's is an institution in Port Moresby. Wonderful food & wonderful people. Even though it's moved they've retained many of the staff but not the chef. Even with a new chef I'm pleased to say the quality & taste of the food is just as good as it was before. As noted by another reviewer the new location has plenty of off-street, secure parking. Someone also commented on staff being less than excellent, even rude. I'm inclined not to agree. Yes, they have their own style but they are good. I'm a regular diner and I don't have to order, the service staff know what I like & simply confirm with me if I want that or something else. PNG service can be challenging & the staff at Ang's are the best I've come across.
