Lobster Shack in Cervantes WA offers a vibrant and relaxed dining experience with its timber decor and outdoor seating, providing a perfect setting for enjoying lunchtime seafood meals. Situated in a stunning coastal location overlooking the Coral Coast, this licensed restaurant serves up fresh Western Australian seafood including succulent lobster, fresh fish, prawns, and abalone. Visitors can also enjoy drinks on the beachside deck while taking in the picturesque views.
I read the reviews and wasn’t sure how this place would be. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! It was one of the best seafood platters and mussels that I have ever had. The calamari and fish were perfectly cooked. The lobster is fresh and very tasty! The atmosphere and view are just indescribable. We were also very happy that they had the bulmers cider to just top off the perfect lunch. Must do if in the area!
Diana N — Google review
Had the fish and chips and the lobster roll. The fish and chips were greasy and slightly over fried. They used Spanish mackerel, which is already an oily fish in their fish and chips, so it gave a greasy aftertaste. On the bright side, the lobster roll had generous amounts of lobster. It was sweet and tasted fresh. It was value for money in my opinion. They were also awfully generous with their chips.
Larence C — Google review
Given the price point and that we were by the sea, I’d have expected the seafood to be fresher…. Oysters were really mid and I didn’t feel the sense of enjoyment from slurping it. It was rather fishy. Lobster filling was relatively generous. Chowder was my favourite.
Valerie L — Google review
The seafood platter that was upgraded by $30 so we had 2 halves of a lobster cost $166 but it was well worth it. Fresh, excellent condiments, great non greasy deep fried and sour octopus all went well together. Accompanied by a bottle of good white wine and looking out onto the ocean makes this a beautiful experience. I didn’t know I needed this in my bucket list!😀
Ewing H — Google review
Fish and chips were really greasy and the chips were limp and soggy and cold. Lobster in the lobster roll was generous but dry which is such a shame. Ham and cheese toaster was absolutely soaking in butter. It was dripping in oil and so salty. Omg. It was inedible to me. We went at about 2pm and the food took about 45 minutes to arrive. It is a nice place for a meal with the patio overlooking the ocean which was beautiful and the saving grace. But the food really isn't for me.
X L — Google review
So, this was my second visit to Lobster Shack. I was much surprised to see all add on verandahs full of happy guests . I only dropped one star as there was no one to meet and greet and offer a table and all serving staff were concerned to main tasks : to run the food and take away the dirty plates . I have worked in hospitality in 3 different countries and continents and was an assistant manager and acting manager of a bit smaller venue. I do know all challenges of running such a busy venue but I still believe an extra staff , a supper visor is needed at the gates to meet , greet , offer a table and explain how things work . To be honest for an average European tourist who can afford to get to Cervantes and pay 200 Aud for a quick meal, it is a very complicated : we are used for table service, when a hostess meets us , checkes whether we have a booking or not , offers a table if available, offers some drinks, introduces the waiter and so on and so forth . I had to walk to the till to find out the price of Lobster and what sizes are available ,no any visuals of the served items and how they are served just in gramms. How can I know how big or small is a half of mid size Lobster that weights about 300 grams ? Also , if any manager or owner reads this : please offer half size of your crowded soup . Full portion is way too much . I would prefer to pay abit less and than order something else. By the way my close friends who visited me in Perth and I were amazed how generous was the octopus salad portion !
Vardan V — Google review
Great Fish n Chips.. even better Lobster! Came here with the tour, and we got Fish n Chips for our lunch package. With an option to upgrade to lobster lunch for additional AUD25. We ordered two meals of these, and it didn’t disappoint! The lobster tastes so fresh, juicy and delicious. The place is being renovated at the moment we visited, so it looks a bit shabby on the inside, but after it’s completed I guess it will be a great open space with ocean view. Great lunch!
Ibnu ( — Google review
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. We ordered the seafood platers, everything was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and each dish was bursting with flavor. The lobster was tender and buttery, the fish taco were melt-in-your-mouth soft, and had just the right balance of spice. If you're a seafood lover, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!

RAC Cervantes Holiday Park is a beachfront retreat offering a variety of accommodation options, from one to three-bedroom villas to powered and unpowered sites. The park features modern amenities such as a well-equipped camp kitchen, pool, recreation facilities, ablution blocks, and a playground. Seashells Cafe provides all-day dining with stunning views of Ronsard Bay's foreshore.
This caravan park is very nice with the beach almost on its doorstep. It has good clean amenities, a fabulous camp kitchen and dining area, a heated swimming pool, small children’s playground, onsite cafe that you can eat in or take out. Serves a great cooked breakfast and good coffee.

Great park, lovely staff. We got put at the far end of the park away from all amenities also next to the only other non-powered guest. The whole campsite was free and we got put together. Lovely heated pool, clean and nice facilities.

I loved tent camping at RAC Cervantes. Very well organized. It is safe and friendly place. The facilities are very good such as a heated pool, kitchen, toilet, recreation room, playground,…great coffee shop nearby. Highly recommended.

An absolute gem of a holiday park. The location is superb, right on the coast with ocean views. Very good, clean and modern amenities and a very large, heated swimming pool. Also great playgrounds within and just outside the park so perfect for kids. As if the park itself wasn’t enough, the staff here are fantastic. Super friendly and very helpful, they made us feel so welcome and we had the best stay. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!
TheSaltMachine — Google review
The campground is basically fine. It just got very crowded over the weekend, which unfortunately affected the cleanliness of the showers. The kitchen was barely equipped—no pans or basic utensils—so we had to bring everything ourselves. It’s also quite windy there, but that seems to be normal for the area. Overall, the place is absolutely okay but not extraordinary.
Andrea — Google review
We stayed for two nights at RAC Cervantes and wanted to share our experience — both the positive and the areas we felt could be improved. Firstly, we truly appreciate the kindness and support from the team on our first night. The weather was extremely cold and rainy, and allowing us to sleep in the game room made a big difference for us. That gesture was thoughtful and helped us feel safe and cared for. However, we were quite disappointed with how things were handled the following day. As we were trying to decide whether to stay for our second night or head home, we felt pressured and pushed to leave the campground. That experience was frustrating and upsetting, especially considering we had paid for two nights and were still within our booking rights. We also noticed inconsistencies regarding the campground's pet-friendly policy. While we respect the rules about no pets in the kitchen, there was no signage indicating pets were not allowed in the game room. Being asked to take our dog out without prior notice or clear signage added to our frustration. Overall, while we value the welcoming support we received during our first night, we believe all guests should be given equal opportunity to enjoy the facilities without feeling rushed or excluded. Clearer communication and consistent pet policies would greatly improve the experience for future visitors. Thank you for taking the time to consider our feedback. Warm regards,
Mahsa S — Google review
With no competition you might expect this holiday park to be a little bit lax looking after its guests, but I have nothing but praise. My wife and I are motorhome travellers and from check in to checkout 5 nights later it was great. Location is great, beach access, walking tracks, attractions, food and drinks choices close by, and even a cafe on site. Shame the pool wasn’t heated, very inviting area to relax by. Quiet and safe and good amenities.

Great park. Great staff. Everything looked recently built, pool and kitchen and lounge room and amenities. Dump point. Close to beach. Shops and Tavern just around the corner.

Supermarket
Jurien IGA is a popular spot among locals and travelers alike. It offers an impressive range of products, from fresh produce to gourmet food and dishes. The store is well-organized and provides a pleasant shopping experience. Visitors are pleasantly surprised by the variety of fresh and hot food available, including hot toasties, paninis, croissants, rolls, and hot coffee.
Numerous interactions with a few staff members. All were very friendly and helpful! I was also blown away by the range of food offered in this IGA! Impressive variety of fresh and packed goods!
Olia — Google review
For the only major supermarket in Jurien bay they should be ashamed. It's extremely expensive and you can't blame location with the volume of customers. Compared to other local community supermarkets its a rip off!!! Not only that they don't take AMEX..!! Everywhere takes Amex these days, especially as most place now charge you surcharge anyway. I sense this place is not Australian owned. I won't be back out of principle.
Mr S — Google review
Staff were friendly but that is the only thing that makes this place good. The store is quite expensive. We’ve bought some fruit yogurts yesterday that were best before that date. I think if we wouldn’t have bought them somebody else would’ve.
Senne V — Google review
Absolute rip off prices ..expect to pay double or triple regular prices.. $12 punnet strawberries $10 for blueberries. $25 kg red capsicum.. this independant IGA should be raked over the coals by the IGA brand. Many items unpriced.. I feel for the locals need fresh food, I’m sure they all head to Perth for their weekly shops..
Brett F — Google review
As IGA’s go this one had a vast range of products and not too badly priced either. One of the best I have shopped at tbh.
Lesley-Jane W — Google review
Barely 2hrs north of metro Perth and basic groceries are double-triple the price (even when discounted). My IGA bag says "Where the locals matter..." Yeah right. 👎 Even more expensive than the IGAs in Norseman, Southern Cross WA, Alice Springs, Broken Hill, Hopetoun, Ceduna, and Coober Pedy! You've out done yourselves.
Bonnie K — Google review
Great range of products. Quite expensive though only 220 km from Perth, expect to pay 1/4 more than usual prices. Hard to recommend for this reason.
Happy T — Google review
I was camping at Sandy Cape and popped into this IGA on 27/05 to get a few additional supplies. When we opened the dip, it tasted weird so checked the best before date and it said 15/05!! Disappointed to be sold such an expensive dip that is expired..

Skydive Jurien Bay offers an exhilarating skydiving experience over the stunning Coral Coast. The instructors prioritize safety and professionalism, ensuring a memorable adventure for thrill-seekers. With the opportunity to skydive from over 10,000 feet and land on a pristine beach before taking a refreshing swim in turquoise waters, it's an unforgettable experience. Visitors of all ages can enjoy this thrilling activity and appreciate the friendly staff who work seamlessly as a team to provide an exceptional experience.
The most legendary skydiving crew in Australia – hands down. Just finished the rest of my AFF course at Skydive Jurien Bay and honestly can’t speak highly enough of the crew. Every single instructor and staff member was a lord (or lordette) – full of support, no egos, just good humans who want to see you progress and froth it as much as they do. The stoke was real here and all the staff’s energy is contagious and made it way easier to shake off the nerves each day. They’ve created a space where you actually feel safe when you don’t nail a jump and spend the time to help you learn, and get better. Feedback was always clear, useful, and grounded – no weird sky-god complex, just solid crew and good humans who care. The biggest thanks to my instructors Brett, Shelby, Shane, Rainer and Tim who I was lucky enough to jump with- I’m so grateful to have shared those epic times in the sky with all of you! Thank you Matt (Kiwi) and Dylan for the knowledge, hop n pop and solo dispatches and to Tom for all the on ground wisdom and froth, keen to jump with you all next time when I’m back out west! Cheers Raven for helping to organise it all and slotting me in last minute! And to Terry- what a legend you are! Thanks for packing my chute each time, for all the smooth openings and for the best vibes after every jump. And the views were next level! From the moment the plane leaves the tarmac you’ll have views of turquoise water, islands and an untouched coastline burnt into your brain. If you’re thinking about doing your AFF, Tandem Skydive, or just fun jumping, this is 100% the place. Good vibes, epic instructors, unreal setting. Can’t wait to get back over there and jump with you all again soon!
Jordan B — Google review
Managed to talk my sister into jumping for her 50th birthday, as i did the same for my 50th. Decided to book a jump for myself as well (As support for my sister of course). We did the jump on the 12th July which was World Skydiving Day. With a winter special going, all 14,000ft jumps were boosted to 15,000ft and after a lot of delays due to rain we finally boarded the plane, the 2nd jump was even better than the 1st and my sister loved it as well.
Troy W — Google review
This is truly the most exhilarating and memorable experience with the most incredible skydive team all round. Thank you Skydive Jurien Bay. We celebrated our anniversary in style with the most wild ride on the way down and a smooth landing on the beach. I am terrified of heights and the tandem crew were so professional and I have to say, absolutely crazy. This is a must do. Dylan and Shane were amazing! I suggest to anyone to make a booking and experience this yourself.
Kylie P — Google review
Awesome company and the experienced crew made everyone feel comfortable. The weather ensured the beach landing and views were second to none.
Tien — Google review
Absolutely loved it! The whole team was incredibly nice. You have to be patient because there are always waiting times before you jump (but this is also stated on the website). I did a tandem jump with Pete and couldn't have asked for a better jumping-buddy. Incredibly professional and very nice. I signed up spontaneously, which worked out great (but it was Wednesday morning); it might be better to book in advance. 10/10 experience, I would always choose Skydive Jurien Bay again.

I am Skye the labrador travelling around Australia with mum and dad. I wanted to Skye-dive with my dad. We went to the class, it was like school. Learnt lots of stuff. We both got into the van and off we went. zoom zoom. All suited up ready to go and dad chickened out, so I did too. We went back to the caravan to tell mum about our adventure. Thankyou for the experience.

Sandpiper Tavern & Pizzeria in Jurien Bay, Western Australia, offers a modernized Hamptons-style dining experience with a picturesque view of the outdoors. It's a popular choice for family dinners and serves generous portions of various menu items. While the pork belly is described as fatty, the beef cheeks are recommended. The restaurant is known for its delicious pizzas and food made from fresh local ingredients, making it a great place to enjoy a satisfying meal with loved ones.
It’s a real gem of Jurien Bay! Nice ambience of the place, scrumptious food & good drinks, and staff was super friendly and welcoming. Local crayfish was absolutely fantastic! A very popular local haunt on the night we visited, we had cocktails, dinner, wine and enjoyed it all. Food was well prepared and copious. Staff were all very friendly and professional. Cost was very reasonable so this is a useful stop if visiting Jurien Bay. Particularly enjoyed the crocodile popper starter. Menu is very extensive and we saw many great looking plates of food going out to other tables.

“So good we came back twice in one day!” Only in town for the night and thought we’d try this restaurant after reading the great reviews – and it did not disappoint! We stopped in for lunch. My partner had the chicken parmy with the chilli option and said it was one of the top 3 he’s ever had in WA. I had the pumpkin & sage tortellini – the most delicious pasta I’ve tasted in a restaurant, with presentation that was just beautiful. We loved it so much we came back for dinner and once again, it was exceptional. The pork belly and lamb racks were cooked to perfection, served in generous portions that were totally worth the price. For a family of 4 (2 adult meals, 2 kids’ meals and drinks) the bill was $150 – incredible value for the quality and quantity. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. To the chefs – you can really tell you love your job, because it shows in every dish. Please never stop doing what you do – you are amazing. Thank you, we will be back!

We stayed in the Superior Cabins which are clean, modern and comfortable. Many amenities close by and the basics are within the site. It only misses with the lack of a rec room on site but so long as the weather is good the kids will keep amused with the bouncing pillow or a short walk to the beach, skate park and playground. We also noticed that the caravan sites are very good with astroturf layed in place of grass. Great family accomodation!
Paul H — Google review
I’ve booked 3 nights 7.5 weeks before arriving and asked for a grass area. We arrived today and were given fully large concrete slab. No grass. I’ve asked for a different site and was told the artificial grass sites are pre booked and not for camper vans. While I was in the reception a gentleman was upgraded to the area I’ve asked about and it was a camper van. She was super friendly with the gentleman, not so with me. I’ve cancelled the booking and asked for my money back. I was told 72 hours before arriving cancelled will get the money back. However we don’t get to know which spot we will have allocated to. You put good faith into your booking of the site when you book so far in advance. We have been coming to Jurien bay for many years visiting our friends in Jurien. We won’t be booking at this caravan site again. I give 0 star to the receptionist.

Helpful staff and spotless cabin — a great final stop Jurien Bay Tourist Park was our thirteenth and final stop on a campervan journey from Broome to Perth in July/August 2025. We originally planned to stay in Cervantes, but heavy rain caused a roof leak in our campervan. Since all cabins in Cervantes were fully booked, we called Jurien Bay Tourist Park — and the friendly staff gave us the last available cabin. Although our campervan adventure ended a bit abruptly, we really appreciated the clean and comfortable cabin for our final night before returning the van in Perth. A smooth and relaxing end to an unforgettable road trip!

I never do reviews but this one got to my nerves. The facilities of the camping are really terrible and old. The kitchen is outdoors full of flies. There are barely any tables to sit with shade. There is no pool.... and you pay exactly the same as other campings in this coast with facilities 10 times better. I do not recommend it to camp. At least staff is friendly.

Breakfast at Meraki was a delight! Their buttermilk pancakes were so filling and delicious. Other orders included egg on toast, burger and more. The drinks were elevated by art and the staff was efficient. Excellent time spent with heating and big bathrooms!

Stopped in for breakfast after staying in Jurien Bay Caravan Park. Great location with friendly staff and tasty food. The coffee and smoothie were delicious topped off with the chorizo scramble. A must when in Jurien Bay!

I had daily breakfast here usually breakie wrap accompanied with a cup of hot flat white. The hash brown in it made all the difference 😋 Once ordered the all days breakfast as show in the pics. The portion was big and well prepared. Also had cabonara once for lunch. A very comfortable place for breakfast and lunch. The staffs were friendly and professional. Will definitely dine there again if ever am back to Jurien Bay.

Smash Avo and Buttermilk Pancakes with berries were good. Unfortunately Eggs on Toast a letdown as both bacon and eggs were cooked almost burnt and this item supposedly “kid’s meal”. Scrambled eggs turned out more like omelette instead.

Good coffee and good cheese toastie, the toastie could go a tad less on the butter but overall good tasting food and coffee. Everyone’s service was amazing except for one person she put salt and pepper on my table by banging it. She scared me

These guys don't need the reviews. There's not a lot of bakeries in Jurien. But they are that good, I thought I should give them one anyway. Absolutely delicious. Great (HOT!) coffee. Amazing bakery goods. Huge range of sandwiches, pies and hot food too. Convenient location with the servo next door it's a great pit stop for your road trip.

Jurien Bay Jetty is a popular spot located in the town center, offering great opportunities for fishing and enjoying picturesque views. The Turquoise Way Trail, a 14.2-kilometer scenic track, provides an immersive experience of Jurien Bay's natural beauty with coastal vistas and various points of interest along the way. The trail offers accessibility at multiple points and passes through Dobbyn Park foreshore area, featuring picnic facilities and playgrounds.
A great little jetty with a swimming bay beside it. The park that leads to the jetty has an awesome "pirate ship" playground, as well as the Jurien Bay Cafe.

We had an encounter with a wild dolphin this morning 18/5/25 was so beautiful to sit peacefully & watch her catching fish jumping in & out of the water she was definitely in her element.
Jodey — Google review
The Australian coastline is so beautiful everywhere you go. Here at Jurien Bay, the walk along the jetty and coastal pathway is definitely worth the stop here. On a warm day. I'd definitely swim here. There are lots of people here, but lots of free parking. There is a cafe here too
Raelene G — Google review
Can get windy. Lots of seaweed on the beach. Nothing to see here. Perhaps better in Summer. Jetty has a water bubbler and bin.

Cool view of the sea! You can hear the waves crashing under it and see them on the shore… looks so calming and relaxing.

The Jurien Bay Jetty is a lovely, relaxing place to visit—beautifully situated over clear turquoise water, with good amenities like picnic tables, playgrounds, BBQs and nearby cafés, making it very family-friendly. It’s great for fishing, swimming, and enjoying marine life around the jetty, which adds interest beyond just scenery. The jetty offers peaceful walks and photo spots; at sunset its views are particularly charming, with sky colours reflected in the water and open western views over the ocean. It’s not huge or overly dramatic, but it nails being a calm, pleasant, scenic spot
Sudheera S — Google review
The water here is an unbelievable turquoise. The sand is pristine white. The jetty is a bonus. A place to chill out, fish or just dive into that turquoise abyss. The sun is hot so take advantage of the day. A magic spot.

Jurien Bay Beach Cafe is a charming spot located in an ideal setting, offering picturesque views of the ocean just a short distance from Jurien Bay Jetty. The cafe's amiable staff provides reasonably priced breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It's highly recommended to opt for an outdoor table where you can relish fresh prawns and cocktails while witnessing the breathtaking sunset over the ocean - an experience that truly cannot be matched!
Great holiday vibe overlooking the beach. We only stopped in for a sunset beer and a coffee in the morning, but really loved the vibe of this place. Perfect location opposite the jetty, right on the beachfront with sunset views. It was the end of the school hols and long weekend, so it was busy but lots of great energy by the beach.

Right on the beach, bright, light, breezy! Excellent food and service. Fun get together. No doubt would be packed on season, but we'd had no trouble getting a table for brunch and late morning tea, though we booked for Wednesday's steak night Friendly service and banter.

The food is nice Oysters and lobster are fresh Fries are tasty Some problem with their hand tag system because we ordered food but wanted to get a beer later The staff asked about the paper bracelet but we were never told
Wanson L — Google review
Appalling service and terrible food. I waited 1.5 hours and after 3 tables arrived after us and served before us for a kids fish and chips, a kids nuggets and chips and a seafood basket. Once I complained, twice they deep fired the food and served us it. It was all burnt to a crisp and disgusting. So much potential very poor execution. Never again.

Fantastic cafe, quick service. Visited pre and post trip. Portion sizes huge, really good chips. Loved all our meals, fish and chips, halloumi burger sbd chicken burger. Highly recommend

Wonderful spot overlooking the beach. Open all day. The full local lobster at $75 was good value and cooked well with some garlic butter. Wonderful wine list by the glass. Loved the Forest Hill Chardonnay with the lobster.

Amazing service, friendly staff. We ordered whole crayfish chips & salad, 1/2 dz baked oysters. Food smells so good when served that we immediately “tuck in” n forget to take pics 😅 with the beer & wine = delicious + satisfying. After, take a walk at the beach nearby…so beautiful. Visited in late July, now back home country, looking back at photos taken, decided to ‘pen’ a few words as this place is worth recommending.

We recently stopped by Bay Bakery Cafe and picked up a couple of meat pies that were enjoyed down by the Jetty during a rest break in Jurien Bay. Pies were nicely fried, good fillings, hearty and tasted just what we expected. Made for a convenient, quick and affordable late morning stop, perfect for brief drive break at Jurien Bay.

Beef pepper pie - saucy and good but very little meat fillings inside. Pricey. Honey chicken fried rice - pricey and small portions. Flat white with oat milk - coffee taste a bit flat. Place was rather dirty, dustbin from yesterday dinner not cleared and filled to the brim. Food bits on the floor. Service staff were friendly and prompt in serving customers.
Itzmiuga — Google review
We bought some sausage rolls, the service and food quality are very disappointing. Food is cooked but far from tasty. The mince in the sausage rolls is just not edible in texture and taste. We gave up eating. The young lad who made coffee however is sympathetic and pleasant to talk with.

Absolutely Amazing Customer Service. Fast & Delicious Eggs Benny cooked perfectly. The Full English Breakfast beat my Husband. He loved it but couldn't finish it all. Coffee is delicious also. We would be back regularly if we didn't live 5 hours away.

I enjoyed my eggs Benedict (fresh muffins, eggs poached perfectly, and had both ham and spinach)....and my husband said his BLT was yum. Didn't have coffee so can't comment on that today. The cafe doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is neat and comfortable and the staff are friendly.

My eyes were bigger than my appetite 😂. The chips (medium size) were crunchy and had good amount if chicken salt, the spinach ricotta roll was solid and the vanilla thick shake was yum. The people were really nice 👍

Had a very good pepper steak pie here. In the higher price range but totally justified as it was a big pie and super tasty. Lots of pepper and pieces of steak. 👌

Great food, friendly service! This is my favourite place if I’m driving down North! The food is fresh and tasty , good portions and reasonably priced. Clean and family friendly restaurant. The milkshake is served very traditionally in a aluminium tumbler and tastes awesome. I would encourage anyone travelling even to grab a cup of coffee from this restaurant rather than getting a one from the servo near by just to help local business.

The Jurien Bay Oceanic Experience offers a variety of activities for marine enthusiasts. Fishing in the bay is a popular pastime, with an abundance of fish like dhufish, snapper, and tailor. The Marine Park Experience tour provides an opportunity to swim with playful sea lions and learn about the marine life from knowledgeable guides. Another option is the lobster tour, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful weather on deck and even spot whales while learning from friendly crew members.
A huge thank you to Sari, Katy, Connor, and Captain Pete for this unforgettable experience! We secretly hoped we’d get to interact with the sea lions.. and to our delight, that wish absolutely came true. We felt so lucky to have such a close and playful encounter. What an incredible morning!
Lennert T — Google review
Sari and Andrew did an amazing job!! They took good care of us the whole time, from land to boat and water. Started with a detailed briefing then a nice swim! They spotted sea lions for us and guided us through for approaching in a safe manner!! We enjoyed this trip a lot and highly recommend to everyone!!
WONG C — Google review
We had an amazing morning out with the crew from Jurien Bay Oceanic this morning, swimming with the sea lions. Both Katy & Sari were great guides in the water & very knowledgeable on the sea lions. A Cuppa & Tim Tam to warm up after our swim. The skipper (forgot name sorry) was also great. Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible experience with Andy, Sari and Kev this morning! They were knowledgeable, super friendly and made for such an enjoyable morning. The sea lions came right up close - couldn’t have wished for anything better! Lovely to have a hot choccie, Tim Tam and good chat after the swim too! Thank you so much Andy, Sari & Kev!
Olivia — Google review
Fantastic experience! I was on a tour this morning (early Oct) with Sari, Conor, Katy, and Luke. As soon as I walked through the door, they made me feel welcome and taken care of. Conor proved to be an expert at picking the right size of wetsuit and in no time at all we were all ready to go on the boat (masks, snorkels, and flippers also all provided). The group was small (10 people, sold out). Luke took us out calmly to Essex Rocks, about a 20 minute super calm boat trip away where we could clearly see dozens of sea lions on the beach. There were a couple of other boats already there, but we staggered out swim time so we got private time with the sea lions. Conor and Sari were fantastic in the water with everyone, including the kids, and the sea lions came right up to us and frolicked around each other doing loops and rolls and living their best life. We must have seen four or five different sea lions in the water at different times. They are super inquisitive and played happily around us. I took along an underwater camera and captured beautiful pictures due to clear clear water, plus Sari and Conor also had go-pros. The link to all footage is shared with the group afterwards. We had a 45 minute swim, most of it in close proximity to sea lions, before returning to the boat where we were treated to a hot shower and a hot drink. The crew also thoughtfully had water bottles for us. Katy treated us to a wealth of information about the sea lions which was fascinating. Then, it was a 20 minute calm trip back tk the harbour. We also saw dolphins in the way out and the way back! A huge thank-you to our crew for this experience - they were incredibly professional and clear about the boundaries of interacting with the sea lions as well as being super friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this as it was the stand-out highlight of the trip to Jurien Bay. Don't be put off by the early morning - this is when the sea lions are the most active, and the crew even had hot water bottles on board to keep us warm! The wetsuits kept us the perfect temperature in the water.
Hannah N — Google review
Unfortunately my daughter got too cold to stay in the water so we didn’t get to swim with the sea lions but we were lucky enough to have them come right up to the boat which was fantastic. The crew were helpful, offering hot drinks, hot showers and hot water bottles. I would recommend waiting until the sea lions come closer to the group until thinking of taking kids under 10 in the water. It was choppy and tough to swim and inevitably after ten minutes the kids get too cold!

🦭 Amazing Eco Sea Lion Experience! Such an incredible day out! Swimming with the sea lions was honestly unforgettable — they were so playful and curious. Huge shoutout to Luke, Jack, and Sari who made the whole experience fun, safe, and super eco-friendly. Loved how respectful they were with the animals and how much they cared about keeping everything natural. Couldn’t recommend it more! 💙🌊

Sandy Cape Recreation Park offers a unique coastal camping experience with beachfront tent pitches and stunning views just 15 minutes from Jurien Bay. The park features white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and breathtaking sunsets, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the ocean during the day and listening to the soothing sound of waves breaking on the shore at night. The campground provides basic amenities such as running water toilets, cold showers, and recycling facilities.
Not a bad spot need to pre book, beaches are great Toilets are clean, shower area in 1-2 spots, bore water to use The camp host wasn’t there the whole entire time were stayed here, arguably you can stay for free if spots are not taken or in the 4x4 areas Rangers drive up and down but don’t check your booking details
Modgod — Google review
Beautiful spot with lovely views of the dunes. 30 sec walk to the beach from my camping spot. The sites can fit tents, camper vans, and caravans. The beach is average (my opinion) from the camping ground access, alot of dry seaweed on the sand, the water also had a rip and got deep real quick, so had to keep an extra eye on the kids, there’s also 4x4 beach access. It has toilets and portable water tanks though the tanks were dry. The Ranger swings past in the morning and afternoon which is a buzz kill checking number plates to ensure bookings. I give it 4 stars as it’s not worth $25 a night, should be priced around $10 - $15 mark.

One of my favourite camping spots it never disappoints. A huge shout out to the new caretaker he is doing a fantastic job and has lots of fresh ideas.

Although it is an awesome place for off grid camping and caravan's. The amenities are not maintained or cleaned in a professional manner. There is an onsite caretaker but never seen.
Colin P — Google review
A great spot for sunsets, fishing and paddling in the shallows. We booked a main campground site and unfortunately this was also on a main road. The speed limit throughout is 8 km per hour but people were driving like it was a normal sealed road, covering us in dust and making it highly unsafe for the kids here (school holidays mind you). We went for a drive in the ‘4x4 only section’ and quickly changed our booking to here. We have an almost 10m van and got in to the north area here no worries. Way better value and right on the beach :) Rangers and camp hosts seemed friendly. Dog friendly, dump point and bins too. A lot of seaweed covering most parts of the beaches here atm

Murray St. Grill is a highly recommended dining place in Cervantes and Jurien Bay, offering delicious dishes like pork belly, steak, lamb cutlet, burgers, and seafood chowder. The food is described as amazing with friendly and professional service from the staff. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the sea breeze during lunchtime for a delightful experience.
This was the best & the most delicious dining place we’ve discovered during our time in Cervantes & Jurien Bay. Pork belly could do with more crispy skin but overall was delicious in flavour. Steak was absolutely divine and cooked to perfection on medium rare. Lamb cutlet was beautiful in flavour, although it was quite pricey... only 3 little cutlets on bones. Service and staff were all fantastic and friendlt. Highly recommended when you are down in Cervantes or Jurien Bay!

The service at Jurien Bay was knowledgeable, friendly and experienced. The staff were happy to give honest advice. The burger was nice though it was oily and quite dense. The garlic prawns were lovely, though a a bit undercooked though it could depend on your taste. We only had the potato chips and they were delicious and crunchy.

Lots of parking, sealed path to lookout; 300 m unsesled road to car park. Drive slowly. Thank you to Mike at Jurien Bay Visitor Center for the suggestion!

Very educational and beautiful lookout explaining you some features you might have been seeing around during your roadtrip but weren't able to pinpoint what it was exactly. Like salt lakes, gypsum mining, and dynamic dunes. All is explained on information boards at this lookout!

It’s a really interesting spot with great views of the surrounding area. The Grigson farm specialised in breeding horses, many of which were used for the WW1 war effort. The Grigson farm was one of the few farms that had no poisonous plants on the property allowing them to breed the horses without losing them to poisoning. The lookout itself is a 5 min walk from the car park and has a nicely maintained lookout area. There is also what is presumably the original “trig”(triangulation) point still there.

Amazing view of the Jurien region from the salt pans to the sea. Plaques explain the history of the region and different plant species etc. Didn’t realise 10% of Western Australia’s native plant species was located in this area. Well worth a stop off if travelling past.

A really pleasant atmosphere, well decorated and comfortable. There’s some couches as well as picnic tables and benches. A great choice of their own beer, plus cider and ginger beer. We had the chicken wings which were beautifully seasoned and a generous serve. Well worth a visit!

In Jurien Bay, during the winter season when seal tours are unavailable, there may not be much to do. However, one attraction that photography enthusiasts might find interesting is the Old Jetty Heritage Memorial Site. This ancient and charming jetty offers great opportunities for capturing unique photographs, especially those involving long exposure techniques. Jurien Seafoods

Fish & chips restaurant
When you find yourself in Jurien Bay, a visit to Jurien Seafoods is an absolute must for any seafood lover. This charming takeaway shop specializes in serving up some of the freshest and most flavorful fish and chips around. With a menu that boasts not only classic fish and chip packs but also tantalizing burgers, squid rings, and beloved takeaway favorites like chiko rolls and pineapple fritters, there's something for everyone.
The staff here are very hospitable, they welcome you with a wave and hello. HIGHLY recommend the mango salsa, the pawpaw salad and tartare all made in house. Micheal, Corey and Gary do a great job to serve you exactly what you need. Don’t be afraid to ask how you prefer your food to be cooked they listen! For example I like crispy chips, love that little golden one you get and the whole family fights over it. Made lettuce tacos using the mango salsa and I’m considering having it for breakfast! 😂 Please if you’re in Jurien swing past, it’s next to the chemist.

I stopped by for a seafood basket and added extra squid and prawn cutlets — everything was fresh, crispy, and absolutely delicious. What really stood out was their homemade mango and chilli salsa — sweet, tangy, with just the right kick! I loved it so much I bought a small tub to take back home to Perth. Friendly service and great value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

After a long drive we were keen for some good fish & chips for us and the kiddies. Apparently the best in Jurien Bay but we’d have to disagree. The fish was incredibly oily and batter just fell right off, chips were dry and some burnt and wrinkly (who packs this up and thinks yep delish??) calamari wasn’t beer battered seems like the store bought crumb ones? Also different price to what’s on their takeaway menus. Pretty disappointing and annoyed we spent $60 on something below average. Wouldn’t recommend:/

Good fish and chips for 19$. I liked it! The portions was very generous
Carola G — Google review
Was hoping it was going to be UK style of fish n chips as the owners were British, But atlas was the Aussie type as in the batter nothing crunchy or crispy about it. Chips were terrible flavour and texture., however the fish it self was beautiful and the flavour was amazing just the batter let it down. Was disappointed with $19 for really, a kids portion.

Went to the Jurien Seafoods fish and Chip shop, ordered 3 serves of pink snapper, 12 prawns, 12 squid rings, 1 pineapple fritter and $12 chips. Came to $150 still scratching my head as to how!! Got literally 3 medium size bits of fish, the batter was thin and not very crunchy although the Fish itself was delicious. The prawns were small, the squid was ok, the chips average, pineapple fritter was average. This was to feed 3 adults and 2 teenagers, we thought we would have over ordered but it turned out it was barely enough. Spewin !!!

The Oneh Jurien is a charming restaurant in Jurien Bay that offers a diverse range of Asian cuisine, featuring Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese delicacies. If you're ready for a delicious alternative to fish and chips like I was, this restaurant may be your answer. My Vietnamese fried chicken was wonderful; the homemade sweet chili sauce was a great accompaniment. The Vietnamese beef curry lit up my taste buds beautifully. Thank you for the extra bowl of rice! Friendly service and good prices. It's definitely a restaurant to return to.

Absolutely delicious! My son and I always take corner seats so we can hear each other being hearing impaired. It was very comfortable, we were asked if we would like the blinds open for fresh air, everything came on time in large servings! I think I found our new favourite monthly favourite!

Located a small walk away from the main strip at Jurien Bay, here you'll find an Asian restaurant which serves a variety of dishes (mainly Vietnamese). Our picks would be the spicy Beef Noodle soup, had a lot of flavour and lemongrass in it. The Pork Chop (Com Tam) was a bit of a disappointment. Everything else was ok. Def worthy of a try if you want something different other than pub food!

What a great service! We went in to book a table and half an hour later we were welcomed by a dedicated table setting for four adults, a 2-year old and a 6-months old. The service was fantastic and the food was simply great! No wonder that this restaurant has the highest ratings in Jurien Bay; we can't recommend it enough!

We ordered take away because it was busy... I thought they were closing but we were still served.. the place inside looks nice and it was confusing to order as they had 2 different menus... I ordered the beef dish (comes with rice and bit of salad) which was $29 and my partner ordered salt n pepper fried chicken $17 so altogether I paid $46. Both dishes were delicious and we enjoyed it but the portion size...I don't think it was enough like it looks abit disappointing if you see the photos I took..what do you think? maybe they ran out of the food after a busy lunch or it's because we ordered take away? Not sure but I wouldn't go back to pay so much for that portion size..Sorry😓

We walked in and was welcomed by the owner who had a big smile on her face and was incredibly welcoming and sweet, she was so passionate about the menu and recommended some dishes that turned out to be amazing; those special The spicy noodle soup, vietnamese chicken fried and chicken honey were all excellent and I’m coming back again asap! So glad I found this place 🥰

Lake Thetis Stromatolites

4.1
(268)
Just a 20-minute drive from Jurien Bay to Cervantes, Lake Thetis Stromatolites offers an intriguing glimpse into early life forms. While not as grand as those in Shark Bay, these thrombolites are still worth a visit. The lake is located just outside of Cervantes and can be easily accessed from the main road with ample parking available.
The key reason I stopped at this location was to learn (and see) about stromatolites. Another great example of a well thought out Australia park destination. Sealed car park, picnic tables, 1.5 km easy walk around lake with part of the walk sealed or on a raised walkway. Be aware that on the walk around lake, vegetation obstructs your view for about half of the walk. On the plus side, you're likely to see at least two kangaroos, birds, and perhaps a lizard sunning itself like I did.
David V — Google review
Excellent infrastructure here makes viewing the stromatolites, and a walk around the lake, comfortable and enjoyable for all. During the 'wet season', the stromatolites are likely to be submerged, as was the case for us in July. Regardless, sadly, most of the stromatolites appear to have been damaged, though still impressive. Please keep to the paths and respect this beautiful spot.
Aaron T — Google review
Despite the recent heavy rain creating turbid water in the lake and obscuring the Stromatolites I found plenty to see. The walk was nice with flowers and birds a plenty. The information displays gave a good overview on what and how the stromatolites formed and you could see some shapes in the water near the platforms.
Athfos — Google review
Very cool learning more about a 600 million year old organism. It isn't exciting it is cool to see history and view Stromatolites as there are so few places in the world one can see them.
Sal S — Google review
I am fascinated by oddities in the natural world, such as the Pinnacles just south of Cervantes and the Pink Lake a few hours north, so a stop at Lake Thetis was a must. We had already visited Lake Clifton south of Perth and had been utterly gobsmacked by the thrombolites there, cousins to the stromatolites found here. (Both are extremely ancient limestone formations created by microorganisms living in water rich in calcium carbonate. Thrombolites look like cauliflower, while stromatolites are flatter, though many look miniature volcanic craters.) A path from the parking lot leads shortly to a boardwalk culminating in a broad observation platform. From here you can see the stromatolites both on the shore above the water's edge and those partially or fully submerged. They stretch up and down this side of the lake. We visited twice -- once on the way north to the Ningaloo Reef, the other coming back south after heavy rains about ten days later. The first time, we were just a touch disappointed by the setting, because the lake was low and not as striking as the much larger and deeper Lake Clifton. We got over ourselves and focused instead on the stromatolites, and they were truly extraordinary. The second time, the water level was much higher, and with a storm approaching, we had the place to ourselves. This time it was awesome. Short on time, you can drive in from the highway, park, go see the formations, and get back on the highway in about 30 minutes. If you have the time and inclination, you can continue past the boardwalk to stroll the 1.5 km loop around the lake. We did a bit of this, enjoying the aquatic birds that inhabit the less-peopled part of the shore, particularly sandpipers and black swans. On the second visit, we found a shed snakeskin lying on top of the boardwalk. Cool! Do please stay on the boardwalk and trail. Stromatolites and thrombolites are fragile. They take eons and eons to grow, and they still contain living beings. It can be windy, so hang on to your caps and anything else you could drop, since trying to retrieve them would hurt emerging and existing stromatolites. There are hardly any left in the world, and this is one of the few remaining homes for them. Please protect them. Don't be one of those people, please.
Marsha R — Google review
Nice park with trail around the lake and picnic tables. Othet than stomatolites. You can see wildlife, including many birds at the lake.

It is a good thing to go and watch once, well preserved place, good walk way and information. This is different from thrombolytes in south side of Mandura.

Geologic Formations
Lake Thetis, situated near Cervantes off Hansen Bay Road, is a remarkable saline lake renowned for its living thrombolites. These rock-like structures are considered "living fossils" and are estimated to be around 3,000 years old. The lake's isolation from the sea about 4,800 years ago led to the formation of these unique formations by microorganisms.
It’s beautiful! So tranquil! There’s benches and tables for eating and be sit by the water. There’s a nice gentle path that’s all paved from the parking all the way around to the side of the lake . Great for wheelchairs or walkers - or prams. If you walk really quietly from the car park, the birds may even be by the side of the lake. We can see them better. If you’re noisy, you better get your camera out before you get down there because they’ll be flying out to the middle of the lake!
Jacqueline K — Google review
Came here to check out the stromatolites and the wildlife. Stromatolites here looked Abit different from those at Mandurah, but good that they have write-ups explaining how these things formed millions of years ago. Plus, more information about the formation of this unique saline lake, and the wildlife you can expect to see here. Round lake walk takes approximately 30 minutes. Boardwalk + trail.
YJ — Google review
As a marine biologist it's my live long dream to see stromatolites. And finally after years and years of waiting and planning. I got to feast them with my eyes. They are awesome. We owe our entire existence to them. (Sort of... Hehe) It's so awe inspiring to see this prehistoric beings that existed with the very beginning of "life" on earth. But behold... They look smaller than I imagine... But still a good experience. Good facilities as well. But this place should be guarded 24/7 to preserve it. Heheheh
Tan Y — Google review
Not everyone's cup of tea. Geology enthusiasts will find this place exciting. The lake with the stromatolite deposits is unique.

A beautiful place to enjoy walk surrounding the river. Great little walk to the river front about 300m kids will love this walk. Don’t miss to locate the purple colour on lake and match with the description. Plentiful parking area.
Nelufar Y — Google review
If you can appreciate the visible evolution and the beauty of nature then you will enjoy this place. If you don't, then I would expect you to be bored and this attraction is more about the history of the stromatolites than anything else. It is quite a lovely spot and an easy walking trail that won't take you longer than an hour. We went around mid-January and were the only ones there during our time. There is a boardwalk that leads to an information section in case you don't want to walk through the bush. You are not able to swim in this lake which is mentioned by the signs due to the fragile nature of the stromatolites. Easy enough to find, only 5 minute detour from highway and ample sealed parking available.
Jasmin F — Google review
Stromatolites and their close cousins, thrombolites are living fossils that have been producing oxygen for about 3.5 billion years. This means that when you’re looking at these rock-like structures you’re essentially stepping back in time and seeing at how life was billions of years ago. The is what you came here to look for
Allan C — Google review
Great place to visit. It's a nice walk around the lake. It's a shame the so many stromatolites have been damaged by people. Good for checking out the wild life too

Thirsty Point lookout is located at the end of the main road into Cervantes, between Ronsard Bay and Hansen Bay. It offers panoramic views of the area from an elevated boardwalk and platform. The region is known for its stunning beaches, although it can be very windy. Many visitors come to enjoy the beautiful beach and catch the sunset, with some opting to sit in the sand or stay in their cars due to a lack of benches.
Drive right up to the beach for a peaceful lookout. Great to watch the sunset.

Still the same and beautiful, peaceful and full of joy. Couldn't see the sunset this time but enjoyed the I AM ALONE situation 😂 The panoramic views are simply stunning. We visited in a weekday evening and there were already a few cars parked there when we arrived. There are no benches for people to sit so many people just sat in the sand or stayed in their cars.

Mike found us four waiting at the door at 9am, eager for extra 'insider' tips on spotting wildflowers. He was an absolute goldmine of information, and so practical and helpful. He gave us maps and drew on them tiny areas no one would have known about, in Lesueuer NP, The Pinnacles as well as our drive to Perth! Thank you Mike. :) It was so much fun following "Mike's maps" We found so many varieties of orchids, cats paws and other beautiful flowers. We even found the black kangaroo paws, though not flowering just yet. On our way to Perth today, my friend found this magnificent orchid at Tuart's Reserve. You're a legend.

Some of the best camping close to the ocean. Windy in the afternoons. great spot in Winter as well. Remember to take out what you bring in and keep it clean!

Quite windy when we arrived, also windy whilst there, the only downfall staying there were the feral bees looking for water ,they were very determined to get what they wanted. Tried leaving water but emptied water containers in 2 hours. Would be scary for young children if not used to bees

A big open space for travellers with car or caravan. Well displayed signs and information for day use area and campsite. Dump point was provided there. Beware of Long Weekend or school holiday that is very busy for camping. The campsites are first come best dressed with caretaker there.

Its lovey spot to do nothing unwind and relax. It is classed as off road, however most types of caravans would be OK. You will need your own power & water. Best check out the website for more info.

Sandy Cape is a very beautiful beach/camping area. Camping is first come first in bassis, can get very busy. The new toilet and showers are good. Pic your spot and the camp host will be around to collect the fees.
