Kalbarri Skywalk

4.8
(2540)
The Kalbarri Skywalk is a thrilling attraction in the National Park, offering breathtaking views of the Murchison River Gorge from 100 meters above. The newly built platforms extend out over the cliffs, providing an exhilarating experience for visitors. Surrounding the skywalk are Aboriginal artworks created by local indigenous people. With two different platforms, visitors can enjoy incredible scenery without having to navigate stairs or uneven surfaces from the car park.
Now this place is Amazing 👏 Could not believe, the effort that all involved have put into this project from the building and construction to the tiny little creatures and animals dotted throughout the area to aboriginal Cultural significance and the lovely little cafe packed full.of good foods and souvenirs.. Was a great day going out there to walk the many trails 👣 spotting wild flowers to wildlife.. Loved it

I loved how this piece architecture is completely at home and makes a bold statement at the same time. Needless to say the vistas are superb. National park access is charged per car, also don’t forget to bring a fly net.
Athfos — Google review
The Kalbarri skywalk is a great addition to the area of Kalbarri and the gorges. There are two large platforms extending out into the gorge which offer a great opportunity for photos videos or just admiring the view, there is also a cafe on site which gives you the option to buy some food and coffee. I came here on a morning where it was raining and I had the whole place to myself so I can't really complain because it was a good private experience with awesome views. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
Definitely a bucket list experience. The experience was quite alot like getting to look over the Grand Canyon. The skywalk is only about 5 yrs old, opened in 2020. The architecture is very well kept and looked after. We enjoyed a talk with a local ranger. There are small artworks scattered throughout giving a good picture of what animals may have been there throughout time. The experience of walking out unto the skywalk is exhilarating and a bit foreboding if you are not akin to heights. There plenty of restrooms of the drop toilet kind. There is also a café if you come earlier. Be sure to dress appropriately as it is very windy and common to lose your hat.
Hartsy74 — Google review
Breathtaking views. Come in winter. It’s chilly but not crowded. Be sure to key in the correct GPS location too. There are a few ones with the same names and we got to the wrong one. Nearly didn’t make this trip to see the sunset.
ExDee — Google review
Stunning cliffs, endless views, and a personal swarm of flies that clearly skipped breakfast. You walk out expecting awe and serenity, and instead you’re starring in “Attack of the Tiny Winged Demons.” The view itself? Absolutely jaw-dropping. Red rocks, deep gorges, and that vast outback stretching forever. You’d love to stand there and soak it in—but the flies are busy trying to colonize your nostrils. It’s beautiful and infuriating in equal measure. Bring a fly net or prepare to wave your arms like a deranged orchestra conductor. Rating: 4/5. One point lost because I prefer my sightseeing without an insect buffet on my face.
Wade W — Google review
The landscape and unique terrain are exceptional. I love how the skywalk was built to blend in with the surrounding terrain. One of the best spots in WA.
Minh L — Google review
Two modern viewing platforms high above gorge of Murchison River. Cafe, public toilets, signage. Pristine national park, which is best viewed in the spring wildflower season.

Nature's Window

4.8
(2276)
Hiking area
Nestled within Kalbarri National Park, Nature's Window is a renowned natural wonder that offers breathtaking views of the Murchison River Gorge. This iconic wind-eroded opening in a sandstone wall provides visitors with an opportunity to capture stunning photographs and immerse themselves in the park's scenic beauty. The 8-km Loop Trail starting and ending at Nature's Window allows for an unforgettable gorge adventure, showcasing the picturesque landscape surrounding this unique rock formation.
Nature’s Window and the Kalbarri Skywalk were definitely highlights of my trip. The walk to Nature’s Window was short and easy, and the view through the rock arch looking out over the gorge was just stunning — it’s such a perfect photo spot. After that, I headed to the Skywalk, and honestly, the views from those platforms were incredible. Standing out over the edge of the gorge felt a bit surreal, like floating above the landscape. The whole area is so beautiful and peaceful. If you’re visiting Kalbarri, don’t miss this spot!
Titian R — Google review
Don't stop walking.... About 150m down from Nature's Window is an equally beautiful spot on the cliffs edge to take 'that photo'... Actually there are 2 angles in which you won't regret walking the extra 150m. The Loop Trail which is 8km (and a few 'suck my belly in' type of moments) is an absolutely beautiful trail walk from Natures Window around the cliffs edge down along the river bank with the odd view back up the valley to the Skywalk.
Aeron H — Google review
Far more beautiful in real life. Natures window is a star but the real gem is the Loop Walk. It took us 4 hours and 40 minutes with lots of picture stops and rest stops and snack / water stops. The hardest parts were the short squeeze up the rocks next to the river and the soft sand in the last quarter, otherwise not to bad for average fitness 60 year olds, I would not do the Loop Walk if you find it hot at the start, it will get worse. Don’t forget your fly net.
Athfos — Google review
Great day out on The Loop walk, showing that there’s some more to this place than Nature’s Window. The 20 perso. queue was amusing to observe. Walk another 10 minutes the views are just as good, you will get closer to nature and you won’t waste your time in the queue. Leave nothing but footprints on the path though!
Simon M — Google review
Nature's window in Kalbarri is one of the main attractions to do in the national park, because of this it suffers from overcrowding. Although the views are nice in theory, you rarely ever get them to yourself even as early as sunrise there is a constant stream of people which makes the experience feel less private and overall a little bit too oversaturated. It is 100% still worth visiting and I would recommend everyone goes to have a look because you never know you might get lucky and you might get it to yourself one day. This is also the starting point of the walk called the loop which is 9 km loop around starting and ending near nature's window. The area around nature's window also offers other great opportunities to admire the geology and landscape. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
A wonderful natural rock formation surrounded by a huge national park. Tricky underfoot in some areas and a quire few steep steps down which may be difficult for some people with mobility issues. Go early if visiting as it gets very busy and not everyone is sensible about photo opportunities.
Cumbrian L — Google review
We were there ten years ago without the children, and there was no one else there. Now there's a paved road and an easy walk, so anyone can get there. Beautiful scenery.
Peter T — Google review
There's more to Kalbarri than the Skywalk and Z bend and Nature's Window... These 3 points are within few minutes drive from each other, so you can cover in one afternoon. But it's being there to take in the vastness and adorn the structural rock formations that's awesome.

Sights & Landmarks
Lookouts
Z Bend is a stunning feature in the Murchison River Gorge, characterized by its sharp turn and flowing water at the base of large cliffs. The area offers picturesque views with orange-red cliffs contrasting against dark green foliage. A 600-meter track leads to the Z Bend lookout, providing some of the best views in Kalbarri National Park with minimal walking effort. Visitors can enjoy picnic tables and BBQ grills at this scenic spot.
Z-bend is a stunning part of the Kalbarri gorge. You can admire the view from the lookout, just a short walk from the car park, or hike down into the gorge for a closer look. If you’re feeling extra-adventurous, you can even hike all the way around to Fourways then come back to the car park that way. Bring plenty of water as there is no drinkable water available here.
Jeff R — Google review
Amazing trail — absolutely loved it! The whole walk was heaps of fun with all the ups and downs, ladders, and rocks to climb over. The river at the end was such a great reward. Beautiful view, and my boys had a blast skimming stones. Perfect distance too — not too long, not too short. 100% worth doing!
Sinta P — Google review
Doing the Z bend River Trail I would give it more than five stars if I could. This is arguably my favourite hike in Western Australia along with bald head in Albany. You don't have to do the full river trail you can just walk down to the lookout which is a nice and easy walk and accessible to most people. If you do decide to go down to the river trail, it is not a difficult walk but it does involve some climbing of ladders and hopping down and up rocks but it is not a long walk at all and most of the time you have shade because you are in the gorges amongst the rocks. Beautiful views combined with a little bit of a more adventurous walk and this is a highlight in Kalbarri National Park for me. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
Fantastic views and beautiful wildflowers to see along the way! Make sure to visit in September if you want to see the floral display!
Lauren — Google review
Though challenging in parts, Z Bend River Trail will reward you with stunning river views, rock features and wild flowers. Be prepared for ladders and steep trails. Thoroughly recommend!
Natalee C — Google review
Considered a class 4 hike, felt more like a 3 but with some more challenging rock climbing and some ladders. Not hard in terms of length or elevation so young kids (comfortable with hiking) can do this easily. Go early! You'll almost get the place to yourself.
Bruno L — Google review
A slightly longer walk and more steps than the nature's window but the view is still worth it.
Mark C — Google review
Natural beauty. Kalbarri national park is beautiful and Z bend was breathtaking. Watch out for flies. I had to finally wear a fly net , to stop it from going inside my nose.

Kalbarri National Park is a stunning natural area with red and white striped sandstone river gorges and coastal cliffs. A visit to the park can be a full-day adventure or just a quick stop, offering plenty of opportunities for memorable experiences and incredible photos. For a small fee, visitors can explore the entire park by car. The south of Kalbarri features lookouts and trails with breathtaking views of sandstone cliffs dropping over 100 meters to the ocean.
Kalbarri National Park is stunning, with deep red gorges and dramatic ocean cliffs all in one place. Nature’s Window is a highlight, and the coastal views from places like Island Rock and Natural Bridge are just as impressive. Great walks, amazing photo spots, and an easy drive from town. Definitely one of WA’s best national parks.
R S — Google review
If you have never tried eating a fly, this is one place you may have the opportunity. The entire place is swarmed with flies, and if you are willing to brave through them, then an awesome view awaits at the end. I understand that on certain months, the queue to take a picture on the cliff can be as long as 40 pax in front of you! So try to go early. Remember to get a head net before going if you don't want to keep fanning yourself, or at least a face mask.
Botak — Google review
What a stunning place! Dripping with ancient history. The Sky walk was pretty good & the developers have done a good job to integrate it so it isn't an eyesore in this amazing environment. The River walk is spectacular & a must do. Love it!

The view is breathtaking! But the hike to the nature window can be abit tough for elderly. The only thing I cant stand is the AMOUNT OF FLIES THAT WILL COME TO YOU! It sticks to your shirt and is always around your face…
Saibya T — Google review
Lovely place to stop off and some lovely walking trails also. One of the best national parks in Australia! We had a lovely day exploring all the views (natures window, Z bend and lookouts). Worth the NP fee and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves even when it started to rain.
Isla Y — Google review
We visited Nature's Window and the Skywalk. Both attractions were busy, but it was okay for a Sunday. Be sure to leave your trailer or caravan in town, or with a bit of luck, grab one of the five trailer parking spaces 200 meters from the park entrance.

The Gorges Cafe, located in Kalbarri, Western Australia, is a must-visit destination. Situated just 5km south of Kalbarri, this cafe offers a diverse menu with popular dishes like chicken mignon and oysters kilpatrick. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a meal after exploring the nearby attractions such as Red Bluff Lookout and Kalbarri National Park.
Absolutely wonderful. Customer service was amazing, atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was cooked to perfection. Busy, but no longer than at 5-10 minute wait on food. 100% recommend to anyone.

What a great place to dine! We visited for Sunday breakfast and were not disappointed. The location is perfect—close to the beach with plenty of easy parking. The food and coffee were exceptional, service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended to everyone!

We may have only ordered hot chips to take away but they deserved a review! They were delicious, best we’ve had in ages (hard to come by these days apparently). They were crispy, super hot and fresh and the aioli was delicious!! Salt on the tables to add as you need! The place looked like a nice play to sit and enjoy lunch. Thank you for delicious chips!!
Lydia P — Google review
A solid brekkie choice! The location is superb - straight across from the beach front and conveniently positioned if you want to depart for the National Park. The staff are also friendly and attentive, running the store like a well-oiled machine. Most importantly, the food is good. The eggs bene was delicious, but I really recommend the breakfast wrap as it became my clear favourite of the options I tried over numerous visits. The big breakfast was ok but not amazing - I wouldn't choose scrambled eggs again, and so, too, was the coffee.
Aaron T — Google review
One of the only places we have stopped for breakfast on our way from Perth to Exmouth. Super happy staff to greet you. A simple fresh menu. Great coffee !! Always good to find a place that makes their own hollandaise sauce. Our meals were fresh and generous. We took left overs that couldn’t be eaten. I had the eggs Benedict with hash browns on the side. The missus had sweet potato fritters. We both had a flat white coffee. I would definitely come back but leaving straight after.

Pretty good! Food was ok not azamingly yummy but I aprove haha Really nice ambience and service <3

The food wasn’t very good, the provided water cups were pretty dirty, there wasn’t an updated online menu, and the hot chocolate had the chocolate mix all over the cup. 5.4/10 would not recommend

We recently stayed a few nights in Kalbarri and enjoyed a nice fish & chips takeaway from Georges Cafe during our visit. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a menu of Australian servings. Presently, opening hours are 7am to 2pm (Wed - Sun). note that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Our fish and chips order was very good. Fillets were nicely breaded and fried and tasted very fresh. Chips perfectly crispy fried, served with tartar sauce and a fair bit of salad, nicely packaged for take-away. Everything you can ask for in a fish-n-chip order. Would gladly revisit for a brekky or lunch if in Kalbarri again.

Kalbarri Tudor Holiday Park

4.2
(644)
Holiday park
Kalbarri Tudor Holiday Park is a family-friendly destination with a great kids playground, bouncy pillow, and swimming pool. It's conveniently located just a short 5-minute walk from the beach, which also features another playground. In addition to caravan spots, the park offers cabins for rent. The friendly team at the Kalbarri Visitor Centre can provide accommodation options and expert advice on local attractions and tours.
We enjoyed our stay in Brick Unit 1, which was fairly spacious, well-organized, and equipped with all the basic amenities exactly as described in the booking details. It was also spotlessly clean. We especially appreciated that the toilet and shower areas were separate, which added convenience. The beds were comfortable, with clean, good-quality linen and quilts provided. A special mention goes to the friendly front office staff—when I had trouble opening the door one afternoon, they quickly sent an attendant over to open the door for me. The location was also excellent, just a short walk from the town’s main tourist and shopping hub. Another incident of likings: on our way back to the unit after a late-night walk around 10 p.m., we were pleasantly surprised to encounter a herd of kangaroos in front of the reception area. Disliked: The roads inside the premises need repairing. The old signage at the entry is difficult to read, needing a repainting too. The road erosion in front of our unit resulted in long-term storage of rainwater, which was not enjoyable. The brick units are located at the end of one of the caravan parking strips. We had limited park space because the neighboring tourists did not leave any space at all when they parked their big caravan next to our unit. In the peak season (mid-July) with packed tourists, we could not manage to connect to the net using the free wifi for a moment.

Loved our stay at Tudor for 5 nights. It was school holidays but it didn't feel overly busy and noisy. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Sites were a good size. We had one big rig with us that over hung but it didn't stop anyone from getting around. Loved the communication texts from the office too. Would highly recommend it for families. Super close to the foreshore / pubs ect

We stayed in a 1 bedroom chalet. It was clean and very spacious. The park is very well managed with friendly staff and good communication. Great place for families and couples to relax and enjoy all that Kalbarri has to offer. Walking distance to shops, cafes and hotels. Would definitely stay there again when travelling through the area. Highly recommend.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here! Maintenance guys lovely, reception staff too. Amenities are well maintained and super clean. Nice grass site and plenty of room. So much for the kids to do - jumping pillow, pool, playground, sand pit etc. Very close to everything Kalbarri has to offer. I have no negative feedback, just all very positive. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved this campground! Everything was great – the kitchen, the pool, the hot showers – all super clean and well maintained. But the most amazing thing about this place is the people who work here. They are so kind, helpful and genuine – they make the whole experience special. Honestly, everyone here deserves a raise! 🌟 We had such a good time I forgot to take photos.🤣

The amenities were clean and showers hot. The camp kitchen was also clean and all stainless bench tops and well set up. They offered wifi and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was of peak time and my little Staffordshire terrier was also welcome and even got cuddles and pats from staff. I will stay here again when back in Kalbarri.

We stayed in a beautiful villa overlooking the very inviting swimming pool. The villa was clean, comfortable, well equipped and we had a lovely time. The site is a great location too. We would thoroughly recommend a stay and will definitely be back.

We stayed here on a powered site and it was a lovely campsite. We had to self check in as we arrived after office hours but it was very easy as the staff had provided a map of where our spot was. We got to meet Fred (the parrot) which was a surprise when we heard a ‘hello’ but no one was there! They were round the corner in their cage! The shower and toilet rooms are great as they are all in one. It’s in a great location as it’s only about a 10 min walk to the beach, pub, bottle shop and restaurants.

This was a great stop to buy tickets for the national parks (they have pay on entry machines as well). Had a chat with the lovely ladies who worked here, they were able to give us advice on routes to walk and what times would be best to see certain places - very thankful for there advice!

Stopped by the Kalbarri Visitor Centre along Grey Street in the centre of Kalbarri and found this to be a good source of information for local tourism. They had maps, update on trail closures in the NP due to recent flooding. Staff seemed friendly and knowledgable. A fair amount of souvenirs, clothing and other related merchandise available as well.

Kalbarri lovely place but not very friendly towards people that are only stopping for 24 hours or those that just need a rest stop. A 24 hour stop would help- as the road campaign says “ DONT DRIVE TIRED” . We always spend a lot of money in to small business when this is offered. Anyway we found a 24 rest stop just before the “ Welcome to Kalbarri “ sign. Ocean views and a beautiful sunset. A little close to the road but it’s fine for 1 sleep . Will review the Kalbarri attractions tomorrow

Best coffee in Kalbarri, worth a trip in. New owners have settled in nicely and food is fantastic, always plenty on the plate and steak melts in your mouth. Gets busy at times so booking is recommended during holiday season and wait times are longer as to be expected.

Friendly service and nice views, but the food was very average and overpriced. My deep fried squid had a hint of a dishwashing product in taste. The plus is that this place is almost always open. But the interior needs a substantial update. Would not really recommend for dinner.

Great value and highly recommended if you’re visiting Kalbarri!

Stayed for two nights — the room was a good size and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The hotel offers plenty of parking, a pool that the kids enjoyed, and a gas BBQ for guests to use. Best of all, quiet hours are strictly enforced after 9 PM, which made for a peaceful stay.

Loved our stay at Palm Resort, staff was very sweet, place was clean and blankets and heaters provided. Good size pool and small playground for kids. Stove a bit hard to work with but other than that everything was amazing including the price very reasonable. Definitely recommended.

The rooms are spacious but rather old… the kettle provided in the room is super disgusting, i don’t suggest cooking your water there… I just microwave water to get hot water instead. The toilet is fine and its big. The thing i love about is the wild kangaroos outside the hotel…

Our favourite place to stay on Kalbarri. The restaurant staff remember us from previous stays, and always have a kind word. Nice clean rooms, and is close to the beach and eateries.

Location of the spot is great. A short walk or cycle to the beach, the lovely Bluff bakery, ice cream shop etc. Plenty to see when you stroll about and there R kangaroos and an emu around to spot. Grounds are kept very nicely and tidy. Staff is very friendly and nice. Pool area was handy and kept tidy and clean. Very kid friendly spot. Price is very very affordable. Good for a quick Stopover. The room is pretty dated. As long as one is okay with it, then it is not an issue. Otherwise you might get a shock. 😂 The price reflects what u get. On the whole, I can see it is kept clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable but pillows were abysmal and flat. We used our own. The decor and set up could definitely be improved and slightly modernised. Like a new toilet seat as ours had stains and cracks. The carpets and the chairs in the room had big stain marks which I was not comfortable with. But unfortunately that's the problem with carpets. The doorframe in the bathroom was rusting and the door was creaking every night when we opened n closed it. Our bath towels was kinda thin but functional. Kitchenette is very very basic. Sufficient space to make a drink + use the microwave. Fridge had rust bits on the outside. Kitchen drawer was not opening easily and the cabinet had a very musty smell, probably not opened much. Kettle needed a refresh. We ate out the whole two nights we were there so wasn't fussed. Parking is right in front of our unit so that's very handy. It would be a great spot if a bit of maintenance is done to the room set up!

The Palm Resort does what it is meant to do, which is to give you a quick break on holidays and allow you to be well situated in Kalbarri. We stopped over for two nights on the way back from coral bay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the rooms are dated. Moving past that, it is really kids friendly with the pools and tennis court and being a short walk to the river mouth. It is also close to Finlay’s bar. Close to all the shops in the main area. I gather that people that book in, will be spending most of the day outside enjoying the Kalbarri sights.

Restaurant
Dirt Dust N Diesels Outback Restaurant is a must-visit for both locals and tourists, offering an authentic Australian dining experience. The restaurant features friendly staff, prompt service, and a unique menu including specials like emu and camel dishes. The interior design creates a great atmosphere with nice music playing in the background. While some dishes may not meet expectations, the homemade beer buttered onion rings are highly recommended.
To be honest I was a bit worried about going back here since we had had two not so good experiences about 12 months ago, but we are so glad we did give it another go! Saw some advertising about some specials and new management so thought why not give it a try. We went on the Wednesday night which is now a new special grill night with some cheap options, $20 sirloin steak, $15 rump steak and $15 chicken breast. I ordered the sirloin and the choices of sauce was mushroom or pepper and so I asked to pay extra and have both which was not a problem and I must say both were obviously made in house and were both delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and the chips were crunchy and tasty. The small side salad was fresh and crispy and was enough as it was all quite filling and very good value for $20. Husband had the same with mushroom gravy which he said had some noticeable garlic in it and he was impressed with the flavour and as he is the 'gravy guru' that is a huge compliment. The son had the rump and although slightly overcooked was still very tender and tasty. It was obvious the meat is of high quality. Still short on staff as is most of the restaurants in Kalbarri, so drinks were slow to come but apologies were made without us saying anything. Very nice new management eager to please. If you don't like your dinner on a cutting board they will even put it on a plate for you if you ask. So if you haven't been for a while or had some bad experience in the last 12 months, I highly recommend that you give them another go, we're glad we did.
Raelene L — Google review
We ordered a large array of food, some of which were disappointing but a highlight was the steak burger with the lot. The steak was cooked through but surprisingly it was still tender. The Turkish bun played well into the flavour of the steak. It ended up exploding but doesn’t it always. The rest of the meals were average at best even though they exhibited exotic meats. From a boar stew, to an emu noodle dish, to the deep fried crocodile the food was unfortunately bland and forgettable. The boar was so tender but the frozen veggies and mash potatoes let it down. The emu was very tough, the noodles were tough and the sauce was canned. The crocodile was also very tough and needed a mango chutney instead of slices, and a proper coleslaw. Definitely needs improvement Edit: There are is no such thing as customer service, one waitress plus the owner who was not happy to be here. Needs improvement

Make sure to book ahead of time! But they managed to fit us in. A great meal, value for money and tasty! Large portions with a good atmosphere was great and staff were friendly. The Pie had great flavour and was very tasty!

Very nice place. Staff super friendly, service is fast and prompt. They have specials from emu, camel etc. Nice music, great interior design features. The beer buttered onion rings are really home made and a must to try. I don't really recommend the spaghetti bolognese (literally there wasn't any spaghetti, just the ragu) but all the rest was really 5 stars! They have a challenge as well (the infamous blown diff burger). If you can finish it alone with the chips within 20 minutes you get the meal for free! ☝️See my pictures! Highly recommended! Will definitely visit again.
Orsi J — Google review
One of the best steaks I have had for a long time. Cooked perfectly. Price was more than acceptable. The meals for all four of us were perfect. Entrees (Garlic Bread and Onion Rings) were epic. Also nice enough to give a seniors discount!
Deon M — Google review
The food was disgusting, the service was terrible, numerous times we had to wait while staff finished their conversation when they could clearly see us waiting. If I could give zero stars I would.. Stay away! I never normally write reviews as I myself run a very successful bistro in Perth metro but this place was so bad! Ordered a med - well 500gm rump and it came out with in 10 mins of ordering, microwaved! Even got our entrees cold, before our drinks for the table were delivered ( which were only a soda water and a jug of coke) Everything seemed pre cooked and heated up by a microwave.. Worst meals we have ever had and after spending over $100 on meals, I'd expect a little better presentation. We had a sick family running back and forth to the toilet only hours later! Really disappointed, you would think a town that relies on tourists would have their act together. No wonder the place is up for sale! After sending a message and commenting on their Facebook page, I have been blocked! Extremely poor customer service and management.
Matthew L — Google review
The staff were very friendly but they lost our order, though we were the first customers in at 6pm and the second table to order. We finally got the two kids meals at 7.45pm though the little ones were tired, grumpy, hungry and falling asleep by that point. The adult meals took another 20 minutes after that, though mum didn't get to eat hers as she took the kids back to the accommodation. The food was nice when it finally arrived and the waitress explained that the chef was away so they had a stand in for today. They took our drinks off the bill by way of apology but it's not how I'd hoped our last (and only) family meal out in Kalbarri was going to go.
Philip L — Google review
Don't waste your time. Tastier food at the other restaurants/pubs in Kalbarri. Shocking table service, 3 different waitresses asked us if we were ready to place our order, then disappeared telling us they needed to get pen and paper. Entree then took quite an extended amount of time to arrive - 1 small platter. The drinks arrived sometime after that. Atmosphere was dull at best. The place appeared very unorganised. We didnt order beyond the entree as it was not as expected - italian sausage platter with crackers and cheese. The cheese was sweaty when it arrived and appears to be kraft slices. The italian sausage was pre-packaged salami that had been fried. Not pleasant. Would not recommend.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Gilgai Tavern, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Eagle Gorge Lookout. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

The restaurant serves typical pub grub with enormous servings, including dishes like chicken mignon, oysters kilpatrick, lamb cutlets, pecan sunset, and surf and turf. Visitors can enjoy the relaxed ambiance while savoring the delicious steakhouse menu.

A solid choice in Kalbarri! If you're feeling like the comforts of pub food and great local service, you can't go wrong at the Gilgai Tavern. The food is good value and generously portioned, as are the beverages, naturally. Best of all, the patrons host with a warmth that can be hard to find these days. The Tavern has a comfortable indoor and outdoor dining area. However, booking is recommended during peak season (e.g. public/school holidays) if you want your preference.

Meal summary: meal 1 chips on meal soggy & chicken Mignon well overcooked. Meal 2 crispy salmon & veg very nice. Drinks: Evan n Tate SB great. Large Carlton 3.5 flat as a tack. Cost over $10. Owners response to complaint was essentially tough! you ordered it your problem if you want another beer pay for it! Total spend roughly $115 for 2. Seriously disappointed in the attitude, especially when the flat beer was out of our control. I did not order a flat beer!

We are Lilly and Skye labradors travelling around Australia with mum and dad. Last night it was date night, so we stayed in the van watching a movie "Beethoven" with some snacks. Mum and dad went out for a drink or 2 at the Gilgai Tavern before dinner. They did not eat here, but will do Thursday night. Beer and wine was cold and the view of the coastline was magnificent. Mum and dad came back here Thursday night. Dad had the lamb chops mum had a schnitzel. We stayed in the van hoping they will bring us a doggy bag but no they ate all of the food.

Visitors can enjoy the company of colorful and talkative birds, some of which are friendly and love posing for pictures.
What a great place, we went not expecting much but spent 3 hours there enjoying all the beautiful gardens and the birds with their different characters. Such a well maintained place, a credit to the owners. The little cafe served toasted sandwiches for $5 and they were delicious.

Worth a visit and they do some great things for the parakeets. Plenty of undercover eating areas and good play area for kids to keep them occupied while you chill out and order something from the cafe. Friendly staff and a has a gift shop with plenty of items.

This place although basic is amazing. Because its all been done by a family without any govt funding. The birds are beautiful. A lovely walk through area. And the waterfalls and tropical garden are very well done.

An enjoyable and well priced outing. The cages were exceptionally clean and the birds were amazing. The walk through aivery was large with a variety of free flying birds. A well kept natural environment mixed with tropical plants and water features resulting in a pleasurable experience. A lovely little display of students research and observational drawing of the birds too.

Alot of beautiful and colourful birds. Some are talkative and are friendly and love to pose for pics📷🐦📸. You can take a walk thru the open aviary or sit at the cafe and listen to all the birds while the kids play in the kids area or get lost in the maze. My favorite was a 2.5 year old Red Maccaw named Malachi who would follow me around the cage when I spoke to him and even let me pat him💖💖💖.

Red Bluff Lookout

Red Bluff Lookout offers a stunning vantage point atop red coastal cliffs, providing breathtaking views and opportunities for whale-watching. The sandstone coastline south of Red Bluff resembles the Great Ocean Road, showcasing impressive geological formations that are unique to the area. A 10-minute drive from Kalbarri leads to this natural wonder, where visitors can follow a pathway to the highest point of the bluff and admire the spectacular vistas of the Indian Ocean and dramatic coastal cliffs.
Another amazing stop to experience the cliffs in the Kalbarri area. Sealed footpath to viewpoints. Also, a gravel path down to Red Bluff beach. Need to be careful if taking the beach path. Wind was blowing fairly briskly during my visit. Do need to be prepared for wind gusts.
David V — Google review
A beautiful view — you can even bring along a table and chairs to enjoy breakfast here while watching the sunrise and, if you’re lucky, spot some whales.
Ding Z — Google review
I visited red Bluff Lookout as part of a larger walk that includes pot Alley and mushroom rock. This was the start of my walk. I was here at Sunrise and I had the place to myself. The views at Sunrise of Kalbarri town centre as well as some of the kangaroos hopping around made a very enjoyable experience. The walk out to red Bluff lookout is paved the entire way wheelchair accessible and an easy one for families with small kids or people that don't want to walk long distances. The Browne Town.

Recommend watching the sunset from here. Sealed walkways, good car park and seating where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Stunning cliffs and oceans view.
Natalee C — Google review
Red Bluff is one of a handful of stops that we made while sightseeing along the Kalbarri Coast. There is a pull off from the main road, leading to a parking area at Red Bluff. At the carpark you will also find signage information for a few short walk opportunities including a lookout to the sea (700 metres return), the longer trail (1km return) to the main Red Bluff Lookout where you can see red bluffs meeting the blue sea as well as an additional little trail down to the beach (1 km return) situated near the Red Bluff Lookout. Views are very nice at Red Bluff, as they are at several other of the stops along the coastline. This is one of the stops closest to the town centre so its fairly easy to make a quick drive out and have a look-see while staying in Kalbarri.

When we were they it was our first time that we have been able to see whales they were close enough to hear the slap on the water I was to excited that I could not get a good photo. It is a wonderful lookout

If you take a hike down from the lookout there’s some spectacular sandstone formations to look at. We spent a hour here walking and looking in and around the various formation. There’s interesting bands of pebble sized rocks which appear to be some sort of quartz material.

Pot Alley is a stunning coastal attraction in Kalbarri, offering breathtaking views of rugged ocean gorges descending to beaches. The 400-meter return hike to Pot Alley Beach provides spectacular scenery and is great for a family picnic. However, visitors should be prepared for the presence of flies, especially during certain seasons. Despite this, the panoramic view of the blue sea and cliffs makes it well worth the visit.
One of our favourite spots for the sunset in all of Kalbarri. We staying in town for about 2 weeks, drove out here a few times and each afternoon was as beautiful as the last.

Pot Ally is definitely worth visiting and if you do come, take the walk down to the beach to get the most out of the area. The walk down to the beach offers some interesting views and a different look as you walk through awesome rock formations that look like something out of death Valley in Arizona. There is a car park at the top of pot Alley and this place can see some visitors but very few people take the walk down to the beach which is the actual highlight of visiting pot Alley. This is one of the stops that we liked along the Kalbarri Coast. You'll find a carpark along with trail sign information, including the 8 km (one-way) Bigurda track south to Natural Bridge. There are excellent views of the red cliffs meeting the sea at Eagle Gorge. You'll also find a short walk down to the beach below for those interested. It is a nice stop to make for sea views and a bit of whale watching. We saw several humpbacks breaching in the distance. Have a pair of binoculars handy.

This is one of several overlooks of the Indian Ocean in this stretch of Kalbarri National Park just south of town. The turnoff is well-marked on the highway, and a paved road leads to parking in just a few minutes. The path to the overlook is easy, flat, and short, and the view is awesome! Colorful red limestone cliffs undulate in and out, jutting out into the water at regular intervals. The view isn’t remarkably different from some of the others nearby, so if you are pressed for time, one might be enough. If you possibly can, do walk the first 10 minutes of the Rainbow Valley trail, starting at the south trailhead. That offers you fascinating, closeup and personal views rock formations like those you see from Eagle Gorge Lookout.

Its a very cosy shop that only has a few sitting inside, and 2 tables outdoor… the shop smells incredible with the baked pizza scent. They have many options to order from, and quite a number of vegetarian flavour. I ordered the 4 cheese pizza and vegetable pizza… the vegetable pizza is soooo filled! Many toppings and I loved it! It has so many olives and capers… the staffs are really generous with the toppings, the cheese is flowing !! Anyways the pizza is really really tasty! Lets talk about the vegan and gluten free options.. they are available, however it’s an extra $4 for each request

This is a simple pizza take-away place with a few outside tables and a selection of around 10 different pizzas you can order. Prices are reasonable, serving size find, ingredients not bad. Opening hours around 4pm to 9pm daily. We arrived into Kalbarri fairly late during our recent stay in the area and decided to just do a take-away pizza in our hotel after a long drive day. Pizza was heated a tad bit too long, cheese was a bit burnt on top but otherwise, what was served was decent, good enough for late night, simple eating.

Nah I don’t want to leave bad review. But the waitress makes me angry. I ordered at 6:59. Creamy garlic prawn. It took three of them cooking 30mins to get it done. What makes me angry is they laughed there. Moreover, after I ordered 10 min, some other people walk in. They got their food quicker than me! What takes 30 mins to make a pasta? Until I asked again, they brought me my food. And they mistaken my food as a take away. Although I don’t like the waitress there, the food is barely ok, although there are some pasta block.

Got some yummy pizzas last night, as locals our rule us to never buy takeaway during the school holidays but after an extremely busy day and shear exhaustion setting in we brine our rule and ordered pizza online. Very cool that Kalbarri has come up in the world for this ordering system! Got home delivered for only $5, awesome 🤩 meat lovers was tasty as was the Kalbarri Supreme but not sure if we got someone else’s order as our supreme was missing the tasty components we were looking forward to, no salami and no anchovies, so this was very disappointing hence the lost star. Super impressed at the quick delivery though especially in the holiday season.

Great pizza for a lazy night! Fresh hot and ready when they said on a very busy night! Good prices. Lovely staff. Thank you would happily recommend 👌

2 pizzas, garlic bread and drink $55 thought it was a bargain but for what you get definitely wouldn’t ever purchase again. Meat lovers was trash, too crispy with next to no topping. Supreme was average. Garlic bread though…. That was STILL FROZEN. Waste of money and surprised it was as busy as it was.
Shanai C — Google review
Good pizza. Garlic bread was okay. It was busy due to it being a public holiday and had many tourists. There was some confusion with my order but it was sorted out easily.

Had the garlic prawn pizza. Ordered at the counter and waited about 20-25 minutes cos it was a busy evening. Limited parking so best to order ahead via phone. Wish there was a little more prawn on the pizza. Overall good.

Restaurant
Finlay's Kalbarri is a charming open-air restaurant situated in the heart of Kalbarri, Western Australia, a beloved beachside town known for its stunning scenery and plethora of land and water activities. Tucked away from the beach, this off-the-beaten-track eatery offers a delightful dining experience. The nearby Kalbarri Edge Resort provides comfortable accommodation options including studios and one or two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, some featuring spas, balconies, and BBQs.
Finlay is underrated on google.. This spot perfectly blends chill outdoor vibes with seriously good craft beer — brewed right on-site! The food complements the drinks beautifully — think hearty pub bites with a twist: crispy fries, juicy burgers, and sharing platters that pair perfectly with a cold pint. Service is friendly, the crowd is easy-going, and the atmosphere feels effortlessly relaxed — ideal for weekend afternoons or golden-hour catch-ups. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or just looking for a cool outdoor hangout, this place hits the mark. 🍺✨

We visited Finlay while holidaying from Perth after reading some great reviews. The venue is well set up with a lovely atmosphere — relaxed, welcoming, and thoughtfully styled. The food was enjoyable overall; well-prepared and nicely presented. That said, the tacos could use a touch more seasoning and perhaps a bit of freshness or spice to really lift the flavours. While everything tasted good, we felt the dishes could benefit from a bit more punch. As a family of five, we did find it on the pricier side, but the overall dining experience was pleasant. A nice spot for a relaxed meal — worth a visit if you're in the area.

Cool spot, we enjoyed the atmosphere. Food was ok - good quality and presentation, just needs more flavour eg dressing on side salad. Great range of house craft beers. Appreciated the service - staff were attentive and set expectations on wait time.

Dined here twice in a week … both times all staff were super friendly and welcoming . Food was so good … first time shared octopus , Exmouth prawns and fish tacos …. Return visit for the char grilled lobster / crayfish…. 🦞 … All the meals were great … if I was being picky I’d have liked a bit more salad with the crayfish …., and the presentation of the panna cotta was not good … But minor details…. Both nights great time , great food and delicious beers . Thank you

Our favourite spot if we visit Kalbarri! Love the rustic set up and space. Definitely love the food and beer. Kids enjoy roasting marshmallows. The t-shirts are good quality as hubby got one here 2 years back and it's still lasting well and he wears them often. So coming back again, he got another! BUT the wait for food is long, about 45mins. We were warned so we went prepared. Plus it wasn't our first time here. For the lovely food and beer, we were happy to wait and chill. Kids had their card games, adults enjoyed their beer while waiting for food. Going in winter meant we rugged up nicely so we didn't feel too cold being outside as well. Staff was always very helpful and prompt. We also made sure we made a booking in advance near the fireplace as we were a big group.

My family of 4 visited Kalbarri for 4 days and we've been to Finlay's twice! The food and beer were very delicious and we love the relaxed atmosphere. The first time we went was for dinner. We arrived an hour early from our reservation as we just reached Kalbarri and we were very hungry. The staff managed to get a table for us early too! The second time we went back for lunch on our third day. Highly recommend for you to dine at Finlay's if you are in Kalbarri and be sure to make a dinner reservation in advance!

Great atmosphere with live music on Sundays. Good food well priced and delicious. The battered beer fish had a slightly strange flavour according to one guest but that is probably just personal taste. Service was great and the other meals were amazing

Finlays was a very interesting experience to say the least. To start the food all came out in staggers, usually you would bring all the food out within a 5-10 minute window. The first 2 orders came, than one came 15 minutes later. Despite the wait, they sure can make a killer burger. Wouldn't recommend to come for the atmosphere, but the food is good. 4/5

The Pelican Cafe in Kalbarri, Western Australia offers a modern Australian cuisine featuring fresh produce from West Australia. The cafe is fully licensed and provides comfortable indoor and outdoor dining with stunning panoramic views of the Murchison River. Visitors praise the friendly staff and top-notch service, making them feel special with thoughtful gestures like surprise birthday cupcakes.
The perfect spot to stop in for breakfast. We were just in time to watch the pelicans being bed across the road. The menu has something for everyone on it. The food came out hot and everyone was impressed with their breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly. There is also an array of cabinet food to choose from. There is plenty of indoor and out door seating. Definitely recommend.

Such a shame. I understand it was busier than usual, so I was okay with the long wait. I ordered an iced long black, but it was far too watery. Most disappointing was the avocado toast—it was served on a HAMBURGER BUN, which was really underwhelming. I paid 45 dollars for this 😕 I think you can see quality of the food in the pictures, I guess most popular doesn’t mean good or yummy at all 😳

My wife and I had a magnificent lunch. I had a steak sandwich with a good quantity of chips and my wife salt and pepper squid with salad. We also were allowed our well behaved border collie dog to dine with us as it was a fairly quiet day. Staff were very friendly and the relaxing view of the river with the waves breaking over the reef at the mouth of the river just made us feel like sitting there all day. Our meals ,coffee and a fruit juice came to about $80.00

Nice place to hang and staff are good, but the drink and food. The milkshake was not made with ice cream but rather milk and flavor-very disappointed. The pancakes texture felt old, almost like it was made and reheated. Still grateful I had food, but if I'm paying for someone else to make it, it should be better quality, not worse than I would make it.

For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Murchison House Station. Hawks Head Lookout

4.6
(383)
Hawks Head Lookout is a must-visit spot in Kalbarri National Park, Western Australia. The short and easy walk from the carpark leads to breathtaking views, although some imagination may be needed to see the hawk's head in the outcrop. It's a tranquil area with clean public drop toilets and picnic spots. Visitors should have a National Parks and Wildlife permit or pay at the entry station. The lookout offers amazing photo opportunities, but caution is advised during windy conditions.
I'll give it five stars, but this might be influenced by the fact that I saw it with fog in the gorges and it looked pretty cool. The walk to the lookout is easy and accessible by anyone, the lookout itself has nice views up and down the river. There's not really much else to say about it. It's a lookout over the gorges with a nice easy walk down and back to the car park. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
This is one of two viewpoint stops you can make along the south entrance to Kalbarri National Park. You'll find a small carpark area, public toilet and a short 200 metre walk to a viewpoint down into the valley below. The views are really nice in the evening with the sun at your back. We spotted kangaroos down by the riverbank as well as three black-flanked rock wallabies in the rock pile just below and to the right side of the viewing deck. Overall a nice little spot to visit along with the nearby Ross Graham Lookout just a short distance away.
Brad — Google review
Another beautiful lookout among the many in Kalbarri National Park. Just a short stroll to the lookout and not as crowded as the more popular Skywalk and Nature’s Window. So if you want some peace and quiet just have a picnic on the benches nearby and enjoy the gorgeous views. You do need a bit of imagination to see the Hawk’s head but you definitely will not miss it. Suggest you go to the more popular attractions first to avoid the crowd and on the way back to town visit Hawks Head.
Jeremy K — Google review
Great views from there, but you do need a bit of an imagination to see the Hawks head in the outcrop. It's a very short, easy walk to the lookout from the carpark. There are public drop toilets which are clean and a place where you can sit and have a picnic. Lovely place to visit, but you must have a National Parks and Wildlife permit or pay on entry at the pay station into the National Park.

Great little stop. Down hill walk to the lookout. If you can’t walk down to the lookout, just go halfway. The view from there is as good. The one pass you buy at either entrance covers you for this location.

Murchison House Station is a working farm that offers self-guided walks, camping, and wildlife viewing along the Murchison River. The camping area known as Horse Flats West provides a peaceful and relaxing experience with flat grassy areas and plenty of ghost gums for shade. Visitors can enjoy hot showers, flushing toilets, and lovely gum trees by the river at an affordable price point. It's recommended to book in advance due to limited space and high demand.
Had an amazing few days camping at the homestead on our way back heading south. We did the 4x4 track and it had magnificent views. We will definitely be back for bush camping. Our daughter was thoroughly impressed with the goats and we even saw an enchida in camp. Thank you for sharing your spectacular property.
Carla B — Google review
One of my best camping spots on this trip. Got a homestead site along the river - lovely and quiet. Even though both sites either side me were occupied, it still felt very private and secluded. Safe enough for solo travel.
Jill H — Google review
Recently stayed here on an overnight stop from Carnarvon to Perth and absolutely loved it! Stayed in the Homestead camping area which had HUGE sites overlooking the river, very quiet and relaxed, showers/toilets are rustic but decent and clean with hot water, and the hosts are being modest when they say they have a "basic camp kitchen," as it is packed with everything you need if you are travelling light or don't want to lug your gear across camp. In the right season, the hosts also light the communal campfire in the evening but you can also light your own firepit at your campsite (firewood for this can be purchased at the office). Property is a working station so plenty of animals around, and can feed the goats in the morning if you want, they also do morning tea walking tours on the property and quad bike tours (if you are into it). Overall a great stay, with lovely hosts and am a little sad I didn't stay an extra night or two.
Bianca M — Google review
Grotty furniture on verandahs and in camper's lounge. Camper's kitchen was outdated and very basic, jug was grotty too. Showers were old but functional. BBQs were ok. Belinda was friendly. They comment that it is not a tourist park but charge like a tourist park for unpowered sites. Sites were uneven but views were nice. The echidna was special.
Trudi C — Google review
Too expensive for what it is. Campers/vans are stacked in a small area like a caravan park but pretty much minus the amenities that you get at a CP (it's a long walk to the old bathroom). You can hardly see the river due to the bushes and watch out if it rains as the road in becomes very slippery and muddy. No internet, no dump point, no laundry. Nice staff, and we can't say what the bush camps were like.
Rebecca F — Google review
We stayed at the MHS for 2 nights. What an amazing the spot. We had the camp site right next to the alpacas! Each morning our daughter got to feed the baby goats ( so dam cute!) we adventured through the old shearing shed and looked at the old buildings on the station. It was great! The staff/ camp hosts were amazing. Every evening they lite a big fire 🔥 making this a nice space to get to know other people while staying at MHS. Toilets, showers, camp kitchen all available. overall loved our stay here and will 100% be back!!

What a lovely place! We camped for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay at the station. Being next to the river is the perfect peaceful spot and the kitchen/washrooms are great. Super easy to get into the park and back to the town. Added bonus of feeding baby goats and lovely staff. Would recommend and hope to return soon!

Boat tour agency
Kalbarri Rock Lobster Tours and Charter offers a range of charter tours along the Kalbarri coast on their 50ft vessel, Nebraska II. The company is owned and operated by two brothers from a local commercial fishing family with decades of experience. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing trips where they can catch fish like Pink Snapper and pull in lobster traps to witness an array of marine life including lobsters, octopus, sharks, and sea lions.
Amazing experience and we’ve been telling everyone we meet to do this tour! Captain Vaughn and first mate Kate were a great team! We learnt so much from Vaughn about the industry, loved that we got to sample some delicious lobster treats and we even got to take a lobster each home. A fabulous way to spend a couple of hours on the water. Great value for money!

We spent the morning on the Rock Lobster Tour with Vaughn (captain) and entertainer as well as Kate (first mate) and chef. We learnt plenty from Vaughn about the lobsters themselves & the lobster industry. We sampled beautiful lobster roll & special lobster bites which Kate prepared. The whole tour was very informative and I’d recommend to anyone to do this tour whilst in Kalbarri.

this morning was a blast! We started our day early with a trip to Rock Lobster Tour. It was from 7 am to 9 am, and let me tell you, the weather was absolutely perfect. The crew was super friendly and really informative about the lobster industry. We were so lucky that we managed to snag four lobsters! How cool is that?
PATRICIA H — Google review
We had an amazing morning. The staff know exactly where to go and we saw the most beautiful mammals, even a baby whale showing off his tail flips. Fun ride back in on a big swell. Well worth the money.
Meg G — Google review
Very informative and great value for money tour. Vaughn and Kate were perfect hosts. We started the morning early and had a safety briefing before heading out the channel to collect the pots. It was quite an adrenaline rush getting out there and just as exciting coming back in. Thank goodness the Nebraska II has twin turbos. Included in the price was a treat of lobster slider and portions of cooked tail while on board. We watched on as Vaughn and Kate collected, baited and returned the pots back onto the rock shelves all while they commentated on what catch is kept and released and why. On return to the harbour the catch was divided between the paying adults (children don’t pay full fare so are not given a share of the catch which seems fair) On this occasion every adult was given 2 decent sized lobsters each.

Pelican Feeding Point Kalbarri is a popular daily event where local volunteers gather to feed the pelicans on the foreshore. The feeding takes place at 8:45 am and is open to visitors free of charge, although donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of food for the pelicans. During the feeding, volunteers share interesting facts about pelicans and actively involve children in the process.
The pelican feeders started with cliff ross 50years ago was a great idea ! Super cool to get some nice information about the Australian pelican and also feed them! My daughter loved it (every time) and so did I! Just beautiful creatures and an awesome collaboration of volunteers that make this beautiful experience happen !!! A thousand stars ! 💚💚💚💚

50 years, 365days! We were lucky to see 12 or so pelicans! So cute that they were queue ing right before the feeding starts. There's one pelican that the volunteer said doesn't behave like normal.. He can play dead! 😂 Learned a lot of things about pelican from the volunteer 👍🏻

Daily pelican feeding at 8.45am. Fun experience and the volunteer gave all the kids a chance to feed. Love the story about a pelican trying to eat the seagull.

It is a tradition in Kalbarri to feed the Pelicans and the birds know the time arrived earlier than the participants. It started around 9 (said 8.30-9.30 on the sign board) do arrive early to find a spot! and the volunteer shared a lot of information about the tradition that is very interesting to know. The kids are all excited to the feeding. It was a fun morning activity!

It gets really crowded so come early so you get a parking spot. The volunteers did a good sharing on pelicans and they come in everyday.
ExDee — Google review
Enjoyed watching naughty boy, what a character. Just don't like the whole 'millions of years old' thing. If pelicans were really around then, why haven't they evolved into something else? Evolution is a lie I just don't have the faith to believe. A single celled bacterial turning into all we see here today without any intelligence is a fairytale. More holes than Swiss cheese Otherwise, I really enjoyed watching the pelicans get fed
Jeremy I — Google review
Really enjoyed watching the daily pelican feeding at 8.45am. There is a half circle row of bench seating, volunteer arrives with a bucket of fish to feed pelicans if they are around. Seems some days they have pelicans, others they don't so worth a quick drive by around 8.30-45am to see if the pelicans are around. If so, this is a nice little activity if you enjoy wildlife. Good fun for the kiddos as well.

Such a heart break. We came here for Xmas break in 2023 and the place was GORGEOUS (deffo 5 stars). Back in for Xmas 2024 and the building of a new car park just completely wrecked the pace: the perfect kids beach just got turned into a soulless rocky dump full of broken glass… as a proof: the place was heaving last year and not a soul was there today. Very sad to see so little thoughts put into that redevelopment…

Blue Holes is an amazing spot for snorkeling, even if you're not a strong swimmer. The clear water and vibrant marine life make it a fantastic experience. Be sure to bring a snorkeling kit and wear protective shoes, as the reef and rocks can be rough on your feet. It's also important to check the wave conditions beforehand—it's best to go when the water is calm for a safer and more enjoyable time. When I visited, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area!

Blue Holes is Kalbarri's best snorkeling spot, featuring a natural pool shielded from strong waves by a large reef. The crystal-clear water and white sandy beach are absolutely stunning. Great service, friendly staff, nice value for money food with an Asian influence, value for money drinks prices (the $6.20 corkage price from your bottle shop 👍) Seniors discount on a Sunday! Arguably the best all round value on the WA Coast! Being Packed on a Sunday night speaks for itself!😃😃

Services was great. Enjoyed the live music and atmosphere. Located on the main strip along the foreshore, it’s a local institutionz Family of 4, ordered chicken parmigianas and pizza. Parmis were generously sized, tasty and promptly served. Pizzas took ages and were just ok. They are quite large and you can take them away.

Kalbarri Motor Hotel presents an intriguing situation, as it remains possible to book a room through the official website even when Agoda indicates full occupancy. The location is quite convenient, situated right next to local restaurants and a supermarket, making it easy to access essential amenities. The hotel features appealing decor, and the overall atmosphere feels fresh and new. Parking is conveniently available right outside the rooms, simplifying the process of moving luggage. However, since all rooms are on the ground floor, there may be concerns regarding privacy and safety, as easy street access could lead to disturbances. While there are no major complaints about the hotel, the overall experience could be enhanced with improved privacy measures.

After reading reviews, I was a bit concerned about the food. I had the scotch fillet, chips and salad. I have to say that after being on road for the last 5 weeks, this was one of the best feeds that I have had. Basic salad, no fancy crap. Just a good quality meal. Great staff also. Don’t let bad reviews put you off. I loved it
Jason S — Google review
We had the most amazing steak meal cooked to our liking. Chips were hot golden and crisp and the salad fresh. Would definitely recommend coming here. Also the staff were so welcoming and friendly.

The best pub north of Perth. Very good service, with a huge selection of very good beers, very friendly place with lots of room. We didn't eat here but the food did look good. Highly recommend
Phil S — Google review
Just passing through from Perth and unfortunately the experience here wasn’t great. Service was lacking – the tall guy behind the bar showed no communication, no smile, nothing while we were ordering. The cocktail wasn’t made well, and the food was left untouched. For $125 (2 adults and 2 kids), it really didn’t feel was worth it.

Bakery
When in Kalbarri, a visit to the renowned Kalbarri Hot Bread Shop is a must. This bakery offers an array of delectable treats including pies, sausage rolls, bread, sweet pastries, salad rolls, ice creams and drinks. The shop is known for its freshly baked goods that can last for days and its delightful cakes and donuts. Customers praise the friendly service and recommend trying the spinach and ricotta roll along with the standard sausage rolls.
If you are in Kalbarri or just passing through, you have to go to the KALBARRI BAKERY. The bread lasted 3 days out of the freezer and the cakes were gorgeous, especially the donuts. We went there 9 years ago and they still had their pastries called smokos. You have to be quick though, as they are the first things that go.If all sold out try the meat and veg pastries. The lady is very nice that serves you. The shop is inside the mall on you right side.
Karen D — Google review
Really friendly staff. The pies and pastries are excellent. We can recommend the apple strudel and custard.
Denise H — Google review
This is how bakeries were in my childhood. The food takes me back! Such a cheap price, great bread and the pies are so yum. Love the donuts and they leave such a good taste in your mouth and not at all oily or too sweet. This place is a gem. Thank you to the older couple making these beautiful items.
Chantelle O — Google review
This is a great bakery with very tasty pies and sausage rolls also the lamingtons were delicious 😋. The prices were so cheap compared with other places. This place was so good that I went back twice. Highly recommend.

Definitely has the better pies and is so much cheaper then the other bakery. Its tucked away and lovely local staff. Recommend this bakery over the other one!

Island Rock Lookout is a must-see landmark in Kalbarri National Park, offering stunning views of the surrounding area and serving as home to various bird and animal species. The lookout provides breathtaking views of the coastal cliffs and the Indian Ocean, making it an incredible spot for photos. Visitors can take a leisurely walk to reach different viewpoints and enjoy ample parking facilities. However, it's important to be cautious of strong winds and wildlife while driving in the area.
I loved this place. There is a unmarked trail down to the small beach/cove area. Great views from lookout and large waves crashing in rocks. Exercise caution when climbing the rocks where there is a good hiking trail along this stretch.
Kyle S — Google review
Beautiful location. If you look hard enough you may even spot a drone resting in peace along the cliffs. RIP little buddy.
Jarrod Z — Google review
A quick 1.2km trek on a new boardwalk between the Natural Bridge and Island Rock lookouts. Super easy to and highly recommend for the stunning views. FYI it's super windy here so hang onto your hats!
Bruno L — Google review
We enjoyed making way to Island Rock Lookout on the Kalbarri Coast. It is one of two that can be visited at the nearby carpark along with the Natural Bridge Lookout. We enjoyed seeing feral goats, kangaroos and interesting birdlife nearby as well as quite a few whales breaching out at see. Best to have binoculars with you if you want to do a bit of whale watching. Overall, this is a very nice stop to make if driving along the Kalbarri Coast and wanting to take in some of the lookout points.
Brad — Google review
Island Rock rocks! Beautiful view at the lookout. However beware of strong winds. Drive slowly as there are many kangoroos crossing the roads. Recommended as a pitt stop before going to Kalbarri.
Zaireen Z — Google review
Pristine clifftop lookout over Indian Ocean, within Kalbarri National Park. National park standard sealed roads, carpark, toilets and paths.
Jamie — Google review
Absolutely stunning views of the cliffs and ocean. There’s a nice walk you can follow too to reach different view points. Would love to return.
Emily M — Google review
If there weather is perfect this lookout is BEAUTIFUL! When you realise that you’re at the edge of Australia and the Indian Ocean it really is incredible. Plenty of spots to stop on the trail to rest and take photos, ample parking for those in vehicles, public toilets nearby. The whole place is been well looked after by the local shire.

Hiking Trails
Mushroom Rock is a fascinating geological formation located along the coastline of a National Park. This unique rock structure, made of sandstone, earned its name due to its striking resemblance to a massive mushroom. The area features a walking trail that takes approximately 1-2 hours round trip and offers stunning views of waves crashing into the mushroom-like rock. While the path can be precarious in some areas and may not be suitable for elderly or young children, it provides spectacular vistas from the bottom.
It's a beautiful walk from the carpark down to the mushroom rock which is actually located by the sea. This is actually a loop track which connects up to the rainbow valley track as well.
Raphael N — Google review
A 3km loop to Rainbow valley and back. Fairly easy with young kids of they've been on small hikes before. Stunning views as always.
Bruno L — Google review
Great trail! Walk clockwise Even saw dolphins and beautiful flowers (went there mid of September) Pretty sandy and rocky Took us (with stopping several times) around two hours
Ma.yyy.a — Google review
Walk down to mushroom rock from the car park is a nice walk just by itself. The walk out of mushroom rock up the rock face is equally as impressive. The walk is nothing too strenuous. You can either go from the car park to mushroom rock and back the way you came or you can do a loop around which just adds a different viewpoint on the way back, but it is quite an easy walk. The beach is very nice and as always in Kalbarri there are plenty of things to see specifically with the rock formations. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
Great spot with easy access to the first part of the trek. You can continue on down the path which would not be advisable for less able people due to uneven ground and steep steps.
Steve H — Google review
A bit hard to get to and not sure if this is the mushroom but beautiful views on the way. Be prepared for some steep climbs though. Did not manage to make it all the way to the mushroom as we did not relish the climb back.
Jeremy K — Google review
This is one of the stops along the Kalbarri Coast where you find a carpark and short walk down to an interesting rock structure on the cliffs that from certain angles looks like a mushroom. We also enjoyed the Mushroom Rock Loop Trail (3km) which starts here and takes around 60-75 minutes to complete.
Brad — Google review
This would have to be one of our favourite coastal walks. The path is rather precarious in places do definitely not for the elderly or young children. The views from the bottom are just spectacular. We did the 3km round trip and took about 2 hrs. The path is clearly marked. Take time to read the signs and take in the spectacular layers in the rocks dating back over 420 million years and all the wildflowers. Take plenty of water as it gets extremely hot as you are in the sun the whole way.

Epic break, I could sit here all day photographing people ripping this wave up. Posted on the Kalbarri community page via Facebook and I was stoked a few people in the area were in my shots. Always wanted to visit Kalbarri, stoked I finally got there. Respect to the area 🤙

Kalbarri Wilderness Cruises

Kalbarri Wilderness Cruises offers a unique experience to explore the ecosystem and wildlife along the Murchison River. The cruise provides entertaining and informative commentary about the fishing industry, history, flora, and fauna of the area. It's an ideal nature-based tour for those seeking a quiet and relaxing experience in this picturesque part of the world. Families can enjoy cruising down the lower reaches of the river while learning about the local community and waterways from knowledgeable hosts.
Great sunset river trip with Grant and Tracey in April 2025. They made us very welcome. Both were very informative and we learnt a lot about Kalbarri. Grant is very entertaining and the wildlife we saw was great. I would definitely recommend a trip with this couple. The boat is comfortable and easy to access with a ramp at the front
Annis W — Google review
What an amazing experience!! First off, Grant and Tracy were amazing. Your can sense their love and passion for their craft based on how knowledgeable and accommodating they are for all the patrons. The cruise was set in the morning at 10am (enough time for you to have your coffee and breakfast) and goes for 2.5hrs. Grant’s sense of humour and Tracy’s hospitality (the hot cuppa with biscuits was an excellent touch for the cold weather) is something to really look forward. Cruising up Murchison River, taking in the breath taking views and animals is something I will be recommending to all my family and friends. Be sure to keep an eye out for the famous white breasted eagles. Grant and Tracy, your love for the nature, and your amazing hospitality is something that I’ll always associate Kalbarri with moving forward. We look forward to seeing you guys again when we come up to Kalbarri.
Yougan M — Google review
We had a really lovely sunset cruise on our last night in Kalbarri and thoroughly enjoyed. Grant and Tracey were perfect host, and Grant is a fabulous presenter, telling us the history of the land as we gently sailed along the Murchison River. Relaxing, informative, funny. We had plenty of opportunity to see Kangaroos, birds, including bird of prey and even goats. We learnt how the sheoaks can survive in the saltwater and how the island in the middle has fresh water underneath which is how the amazing kangaroos can survive on the land. Then to top it off we sailed a little further out in the ocean to watch the most spectacular sunset.
Lynette W — Google review
Very informative but light hearted commentary by Grant. He must have done this a million times but still sounded enthusiastic ! This is a scenic cruise with the chance of spotting wildlife. We saw a Roo goats and several birds including eagles . Just a nice leisurely couple of hours up this beautiful stretch of river.

Loved this cruise .... a bit chilly to start but turned into a beautiful day cruising the river. The skipper of the boat (Grant?) was great value for money ..... knowledgeable in all facts Kalbarri and funny and quick witted. Top notch, so glad we did it.

This isca great way to spend a morning and learn about the lower reaches of the Murchison River. Tracey and Grant looked after us very well and Grant provided commentary pointing out things of interest as we sipped on our provided cup of tea. I wouk recommend this cruise if you are in Kalbarri.

Grant and Tracey are absolute champions! So much knowledge about their beautiful Murchison River and the town of Kalbarri. true locals of the region. The cruise was fantastic, wildlife spectacular and the coffee on point! Thanks for laughs guys!!!

This was a very enjoyable cruise. Both the river and environment that were on display was awesome. And the commentary were by two great people who live and breathe Kalbarri, and were able to talk about anything regarding the river and Kalbarri in general.

Reefwalker Ocean Discovery offers a Sunset Coastal Cliff Cruise that takes visitors on a journey along the coast to witness stunning landmarks such as Jacques Point, Red Bluff, Mushroom Rock, Rainbow Valley, Pot Alley and Eagle Gorge. The cruise provides an opportunity to see the cliffs in vibrant red hues as the sun sets over the ocean. Guests can also enjoy sightings of dolphins feeding near the boat during this scenic experience.
Cruising done Kalbarri style. Laid back with awesome scenery - it doesn't come much better than this. The sunset cruise was great & gave a different perspective to the magical coastline. The crew were good, ticking all the boxes in a relaxed way. Shooting the reef in & out of the river mouth added some fun to the standard cruising speed. Very good & would go again on this excellent value tour.

I had booked a whale watching tour but due to bad weather (too much wind later in the morning), I was offered a crayfish tour earlier in the day. It was fun and lasted well over 2 hours. I got two lobsters for myself and I enjoyed it. The two guida were funny and informative while doing a demanding job. Cool experience!

Amazing, compassionate company with a friendly crew who go above and beyond every time. Ayden always ensures The Happiness Crew has the best experience possible, going out of his way to accommodate our clients’ needs, including those with limited mobility. From assisting them safely on and off the boat to enjoying sunset cruises, cray fishing, and even whale spotting, every detail is handled with care and professionalism. Highly recommend!

We had a magical whale watching trip earlier this month. A highlight of our holiday in Kalbarri. Not only that, but noticing that we were travelling with young children, Aydan personally called to suggest a different date to the one we had initially booked to ensure calmer conditions, which I very much appreciated. At all times we felt safe and looked after and the whales were so incredible! Highly recommend.
Jocelyn W — Google review
What a wonderful experience on the Reef Walker. Ayden and Sam were knowledgeable and the boat was immaculate. Only 12 passengers on board so plenty of space and viewing of the pot pulling was excellent. Would I do the tour again? Hell yes! Bonus we came away with 5 crays. ❤️
Jane A — Google review
Best value for money tour. Weather was bad so a delay and Ayden kept us informed about when we could go. The tour exceeded or expectations. We saw rare birds, bronze whaler sharks and lots of lobsters. Ayden told some great stories and let us know about the fishing industry around that area. Because a few people didn't want to take their catch we walked away with 6 lobsters!!!! Wowee we ate it for days in our campsites. I would go again in a heartbeat 💓

Little Leaf Kalbarri, which opened in May 2023, has quickly become a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The restaurant prides itself on its laid-back atmosphere and commitment to sustainability, sourcing seasonal produce from the Midwest region and their own backyard.
Delicious! You won't regret choosing Little Leaf. The service is absolutely fantastic, as is the location. Easy parking and a view out over the beach - the sun sets over the water right out front, so it's definitely a recommended spot for sunset dining. The oysters were fresh and creamy, from Albany. The tacos also delicious. The absolute favourite was the Chicken Quesadilla Tacos with guacamole - crispy tacos and 'finger licking' chicken. BYO alcohol 😉

Hands down the best meal we had in Kalbarri. Full of flavour and fresh ingredients. Serves were generous. Service was faultless. Chilled vibe. Korean fried chicken is a MUST! We also tried laksa, whiting bowl, beef nachos and pork loaded fries - all absolutely delicious. Picture is of battered whiting bowl - crispiest batter and tasty chipotle mayo. Thoroughly recommend 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Had takeaway, as well as dining in during our holiday and both times the food and service were great. Beautiful outdoor area with a lovely view of the river and town. Lots of space, no crowding of tables, means it is a perfect spot to sit with your dogs to enjoy the brilliant food. Fried chicken, loaded fries, tacos (fish and beef), nachos and burritos were all amazing! BYO with a bottle shop across the road. Perfect spot for such a beautiful holiday town.

Food was bad quality: focaccia was reheated, quesadillas were overly over fried and oily. We only had a single knife for 5 people. I had to get up from table to order 5 times: water, glasses, cutlery. Service non-existent.

Came from dunsborough, passing through, best service in a cafe I’ve seen in such a long time. Beats Perth and the southwest! A hi as soon as you come in (rare!) and the barista is all over it. Amazing coffee, a nice change on the road. Food was soooo great, so many options, current menu, nice healthy options and price is so good. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now I know how good this place is!

Loved the Korean Chicken, everything else we had is a fail..we ordered Burrata with Foccacia :( , very sad burrata was old, and who microwaves Foccacia, specially when it is old to start with...several items were no available and had not been for a while though they were still listed on menu,...not hard to update your menu, especially as it was only n A4 sheet.

Absolutely amazing! Service was quick, friendly, and made the experience feel very personal and intimate. The szechuan calamari, confit duck, and the scotch fillet were so flavoursome, literally melt in your mouth, and were great portion sizes. 10/10 recommend, and we'll definitely be back!

This is my 2nd time at the Edge, since my last visit last month the menu has changed significantly and is now much smaller. The food pictures were the paella and chicken schnitzel burger. The desert was very good which was the creme brulee. Overall the restaurant experience was ok not the best but not the worst. The staff were friendly and as the atmosphere was pleasant.

Dinner at restaurant was pleasant and nice. Sitting outside was bonus as they did have reservation for the bus group the same night. I love seeing young people all over world working here in a small town.

Beautifully done seafood marinara pasta with generous amount of seafood. Enjoyed the slight spice which definitely complements the rich tomato- based sauce. However the pasta was on the soft side. We also ordered the confit duck and it was great, tasty and the meat falls off the bone yet retaining crispy skin. The only issue was it took quite long about 30 min for us to get our dinner after ordering.
