Nazca in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Nazca, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Nazca is best known for the Nazca Lines, vast geoglyphs etched into the desert that are most striking when viewed from small sightseeing planes or nearby observation towers. The town also offers insights into pre-Columbian cultures through sites like the Cantalloc aqueducts and the Cahuachi ceremonial center. Nearby cemeteries such as Chauchilla display ancient burial traditions in a stark desert setting. Combined with the surrounding arid landscapes, it’s a compact destination for archaeology, history, and unusual desert scenery.
With favorites like Loom in good faith, Hostel Nasca Lodge, and Museo Arqueológico Antonini, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Nazka restobar and Hostel Nasca Lodge so you can get the best taste of Nazca while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Nazca Desert is home to numerous geoglyphs, which are ancient and mysterious in origin. These massive lines were ingeniously carved by the Nazca people several centuries ago, forming various shapes such as animals, birds, pagan gods, and even an astronaut that can only be seen from high above in an aircraft. The Candelabra Geoglyph on Isla Ballestas is another similar attraction with a height of 150 meters and width of 50 meters.
The most awesome, weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life. Why did they draw the lines? How it was discovered... Make sure that you absolutely follow the instructions of the staff when doing the fly over, otherwise you will puke and be sick, guaranteed. Enjoy ) ah, and there are some cute shops nearby for souvenirs. Funny "google translate" signs around ) the flights are heavily dependent on the winds/weather, you might end up waiting a lot
Stefan P — Google review
It's a 7-hour drive from Lima to Nazca and even longer by bus. Nice views from the airplane to see the lines below, but pictures will not come out on phone camera. In other words, you have to be there to appreciate as you won't be able to share the details with others through pix. In addition to the flight fare, there are also local taxes you must pay.
Zisis B — Google review
We took a flight with AeroNazca and was very impressed. We got picked up from our hostel and dropped back after the flight. We were advised to take an early flight as the weather is generally worst/windy in the afternoon and this was good advice as the wind did indeed pick up in the afternoon..
Robbie T — Google review
Loved seeing this! We did not take the plane to get a view of all of the lines, however we felt that the view from the observation tower gave a fantastic idea and impression of the sheet size of the lines. Perfect!
Claudia A — Google review
First, i am impressed with how the lines were made. Next, do watch the video at the airport while you wait (and you will have to wait). Third, be very prepared for a bumpy ride. I do not get air or seasick but this made me feel a little queasy. If you have a UV and polarised filter for your camera lenses, do consider using them. Once the sun is high and strong enough, the pictures do not come out well.
Ken T — Google review
Extraordinary views from above. The only downside was a very long waiting time and nk clear order of who is boarding the plane
Jolanta P — Google review
Nazca lines are something special. Visit it by plane and enjoy the view. Be aware, planes are small and bumpy but worth it.
Tine O — Google review
We take airplane from Pisco to see the mysterious Nasca lines from the air. It is truly amazing. What an experience!

Great little stop to see 3 of the Nazca lines. Not busy at all, went during the late afternoon with our tour group. Tower is built very well. Wonderful 360 view. Definitely worth the stop.
John D — Google review
It's an observation deck that looks out across some of the nascar lines. It's a very solid construction. There are toilets here and a few vendors.
Alain M — Google review
A perfect pit stop if you’re rolling through on the PeruHop bus—quick, free, and actually worth it. You climb up, snap some photos, marvel at the ancient lines etched into the desert, and you’re back on the road before your legs even start to ache. No overpriced tickets, no tourist gimmicks—just pure, unfiltered history. Easy peasy.
Rich P — Google review
In my opinion: it's more interesting to hear and read about the lines than visiting them in person. If you really want to have a look at them - book the flight, from the tower it is not spectacular at all.
Jérôme — Google review
Nice stop off on the way seeing some of the lines up close. I'm shocked they built a road over the one of the Nazca Lines and didn't realise its significance. No fee. Has facilities 🚻 Also a little tourist shop.
Magnetic P — Google review
Nice view, you can see 3 of the Nazca line figures
G. B — Google review
Nazca lines their selves are very interesting sight, but as for this lookout... Yes, there are 2 towers for view. But you won't see there much, unfortunately. To see Nazca lines you have to be MUCH higher, than these towers. Drone flights are prohibited there (had to land my one after security notice) and don't allow you to see all terraglifes if you don't know the exact place. That's why I believe the real way to enjoy Nazca lines is excursion with a plane only.
Denis K — Google review
I literally cried being, here it was a place I dreamt going to for many years, wanted to see this world heritage site. Totally recommended, there are tornados all around it's just spectacular.

This is a small museum but very memorable. You will understand the story behind all nazca and also some paracas cultures discoveries. Give it a try and go to the museum

Nice place... We must respect her contribution for peru and for the history of the world about civilization.

Despite being smaller than I had hoped, the mummy exhibit was still an interesting experience. The price of only S/8 made it a worthwhile visit.
Eric S — Google review
The museum has potential but the surroundings looks bad, not taken care of ,dusty, empty. The inside has cool info and pictures and the whole building has an old nice vibe to it. The bathrooms are so and so. It is incredible to see the work of Maria Reiche. Incredible woman.
Andreea T — Google review
Very interesting museum of Maria Reiche and her home and workplace. Well worth a visit.

Small place, but well-kept and interesting had lots of info about Maria Reiche and her studies and passion for learning about and protecting these lines. Some nice pottery displays showing Nasca art. Entry fee of s. 5 for adults, s. 2.5 for kids, about 3/4 indoors, 1/4 outdoors. Desert environment so if you want to spend time in the outdoor part come early or late and bring a hat.

Transportation service
Cruz del Sur is a popular bus company in Peru known for its excellent customer service and comfortable travel experience. The station is small, clean, and offers plenty of seating space. Travelers have praised the helpful staff at the station who provide tips and advice, making waiting for buses an enjoyable experience. Passengers also appreciate the security and comfort provided at the station, allowing them to relax while waiting for their journeys. Additionally, passengers on certain routes receive complimentary snacks and water during their trips.
You don't want to spend hours at a bus terminal but if you have to this place is comfortable enough. They have a private waiting room in the back.
Don M — Google review
The busses are generally nice, but always late. We’ve just waited for an hour and a half - in the end, the 23.45 bus showed up before our 22.20 intended departure was here. This I can generally live with - but there’s zero info given (even in Spanish). If the bus is an hour and a half late, just tell us, so we can do something
R. B — Google review
Probably the worst organization i‘ve seen in my whole life. We gave them our luggage in the afternoon to go on a tour to the nazca lines. After we came back to the bus station to pick up some warm clothes for the evening (our bus departed at 23:55, 14 Degrees Celcius), they told us that our luggage has been sent to arequipa with a bus that departed earlier. So we sat in jeans and tshirts in the waiting area, which has open doors, so its windy and cold, for several hours. Two of our group of three are feeling sick now, which is quite nice, as we want to go hiking in the following days. Never again, choose your bus line carefully.
Felix — Google review
The Bus was 30 minutes late without an announcement. While our luggage was already in a waiting area for the bus, employees of Cruz del Sur STOLE my expensive perfume and my after shave.
Alexander H — Google review
Fantastic well organised did lot of traveling around Peru with this company highly recomend them if have choice would always travel with them
Will D — Google review
I was helped out by Bryan at Cruz Del Sur and he was super helpful. Gave me tips and advice — very welcoming. Great experience at the bus station with him around (had to stay at the bus station for a few hours before my Nazca flight and early morning bus drop-off). Also, specially pertaining to Cruz Del Sur, they have great customer service. I changed my bus to an earlier option in person on the day. They also give a free bag of snacks and water on the Ica to Arequipa trip. All buses air conditioned and good feet space. Highly recommend Cruz Del Sur. Felt safe alone at the bus station as solo traveller.

It was a pleasant experience for us with good security and comfort.

Small, so easy to find your way around. Pretty clean, and plenty of seating space. Do be aware that you have to wait in the upstairs waiting area, and they call out for a specific destination, so make sure you pay attention, or you might miss your bus.

History Museums
The Museo Arqueológico Antonini in Nazca, Peru, showcases a significant portion of the discoveries made by the Proyecto Nazca Italian mission from 1982 to 2011. The museum complex spans an interior area of 750 square meters and is accompanied by a 1600-square-meter archaeological park featuring life-sized reconstructions of tombs.
It is quite informational if you want to understand the history. It was sponsored by foreign NGO which is quite amazing. You get to see some really cool artifacts…

Nice museum with a great collection of textiles and ceramics. Well organised and displayed. Worth a visit.
Gordon W — Google review
Fascinating museum with a good range of artefacts. A little tired and in need of maintenance and updating but still well worth a visit.
Tom M — Google review
Worth a visit if you have spare time in Nasca or if you're really interested in culture and history.
Yuanzhen L — Google review
Nice museum, it has 2 parts one in the inside and the other on the outside were you can see representations of the Nazca lines. 20 soles the entrance.
Miguel M — Google review
Uninterested staff. The entrance is uninviting (since the door is closed). No places to sit to read the extensive map with information in English. If you do sit on a stair (when there is literally no one in the museum), it's not allowed. That's ridiculous, how do you expect us to read the map with information? Some of the pieces in the museum are interesting, if you like artifacts. Overall a very disappointing experience.
Rob H — Google review
Great exhibition with a lot of dated artifacts, a bit pricy (20 soles), the numerous explanations were only in Spanish

Nazka Restobar is a renowned Peruvian restaurant located in Nasca, Peru. It's famous for its delicious seafood dishes, particularly the duo marino and exquisite ceviche. With a capacity for 100 people, it offers delivery and takeout services. Visitors have praised the attentive staff and tasty meals, recommending it as an ideal stop before catching a bus or while waiting for tours.
If you have to stop and wait at Mom's Cafe for the tours, this place has fast, great food. 3 doors down from tour drop-off spot.
Dex T — Google review
The place is nice, convenient for Cruz del Sur station. However, food is overpriced and mediocre. 60 sol for one (ONE) quesadilla, a very sad burger with even sadder chips, and juice. The latter was really good and fresh, though. 2 stars for the juice and atmosphere.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the vibrant main square of Nazca, Hostel Nasca Lodge is a delightful haven for travelers seeking comfort and community. With options ranging from four-bed dorms to private rooms, this colorful hostel caters to various preferences. Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi and TV, making it an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the area.
Maribel was the most amazing host I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying with. She was extremely helpful in providing information on the Nazca lines and other attractions around the city. She was dependent and reliable, helping book bus tickets and my overflight as well as booking taxis to our bus stop. We stayed connected through WhatsApp. Moreover, the beds were some of the comfiest in Peru, getting us the best nights sleep. Coca tea breakfast was calm, relaxing, and energizing. Overall an amazing experience and that’s because of Maribelle and the people at Nasca Lodge. 100% recommend staying here if you are coming to Nasca.
Dom T — Google review
Perfect place to stay in Nazca! We ended up extending our stay to three nights. It is incredibly clean, and we could choose between two rooms, depending on what suited us best. Maribel was very helpful, both with late check-in, ordering a taxi and helping us book tours. We got the flights over the Nazca lines with a 20% discount including transportation to and from the airport. She also uses a company that has good ratings. She helped us book a fantastic tour to Cerro Blanco. In the end, she allowed us to check out a little later than officially, so we could wash the sand off. The location is very close to the center, and even when walking around after dark, it feels safe. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!
Birka H — Google review
Amazing place to stay in Nasca. I arrived with nothing booked and only one day, Maribel helped me organise a flight and a trip to Cahuachi with a fantastic guide all for really good prices. She has so much useful information and shares it very willingly. I wouldn’t have been able to make the most of my time in Nasca and learn so much about the history and culture if it weren’t for her. A lovely welcome, comfy dorm beds and very clean! Thank you Maribel & family.
Jess S — Google review
This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Nazca. Although the street where it is located is not appealing, the hotel in itself is very clean, the beds very comfortable, and the bathroom has hot shower. But the best quality of the hotel is Maribel, who will gladly help you book tours and buses, and give you her advice about what to do and where to eat.
Johan J — Google review
Excellent small hotel, five minutes from the plaza del Armas. The host, Maribel, was great, providing guidance about visiting the Nasca Lines, then she made all the reservations. The room was clean and comfortable. Strong recommend.
Gerald T — Google review
10/10 recommend this hostel. It’s super clean, homely and the staff is lovely and SO helpful. The lady at reception gave us loads of tips and was welcoming while we came back to the hotel throughout the day after we checked out and before our night bus. This help really stood out compared to other hostels we’ve stayed in. Gracias!!
B A — Google review
Really nice hostal! Lovely helpful owner - gave us recommendations for restaurant, parking and activities. Went to the Planetarium (history of the lines) at her suggestion, it was great! Will also do breakfast for small fee. Recommended!
Sue B — Google review
My friend and I stayed here during February 2023 and it was great! Maribelle was the best hotel host/manager that we could have asked for and organised our Nazca lines flight with a great reputable company. She also gave us lots of advice with regards to activities and restaurants in the area. The breakfast provided in the morning was good aswell. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean we couldn’t ask for anything more. All of that at a great price. Overall a really great stay and a great hotel.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Acueductos de Cantalloc, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Los Paredones. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Ancient Ruins
Located about 4 kilometers from the center of Nazca, Acueductos de Cantalloc is an archaeological site that features a remarkable network of spiral stone aqueducts constructed by the ancient Nazca culture. These underground aqueducts, known as puquios, were designed to irrigate crops in the desert region. The channels were ingeniously roofed with stones and wood planks, and strategically placed access points allowed for cleaning and maintenance.
Amazing technology of the Nazca people on how they brought water to a desert. Worth going with a guide to truly appreciate how advanced the Nazca were. 2000 years ago this was built and is still being used today.
Sean R — Google review
Gotta hand it to the Nazca people—building something that still works 1,500 years later is no small feat. These ancient aqueducts are an engineering flex, and yeah, that’s pretty damn cool. But let’s be real: once you’ve seen one perfectly spiraled well in the desert, you’ve seen them all. The tour is quick, the history is fascinating, and if your itinerary has some breathing room, it’s worth a stop. Just don’t expect an Indiana Jones adventure—this one’s more of a casual nod to human ingenuity.
Rich P — Google review
Interesting site to admire technical skills of Inca. You can do a visit in 30 minutes. Taxi drive from city centre cots 10 Soles.
Jiří K — Google review
Fascinating and beautiful place. Incredible that it was made so long ago and still in use. The water was so fresh, and cool to be able to touch it - and the fish!
Sam S — Google review
Interesting place to visit, with impressive ancient aqueducts. The only downside is that there’s very little information on-site, so you don’t fully understand the history unless you look it up before. Still worth a quick stop!
Adrian H — Google review
It is quite amazing how the ancient people manage this . Most of acueductos are dry. But I like the idea they made. 10 soles for visiting (included other places)
Temsiri T — Google review
A fantastic piece of archaeology. Unfortunately not celebrated as a touristic destination, with no real notices describing the history etc. we hired a local guide, who was able to explain the structures
PALLAB R — Google review
Aside from the 17 spiralling holes and the 11km long aquaduct, you can also see a geoglyph in the shape of a puma’s head in the distance and prickly pear cacti with cochineals. As always, a good guide goes a long way.

Mirador El Telar

Nestled along the Pan-American Highway, Mirador El Telar offers a unique vantage point to witness some of the enigmatic Nazca Lines. Located about 20 km north of Nazca, this metal lookout tower provides an oblique view of three fascinating geoglyphs: the lizard, tree, and hands (or frog). While it lacks extensive informational resources or guided tours, visitors can still appreciate these ancient designs from a height that enhances their visibility.

I really didn't like this site. there is literally nothing to see here apart from the lines which you probably already know from Nazca Lines aerial tours. The only thing that might be exciting is actually climbing the whole mountain as it looks like good hike,f osuperb views of the whole valley. More, the town nearby is so full of garbage!! it's just a sad site considering our current issue with the environment. It also does not look safe to walk around so I suggest to ask the taxi driver to wait for you to go back to Nazca...
Mateusz K — Google review
(Translated by Google) It's pretty nice up here. However, entry costs 10/s per person. From Nazca center to the entrance by taxi approx. 10/s. Recommendation: Be at the top at sunset (6 p.m.), bring snacks and simply climb a little further up than the "platforms". Back to the center: Go down to the main street and just hail a taxi. (5/s is possible) (Original) Es ist ganz schön hier oben. Eintritt kostet allerdings 10/s p.P. Vom Nazca Zentrum bis zum Eingang mit dem Taxi ca. 10/s. Zurück ins Zentrum: Runter zur Hauptstraße und einfach ein Taxi anhalten. (5/s ist möglich)

The view is still beautiful, be careful with the sand swirls, they can touch you, but they are not very strong. Let's hope they reinforce these places and protect them as they should.

Well worth a visit. There was no one else around when I went. It has multiple good miradors and offers more peace while viewing. It is impressive and calm. You can see lines and some spirals. Photogenic and nice scenery.

Hot! But nice view. There is a path that you can walk around but you won't see the line much. It is better to see from Mirador. I also was walking randomly on the hill and found a small community with heaps of dog near by ..(I would not suggest to walk there coz you can get bite )

Los Paredones is an Inca archaeological site located in a rocky desert setting. It was once a trade center where wool from the mountains was exchanged for cotton from the coast. The ruins can be easily reached on foot from Nasca Town, following a specific route. The site features stone and adobe ruins, with perfectly geometric windows that showcase impressive ancient architecture.
My girlfriend and I just arrived in the inca empire and came to this administration centre for the migration office to get the immigration stamps into our passports. I have to say: I am shocked about this place! We couldn't find any inca officials. The opening hours are not clearly declared and the inca administration is not reachable by phone! The condition of the buildings also was absolutely shocking! This place is a ruin!!!

Is ok. You can see the Nazca town from here . Actually you can access from many part of Nazca . It is open area . Make sure you bring enough water and put on suncream and a hat. 10 soles for the ticket but I didn't see the ticket office.

Interesting stop, but not a must-see. It can't compete with the other attractions in the area.
Eric S — Google review
Erm. You maybe need to be into archaeology to dig this. A 10 minute walk around what is basically some structurally er there but unimpressive ruins. Ticket was I think around ten bucks but was four for sites, this just being one of them. No signage a shame.

10 Soles admission to three locations is not expensive. We were impressed by the excavation site and the old walls. If you have a day in Nasca, you should definitely visit this place. But we thought it was a shame that there were no information boards. There was only a small brochure with little information. The garbage around should be removed!

Small inca admin site dating back to 1400s. Nothing crazy but worth a walk around. No signage though

Los Chinitos del Cilindro is a must-visit for travelers seeking an authentic and delightful dining experience. This local gem offers delicious charcoal-grilled meats, with the pork belly and veal sweetbreads standing out thanks to their excellent flavors and different marinades. The friendly service adds to the welcoming ambiance, making it a perfect spot for meat lovers looking for something special.
Highly recommend. Pork ribs with chips(papas fritas) was so good I had to order another potion. So far the best papas fritas in Perú. The only thing missing was wine, but I had a beer instead. Friendly staff and good service.

Heavenly crispy and tender pork ribs (porkbelly). Just WOW. Great athmosphere. Local. Go if you want a good BBQ. Love it.

This is exactly where you wanna go when travelling! Plain, delicious, friendly, local! No tourist trap but 100% authentic. Vegetarians might struggle, BBQ lovers will be more than delighted. Super tender and tasty charcoal-grilled meat (we had the chicken filets and wings). The service is very kind and patient (the young lady really put up with our non-existent Spanish while we tried to make slight alterations to our order 😅). Prices are reasonable also (two sumptuous mains and two large beers for 82 soles).

It was fine. The restaurant was decorated really nicely but the flashing lights were a bit too much. The service was also fine but we asked for no raw vegetables in our meal (doctor's orders), she reassured us everything was cooked, then brought out raw vegetables. Lastly, the food was fine but a bit bland and fatty and the fries were soggy. The burger patty tasted like they mixed it with something (maybe cornmeal or flour) so the texture was a bit off. It was fine for one night but not the best. The prices are good.

(Translated by Google) A dream for meat lovers who are looking for something special. The pork belly and the sweetbreads tasted excellent thanks to different marinades, loving preparation on the charcoal grill and spicy sauces. The service is friendly and happy to communicate with tourists. The ambience suits the location. We paid 78 soles for two sumptuous main courses and two cervesas. Extremely fair! We can fully recommend this restaurant!
