Large and beautiful wooden church. Amazing interior and vaulted, wooden ceilings!
Michael C — Google review
A beautifully crafted church that blends intricate woodworking with designs that still look modern with windows perfectly positioned that let in lots of natural sunlight that give it a beautifully warm feeling. Located near the central plaza, it’s a centerpiece for the town. Definitely worth making a stop if you’re in the area or visiting from nearby.

I was truly impressed by the well-written texts that describe and accompany the various artifacts housed in this museum. I walked in and out knowing much more about this archipelago. Something worth noting: admission is free.

(Translated by Google) A very good location, next to Castro Square. The restaurant has a great view and is very nice. On the downside, the service from the valet was poor (they have very little parking). I was even scolded for a trivial matter; I didn't even want to argue, I just listened. Another very negative point is that when I returned at night, they had dogs at the entrance. Apparently, the night staff looks after them. They were fierce, and I couldn't get into the hotel. I had to ask for help. I stayed on the second floor, and the internet was very poor. I wanted to work, but I had to go somewhere else.

Café Blanco is a delightful spot that offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal or an afternoon treat. The café serves up delicious hag eggs and tomatoes, complemented by big, flavorful salads and sandwiches at reasonable prices. While the bread may be on the plain side, the standout dishes like their amazing cakes—especially the tiramisu with raspberries—make it worth your visit.

Good cafe. We hag eggs and tomatoes. A little too much boring bread but the eggs were very good. It can be busy at times. Update: Visiting many times for coffee and a cake. A very nice place. The cakes are a little much as they are in South America but fresh. I miss other cake options. After two months I have only seen Rollo de Canela 3 times, but it could be great had they more different kind like this always for when you are not in the mood for the big cakes.

Cafe Plaza is a highly recommended restaurant with excellent attention and high-quality food. The prices are reasonable, and the service provided is top-notch, catering to all customer needs from the very beginning. The owner of the establishment even went the extra mile by giving complimentary chocolates, adding a personal touch to the overall experience. Although it is true due to the season and the high demand for visiting it, the wait was long, the food was of a very good standard, fresh and well prepared products. Bar
Visited Barra Cervecera after a bus trip from Puerto Montt and was informed that only food and beer were available. The waiter was very helpful, using his phone to translate the menu and then having the chef communicate in English. Because it was Valentine's Day, they had a special offer of a two-course meal with one drink. The beef and salmon dishes were delicious, along with the tarts for dessert. They also had an excellent selection of craft beers.
Great selection of locally brewed beers. 16 taps and four fridges full with flask beers from all over.
Joakim A — Google review
Friendly staff, speaks English and the bar had a nice vibe. Also a large, for Chilean customs, terrace at the back. Good music. However, this beer bar doesn't have a lot of the beers they advertise with, so if you are looking to have a nice Belgium, German or Dutch beer, there is a bog chance they won't have it.
Jip J — Google review
Customer service is non-existing. The bartender made me wait for 5 minutes to then tell me that I needed to wait for the change of shift to be served. How long? No one knows because his replacement wasn’t even there yet! Ended up leaving and going elsewhere.
Adri S — Google review
Nice bar and a good selection of different beers. The food is well made and fresh made. A perfect stop up or down hill.
Jens O — Google review
Went to get a beer after bus journey from Puerto Montt and was advised only food plus beer available. Very helpful waiter who translated dishes for us on his phone and then the chef spoke to us in English. She said as it was 'love day ' (it's 14 February) they had a two course meal with one drink offer. Delicious beef and salmon dishes plus tarts for pud; very good range of craft beer.
JohnandLyndon C — Google review
We had so much fun at this bar/brewery. They don't speak much English, but if you love beer, they'll help you figure it out! The bartender the day we were there was very quick and sweet. She gave us tastes if different beers to see if we would like them. Their food was great for bar food. Get the french fries with the native, local potatoes. They're delish! If you're in town, stop by!
Monika P — Google review
Really poor lunch service! After ordering our lunch of champignon soup we waited 30 minutes to then be informed that they were out of this soup. The chicken burger we then ordered was overly salty and not particularly good. The bar has a very good selection of beer and I appreciate their high 4.4 rating, but our experience was very poor. Hopefully yours isn’t. This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to rate a place poorly.

So I recommend bringing your small bottle of white wine and eating some oysters or other seafood at the fishmongers on the first floor. The craft fair on the 2nd floor lacks more local crafts. It reminded me a lot of the markets in Madrid. Originally constructed by fishermen seeking proximity to their catch, these charming wooden houses perched on stilts have withstood the test of time. Today, many have transformed into vibrant shops, cozy hotels, and delightful restaurants that draw visitors from around the globe.
Absolutely beautiful spot to look at the beautifully colored houses over the water which have been restored and kept in an extremely respectable position while learning about the rich history for the reason of these over water dwellings.

(Translated by Google) For a historical and cultural heritage site on the island, they're incredibly dirty and neglected. The swamp where they live is filled with filth and garbage. The plaza is covered in graffiti. But the worst part is seeing them flush their poop from their toilets directly into the ground/sea (in case you want to know which house, looking at them head-on: the first one on the left, pink/salmon).

I recently spent a few days at Hostal Torre de Babel, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The location is perfect, offering easy access to everything you need. The hostel itself is impeccably clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the essentials. Besides, the owner of the hostal was really kind, and incredibly welcoming, they went above and beyond to ensure I felt at home. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended! 😊

The place is very nice and clean. The hosts are friendly and will help you with everything you need. They offer a secure parking place which needs to be reserved before arriving. For me personally it was i bit too cold and there was no heater in the room. The room we stayed smelled a little musty, I guess this is related to the cold air.

Had a great stay here, and felt like my home for the week. Roberto was an exceptional host and went out of his way to make sure I had a comfortable stay and made the most out of my time in Chiloe. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Chiloe.

My home when visiting the beautiful island of Chiloe! If I could give Roberto and his hostal 6 stars, I would! This is a well-maintained, clean and homey hostal. The owner is kind, friendly and caring. When I didn’t feel very well, he took good care of me. I felt very much at home. The bed was of great quality, so I slept like a baby! The bathroom has a nice bath and shower with good pressure and warm water. The kitchen was super well-equipped, so you can prepare your own meals. I truly loved staying at this place and I hope that I can come back! Muchas gracias, Roberto! 🙏

Kunge Restobar is a trendy establishment that offers top-notch cuisine and cocktails in a contemporary and enjoyable setting. The prices are justified by the exceptional quality they provide. If you're willing to splurge for delicious food and a pleasant ambiance, this place comes highly recommended. Additionally, their coffee, lemon pie, and customer service are outstanding. The amiable owner and their welcoming attitude create a warm atmosphere.
I went to Künge for the Dua Lipa Show and to sum it up in one word: it was fantastic! Felipe and Javier conjure up great cocktails and offer excellent attentive service. They are very friendly and do everything to make you feel comfortable as a guest. The vegan option from the menu is very creative, tasty and filling. That evening I met great people and experienced a great show. Valeria Carreno sings fantastically and performs first-class, as does her dance partner. The karaoke afterwards was fun and a great experience. The atmosphere was bombastic. Price-performance ratio is consistent and fair. I would love to come back and definitely recommend Künge!

A group of 11 people decided to visit Encanto Chilote Palafito, a restaurant that appeared open on Google Maps. However, upon arrival, they were informed that there was a private party taking place and the restaurant would only start accepting the public at 16:30. Despite being hungry, they decided to take a walk around and capture some pictures while waiting for the restaurant to open. Finally, when they returned, they were pleased to find their table ready on the upper floor.

We stumbled on this place and decided to come in. We were happily surprised when we saw that the restaurant was gorgeous with a panoramic view of the water and we arrived around sunset! We got very lucky. We ordered the ceviche salmon tartar the cooked salmon and res y setas and passion fruit juice. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The only issue we had is we didn’t finish our food and wanted take away containers but they were out. They worked with us to use foil to allow us to take our left overs. I would recommend!

Skip this one, go to the central market / Yumbel …. upstairs is where the good food is 1/2 the price. Like music(accordion player). We weren’t impressed, we don’t post “bad” reviews… it was just not up to par for this area..my fish and chips was ok, my partner had PailaMarina, it wasn’t cleaned well, she had some sand and sea weed in her broth, a little tummy distress in the morning. You get none of that in the market. Super fresh, clean, big portion, super affordable. But you have to go for lunch …. Not dinner Eat well, travel well, buen provecho… peace Travel well eat well….

(Translated by Google) Everything was horrible, in my case it could even be called a scam. I was supposed to order premium sake with ceviche and gyozas. And none of that came. The rolls were terrible, they only had ingredients on top and were poorly made. They offered to give me the gyozas the next time I buy... That level of nonsense and audacity. I had to go back to the restaurant to return the sushi (of which I didn't eat any) and get my money back. But the time and fuel spent going back and forth to the restaurant twice, no one will reimburse me. The staff was terrible; they were defensive and unapologetic. If you're thinking of buying there, please think twice. The Museo de Arte Moderno Chiloé is a captivating art museum located on Chiloé Island, showcasing an impressive collection of Chilean artworks. Housed in a barnlike interior with exposed timber beams, this unique venue offers a beautiful and rustic setting for experiencing contemporary art. The museum's repurposed old farm buildings and houses create stunning spaces that enhance the overall ambiance. With carefully curated exhibits and a friendly vibe, visitors will find themselves immersed in an enriching artistic experience.
Excellent space to see contemporary art on Chiole Island. Beautiful spaces created from old farm buildings and houses. I visited on opening day for a new exhibition, and had a chance to meet one of the artists. Friendly vibe. Put some money in the suggested donation box to support this place! This is one of the most unique and interesting museums. It is not large, but the setting, inside a repurposed large wooden building, is very cool. Exhibits were great and well curated layout. Well worth the distance out of town. You can take a collective taxi marked 3, and they will drop you off at the museum.

Love how they are revitalizing patrimonial infrastructure...but it is a ways away and inaccessible by the people of Castro. Hopefully one day they will have bus service to and from town. Exhibitions were amazing though, especially from Huilliche artist Juvenal Barría. Highly recommend!
Alison G — Google review
It was difficult to find. The area is ill kept, and did not see a permanent collection of artists of Chiloe. Critics of the museum point out it has not been exhibiting local artists. The museum could make money for the local artisans, but that was also lacking. For being the most important museum of modern art in south Chile, a disappointment.

Los Adobes de Putemun is a remarkable eatery that offers exceptional empanadas, widely regarded as the finest on the island. Additionally, their bread complemented with chicharrones is truly extraordinary. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and provides an enjoyable dining experience.

Restaurant
Nestled at kilometer 3.6 on the scenic route to Rilan, Restaurant Rucalaf—meaning "happy hour" in Mapudungun—offers a delightful dining experience with stunning views of the Putemun wetland. Managed by Claudio Monje, this charming eatery features a limited number of tables, ensuring an intimate atmosphere that fills up quickly, so reservations are highly recommended.
We got it recommended by our host and it’s been definitely worth it. Got there at around 6pm and found a table without reservation…got pretty crowded at around seven, so I guess we’ve been lucky. Food variety was plenty and lots of fresh seafood dishes. We’ve been greeted friendly and even though my Spanish is near to nothing the waitress tried her best to explain the dishes and give recommendations. Everything we had from starter to dessert was delicious and super nice organized on the plates. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and warm. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

No doubt this is one of the best restaurants on the island. Food has an amazing Chiloé fusion, with very distinctive features. There's cerveza artesanal to try, I strongly recommend it. Although the food is awesome, this year there was a lot of dishes missing on the menu and it was not as good as the year before. I hope it was just a one time thing.

Very good I’m too lazy to do a Spanish review as well but we got the seafood meal I forgot what it was on the menu. It was a traditional Chilean meal and it was very good. It even had octopus tentacles which was my first time trying it was actually surprisingly tasty lol. Overall really skibidi and I recommend coming here because it’s so good and they have vegetarian options and really good natural juice. Also they even have crayons for coloring. Don’t mind the drawing I made of gigachad 💀

I don’t know why this review keeps disappearing. Service: What I really don’t like is when people are lying. My boyfriend made a reservation more than one month before Valentine’s. When we arrived they gave us one of worst tables: Directly in front of the bar, loud area, in the middle of everyone. The girl (she has red-ginger girl and something like long earring on her nose) who is working there said that the table next to the window was reserved by someone else before my boyfriend made a reservation, which was not true. The couple which came long after us, didn’t reserve the table after my boyfriend. That couple ordered only one meal to share and left the restaurant. My boyfriend and I had 2 of entrees, 2 main dishes, few drinks and dessert. We complained about the table also to the other girl (with brown hair), she said that she will check and try to arrange something, but later she didn’t give us any response and completely ignored the situation. Anyway, isn’t it common sense that if someone calls more than a month before to make a reservation, that you ensure this person has a good table? Transportation to the restaurant: If you don’t have a car or if you are going to drink alcohol, you have to take a taxi/uber, which is not cheap and might be hard to get. Ambient: A lot of noise. Certainly not adapted for Valentine’s Day. I don’t understand why, at least for Valentine’s Day, they didn’t move the blender in the kitchen or somewhere else, but they were mixing drinks directly next to table where people are eating. I almost couldn’t hear any music because of that and sometimes it would be hard to talk to my partner. I liked the music but in the same time, they were putting music like “Someone like you” by Adele, which I love but is absurd to put sad love songs for Valentine’s. The view of the field is beautiful. For decoration they put a flower on each table. Menu: They have whole menu written directly next to the entrance, but near the table where other people are eating. You must read it there or take a photo, because they don’t have any printed or online menu. It is probably a little bit awkward for the couple which seats next to the menu, and have people standing and reading it. I suggest to the restaurant to create online menu, which can be accessed by QR code. Food: Pricey, good looking, but no special taste. We had: 1. Oysters (9000 clp): It seemed to be fresh, but each oyster was small. It was my favourite food that evening. 2. Sea urchin (13000 clp): Normally, sea urchin has very intense taste. In case of this restaurant, I couldn’t feel any taste. The problem was that ceviche was too strong to put sea urchin in it. Ceviche liquid was great, but we paid to taste sea urchin which we couldn’t. Maybe they should change the way of preparation? Also, in the menu it was written “erizos en su caldo” - it was not written it would come as an actual ceviche. 3. Salmon ravioli (15500 clp): Ok taste, nothing special. 4. Wild boar (18000 clp): Meat was dry. Too less sauce. 5. Cheesecake: Doesn’t taste like a cheesecake. Didn’t really have any taste. Nice design. Drink: Wine was good.

Prices are on the upper range at this great restaurant. The ambient is well decorated and the view is amazing from every table the dishes that change every other day are well prepared and very tasty. We had gnocchi and octopus, which were both very nice and prepared to perfection, the desert, a rosemary, crème brûlée, was also excellent, and the staff is very kind.

At $15 this was the most expensive ceviche I've ever had in South America, so i thought maybe it will be big or very good but no. Starter size and the fish wasn't very high quality. Should be maybe $8 even at this kind of place. But why sell it for 8 if you can sell for 15 right? No wifi, just for themselves.

La Cevichería Gourmet offers an exceptional dining experience with its delectable ceviche dishes. The menu includes options such as salmon and white fish or vegetarian variations, all of which are truly splendid. This restaurant is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts as the freshness of their offerings is unparalleled. Additionally, the 'tabla' of fish provides a unique and delightful experience, complemented by excellent pisco cocktails.
Different experience with fish, we had the "tabla" of fish and was delicious, the pisco very good, the service to!

After exploring Cartas and viewing the stilt houses, our group of two couples picked this restaurant for lunch based on the reviews. Excellent choice! They serve “almuerzo” style, which is a daily selection of 13 different set lunches for either $6 or $9 dollars per lunch based on the dish. Everything we had was homemade, cooked to order, hot and delicious. We enjoyed four beers, two Chilean bottles of wine (a delicious Cabernet) four entrées, and one shared appetizer (ALOT!) for $26 per couple, including the tip. This is not a tourist restaurant, by 1:30 in the afternoon the restaurant was completely full with locals. Everything is in Spanish, so we had to translate the lunch menus. The service was great and the waitress helpful. Highly recommend for an authentic experience, quality and pricing. The wine was so delicious that we took a picture and went to a local bodega and each bought two bottles of the wine for $3 per bottle! You have to love Chile!

Please don’t support this restaurant! You cannot bring a dog into the restaurant. They ask you to leave the dog outside in the cold and justify it with a law that doesn’t exist. That’s a) lying and b) a cruel regulation of a different century.

(Translated by Google) It has the 3Bs, but instead of good, it is Exquisite✨, good food, good place, good service. Of course, you have to arrive early because the portions are not enough, after 3 in the afternoon it is difficult to find something specific. But they do not disappoint, this week we have returned twice because it is a place that does not fail. PS: the desserts, exquisite.
