Santiago del Estero in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Santiago del Estero, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Santiago del Estero is often called the “mother of cities,” known as one of Argentina’s oldest Spanish-founded settlements, with historic churches, shaded plazas and museums that trace the country’s early colonial past. The city is a cradle of Argentine folklore, especially chacarera and zamba, with peñas and festivals where live music and dance are central. Its dry, warm climate and relaxed pace give it a different feel from Argentina’s bigger urban centers, and the nearby Río Dulce area adds simple outdoor options like riverside walks and birdwatching.
With favorites like Itamae Sushi, Pizzería K-My, and Catedral Basílica Nuestra Señora del Carmen, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Mia Mamma and Itamae Sushi so you can get the best taste of Santiago del Estero while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

It´s a representative place in the city due to its location, downtown. Everybody seems to be gathering there, especially the youngsters. There are many cafes and places to eat around it. And you can relax in one of the benches, sunbathe or take a break while running errands.

(Translated by Google) If you are looking for a place to have a good beer in Sgo, here is a nice air-conditioned place, quiet music, football, personal style. Patio I think smoker attention well. Wait more, clean bathrooms. Order the Honey (in a jug) it is more economical, stout is also good toasted with a taste of coffee. The normal loin smaller than the competition's delicious bread. Bacon left in the kitchen came half feta on my sandwich. Mayonnaise 10 points, the burger would be a few grams more, it is at the same price as the tenderloin. The potatoes are not as big as in the photo and it seems that they come rustic, that is not the case. The 3 cheeses are medium small. But the beer makes up for it. If you are going to drink at least 3 jugs, the recharger is cheaper and you keep the container or as a souvenir or you take home a charger for 180p, I did that. Keep improving places like this in SGO. Prices Greetings... obvious craft beer. (Translated by Google) The history of its existence dates back to 1565 in an unspecified location in the city. It was erected as a Cathedral by the Papal Bull of Pope Pius V on May 14, 1570, under the patronage of Saints Peter and Paul. The arrival of Fray Francisco de Victoria in 1581 gave rise to the first Cathedral not only of Santiago, but of the future of Argentina. In its long history, it has been built no less than five times. The second building, erected in 1612, was destroyed by a great fire in 1615. Led by Dean Juan Ocampo Jaramillo, the neighborhood completed its third building with limited materials, which was inaugurated on January 30, 1617. A flood in 1627 devastated its fragile structure. In October 1686, the works were completed for the fourth time, under the direction of Don Melchor Suárez de la Concha, in the current location. The city suffered an earthquake in 1817, leaving the Cathedral in ruins. On January 13, 1877, it was inaugurated for the fifth time. The works were carried out by Agustín and Nicolás Cánepa, by order of Governor Don Manuel Taboada. It was declared a National Historic Monument by Decree No. 13,723 of July 28, 1953. It has the oldest Marian Brotherhood of Santiago del Estero, that of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, founded in 1946. The Council named it Patroness on April 11, 1760. The image that today presides over the main altar was donated by Don Luis Frías in 1942 and was originally from Lima, Peru. It displays gold carabiners and a brooch that belonged to Dona Lorenza Urrejola de Frías. When the Brotherhood's centennial was celebrated in 1946, Governor Colonel Aristóbulo Mittelbach imposed the image, the sash and the sash of a General of the Army. In 1950, Governor Carlos Juárez placed in his hands a command baton (made of itín wood, with a handle and tip of carved silver, with precious stones set in gold), a gift from Father Ángel Agrelo.

(Translated by Google) It was a varied experience. The atmosphere was very well prepared, the decoration and ambiance were excellent. Excellent service from Matías, very professional. I think we experienced bad luck that they had a problem in the kitchen, so our order took longer than usual. We were waiting for a little more than 2 hours. It is appreciated that in the middle, to appease the wait, they brought us some appetizers, and at the end the manager came up to apologize on behalf of the establishment, and as a courtesy they offered us some glasses of champagne. Regarding the sushi itself, I don't know if it was due to the aforementioned inconvenience, but the sushi pieces seemed small to me. And a little disarmed. Smaller portions than what I tried in other places, but very tasty. Anyway, I can't leave a very good review on this occasion, because of what we went through, but it would be a matter of returning at another time.

(Translated by Google) Terrible service. I can't comment on the quality of the food since I didn't get to try it, so I'm just going to comment on the quality of their service. I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to place an order for pickup or delivery, and I always received the same response: "We don't offer that service TODAY." However, on Instagram, they share images stating that they offer home delivery, as well as images of customers eating in the comfort of their homes. They create confusion and, at the same time, displeasure among their customers. I wouldn't recommend them TODAY.

Upon entering the door, Nancy's warm welcome marks the beginning of a journey that combines gastronomic excellence with customer service that borders on the extraordinary. At the table, Gloria becomes your personal guide. With a captivating sweetness and kindness, her recommendations never fail. Each suggestion seems tailor-made, leaving the feeling that each dish is prepared especially for you. Her attention to detail and passion for what she does manage to transform a simple dinner into a memorable experience. The bar, meanwhile, is run by an impeccable bartender. Each cocktail is crafted with a level of precision and elegance that reveals his commitment to perfection. Polite and professional, his work complements the experience masterfully. Of course, the heart of IZUMI Sushi is its cuisine, which stands out as one of the best in Santiago del Estero, especially considering the limitations of the Asian cuisine offered compared to cities like Buenos Aires. The flavors are fresh, authentic, and meticulously balanced, making this restaurant an undisputed benchmark for Japanese cuisine in the region. Even the delivery service reflects IZUMI's commitment to excellence, ensuring that quality is not lost even outside the dining room. However, it's people like Nancy, Gloria, and the bartender who elevate this experience to the next level. Their dedication and warmth are the soul of this place. IZUMI Sushi is not just a restaurant; it's a destination where every visit leaves an indelible mark. From the moment you enter until you leave, every detail is designed so that you enjoy not only the food, but everything the team has to offer. And that's why I will keep coming back, not only for its incredible flavors, but also for the people who make each visit unforgettable.

The cadet in the world of technology did NOT have a cell phone. A MOCKING attention. They didn't know any more streets, they don't know the faculty. You should sell in Alaska, maybe the location will be easier.
