Selinunte Archaeological Park is a captivating site in Sicily, showcasing the remains of a 7th-century BC trade settlement, including temple areas and a marketplace. Despite the temples' significant deterioration, they remain impressive. The park is vast and may require a full day to explore, but shuttles are available for convenience. While some sections may be closed at certain times, visitors can still enjoy the free museum with abundant historical information.
Beautiful place, went in June around 11 am and it wasn’t crowded, really nice views of monuments and the beach. Also liked that tourists were really diverse, there were Italians there too and not solely one nationality. Lastly, if you’re young there’s also a discount, so the ticket end up costing 10 euros. Parking is free and near the area but I’d recommend purchasing the shuttle inside the Parco just to make the experience more enjoyable and if it’s sunny it’s also a wise choice. There’s a little bar near the temple close to the beach and also a restaurant outside.

While this wonderful and expansive archaeological park may not be as popular as the Valley of Temples in Agrigento, I enjoyed it more. It's truly a magnificent and no less significant site than Agrigento. I took nearly 500 photos on my visit and I still didn't get to all of the major sights here. Due perhaps to its far Southwest location here, it's a lot less busy than other archaeological sites in the Southeast.
David F — Google review
The largest UNESco archaeological world Heritage site in Europe set over a beautifully kept area leading onto the coast. This iconic UNESCO site features eight temples constructed between 510 BC and 430 BC. The Temple of Concordia is amazing-remarkably intact after 2,500 years and wonderful to walk around. I visited one afternoon in October 2025. Not many people around - it felt like we had the temple to ourselves! I purchased a ticket for the site and a bus that covered half the site. If I were to come again I would plan a whole day trip. It cost €25 for entry and ride for half the site, but I thought it was worth it.
Frances N — Google review
Such an impressive place! The Archaeological Park of Selinunte is huge and absolutely fascinating. When we visited, there were only a few people around, so it felt peaceful and almost magical. You can walk (and even climb a bit) around the ancient ruins, which makes it even more special. For those who don’t want to walk too far, there’s a shuttle service super convenient. Definitely worth a visit! 🏛️☀️🇮🇹

Absolutely magnificent ancient Greek site! Selinunte is an incredible journey back in time. The sheer scale of the ruins and the fascinating architectural variety of the temples are truly awe-inspiring. From the colossal Temple G to the more delicately preserved structures, each site offers a unique glimpse into the sophisticated building techniques of the ancient Greeks. You can easily spend hours marveling at the columns, foundations, and reconstructed elements. For those planning to explore on foot, be prepared for a substantial trek – the full round trip can be around 10 km. I highly recommend bringing sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), especially during warmer months, as there's limited shade. However, a fantastic alternative is to utilize the golf cart service that ferries visitors between the various sites. While it costs a bit more, it's a very comfortable and efficient way to see everything, especially if you have mobility concerns or are short on time. A welcome bonus is the presence of small cafes at each major site. They offer a great opportunity to recharge with refreshing beverages and surprisingly tasty paninis. It's the perfect way to break up your exploration and enjoy a snack amidst the ancient splendor. Don't miss Selinunte – it's a truly unforgettable experience!

Day trip from Marsala. Nice park to visit. Almost no visitors. Some areas are still covert by vegetation. Because of this you don’t see the ruins very well. Keep in mind if you want to walk and see all the sights it will be a 10km walk. Take some water and snacks if you plan to walk everything.
Koen P — Google review
Huge and interesting place, big bonus is that you can walk inside the temple to admire the size of it even better. Note for people with reduced mobility...bring your foldable chair with you, very few benches available.

Wow! I had not been to the Selinunte park for years and went back in mid July. The area is beautifully kept, a lot of modern art sculptures have been added on the walkways and the scenery is amazing. Parking is easy and toilets are clean :-) I strongly recommend a visit!

Temple of Hera (Temple E)

Historical landmark
The Temple of Hera, also known as Temple E, stands out with its impressive two rows of colossal columns, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Greek architecture. Visitors often rave about their experiences exploring this site, which is surrounded by other significant ruins. While some have enjoyed the convenience of a golf cart shuttle to navigate the expansive area—especially during hot weather—others found the museum's lack of air conditioning a bit uncomfortable.
This is an experience you'll be glad you experienced. It's so much more than I expected we really enjoyed it.

Beautiful temples, not crowded (during February) and it was first Sunday of the month so it was free👌 it’s worth going if you are in q nearby area, but i wouldnt drive 3 hours to see it. The people at the reception were very friendly

One of the best-preserved Greek temples I’ve ever experienced. It’s a breathtaking experience that you can have in very few places. I cannot recommend this enough.
Andrea O — Google review
Selinunte Archaeological Park was my #1 favorite place visited in Sicily. I much preferred it over Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, not just because it was significantly less crowded, actually I didn't see very many people at all, partly due to the scale of the site and various areas being separated by some distances. The shuttles provided easy access throughout. Quite a remarkable place. I took nearly 500 photos in the few hours I spent here... a lot even for a photographer.

Lido Porta del Sole

Beach
The shoreline and sand at Lido Porta del Sole are relatively shallow, allowing visitors to walk out beyond the pier in water that reaches their knees. This area is located in front of restaurants along the seashore. Hopefully, the city will also clean up the eastern side of the beach, as it tends to accumulate debris and brush from the sea during winter months. This issue affects many beaches in Sicily.
(Translated by Google) Wonderful beach, close to the acropolis of Selinunte, not crowded even in August during the week. Bathing while the sun sets over the temples is a unique emotion. Very fine sand; in the first stretch the shore is rocky (these are the ancient foundations of the Greek port!), while at the bottom there is a nice sandy stretch. Gorgeous backdrops! Free access is now closed, we went through the Lido Zabbara access. Be careful when parking outside: outside the blue lines (free in this COVID period) the police often pass by fining those who park illegally. Fondali splendidi! L’accesso libero ora è chiuso, noi siamo passati dall’accesso del Lido Zabbara. Attenzione al parcheggio all’esterno: fuori dalle strisce blu (gratuite in questo periodo COVID) i Vigili passano spesso facendo la multa a chi parcheggia abusivamente.

the beach sand and shorebreak remains shallow so that you can walk out beyond the pier in knee deep water from the seashore in front of the restaurants - hopefully the city will clean up the east side as well from sea debris brush that comes ashore throughout the winter months on many of sicily beaches

Loud music, cleaner than the surroundings (they dump the weeds just outside their markings).

(Translated by Google) Suggestive beach from which you can see Temple C of Selinunte. At the beginning of September it was practically empty so very relaxing. The fundamental problem is that the smokers have decided that this is their ashtray so you will find lots of cigarette filters in the sand (a common problem on the beaches in the area, I'm afraid). The sea was acceptable, there is better in Sicily.

(Translated by Google) To clarify: there are no longer any sun lounger and umbrella rentals, and there's a cell phone number online that no one answers. That said, it's a beautiful free beach, with a view of the Selinunte temples. The sea is clean and the sand is wide. Parking isn't easy, but it's a truly beautiful place.

(Translated by Google) Beach near the archaeological park, a beautiful sight for our eyes! The free beach is not well looked after (a little dirty with algae) the sea is always beautiful everywhere here in Sicily... although there are better places. Paid parking a stone's throw from the beach... all day €3. Instead, we give a good score to the fact that you can relax as it is not crowded and there is plenty of space (Original) Spiaggia vicino al parco archeologico,un bel vedere per i nostri occhi!la spiaggia libera non e ben curata(un po' sporca da alghe)il mare è sempre bello ovunque qua in Sicilia...anche se c'è sono posti migliori. Parcheggio a pagamento a due passi dalla spiaggia..tutto il giorno 3€. Un buon punteggio invece lo diamo al fatto che ci si rilassa in quanto non è affollata e c'è spazio a volonta

I have been acquainted with this establishment for a significant period of time. It has now become a habitual destination for me, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Those who possess an affinity for cunzatu bread and other exquisite local culinary delights should unquestionably acquaint themselves with this restaurant. The quality is consistently exceptional, and the prices are fair and affordable. For individuals who reside in Palermo but frequently visit Mazara, it has become an indispensable stopover.
Great food and service! Come early and as it gets full very fast. There is no menu. Staff brings you the set of fishes, sea food and a dessert. Everything was great. Bring cash as they accept no cards. It was 30 eu pp ( I think it includes drinks as well but unfortunately we did not drink)

Nestled in a charming locale, BISTROT is the epitome of warmth and hospitality. This inviting eatery boasts an impressive menu featuring fresh seafood, with the standout being their succulent sardines, caught just down the road. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to ensure a delightful dining experience, sharing local culinary tips that enhance your meal. While there may be a slight wait for service initially, once your order is placed, you’ll be treated to prompt attention from the attentive team.
This place was so warm and welcoming. The highlight were the sardines - caught fresh out the sea down the road and they were so big and full of flavour! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and looked after us all night. A great place for a lovely dinner (and we'd been here the night before for a few late night drinks and it was just as great for that too). The austrian lady was so knowledgeable, helping us experience and enjoy food from the area, even how to eat sardines like a local! Also ask about the cannoli - we've had quite a few in Sicily but these were a whole other level. Who knew cannoli could taste like that. What a fantastic place!

Service seemed a bit uncertain at first as it took a while before our order was taken. However once it was in, we got served promptly by a very nice and friendly staff. The food was very good; fish and seafood were fresh and tasty (it was cooked on the BBQ). Beer was not overpriced. The atmosphere was pleasant and some live music was performed. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening.

Lido Zabbara is a charming beachside spot with a lovely view of the Selinunte acropolis. The restaurant offers delicious, freshly grilled local seafood and pasta dishes. Visitors can enjoy a generous salad buffet and friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. The place is popular for its fresh fish, grilled to perfection, and its familial and friendly atmosphere. It's an ideal location for a quick, affordable lunch by the sea.
Great beach with bar/restaurant right above the sun beds. Beautifully located, they bbq fresh fish of the day (which you can choose from the display), a buffet with amazing produce, the pasta is to die for.. it‘s down to earth and exactly what you‘d wish for a chill day at the beach.

Perfect spot for a light (or heavy!) lunch right on a pretty and not too crowded beach. Huge buffet (all you can eat) with salads and cooked dishes. Try the sardines - the house specialty. Octopus was grilled to perfection! Service was lovely, attentive and efficient. We will certainly be back!

It’s great location. You have three options. 1) buffet for 18€ all you can eat. 2) daily pasta. 3) order by menu. We had 2 pastas one beer and still water. We paid 40€ in total an got limoncello. Food is good, small fishes grilled looked delicious. We definitely recommend. They have fresh fish all the time.
Matic Z — Google review
Excellent place run by the kindest, most friendly people! The owner himself is very welcoming and generous, the staff are all wonderful - one gentleman in particular (Luca?) grows different varieties of chili peppers in the small garden outside, which are spicy and delicious, and he is very knowledgeable and happy to discuss hot chili peppers at length. The food itself was fresh and delicious (we took away some caprese salad and different grilled vegetables from their lovely buffet to eat on the beach, served with a very nice bag of brown bread). My only regret is not having time to come back again. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

An amazing restaurant on an amazing location on the beach, with amzing people. Excellent prices. We had fresh fish which we selected before, on the grill, local wine, etc. We avoided the buffet. We had an unforgettable time. Escence if Sicily.

My mother, husband and I were planning to eat lunch here but decided not to after being treated extremely rudely by a member of staff. We arrived and decided to sunbathe first and laid on some sun beds in front of the restaurant expecting to pay the attendant when he showed up. An insolent youth appeared ten minutes later and chastised us for lying down without paying first. The way he spoke to me and my elderly mother was disgusting and I couldn’t believe his attitude towards women. He told us we owed €25 for the two beds (my husband was laid next to us on the sand). I had 2 x €20 so I needed change and but he insisted that I follow him up to the counter to get it. I was in a bikini so asked him to bring the change to me instead which he refused to do with an extremely bad attitude. We asked for our money back and ended up going to another restaurant down the beach where we were treated with respect. We’ve travelled to Sicily many times and I’ve never been treated with such contempt. If you’re a foreign tourist, avoid Lido/Restaurant Zabbara. They don’t like women or tourists judging by the way we were treated.
