Quercetano Bay, located in Castiglioncello, Italy, is a picturesque stretch of coastline known for its sandy beach accessed by steps and backed by villas and hotels. The bay offers a golden crescent-shaped beach with bathing establishments, bars, and small sea-view restaurants. It is sheltered from winds and features emerald waters that make it one of the most stunning bays on the Tuscan coast.
So happy for living here in 1 month, perfect weather, food and culture 🇮🇹 i love it
MINA K — Google review
Found it a little expansive (€80 for the day, including umbrella and 2 beds plus hot showers and cabin) however the atmosphere was lovely, the food at the restaurant was delicious, and the sea water absolutely beautiful!
Linda L — Google review
SOOO beautiful 🌟 it was so busy (we went on a sunday) but the weather was lovely, water was extremely clear and i had a lovely and relaxing time with my girls.
Chelsy C — Google review
The entrance to the beach is beautiful but everything is unattractive. Crowded. Trash in the water - found a floating dirty diaper. Overpriced. Sold out chairs. Rude staff. Go early or go to another beach.
Irina S — Google review
There’s one beautiful thing about this beach: the path leading down the stairs. Other than that, it’s full of sunbeds placed right next to each other, and it’s very crowded even on weekdays. They tried to sell us two sunbeds for €35 (because we’re foreigners), and the beds were no more than 1 meter apart. Unfortunately, the snack bar isn’t nice at all either. We expected more. Tip: a bit further away there’s a lovely free beach with crystal-clear water and far fewer people.
ELili — Google review
Amazing place and view. I did eat around there to a restaurant and the food very cheap and amazing.
Andreea R — Google review
Crowded. Either pay for a chair, or try to sit on beach between chairs and water. Water full of kelp.
Jay R — Google review
Beautiful place but very crowded. Lots of traffic, no parking space. I’m aware that was very busy sezon so if you go there pick the right time.

The Torre Medicea di Castiglioncello is an ancient architectural structure with a rich historical background. This iconic landmark holds great significance due to its age and cultural importance. Erected during a bygone era, this tower stands as a testament to the past, showcasing the craftsmanship of the time. It serves as a reminder of the region's historical heritage and is revered for its architectural brilliance.
(Translated by Google) Beautiful example of Medici fortification, even if over time it has been increasingly neglected. Not open to visitors as it is private. In my opinion it must have been part of the ancient Via dei Cavalleggeri (Original) Bellissimo esempio di fortificazione medicea, anche se nel tempo è stata sempre più trascurata. Non visitabile in quanto privata. Secondo me doveva far parte dell'antica via dei Cavalleggeri

(Translated by Google) Poor Italy.. Tower perpetually closed and all the structures at its base significantly damaged and in a state of abandonment. On the other hand, 100 meters away. a brand new barracks of the Guardia di Finanza stands out. Don't be intimidated by the state of decay and the murals that accompany you on the descent to the cove, which it really deserves (solely and exclusively for the sea... That's why I gave it 2 stars). Napoleonic and Art Nouveau villas flaunt their wealth while the park and public domain area look like the Bronx. A love of the sea in a stretch of coast that would be enchanting without the signs left by those who built, enjoyed and then left it abandoned. Recommended for those who love the sea and the seabed like me... Not recommended for those who love nature and hate those who mistreat it. (Original) Povera Italia..

(Translated by Google) The tower was built in the mid-16th century. Not being mentioned in a list of fortifications dating back to 1539, it is plausible that it was built after 1540 and completed by 1570. In 1606, with the establishment of the new Captaincy of Livorno, the tower became the southernmost lookout point of the territory dependent on the city of Labronica. It maintained its lookout and defense function (as it was home to a cuirassier garrison) even during the Lorraine domination. Subsequently, in the 19th century it passed to the State Property and in 1872 it became the property of Diego Martelli, who sold it to his mother in 1886. It later passed to Fausto Lazzaro Patrone, owner of a nearby residence now known as Castello Pasquini and between the end of the same century and the first decades of the twentieth century it was the subject of several changes of ownership, transformations and uses, so much so that Count Gualtiero Danieli built his own villa around it in neo-medieval style, according to the style imposed by the castle of Baron Patrone. In December 2002 the restoration of the structure was completed which allowed the monument to be brought back to its original conditions, while improving its accessibility.

Tennis Club Il Fazzoletto in Castiglioncello offers a diverse menu featuring starters like raw fish platter and grilled fish platter, complemented by a wide selection of wines. The stylishly furnished restaurant provides a friendly staff and good food, with the coffee standing out. While there might be some waiting time between courses, the place is great for families with kids who can enjoy the playground.
We were a group of 12 we had various food from pizza, pasta and fish, all taste service is friendly and professional and a clean and welcome environment. Manuel and family from Malta 🇲🇹

Who would think a tennis club would have such good food. Being from Canada we had to take a little extra time to interpret the menu but it was worth it. This was the best beer I have had in Italy yet. The veggie calzone was incredible. Enjoyed the Gran Fritto with the lightly battered seafood. Try it and you won’t be disappointed. Ciao!

The negative reviews make sense now. We booked for 7:30 PM and waited 45 minutes for a “mini platter” consisting of one slice of salami, one of prosciutto, one sliver of cheese, and a crostino. Not a typo. We asked for our pizza at 8:20. It arrived at 9:05, thanks only to my husband intervening. It was bland. At the register, I was told off for “being in a hurry.” Apparently, two hours for a cold cut and a mediocre pizza is rushing things. To add insult to the injury the management has a 'nice' way to insult unhappy customers, blaming negative reviews on their 'frustrations'. Charming, like their food.

Our experience at the restaurant was a Desaster! The waiters were polite, but only one waitress spoke English. Even though there were not that many guests we waited 45 min for our drinks and over 1,5 hours for our food. On top of that they forgot one of the 4 dishes we ordered and said it'll take them another 30 min, if we didn't order something else. The birthday, who wanted to go there for a pizza, had to eat pasta he didn't want and like, not to starve. He got his food around midnight after we ordered around 9:30pm!! We were all starved and it was a horrible evening for us on my cousin's birthday :(( in the end they didn't offer us a refund and even wanted to charge us for the pasta, we did not order in the frost place! I cannot recommend this place at all! Stay away!!!

Way too slow in every aspect, place was empty when we came, still waited for a table, the menue, drinks and food. All took too long, even getting the bill was a pain. A quick stop with drinks and pizza was planned, took us two hours to get out of it again. Fortunately the food was good and the garden is really nice. Still sad to see a place like this struggling with good staff

Tennis Club Castiglioncello is a reliable and popular establishment in the vicinity, serving a delightful variation of Pizza called Schiacciata Bolognese. The sweets offered are also satisfactory, making it an ideal spot for an aperitif before dinner. The prices are average and the service provided is acceptable. Moving on to another restaurant, the fish at Tennis Club Castiglioncello is of excellent quality, along with the ingredients used and the pizza dough itself.

Worst burger I've had in my life. Literally the only time I can recall in my almost 30 years of existence that I threw food away cause my stomach and tastebuds couldn't make the effort to finish it. - read the reply to this comment, and see what type of business they are. Instead of trying to solve the problem, they resort to insults. Happy I won't be back.

The Bagni Italia is a well-equipped establishment with friendly and polite staff, offering affordable prices for the area. In September, visitors can enjoy the convenience of 20 umbrellas, deckchairs, and sunbeds. The restaurant at this lido provides excellent value for money with exceptional quality food. The beach itself features a beautiful combination of sand and rocks, making it an ideal place to relax and soak up the sun.
While strolling along the beach, we decided to stop here for lunch on a whim. Despite the bad weather, the restaurant was open, and we were very pleased with the food! The pasta was perfectly al dente, the fish was incredibly fresh, and the prosecco was excellent. Everything was very clean, and the staff was attentive and polite. Thank you!

We arrived here for lunch at 1:15 and were presented with a special board most of which were already out for the day. Our server took the order of two people who came in after us who ordered the last special that we wanted so we were stuck ordering off the normal menu and our portions were extremely small for our over $50 lunch for 2. We left hungry and disappointed. Nice view though!
Jeannie G — Google review
Very very dodgy bar acting as an ironfist-gatekeeper to Castiglioncello's finest public access beach. We paid 100eur for starters (of mediocre quality) and coffee for 3 people. Particularly obnoxious was the young lady (perhaps the owner's daughter?!) who seemed to be running the whole show (or thought she was). Despite her extremely arrogant attitude to both the other staff and us the customers, her barista skills are ironically close to null, judging by the lousy quality cocktail and macchiatos she made for us. They charge ridiculous prices for sunchairs+umbrellas too (60eur for a day in October, REALLY?), and vigilantly tell off anyone who sits on the sand too close to one of their chairs. In sum: mediocre food and drinks at terrible price-quality ratio, and undertrained unpleasant staff. Thankfully, we found plenty other good places by the sea here in castiglioncelo.

Beautiful place and a fun spot for children to play. The water was calm and warm at sunset, a must in Tuscany!

Just 3 starts because of the price benefits ratio. We got the umbrella with 2 sunbeds and a chair, shower hot and cold and a locker room, price 57 euros. Of course we could've decided not to stay, but we thought the quality would be better. However the beds were squicking at every touch, and the locker room was on a completely different floor, opposite from the bathrooms, so walking up and down the stairs whenever something was needed. Overall we didn't go again during our stay. The view is very pretty, but not something unseen.

La Lucciola is a chic dining spot with a seafront terrace that offers simple fish lunches and sophisticated evening menus. It's one of the favorite places to experience the best flavors around Rosignano Marittimo, alongside other renowned eateries like Il Cardellino and Osteria Il Sigillo. The restaurant provides an elegant atmosphere for enjoying Italian, seafood, and Mediterranean cuisine in Castiglioncello.
An amazing experience, this place should be a micheline star restaurant! Food was a real palate journey, and portions were of good size (not what you normally expect and fear from fancy places like this!!) The view is stunning and the service kind and welcoming.. i have a shellfish allergy and the owner managed to create a starter plate just for me, crazily delicious. Price of course is slightly more then a casual “normal” restaurant but it s all worth it as the you eat while enjoying a stunning view.

Beautiful, quiet location with a lovely, and clean restaurant serving great food. We had a wonderful dinner on a weeknight while visiting a few weeks back and were able to get seated without a reservation. The servers were kind, relatively attentive and were helpful as we needed to ensure we had gluten-free food due to a member of our party having Celiac (gluten allergy). There were still a decent set of options to eat and we thought the food was delicious. Our drinks/aperitifs were great too!

Absolutely wonderful place extremely friendly and forgiving for our lack of italian! Due to corona we all have to follow the rules and they made it really easy! The food as you will see in the photos is absolutely delicious. When we arrived as we hadn't booked they asked us to wait 10 minutes but fortunately we only had to wait around 5 minutes and we asked if we could get a glass of wine during the wait and they brought it straight out. We were so happy and then the food came out and is was delicious 🤤 We really enjoyed the QR code menu option, very forward thinking given the corona restrictions! When desert was served one member of our party was almost in tears she loved it so much 😂 We had a small mix up at the end with coffees however it turned out the waiter was not at fault but in fact the girls who know so much about the italian language told him to bring me a cup of milk!! All around excellent afternoon out and absolutely fantastic food!

Castello Pasquini, also known as Pasquini Castle, is a historical gem located in Castiglioncello. This stunning castle was constructed between 1889 and 1891 in the traditional Tuscan style, boasting an imposing presence and beautiful architecture. The castle features a lovely park that provides a refreshing escape during the summer months and serves as the backdrop for regular events.
Beauty and tranquillity.

This place is at the heart of Castigioncello with woodland that surrounds this building. Nice place to walk round, however we could not enter the building due to cut backs. They had deemed the place unsafe and needed to be checked before being re-opened so I can't comment on the interior. It's free to enter the park and it's a great place if you want to cool down in the shade of the trees. There are a few cafe's within the grounds but none were open when we visited the park. Nice place to walk round and have a drink when open and just take things easy.

Maybe there's a possibility to climb up the tower, I didn't find. From the terrace the 'white beach' can be clearly seen (controversial reviews killed my desire to visit it). Nice place!

Restaurant
Ristorante Il Porticciolo is an exceptional seafood establishment boasting a stunning atmosphere and picturesque vistas. Patrons are enticed by the delectable daily specials, such as ricotta ravioli with orange-infused pasta and a savory seafood sauce, spaghetti with clams and bottarga, and the unique ragu-stuffed mussels. The regular menu items are equally impressive, showcasing classic local Livorno-style cuisine. The staff is friendly, professional, and attentive.
Wonderful restaurant for seafood, gorgeous view and overall atmosphere. We enjoyed the daily specials that were not on the menu - ricotta ravioli with orange flavored pasta and a seafood sauce, spaghetti with clams and bottarga, and a very local specialty of ragu stuffed mussels. The regular menu items looked wonderful too, but the specials were so enticing and unique that we chose those. Classic local Livorno style food, and very friendly and professional staff. Wonderful location on the seaside pathway, a short walk to the perfect rocky beach for watching the sunset and also to the main seaside pine forest park and train station of the town.

If you dont drink alcohol, they dont care you at all. They dont want to serve you!! We waited half an hpur just to order. Very unpleasant experience with a very poor service. - There is a cover charge and we asked for some olive oil, they said there was "none left" even though other tables had it. - Further to an invasion of wasps on our table in the terrace, we asked if we could change tables and eat inside, the waitress told us the owner said we could only do it if we paid AGAIN another cover charge. Never seen this lack of empathy in any other restaurant in Italy. The comfort of clients should be a priority or at least to show some sympathy to clients. Certainly never coming back to this restaurant again.

The inviting atmosphere and attentive service enhance the dining experience, allowing guests to savor each bite while enjoying the picturesque surroundings.
Lovely restaurant right outside Castiglioncello station. Tables are beautifully set, and the menu, while small, is well thought out with a nice mix of meat and vegetarian options. Excellent wine list. We shared a burrata with cold cuts and fantastic Tuscan bread. I had the ravioli—delicious—and my husband had the tuna with a mixed salad. Dessert was excellent, and everything was accompanied by a chilled, sparkling rosé. Service was flawless and well-paced. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

The place was nice and recommended highly. It is for sure a higher level of place fancier and with that it is more expensive but as a whole not too bad. The primi and antipasti were between 12-16 each and the fritto misto was around 20. The place is right next to the train station which was actually kinda cool. There will free parking on the other side of the train station but not too many places to park. The servers were friendly and explained everything else. They do not have a wine list it’s an enoteca so you have ti go inside and find wine if you want it. We got glasses but they only had a few options for by the glass and then house wine. The fritto misto here was probably the best I have had in Italy I recommend highly. Also the gnocchi with calamari and pistacchio was amazing. I would highly recommend that. I would return here

Brilliant restaurant right next to the station (but don't let that put you off!). It has a sweet secluded sheltered 'garden' with seating that makes it all feel very special. The food was really good - we had swordfish, mussels and pasta but all the menu looked good. Staff friendly. It was busy in contrast to the other restaurants in town we went to or have seen even though it's not quite the summer season and that says something. Go here - it's lovely.

FITO is an exquisite establishment located in a stunning park, offering a pleasant atmosphere and helpful personnel. Their menu boasts wholesome options that cater to both sweet and savory breakfast preferences, delivering a delightful culinary experience. Anticipating future visits for an indulgent aperitivo or dinner, the only drawback noted was the pricing of non-alcoholic beverages made from fruit juices, which were placed on par with alcoholic cocktails.
What a GEM! The service was *absolutely* fantastic!! The interieur (and the exterior) are gorgeous! Elegant, modern chic, and yet down to earth. You feel completely comfortable, even with all tables taken, it’s not loud and the music spreads a chill-vibe that doesn’t want to make you leave! But the food guys - the fooooood! Omg! I’ve eaten in many restaurants (also high end) around the world and all I can say: this restaurant deserves a Michelin star! Nice place though! Take the “schiacciata”! It’s really good for an happy hour! Or just to eat something with a glass of wine. They have a small area outside with a nice view; there is no waiting service, but I think the main problem (to me) its the service at the bar. Too slow for a place that has many guest. Also the barista was a little bit unprofessional; but that was good for me because instead of try to sell me a glass of wine from an opened bottle he just gave me a new one 🤣

The on-site restaurant offers delicious lunch and dinner options, with a selected menu available at the kiosk all day long. The stunning ocean provides an incredible backdrop, perfect for snorkeling and observing its vibrant marine life.
Great place to spend a day, swimming in the pool, jacuzzis or down to the beach. Nice lunch and dinner restaurant, of which a selected menu is available at the kiosk throughout the day.

The view is really good, but the food not. I ordered two meals and neither of them was to my liking. Plus the price came out to approximately 30€ / person

Beautiful place. When you come on a workday there are many free tables to eat but don't be fooled. They will send you downstairs without obvious reason or sensfull explanation. Doesnt matter that you paid an entryfee of 30eur just before.... must be great for the locals but I think they just dont like tourists here.... ah and also EVERYTHING served in plastic. Even the wine. Mediocore food.

Excellent place to relax and have amazing view of the ocean
Serge W — Google review
Very disappointing experience. Despite the view is stunning, the service and the food are not equally outstanding. Indeed, we had breakfast there and the food was not served at the table, we had to collect our own croissants from the display at the bar and the pastries were most likely not freshly baked at all. It felt like biting cardboard. Unacceptable for such a kind of place. If you claim to serve breakfast, then please do so.

Great place, but the owners wife was very rude all day despite us spending a lot of cash in the establishment. Ignore her and you will have an amazing time in an amazing place. The rest of the staff confirmed she is pissed every day - one of those people that should not be working with customers.

Public beach
Spiaggia Caletta is a semicircular sandy area embellished with small pebbles, situated at the heart of the town. While it may not be expansive in size, its allure lies in its beauty and tranquility. On weekends, it becomes a bustling hub for families seeking to bask in the delights of music, lively crowds, and endless entertainment.
Beautiful place with free of charge beach with service if you want. Not so big but very nice. Crowded in the weekend.

Nice little beach. Rocky and a bit inaccessible if you have a big stroller for your baby.

(Translated by Google) It is definitely worth a visit, perhaps avoiding crowded periods given the limited parking. Wide choice of places to eat, even by the sea. (Original) Vale sicuramente una visita, magari evitando i periodi affollati visti i pochi parcheggi. Ampia scelta di locali dove mangiare, anche in riva al mare.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful promenade along the sea in Castiglioncello, with free parking spaces during this period. Ideal when the land wind blows, as it is a sheltered place. In the pine forest there are games for children. I definitely recommend 👍 (Original) Bella passeggiata lungo mare a Castiglioncello, con posti auto in questo periodo gratuiti. Seafood restaurant
Ristorante Scolapasta di Michele Maltinti is a charming restaurant located in Castiglioncello, Rosignano Marittimo, Livorno, Italy. Situated near the sea and surrounded by pine trees and stunning cliffs, this restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with local artwork adorning the walls. Guests can dine in two halls with an adjacent veranda or a cozy garden illuminated by candlelight.
I have been a regular at the Scolapasta for more than a decade. Michele, the owner, is a remarkable connoisseur of raw materials and wines, as well as their best match. The quality of the ingredients is at the highest standards in the area. Dishes express personality and interpretation with strong traditional roots. Never daring, always surprising. The atmosphere is elegant and discrete, even though the restaurant does not offer a view towards the sea. However, the rooms are carefully furnished with a marine touch and local artist Tanzini's contemporary works. Prices are what you can expect by an offer of outstanding quality

Casale Del Mare

Farmstay
Apartment complex
Casale Del Mare is a charming retreat in Castiglioncello, Rosignano Marittimo, Livorno, Italy. Nestled just 1 kilometre from the beach, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the stunning coastal areas. This converted old farm offers elegantly furnished apartments with rustic features like vaulted ceilings and exposed bricks. The on-site restaurant presents delectable local cuisine in a picturesque setting and caters to various events.
We spent three lovely days here and greatly enjoyed the pool and views. The walk down to Castiglioncello took us about 35 minutes, mostly down hill. Laura was a great help in booking our taxis from and to the Station, and also for the trip back up after a lovely meal at La Conchiglia, Di Thommaso. Lovely breakfasts, with eggs cooked to order.

The structure itself is lovely, with a beautiful pool in an idillic setting. The room was furnished badly, showing a desire to be shabby chic but frankly it was just second hand shabby which, considering the price, is unacceptable. Worse, the service: a rude owner who doesn't appreciate that the client is central to her business. The breakfast - for which they originally asked 40 euros - on the first day was poor, no fresh fruit, no fresh bread. After complaining the second morning was better, or perhaps that was because they had more guests and felt like they had to make more effort. Overall a bad overpriced experience. The restaurant next door was however lovely.

A good hotel, with a lot of potential. This is a winery, first, and then a hotel; this means, they have a lot of opportunity to introduce the wines they make to their clientele for free, or at a good discount. We were invited to this hotel by our friends and they had high remarks for it. The room was good, however, felt gimmicky with certain extra doors and modalities. Almost felt like we were in a room built by IKEA. AC was great, room was great, mattress could be improved, and sadly bedsheet had a stain of blood, which meant we didn’t get it replaced. Anything else, in regards to service was chargeable. Coffee pods at €1 each. To replace your sheet or towels costs €20 per request (outside of their weekly change). Room cleaning (if not suite) is charged at €30 upon request. Breakfast is €12 per person (reasonable) but only has a simple menu. Now, all of this could be greatly improved if the room is charged slightly higher, and all the charges removed. Wines discounted for purchase for introductions, then you create a client base who may keep coming back. The location was good, however, odd when the turn from the highway turns into a gravel road and we need to keep driving. As a first timer, this was freaky. Laura was a great host and upfront about everything mentioned above. However, this could be improved with different pricing and clarifying things either on the website. Would come back, however, with different expectations. Thank you.

Casale del Mare is a live expression of what means The Magic of Italy. I was there with my family and my wife and my children loves the food, the swimming pool, the trips in vicinity (sea side, San Giminiano, Pisa, etc). Even my mother in law was happy and this is not easy,,, Thank you Laura and all your team for the peace and beauty we had there. Grazie!

Very good experience. Exceptional location. The Cerro room was good but the place where the children slept less comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom were very basic. Nevertheless there was a good airconditioning and the terrace had an amazing view on the sunset in the sea, which made our stay very nice. The large swimming pool was great and the horses next to it, olive trees and vineyards, the view on the sea offered a calmness and the beauty of nature. The restaurant benefited from the nice views but the food was quite expensive compared to the quality and taste. The staff and Laura were very helpful. Thanks for the nice stay.

Casale Del Mare, is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The pool is fantastic and the scenery is incredible. The wine is great and goes well with the local food. Everyone was incredibly helpful during my first stay, and I have since visited 3 other times. Would highly recommend!
