Firostefani in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Firostefani, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Firostefani is a quiet cliff-top village on Santorini’s caldera, known for its classic whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sweeping sunset views over the Aegean Sea. It sits just north of Fira, so you can enjoy easy access to the island’s main town while staying in a more relaxed setting. A scenic footpath links Firostefani with Fira and Imerovigli, making it ideal for caldera walks and photography. The village also offers a range of small hotels and restaurants with terraces overlooking the volcano and sea.
With favorites like Open Air Cinema Kamari, Aktaion Restaurant, and Santorini Old Harbor, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Zotos and Selene Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Firostefani while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Athinios Ferry Port

3.8
(8842)
Ferry service
Athinios Ferry Port serves as the gateway to Santorini, accessible via a winding road that offers stunning views. Once you arrive, you'll find various transportation options to explore the island's charming villages. Taxis and private transfers can whisk you away to Fira in just 10-20 minutes, while buses provide an economical alternative for those looking to soak in the scenery during their journey.
Way too crowded especially in the summer but overall it was easy to move around. While at the same time it is way too crowded.
Rodion M — Google review
For a very popular city and port, I don't know why it's not organized in a way which helps tourists keep cool in the summer with some sun covered space, people walking on should be able to get on first before cars as they are not standing under the heat. The luggage area is also confusing and not enough signs to tell where the gates are. It's dangerous for people to wait in the heat!
Erica N — Google review
Getting on and off ferry was a little crazy. More like cattle call. Seats are very comfortable once on board.
Carlos C — Google review
Avoid at all cost. € to sit, € for shade € to wait € for bathrooms. 7€ for an orange juice. But wait! You didn't spend 15€ per person? Then you may not have a seat. Shocked at the prices. .30 added to every Euro you take out of an ATM on the island, so besure to bring plenty of cash. Gorging at its finest. Fly if you must go to Santorini. The Beach is NOT free.
Patricia S — Google review
Fast service. They only board minutes before it's time to leave. A great cafe nearby. You can also rent an ATV for about 60 Euros. Definitely worth it!
Jessica H — Google review
I'm assuming this is the port in Santorini because that's what it looks like. If so great port. Not that big, so when it's time to leave you know exactly where your ferry is. It'll probably drift into position right in front of you. You'll realize that you absolutely have to take some sort of transport to get to everything you saw on Microsoft screensavers and backgrounds that said Santorini on them. For a treat, just resent an ATV or Polaris to drive around. It'll cost you between 50-100 Euros, but it's well worth it. The island is a lot bigger than you think. There's numerous places to rent at the dock, and since you probably showed up early, even on the fast ferry, there's plenty of places to eat too since you might not have in Heraklion or whatever you left from. You can head up the mountain and visit all the villages on the way over to Oia (which is likely what you came for and is visible way down the island from where you landed). But make sure you leave 30-40 minutes to get back from there to the dick, because you have to go around the horn to get back. Adventure is beautiful on the way though, so enjoy!
Kascha K — Google review
Awful, pure chaos, took the "fast ferries", even the smaller ones were always behind schedule - and they were the worst, your luggage gets moved around, some people lost their bags. Takes the fun out of "island hopping" no longer worth it to me. This is why a lot of people take their bags with them, makes their seating area and isles more crowded, but they told me it's because they're scared to lose their bags. Surprisingly we enjoyed Athens better than the islands. Lots to see and almost everything was within walking distance.
Nohemi P — Google review
The port is great for People who have taken these Jet Ferries before. They know the drill. For new people taking the ferry for the 1st time they need to know that once their Ferry arrives it just takes 5 minutes for passengers to disembark and for new passengers to embark. All very efficient including loading the vehicles. No one is left behind. Whether you are 1st or the last passenger everyone has a seat and it's all very easy and extremely efficient. No need to push your way. Also these ferries are fast. They do not waste time, a marvel in efficiency and turnaround time.

Greek restaurant
Nestled in the quaint village of Exo Gonia, Metaxi Mas is a charming hillside restaurant offering a laid-back atmosphere and stunning sea views. This family-run establishment serves up traditional Cretan dishes with generous portion sizes and complimentary raki, creating an inviting and friendly environment for guests to unwind.
Worth going out of your way for this place. It was hard to find an authentic Greek experience for a restaurant in the bigger villages so we drove out here for something more authentic. You start off the meal with some kind of version of ouzo, bread, cheese and olives ... All included in the experience. The food is great. Best meal we had on the island for our three day stay. Great service .
Kiran B — Google review
We chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner (without mentioning it to the staff) based on the high reviews, and it definitely lived up to them. The location is tucked off a main road, you’ll need to park nearby and walk down an alleyway to reach it. The space offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat on the terrace overlooking the water, which had umbrella coverage and heaters, creating a cozy relaxed vibe. We ordered two starters - the dolmades and roasted white aubergine, and two specials - the moussaka and lamb chops. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Our server noted that the lamb was made with chives instead of garlic to avoid a strong flavour. That seemed consistent across the dishes. While I personally prefer more garlic-forward food, I didn’t really miss it since the flavours were still well balanced and executed. That said, a touch more garlic could have elevated the flavours even further in my opinion. At the end of our meal, we were given complimentary cheesecake, and the kitchen thoughtfully prepared a fresh fruit plate for my gluten-free partner, which was much appreciated.
M — Google review
True home-cooked meal with simple and earnest authentic flavor. Dessert, apertif, and small app are included, and the entire meal was excellent value for money. Eggplant was rich and flavorful with creamy notes and al dente texture. Dolmas were warm and perfectly soft and definitely the best I’ve had, ever. Their moussaka (special) and lamb were so good I had no choice but to carry them on my hike the next day and eat them deliciously at the peak. The restaurant happens to be in the middle of nowhere but it is well worth the trip. Remember to make reservations beforehand as it is very popular. On a side note, I’ve heard others say that the fine dining options on the island (e.g., Varoulko, Petra, Athenian House, etc.) are better than Metaxi Mas, but I personally felt that this restaurant could hold its own any day.
Laura B — Google review
I was skeptical at first since the restaurants I been to during this trip all had ratings 4.5+ but ended up very disappointing. BUT I am so glad I tried this restaurant. By far the best meal i had this entire week. Food was amazing. I got the grilled mushroom for starter, pork rack steak and lamb shank. Service was very good. They gave free welcome drinks and free dessert. You also get nice outdoor seatings with chill vibes.
Zi L — Google review
The best meal we had on the island. If you want great food and don’t want to pay absurd prices in one of the main touristy areas, this is your place. The steak and lamb were amazing. Along with the beet salad, octopus, and literally everything else! The free dessert at the end was also delicious

Decided to go last minute on our final day in Santorini. Was seated right away and were given a shot, some bread, and little snacks. We ordered right away and our food came out way faster than expected. For desert they gave us a cheesecake as soon as we finished the mains. And as for the food omg the food was just one of the best from our 2 weeks in greece! 5/5!
Mitch D — Google review
This restaurant has it all. Great food, lovely atmosphere, amazing location with sea views, friendly staff and reasonably priced to boot! We visited twice during our week on Santorini and every dish was delicious and well cooked - the T-bone steak was amazing! You start with complimentary bread, raki and nibbles(cheese, olives and a very hard wheat snack). We didn’t try starters as the mains were so filling. Drinks are reasonably priced and the carafe of house wine at 8€ was great value and perfectly fine (other pricier wines available by the bottle). The meal is followed up with complimentary cheesecake which was delicious, although I was not so keen on the goats/sheeps cheese flavour. Overall highly recommended.
C R — Google review
My wife found this local eatery after our photo op to the Monastery of Prophet Elias. Small hidden gem. Had no reservations but we arrived early around 6 pm and host welcomed us as dinner starts later here. Had incredible strawberry salad, lamb chops that were cooked and seasoned so well, an amazing steak and a seafood pasta dish that was unbelievably flavorful. Finished off the meal with small cheesecake tasting. Wait staff was very attentive, really thoughtful and checked on us during our meal. If you want an authentic meal with great flavor (and during the days) amazing views, highly recommend. Should we come back to Santorini, this restaurant is on our return eatery list. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

Santorini is the largest island in a small circular archipelago known for its rugged terrain and classic blue and white architecture. It offers various tourism amenities and attractions, including stunning beaches like Kamari Beach, picturesque windmills at Kato Mili, and the historic site of Acrotiri. Visitors can also enjoy wine tasting with amazing views, breathtaking sunsets in Fira and Pyrgos, as well as delicious dining experiences at places like KIPOS Restaurant.
Visiting Santorini is a wonderful experience. The island is beautiful, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and things to see and do. The people are polite and helpful, which makes exploring even more enjoyable. It is a touristy destination, but still an experience of a lifetime, and I would definitely return. A helpful tip: discuss taxi fares in advance, as prices can sometimes be higher than expected.
Faiz D — Google review
Santorini Beautiful in Parts, but Not for Everyone Santorini is often seen as a dream destination and in some ways, it lives up to that image. The weather is fantastic, and there’s no denying the island has some stunning views, especially along the west coast in places like Fira, Imerovigli, and Oia. If your plan is to relax at a hotel pool or beach bar while soaking up the sun, it absolutely delivers. Villages like Oia are truly picturesque if you visit early. During the day, however, they become overcrowded as busloads of tourists arrive nonstop, which takes away much of the charm. But outside these well-known spots, the rest of the island can feel underwhelming. The east and northeast sides of Santorini are flat, quiet, and lack the dramatic views the island is known for. There’s not much to see, and it gets boring quickly. Infrastructure is another weak point. Roads are narrow, traffic is heavy, and many seasonal workers seem to bring in noisy, aging cars from the mainland, adding to both air and noise pollution. Despite posted speed limits, local drivers tend to ignore them, which, combined with the lack of sidewalks, makes walking anywhere quite risky. If your accommodation is outside a main town or far from shops, having your own transportation is basically a must. In short, Santorini might be perfect for those who want a laid-back resort stay with a few postcard views. But for travelers who enjoy exploring and variety, it doesn’t quite compete with the stunning landscapes, richer culture, and better infrastructure found across the Mediterran.

Santorini is a unique place , no one can deny that it is one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world . I loved it so much but it is enough to spend a day or two , as there is not much to see if you like exploring many places . It was Beverly strange to try to imagine lives of people up there , the island is located on a mountain and that is why it feels so isolated. The experience of hiking the mountain was not pleasant at all , many donkeys carrying people and many donkeys free going on the path with a lot of their shit on the steps ( very slippery) . Use the cable car ( 20 euros ) or take a bus but worst experience is hiking or even riding a donkey . ( not safe )
Rasha N — Google review
Santorini is an overrated island. Yes, the sunsets are stunning and worth seeing once in a lifetime, but beyond that? Nothing really special. Prices are high without reason, and the atmosphere is far from the warm hospitality I’ve always experienced in Greece – with only a few exceptions at some tavernas. Imerovigli was a highlight: cozy, charming, and clean. Oia, however, is extremely overrated – basic restaurants charging Michelin-star prices. The island overall feels neglected, with trash and plastic everywhere. Worth visiting once for the experience, but definitely not twice
Alexandru C — Google review
Thira is lively and beautiful, with classic whitewashed homes and world-famous sunsets. It can feel overcrowded with tourists chasing the perfect photo (myself included!), but the charm, views, and vibrant atmosphere make it a must-see.

Very unique place, a must see once in a lifetime. We only visited both Oia and Fira one day in our trip which in my opinion is enough and amazing photos to add to album🇬🇷🏺 It's very busy but we managed to find some corners that only had few people. Whoever is complaining about this place being overrated, why are you visiting? We all want to see it with our own eyes so expect a lot of tourists. 🤓
Kris R — Google review
A must see on our cruise. Taken off ship by tender to Fira , hour queue for cable car to the village. Local bus from there to see the blue domes of Oia. Took our photos then back too an even longer queue for the cable car. Sounds terrible but met some really people from New York and group from Australia so it was quite a nice day out.

Santorini is just a gorgerous place. We stayed for 6 days and on the low season which i personally think is the best time. We got 2 days of warm weather and the rest was little chilly. There is a lot of walk and of course tons of stairs so take your time. Lots of stray cats which they are being fed by people here. We didn’t ride the donkeys. We walk.

Specialty Museums
The Santorini Wine Museum, also known as the Koutsoyannopoulos Wine Museum, is a unique underground museum located in a cave that delves into the rich history of winemaking in the region. The museum showcases historical exhibits dating back to 1870 from the Koutsoyannopoulos family and offers tours of its 300-meter-long premises situated eight meters below ground.
Attended with my 2 children, this is a must when visiting Santorini. The museum is great, it shows you the history of wine making by the family all set in beautiful caves. My two children enjoyed the audio guide too. This is then followed by wine tasting. Our host was Angela, she’s the best! Super friendly, really knowledgeable and helped us not only with wines but Santorini tips! Looking forward to bringing my family back on our next visit.
Kelly-Louise E — Google review
Great visit here and very informative. euro25 per person gives you the tour at your own pace with a little hand gadget in your language. Enter down the steps to the underground cave where the story of Santorini wine unfolds, sections show original old machinery, how the crop is grown, a story of the family and how the workers did their jobs. If you are interested in wine this has got to be for you, as you approach each story there is a board with numbers on, just press the corresponding one on your handheld & listen...no pressure so the time is yours. At the end you get to taste some of the wines 4 in all and the measures are ok, you will be guided to flavours and what to look for, of course everyone has different tastes but you can usually pick out the main back flavours. A must visit.
Ian S — Google review
My mother and I booked a wine tour and tasting through our hotel concierge, Melanie. Upon arrival we were already expected and received a warm greeting. The historical tour in the cave was creative and very knowledgeable. The vine and grape cultivation is astonishing and gives a next level appreciation for the wine tasting. The last room prior to the exit was very well done with historical artifacts provided by locals in the region and even a retelling of how the islands were divided by volcanic eruption. The bar and tasting rooms are beautiful done and well appointed. Much to our surprise we were escorted to an elegant tasting room. A lovely charcuterie board was also provided. The highlight was the service provided by Angela. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a deep appreciation for the history of each wine. She also guided us on the pairing of each bite. Angela changed my perspective on dessert wines for the 2002 Kamaritis is now a favorite. Thank you, Angela for being a delightful host. We purchase 4 bottles, 3 of which we hoped to survive 2 flights back home. Thanks to your superb packing we can now share Santorini wines with our family for they are truly one of a kind.

Lovely experience. Was almost private going in the middle of the week. The museum and wine tasting were amazing. Loved the design of the place It’s the second best wine museum in the world! Worth trying! Don’t be discouraged when arriving, the museum is underground and wine testing and shop on a beautiful and modern hidden place
Kasia L — Google review
This is a must-do if you are visiting in Santorini! We had no problem getting in to the museum and had no reservations prior. The self-paced 8m underground museum is narrated by an audio pack. After the museum, you’ll enjoy a wine tasting. Angela (see center of the second photo) was so well-informed and personable! Our teens were given snacks and sodas to enjoy. Angela engaged us all in the conversation. If you are on a cruise, or if you’re in the area, this is a must-do while you are in Santorini!
Kimberly L — Google review
the ticket includes a guided tour of the museum, which takes you on a fascinating journey through history literally underground. the exhibits are beautifully preserved, and the entire experience is full of interesting facts and stories. after the tour, you’re treated to an elegant and well-organized tasting session, which truly feels special. a big highlight is the wonderful Ms. Angela—she’s incredibly kind, friendly, and an excellent storyteller. delicious snacks are also served during the tasting. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone, it’s a unique and memorable experience!
Lena B — Google review
We did the Gold package tour which included 9 wines for tasting and a charcuterie board of snacks for pairing. Angela was our host. She did an outstanding job explaining more of the history of the family and then a detailed description of each wine we tasted, all of which were excellent. The snacks she suggested paired perfectly with each wine. We spent nearly an entire afternoon there and loved it. Highly recommend visiting this place.
G T — Google review
A must see while in Santorini. The museum has really interesting pieces and you will end your experience with a nice wine tasting of really high quality wines. The tour offers sound devices explaining the different areas of the museum which enhances the experience. Also, the number of wines to sample depends on the experience level you choose while paying at the entrance. Highly recommend!!

Santorini Old Harbor, once the main port of Santorini, now shares its nautical traffic with Athinos Port. Nestled at the foot of the striking caldera cliffs, it serves as a picturesque starting point for boat tours and cruises. The iconic view of whitewashed buildings against the cliffs makes for a perfect backdrop. Accessing the harbor is an adventure in itself, with options including walking down 588 steps or taking a cable car that offers stunning views during the descent.
Super beautiful harbour, very settled and quiet, staff smiling and happy to help. Use the cable cars, far safer than Pancho and his horsey friends, the people who ride the horses up need to give themselves a check as it’s not the most friendly experience I have ever seen! Gift shops are slightly cheaper at the bottom than the to, bizarre but true!

We walked down (& then back up!) all 588 steps to the Old Harbor- and it was totally worth it! It wasn't too hot, and the views are great & we loved seeing the donkeys along the way

Definitely book the catamaran if you visit the islands. It was such a beautiful experience. Got to swim with fish, seen the islands, had a guide who would stop and tell us the history of the place, they cooked delicious food for us. It was incredible. I even got to drive it 🥰Definitely will be doing it again ❤️❤️❤️

A beautiful, bustling city. Two choices to get "up to" the city pitched on a mountain: cable cars or the donkey path. Fabulous views, very nice stores, and many cafes with incredible views. Difficult walking with uneven cobble stones and frequent steps. Those with canes or difficulty walking struggled. Definitely not wheel chair accessible.
JULIE C — Google review
It’s definitely worth visiting the Santorini Old Harbor! The view is stunning and the experience unforgettable. However, keep in mind that getting from the city down to the port involves a long, steep descent — and the same climb back up. We planned to walk down and return by cable car, but when we arrived, there was a power outage, so the cable cars weren’t running. We ended up walking partway back up, but the summer heat was intense, so we decided to take the mules instead. It took us about 40 minutes to walk down and 20 minutes to ride the mules back up to the city. If you choose to walk the entire way, bring plenty of water and be prepared for a strenuous hike. Tip: Don’t rely too much on the cable car — outages can happen. Have a backup plan and enjoy the adventure!

It's fabulous. You can take a speedboat trip to IOA to see its wonders and then return by bus to the port. Or take the cable car and explore Fira.

Zotos is a modern Greek establishment that combines traditional Greek elements with a contemporary twist. They offer a delightful selection of homemade ice cream with daily-changing flavors, reminiscent of those found on the Italian Riviera. The staff is friendly and accommodating to customers of all ages, making it a family-friendly destination. Customers praise the rich and delicious offerings such as espresso gelato, chocolate-covered baklava, caramel chocolate cake, and Santorini lava gelato.
The best gelato we had in Greece hands down! The line was out the door for good reason! There are an overwhelming amount of options and a limit of two samples per person. I sampled the Dubai chocolate flavor and still dream about her from time to time. We landed on the mastic flavor and it was incredible. The staff were a little flustered but moved things along and were friendly given the traffic. It’s the perfect reward for going up all the stairs to get there!

Zotos Gelateria: A Must-Visit for Ice Cream Connoisseurs in Santorini! We're a family of ice cream fanatics, and let me tell you, Zotos Gelateria in Fira absolutely blew us away! It's not just the best on the island, but honestly, it deserves its title as one of the top 3 gelaterias in all of Greece. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even let us try out most of the flavors before we made our choices (major bonus points!). This was fantastic because you could really taste the quality ingredients in each scoop. Speaking of flavors, I have to single out the pistachio ice cream – it was pure perfection! Rich, nutty, and bursting with flavor. But honestly, every single flavor we tried was delicious. You can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. We also indulged in some of their other pastries, like baklava, and everything was just as amazing. If you're in Fira, or anywhere on Santorini for that matter, Zotos Gelateria is an absolute must-visit. It's the perfect place to cool down on a hot day and treat yourself to some of the best ice cream you'll ever have. For those with dietary restrictions, Zotos Gelateria has you covered! They offer gluten-free cones and vegan ice cream options, so everyone can enjoy their delicious treats.

Excellent Food and Service, But Ambience Could Be Improved ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Selene offers a truly impressive culinary experience. The food was exquisite — refined, flavourful, and beautifully plated. Each dish felt thoughtful and rooted in Greek tradition with a modern touch. The service was equally exceptional: professional, friendly, and well-informed. However, the ambience didn’t quite live up to the same level. While the setting was pleasant, it lacked the atmosphere and charm we were hoping for, especially for a fine dining experience in Santorini. Still, the quality of the food and service easily make Selene a strong recommendation for any foodie visiting the island. Just don’t go expecting a dreamy or romantic setting.
Liran R — Google review
We visited Selene during our honeymoon and chose the <Half Moon> course menu (€175 per person, the least expensive option available). The atmosphere was wonderful — elegant, calm, and very romantic — and overall the staff were kind and attentive. The experience started strong with excellent bread and olive oil, which stood out even for us as people living in France. The first amuse-bouche was delicious, while the second was simply spinach — not unpleasant, but not memorable either. The first starter, <From Mani to Santorini with Love>, was truly outstanding — full of flavor, beautifully balanced, and a dish I would gladly order again if offered as a main. In contrast, <Mediterranean Triptych> was far too salty. When I gave this feedback politely, instead of the usual acknowledgment you’d expect in fine dining (“I’ll let the chef know”), our server simply said, “Oh, okay.” and walked away. The response felt surprisingly unprofessional and that left us both surprised. For my main, I had <Primavera — fish with artichoke confit, peas, and spinach>. Unfortunately, the sauce didn’t work for me — it clashed with the fish and made the dish difficult to enjoy, though it may just not have suited my personal taste. Desserts were creative, refreshing, and delicious. However, the mignardises that followed were deep-fried, heavy, and greasy, leaving the meal on a flat note instead of the light finish we had hoped for. With two-course menus, one pre-dinner drink each, and a glass of wine each, the total came to €450. While there were definite high points and we enjoyed the evening overall, the food often leaned toward experimentation without achieving true harmony. For the price, the experience felt unbalanced. It was good to experience once, but not something I would repeat or recommend.

What a phenomenal dining experience! Every dish was a work of art—beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. A heartfelt thank you to the chef for the private presentation of the main course—it made the evening feel truly special. The service was exceptional, with special thanks to Alex and Maria for their warmth and attentiveness throughout. The only critique would be the pasta, which was a bit too salty for our taste, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommended for a fine dining experience that blends creativity with genuine hospitality!

We had such a beautiful night here celebrating our honeymoon. Our favorite night of our trip to Santorini! The service was amazing and the waiters and sommelier were so kind and punctual. The food was delicious and we felt the care and attention put into every bite! It was so romantic and luxurious and was worth every penny. It was a beautiful, elegant night and we were so glad we went.

The overall experience was incredible. We ordered the half moon with the triumph of the sea, a seafood pasta served with a bisque prepared on the table side. Our server was exceptional, and the food was delicious, even though it was quite expensive. However, the only part of the experience that was a bit disappointing was the yelling coming from the kitchen. The waiters seemed visibly shaken and upset, and it bothered me because I care deeply about culture, even the background details.

Restaurant
Aroma Avlis, nestled within the enchanting Artemis Karamolegos Winery in Exo Gonia, Santorini, is a culinary gem that should not be missed during your island adventure. This unique establishment combines a winery and restaurant experience, allowing guests to indulge in authentic Greek dishes crafted from seasonal local ingredients like tomatoes and fava beans. The setting is simply delightful—imagine dining in a cozy courtyard surrounded by lush plants and aromatic herbs while gazing out at the stunning Aegean Sea.
My family took the cooking class here. We cooked five different Greek foods each of which were super unique and delicious. We used the fresh tomato’s from the farm and got to try (and use) the wines they make. The chef was great, he taught quickly but that kept it going at a fun and learn some pace. After the class we were served the dishes we’d made and got to enjoy those in the restaurant. Highly recommend doing this. It gives you a new perspective on Greek cuisine.

This place is a must visit for food lovers in Santorini. We had the best time here. If you are interested and also love your wine, then a lovely private tour of the wine making facilities and cellar are available. A very knowledgable and relatable lady called Michelle guided us through, expertly, before seating us for our incredible dinner. We chose to sit in the garden and the ambiance was perfect. It’s a cleverly curated courtyard style space amongst mature olive trees and shrubs with beautiful flowers. The tables were well spaced and it felt intimate without being secluded from the atmosphere. The food… Crikey! I had a take on Moussaka to start. IT WAS THE BEST I’VE TRIED. Jenny had the octopus which was also delicious! For main I ate perfectly braised veal cheeks in a sauce made from their dessert wine - Vinsanto and Jenny had a fab chicken dish (generously portioned) with a cream sauce, asparagus and sautéed potatoes. All memorably delicious. The staff were all brilliant and attentive with great suggestions for wine pairings. Relaxed, professional, sharp service. I HIGHLY recommend. We ended up buying a bottle of the PYRITIS ‘23 (a stunning dry white, in a Chardonnay style) 👌🏼

Exceeded our expectations even though we were expecting the restaurant to be good to start. Reservations were easy to make as an English-speaking tourist though we did have a short wait to receive a confirmation. Once there, the atmosphere has an inviting upscale outdoor feel, staff was friendly and helpful with the menu and suggestions. The food we ordered was all beautiful and insanely delicious. We had the Santorinian tomato fritters, Santorinian fava, Greek salad, Lamb with artichokes, Catch of the day (croaker), Santorinian aubergine “like a moussaka” , and Black Angus Beef Filet paired with a rose (fish) and an orange wine (lamb). Highly recommend all. We were treated to a complimentary gorgeous plate of fruits and a dessert wine to end the night. All around one of our favorite experiences in Greece. Highly recommend!

If you are interested in good food and wine, this is a place for you. We went for weekday lunch and were very impressed by the lovely garden and friendly service. Salad was simple but nice because of the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes.

Oh, what a lovely place aroma, avlis The food was sensational, the wine was incredible. The service was next to none. I thought it was a peach, Thank you VIRJILIO ALSO PAVAROS WAS JUST AS GREAT!!!very nice establishment. Inside, seating outside seating, right We sat out underneath the vineyard on the deck. What a great lunch. Recommended to us by a local at the gas station. The woman who filled up our atv, said we must try this place out. So we drove up the road 2 km and boom there. This is where we had probably the best meal on the island, even though it was beginning of the season and the restaurant was still closed. We called to make a reservation and they told us that only the dishes to pair wine tasting were available, so there was not the full menu. We chose to go and I'm glad we did! The food was amazing, all personnel was super kind and friendly and we had excellent time. I think you should definitely pay a visit if you would like to see what the traditional cuisine of Santorini tastes like. 5 stars, highly recommended!

Wonderful setting, especially outside with a cool breeze, very extensive wine list with their own wine and others as well. Every dish we had looked and tasted amazing! The wait staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the products they were serving and not hovering around too much at all. Probably the best meal , service and setting we have had in our 3 weeks in Greece.

Greek restaurant
Penelope's Ouzeri in Pyrgos Santorini is a charming and traditional restaurant run by a Greek woman named Penelope. It's located in an idyllic spot, offering a cozy and homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you're dining in your grandmother's kitchen. The restaurant is known for serving delicious Greek cuisine, making it a favorite dining spot for many visitors.
Even if you just have a few hours, this is a must eat/drink treat. Penelope’s is “on the path” in the upper level of Pyrgos and is an amazing hidden gem. Salads are fresh from the garden and breathtakingly good. The staff and owners are amazing and you’ll feel you’re amongst friends the moment you sit down. This spot can’t be missed.

The best restaurant in Pyrgos, if not all of Santorini! The ratatouille style dish was so rich in flavor, the fig and honey dessert was outstanding as well, using mainly locally sourced ingredients. Location wise, you couldn’t ask for a better view! The owner (if I’m not mistaken) was super friendly and really wanted me to enjoy my meal 😄

We ate at this restaurant during our visit to Pyrgos. Even though we had booked for a different time, the staff was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to delay our reservation while keeping the same table with a wonderful view of the town. Everything we ate was excellent, and the staff was kind and friendly. Absolutely recommended if you’re in the area!

I’d read that this was the place to try the best tomatokeftedes (tomato fritters) in Santorini, so I decided my first experience should be here. While I don’t have others to compare to, I do know great food, and it’s easy to believe these are the best. The texture was light and crispy, full of flavor, with a lovely hint of fresh mint. The accompanying tzatziki was also the best I’ve had in my six days in Santorini, creamy and more flavorful than any other I’ve tried. Another highlight was the fries - fresh-cut and perfectly cooked. All the other dishes were delicious as well - the dolmades (the filling was softer than others I’ve had but still very tasty), the eggplant dip (a mousse-style puree with a nice smokiness), and the Greek salad (very fresh). I can’t speak to the main courses, but if you’re visiting Pyrgos and want a meal or filling meze-style snack with picturesque views in a charming indoor-outdoor setting, I highly recommend this spot. The only note - plates are on the pricier side.

We had an incredible experience at Penelope’s Ouzeri. The view was absolutely stunning — truly one of the best spots to take in the island’s charm. Our server was exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He also took time to chat with us about the area’s history and answered all our questions about the nearby landmarks. It felt like we were dining with a local friend. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the warm hospitality!

The food was delicious! We had coffee frappe, the yogurt was mega delicious, the eggs with tomatoes were super yummy, the bread was on point, and the veggies in the omelette were very fresh and extremely well prepared. Valia, who was our waitress, is super nice and helped us with all our questions! We will definitely come back and eat here again!

We ate here on our last night on our honeymoon and it was hands down the best experience in Pyrgos. Johnny was our server and he was very hospitable and every dish we ordered was a 10/10. Snag a table for sunset and you won’t be disappointed!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Santorini Airport, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Three Bells of Fira. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Santorini Airport

International airport
Airport
Santorini Airport, officially known as Santorini (Thira) International Airport (JTR), is the largest airport in the southern Aegean Sea. Located north of Kamari village and six kilometers from Fira, the island's capital, it serves as both a civilian and military facility. Before COVID-19, it welcomed around 2.5 million passengers annually, making it Greece's eighth-busiest airport.
The first time I arrived at Santorini Airport, my heart was pounding with excitement and joy. Although it’s just a small airport on this famous Mediterranean island, the atmosphere felt truly special—as if I had stepped into another world, far from the noise and rush of everyday life. As the plane landed, I looked out the window and saw the deep blue sky blending with the white-washed houses on the distant hillside. It was a picture-perfect scene that made me smile with anticipation. The airport itself is not large, but it’s clean, airy, and cozy. The staff were friendly and warmly welcomed travelers with bright smiles and kind eyes. Laughter and cheerful conversations filled the air, from groups of friends to families eagerly starting their vacations. A wave of happiness washed over me as I imagined the turquoise beaches, white stone streets, and romantic sunsets waiting ahead. Santorini Airport wasn’t just the first stop of my journey—it felt like a gateway to a dream. A dream of a vibrant summer, of freedom, color, and unforgettable moments. In that moment, I knew something magical had begun.
Huong L — Google review
Great airport, it’s a very small airport and the security is very fast so there’s no real need to come very early for flights. I will note, inside there are very limited food options so just beware. The staff are kind and helpful.
Soban — Google review
Santorini Airport is a small but very busy airport, especially during the summer season when thousands of tourists arrive daily. The facilities are modest and can sometimes feel overcrowded, but the airport fulfills its purpose of connecting the island with major European destinations. Staff are generally helpful, and the atmosphere reflects the relaxed island vibe. Despite the crowds, it is a unique experience to land on Santorini, as the views during arrival and departure are truly breathtaking.

Arrived at Santorini earliest flight and sunrise welcomed us. But heading back to athens was quite the opposite, we had to wait at the airport because of delayed flight for 3 hours and caught a red-eye flight returning to athens.
Kim K — Google review
Santorini Fira Airport is small but efficient. The check-in and security process were quite smooth, and the staff were polite and helpful. The airport is clean and easy to navigate, which makes travel stress-free. However, the waiting area could use a bit more seating and better food options. Overall, a pleasant experience and a good start (or end) to a trip in beautiful Santorini!
Mithun M — Google review
Santorini Airport is quite small, but overall it’s clean and well-maintained. The check-in and security procedures were very quick and efficient. Although the facilities are limited, it’s a smooth and stress-free experience for a small island airport.

This is a small but efficient airport in Santorini. Our flight arrived on time, and our luggage came out quickly as well. Overall, we had a good experience — the facilities were clean, especially the toilets, and the airport is well signposted, making it easy to find your way around.

Santorini International Airport is located north of the village of Kamari. Airfield can accommodate medium-sized jets as well as smaller aircraft. Commercial flights are seasonal, scheduled and charter flights from other airlines during the higher seasons in spring, summer and autumn. It is quite small, but overall it’s clean and well-maintained. The check-in and security procedures were very quick and efficient. Although the facilities are limited, it’s a smooth and stress-free experience for a small island airport. There is no drinking water facility in the airport, no lounge, no proper seating area and no mobile charging points. Free WiFi is available.

Movie theater
Open Air Cinema Kamari is a unique outdoor theater located at the entrance of Komari Town in Santorini. It offers a one-of-a-kind movie experience under the open sky, with films shown in English and Greek subtitles. Surrounded by trees, this cinema provides a tranquil setting for enjoying new releases, Hollywood blockbusters, cult classics, and Greek award-winners. Visitors can also indulge in local beer, wine, cocktails, ice-cream, and snacks from the on-site bar.
Fantastic experience for my family of 5. Place was clean, well lit and comfortable. It was also almost sold out so make sure you get here at least a half hour early. Be aware that they only take cash, 10 euros pp. Also, they have a canteen that serves food throughout the movie.

Amazing experience! We watched the Mamma Mia movie and it was a lot of fun! The venue looked great and well maintained. The only disappointment was that they only accept cash. It’s hard to believe that in the 21st century you can’t pay by card. That’s the only reason I can’t give them 5 stars.
Marek S — Google review
We had a good time here. A really interesting experience. You have to come earlier to stay in line, because they have only 180 seats available. The prices from the printed menu were smaller than what we paid in the end. Not sure if they did not updated the prices in the menu yet or is common.

Loved it - we saw ‘one battle after another’ and it was excellent. It was very cold (went early October) and there were no blankets available - so make sure to layer up! Entrance is €10 per person (cash only) and we got two cocktails, two beers and some chocolate for €33 - thought it was very reasonably priced and a great experience.

Fantastic night watching mama mia here, really good atmosphere and nice to see it so busy. Food snd drinks reasonable prices, the mojito was lovely and fresh in the warm evening breeze. Really cool how people got up and sang and danced at the end of the film too,a real fun evening.

We stayed in Akrotiri and just like many many others we rented a car. Point being - try not to miss coming here whether you’re in Oia, Fari or elsewhere on the Island. This is a perfect evening getaway for couples. Parking might be an issue, though. But if you’re early enough, you’ll find one. We paid €10 p/p for tickets and enjoyed some drinks for standard Santorini prices.

I am a fan. This theater was amazing! TIPS: Come early so you can sit together and make sure to bring cash as they don’t accept card! We saw Mama Mia which was amazing on its own! If the owners could reach out to me I would love to ask you a specific question about the place 😉

Cannot recommend this enough was the highlight of our holiday in Kamari! Such a wonderful atmosphere, and staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful. We came here for the day when our cruise docked in Santorini. The concierge (Tina) was friendly and accommodating. She allowed us to use the pool while admiring the view for free. The view was breathtaking!!! Pictures don't do it justice. We didn't eat here but we did enjoy some cocktails by the guy at the bar (George). The food smelled amazing but we didn't have time. The service was incredible! I wish I was lucky enough to stay here for the night but I hope to come back. Thank you Volcano View hotel for your generosity!

Beautiful hotel nestled in the cliff side in Santorini! The rooms were lovely, the hotel grounds (and the view) incredible, and the staff warm, friendly, and very accommodating. The breakfast is delicious and offers a huge amount of variety, pretty much anything you can think of. And you can't beat the view from the restaurant. We also liked that the location was outside of Fira, away from the crazy, but there is a free shuttle going to town several times a day. There is a mini market and car rental place right across the street, and the workout facilities were great. Overall, I can't say enough good things about our experience. Would 100% go back!

Best hotel with the best view of the Caldera in Santorini. Excellent location and amazing staff. Worth the money and every corner of the property is pretty. Everyone raves about Oia n it's sunset view but in my opinion this hotel, and the restaurant has the best sunset view of the Caldera. It's conveniently located close to Fira. Very clean property with very good pools. One can never get tired of the amazing and breathtaking view.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Volcano View Hotel. The room was extremely comfortable with an incredible view that made our experience unforgettable. The breakfast was very good with a nice variety, and it was the perfect way to start each day. The staff were outstanding – so friendly and always ready to help. A special thanks to Maria and Christina at the reception, who shared so many details about the island and helped us plan our activities. Thanks to their guidance, we enjoyed an amazing cruise ride, which became one of the highlights of our trip. The restaurant team was equally warm and welcoming. Petros and Kostas in particular made our dining experience extra special with their kindness and attentive service. Another great convenience was the hotel’s shuttle service to the city, which made exploring Santorini so much easier. Thank you to the whole team at Volcano View Hotel you made our stay truly memorable. Wishing you all the very best!

They don’t honor the room cost price match posted on their website. I truly do not like leaving reviews for properties not based on room quality or service but this is not ok. On their reservations page on the website, they have a statement that says they will price match from other sites. I was reserving a large number of rooms for my wedding and so I preferred to book directly with the hotel and wrote them asking for the price match. Someone wrote me back basically saying that sites like booking.com and Expedia pay them what they have posted and are able to post lower prices because they take a cut out of their fees. While this may be a true business model, it has nothing to do with the price match. The rooms on the hotel website were at least $500 more for the cheapest room category , so this mattered a lot since we are covering these rooms ourselves. Sad because I really wanted to stay here for my wedding but I didn’t get a good feeling from that interaction and this is a big event. I ended up booking 28 rooms for 4 nights at another property for my guests.

Friendly and professional staff. The view from our room and on the terrace during breakfast and dinner could be in a magazine. The servers were knowledgeable and would check in on our table various times throughout our breakfast, and also recommend things to do during our visit. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, with many options and included hot drinks prepared by the barista. The only cons I would mention is the slight smell from the toilet (this was only noticeable when the seat was up) and the frequency of the shuttles to fira, seeing as it’s a 5 minute drive they could have offered more than 5 departures throughout the day. Regardless, would definitely book again (rooms are half price during office season, we paid $900 euros for 5 nights)

Title: Trip ruined by rude staff and false advertising! Do not stay here with family! We booked the Volcano View Hotel expecting a beautiful family trip to Santorini, having included all details about our child in the reservation. Our excitement turned into a nightmare on October 12, 2025, at noon, when we were told at reception that the main property is "adults-only." This crucial information was never mentioned during our booking process. The staff's attitude was completely unacceptable. Instead of trying to help, the lady at the desk was shockingly rude and unhelpful. She refused to speak to us properly and simply dismissed our family's ruined plans. After a long, stressful conversation, her "solution" was to put us in a sister property that had no caldera or volcano view—the very thing we booked for. The misrepresentation and lack of communication from Volcano View wasted a significant portion of our precious and limited time in Santorini. We spent hours dealing with this mess instead of enjoying our vacation. The fact that the hotel took our family booking and then rejected us upon arrival is a pathetic bait-and-switch. This hotel has shown a complete disregard for its guests and should not be trusted. The staff's unprofessionalism and the bait-and-switch tactics are inexcusable. We were left scrambling to find new accommodations and completely lost the relaxing, beautiful experience we had planned. Our Santorini trip was completely ruined by this hotel's incompetence. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs, especially if you have a family.

I’m not typically the type to leave google reviews but I’d be remiss if I didn’t put out the good word about volcano view for any of those who are considering a stay here. From start to finish there wasn’t a single beat missed. The service was incredible at one of the highest levels I’ve experienced to date. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone and everyone traveling (to Santorini) for the first time and for experienced travelers as well; needless to say I’ll be returning next year. I’d like to give a special shoutout to George from the restaurant who was part of the hotel staff. He went above and beyond each and every day making our stay beyond comfortable as if we were at home. 10/10.

The Museum of Prehistoric Thera is a small but impressive archaeology museum located in the picturesque capital of Santorini, Thira. Divided into four units, the museum showcases ancient artifacts from different periods of the island's history, including the Late Neolithic to the Late Cycladic period and the mature Late Cycladic period.
Very good. Being indoors was a bonus so you're not in the sun! Found out afterwards that you can buy a ticket which includes the museum in Fira but the cost isn't too much when buying separately. Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately when we visited we were not able to walk between the ruins due to the earthquakes earlier in the year and the possibility of more but still an amazing visit.

An interesting, small museum — the visit will take less than an hour. The €10 entrance fee is greatly overpriced. There’s a toilet inside, but it’s poorly cleaned and has an unpleasant smell. The air conditioning barely works, making the halls stuffy, especially on the basement level. Nice place, but too expensive.

A beautifully curated museum that brings ancient Thera to life. The frescoes are stunning, especially the Spring and Blue Monkeys, and the explanations are clear and engaging. It’s not large, but every room is rich in history and well-presented. A must-visit in Santorini for anyone interested in archaeology or Cycladic culture.

Fascinating museum that we went to the day after going to Akrotiri and so so saw the artifacts and wall paintings that were found at that site and referred to in the information boards around the site. Beautiful things, their homes must have been stunning - or at least those of the better off. The museum shows them off really well. Not huge - took us around an hour - but well worth seeing. Puts the site in context.

Fira Theotokopoulos Main Square

4.6
(1622)
Fira Theotokopoulos Main Square is a bustling and compact area that offers stunning sea views and is surrounded by charming shops, al fresco dining spots, and cozy cafes. You can find a variety of amenities here including small coffee shops for breakfast or evening drinks, ice cream parlors, Chinese restaurants, local eateries, pharmacies, banks, ATMs, souvenir shops, and even a department store nearby.
Lots of places to eat all kinds of food. Lots of convenient stands. It is a central square where all the walks converge into. Great stopping spot after a full day of walking the steps of Fira. A must visit attraction for the entire family.

Buzzing part of the town, just up the road you will find the only International fast food place on the island. I only got one pic of the square of the place they sells Gyros, but also take the meandering back streets through the alleyways to get to the most beautiful church and sunset view. That you can see for free without booking in a fancy restaurant. And the restaurants on the cliff have amazing views and food for all budgets. I wouldn’t buy a Gyro from one of the fancy places, they are €5 on the square. Parking is a bit stressful on busy days get there before 6pm and you will be fine. The government must do something about the free public car parks, full of white sand, ditches and people just park anywhere.

Beautiful views, wonderful shops. Take the tram, donkeys, or walk. The walk is challenging but doable.
Lance H — Google review
Came here twice as it's a very busy place with lots of walking. We split our 1st day with a town walk, cable car ride down to the old port which is 10e each, a bar visit which we found that is behind the main restaurants and then a donkey trek back up also 10e each. The main reason for that was when you get 3 cruise ships every day the place buzzes with hundreds of people and they queue for the cable car so our option was the ten minute donkey ride instead of waiting an hour for the cable ride. After sussing the best place to be for the sunset we decided to make it another afternoon visit as the ships start to depart and gets a bit quieter. Plenty to do before hand though.

Very nice, not very crowded and a lot of shops and restaurants, it was my favorite town in Santorini, best place to watch the sunset.

Nice square with great views. The church maybe visited. Several hotels and shops around.

The Three Bells of Fira, also known as the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, is a much-photographed church with its distinctive blue dome and whitewashed walls offering stunning views of the Aegean Sea. It's a popular spot in Fira and has been featured on many postcards.
What a remarkable, stunning, breathtaking view of Santorini! One of the most inspiring spots in all of the island. Set your camera down or your phone down. Take some pictures, sure. But remember to stop and enjoy the view. There is nothing in the world like it.
Eric H — Google review
Well worth the walk up, or the donkey ride but the cable cars take all the strain out of it! We arrived via cruise ship so had cable cars included, we then walked for miles and found the Three Bells of Fira. Beautiful no other words!
Our A — Google review
So beautiful! Definitely worth visiting and taking pictures! Lines can great pretty crazy, They are ways to access them if you are staying in Oia or go very early (7am)
Sonia M — Google review
We followed the signs to the Three Bells of Fira and it was worth it. The viewpoint offers a stunning panorama of the caldera, with the iconic blue-domed church perfectly framed against the Aegean Sea. You can also see Skaros Rock and the cliffside villages in the distance
Clifton P — Google review
The Three Bells of Fira is one of the most iconic photo spots in Santorini, but here’s a tip: don’t just navigate to the church itself. To capture the classic postcard view, you need to walk around to the back via another path and search for “Viewpoint” instead. Totally worth it for the perfect shot!
Alec T — Google review
It’s a beautiful spot and definitely a must-see—but honestly, it was very overrated. The crowds were overwhelming, people pushing for photos, and the whole area felt like a chaotic mess. It completely took away from the serene essence you’d expect from Santorini. I left feeling more stressed than inspired. If you want to enjoy it, avoid going during peak summer season. The view is lovely, but the experience during high season was disappointing.
Abe D — Google review
Beautiful place to visit in Santorini. Must see the blue domes but there are plenty to see and go down different alleyways rather than queue to get photos.

Not as pretty as all the pictures and definitely not worth the hike. Especially if you go by the water side trail where there are a 100 steps.

Nick The Grill is a popular spot in Santorini known for serving up local staples like gyros, kebabs, souvlaki, burgers, and falafel. It's a modest pit stop that attracts both young and old Greeks who flock there in the evenings to satisfy their cravings. Despite being busy, the service is fast. While there's no seating available, visitors can enjoy their food standing up or find shelter under the awning during rainy days.
The food is one of the best souvlakis I had during my trip around greek isles. Potatoes are perfectly crunchy! The service is quick and staff is very friendly. The seating space can be a little crowded and tight but the food makes it worth it!
Brenda P — Google review
Good central location. Relatively fast service. Fresh food... but could be better. I ordered the port gyros... veggies (onions, lettuce) -- fresh and tasty. Fries -- not keen on the flavor but hot, crispy and freshly made. Pork gyro -- very dry ... difficult to eat. Atmosphere -- tables clean. Covered area -- lots of shaded area. Fan to help keep things cool.
Derrick S — Google review
Ordered the vegetarian souvlaki which had goes, feta cheese, tomato fritters, house sauce, salad, onions and pita bread. We really like it and the price is also very reasonable. The atmosphere is nice as it’s on the Santorini main square.

Great portion, I had the lamb gyro it was pretty good. The falafels are a bit over cooked, but great flavour inside. Service was great, super friendly staff.

Greek restaurant
Mama's Restaurant & Wine Bar is a charming Greek eatery located in Fira, offering a delightful rooftop dining experience with bright and airy outdoor seating. The restaurant is known for its romantic ambiance and Mediterranean-style dishes such as tzatziki and seafood, all bursting with flavor that keeps guests coming back for more. Visitors highly recommend the grilled chicken, green salad, chicken pasta, lamb shank, omelets with spinach and feta cheese for breakfast, and the flavorful meatballs.
We were directed here by our tour guide and felt rushed to take a seat (by her, not the staff)! Once we were settled in and waited on, we were definitely glad to have enjoyed our first taste of Santorini at this wonderful restaurant. The owner was extremely friendly and spoke with us often. Watching him work and interact with his staff and the guests was like watching a well oiled machine! The food was absolutely fantastic!

This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been too. Service is excellent. Very kind and humorous. The drinks were phenomenal. I was a little disappointed in the main entrees. The steak I ordered was a little bland. The shrimp tempora made up for it, though. Sat in the rooftop balcony and watched the sunset over the mountains. Gorgeous views. Would definitely recommend trying this restaurant!

We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Mama’s! The service was excellent—our wait staff, Andreas and Alex, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They were attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. I ordered the Greek moussaka, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My husband had the meatballs with mashed potatoes, and he couldn’t stop raving about how delicious and comforting the dish was. From the warm hospitality to the outstanding food, everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend Mama’s to anyone visiting the area!
Nicole M — Google review
This place is all about the aesthetics! The food was mediocre at best and there was nothing special about the service. The octopus was delicious. The salmon was bland. The lamb shank didn't even compare to the one had at black sand beach in Santorini. A one and done restaurant.

Mama's was such a delightful stop for lunch. The staff at the front are very helpful and do not pressure you to enter. We were able to get a table on their beautiful rooftop garden - stunning set up and view. Aesthetics and vibes of relaxation. Food was lovely and you definitely get your moneys worth. The service was also fantastic. We had a charming server named Andreas who was very attentive and kind - even let me practice my Greek! I would definitely recommend visiting Mama's if you're in Fira! 😊
Casey J — Google review
The restaurant has a beautiful decor and excellent service. It’s located in the center, making it a good option for a late dinner, but not ideal for watching the sunset. We ordered the Santorini salad, cheese rolls with honey, chicken souvlista, and linguine pasta with shrimp and quinces. The chicken tasted different from other places, with what seemed like tandoori spices. As for the pasta, it was absolutely delicious. I also had their best selling drink (forget what they called it) it was very refreshing.
Mohamed B — Google review
We had some of the best Greek food here with exceptional service. We ordered the Santorini salad and bread. It was amazing! I am particular about which types of tomatoes I like so I was skeptical, but, it was delicious & a perfect starter. Then, we ordered the pork Kebab meat plate. The meat was perfect. My daughter ordered the seafood pasta dish and we didn’t love it as much. We enjoyed our meal upstairs on the outdoor balcony and it was perfect!
Lati M — Google review
Mama's was recommended to us by our guide when we meandered past it on our tour of Santorini. We remembered the mention and retraced our steps after the guide bid us farewell. It was lunch time and the patio seating was almost empty, so no waiting. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The patio is a magical shaded spot with palms draped in fabric to form a canopy to keep the sun off you while you enjoy the breeze. And then the food! It was recommended that we try tomatokeftedes (tomato fritters) while we were in Greece and they had them on the menu! They are absolutely delicious and might have been my favorite part of the meal! But all the food was spectacular -- we had fava dip, a stellar gyro plate, and grilled octopus. My husband even tried grappa (he was not a fan) while I had a lemoncello (which I heartily enjoyed). If you're in Santorini, definitely put Mama's on the top of your restaurant list.

Nestled in the charming village of Firostefani, Mama Thira Tavern is a traditional restaurant perched on a cliff above the picturesque caldera. The breathtaking sunset view from the upper floor window tables adds to the dining experience. Offering a blend of traditional Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by an impressive selection of local wines, this tavern provides delicious meals with generous portions.
Lovely restaurant with great food, drinks, and service! I had the BEST salad (Rocket-Spinach) and my husband ordered the lamb chops, which he LOVED! The majority of our group ordered all of the different muscles and raved about them. Everyone shared appetizers as well… everything we ate was delicious! This spot is decorated adorably & had great views from the upstairs dining.

The gentleman will welcome you with “Yes, please” and will repeat it many times while you are dining here. It’s best to have reservation if you want to enjoy the best view. But they’ll be glad to accommodate you without one if possible. Food? Exceptional! You will not regret your time and money if you come here.

Nice restaurant with a good view, very clean and efficiently run - maybe a little too efficient, as staff rushing around unnecessarily. We visited for lunch around 2pm and there were around 6 tables occupied, although the staff were polite, they seemed to be chasing around too much. We had drinks and salads; which were a little on the small side, but nicely presented. Fruit juice was ridiculously priced at 10€ and tasted like it came from a carton!

We came here for lunch because it looks so cute! The view is beautiful. The ravioli was phenomenal! We also really liked the chicken risotto because it has incredible flavor but the chicken was a tad bit chewy.

Very good food ,60 € 2 person, and nice view. There is water on the table and the waiter is poring you in the glass without asking you( I believed it was free, but no,they charge you 4-5 euro for the water). The same water is 1,5-2,20 euro in the market places. Clean bathroom.

Amazing food. Amazing service! After taking in the amazing views, we came across Mama Thira Tavern, and after reading reviews about making reservations in and around the area, I popped in and asked if I could reserve a table for 1 hour later. I am so glad I did as we had a table at the front so we could watch the beautiful sunset go down. I did see people walk in without a reservation and was greeted warmly, but I would recommend reserving as in the height of the season, it probably will be busier. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. For starters, my husband and I both had the crab cakes, and oh wow! They were amazing. For the main i had the seabream and my husband had chicken and white sauce and again the food was fresh and tasted so good. The wine was the best wine I have been served whilst being in Santorini, and I have had a lot!! Thank you to all the staff. You made our Fira sunset memory one to always cherish 💙🤍

Nestled on the edge of a cliff in Firostefani, Mylos Champagne Bar - Restaurant offers stunning views of the sea and volcano. The restaurant's romantic ambiance is enhanced by glowing lights and candle-lit tables, providing a comfortable setting with pillows for an enjoyable evening. In addition to Mediterranean dishes, Mylos also serves delectable sushi. Housed inside an old windmill, this sophisticated bar provides fine dining experiences and delightful desserts like the Chocolate Painting.
The atmosphere the vibe and the service are top tier. Very luxurious and fine. For the food the Asian fusion particularly impressed me as the tastes were so delicious and fulfilling. The tuna tartare and the shrimp tempura sushi are soooo good! I really recommend. The seats by the sea are also a great place to watch the sunset. The only thing I would say is that the chocolate mouse has some improvements to be made. The chocolate mouse seems to have too much cream and not enough chocolate making the mouse taste like a cream mouse rather than a chocolate mouse. The hazelnut cream only makes it much more thick in the cream flavor. Not the best.

Hands down, one of the best places to eat we had sea bass 4 ways and every dish was SO top notch being from Florida fresh fish and fusion are a welcomed and exciting style the guys were awesome, get the fire grilled broccoli Love this place would absolutely do a night here if you’re staying here in Fira or close by!

One main course was about 50 euro. A multi course dinner was about 180 euro. 1 kg fish of the day was 130 euro. Food was awesome. Probably best fine dining experience you can get on this island. Price wise, just like every where else on the island, over priced. But we were happy. Staff was a bit too proactive to ask for tip like other places on island.

Food, service and atmosphere were all amazing. Recently traveled to Santorini for a week and did a lot of research on restaurants. We loved Mylos so much, we went there twice for dinner. Drinks were great! The grilled octopus was the best we’ve ever had! The sushi is top tier with innovative combinations and ultimate freshness. The Baklava was equally amazing - I honestly daydream about it sometimes. The staff was so gracious and appreciative when we came back for a second visit during our trip. They were attentive and personable from start to finish. Lastly, the views are incredible. Thank you, Mylos, for two perfect meals.

My partner brought me here for my birthday dinner after hearing that it was in the top 50 restaurants in the world. The food here was phenomenal. Some of the best we have had. Their bread and truffle butter is something we will be thinking about until we return. Their mussel in tomato broth was also so beautiful and delicate. Will return from Australia to visit this restaurant again.

This place is absolutely fantastic. It’s beautiful, picturesque walk to the restaurant which is modern yet inviting and warm. The service is impeccable. Our host made us feel like we had been invited to a dinner party at his home. Better yet that he was throwing one for my cousin’s birthday. The food was OUTSTANDING. I had pork neck and the risotto. There were 4 of us and every meal and appetizer was superb. I loved the Santorini wine that was recommended. Our host took photos of us inside and outside. We got shots of ouzo and these wonderful chocolate truffles before leave. We also got great recommendations for nightlife after. I hope I’m fortunate enough to visit again.

Skaros Rock is a centuries-old castle ruin perched on a rugged outcrop, offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. This long-lost citadel in Santorini is a romantic and secluded spot to witness the mesmerizing sunset, steeped in the island's rich history and imposing atmosphere. Accessible via a steep track, it provides an ideal vantage point for admiring the glorious sunset.
Great little hike not for those who need assistance. It is a hiking trail that is at the bottom of a very steep set of concrete steps. I would estimate about 100 steps to get to the bottom so you can then transfer to a gravel trail. I loved the hike and the exercise it was excellent and absolutely what I anticipated.. I will just say that it is NOT for the folks who would need assistance.
Brian L — Google review
Lovely place to go for a short hike of roughly 60 minutes. The views from the rock are breathtaking and best to hike it in the morning (especially during hot summer months) when you get plenty of shaded area on the other side of the rock with lots of breeze thay feels quite refreshing. There is a lovely church on the back side and lots of amazing view points.
P S — Google review
I climbed Skaros Rock last year and again this year, right to the base of the summit. Below is the pretty Panagia Theoskepas Chapel. I wanted to reach the top of the rock, but I haven't found the access path yet. However, I regularly see people at the very top. Tourists without climbing gear! How do they manage? I would like to succeed. Despite everything, a beautiful landscape unfolds before us. Simply magnificent...
M-Francoise C — Google review
This is one of the best hiking trails in Santorini. It’s not very long but includes some ups and downs — part of the trail goes through village stairs and part over rugged terrain. The views are stunning, and on the rock itself, you can see the remains of an ancient fortress. A truly recommended hike!
Hila — Google review
A great hike that is definitely not for those in need to assistance. We walked from Santorini Princess so it was all in all good cardio. From actually starting the Skaros Rock trail to the second church in the other side of the point and back it took about 1 hour and another 1/2 hour for taking pictures, but my partner and I were setting a fast pace. BRING/WEAR TENNIS SHOES IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT ARUBD THE ROCK TO THE SECOND CHURCH COMFORTABLY. Lots of stairs and lots of places to go off trail, and even up the rock if you are adventurous. Very beautiful hike!
Gaby O — Google review
Very nice hike to do early in the morning, before the Sun gets too far overhead, we didn't quite make sunrise, but we were only about an hour behind walk through the city down a secret stairway and descend down to skaros rock... I will highly recommend wearing some good. Hiking shoes or very good. Equipped running shoes with extra grip as the terrain is loose gravel and some pretty Steep inclines also some steep declines, so be prepared, have water and take breaks, but if you walk out all the way to the Inn, there is a little blue domed church that you cannot see from the city itself highly recommend taking this walk. Very quiet, very peaceful, exceptionally, beautiful. The only place we took a hike where you feel like you're out in the ocean closest point to the Volcano. Simply magic go now.
LAND R — Google review
Totally worth the hike down. Apparently used to be an epic Medieval castle that’s now ruins. A little sketchy in spots - be careful by the edges of course - but otherwise not that difficult to walk around. Great view inside the caldera and of the volcano. Bring some water for the hike back up 😅

The Santorini Cable Car is an essential experience for anyone visiting this stunning Greek island. This gondola ride effortlessly connects the bustling town of Fira to the picturesque Old Port below, making it a fantastic alternative to navigating the steep stairs or opting for donkey rides. In just about three minutes, passengers are treated to breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the iconic whitewashed buildings that cling to the cliffs.
Way better than walking up or down. Only took cash when I went. 10 € per person each way.

Lovely views of La caldera…. I took the steps going down to the harbour was a big mistake, so my plan was to take back the cable car was the best decision ever. I think is a bit expensive for time of the ride. 2 mins €6, queues can be up to 2 hours if you have a cruise mooring in Santorini. The old harbour is small you will expect to be crowded. But I was lucky I took the cable car around 5.30pm the lines were 15 mins
Ljubica B — Google review
staff rude and not helpful who guides you to the cars .. I cannot sit backwards and staff even not bothered to listen … so what you will do if I faint inside the car? though team in the cash desk are nice and polite giving 5 stars only because I work myself in hospitality and not fair of one person to put all experience as bad you can pay card and cash one way

Very comfortable ride... And so cheap.. just a 1 EUR you can go up for crew members... And guest 2 EUR ... Love to to ride again
Tapas M — Google review
6€ is crazy pricey. Lower the cost or at least offer a student discount. It is only a 2 minute trip! At least you save time for going up and down the old port of Fira. It would take you like 40-50 minutes both ways and now you do the same distance in 5 minutes.

Very busy cable car station. Getting down is very doable as the waiting line and queue is mostly shaded from the sun. Ticket to get down per person is €6. If you want to go up, that's another €6, which you buy at the lower station. TIP: Plan your return when going back up. We were unlucky enough to clash with 3 tourists boats and we waited about 1.5 hours in queue... Overall, this is the most convenient way to get down to the port.

Awesome! The donkey trail is disgusting and long. Smells of animal waste the whole way. It’s gross especially near the beginning 1/3 and end 1/3. The bottom 1/3 is so smelly you may feel sick. Pay the $6 and enjoy!
Kevin Y — Google review
Very convenient trip to and from the port. Much easier than the stairs! Also, breathtaking views. If you time it right, you can watch the sunset from the bottom, take the cable car up, and watch the sunset all over again.

Nestled in the heart of Fira, the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist stands as a testament to Santorini's rich history and architectural beauty. This Catholic cathedral, originally constructed in 1923 and later renovated after an earthquake in 1956, showcases exquisite 18th-century decor and intricate sandstone architecture. Its stunning painted ceilings are a feast for the eyes, making it a must-visit landmark while exploring this vibrant island.
We visited during the off-season and were lucky to find the cathedral empty and peaceful. After walking from the center of Fira, it was the perfect spot to rest. The interior is calm and serene — a truly soothing space that felt spiritually refreshing. A lovely stop in town.

There's nothing I enjoy better than visiting a church. This one was on a hill (like most of Greece) lol. It wasn't crowded at all. I went inside to light a candle and found it to be so peaceful. It was quiet and as the signs on the outside stated, "a stress free zone". I truly loved it here.

We visited Fira on a Sunday afternoon. The cathedral is beautiful! The cathedral was open for visitors. Signs on the door ask that you be quiet and remove your hat. The inside was so peaceful. It is a quiet place for reflection and/or prayer. There are candles which you can light. Simply beautiful! There is no fee to visit.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Holy Cathedral of Fira (Santorini, Greece) The Holy Cathedral in Fira is absolutely beautiful and rich in history. The architecture is stunning, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a must-see while in Santorini. Whether you stop in for quiet reflection or simply to admire the art and views, it’s a truly special place that captures the island’s spirit.

Sunday Mass was at a consistent time of 10:00 AM as posted. The priest and community was very welcoming to tourists and had a translator assisting. There were multiple worship aids in various languages that followed along that particular Sunday. All were encouraged to respond in their own language. After Mass the priest gave blessings to married couples. The music was also beautiful.

The Holy Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Santorini is a beautiful Orthodox church located in the heart of the island. Its graceful architecture and soft colors blend perfectly with the stunning surroundings. It’s definitely worth visiting for anyone exploring Santorini.

Built in 1823. It was completely restored and rebuilt in 1970, after the earthquake of 1956. If you get in on a sunny day you can capture a nice picture of rainbow light coming through the stained glass windows.

Loved the service of the Eucharist at this church. The priest hand picked people before the mass to be part of the readings, homily and offering.

The Archaeological Museum of Thera, located in the capital of Fira, Santorini, is a treasure trove of ancient artifacts. It showcases a wide range of archaeological finds including vases, frescoes, sculptures, and inscriptions from different periods such as Archaic to Roman. The museum also features vessels dating back to the Geometric until the Hellenistic Era.
Nice small museum in the middle of the shops. Great air conditioning! 30-60 experience.

A small museum with some great exhibits, however the museum experience would be greatly enhanced if they provided WiFi for visitors as it is not possible to download the app or use the audio guide without WiFi and without the audio guide the visitor experience is limited. The staff were not welcoming or friendly and said WiFi was for staff only. It is a also a pity that the best antiquities from Santorini are in the Archaeological Museum in Athens.

I just visited the exhibition “Kykladitisses: Untold Stories of Women in the Cyclades" It will last until the end of October. The museum just finished renovation in June. It looks quite different with the old one.

This museum is a must see for lovers of the ancient world. The display cases are well organized and signage is all in Greek and English. The most remarkable exhibit is on the lower floor, with astonishing frescoes from Akrotiri.

Quite disappointing; small with maybe two or three important items to see. But there is more to come! There is a whole new side to it. So maybe in the future will be better. Not too polite staff.
Nicoleta G — Google review
All travellers with an interest in ancient art should make a concerted effort to visit the impressive and fascinating exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of Thera. It focuses on "the roles, representations, and daily lives of women in the Cycladic islands from prehistory through antiquity". In the first place there is now on display a remarkable group of important and unusual works, many of which are truly beautiful. Most of these works have been loaned by numerous Cycladic museums and by major museums of Crete and Athens. (It is wonderful that so many institutions have collaborated so effectively.) Of course, several fine works from the museum's own permanent collection are on display. Secondly, these works of art are beautifully displayed in a throughly contemporary manner in recently renovated galleries. Moreover, the English-language explanations and labels are clear and helpful. What is also special is that the exhibition has a clear focus, namely the roles of women in the Cycladic Islands. Fortunately the approach is broad and not dogmatic; the topics addressed include religion, beauty, domestic activities, sex, violence, and legal status. In short, the works on display are beautiful and fascinating.

Um ... This is just... Nope... It's neither archeological nor a museum, technically this is a galerie you pay 10 eu to get in and only has women from all history, both archeological history and recent. What does french paintings and iconographise from the 18th century have to do with archeology? And nothing on santorini. I feel i learned nothing in there other than the fact that there is violence against women. All the exibits just said that time and again, and 80% of them weren't even from santorini but from the rest of greece. Really dissapointed, really not worth it. The subject could have been one part of the exhibition, not the whole "museum".

Santorini caldera

Volcano
Santorini caldera is a mostly submerged volcanic crater with quaint hillside lodging, boat tours, and panoramic seaside views. Nea Kameni, also known as Nea Kaimeni, is the volcano at the center of the caldera. It began forming around 1570 and is the most recently created land section in the Mediterranean Sea. The area covers 340 hectares with its highest point at 127 meters above sea level.
Favorite place on the planet. Inspriring views at every turn of the corner. Yes, it is crowded too. And there's a good reason for that. There is no island in the world like this place, so people come in droves. And when you visit once, you leave thinking and planning of the day you'll return again. You can't help it.

Absolutely stunning, it's definitely a bucket list holiday and we highly recommend it🥰👍👌

The caldera, now mostly submerged, filled with water from the Mediterranean. Some parts over 1,000 feet deep. Cliffs emerge throughout the crescent of Santorini. Matchless views. Spectacular sunsets.

The most beautiful and peaceful experience ever. We were on a lovely catamaran with private chef, captain and personal tour guide. The meal was exquisite with bottomless wine 🥂, the Greek salad 🥗 was so fresh the hues of green, red and purple that caused me to salivate! The feta was incomparable to what we buy here in the states! The red beach iron stained hues from ancient volcanic eruption was captivating. The hot springs with snorkeling and pockets of warm water felt amazing!

It is a must visit place in Santorini. The place is so beautiful near the sea. You can go there by ferries from Santorini port which takes about 1-1.25 hours and about 30-35 minutes while driving from Santorini. There are good stores for buying different merchandise of Greece. There you can visit at afternoon and can enjoy sunset before leaving.

Art Space Art Gallery - Winery - Museum is a historic winery on the island of Santorini, known for its high-quality wines made using traditional methods and unique technologies. The owner, Mr. Antonis Argyros, has developed a special grape-growing method to ensure top-notch quality. The winery prides itself on producing biological, organic products without any chemicals or filters.
I WISH I COULD GIVE IT MORE STARS. THE BEST WINERY EXPERIENCE!! I’ve no words to describe how memorable and lovely the experience was. I’ve been to quite a few wineries but this one will always be one for the books. The primary reason is the owner and the people working here. We had the honor of meeting this beautiful soul and the owner, Mr. Antonio, a 76-year old passionate entrepreneur. His father and ancestors have been in the wine making business. It was amazing to see the pictures there of his family back from the days before is born. Arts Space is neither your regular winery nor commercial; it’s a place driven by passion and creativity with a mix of wine-making and out of the world art pieces (most created by a Greek artist exclusively for Arts Space). The tour continued to be provided by Esmeralda, a lovely lady working with this place for years. She explained the wines very well and even offered us a tasting of an exclusive organic wine which is not a part of the wine tasting. Each of the 7 wines during the tasting were exquisite, I personally fell in love with the dessert wine.

Lovely, kind people and a very cute place. Such a unique experience here; I really feel like we got an authentic look into the traditional winery business of Santorini. The owner was so friendly and happily hosted us. Definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment to ensure they have time/space for you, as the tasting space is somewhat small. Be sure to check out the art!

DO NOT ORDER WINE TO SHIP TO THE UNITED STATES. The tasting was great: cute space, great artwork, lovely tour guide. My friend and I ordered a case of wine to be shipped to North Carolina, totaling, with shipping, over $1500. We ordered in September and I had heard heard nothing and received no wine in October. I emailed and was told they didn't know if they could ship it to us due to new laws. I was told they would have more info by the end of the month. No one reached out and I emailed them again this week only to be told that they can't ship it and I need to contact my bank to get my money back. I asked why they wouldn't process a refund and was again just told I have to contact my bank to get my money back. This seems like a scam and it is most definitely horrible customer service. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS AND ITS SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Visited here on Tuesday during a private tour and what a fantastic place which is run by the family! Excellent wine tasting and amazing artworks. I couldn't resist leaving Santorini without taking the painting back with me so I got the driver detour and purchased it! All the wines and the painting were packed so perfectly by the team and thank you for everything!

Our favorite winery on the island, and doubles as a great art studio featuring local and international artists. The tour was good and the wine tasting was great! The tour is free and the wine tasting is only 20€ for 6 wines, some graviera cheese, and bread. The Mezzo dessert wine is must-try!

Lovely experience! Christos from Black Pearl took us to Art Space, where we got a private tour of the space and enjoyed looking at art and drinking awesome wines. We tasted 7-8 different types of wine, while learning about the history of wine/ agriculture in Greece. The aesthetics of this place is rustic and stunning at the same time. Love the vibe and culture of the establishment. Thank you! P.S. This red wine called Mezzo is so sweet and perfect for anyone who loves a delicious candy-sweet red wine. I had to buy one to bring back to the U.S. I may order more directly from Art Space!

Wonderful tour given by owner. The winery has been is his family for generations. Learned a lot about how they make wine, ouzo, and raki (rah ki). Beautiful property with art and great views. Recommend if you want a wine tasting experience focusing on quality wines and history of Santorini winemaking.

What a nice surprise from this boutique winery! We stopped by and Esmeralda gave us a wonderful tour of the winery! She guided us through and gave us a history lesson of the winery and the region! The wine caves were beautiful and full of history of their wine making! Esmeralda was super friendly and a wonderful hostess and guided us through the wine tasting experience! We fully recommend a stop here! We will be back while on our visit!

Love love love the food here! Chanced upon this family restaurant and the food blown our minds! It was so good we came back a second time again for dinner! Wow wow wow! A must visit if you are in Santorini. We were so impressed when we visited that we came back a second time to try other menu items. The first time we didn't book, so we were sat inside which was a lovely location, very small but very pretty. Staff were friendly, we had the tomato keftedes and mushroom pasta. Very high quality and delicious! The second time we booked, and were given an incredible table with views across the sea at sunset - wow We tried the feta balls, shrimp pasta, lamb shank and the dessert of the day. Absolutely amazing. The staff were even more friendly than the day before. The lamb shank is a must! Although for a lunch time visit, it was not ready. Exceptional!

Had a great dinner here. Octopus and fava bean puree to start, which was delicious. Followed by lamb shank and moussaka, which were both fantastic! Finished with a desert of the day. Highly recommend this for a sunset dinner. A carafe of decent house white wine is only 7.50 euros too! €82 in total for two.

The food is delicious. It's very expensive, but expected given the location. The staff speak English and others. Great ambience, but it the food was so good that it would've been good even if it was closet.

This was a charming, and authentic Restaurant which although lacking the glitz of some of the upmarket and much more expensive options pulled no punches. With its delicious fresh and beautifully presented Rustic Santorinian dishes specific to the island, as well as exceptional Greek fare. It was much more reasonably priced than would be found in either the US, or UK. The restaurants real charm is its fidelity to its Greek roots, the concrete façade steeped in Blue and white perched near the cliff overlooking the old harbour. Unlike the generic glass and chrome you might see elsewhere (and which could be anywhere really). The waiter even gave us a complementary digestif, and was a thoughtful but not overbearing server.

The pizza are excellent. The main dishes like pasta and the appetizer are good too. The seafood risotto would be much better if it was creamier but it was ok. The desserts are homemade but not the best - the main dishes were better. Service is good and quick.

I just happened to stumble across this hidden gem before taking the sky tram back to the cruise ferry. The hospitality was amazing as I wanted to freshen up before dinner. I enjoyed the cold water and at last the entree. The chicken Alfredo was amazing ( I forgot the native name) I really enjoyed the fresh tasting pasta the most! The Fanta orange drink was very refreshing. Now the most important detail…my waiter Emilio was amazing and attentive. I plan to visit Santorini again soon, and of course I will dine here again!

The Athenian House is a top culinary destination in Santorini, located in Imerovigli with stunning sunset views of the caldera. It offers a relaxed and refined atmosphere and is known for its Michelin-starred chef Jero Serres' creations. The restaurant has received multiple awards and is listed among the 50 best restaurants in the world.
One word: Spectacular! Wow I couldn’t be happier to pick this place for our Honeymoon Dinner in Santorini. The Sunset view is to die for. Simply breathtaking. Every single dish in the course was amazing, on top of the music and excellent customer service. This will forever be in my memory as one of the best dining experience. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had the Heritage Tasting celebration dinner with champagne at the Athenian House in late May 2025 for our 30th Anniversary. The view was absolutely gorgeous and we got some great sunset photos taken by our waiter. The food was delicious and presentation fantastic. The service however was lacking at times. It was obvious the staff were busy. We were sitting next to other Americans who talked loudly with their neighbors, while we were trying to enjoy a quiet evening, at an expensive restaurant. However, it is understandable why the tables are close together. The view and food are well worth it!

Amazing food and service. It’s our first night of our Santorini Honeymoon and we just enjoyed it so much. The staff and service are outstanding and the flavors are on point. You have to try the desserts which are delicious and very extraordinary. The vibes and music during and after sunset were also impeccable. The owner of the restaurant was around and treated us like royalty. Overall full 5 stars.

I recently visited The Athenian House in Santorini, and while the setting was absolutely stunning, the food left much to be desired. The location and atmosphere are beyond compare — perched above the caldera with an unforgettable sunset view, it’s one of the most breathtaking dining spots on the island. The ambiance is elegant and romantic, perfect for a special evening. The service was exceptional — attentive, polite, and professional. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and enjoyed our time. However, the food was disappointing. Despite the beautiful presentation, the flavors were underwhelming and did not live up to the restaurant’s reputation or price point. The portions were small, and for the cost, I expected a far more memorable dining experience. Overall, The Athenian House is worth visiting for the view, atmosphere, and service, but not for the food itself. It’s a place where the scenery outshines the cuisine.
Roshauna L — Google review
We went to multiple “fine dining” restaurants in Santorini and this was the only one that was truly of that standard. The food is very good (entrees are a bit small though). The service by the majority of staff was top notch, except for the manager (a guy, he was very rude and not friendly). I’ve given it 5 stars but it’s more like 4.5 (at best) Book for sunset, otherwise it gets too quiet and cold. It’s a great view, however, their tables positioned bit odd (one person with their back to the view, rather than sitting next to each other) Cocktails are great, recommend to jubilee. For food, recommend anything with shrimp as they were the better dishes. Desserts were not that good.

Our favorite spot from the entire trip! The beef carpaccio and shrimp appetizer were absolutely amazing. The fish of the day was perfectly cooked—so tender and beautifully seasoned. And the seafood pasta? Hands down the BEST seafood pasta I’ve ever had! We ended the meal with the most incredible baklava—flaky, sweet, and unforgettable. What made everything even better was the outstanding service. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming—they truly made the whole experience extra special.

First night we had dinner at five sense and it’s was phenomenal there so we were excited and had high expectations for this restaurant. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing, the food portions were super tiny and not good and our meal was over 3 hours long- dishes took at least 10-20 mins in between. They’re trying to be a Michelin star restaurant but falling short in every way. Wish we had saved our last meal for the Michelin restaurant next door. Their star or main dish that their known for which is lamb moussaka, the lamb was very dry! Also I didn’t take a picture of the calamari but the size was about my thumbnail - my husband will still hungry after his 8 course tasting which was $180 euros. Overall we would not come back. The view is nice but that’s all they have going for it.

I went there on 27.09.2024. Fantastic sunset dining experience! The 9 course menu cost €140 per person. Food was incredible too! I love the shrimp roll and the dessert. Do remember to bring a jacket as it gets cooler when the sun goes down.

Let's start with the view. Amazing! We sat right on the ledge, with great view to Skaros rock and the sunset. The service was perfect. As for the food, we came with very high expectations, and the food was mostly well made and tasty, but somewhat lacking balance in the tastes. There was one dish with some sort of pasta, which was not cooked enough. We informed the staff and we hope it was a onetime glitch. Overall, very good experience.

Greeted by Panos and Nikos, who then took care of me for the remaining dinner experience. The views were stunning, including being able to see the sunset. Great service for any meals you have here. Great location and nice heat lamps/blankets after the sunset. We were here for a 9 course 140€ set dinner. Highlights include the grilled and smoked octopus, as well as the chocolate/mocha texture dessert. Missing from the pictures is the lobster ravioli we devoured before pictures were taken. Great location for a romantic getaway.

I made a reservation for my husband's birthday. The table was set up pretty simply, and only 4 tables in our area, just quiet, didn't feel the restaurant atmosphere. Pretty dark at night they have only 1 candle and 1 light. We chose 9 course menu because we want to have a front row for 140€/ person, and the drink is not included. The food was good. Steak was amazing. Cod fish was tasteless. I was hoping for dessert they might have some cake or candle for birthday, but it was regular dessert on the menu. Nothing special.! Staff were friendly. However, the service was super slow. We finished a first glass of wine they came and cleaned the glass, but they never asked if we wanted some more. Overall, it was ok, but it's not worth the money you paid for.

Nice little restaurant with a stunning view! Food quality is amazing, service is attentive, wine menu is good, food menu is creative but with a little room fore more creativity in this price range. Two negative points I have to mention which makes it a 4/5 in total: It is not easy to find this place as it is marked on a parking lot in maps and the soup we got as a starter was cold instead of warm, how it should be according to the waiter. Definitely an amazing dinner in a nice place but there are several ones with the same quality in Santorini for lower prices so in my opinion this restaurant has to improve some details.
