Museum
A very well thought through museum with information about all the wine regions in Galicia, the different types of soils, grapes, weather and best of all the history of the process of making exceptional wines. The museum is free of charge and a must visit for anyone, wine lover or not. The information they display is in various languages and at the end of the second visual display a guide takes you down to the cellars to tell and show you where the process of making the wine continued and finished. This is also where you finish the visit and leave from the dark cellars out into the sunshine. ☀️

Well worth the visit. Informative, interactive and thoroughly engaging. A great (free) museum that really does justice to the fantastic wines of Galicia.

Excellent museum. Not busy and free entrance. Would be even better if they had a shop / bar also to buy and/or try local wines.

Absolutely amazing experience, very interactive, with VR sets, projections and loads of information about the wines from Galicia and super friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Tiago Z — Google review
First class guided visit by Laura who speaks good English. Fantastic resource for Ribadavia that explains the wine making process well and it's historical importance. Some nice interactive exhibits including the grape essences. My favourite was the video about the wine press and the visit of the cave like cellars. The building oozes with history from 11th Century when monks started to produce wine for San Martiño de Pinario Monastery in Santiago de Compostela. Wine making in Ribeiro goes way back before to the Roman period. I strongly recommended a visit of this fascinating, historic Museum. One improvement for future is the informational boards should be in English, the video of the wine press is however in English. PS.There's a new exhibition about the relationship between wine and the Camíno de Santiago which again is fascinating but it needs to be in English. They also organise wine tastings, cultural events and concerts which take place outdoors in the terrace in front of the main entrance.

I really enjoyed my visit and tasting their wines. Geronimo, the owner, is an excellent host. They also own in front the Manor House, Pazo Carballo. Adjacent to it and towards the River Avia they have an impressive vineyard planted with treixadura which gives their signature wines their classical taste. The wines are well priced in relation to their quality.

If you find yourself in Galicia, make sure to experience the enchanting "Festa da Istoria" in Ribadavia. This captivating medieval festival takes place on the last Saturday of August, transforming the historic center into a vibrant stage that beautifully recreates the Jewish heritage of the city during medieval times. The old town's charm is magnified during this event, making it an unforgettable visit for anyone who appreciates history and culture. The atmosphere is simply magical!

(Translated by Google) After more than 20 years going to this party, this has been the worst by far, as a memory I take away very dirty streets, local bars and restaurants almost all closed, for dinner at night the only place we found open was answering the doors Outside, the only thing they had was pizza, we had to eat it sitting on some stairs. There was no way to have a single coffee all day, since nowhere did they serve it. The party was very dirty, all the trash cans were overflowing, since the morning parade, no one cleaned up the animal excrement.

(Translated by Google) Everything is very good in general. The enclave is extraordinary; It is encouraged to dress in period clothing, which is very commendable. The bad: there is an overflowing bottle that leaves parallel parties, with loud music, drunks, dirt and boys and girls urinating in full view of everyone in the castle grounds, including the surrounding areas of the auditorium. This leaves no desire to return. Very high prices, quadrupling the usual price, are common, although this is due, as is known, to the famous medieval inflation.

Nestled in the heart of Ribadavia, Ribeiro e Xamón is a delightful spot for those looking to indulge in some local flavors. This charming restaurant offers a select menu that focuses on quality over quantity, featuring standout dishes like tender pulpo and flavorful Rubia Galega beef. Guests rave about the beautifully presented meals and warm service that make every visit memorable.
Right on the main square of Ribadavia you will find this very authentic local family restaurant with great service and a lovely mixed cheese board. Not to mention all the other options of food and local wines you can enjoy there or buy to take with. A definite must visit after spending your morning discovering the castle and Jewish information centre.

We found this place after a quick google search of places to eat near the Termas de Prexigueiro (it’s only 8 minutes by car). We called beforehand to book a table however it was not crowded or overly busy when we got there. They only do a few things, the menu is not filled with different kind of starters, mains and desserts instead they offer a few select dishes and everything is of an incredible high standard! I was able to try Rubia Galega for the first time and it changed my life! Thank you so much for having us! We had a fantastic meal! The waiter was very knowledgable and happy to explain everything! Really 10/10

Beautiful little winery on the main plaza, with a decent range of tapas. But you really come here for the steak: served on a sizzling-hot ceramic plancha, with fried potatoes and mushrooms on the side. One of the best steaks in the area, and that's saying a lot.

Nestled in the heart of the plaza, Café Bar Restaurante Plaza is a delightful gem that showcases traditional Galician cuisine. (Translated by Google) We went second to this place because we came to the plaza to another tapas restaurant that only had high tables. But it was a great success to come to this restaurant, since there was either a la carte or a menu for €13 that included Ribeiro wine. We had a portion of octopus as a starter to share, and on the menu some croquettes for first and second beef fillet and pork chops. The quantities were very very generous. For dessert, although it was not homemade, we had a cheese tart and another from grandma's, which are industrial or pastry-made ones that are rectangular and flat, but they were good. Access is with one and a half steps. There are no bathrooms for disabled people, there are none and the normal bathrooms are on the top floor and the staircase is not very good if you have mobility problems. It is a room for about 30 people and there was only one girl in attendance but she did quite well even though she didn't stop. It has a large cafeteria area, but they didn't serve food there.

A Comanda, situated by the castle in Ribadavia, exemplifies the region's rich culinary heritage. This eatery is known for its delectable Galician fare served in a pleasant atmosphere. The establishment offers attentive service and although it may be pricier compared to neighboring establishments, it ensures an enjoyable dining experience. A must-try at A Comanda is their expertly prepared pulpo (octopus).
Best croquetas (Bolechas in the menu) we've ever tasted. Super unique! We've asked for the curry chicken and the beef and apple ones. The chipirones were also amazing and the same can be said for the batatas bravas!

My husband and I walked in and asked for a table. The waiter asked if we had a reservation, which we didn’t. Casal de Armán is a relaxed lodging situated in an 18th-century estate, featuring a dining establishment and a lush outdoor area. We attended a wedding celebration here and extended our stay for two nights. The location is remarkable, while the cuisine and beverages provided during the event were exceptional, with outstanding service. Although the rooms have some dated elements, they are comfortable.
We were here for a wedding celebration party and stayed 2 nights after that. The location is fabulous. The food and drink for the party was outstanding, and the service superb! The rooms are a bit dated, but comfortable. The only thing that we were disappointed with was the breakfast which was adequate but no more than that, and the one lady working had too much else to do. She certainly did her best though, and when we had to leave early on the second day she made sure that we had everything laid out for us to help ourselves.

We had a wonderful stay. Since it was Sunday, the hotel restaurant only served lunch, but after service ended, we had the entire building to ourselves, which felt really special. Our room and common areas were spotless with amazing views. It would have been perfect to stay when dinner service was available, but Saturday rooms were booked. I'll definitely plan better next time because we'll absolutely be back.

Great experience! Food was delicious, good presentation, decent portions. We shared everything and they brought it from the kitchen like that. Desserts were outstanding. 😉 Service was very good, even though we had to wait for the check quite some time. Well worth a second visit. Boa comida, con boas porcions e un servizo adecuado. A presentación dos pratos, a carne moi ben. Os postres son deliciosos. Ben vale unha segunda visita.

I enjoyed immensely our visit. Firstly strolling in the beautiful & tastefully decorated landscaped grounds. The views of the mountains against a backdrop of vineyards are special. Then there's the welcome from Jorge who explained the history of the beautifuly restored complex of buildings that comprise their hotel, restaurant & garden terrace bar. Sergio then looked after us well in the restaurant. I was struck by how good his wine list was with an excellent spread of Galician wines & other Spanish too. The Galician extra virgen olive oil from Quiroga was a great discovery too. The food was well elaborated, presented & tasty too. Marco's recommendation the tomatoes with tuna & tomate ice cream was delicious as was the rabbit salad. The mains the cod with cauliflower foam & roast chicken with potatoes & salad were good too. The fruit salad was also nice. I tried the only white & red wine by the glass,of course their own D.O.Ribiero wines which were delicious. Perhaps they should in the future look to offer more of a small variety of at least their own wines by the glass as their winery is on site? The decoration & atmosphere of the dinning room was perfect too with a nice selection of ambient music. A highly recommended experience which will not break the bank either !!
