Tanah Lot is a traditional Balinese temple situated on a small rocky island, offering stunning views of the water. It is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful location on the coast, surrounded by rocks and cliffs. The temple, which holds great significance for Hindu worshippers, provides breathtaking vistas of the sea. Tanah Lot is renowned as one of the best spots to witness mesmerizing sunsets in Bali.
It's a beautiful place. The atmosphere here is truly captivating. The grounds are large and well-maintained, with many interesting spots where you can capture a moment for a beautiful souvenir. If the weather is nice and there aren't many tourists, you can relax and soak up the atmosphere. The ticket price is undoubtedly good for this place. The best way to get here is by scooter. I also met guides who shared stories and guided tourists around.

Actually It’s a park which is a must place to visit and picnic while in Bali. Watch the high tides striking the cliffs and a beautiful sunset. An exquisite park to roam around and relax with some fine dining options. The temple is at some distance with no direct access and you don’t need to visit it

Tanah Lot Temple, Bali – A Majestic Sea Temple on the Rocks Tanah Lot Temple is one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks, renowned for its stunning offshore setting and mesmerizing sunset views. Perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the sea, the temple appears to float during high tide, creating a truly magical sight. Located in Tabanan Regency, around 20 km from Denpasar, Tanah Lot is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a mix of spirituality, culture, and natural beauty. The name Tanah Lot means “Land in the Sea” in Balinese, perfectly describing its dramatic position. The temple is dedicated to the sea gods and plays an important role in Balinese mythology. Legend says that it was established by the 16th-century priest Dang Hyang Nirartha, who built it after being inspired by the beauty of the coastline. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking ocean views, especially during sunset when the sky glows in shades of orange and gold, creating one of Bali’s most photographed moments. During low tide, tourists can walk across to the base of the temple, explore small caves with sea snakes believed to be sacred protectors, and witness local rituals performed by Balinese priests. The area around Tanah Lot features beautifully landscaped gardens, souvenir markets, and several cliffside restaurants offering panoramic views. It is also a popular spot for cultural performances and traditional dance shows held in the evenings. Tanah Lot is open daily, with the best time to visit being late afternoon to witness the sunset spectacle. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly as it remains an active place of worship. In short: Tanah Lot Temple is not just a tourist attraction — it’s a symbol of Bali’s spiritual harmony, where nature and faith blend into an unforgettable experience.

Tanah lot temple is located in the sea side, one of the famous sea temples in Bali. Tanah Lot translates to "Land in the sea". The temple is built on a rock formation off the cost making it appear to float on the sea during high tide. It is famous for the stunning sunset views. Plan your trip to make sure that you will be able to witness the sunset from there. At the base of the temple, there is holy water which is guarded by snakes. We can enter here and seek blessings as well. There is lot of shops available for shopping near the entry and exit gates. Also, the famous traditional Balinese gate is there for photo shoots. Worth visiting 👍
Sreejith S — Google review
Must-visit when you’re in Bali! I went here around sunset, and it was absolutely breathtaking. What I really love about this place is that it’s not just about the view. It’s a complete experience. There are plenty of little shops selling local souvenirs and crafts, a variety of restaurants and cafés where you can grab a meal or a fresh coconut while enjoying the ocean breeze, and sometimes you can even catch traditional Balinese dance performances near the temple area. The energy and atmosphere here feel both peaceful and lively at the same time. It can get a bit crowded during sunset, but it’s worth it. Just take your time, find a good spot, and enjoy the moment. If you’re planning a trip to Bali, don’t skip Tanah Lot. You’ll leave with amazing photos and even better memories.
Just F — Google review
The church itself is beautiful. It's worth a visit. We were there during low tide, so we could get quite close to the church and even went to a part of it. To go up, the local priests must first bless you, and then they'll let you onto the stairs. I don't think the church itself is open to tourists. It wasn't crowded, which was also a plus.
Csilla S — Google review
Absolutely stunning place. The temple on the sea is beautiful. The waves crashing around the temple is fabulous. Has cafes and food also people selling there wares. Plenty of parking Sea views . Well worth a visit
Karin P — Google review
A must-visit cultural and scenic landmark in Bali! Tanah Lot is absolutely breathtaking, with the ocean. The coastal views are stunning, and the spiritual atmosphere adds a unique charm. One of Bali’s most iconic spots, this temple is stunning on clear days and at sunset. Expect strong winds and waves that add to its dramatic charm. Explore both sides of the temple for unique views. Nearby, a lively market offers reasonably priced souvenirs from local vendors There are a couple of special experiences here — you can view the holy snake (for a fee) and receive spring water near the entrance in the ocean. The area is popular with tourists, so expect crowds, but it’s well-managed with lots of local shops and stalls along the way. A beautiful blend of nature, culture, and tradition — highly recommended!

Batu Bolong Temple is a Hindu landmark situated on a rock overlooking the ocean. It is known for its unique features, including a hole under the cliff and a sacred stone that emits fresh water used in religious ceremonies. The temple can only be entered by those who want to pray and its administrators. Nearby, there's another site of spiritual significance and beauty with a natural archway. The journey to Tanah Lot offers a lively market with local crafts and traditional refreshments.
Very hot day at Batu Bolong Temple. We didn't stay long as the tide was high and we were not able to cross to go over to the temple. Beautiful area. There are stalls there to buy drinks or souvenirs.

Visited on 6 May 2025 alongwith family. Nice place . Everywhere the " door to heaven". Must see while in Bali.
Augustin G — Google review
The entrance is a little pricey for the country but there's a nice market, shops, restaurants and coffee around that are cheaper than most of big cities around. Good walk and good view.
Michael D — Google review
Good place to visit if you'd like to feel the Bali culture. We visited on a Saturday and got to see a few parades of worship took place. It can get pretty crowded. A good place to see the sunset.
Samitha B — Google review
Just a short 5-minute walk from Tanah Lot is Pura Batu Bolong, a much smaller temple perched on a rock arch over the sea. It’s often less crowded, very picturesque, and well worth the short walk for a quieter, equally charming experience.
Macarena S — Google review
Interesting place to visit. If you want to walk across to the island you need to be aware of the tides.

Beach
Pantai Nyanyi is a secluded black sand beach located on the southern end of Nusa Penida, adjacent to Pantai Tanah Lot. It features a small temple and towering hills on either side. The beach offers a serene atmosphere for relaxation and reflection, with the striking contrast of its ebony sand against the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. While swimming is possible, caution is advised due to strong currents.
No fee for entry only need to pay parking Rp.2000!! Beautiful beach with glamour black sand, and green savana on the hill ( only need to climb up and u can enjoy from sitting on empty rock chair ) ucan bring ur food here but please always to keep the cleanliness👍

Pantai Nyanyi is a serene black sand beach located in the Tabanan Regency of Bali, near the renowned Tanah Lot Temple. This hidden gem offers a peaceful retreat away from the bustling tourist spots, making it an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Amazing beach 🥰 as a person who likes to be alone, this beach are heaven! not so crowded , many space to sit alone, i can tell it's clean, and also beautiful sunsets 🌄🌅
Wandering A — Google review
Don’t come to this beach! It’s the worst I’ve seen. The sand was dirty, the water was murky, and there was absolutely no one else around—probably for a reason. There are zero services available, not even basic amenities. I couldn’t believe this was supposed to be Bali! It felt completely neglected and far from the paradise you’d expect. Avoid it at all costs.
Enrique U — Google review
Black sands beach, big rocks, serene and nice. Recommended to run away from busy beach.
Yohanes K — Google review
The beach is much quieter than other popular ones. The black sand is so beautiful and soft and it’s a very pretty location to watch the sunrise or sunset. When I was there the waves weren’t too strong and it was nice to swim in. I will comment though that there was a lot of rubbish on parts of the beach but not all of the beach.
Ing R — Google review
With the scooter the way is very easy. Parking possible for 2000. It is a nice beach with few tourists and more local people. It is a beautiful quiet place. I just went to the beach for the sunset. The sunset is incredible and the view is just amazing. It is worth it!
Metin — Google review
Its located near tanah lot temple. The black beach sand and the water was rather warm. If you want avoid the crowded this beach is a good place to see sunset. Some people come to this place for take a photograph, because have stunning background of cliffs. But unfortunately this beach have many trash from near rivers.

Canggu Beach is a popular black-sand destination known for its surfing and sunbathing opportunities. The area is filled with waterfront restaurants offering stunning sunset views. It's a hip hotspot featuring quirky cafes, boutiques, and delis serving trendy food like avocado toast and Kombucha. Canggu also boasts superb coffee, artsy vibes, and a vibrant food scene.
Great beach and so much to do. The waves are great for surfing and really nice for relaxing . The sunset here are fantastic. Highly recommend coming here as you can spend an entire day there even if you’re not surfing. Plenty of food spots around and at night, there are nightclubs if you’re into that. Very accessible and most people either come here by grab or simply get here with their scooters.
Amr S — Google review
The beach is really nice, fine sand, good waves and cool gentle breeze. Sunset was breathtaking. BUT there were alot of dogs roaming on the beach and they just pee and poo on it at will. The owners did not bother picking up the poo as well. That ruined the experience for me.
JH — Google review
Canggu Beach is a nice beach, but not a dreamy paradise beach like in Thailand for example. The sand is dark, the water is rough with big waves. It is good for surfing and watching sunset with a drink, but definitely not a good beach to go have a swim and have a feeling of paradise.
Fan — Google review
It was a nice beach, but nothing particularly special. There are lots of restaurants around, and we did enjoy watching the dogs play, but overall, it was just an average experience.
Justine M — Google review
Sorry, this beach is nothing beautiful but filthy looking sand. We were lucky to catch some sunset despite the cloudy day. The vibe is so so to me despite the loud partying music playing in the background. I think the strong waves would appeal to the surfers out there. I’m sure they would appreciate the beach more than this sis, for sure. 😅😅😅

Great experience at Canggu Beach 🌊! I took a surfing lesson for 250,000 IDR for 2 hours 🏄‍♂️ – great instructor, very good teacher! It is also possible to rent a board alone for only 50,000 IDR. And the sunset here is simply magical 🌅… A must-do in Bali ✨

“Loved my evening at canggy. The atmosphere is dreamy, with fairy lights, ocean waves, and great tunes. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Bali’s coastal beauty. The seafood platter was top-notch!
Anisha — Google review
Winding down at Canggu Beach during sunset was everything I didn’t know I needed. The breeze, the sound of waves, the sky slowly turning gold, it all made me feel calm and present. Love itt!! Even more heartwarming? Seeing volunteers quietly cleaning the beach before sunset. Their care made the moment feel even more meaningful. Grateful for people who protect the beauty we all get to enjoy.

Amazing experience from start to finish! Our waiter Aldi took great care of us, and every member of staff we encountered was friendly and warm. We ordered a bunch of things to try as much as possible and every dish was absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chefs and the whole crew at Ji!

Absolutely loved this Japanese rooftop restaurant I visited yesterday! The prices were very reasonable, and the view overlooking the ocean was perfect for watching the surfers ride the waves. My cocktail arrived with a dramatic dry ice effect, such a cool touch! The waiter was so lovely and attentive, even brought me extra wasabi without hesitation. Great vibes, great service, and a stunning setting. Highly recommend if you're in the area! 🌊🍣🍸

The whole experience was one of the best we had in Bali. The view is on the sea. Also the staff was so friendly. Special thanks to Sapna for being so lovely with us.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – A masterpiece of Japanese fusion with ocean vibes While staying at the enchanting Hotel Tugu next door, I discovered ji Restaurant – and it quickly became my favorite spot for dinner in Canggu. Set in a breathtaking 1930s Javanese teakwood villa, originally part of a 1706 Chinese temple, the space is filled with Asian antiques, art, and soul. It’s elegant, unique, and full of history – one of the most atmospheric places in Bali. The rooftop terrace offers stunning views over the Indian Ocean – perfect for sunset or watching the surf lineup during the day. The food is Japanese fusion at its finest – fresh sushi, creative small plates, and bold, balanced flavors. Every dish is beautifully presented and deeply satisfying. And the cocktails are outstanding – especially the Kublai, a bold and earthy mix of tequila, whiskey, tamarind, turmeric, and ginger honey. It’s a sophisticated tropical drink with a clear nod to Jamu, Bali’s traditional herbal elixir – rich, vibrant, and unforgettable. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. You feel looked after without ever being rushed. A must-visit in Canggu for anyone who appreciates great food, artistic ambiance, and a bit of Bali magic.

The bar features colorful daybeds for alfresco relaxation, world-class food, and an extensive menu of fresh drinks. With its mix of beach casual decor and retro sofa stylings, WooBar provides the perfect setting for a sunset session with good company and smooth tunes.
I visited Woo Bar alone at the end of March. The water was crystal clear, and the pizza was absolutely delicious. The staff welcomed me with warm smiles and genuinely friendly service. The view and hotel facilities were incredibly clean and beautiful. I actually slipped at the pool entrance—it was embarrassing and really painful—but the staff kindly brought me ice packs and took care of me so sincerely that I was truly touched. It felt like they cared for me as if it were their own concern. On the last day of my trip, I spent the entire day relaxing by the pool. It was so comfortable and enjoyable that I’d definitely want to visit again if I return to Bali. Huge thanks to the Woo Bar staff for providing such a great experience!
