Pragser Wildsee, also known as Lake Braies, is a stunning alpine lake nestled in the South Tyrol region of Italy. Surrounded by majestic mountains, its turquoise-green waters create a picturesque reflection. The area offers climbing opportunities and is famous for its appearance in the Italian TV series 'Un passo dal Cielo.' Visitors can enjoy the historic hotel nearby and indulge in dining experiences while taking in the breathtaking views.
Lovely place to visit, beautiful water. Winter time is great to go to avoid large crowds, summer the lake is packed, you can best most of the crowd in the spring/summer months by going very early but shops will not be open.

In my opinion, this is one of the top 3 landscapes to see in Italy. My partner and I walked around the lake, which is 3.8 km long. At times there were quite a lot of people, even forming small queues, but for most of the route we could walk at our own pace. Tip: if the mountain views at the starting point don’t seem that impressive, it’s better to walk around the lake clockwise rather than counterclockwise. This way, the most beautiful part of the scenery will be towards the end of the walk, and your photos will turn out better.
KOTKALLE O — Google review
Nice small lake and good views of the surrounding moutains. But in my opinion nothing out of the ordinary - its just a mountain lake and a very commercialised one. You can rent boats for 45min which will cost 55€ and parking is also 15€. The path around the lake is very crowded as well. I think there are more beautiful and especially more calm lakes in the dolomites that would be worth your time and money.
Joran B — Google review
Best lake in the Dolomites in Italy and a MUST visit. It is also referred to as 'The pearl of the Dolomites'. Circular route around this magical mountain lake is a great experience for young and old because the entire hiking trail is safe and well marked. Walking distance from bus stop and car parking.
NATURE'S D — Google review
Beautiful lake but insanely crowded in mid June. I dread to think of how much worse it will be at the height of summer. The trail is easy, though with some steep sections. Many photogenic spots if you look around and are creative. Expect to see many influencer types. We parked at P4 parking because the parking farther away (and cheaper) was full. I think there’s some strict parking restriction from mid July so do your research before coming.
Jane N — Google review
Gloomy day for us but still breathtaking views. Rented a row boat and bopped around the lake for a bit before grabbing a bite and heading out. Plan your trip accordingly, it can be crazy during the busy months. Do your research!
Brian F — Google review
Gorgeous turquoise lake that reminds me of lake Louise in banff Canada. Rented a row boat for 55€ that includes 2 magnets and 45 minutes of row time. It was pretty windy with a slight drizzle when we arrived at 5:30pm. Last boat is at 7pm. There was a slight wait but we didn’t wait too long to get on the lake
Vu N — Google review
Dont dare to come on the weekend or public holiday. Cause it was such a catastrophe. The parking place was full and you need to parking for the hotel and it cost you around 15€/ hour. You can barely walking cause it was full of people. The charm from this Lake was gone cause this mass tourism. I hope the government take this case seriously

Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a set of three renowned peaks in the Sexten Dolomites, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its hiking routes and World War I fortifications. The area offers stunning natural beauty and tranquility, making it an ideal destination for a peaceful holiday immersed in nature.
Amazing experience. Recommended to those who want to make the hike to arrive early in the morning (summer days) to avoid the heat... Great views... The level of difficulty depends on your goal... I've reached the cave, and for sure, it's *not* a family hike...
David N — Google review
Amazing place truly. Unbelievable mountain views. One of the best hikes. I wanted to do the cave view, but storms were rolling in so returned, but I've heard that the cave view is also amazing although a steep hike to reach the caves.
Imran S — Google review
Beautiful scenery and insane views! One of the greatest hikes in the Dolomites. Some tips; book a parking slot the day before! We took the bus from the main parking (10 euro pr person both ways) and parking for a van was additional 20 euro for the full day. Parking for a van from the starting point is 60 euro, but needs to be booked in advance. The trails are easy and durable for most people, kids and olders. Depending on the route it’s very accessible. We took a round trip wich was around 4 hours but spent the full day there in the sun ☀️
Miriam K — Google review
I finally made it! Hiking here was absolutely incredible. I came in early October 2025, and the snow had already started, which made the trek quite challenging in some spots. But the view I saw was truly superb and stunningly beautiful.
Tongz N — Google review
My experience was good. The views were incredible — the road going up was steep, tricky for a Fiat hybrid. The top of the mountain looked at like the end of a stage of the Tour de France.
Matt W — Google review
I’ve heard that the hike is incredible if you have the stamina to go all the way to the end. However, if you only plan to walk a kilometer or two and then turn back, it’s not worth it. Instead, I recommend taking the hike from the restaurant’s lower yard to trail 117. It’s stunning and only about a 30-minute walk to the destination, where you can take photos, and about 25 minutes back.
KOTKALLE O — Google review
A great walk that is so easy you can enjoy it even with smaller children. There are huts with refreshments along the way, so you don't have to carry so much in your backpack 💪 The views are spectacular and the great thing is that the trek is a circuit around Tre Cime, so you don't go the same way 😉 I recommend booking parking in advance. This way you can take your car to the start of the hiking trail 🤞
Michal V — Google review
You absolutely have to do this – it was incredible! It had been on our bucket list for ages after seeing so much about it on TikTok and YouTube, and it did not disappoint. Just a heads-up – the system has changed a bit since some of the older videos were posted, especially regarding parking and camping. It’s now booked in 12-hour slots and it’s very popular, so you’ll need to pre-book through the official website. I believe you can book multiple 12-hour slots depending on availability, but it’s best to check what’s free when you’re planning. We booked the 9pm–9am slot and it worked perfectly. We got up super early at 4am and were out walking by 4:30am to catch the sunrise and enjoy a peaceful walk through the mountains. By the time we got back at 8:30am, it was already getting really busy – coach loads of people were arriving! Doing it this way meant we had the trails pretty much to ourselves, the temperature was lovely and cool, and we even saw (and heard) marmots! If you don’t go early, be prepared for crowds – it gets very busy. We absolutely loved it – worth every penny. We’ll definitely be going back… maybe even again during this trip!

Beautiful park! Lots of well maintained trails, incredible views. Late May, beautiful day was not crowded.

The "Parco Naturale Puez Odle" is an UNESCO world heritage site. Wonderful mountains and nature, fauna and flora. Just scroll through the pictures to see what expects you. I would visit the different locations in the summer, but even in winter it is enjoyable, though less accessible. A minus is the increasing traffic on the roads leading to the nature park.

Nice trip uphill, not so difficult, but a bit strenght needed. We didint climb to the self mountain, but areas around were also beautiful. You can see the view from both sides. As noticed, not so many tourists around. Several directions to reach the tops with a view.

The Dolomites in Italy are simply breathtaking! The majestic mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and charming alpine villages make it one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. The air is fresh, the views are unforgettable, and every season offers something unique — from skiing in the winter to hiking and flower-filled meadows in the summer. The local food is delicious, and the hospitality of the people makes the experience even more special. Truly a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers!

Karersee, also known as Lake Carezza, is a stunning emerald-green lake located in the southwestern part of the Dolomites. The lake offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and fir trees that are reflected in its shimmering rainbow waters. Its size varies throughout the year due to being glacier-fed, adding to its allure. The area around Karersee is a popular destination for visitors seeking beautiful natural surroundings and iconic mountain reflections on the water's surface.
Absolutely gorgeous lake and peaceful forest walk. The colours of the lake are a feast for the eyes with the picturesque mountains as a backdrop. The rainbow lake is definitely worth a visit!

Amazing place to see especially on a sunny day. We were there with our 7m campervan on a Sunday morning around 9am and there were plenty of parking spaces but got busy rather quickly. You need to pay in the ticket machine before passing through the exit gate. Campers pay 9 eur for 3 hrs which is plenty time to see the sights, get some footage and have a meal as well.
Avinash M — Google review
It is a small lake surrounded by pine forests and the Dolomites mountains, offering breathtaking scenery. The water is crystal clear with an emerald-green color, reflecting the mountains and the sky. Easy to reach with no difficult roads. Parking is available at €3 per hour (Oct 2025), and payment must be made in advance at the ticket machine. The area also has convenient facilities such as shops and restaurants, though not very large. Perfect for a short stop to take photos and enjoy a peaceful walk. The atmosphere is calm, cool, and truly romantic.

We visited Lago di Carezza, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. The water shines in shades of green and reflects the forest and mountains around it, giving the place a magical feel. Parking is easy and costs €6 for 1-2 hours, which is fair for such a stunning spot. A calm and lovely stop, well worth visiting if you’re in the area.

Awesome lake . Very nice color and nice reflections. There is a parking where you pay by hour. We managed to walk around the lake and managed under 1 hour with a small child. It was in our way, but it worth the stop

A beautiful little alpine lake with stunning turquoise water and breathtaking mountain views in the background. It’s an easy hike, you can walk around it in about 1 hour. Unfortunately, it’s quite a popular tourist spot, so unless you arrive early in the morning, it can get very crowded. Luckily, most visitors tend to stay near the starting point to take photos, so the rest of the trail around the lake is much quieter and more peaceful.

We were given tickets as part of the public transport system. I'm glad we had time to use the tickets. The cable car was an amazing experience to explore the upper region. At the top there is a short train ride, which showed us an excellent view and experience from a living in the mountains point of view.
Monique R — Google review
Located just 10 min walk from the city center the cable car is one way of reaching Soprabolzano. The views from the ride are spectacular amd it takes roughly 12 min one way. One way ticket is 8 euros and if you buy the return you need to use it the same day, it cannot be used another day. If you are planning to get the scenic small train from Soprabolzano , make sure to mention this when buying the ticket so they will give you a combined o ne. You can either take the stairs to the 2nd level or the elevator. There is a coffee shop right next to it and a supermarket as well. Once you get on top you will find a bar / icecream shop in the area and a Despar amd Mpreis supermarkets. Very busy usually in the weekends
Andreea C — Google review
I have mixed feelings about this cable car. The first part of the experience was bad. There is a pretty long line and the stuffed too many people into one cart. However the view from this cable car is absolutely amazing. It first goes up and the has a long horizontal ride that seems like it was designed just so you can enjoy the view longer. Too bad we had such little personal space to enjoy the view.
Shani B — Google review
The queue for the ride can be really long on a weekend, especially at 12pm. Be patient and dont join the queue. Just go for a lunch first till 1pm and the will be no wait needed to get a ride up. The long and smooth ride offers a great view between bolzano and suprabolzano.
Fazli K — Google review
The cable car (Funivia) takes you from Bolzano to Oberbozen (Sopra Bolzano). It's a 25 minute smooth ride with incredible and breathtaking views. The capacity is around 20 people at a time. Very recommended if in Bolzano.

Awesome way to go waaay up while using the same Mobil Card that we use for trains/buses in the region. No waiting time, smooth trip up and down and spectacular views all around!

Beautiful views! Nice restaurant and bar and a playground for kids. There are several hikes available as well.
Noam K — Google review
Worth a visit. The cable car takes you to the top. There is a small village with restaurants, cafes, and hotels. You take a train until you reach the last station. There are cafes. I recommend tasting the ice cream. There is a viewpoint of the mountain peaks. It is a 40-minute walk from the last train station.

Hotel
Hotel Ristorante Magdalener Hof is a charming accommodation located in Bolzano, offering a range of amenities such as a lounge/bar, gym, and an inviting outdoor pool. Situated conveniently close to attractions like Dolomites and Bolzano Christmas Market, this hotel provides easy access to the area's highlights. Guests can enjoy various leisure activities including swimming in the outdoor pool, working out at the fitness center, or exploring the surroundings with available bicycles for rent.
One of my best hotel stays of all time (and I’ve stayed at many)! Our first stop in the Dolomites was Bolzano. We stayed for one night at Hotel Magdalener Hof and we were blown away. After parking on the side of the hotel, we walked into the charming lobby where you’ll see a painting of Magdalener. The check-in process was easy and the lady working took us to our room. We passed by the elegant restaurant and the bar. All of it was great and the rooms are even better. It’s luxury at its finest. A beautiful bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. All of the toiletries you need (which isn’t a given in Europe). The bedroom is just as nice with a comfortable bed and a nice patio where you can see a breathtaking view of the mountains and relax when the weather cooperates. The complimentary bottle of water was a nice touch too. The breakfast (which is included) is more than a typical Italian breakfast. Thank you for the German influence here. Various deli meats, scrambled eggs, bread, desserts, fruits, cereal, and more are available at the buffet along with coffee and fresh juice. My biggest complaint is that we only stayed one night. And since we arrived late, we didn’t get to enjoy the hotel as long as we would have liked. This is the type of hotel where I would gladly stay for a week or longer. I’ve been to many hotels in my day and Hotel Magdalener Hof is one of the best. While it’s not in the center of Bolzano, we walked to downtown Bolzano at night (which took about 20-25 minutes). If you don’t like to walk like us, you’re looking at a short drive (five minutes or so). While being in the center of the action would have been nice, being away from it made for a quieter and homier experience.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Everything was very well organized, the staff was friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade, which made our experience even better the room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a great view. The entire stay was smooth and relaxing. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and the quality of the service. Highly recommended, and we’d love to come back!
Viorela A — Google review
The hotel is beautiful and clean, and the receptionist was very kind and professional. The room was also nice and clean; however, it was prepared for one person instead of two. There was only one pillow and a single small blanket, which was not enough for two guests. When I tried to contact room service around 6:00 PM, no one answered, and unfortunately, the reception did not respond either. The other disappointing point was the location of my room (No. 302), which was right next to the elevator. The sound of the elevator motor was very noisy and continued until almost midnight.

Wow.... So friendly and helpful people. We were feeling so welcome already in the phone booking the rooms. Rooms are not.lage, but have it all and are well made. We will be back. And once again, so friendly staff!

A refined blend of Italian elegance and Tyrolean soul Löwengrube in Bolzano delivers a modern twist on regional cuisine, blending classy Italian finesse with hearty South Tyrolean roots. From Schweinskopf to seafood, every dish is carefully crafted and beautifully presented. The tartare was outstanding, and the tagliatelle with duck ragout brought surprising depth and creativity. Service was flawless, and the wine lounge setting adds just the right touch of sophistication without feeling stiff. A must for anyone who appreciates elevated local flavors done right.
Pascal M — Google review
Within minutes of stepping into one of the oldest restaurants in Bolzano you feel at home. The host/owner Michael Meister is excellent at guest relationship and took the time to explain a bit of history of this old Douane/tax collection house (the origins go back to 1200. The walls are full of amazing wine bottles, the Löwengrube has a great selection and the owner and staff are keen to help you choose the right one for your meal. But the highlight is the food. We both took the degustation menu and apart from the Gazpacho (which stems more from my dislike for cold food), every single dish was amazing. The highlight of the evening was the Tartar of Black Angus Beef, closely followed by the Veal fillet Rossini style with Foie-Gras and the scallops. To our surprise there was pre-desert before the actual desert, we almost left too early. In between the courses the staff is giving you plenty of time to digest and enjoy the fine wine, which is really extraordinary in today’s world where many restaurants try to rush through the meals to turn tables again. Even at 9 o’clock in the evening there were still guests coming in, with several being regular guests it seemed. The degustation menu was a steal in terms of price for value and the excellent team at the Löwengrube might it a wonderful evening for us, thank you!
Andreas W — Google review
We had a great evening in this charming historic restaurant. The interior is very well designed, the wine list long but well focused on local wines but the food was surely our highlight. We enjoyed three great courses and all were of highest quality, both visually but especially taste wise. Thank you for a great evening!

We had here the New Year’s dinner. Booked in advance, payed a deposit as well. As soon as we arrived, we were a bit lost - nobody welcomed us, so we had to find somebody who could help us and lead to our table. Apart from that, everything else was great. We liked all the food served (apart from a couple of things, but it was just according our personal tastes). We also took a bottle of wine to share. Our waitress was very nice, explained us all the dishes, proposed to have some breaks between the servings. We left a bit before 12am, so don’t know if they made a countdown or something else.

History Museums
Nestled in the heart of Bolzano, the South Tyrol Archeological Museum, often referred to as the Otzi Museum, is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts. This three-story museum showcases the remarkable mummified remains of Ötzi, a Neolithic man who lived over 5,300 years ago and was discovered in 1991 due to melting glaciers. Visitors can explore not only Ötzi himself but also an array of artifacts that provide insight into his life and times.
South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology – Meeting Ötzi in Bolzano Bolzano is one of those places that gets under your skin—a strange and beautiful collision of Italy and the Alps. German precision meets Italian charm, all wrapped in cobblestone streets, Gothic arcades, and the smell of good coffee drifting out of corner cafés. It’s a city where you can order a perfect espresso in the morning, a plate of speck and mountain cheese by noon, and a bottle of local Gewürztraminer by dinner. We grabbed a quick bite at a café across the street before heading in—sitting outside while small birds darted between tables, bold enough to hope for crumbs. Then we crossed over to see why most people come here: Ötzi. The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology sits in a stately old building at the edge of the pedestrian zone, and inside is one of the most haunting encounters you can have without boarding a plane to somewhere far more dangerous. Three floors take you from prehistoric tools to Roman relics, winding you closer to the reason everyone’s here: a 5,300-year-old man pulled from the ice, along with the tools, clothes, and gear he carried when death found him in the high mountains. The displays are sharp and modern, with just the right balance of science and story. There’s his copper axe, his grass cape, his last meal still in his stomach. The lifelike reconstruction of Ötzi by the Kennis brothers is unsettling in the best possible way—suddenly this isn’t just a skeleton in a glass case, it’s a person who woke up one morning not knowing it would be his last. What makes the place work is its restraint. No gimmicks, no cheap drama—just good storytelling and the quiet, unnerving truth of seeing someone who lived and died in the same mountains you can see out the window. Bolzano does that—it folds the past and present together until you can’t quite tell where one ends and the other begins.
D S — Google review
The floor with the mummy is awesome. The other floors are okay. As a physiotherapist, I feel it’s important to highlight that some of the information presented about Ötzi’s ailments and pain is factually incorrect—not just technically inaccurate but clearly and potentially harmfully wrong. Specifically, the exhibit makes claims about osteoarthritis and other health conditions that go beyond what the evidence supports. It is not scientifically valid to infer pain based solely on imaging findings of “degenerative” changes or age-related adaptations. These types of findings are extremely common in healthy people—many of whom experience no pain at all. Presenting such changes as definitive sources of pain reinforces outdated and misleading beliefs about the human body. This can contribute to fear, over-medicalization, and unnecessary treatments in the general public, especially among people who already live with chronic pain or worry about their health. Aside from the clearly documented issues—such as the arrow wound in his shoulder, the broken arm, and dental problems—any additional claims about Ötzi’s experience of pain are speculative at best and should be labeled as such. Personally, I think those parts of the exhibit should be changed. I included some photos of the problematic texts.

Great museum, mainly dedicated to the story (and viewing) of Ötzi, the iceman. Recommendation when you are in the area. Also some interesting items on living situations in that time and how to craft for example. We didn’t have a ticket in advance and so had to wait outside. It was annoying that the lady at the front couldn’t tell us how long the queue would be, luckily it was only a bit more than 20 minutes. We visited on a tuesday afternoon mid September. Recommended to buy beforehand! Inside there are also many school groups next to the general visitors so it is not calm or quiet.
Stanly — Google review
An interesting museum dedicated to literally just one mummy. After viewing the exhibit, you realize how much information can be gleaned from such a find. My seven-year-old daughter was a bit scared; perhaps it's too early to see such exhibits. Tickets are inexpensive, but there's no parking. The restrooms are clean and comfortable. A significant amount of money has been invested in the museum; I recommend visiting.

Awesome museum! I have been interested in Otzi since he was pulled out of the ice, so when I was nearby I made sure to make a detour to Bolzano and the museum. You’re not allowed to take photos of Otzi himself as he is being preserved for research purposes. The images below show what they think Otzi would have looked like. One thing I found most interesting, (other than his acupuncture tattoos of course!) was his height - only 5 feet 3 inches. I had expected him to be taller, possibly because of my own biases, but possibly also owing to the nature of his life - mountain climbing and hunting while alone. Regardless, he was obviously a seriously brave guy. The museum dedicated to him is definitely worth a visit.

So cool ! The museum is located in the middle of town. Parking was a challenge , we used the parkhouse , while it’s 4.50€ per hour, it worked out well. The museum is set up in 3 floors , easy to follow as everything is numbered. What an amazing valuable find, so interesting . This exhibit really helps you understand the life of this man .

Restaurant
Wirtshaus Vögele is a historic venue located near the beautiful Piazza della Frutta, with a traditional menu featuring local classics such as veal head with eggs and onions, carne salada, and speck. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere in the heart of Bolzano and prides itself on using seasonal ingredients from local producers. Diners can enjoy dishes like ricotta dumplings in broth, potato fritters with sauerkraut, and lamb cutlets.
Super friendly staff who helped us with our stroller, both with the stairs and finding a quiet spot. The food was excellent across the board, from the cold cuts (the best I’ve had in Bolzano) to the main dish, everything was spot on. The atmosphere is also very pleasant, making you feel fully immersed in Tyrolean culture.

Charming spot near the center of Bolzano, just a short walk from the cathedral. The restaurant is located on a picturesque, cobbled street with lovely outdoor seating under the arcades — perfect for people-watching and enjoying the local atmosphere. Service was quick and efficient. I tried a regional specialty: a selection of Hirschknödel (venison dumplings) with different flavors, served with a warm bacon salad — a typical South Tyrolean dish that was both tasty and interesting. I also had the tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, another local classic. The sauce was flavorful and well prepared, though the pasta itself was slightly overcooked and oddly short, as if it had been cut — a bit of a shame. Still, considering the central location and overall good quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable. A solid and honest place I’d recommend for a casual meal while strolling through Bolzano.
Eric D — Google review
This restaurant is steeped in history. The staff is professional and friendly. The menu is more Südtirol-style than typical Italian. The Wienerschnitzel, made authentically with veal, was tender and fried to perfection. The Knödel also had a unique flavor I haven't tasted in Germany. I would highly recommend this place.
Chien-Chih P — Google review
Quaint restaurant featuring local tyrolian cuisine. It’s a vibrant spot and institution in town amongst locals and tourists. I found the dishes good especially the octopus and grilled steak with mushrooms. However, I did find the service a bit lacking, not very detail oriented and one may have to repeat their request. Other than that a must try in Bolzano.
Jean D — Google review
Authentic place with South Tyrolean cuisine. When booking, ask for a table either outside on the street or on the first floor - the second and third floors don’t really have the same atmosphere. The food is excellent, exactly what you need in this region: the must-try canederli (traditional bread dumplings made with speck or cheese and best enjoyed in broth), amazing chanterelle mushrooms (now in season), and veal head. The goulash is wonderful, and even the kids’ schnitzel is absolutely delicious.
Natasha K — Google review
The meals we had - ravioli and Schnitzel - were both delicious, portions were nice too, but the inside dining area is uncomfortably hot, however if you opt to eat outside, you need to share the airspace with smokers.
György A — Google review
This was a super tasty wiener schnitzel. We actually came without looking at reviews because this place was always packed when passing by, so one day we dropped in earlier for lunch and even then there was no more seating in the outside or first floor, but luckily still plenty of seating upstairs, which also completely filled up rather quickly. Food was very tasty and I regret not ordering more that day as this was one of the best restaurants I dined at while in Bolzano. It was only later while searching for best wiener schnitzl in Bolzano that this place consistently showed up. Also, the environment is quite cozy, and you can imagine the long history of this restaurant. Only downside is service is quite slooooow, which is pretty much standard in this area.

*Friendly and helpful staff. Special and engaging exhibitions. I took a guided tour with the class and I must say that I really liked the activity proposed by the guide, which consisted of making an "album" representative of who we are and how we describe ourselves in the eyes of others..

Great exhibition about black futurism. The other exhibits lack critical reflection which might not bother those who like to delve in Techno escapism and the umptieth revival of esoteric rave culture.

Beautiful art exhibition (collection of Erling Kagge in September 2020). Thanks to the corona regulations you had plenty of space to walk around, it was very quiet and empty, we had an amazing time. The architecture is amazing as well. Just the overall organization of the exhibition was from time to time a bit confusing.

Bolzano Cathedral, a restored late-Gothic church, is a jewel of Romanesque and Gothic art located in the main square of Bolzano. The cathedral features a patterned, multicolor marble roof and an elaborate steeple, making it a majestic sight from the outside. Visitors can explore the rich historical and artistic heritage of the region while enjoying Italian dolce vita mixed with South Tyrolean tradition in Bolzano.
This is a must if you go to Florence. The painting in the dome is incredibly interesting and detailed. The views from the top are great. There are a lot of steps so be prepared. We stayed up the whole time until they told us we had to leave. Its amazing how they figured out to build these structures. Make sure to buy the pass that gets you into the dome, church, bell tower, and Baptistery. Women need to have their shoulders covered to enter the church for sure and they'd rathered that the knees were covered too but there were tons of people entering in shorts or modest skirts. If you forget, there is no shortage of vendors to purchase a cover from cheaply. Definitely save the PDF ticket to your phone and avoid the paper ticket. We're not sure if ours fell out of a pocket or was taken but someone Definitely used our paper ticket and we didn't get to see the Baptistery.

Bolzano Cathedral, a landmark of South Tyrol’s capital, stands proudly in the city center near Walther Square. Built in the 13th–14th centuries with red and yellow marble, it replaced earlier Romanesque structures. Its stunning 65-meter bell tower, crafted by Lombard and Swabian artisans, recalls Notre Dame’s elegance. Inside, highlights include the rebuilt Gothic pulpit, Baroque Chapel of Grace, and the Wine Door—one of Tyrol’s finest Gothic portals. The cathedral hosts regular Masses and houses a treasury museum nearby. Easily accessible by bus or underground parking, it’s especially magical during Advent, when the Bolzano Christmas Market fills Walther Square with festive charm.

Centrum is a convenient indoor shopping center that offers a variety of specialty stores, along with a supermarket, restaurant, and cafe. While the parking area may be somewhat tight and the exits narrow and winding, it is easily accessible from the highway. The Poli supermarket within the mall is particularly noteworthy. As the second largest shopping center in its city, Centrum boasts numerous shops to explore. Visitors appreciate the wide selection of stores and competitive prices for an enjoyable shopping experience.
Not a lot to do here, there used to be more shopping options, but many shops are closed. There's a cafe, a supermarket, a self-service lunch area, stores like H&M, pitta rosso and a few others.

As far as malls go this one just feels really weird and dead. I couldn’t see myself coming here again. It just had a strange collection of shops.

This is a mid-range shopping center with potential for improvement through better management. Several shops are closed, but it features well-known stores like H&M, Unieuro, and a large IPER supermarket. The second floor offers gelato and coffee, and there's a free parking garage, which adds convenience for visitors.

First time in Italy and eating here, at first glance the restaurant looked a bit posh and expensive, when we looked at the menu we was surprised by the prices (in a good way) So we sat, the food was amazing, can out very fast, service very friendly and helpful. Worked out around €20/€25 a head which was great value for the food/service/location. Highly recommended 🙏

As a pub / restaurant, it is lively with the locals having fun! If you're the type who likes a quiet atmosphere, then this ain't the place for you. Menu is all in Italian and German, but the one who took our order was very kind to explain the dishes in English and all recommendations! Service is proper, and food was satisfying overall! Filetto di Manzo was cooked the way I wanted it and the pork Milanese was tender and juicy. Portions were huge and couldn't finish it all! Sadly had no space for desserts. This place has mixed reviews, but I had a pleasant dinner and would ask the owners to watch out for their glasses cause mine had a chip at the base. Had a great dinner and will do come again, Gracie!

It’s honestly hard to find bad food in an Italian restaurant… but this place really went out of its way to get it wrong! The pasta (homemade ravioli with squid ink) was overcooked and served cold, with a sauce that tasted old and ended up giving me indigestion. The service was just as disappointing: the waiters were unfriendly, not a smile or even a “thank you,” and they seemed annoyed every time we asked for something. Most notably, when we asked for a glass for our son (they had only brought glasses for the adults), they looked at us like we were asking for something outrageous. How did they expect our son to drink water? The only good thing about this restaurant is its location, right in the center of Bolzano. Unfortunately, a good location isn’t enough to make up for such a negative experience.

A refined dining experience in the center of Bolzano, Italy. Arôme was a very nice dining experience…. From the beef tartare, the ultra tender and flavor beef cheek and the black truffle house made tagliatelle… everything was delicious. The servers worked as a team and were formal and professional, yet friendly. A rooftop is available on nice days, too. This is one restaurant I would gladly return.

Wonderful Italian restaurant with excellent service. The rooftop terrace is incredibly romantic, with views of the cathedral and the mountains. The menu is small but well-curated — we tried the tartare, rabbit, veal, and fish, and everything was delicious. Great wine selection too. It’s also very quiet, making it perfect for a romantic evening for two or a small group.

I am 60 years old, from metropolitan Surrey in th UK, so am used to the occasional fine dining experience... and this is completely up there. We should also mention the waiting staff. My wife and I went here on our honeymoon after a spa day in Merano. I cannot recommend it enough. It’s a small restaurant and amazingly cozy. All of the staff were super friendly. We did the tasting menu and it was a ton of food and all of it was amazing. The beef tartar was our favorite. We went on a lot of nice dinners throughout northern Italy on our honeymoon, but I can confidently say this was my favorite dinner of the trip. I would highly recommend to anybody in the area!

The waitress promised that it wouldn't rain, so we ate on the terrace (recommended for the view) and she was right. The food was interesting and local - my husband had deer ravioli and I had asparagus and salmon. We shared the beef filet and it was absolutely amazing - melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Our servers recommended some local wines (a glass of sparkling to start and red to match the beef) and both were excellent. For dessert, we indulged in a sweet wine to go with the strawberry and chocolate. A stand-out meal.

While the service may be slow at times, the friendly staff and delicious food, including Campagnolo stuffed focaccia and amazing pasta dishes, make it worth the wait.
Delicious food and an excellent service. Very comfy and familiar atmosphere, with an open kitchen. Typical Italian experience and should definitely be on the list, when in Bolzano. A reservation may be recommended.

Terrific pizzas. Campagnolo stuffed focaccia was simple yet wonderful, and the pasta dishes looked amazing. The small kitchen could present longer wait times when very busy though.

Wow, definitely some of the best pizza we've ever had. Friendly service, nice ambiance, excellent wine. The epitome of a great Italian restaurant.
Daniel Z — Google review
We stayed in Bolzano for two weeks and this was our favorite restaurant. It is affordable and authentic... the pizzas are fantastic (try the Bufala or the Diavola!). It's not fancy, but the atmosphere is lively and attractive - it is situated in one of Bolzano's lovely narrow alleys with a few outdoor tables on the street. Indoors is a little hot, but it is fun to watch them make the pizzas. The waiter is friendly and attentive. It is worth seeking this place out!
Colleen M — Google review
It’s the slowest service you’ll ever receive. The staff are ok but they’re often rushed. The decor is nothing interesting and they’re highly likely to forget your order, bring things out to your table with 20 mins difference... But the pizza is sooo good you can forgive them anything. It’s the best pizza in town by a country mile.

Very tasty pizza shop with reasonable price

First off, the staff was very polite and welcoming. Service was quick and easy, and the food (or at least the pizza) was delicious. I can definitely recommend.

Twenty Mall Bolzano Review Title: A Pleasant and Manageable Shopping Experience at Twenty Mall Bolzano Twenty Mall Bolzano provides a refreshing take on the shopping mall experience. The mall isn't overwhelmingly large, which makes for a more relaxed and navigable shopping environment. Its size is ideal for visitors who prefer to avoid the fatigue that often accompanies trips to larger malls. The selection of shops is well-curated, offering a balanced mix of retail options without the redundancy that larger malls sometimes suffer from. From fashion to electronics, and beauty to home goods, shoppers can find a variety of items to meet their needs. Dining options, though not extensive, are adequate for a mall of this size, providing a range of choices from quick bites to sit-down meals. The quality of food on offer is commendable and can cater to a quick lunch during shopping or a more leisurely dining experience. Customer service is generally good, with store personnel being helpful and polite. The mall's facilities are clean and well-maintained, contributing to a comfortable atmosphere for all visitors. Parking facilities are sufficient and well-organized, allowing for easy access to the mall without the usual stress of finding a spot. In conclusion, Twenty Mall Bolzano is an inviting shopping destination that scores high on convenience and ease of access. It's a great option for those who prefer a more intimate and less crowded shopping experience without sacrificing variety and quality.

No real highlights in this small mall. But with Decathlon worth a visit as a tourist. You can use the free parking on the other side to take a bus shuttle to the City Center.

The really unique experience of shopping unlike downtown Bolzano. The stores are nice and have a lot to offer, however more and more stores with well known brands are closed (Geox, Desigual etc.).

Monuments & Statues
The Victory Monument, built in 1928 to commemorate Italy's victory in World War I, is a prominent landmark in Gries. The monument, designed by Marcello Piacentini at the behest of the fascist regime, now houses the 'BZ '18-'45 - A monument, a city, two dictatorships' exhibition since 2014. Crossing the Talvera bridge leads to this historical site and also provides access to the Saturday market held in its square.
It is a monument that every person should see. Its a monument that was built after world war I to celebrate Italian victory against austro-hungaric empire. When you are near the monument you can also see breathtaking sights around you.
Doğa D — Google review
We saw the Bolzano Victory Monument from a distance. The walk towards the monument, crossing the bridge over the river, was absolutely beautiful, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. The combination of nature and the monument’s striking presence made the journey to it memorable.
Highway V — Google review
The Victory Monument in Bolzano, built under Mussolini in 1928, long symbolized ethnic and political tensions in South Tyrol. Recent efforts to historicize and reinterpret it—culminating in a 2014 exhibition—have shifted public perception, fostering dialogue and reflection on the region’s complex legacy of fascism and dictatorship between 1918 and 1945.

Beautiful place 👍i was in the summer here and was inspired with this huge architecture, not far from it there ist a river and peaceful nature. The grateful combination of the threes and building. Also in the front of it , through the road you can see an interesting statement. This is a calm place, despite the fact that there are many tourists here in the summer

WW1 monument located just outside city center near the river. It's very imposing. It's possible to enter inside to see a small museum. Unfortunately closed when I visited. In very good condition. Hard to miss.
Paul H — Google review
Museum is well done with friendly staff. Monument should be destroyed, in my opinion, just as swastikas were removed in Germany.
J R — Google review
One of the better small town history museums I have been too. Really enjoyed reading through the history of Bolzano through WW1 and WW2.
Tommy — Google review
Honsetly not giving the monument 4 points, but rather the location. Don't get me wrong, the monument is pretty cool too, but the location is what makes it into a great place for me. Near the city but with a very nice park next to it, that allows for some very comfortable walks throughout the entire year (if you're dressed for it) and every saturday there is a weekly market, where there are a bunch of streetvendors. As I've said, the location makes the monument a lot more interessting.

Mountain cable car
The Funivia Renon, or Renon Cable Car, is an exhilarating way to ascend from the valley floor to Soprabolzano, perched 1000 meters above Bolzano. This impressive gondola lift covers a distance of 4560 meters in just 12 minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Dolomites and the charming city below.
Fantastic cable car ride giving superb views over South Tyrol and the city of Bolzano. The cable car runs very regularly. At the top there are various places to have a sna k or a meal or you can go further on a short railway journey along the top. There are loads of hiking trails- but best to pick one suitable for your level of fitness ( there are rout3s for all abilities but worth checking it out beforehand).
Joe B — Google review
Very pleasant trip to the Renon plateau by cable car and small local train . We ended at a restaurant where we had delicious apple strudel with cream and ice cream
Vivienne B — Google review
Very beautiful and takes you to little villages above. Nice activity to do for lunch and a bier. The Dolomites are beautiful.
Brad S — Google review
Everyone should try it, the view from the cabins is beautiful. There were quite a lot of people, but the ascent and descent are well organized because the cabins leave every 5 minutes. If you also want to take the narrow-gauge railway up there, the ticket is €20, it is really worth it.
Péter S — Google review
An experience absolutely worth doing if you are near Bolzano. Breathtaking views, Italian-German styles that intertwine in a truly unique mix and flavors that are difficult to forget. Not far from the Bolzano train station it is possible to take the Renon cable car where, once at the top, a beautiful train awaits you that shuttles from Maria Assunta to Soprabolzano, Stella and Collalbo.

A very lovely and elegant restaurant with nice music choice. The staff were very welcoming, attentive while giving guests their privacy. Food was extremely delicious. All the dishes were executed perfectly. The only thing we did not really like was the amount of the dishes. Overall, the dining experience was remarkable.

If I can give a higher rating for service, I absolutely would. Special shout out to Alba and Eva for looking after us so well and making us feel so spoilt. The professionalism and service beats some of the Michelin star restaurants I've been to. Presentation of food was great, taste of food was well balanced and to die for. I went for the classic set menu and was happy with everything. We had lunch and the ambience was great and not overcrowded. Staff explained all the dishes clearly. Thank you again for an amazing experience.

Great view, great service and great food! We had the 4 course meal and all the dishes were really delicious. My husband really liked the risotto and even said it was the best dish he's ever had. The dishes were presented beautifully and were so innovative. I especially liked the starter (sour cream & cucumber). The servers were really great and took the time to explain each dish. Overall, we had a really great experience. If you're in Bolzano, this is a must try! Also, perfect ambience for a date night :)

One of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to! Even better than some Michelin stars places where we paid double the price. The service was incredible (especially Max), the surroundings stunning, and each bite was an absolute delight. The olive oil was be the best I’ve tasted (and I’ve tried a lot of them!), and the wines were truly amazing as well. We ended up buying a bottle of the dessert wine and olive oil to make the pleasure last longer at home. Don’t miss it!

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Bolzano, Il Corso Pizzeria Ristorante is a gem that captivates with its elegant setting and commitment to high-quality cuisine. The culinary duo, Santo Gabriele and his son Francesco, masterfully craft their pizzas using a traditional Neapolitan approach. Their signature dough boasts a unique blend of type 00 and whole-grain flours, resulting in an irresistibly soft and golden crust after meticulous leavening and baking.
Gorgeous restaurant with great attention to visual beauty. We sat outside in the grand covered patio. We shared the hummus falafel salad composed of plentiful salad greens, shaved zucchini, partially dried and fresh tomatoes, crisp hot falafel and rustic hummus. Our Etna pizza was topped with blue cheese, shaved dry sausage, marinara. With so many toppings, the thin crust did not hold together but the flavors were divine.

Awesome, great, and delicious pizzas. It tasted like they flew them in from Naples. The place is very busy, the waiting times for us were long but not bad. Inside was noisy because of the many people. We were lucky that they could find us seating. My personal opinion is that they should remove some seating to reduce waiting times and give the waiters more time to give the customer's a better experience. Because it was generally rushed service.

Very nice restaurant - it seems its very popular as there were many reservations on the tables. Despite the place being almost full, service was quick. And the pizzas delicious. You can pay with card. I would suggest to reserve table in advance. English menu was only available by qr code on the table.

Easily the best pizza in the town/ area and in my top three for the Dolomites in general. I opted for one of the speciality pizzas and it did not disappoint, great flavour and soft crust!

We had two pasta plates which were very nice unfortunately Santiago service was the worst I experienced due to mine 2 weeks stay in Italy. This was a beautiful authentic Italian restaurant with fantastic food and genuine service. The bread was light and very fresh with fantastic flavour. Literally no need to add anything as it was gorgeous on it's own! Same could be said about the flavour of my pasta which was clearly freshly made, but the additional of a delicious sauce plus copious amounts of fresh truffles made it to die for!! Topped off with a freshly mixed Aperol Spritz and our last meal in Italy was definitely one to remember. Thank you.❤️

We tried this place out after reading on the positive reviews and the food was indeed delicious. The service was okay, could be better. The waiter didn’t understand when we ordered hot tea but didn’t ask us to clarify and instead we were left wondering for quite some time about our drink. Only after 15-20mins when we asked and she said that she didn’t understand the order. But she apologized and brought us the hot tea. Other than that, the food came quite quickly and both of our dishes were delicious. We ordered the truffle pasta & lasagna. Wouldn’t mind coming back here again if we’re in the area.
