Nestled on a hill above Bolzano, Italy, Castel Roncolo is a medieval castle adorned with secular frescoes from the Middle Ages. The 13th-century structure boasts faded yet captivating frescoes depicting scenes from the story of Tristan and Isolde and other tales of romance and chivalry. Visitors can explore its rooms, galleries, garden, and small vineyard while taking in the imposing structure that has stood for centuries.
Well worth the visit. Got the bus up and then walked down. Bit of a tricky walk up the steep cobblestone path from the bus stop to the castle entrance. Castle was very quiet whilst we were there. Loved taking out time and admiring the frescoes in many of the rooms. Good information provided in English, whilst audio guide is also available via QR code. Stunning views throughout. Highly recommend coming out here.
Peter K — Google review
Exceptional opportunity to be up close to medieval art in addition to the castle itself. The frescos are beautiful and interesting. It’s slightly arduous getting up the steep cobblestone path to the castle but you’re rewarded with a very nice cafe/bar (we got a great snack plate and two beers for €15). The castle tour is self-guided using an app you download. Was pretty intuitive. The castle is great, but equally great are the views of the valley below.
Scott D — Google review
One of the best castle visits I’ve ever had. It’s a unique place—beautiful, small, yet very complete. The wall frescoes are spectacular, and we really enjoyed both the stories and the spaces. I highly recommend visiting with the audio guide, as it makes the experience even richer. The staff are lovely, and the entrance fee of only €10 is very affordable and well worth it. Overall, we truly loved the visit and it’s definitely worth going.
Alba M — Google review
I recommend to pre download the audio guide. It takes like 2 hours or more to see everything if you want to read everything. It is interesting and they have some games and a movie section.
Mike P — Google review
Absolutely brilliant castle, with beautifully preserved frescoes. It is a great visit and is extremely interesting. We particularly enjoyed the nre education centre, where we learned a great deal and engaged with the exhibits. The castle cat was a real nonus as was the restaurant. Excellent!!!
Jo T — Google review
Beautiful castle that is worth visiting. We had fun, lots of interactive entertainment. We were lucky to meet furry princess there as well😄
Kseniia M — Google review
Nice Castle, definitely recommended. Pretty decent cappuccino in a shady spot in the courtyard. Ride a bike, park at the bottom of the steep cobbles or ride up the road if you have the gears for it.
Chris R — Google review
When we visited there at 4pm, most of exhibition rooms are closed and we couldn’t see match stuff. There is restaurant and open cafe. If you visit there for lunch or some coffee, you may have different opinions.

Museum

Messner Mountain Museum, located at Firmiano Castle, is part of a network of museums focusing on mountaineering. The museum circuit was created by the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner and is situated in Castel Firmiano, an emblem of South Tyrol. The tour inside the castle explores the ancient relationship between man and mountains through artwork, paintings, relics, and natural finds.
Wonderful museum set in an ancient castle high above Bolzano, Italy. Dedicated to European and Himalayan mountaineering occluded those who pioneered the various forms and those who lost their lives along the way. The museum also includes a huge amount of Buddhist and Himalayan art with its definitely worth seeing. It cost us €30 for two adults and we spent approx two hours there.
Bruce J — Google review
Definately worth a visit, this museum is really interesting and beautifully curated. There are fabulous pieces of art dotted all around and every space is utilised really well. Even if you're not hugely into mountaineering, the museum itself is so well designed that there's enough there for everyone. You can walk along the walls and up the towers, but be advised that you would have to be ok climbing as there are a lot of steps, and there's a bit of a rough path to walk from the carpark. There's also a lovely cafe in a pretty setting. I would highly recommend the museum as it was a half a day well spent .
Caroline B — Google review
Amazing museum in a fantastic location. You can lose yourself for hours among panoramas, spirituality and the meaning of mountaineering. Separate segments paint a glorious - although at times sad - picture of life among mountains tops. Great museum
Tony B — Google review
Well designed and varied mountaineering museum located in Sigmundskron Castle just outside Bolzano. Interesting exhibitions and also a nice view over the valley.
Dirk — Google review
It is a unique place to deeply explore hiking history.. Must visit if you like history, fortress, and hiking.
Konstantinos E — Google review
Don’t be fooled, the museum is bigger than it looks from the outside! It was super cool and lots of interesting exhibits to see. We loved the flow of it. The parking is a satellite parking area - it’s confusing but apparently you pay for parking after not when you first pull in.
Amber C — Google review
Not terrible, but would say if you’re looking for a museum about mountaineering and climbing this isn’t for you. Mostly just lots of different paintings of mountains (which after you’ve seen some can get a bit repetitive). Also no real explanations about anything and mostly slightly generic quotes lining the walls. Nice setting and cafe. Would have been good to hear more about the expeditions and the climbing itself.
Nick E — Google review
Not really a museum disappointing for anyone expecting a story First of all, this is not a museum in the traditional sense — it’s more of a gallery filled with various objects that are in some way connected to Reinhold Messner. There are no explanations or context provided, and by the time you reach the end, someone who came in not knowing who Messner was will likely still have no idea. That’s a real shame, considering how fascinating and unique his life has been. There’s no narrative, no personal story, no background on the exhibits — just items on display. If you’re not deeply into alpinism or mountaineering, you’ll likely be confused and left with more questions than answers. But even if you are interested in those things, the lack of depth or storytelling makes the experience quite flat and unsatisfying. The only real positive is the location — the castle is beautiful and the views are stunning. But unfortunately, that alone doesn’t make up for what this museum lacks.

*Friendly and helpful staff. Special and engaging exhibitions. I took a guided tour with the class and I must say that I really liked the activity proposed by the guide, which consisted of making an "album" representative of who we are and how we describe ourselves in the eyes of others..
Matthias S — Google review
Quite a large museum, several floors, but to be honest I didn’t really understand contemporary art. There were no people at all.
Viktoriia T — Google review
Great exhibition about black futurism. The other exhibits lack critical reflection which might not bother those who like to delve in Techno escapism and the umptieth revival of esoteric rave culture.
Tobi S — Google review
When we visited the museum had an interesting exhibition centred on graffiti art which was engaging. Very quiet and a light and airy place to walk around. But please Museion, improve the washroom standards; they were not very clean.
David K — Google review
Beautiful art exhibition (collection of Erling Kagge in September 2020). Thanks to the corona regulations you had plenty of space to walk around, it was very quiet and empty, we had an amazing time. The architecture is amazing as well. Just the overall organization of the exhibition was from time to time a bit confusing.
Dorian H — Google review
It's a nice building but the collection is underwhelming. It's of if you don't have much to do and it's too hot or raining outside.. otherwise I would skip it
Mariana B — Google review
the art was great, but the staff kept circulating me and watching me the whole time i was there. i felt very very uncomfortable. I was just drawing in my sketchbook the whole time. one brunette male staff member got very mad at me for carrying a chair that a different staff member gave to me so i could be more comfortable. was having a terrible day already and after he raised his voice at me and made me feel dumb i started to cry and had to leave.

Bolzano Cathedral, a restored late-Gothic church, is a jewel of Romanesque and Gothic art located in the main square of Bolzano. The cathedral features a patterned, multicolor marble roof and an elaborate steeple, making it a majestic sight from the outside. Visitors can explore the rich historical and artistic heritage of the region while enjoying Italian dolce vita mixed with South Tyrolean tradition in Bolzano.
This is a must if you go to Florence. The painting in the dome is incredibly interesting and detailed. The views from the top are great. There are a lot of steps so be prepared. We stayed up the whole time until they told us we had to leave. Its amazing how they figured out to build these structures. Make sure to buy the pass that gets you into the dome, church, bell tower, and Baptistery. Women need to have their shoulders covered to enter the church for sure and they'd rathered that the knees were covered too but there were tons of people entering in shorts or modest skirts. If you forget, there is no shortage of vendors to purchase a cover from cheaply. Definitely save the PDF ticket to your phone and avoid the paper ticket. We're not sure if ours fell out of a pocket or was taken but someone Definitely used our paper ticket and we didn't get to see the Baptistery.
Kathleen R — Google review
Bolzano Cathedral, a landmark of South Tyrol’s capital, stands proudly in the city center near Walther Square. Built in the 13th–14th centuries with red and yellow marble, it replaced earlier Romanesque structures. Its stunning 65-meter bell tower, crafted by Lombard and Swabian artisans, recalls Notre Dame’s elegance. Inside, highlights include the rebuilt Gothic pulpit, Baroque Chapel of Grace, and the Wine Door—one of Tyrol’s finest Gothic portals. The cathedral hosts regular Masses and houses a treasury museum nearby. Easily accessible by bus or underground parking, it’s especially magical during Advent, when the Bolzano Christmas Market fills Walther Square with festive charm.
Dr. H — Google review
Beautiful church, I happened to come in about 20 minutes before the mass on Sunday, and the organist and the cantor were practicing, so I got a taste of how the sound moved in the space Sorry to be missing the organ concert series scheduled in August.

The Duomo di Bolzano (Santa Maria Assunta) is an absolute must-see. Its soaring 65 m Gothic spire makes it one of South Tyrol’s most iconic landmarks
Shreya G — Google review
Nice church to visit in the middle of the small city Bolzano. It may look a bit like standard church when you walk in, but give it some time and walk further inside to visit the chapels where you can admire old paintings.
Omid G — Google review
Impressive church with very unique architecture. Certainly worth a visit while in Bolzano.
Hector R — Google review
Inside the door, you have to make a donation to the deaf to enter this church. Well the scammer who isn't deaf but is blocking you from entering will make you feel as though you do. They run into the church when they see tourists about to enter, then after you give them money, they vanish. Please vote this review up to help people, because the scammers will try to hide this review by voting it down.

Located in the heart of Bolzano, Castel Mareccio is a 13th-century fortress with Renaissance-era round-corner towers and frescoes. Situated amidst vineyards and backed by forested hills, this imposing castle offers a glimpse into its stone-walled medieval interior. While now serving as a convention center, it retains its historical charm and is open to the public for exploration.
Lots of things are closed on Mondays but his was open. It was a cool castle that appears to have been restored nicely. There was a postcard exhibit that was fun to see. Not a lot of furniture or hanging art but there was art painted on the walls which was cool. The castle was surrounded by a vineyard and had incredible views of the mountains. Worth the visit.

The castle is an impressive sight. Surrounded by beautiful vineyards and framed by the mountains, it offers a stunning backdrop. The well-preserved walls and towers give a real sense of the history of the place. The peaceful setting and scenic views make it a lovely spot for a walk around the ground.

The castle itself isn't anything great. You also can't enter. It's for private use or public events. However it sits near city center in the middle of vineyards. In spring it's beautiful, with mountain views behind. Worth stopping at.

The Funivia Renon, or Renon Cable Car, is an exhilarating way to ascend from the valley floor to Soprabolzano, perched 1000 meters above Bolzano. Fantastic cable car ride giving superb views over South Tyrol and the city of Bolzano. The cable car runs very regularly. At the top there are various places to have a sna k or a meal or you can go further on a short railway journey along the top. There are loads of hiking trails- but best to pick one suitable for your level of fitness ( there are rout3s for all abilities but worth checking it out beforehand).

Everyone should try it, the view from the cabins is beautiful. There were quite a lot of people, but the ascent and descent are well organized because the cabins leave every 5 minutes. If you also want to take the narrow-gauge railway up there, the ticket is €20, it is really worth it.

An experience absolutely worth doing if you are near Bolzano. Breathtaking views, Italian-German styles that intertwine in a truly unique mix and flavors that are difficult to forget. Not far from the Bolzano train station it is possible to take the Renon cable car where, once at the top, a beautiful train awaits you that shuttles from Maria Assunta to Soprabolzano, Stella and Collalbo.

A beautiful place with lots of original and rare flowers. I recommend going there with your friends, then it is interesting to explore. In addition, the castle in which the restaurant is located. Really stunning place.

Beautiful garden with a wide variety of botanical riches--from the "trees of the world" area to the amazing and artful viewing platform set high above the garden to the more formal plantings around the big pond and in the sunny hills near the castle. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed every minute.

We visited the Botanical Gardens of Schloss Trauttmansdorff and highly recommend it. Parking at P3 or P4 is free and just a short 5-minute walk to the entrance. The park is beautifully designed with a wide variety of landscapes and attractions. We started on the left and worked our way through to the right, spending about 2.5 hours in total. There’s a lot to see and experience. Some paths are quite steep, so it might be a bit challenging for older visitors. Overall, a stunning place well worth the visit.

Must see if you are in the area, 3-4 hours is minimum to be able to see all
Ivan S — Google review
This place is so awesome I don't even want to write a review about it, it might make it busier in this era of overtourism. But anyway: this garden is too beautiful to be true: the location in the Alps, the hilly terrain of the park, and the variety of plants and flowers and artwork. Usually it's sunny here which really helps. We were here in late October which was perfect. Walking around is not really doable for people who don't walk well. Parking is easy, there's also a bus to the station and it's an easy detour from the Brenner tollway.

The garden itself is beautiful but be aware that there are car thieves operating in the car parks. Smashed windows and stolen belongings are a common occurrence.

Hopfen & Co. is a down-to-earth South Tyrolean restaurant that's a must-visit for every guest of Bolzano. It's known for its craft beer and hearty mains like pork knuckle. The brewery-restaurant, located in a former corner tower of the city walls with an old prison, offers culinary hospitality in a museum-like setting.
We had the goulash stew with dumplings and a dessert after, and everything was seriously delicious. The meat was super tender, the sauce was full of flavor, and the dumplings were perfect with it. Just really comforting, tasty food. Dessert hit the spot too — no complaints at all. If you’re in Bolzano and want something hearty and homemade-feeling, this place is definitely worth it. I’m already missing the goulash 😭

Very nice place with outdoor seating. We had to wait for like 20mns to get an outdoor seating but worth the wait. Very good service the food came quite quickly. I had the tuna and egg salad and the Schultzkrafpen (type of pasta with spinach and ricotta without the sauce) and hubby ate the pork ribs which as you can see from the photo devoured them saying they were a delicatessen. Very fairly priced around €20 per person.
Lama K — Google review
Even though it’s a touristy place, the food was way above expectations! The freshly brewed beer was fantastic, the sausages with sauerkraut had just the right balance, and the cranberry sauce with the schnitzel was absolutely unforgettable. We sat outside, enjoyed the atmosphere, and my family couldn’t have been happier with our lunch.
Natasha K — Google review
Great place to stop for lunch near the Bolzano fresh fruits and flowers market. The knodel was pretty delicious. But the best is the craft beer house brewed. Super smooth and refreshing on a hot summer day. It might be a little crowded but just get a stray menu, find an empty seat and call for a waiter and order. They are busy but it’s worth the wait. Even if you are not hungry or don’t feel like eating, at least try the beer
Jo J — Google review
Was there during the weekend for a lunch. Nice atmosphere, dinning outside, waitresses organized and friendly. We didn’t wait for so long for the service. Food was delicious. I ordered a bistecca di lombata di vitello - local veal loin steak with chanterelle sauce, potatoes and green beans with bacon; cabbage salad and the sin after - Topfenknödel. Everything was excellent, meet was melting in the mouth basically. Dessert delicious. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Big plus as they work during all the day and they don’t close from 15-18h, as we arrived around 15:30h for a lunch, which is late for the Italian standards 😅 Excellent quality price ratio. We are looking forward to coming back to this restaurant in the future.

Gulash was very tasyt. But the rest of the food was mid. Soup was to salty and portion was small. Special beer was very good.

This is a very nice restaurant. The food is quite good, with some very good prices (as an example we payed 12€ for the spare ribs). The location is also excellent, so if you’re hungry and you’re looking for something nice & not very expensive, then this is the place for you. They also have an excellent artisan beer. Overall a place to try.

Sadly we didn't enjoy our dinner at this place. Our food was pretty average. The pork knuckle was good, unfortunately the rest of our dinner was mediocre at best. The sausage, potatoes and saurkraut dish arrived cold and undercooked. The service was friendly.

Wirtshaus Vögele is a historic venue located near the beautiful Piazza della Frutta, with a traditional menu featuring local classics such as veal head with eggs and onions, carne salada, and speck. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere in the heart of Bolzano and prides itself on using seasonal ingredients from local producers. Diners can enjoy dishes like ricotta dumplings in broth, potato fritters with sauerkraut, and lamb cutlets.
Super friendly staff who helped us with our stroller, both with the stairs and finding a quiet spot. The food was excellent across the board, from the cold cuts (the best I’ve had in Bolzano) to the main dish, everything was spot on. The atmosphere is also very pleasant, making you feel fully immersed in Tyrolean culture.
Gaultierus — Google review
Charming spot near the center of Bolzano, just a short walk from the cathedral. The restaurant is located on a picturesque, cobbled street with lovely outdoor seating under the arcades — perfect for people-watching and enjoying the local atmosphere. Service was quick and efficient. I tried a regional specialty: a selection of Hirschknödel (venison dumplings) with different flavors, served with a warm bacon salad — a typical South Tyrolean dish that was both tasty and interesting. I also had the tagliatelle with wild boar ragù, another local classic. The sauce was flavorful and well prepared, though the pasta itself was slightly overcooked and oddly short, as if it had been cut — a bit of a shame. Still, considering the central location and overall good quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable. A solid and honest place I’d recommend for a casual meal while strolling through Bolzano.
Eric D — Google review
This restaurant is steeped in history. The staff is professional and friendly. The menu is more Südtirol-style than typical Italian. The Wienerschnitzel, made authentically with veal, was tender and fried to perfection. The Knödel also had a unique flavor I haven't tasted in Germany. I would highly recommend this place.
Chien-Chih P — Google review
Quaint restaurant featuring local tyrolian cuisine. It’s a vibrant spot and institution in town amongst locals and tourists. I found the dishes good especially the octopus and grilled steak with mushrooms. However, I did find the service a bit lacking, not very detail oriented and one may have to repeat their request. Other than that a must try in Bolzano.
Jean D — Google review
Authentic place with South Tyrolean cuisine. When booking, ask for a table either outside on the street or on the first floor - the second and third floors don’t really have the same atmosphere. The food is excellent, exactly what you need in this region: the must-try canederli (traditional bread dumplings made with speck or cheese and best enjoyed in broth), amazing chanterelle mushrooms (now in season), and veal head. The goulash is wonderful, and even the kids’ schnitzel is absolutely delicious.
Natasha K — Google review
The meals we had - ravioli and Schnitzel - were both delicious, portions were nice too, but the inside dining area is uncomfortably hot, however if you opt to eat outside, you need to share the airspace with smokers.
György A — Google review
This was a super tasty wiener schnitzel. We actually came without looking at reviews because this place was always packed when passing by, so one day we dropped in earlier for lunch and even then there was no more seating in the outside or first floor, but luckily still plenty of seating upstairs, which also completely filled up rather quickly. Food was very tasty and I regret not ordering more that day as this was one of the best restaurants I dined at while in Bolzano. It was only later while searching for best wiener schnitzl in Bolzano that this place consistently showed up. Also, the environment is quite cozy, and you can imagine the long history of this restaurant. Only downside is service is quite slooooow, which is pretty much standard in this area.

Despite its prime location, the focus here is on high-quality food and attentive service. The menu features local dishes and includes gluten-free options, with the restaurant being praised for possibly serving the best gluten-free pizza around. The staff is well-trained by the Italian Celiac Association, ensuring a safe dining experience for those with dietary restrictions.
Great for celiacs! The staff is so nice and caring with gluten-free food. They made sure to come to me first, asking for my order, so no mistakes were made. And I got my food first too with a little red flag in it stating "gluten-free". All the desserts are gluten-free! The tiramisu and pizza are incredible. We made a reservation again afterwards for the next night 😄

I’m always extremely happy to find restaurants like this one that offer a wide range of gluten-free options. The food was tasty, and the staff was friendly. However, we had to wait more than half an hour for the pizza. In addition, my husband’s pizza was brought out quite a bit before mine. The gluten-free strudel was good, but the regular one left my husband unimpressed.

Here I had the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever tasted. It was so close to the real pizza dough taste I couldn’t believe it. Such a pleasure for us to have dinner at Walther’s. This charming restaurant in the heart of Bolzano offers both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the lively atmosphere of Walther Square. We chose to sit outside, soaking in the pleasant weather and vibrant street views. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming—some of them Arabic-speaking—which added a warm, personal touch. For lunch, we ordered spaghetti, lasagna, and coffee, all of which were absolutely delicious. The service was prompt and cheerful, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this lovely spot for its great food, scenic location, and inviting ambiance. A true gem in Bolzano’s city center.

This was a fun place to enjoy a cool sprtiz. The drinks didn't come in the typical wine glass with a straw but they were still good and it was more sitting in the square. We did get a little snack of chips and something else that were quite tasty. There was a guy pin the Plaza playing guitar which made for nice background music.

Always a pleasure to eat here. The view of Piazza Walther was really nice at sunset. I love the pastă a with tomato sauce, basil and I order with extra buratta 😍 it’s one of my favorite dishes. My husband ordered English-style roasted beef, it was really good. Would recommend eating here!
Andreea D — Google review
My wife has a diet that is probably the worst thing to have while traveling in Europe: gluten-free. All of the great breads, pies, pastries, etc. But she found this restaurant on the square, close to our hotel. I went in expecting it to be decent. And boy was I wrong... The head manager/owner greeted us and got us seated, and we proceeded to have one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The staff were genuine, professional, but also real. They were funny, even. The food was perfect... It wasn't over-the-top in trying to be too fancy, too "fusioned," or anything of the sort. It wasn't anything other than sublime. Beef tagliata with shaved truffle, which my wife cleaned every morsel of - and my roasted spring chicken had this subtle flavoring and perfect level of roasting that let all of the flavors work beautifully. We ended up having dessert and two glasses of a delicious amaro - and much laughter with our very sharp and lively serving team... It was an amazing evening, and to add to our own enjoyment, the whole mood of the place was truly warm and friendly, full of locals who knew it to be a great spot to dine. I'll definitely be back. This place just passed up several of the more "chic" and "classic/classy" spots in this beautiful town - and there is some real competition in Bolzano. Thank you for a glorious evening, Walther's!

The museum includes a coral reef aquarium on the second floor and a shop with stone-carved animals. While it offers informative displays, visitors should note that most panels are only in Italian or German.
Amazing museum!!! The scientific exhibitions are great and all but the true strength of this wonderful institution lies in its seats! Couches, benches, alcoves, stools, toilets, you name it... A well earned rest for your worn buttocks. Highly recommend, especially Exhibition 1, which has the comfiest of couches, in great quantity. The locker room is however also worth a visit, with some innovative and modern seating arrangements! Less notable and important aspects include: + Interesting and informative displays and text + Mesmerising aquariums + Hysterical ant habitat - Only the temporary exhibition had English translations, everything else is in German and Italian only 10/10, would sit here again.

Tim P — Google review
A well curated museum with lots of thought going into the exhibits. Unfortunately many of the most interesting only have explanations in German and Italian and the accompanying audio guide in English is simplistic and doesn't cover some of the more interesting displays, which was a great disappointment - especially as so many tourists from the US are now apparently embracing Bolzano. A number of the permanent interactive exhibits were broken, which was also a pity. Unfortunately, this museum, in common with most of the others in Bolzano no longer offers free entry on presentation of a Bolzano card, although there are some discounts available.

This reconstruction of a stone age village is fun and educational for the entire family. We learned how to make fire with rocks, cook bread on an open fire, shoot a bow and arrow, and ride a canoe carved from a tree trunk. It was a big hit with both children who were determined to hit a plastic bunny with their wooden arrows. The museum does a great of explaining how life in the Alps was 5,000 years ago and there are plenty of hands on activities that make learning interesting.

Thermal baths
Terme Merano is a seasonal thermal park and year-round indoor spa featuring 25 bathing pools, saunas, and a fitness center. The Hotel Terme Meran offers a quiet and spacious room with friendly staff. The hotel boasts an adults-only thermal infinity pool on the rooftop overlooking the town and snow-capped mountains. During winter holidays, visitors can enjoy ice skating at the nearby rinks or explore the Christmas market in the decorated spa town.
Came here on a rainy day. This place is very large with many pools that have different temperatures. There are area where you can lay indoor and sleep/rest. They do not provide towels and are additional to entrance fee. The rate was 18€ for 2 hours or 20€ for 3 hours. Each additional hour after the 2 hour mark is 10€.
Vu N — Google review
Terme di Merano is a true gem in this small city. It’s always a pleasure to return and spend some time in the lovely pools. However, this time the experience was less relaxing due to children and teenagers screaming and splashing about all day. The lifeguards do their best to keep the situation under control, but it doesn’t seem to be particularly effective. Children, in particular, are allowed access to every pool, rather than being directed to the smaller ones more suited to them. I believe the management should implement stricter rules to ensure children only use the pools designated for them. This would significantly improve the experience for other guests, who would no longer have to endure constant shouting or being splashed. Additionally, the outdoor pool at 37°C wasn’t accessible, as children were continuously diving into it and entering from all directions. This spoils the experience for adults who simply want to relax. I sincerely hope the management considers making some changes.
Waytokyoto — Google review
The experience was generally nice however I felt like the thermal pool had to be a bit hotter. Bistro’s menu can be improved there wasnt that much option. And even though we went on a random Tuesday it was crowded, luckily on holidays&crowded sessions you must reserve beforehand. The hygiene was sufficient.
Merve A — Google review
Nice pools though overcrowded in summer and not cheap. Many rules to follow which could be somewhat more politely expressed: cloakroom full, go outside, just to find out outside you need 1€ change which we did not have, came to cloakroom inside which were NOT FULL! Besides, yelled at for not bringing bought food outside of the bar etc etc... So many tourists so you're just one of them...
Charles C — Google review
Unlike many other reviewers we had a fabulous time here. It was September and pretty quiet, with few children. We preferred the outdoor pools, swimming in the fresh air. Temperatures varied but many pools were 34C. We stayed for 2 hours (it wasn’t warm enough to sit outside in wet costumes) All staff we came across were pleasant. Facilities were spotless. We brought towels, flip flops and shower soaps with us. We didn’t stay for lunch - preferring to go back into town and eat by the river. Lovely experience.
Annie G — Google review
I have to say unfortunately an horrible experience. We had a reservation for a 20 min massage and the spa for the whole day. €118 euros. For this amount of money we expected a relaxing experience. It was quite the opposite. Staff were rude except for the lady at the massage. Massage was a very light but relaxing massage for 15 min. Then we stepped back into the overcrowded hell with the pools and all the people and children. If you have been to a real spa, please avoid this commercial drained organization. Bistro was also a bad experience. Staff were uninterested helping you and a lot was already sold out (we were there at 3PM)

Nice and not that expansive The water should be more warm in my opinion
בן ס — Google review
This place is absolutely not relaxing. I went on a Tuesday afternoon expecting some calm, but it was incredibly overcrowded—people everywhere, chlorine smell hanging in the air, and water splashing all around. Even the adult-only spa area, which is supposed to be more private, was jam-packed. Guests were literally queuing up naked just to get inside. If going nude is your thing, that’s fine, but there was simply no space to enjoy or unwind. It was impossible to relax with the sheer number of people packed into every corner. Terrible experience overall. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, don’t bother coming here.

Seiser Alm, also known as Alpe di Siusi, is a high-altitude plateau and alpine meadow nestled in the Dolomites. At 2,000m above sea level, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of some of Italy's most magnificent mountains. This expansive meadow is a popular destination for skiing and mountain hikes, catering to all levels of expertise from easy nature strolls to challenging mountaineering.
Panoramic field surrounded by iconic Dolomites mountain. Cable car is really nice view. Bad thing is it’s hard to get parking in Summer.

Definitely a must see when in Dolomites. Great hiking area with wonderful view. Even in high season the place is so big you won't see the crowds. Only issue, you need to take a lift. You can try walking but the routes and parking rules are so weird we gave up the idea. You'll have enough trekking once up there.

Certainly, P' Tong. Here is the English translation: Visiting Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm), which is the largest high-alpine meadow in Europe, is an experience that is just as romantic and impressive as Seceda! You can conveniently take a cable car up from Ortisei to reach the top. Here, you'll find vast, sweeping green alpine meadows surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Dolomites. It is an ideal spot for taking a leisurely walk, capturing beautiful photos, or hiking along the many available trails. The peaceful atmosphere and magnificent natural scenery make Alpe di Siusi feel like a paradise on earth that you should not miss when visiting the Dolomites.
Tongz N — Google review
It's not my favorite Alpe, and it's very hot in summer. You have to pay every lift to go up or down. The signs are not very visible. I would recommend hiking a loop and taking the lift down. It's no fun to walk downhill on a ski run. Visitors were all very friendly. All the cows with cowbells on reminded you it's the Alpe, and it's nice sound effect with the grassy rolling hill background. Again, it's very hot in August and there are very few shady areas.

Guests can enjoy free breakfast as well as access to a restaurant and three bars on-site. Additionally, the hotel features a spa offering massages, an outdoor pool, and a fitness center for relaxation and recreation.
Excellent spot in the center of town. Modern rooms with contemporary art, helpful staff, and amazing facilities. Pool and garden of sister hotel across the street a hidden gem of an oasis in the middle of the city - for a mid day lounge and swim and evening cocktails. Breakfast room and terrace are lovely, as is the full buffet with berries and fruit, eggs, and smoked salmon in addition to the standard meat/cheese/bread. Room 110 has a terrace which made for a great space for an aperitif, picnic lunch, and late night tea. Beware the many short staircases which can be a struggle with luggage.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Very close to the Bolzano train station. All of the restaurants and shopping are right outside the front door. We got a complimentary upgrade when we checked in to a lovely room with a patio and a beautiful bathroom. One of the nicest hotel rooms we had on our entire trip to Italy. Access to the pool at the sister hotel right across the street was a great feature - especially on the 100° F summer days! Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! Great espresso drinks, great fresh fruit, and my favorite was the salmon lox Highly recommend!

Very nice hotel located just off the main plaza of Bozano. Our room had a small patio with 4 chairs and an umbrella where we had our morning coffee. The breakfast was excellent with a huge variety of breakfast foods, fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh baked breads, coffee and eggs to order and a hot tea bar. Service was excellent and you had a choice of dining indoors or outdoors on the balcony. We’d definitely recommend Hotel Greif!!
Helen P — Google review
Great (with *one* weird caveat) The service at Hotel Greif is incredible! The greeter was very nice and helpful. Sebastian in the dining room was a delight to my daughter each morning (whoopsy!) and Diego was a very relaxed and informative bartender. Everyone was just great! My only issue was that they drained the hot tubs between 9pm and 8am! Imagine my shock as I'm having an evening soak after my daughter goes to bed, and my hot tub drains on me! And then, I couldn't get up early to enjoy it, either, because it didn't fill until after we left the hotel to explore. I asked the front desk to change the automation, and they accommodated me the next couple days, to differing degrees. I would just warn anyone renting the rooms specifically to use the hot-tubs with a view, that the hours you might enjoy them might not be allowed. I think most people would find this ridiculous--as you paid for it. That weirdness aside, the Hotel Greif is a beautiful place with great staff and is about a ten minute or less walk from the main cable car--which is perfect and lets you avoid driving and parking.

Overall the stay was great. The room as clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast buffet selection was excellent. My only complaint is the noise. I believe it was from the rooftop bar. You could hear the bass of the music through the walls. Not good for a light sleeper. I only stayed one night so it wasn't an issue but I would have had to move if it was for an extended stay.
Mike S — Google review
Breakfast was delicious every morning and a highlight of our stay.! When we had a problem with the air conditioning, the staff was incredibly kind and quickly moved us to another room. The only downside was the artwork in our first room, which depicted male anatomy in every picture and felt more like something a high schooler would draw in a bathroom stall than real art. (Not great for my 13 year old daughter) Our second room was much better, and overall this was a five-star stay thanks to the wonderful service and hospitality!

(Translated by Google) Highly recommended, shady places along the "bicycle highway" - there is no other way to describe the top cycle path between Meran and Bolzano. Some German city centers would be happy about that. However, the rest areas are only grade 3 because some users simply drop their dirt where they were standing, despite the garbage containers. There is still room for improvement, everyone can take a look at themselves.

Beautiful park! Lots of well maintained trails, incredible views. Late May, beautiful day was not crowded.

The "Parco Naturale Puez Odle" is an UNESCO world heritage site. Wonderful mountains and nature, fauna and flora. Just scroll through the pictures to see what expects you. I would visit the different locations in the summer, but even in winter it is enjoyable, though less accessible. A minus is the increasing traffic on the roads leading to the nature park.
