Harlech Castle, located in North Wales, is a stunning and imposing fortress with two rings of walls. Built by Edward in 1289 as part of his 'iron ring' of fortresses, it boasts a massive twin-towered gatehouse and outer walls that still exude an aura of impregnability. The castle offers breathtaking views of Tremadog Bay and the mountains of Snowdonia.
**5/5 Stars** We had a fantastic time visiting Harlech Castle! There is a car park but it is rather small with around 30 spaces, with two disabled bays and two electric car charging spaces, so parking can be difficult if busy but there were signs to other car parks. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome, from the friendly pay desk to the lovely cafe. The toilets were spotless, which is always a nice considering how often they were used. When we entered the castle over a bridge with a view we were met by narrators, dressed in costume, who really brought the history of the castle to life! Yet with out the narrators we enjoyed the castle and it's amazing views as they were simply breathtaking, especially it you walk around on the top walk way. After exploring, we ended our visit with tea and cake at the cafe. The service was outstanding, with a lovely, chatty gentleman who served us who made our experience even more enjoyable. I had the coffee and walnut cake, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband had the Victoria sponge, which was also top-notch. A generous slice, too! Highly recommend this castle for both the history and the lovely cafe experience.

These ruins are very extensive, the drive up was good, except going up the 1 way street, that is supposed to be 2 way twisty turner turns, at 25% grade. It was a very rainy day. You can imagine the former glamour of the castle, perched on a mountain, overlooking the town, seeing the water nearby. You can check out all the ruins unguided, there is a restaurant and gift store next.
Sher P — Google review
A beautifully stunning and well preserved castle with a rich history of sieges. Built by the coast upon a rocky crag overlooking the sea, Harlech offers amazing panoramic views from every angle. Walk ways along the battlements await, with steep stairways up tall turrets to explore. Narrow steps so good footwear needed. There is information about the castle, cafe, toilets and shop. Small car park with pay meter. The village is very quaint with lovely little shops worth a look around. 'mwynhau'

An interesting and exceptionally well-preserved site. The views from the tower over the sea and the Snowdonia massif are breathtaking. At the entrance, there's a gift shop and a quick bar. It's worth purchasing a booklet about the castle's history with your ticket. Two hours ticket for car park is enough if you don't want to explore the local coffees and shops.
Michal P — Google review
A really well preserved castle with a lot to see. Parking outside is a little tight so would recommend parking in one of the other car parks and walking (5 mins max). Well worth a visit.
Lee W — Google review
Worth a visit, on a clear day you have lovely views. Friendly reception staff. Cafe you could sit inside or out. Coffee and scones ☕ I saw quite a few being demolished 😋. Information inside and out castle. Quite a few dogs being walked around inside and outside of castle. Children play area.
Teresa — Google review
Amazing castle, in good condition and with stunning views all around. Wonderfull walk on the walls on 3 sides and from the tallest tower. Best to book online, to get discounted entry, and it's good value for money. Cafe has amazing views from glass fronted modern room. Delicious Welsh rarebit.
David P — Google review
September 2025 The reputation of this castle did not disappoint. There's plenty to explore with lots of spiral stairs to climb leading to stunning views. The cafe and floating bridge give a smart and clean entrance. Parking is limited so perhaps think of parking down by the station and walking up. We arrived by the mainline railway that runs along the coastline. Even with the stairs there's still lots to see and do for a wheelchair user. There's also good signage to help explain the historical context.

Harlech Beach is a stunning stretch of uninterrupted coastline featuring grassy sand dunes and breathtaking views of the Snowdonia Mountains. Situated to the west of Snowdonia/Eryri National Park, this beach offers a perfect blend of natural beauty with the open sea on one side and the majestic slopes of Snowdonia on the other. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks with their furry friends during colder months or indulge in sunbathing and swimming when it's warmer.
Very nice beach with majestic views. Good for dog walking especially on cooler days as no need to worry about coming across too many other people or dogs if your dog doesn’t like either. The sand dunes are a bit difficult to get over but still worth it, especially if you get to catch sight of any dolphins in the distance.
Ekygur — Google review
I came here with friends and children for the day, the beach is very clean and well looked after, there is plenty of parking and it's reasonably priced.
Em B — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit, it wasn't too busy either. Parking is 5min walk away and does cost ( please note this machine is coins or app payments only) has a small loo block on the carpark ( not the best imo) but the sand dunes and beach make up for that.
Kirsty M — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous stretch of sand. Very secluded places too, if that’s what you’re looking for. Car parking close by and there’s also public toilets. There’s just so much room for everyone on this beach. One of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the UK. There’s also usually a nice cooling breeze.
Tom — Google review
Absolutely lovely beach with lovely dunes. The sand is very fine and soft to walk on. Best beach I’ve been to in the UK. Parking is very cheap. 100% recommend.
Lex B — Google review
Beautiful sand dunes and mountains in background. Car park and toilets. Nearest shop about 10 minute walk. We went in September- barely anyone there. Fabulous!

Absolutely beautiful, onlg downside is you have to walk a long way into the water to get to a spot deep enough to swim.

Caverns & Caves
Llanfair Slate Caverns is an exciting and educational destination for families, offering a variety of activities to learn about the history of slate, which dates back over 500 million years. Visitors can descend 500ft underground on Britain's steepest cable car during the Deep Mine tour. The experience provides insight into the challenging working conditions miners faced, with the opportunity to explore various caverns and informative boards.
A very informative visit. What a way to make a living - very harsh. Lots of information boards (in Welsh and English). Hard hats provided. Wear sensible shoes. Take a jacket with you, even on a warm day it's very chilly down there. Toilets on site, also a cafe. Cheddar cheese is stored in the cavern to mature, it's sold at the shop and we've found it sharp, tangy and delicious. A great trip out .
Chris A — Google review
Interesting place. The information boards were great, providing insight into the lives of miners. They also provided helpful directions on how to navigate the caverns. My only complaint is that it seemed a bit pricey for a self guided tour. If they cut a pound or two off admission I’d be totally happy.
The T — Google review
Well worth a visit for the whole family. Lots of steps down and uneven surfaces. Dark despite the lighting, quite chilly and a bit wet. But very informative boards and great to get the sense of scale, then consider the working conditions! You will need to wear a hard hat, these are provided. There is an old railway tunnel blocked to the public where Dragon cheese is matured.
Claire — Google review
Highly recommended place to visit your with family or friends. The Llanfair Slate Caverns offer a fascinating glimpse into what it was like to be inside a mine in the old days. It's quite chilly underground, but the caverns themselves are beautiful. Practicalities are well-handled, with free parking available and a small souvenir shop where you also purchase your tickets. Safety helmets are provided for the tour.
Achu R — Google review
A place worth seeing. It's hard for people today to imagine how physically demanding the work was back then, and how little luxury once existed. Before entering, you're given safety helmets, and I recommend wearing them. The sharp shale rocks won't be kind. It's worth taking children, but you should keep an eye on their safety. There's a ticket office and a souvenir shop at the entrance to the cavern. There's also a snack bar. I think tickets could be a bit cheaper. On the other hand, parking is free, so that might make up for it a bit.
Michal P — Google review
Wonderful place to visit especially with children. You can learn how the slate mining was done . How old the children were when they started mining. How the men would drill holes and pack with gun powder to blast the slate. Fantastic views and if your lucky enough to get sunny weather the views are incredible. Small gift shop and café with toilets. If you go to the children's farm just below the mines you get a ticket to give slate mine to get in at a discounted price. If you go expect to be there for half a day at least if you rush about.
Patrick B — Google review
Really great experience and the views from the car park were fabulous too! Free car parking and reasonably priced tickets for entry to the caves. Sound effects and boards explaining the different caverns made the experience fab and the staff in the ticket office/gift shop were super friendly and helpful.
Lucy T — Google review
It was heavily raining in Barmouth and by chance a cafe owner recommended I come here as it wasn’t affected, being underground. I must say I really enjoyed the mine! The info panels give so much insight into how hard the work was, and with so little light!!! A superb impromptu find, highly recommended.

Dolbadarn Castle is a 13th-century tower fort located in the picturesque Snowdonia mountains. It is often described as the solitary guardian of Snowdonia's Llanberis Pass, offering stunning countryside views. The castle was built by Llywelyn the Great to oversee the inland route from Caernarfon and played a crucial role in Anglo-Welsh conflicts.
Short walk up from the road, steep but manageable, climb the ruin at the top for some stunning views of the lake, a decent place to take some photos. There are also some interesting little paths to follow and a very quaint little stream that runs on down towards the lake.
Will M — Google review
Dolbadarn Castle is a fantastic little stop, and best of all , it’s free! The walk up from the car park is short but quite steep, so be prepared for a bit of a climb. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding Snowdonia mountains and lakes. There’s a helpful information board that explains the history, and you can even climb up the spiral staircase inside the tower. The top viewing area is caged for safety but still offers great views. We visited here as part of our day out riding the steam and diesel trains in Snowdonia, and it was definitely worth adding to the trip.
Yusra A — Google review
Awesome castle with a short but steep walk up from the car park near. Decent information board and you can get to the top viral a spiral staircase but caged top for safety.
ShineZ — Google review
Good views along the pass and towards Yr Wyddfa and the Dinorwig hydro electric station across the road. The steps of the spiral staircase in the tower are quite small so care is needed when going up and down.
Mal J — Google review
Short walk from ample parking, castle itself is free to enter too! lovely native castle in a scenic location, you can walk up the stairs to the top too!

I went there April. It was a great view at the top and breathtaking. It’s good to stay for a while and feel the fresh air.

Nestled in the picturesque setting of Llanberis, the National Slate Museum is a living museum housed in the former Victorian workshops of Dinorwig slate quarry. The museum offers an immersive experience into the history of slate mining through interactive activities, demonstrations, and original artifacts. Visitors can explore workers' cottages furnished in period decor from 1861 to 1969 and witness a huge working water wheel.
The place is very interesting. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, blacksmith, slate trimmer, guides, shop team all great. It's closing in a couple of weeks for a refurbishment. I'm sure it'll be even better when it reopens. Shop on site sells the usual attraction goodies, cafe sells cafe stuff. Little kids play area, some quarry cottages all dressed up inside. Lots of original artifacts, machines & history. Great place, get along and enjoy it.
Mark T — Google review
We went to the National Slate Museum having no idea what to expect thinking that it might be a boring little trip on a rainy day. However, we were thoroughly surprised to find this museum was a little gem. There was much to admire, firstly with the ease of accessibility to the facilities and each area of the museum was well presented and enjoyable to view. There were many interesting artifacts to observe and the history of the slate mining in the area was well documented. Our favourite parts were seeing the mining houses over time (it felt like stepping back in time) and the demonstration of the slate being cut, which was both illuminating and humerous. Definitely worth a visit, especially on a rainy day!
Flugette — Google review
It's Free! and you can spend a good few hours in it. You can donate in boxes and it is worth a donation. The area is beautiful as you are surrounded by the mountains and can easily make a great day out in the area. If you like outdoors, go for it on a nice day.
Matthew P — Google review
Great place to visit with plenty to do for up to 2 hours. Free entry was a big bonus, the museum is going to close for some essential refurb works so please check before travelling. Definitely recommend a visit.
Maulik B — Google review
A great place for everyone, especially the youngest, to see and understand the work people had to do and what the effects were. One of the largest slate quarry in the world, which was used by a large part of Europe. Thanks to the people working here, others had a roof over their heads. A lot of rooms showing various stages of production, devices and tools of those times. It is also worth seeing the lines of buildings from 1861 - 1901 - 1969 to compare living standards over a period of over 100 years. A great place for a trip of at least an hour.
Lucca T — Google review
An interesting place to visit! Entry is free which is always nice 😉 Lots of exhibits to look at, along with videos, plenty of history information and some practical demonstrations. The cottages at the end of the museum were a really nice touch, as was the viewing area for the water wheel.
Ian D — Google review
What a fabulous pace to visit parking is £5 for the day. Museum is free and it's fab so much history and things to do. It has a cafe on site a small playground and a gift shop. Outside 2 Minute walk across the way is the lake railway again with small cafe and shop. £10.50 adult return journey about hour total .. the views are spectacular out of this world. A lovely day out for families wheelchair friendly.
Rebecca S — Google review
If you visit North Wales, a trip to the Welsh Slate Museum is a must. They've turned a big industrial area into a wonderful free tourist attraction, that explains the landscape and cultural history very well. Based in the old workshops for the quarry, you get to see; a slate splitting and tile cutting demonstration, nice videos about the history of the industry, lots of wagons and info on the miners. They've also transported a short terrace of miners cottages, transporting each back to 1869, 1901 and 1969. It's fantastic and very thought provoking. There is so much to see and do, we missed our on the Quarry Hospital and only got to walk a short section of the fantastic signposted walks.

Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwyd is a picturesque forest gorge and waterfall located in the final section of the River Conwy. The waterfall drops 50ft into a deep pool, offering stunning views from tree-topped walking paths and viewing platforms. Accessible via a natural path through the woodland, the area features steep and uneven paths with handrails for support.
Really lovely walk, however it is steep and a little slippery after rainfall. Beautiful views all the way down. Cafe was nice too we had drinks but good looked good. Toilet available and parking for both. £2 for waterfall walk cash and card accepted.

£2 for ticket for trail It is an easy walk Wasnot crowded at all You get actual wilderness vibe. Silence of the woods with sound of rapidly moving water. Some trees having whole ecosystem on each branch. Mesmerising if you think about it. Viewpoints are well-fenced and has benches too. Autumn colors and fallen leaves made it picturesque.
Saba A — Google review
Found this place while trying to find somewhere nice to stop in the middle of our long drive. Big free car park with plenty of spaces and clean toilets. We paid £2 each to go through the gate to the waterfall walk and really enjoyed it. Circular mostly easy route of half a mile which took us 30 mins (with stopping for photos) Path not completely flat and some steps/hills but I wouldn't say it was challenging. When we finished the walk we went into the cafe upstairs which was also really nice. Good breakfast menu of different choices. We shared the Snowden breakfast which was basically 2 of everything. Massive and very good quality food. I also got an iced latte which was really really good. The man serving was really friendly and we really enjoyed our visit here. Would highly recommend it.
Sam S — Google review
Lovely place to visit and enjoy the rapid waters and Waterfalls quite an easy path to take to get to it but some bits can be challenging in wet weather well worth it once you get there and some lovely scenery around
Darrell D — Google review
Small car park that is on the right of the main road so the postcode is just about 1 turn out from where you have to park. However the water and river-falls are gorgeous and worth the short 20 min walk through the forest and cliffside. You can keep walking further up till it flattens out. There is also another entrance just 10 mins up the road with a lay-by for parking if you just wishto see the river without the small walk
Kunal D — Google review
Cowyn Falls is such an uncelebrated and under appreciated hidden gem compared to the ever-popular Swallow Falls — and that’s part of its charm. Tucked away in peaceful woodland, the trail winds gently through leafy, rocky and root strewn paths with nature sounds until you reach the beautiful cascade. It feels like stumbling across your own secret spot, away from the tourist crowds. There’s free parking right by the entrance, a cosy café serving drinks and light bites, and even a little ice cream hut for sunny-day treats. At just £2 per person, it’s fantastic value, but worth noting the path isn’t accessible for those with walking difficulties. Tranquil, photogenic, and refreshingly uncrowded — Cowyn Falls is a perfect addition to any North Wales adventure.
Tanya B — Google review
What a wonderful place to visit. Parking was free and it was £2 per person to visit the falls (payable by cash or card). We visited after a large amount of rain had fallen, and the river reminded me of a North American rapid with the water fiercely flowing down to the falls. The walk was really nice. It went through a wooded area and followed the river along to the falls. The scenery is very similar to Rogie Falls in Scotland, however, the rivers are definitely poles apart. Definitely worth a visit!!
Kevin R — Google review
Beautiful spot to visit! There is free parking right in front of Conwy Falls Café, and I definitely recommend grabbing a nice coffee and one of their delicious sandwiches before or after your walk. There is free toilet as well. It is just few minutes from the car park to the waterfall entrance. Entry is £2 per person and card payments are accepted. The walk is short and scenic—about 20 minutes round trip from entrance to exit.

Wow, what a night I had! This place is honestly amazing — I’d give it 12/10 if I could. The staff were super friendly and made me feel right at home. The food? Absolutely delicious, full of proper Thai flavour — just really, really good. The rooms were surprisingly detailed, had everything I needed, and were super comfy. The location is pretty cool too — right next to the second steepest street in the world, with a great view of the castle and the sea. If you're into planes, you’ll love the bar room — it’s packed with aviation stuff, which was such a nice touch. Can’t recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back! also ,to the staffs: thank you!

If you are staying here to hike or ride the Snowdon railway, it is about 2 minutes walk away from the Station platform and very close to the start of the trails. Highly recommend if you are coming to visit Snowdonia.

Great hotel. Amazing location a short walk to the Llanberis Route up Snowdon. The service was fine. Room was lovely and had amazing views. Only issue was the stain on the sofa which was a little off-putting.
Kim M — Google review
I stayed in the coach house and it had to be said the room was pretty average but it was clean and warm which was fine after a day on Snowdon. It just needs a littlenmore TLC there. But what I must say is that the restaurant food and the bar food was terrific. I mean really very good. But what stood out most was the service. What a great bunch of people. Every single person was friendly, every interaction was professional from bar staff to waiting staff and receptionist. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would definitely return to the Royal Victoria.

Having stayed here twice before. I was abit disappointed. The room was forever cold even with the heating turned up. Noticed if you were near the windows there was a draft from them. The walls were so thin you could hear everything next door and in the corridor. This meant being woken up all the time. Breakfast is usually very good. But this time the scrambled eggs were cold on first morning but OK on second. Overall. Nice and clean. Good location for walks. But not for romantic break

Y Branwen is a warm and welcoming hotel located in Harlech, overlooking the impressive Harlech Castle and near the Royal St. David's golf course in Snowdonia National Park. The family-run country hotel offers comfortable double bedrooms and a brasserie with homemade food prepared by experienced chefs. It is conveniently situated within walking distance of attractions such as Chwarel Hen Llanfair Slate Caverns and Harlech War Memorial.
The room was great for us - a good size and furnished well - older style and very clean, great en suite with excellent hot water, fabulous comfortable bed. The owners were very accommodating without being intrusive and we were made to feel very welcome as was our little dog. Breakfast was excellent. would have stayed another night but they were fully booked. The hotel is ideal for dog owners and there is a super walk within 100 yards across the golf course leading to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal for exploring the coastline.

We had absolutely superb meal. David a great host. It wasn't cheap but I do not begrudge paying as I would go back in a heartbeat. Kai and Storm were perfect, especially the latters singing. We're perfect around our slightly nervous dog. Seeing was spectacular. Walked the the hill after supper to enjoy a perfect sunset, really added to the dining experience. Wonderful start to our holiday.

The hotel is absolutely wonderful! You’ll be greeted by the most friendly and adorable huskies — it’s impossible not to fall in love 💖💖 The owner is very kind and welcoming, the room is spacious, and the breakfast is delightful. Our windows had a stunning view of the castle. Just about half a mile from the hotel, through the golf club, you’ll find a beautiful beach. I highly recommend this place — the views are simply breathtaking!

Franco, Kai and Storm were wonderful hosts. Extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. Perfectly located in-between the castle and beach. We could see a bit of the castle from our window! I would definitely be back if I was in the area again!

Had a lovely stay here. A filthy wet day - forgot the dog towel, another provided as soon as I asked. We enjoyed using the bar, had a lovely meal and a overall comfy stay. good location to walk the dog to the beach and having dogs around made it feel really homely. Likely to be back.

What a find! This has to be the most dog friendly hotel in Wales with the greatest host. Lovely comfortable stay, great breakfast, ample parking and accessible footpath to an empty beach. The hotel sits below Harlech Castle and we were greeted by two very sociable laid back huskies and their well behaved human. Absolutely 5 Star.

What a beautiful place! Super friendly staff, great food and service. The room was great too. Set in stunning surroundings, with Harlech castle in view. Cafe
I always enjoy visiting Y Maes Cafe after walking along the coastal path. The staff are extremely pleasant, the pastries are homemade, and the prices allow everyone to indulge in a cake and coffee without breaking the bank. Additionally, there is a convenient tap where you can refill your water bottle. The cafe offers parking and clean restrooms right outside its doors. The spicy chickpea and cauliflower pastry was delightful, as were the sausage rolls according to others.
Came here 3 times in a row it was so nice! A great little cafe right next to a nice beach. The ham, Brie and chutney toastie was so good! Little things like getting a top up of hot chocolate because the glass was half cream to begin with just makes it absolutely 5 star. Will definitely be returning on our next visit!
Stuart M — Google review
Such lovely owners and beautiful cakes! We popped in to have a coffee, but ended up with sausage rolls and cakes too. There were meat, vegan and vegetarian options of pastries. All the food was homemade with ingredients sourced from other local businesses - with gluten-free cakes available too. They ground their own coffee and it tasted great, these cakes were delicious. Can’t wait to come back soon!
Emma S — Google review
Maes Cafe is a fantastic spot for anyone who loves good coffee and homemade cakes. The coffee was rich, smooth, and perfectly made, while the cakes were fresh, indulgent, and full of flavour – you can tell they’re baked with care. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the cosy atmosphere made it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a treat. A real gem for coffee and cake lovers.

Lovely little cafe, hidden away down by the beach. Lovely pots of tea and beautiful cakes were had by myself and elderly parents. Very tempting selection of ice creams on offer too, something for a sunnier day. We'll definitely be visiting again.
Rich R — Google review
All we can say is a huge thank you to a very lovely gentleman at Mae's cafe today who came to our rescue. Our car battery was flat after we left the door open on the car park. We had already been to Maes and was treated to amazing homemade beef and vegetable pasties, cake, coffee and ice creams and service with a smile. Looks like a family business which is always lovely to see. After asking if anyone had some jump leads, without hesitation the gentleman at Mae's left the cafe and went to their home and collected jump leads and their car to help us boost our car. It's people like this that restore your faith in the human race. Thank you so much. From the reviews we have read we note there is some negative ones which is very sad when the owners are new. Supporting local independent businesses is key and when you get the extra mile too that is 5 star service in our books. If we can be anything in this world be kind and we were shown that today. Good luck, thank you and we will definitely be back again to visit.... hopefully without the flat battery next time.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Zip World Llechwedd, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Plas Brondanw Gardens. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Zip World Llechwedd is a popular tourist attraction that offers a variety of exciting activities. Visitors can explore an ancient rock quarry through underground mine tours, workshops, and history exhibits. The site also features on-site dining options for guests to enjoy. For those seeking more adventurous experiences, Bounce Below offers huge trampolines and nets set in a former slate mine.
We did 2 activities, Titan and Deep Mine experience, both were fabulous for different reasons. Titan gave an 8 year old the thrill and he loved every minute. The Deep Mine Tour was enjoyable and informative for 3 generations. Greg our guide, was friendly, engaging and catered for all ages, he was also showed patience and went at the slowest persons speed. The tour gave an insight on how the Mine used to be and the screen shows were particularly interesting. Greg was full of knowledge and willingly answered questions and included the group as much as possible. I would highly recommend going to Zip World as it caters for all ages and has something for everyone. Thanks again Greg for making our tour so enjoyable.

Super fun! Did both the deep mine tour (excellent guide even though it was a large group) and the Caverns. Just be sure to wear water proof clothing and good grip shoes. The deep tour was excellent and our guide was super informational. The caverns was not what I expected at all, very tough, very scary, such a thrill!!
Ar A — Google review
Recently visited here on my first solo holiday and booked to do the deep mine tour. Pre booked parking so getting in and parking was easy. There was a very long queue to get checked in but granted it was the summer holidays so this was to be expected. The lady that guided the tour was lovely (didn’t catch her name unfortunately but she had reddish hair) and even recommended a local walk for me to do after my visit to Zip World.. which I did and it was beautiful! Highly recommend.
Lacy W — Google review
We had so much fun, all the staff were amazing. First we did Titan and I had a little wobble but the team were brilliant, without making a fuss they reassured me and I am glad I did it. The next day we did the deep tour mine, I wish I’d got the tour guides name cause he was brilliant! (Longer hair, beard) we’ve done a few tours and he really knew his stuff and we both really enjoyed it. He didn’t rush me when I was taking a little longer to go down the stairs and chatted away with us throughout. Absolutely recommend any activities here and we can’t wait to come back and try something else. The soya decaf coffee was also amazing which as you can imagine isn’t always the case!

We went on the mine tour and we all came away very impressed. Very modern and effective tour with a mix of technology and knowledgeable tour guides. Much better than other mine tours we've been on where you listen to a device as you walk around.
Chris W — Google review
5 stars for the Titan zip line and underground golf. We went as a group and had such a great time. You do have to pay for parking now and most of the adventures are expensive but worth the adrenaline rush. Easy to travel to with amazing views all around of the mountains and the slate mine. Dogs welcome but they can't go down the mine or up to where the zip line is.
Sophie G — Google review
Amazing, adrenaline fuelled, friendly staff and beautiful scenery. Vending machine was asking £6 for an oasis drink plus 89p service charge! More reasonable prices at the cafe. Lots of space to picnic and onsite pizza restaurant. Not really enough staff to approach to ask random questions unless you queue up at the entry again. Memories made and all had a great day zip lining, with ages from 12 - 75 in our group of 8 people and deep cave exploration.

Gwydir Forest Park, located in the Conwy Valley within Snowdonia National Park, offers a serene natural setting with mountains and lakes. The park provides various outdoor activities such as hiking on marked trails, cycling through forest paths, and orienteering courses for testing map-reading skills. With 10 visitor sites spread throughout Snowdonia, the park caters to both walkers and mountain bikers with free or paid parking options.
Amazing walks and views, rarely busy, I face hardly see anyone. Forest track is nice and even and not to steep.

Went for a small walk up the Watkin Path last weekend, and it did not disappoint! The weather could have been better, but you can't have everything haha The views are amazing and the waterfalls even better. The waters crystal clear and looks so fresh, freezing cold but fresh. I would recommend going for a look if you're in thevarea.
Iwan R — Google review
This is the home of the Gwydir Mawr MTB trail. It is a "Red" trail which means that a relatively high level of skill and confidence is required. However, there are many miles of ordinary, non tarmacked tracks which are smooth enough to drive a car down- these are called "Fire tracks". They are used by the forestry vehicles and are very easy to cycle on. They are great for beginners, or those not looking for bumpy downhill thrills and spills but rather a lovely peaceful pedal through trees and lakes with no cars and rarely another person. These show up on Google Maps, and one can easily find ones way back to the car.

We did the red walk from the car park in Betws-y-Coed. Perfect length and difficulty for my 3 year old daughter. Lovely little walk along the boardwalk next to the river and a little bit around the forest. My daughter loved the information points and was always very excited to see the next one We also had a little picnic on the benches at the start of the walk and a little paddle in the river There are other walks of varying lengths and difficulty

Nice colourful gardens, but smaller than expected. Easily went round them in 1 hour, and that was at a gentle pace. Admission price of £7.50 seems a bit high. Good for a relaxing afternoon stop off though, as the house and the surrounding woods and tower are free

Amazing gardens and interesting house. The views are beautiful and it has a good cafe. It's really a hidden gem with few tourists and well worth the entrance fee

Visited with my family. The garden was lovely. Not massive but very well kept and beautiful views. The house is really worth a visit and actually free to go in. Well displayed art exhibitions. It has a v friendly and welcoming feel to the whole house. Chairs and sofas to sit on and plenty of books to read. Pleased that we discovered this place for a rainy morning. Enjoyed our lunch in the cafe especially the rarebit.

A series of framed gorgeous vistas punctuated with sculptures and views back to the house. Outdoor rooms and corridors that gently lead you with a sense of discovery between hedges and specimen plants into several hidden gardens. Mid-May the azaleas were vivid and I loved the simplicity of the fern lined avenue. The adventure continues on the southern side of the lane with paths leading up the hillside eventually reaching an amazing folly. With care you can climb three flights of stairs to a viewing deck from which you can see Moelwyn Mawr, Cnicht and Yr Wyddfa.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Snowdonia, The Brondanw Arms, also known as The Ring, is a historic Welsh-speaking village pub located within the famous Brondanw Estate in Portmerion. With its wood panelling, original beams, and cozy fireplace adorned with farm tools and old photos, this pub exudes a warm and homely atmosphere. It offers a picturesque beer garden overlooking a cow pen and a children's play area.
From my first contact to request booking a table to the moment we left - the staff here are extremely helpful. It's a real authentic proper pub. Inside the decor and atmosphere is very cosy and friendly. Beautiful pub. The location is stunning - vast views over looking the mountains. They have a small campsite and also allow campervan stop overs. Some camping websites state that the pub is closed but this isnt true. Very much open with a cold pint waiting for you. Large beer garden to rear. The food is traditional pub food but done extremely well. Highly highly recommend the home made scotch eggs. It rarely happens but Vegetarian wife was spoilt for choice. Lots of options for veggies and vegans. Not a pretentious or complex menu. Just proper food done really well. So glad we visited and will 100% be back.

Blaenau Takeaway is a hidden gem nestled in the slate hills, offering delicious and affordable food. The kebabs are particularly outstanding, with tender marinated chicken that's so good you'll want to save some for your dog. While the establishment may not be the fanciest and only accepts cash payments, the efficient and polite staff make up for it. It's recommended to order in person rather than by phone, but there's a nearby cash point if you need it.
Was either fish and chips or cinese or kebab After 3 walk bys it was a kebab and pizza Dont really like fries much but gave it a go 2 turkish gentlemen and a helper Nothing was a problem Best food ive had in 20 years and perfect in every way Best food ever from a take out Mint perfect all of it.

Excellent value and very tasty. Out of everywhere we tried in the village, this was our favourite. The kids loved the burgers and fries. The pizza was spot on, and the kebab did the trick. Staff were polite and very efficient. Food was ready quickly. I recommend you order in person, rather than by phone. Also, the place is cash only but there is a cash point a few doors down. So, if you need cash, order first and get cash while you wait. Edit: so we went back two years later. At the end of a long hike the food was very welcome. Staff were lovely to the kids. Food as good as ever.

Lovely place. Tidy rooms, comfortable bed, excellent shower. Views are amazing, good breakfast to start the day. Place is just on the outskirts of Bettws y Coed, only a 5 - 10 minute walk from a chippy, couple of pubs convenience stores, craft shops, and cafes.

Good value for the price. River with waterfalls runs on the other side of the road. Rooms are pretty quiet thanks for the double doors and windows. Staff is friendly and helpful (if you can find them:). Their restaurant is closed but breakfast is served every morning. All in all: recommended.

Interesting to read some of the reviews here. It’s really a case of unrealistic expectations. aid you’re looking for a hotel with great facilities, comfortable lounges and staff ready to respond to your every need- then this is not for you. If you want a comfy, clean, bed/bathroom and a good breakfast for the day ahead (in a truly great location) then it’s perfect. Staff are very friendly and it’s v.reasonable too!

The host was friendly and always happy and location were the only realistic things I liked about my stay at the red dragon. Location in a beautiful village I've visited many many times with a very short walk to pubs and restaurants. Bed was comfortable and large. Messy and dark reception, arriving and host not being aware of my booking. I didn't like the shower as it was extremely weak with little pressure. Bathroom very small, sink taps are placed terribly. Did not sleep well here due to an outside light, had to place blanket over the curtains which helped a little. Breakfast was nice, but basic.. no music and very awkward in a small dining room. Bathroom door did not use properly due to issue with door wood. Rooms very noisy at night, thin walls hearing neighbours and those walking up the metal staircase when they're returning to their room. Most disappointed at the price and getting very little in return. It's more like a motel than a hotel and you're paying for the location ONLY. Host called me once I had returned home asking for the room key, I said I'd left it on reception.. she then responded with no, it's not there. I replied, yes, input it on the reception desk when leaving... She then asked what room I was in and I responded with my room room, number. Host working alone so organisation lacking which was unfortunate.

The owner was a very nice lady, the location was very good however the conditions of the room made our vacation miserable. There was a very strong damp smell and feeling which made us not sleep all night. So please take this into consideration before booking the room. Cleanliness was not perfect, the shower was dirty, and the floors were stained. Also you could hear the other guests on the upper floor

Service was excellent, but it needs a lot of upgrading. The Chinese lady was so hospitable and helpful, she needs a medal. So much could be done with this quaint hotel. Disgracefully neglected, paint peeling off the skirting boards, door handle hanging off, plus the smell of dirty fat and a musty smell. Otherwise if upgraded it would make a beautiful place to stay.

Waterfalls
Located in a charming, wooded area in North Wales, Swallow Falls is a breathtaking waterfall with churning waters that can be reached by walking along a narrow and rocky footpath for 2.5 miles from the Tyn Llwyn car park in Gwydyr.
I've been in the blue ridge mountains the rocky mountains and the high searas. But these mountains and road ways are like nothing I have ever seen it's just beautifully majestic, passing through all the little pictures villages and cottages takes u back to another time and place. I could spend weeks maybe the rest of my life there it's just beautifully beyond words I wish every one could get a chance to see

Stunning waterfalls especially after rain. You enter through an automated turnstile which costs £2 and is card payment only as far as I know you can enter anytime. The car park is free but can get full at peak times an other option would be to go in the Swallow Falls Inn across the road and use there car park which is for customers only so have a drink or something to eat then quickly visit the falls after.

We stopped off at the Swallow Falls on our way home. It was over twenty-five years since we last visited, so long overdue! We paid the £2.00 entry fee and could believe the noise. We were visiting after Storm Amy has passed through so there was plenty of water flowing at great speed and volume. Since we last visited, more safety fencing and concrete steps have been laid, making it safe to climb down to the waters edge. Thankfully, we were wearing waterproofs so kept dry. We were able to walk down to the waters edge and to be so close to such a raging flow reminded me of standing under Niagara Falls in Canada. The noise was deafening and exciting. We stayed for about twenty minutes as we had a two hour journey home. The steps are steep with handrails for support so good footwear is advisable. A raincoat might be helpful depending on recent rainfall. There are no facilities but there is additional parking across the road at the Swallow Falls Hotel. To be fair, you might want to purchase a drink. We parked in the lay-by beside the Falls. From here, we drove into Betws-y-Coed and parked by the river. The bridge is narrow and visitors stand either side to view the small Falls.

A magnificent waterfall can be admired from several viewpoints behind the gate (£2). You can sit on a bench and let yourself be carried away. The walk is short, but the beauty will surely captivate you for a while.
Lucca T — Google review
Nice enough to stop past and have a look. We thought it was a longer walk to get there but actually you go through the turnstile gate (£2 per person, contactless payment available) and you are more or less there. They have however built a couple of viewing platforms accessed by stairs so overall we spent about 15minutes there. Small free parking lay-by in front of entrance, more parking (pay and display) belonging to hotel which is just across the road.
Will M — Google review
There are not many attractions in the uk that cost £2 to enjoy and can offer a glimpse of such raw power. Visit if possible after rain. Take your lunch as there is a seating area that very few seem to find. Steps with good hand rail access to lower platforms. Great views to appreciate at the different viewing areas. Allow 30min.
Andrew B — Google review
Really beautiful waterfall. Well worth the £2 entrance fee. Relatively easy walk down to the falls. The path and stairs are good. It is slightly steep but manageable even if you are unfit. There is a small free parking area near the falls, but it can get quite busy at times. It's definitely worth a visit.

Sights & Landmarks
In the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, stands the historic Pont-y-Pair Bridge. Dating back to the 1500s, this architectural gem offers stunning views of the River Conwy and its surroundings. Originally built for packhorses, it was later expanded to accommodate stagecoaches.
This area gets really busy at weekends during the summer. But when we last went it was late spring when the kids weren't off and it was quiet. You can get down to the river here and there's public toilets and picnic benches (there's only one other area in the town with picnic benches near the main green). You can follow the path up to Swallow falls which is about an hour's walk. But it's free from this side.
Mark M — Google review
Betws-y-Coed October 2025, the water is spectacular to watch flowing over the rocks, the views in the surrounding area amazing, there is so many shops and eating establishments to choose from. If you like hiking, mountain biking or just having a stroll alongside the river, this is a must visit for you.

Excellent walk along the bridge/Riverside. Can walk for around 30 minutes & cross a wooden bridge half way to cross to the other side of the bank. Or you can continue for 1hr 30 mins and follow the arrow sign posts that will eventually bring you out neat Swallow Waterfall. Both are lovely walks or you can just sit on one of the wooden benches & just enjoy looking at the river with the bridge just a stones throw into the little town.
Tracy — Google review
Scenic spot to stop and admire the bridge and river. Take care on the rocks but you can get closer to the bridge and take some nice photos. Look out for heron!
Will M — Google review
It's worth a walk upto the bridge and over the stones. 'Careful now', (quote for all us Father Ted fans). But if you can manage there is serious beauty to be found.

Specialty Museums
Located in the heart of Betws-y-Coed, the Conwy Valley Railway Museum offers a delightful experience for train enthusiasts and families. Visitors can enjoy an 8-minute ride on a miniature railway through beautiful grounds and explore a diverse collection of locomotives from different eras. The museum also features historical exhibits, including a 14th-century church and Thomas Telford's Waterloo Bridge nearby.
Visited here recently with family and friends and we all had a great time on the train, It is absolutely amazing that this is still being continued and it was nice to help the local business to keep going and give the public this amazing experience. Please visit here and enjoy the ride, the shop also has a lot of models to buy and many other gift options
Vikrant P — Google review
The miniature train ride is a fun little trip round the gardens, probably just about worth the £3 ticket. The museum on the other hand was a little disappointing. I'd have been a bit more upset had it been more than £2. It felt rather tired with displays that hadn't been updated for many years. Many of the model railways you were meant to operate were broken. A bit of TLC required to bring what was once a well loved attraction back upto scratch
Jimmy A — Google review
The miniature train ride is quite fun, our 3 and 6 year old kids definitely enjoyed it, and it does last just under 10 minutes as advertised. Can't say the museum was as good. The model displays are actually quite interesting, but clearly old and dusty. A few of the displays have buttons that should operate scenery or trains, but of the 12 or so buttons we found, only 3 actually worked, and the two that make trains move are just a single locomotive. The second half of the museum has a few interesting pieces, but is also a storage for older models that are clearly on sale.
Daniel L — Google review
Had the best time here a couple of weeks ago, great to see a miniature railways being preserved for people visiting to have a ride on. There’s also a lovely little shop if you’re wanting to buy any railways themed toys or products. The track is actually quite a long one with various aspects like a forest and bridges which make it less mundane compared to other railways. I’d 100% recommend it!

Lovely little ride to a great train museum and to have a little miniature train ride too then a little ride back to station with a nice shop and cafe...very friendly staff too
Jacqueline G — Google review
Great experience and a nice day out with family and friends. Especially the kids enjoyed a lot. There is a small toy train only two seater for kids which can be accessed for only £1 for two kids. There is a small cafe which has a variety of foods and drinks to offer. There is a shop which offers a variety of souvineers and collectables. There is a dedicated parking available just for the railway, which has ample spaces. Right across the railway is the high street which has numerous shops which offer plenty of food and beverages and ice creams etc. Nice experience overall.
Abhijeet R — Google review
This is a small museum with a few rail set ups. It is only £2 per adult but sadly, most of the set ups did not work when the buttons were pressed to activate them. If the set ups ran as stated it would be well worth a visit.

Visited in August 2019 on my Wales holiday. I spent a day in Betws-y-Coed and walked around to see as much as I can. The model shop or museum is next to the railway station, the entry ticket is a lovely old style paper ticket to let us behind the shop. It is very small, but definitely interesting and full with old models, built up whole villages and many of them is interactive with different buttons to push. Not just models but everything related to old fashioned railways and travels are pretty much can be found here, so it is a nostalgia journey. That time only me and a male visitor were in the room, but we both enjoyed to play around. There are toilets on site, and in the shop we can buy gifts. Cafe is in the station, parking is on the street, or one of the main car parks in the village.

Zip World Betws-y-Coed, located in the stunning woodland setting of North Wales Conwy Valley, offers a variety of thrilling adventures for the whole family. With six different activities to choose from, including the unique Fforest Coaster and Treetop Nets, there's something for everyone. Visitors can also experience the UK's only alpine coaster, zip lines high in the trees, and even take a tandem freefall jump or ride on Europe's highest giant swing.
What an experience this place is. It isn't cheap and it's frustrating that you have to pay a booking fee and also parking fees in the middle of nowhere! However, those 2 niggles aside, it is a stunning place in a forest with various things to do. We only went to do the forest coaster and it was just amazing! There are other activities to do such as tree tops, big swing and there is a cafe for food. There is also a small gift shop and toilets so you can attend without any worries! We took our own food so unsure what the cafe is like... Staff are also very pleasant and happy to help with anything. In terms of disabled access, there are designated parking spaces and everything is flat but, it is a forest on a hill so there is a slight incline in places plus the ground would be difficult for wheelchairs. If you have an electric vehicle, there are charging ports and spaces on the left as you enter :) Id definitely return! Enjoy!

A fun family day out. The forest coaster is the main attraction of course. Didn't wait more than 25 mins to get on. The scenic ride up to the top is almost better than the coaster itself. Lovely woods and an amazing thriss on the way down. Clean and well staffed. A great time for the family.
Hennie H — Google review
We came as a group of 20 and had an amazing time! The Fforest Coaster was brilliant – fast, full of twists, and way more exciting than I expected. The whole place has a great forest atmosphere and feels like a proper adventure spot. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even though there was a bit of a queue, everything ran smoothly. There’s plenty to do – we spotted people on the treetop ropes course, which looked like a lot of fun. The tipi bar seemed like a great place to relax too (shame it wasn’t open during our visit). It’s not the cheapest day out, but definitely worth the money. Highly recommend if you’re in the area – perfect for both kids and adults, and just a really fun day in the trees!

Zip World Betws-y-Coed is more than just a place for a single thrill ride; it's a full-day adventure park nestled in the stunning scenery of the Gwydir Forest. We visited with our family and were blown away by the variety of activities on offer, each one perfectly integrated into the beautiful woodland setting. The star of the show for us was the Fforest Coaster. It's truly a one-of-a-kind experience. You are pulled up a track slowly, which gives you plenty of time to take in the breathtaking forest views, before you get to control your own speed on the way down. The track twists and turns through the trees, giving you a real feeling of being on a thrilling alpine toboggan. Getting three rides with one ticket is fantastic, as it allows you to get more confident and go faster with each run. Beyond the coaster, we also spent time on the Treetop Nets, which is a surprisingly fun and energetic activity. Bouncing around on huge trampolines suspended high in the trees feels surreal and is a great way for both kids and adults to burn off some energy. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure everyone was safely kitted out and understood the instructions. The location itself is perfect. There's a cafe on-site for a well-deserved refuel, and the park is a short walk from Betws-y-Coed town centre if you want to explore more. Whether you're an adrenaline junkie or just looking for a unique family day out, Zip World Betws-y-Coed delivers on all fronts. It’s an unforgettable experience and a definite highlight of any trip to North Wales.

Came here last week. We did the safari and the coaster. Safari was OK my little lad got bored after an hour all of it was much the same and very fiddly. Also instructor told us to but one hand on top off the metal on the zip wire I really don't recommend this I pinched my skin on it and got a blister! Be very careful! Also the queuing system for the coaster was unbelievable! You have to que to get on it then once you get on it you have to get on and off another 3 times! Surely there could be a better system? I suspect they do this because after each go you get a ticket where you can purchase a video of your go (£8 each!) Overall it was OK but not my favourite zip world. got free parking online because I booked two activities but got charged a booking fee!! So Overpriced.

Fairy Glen is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, located within the Gwydir Forest. It's a secluded gorge and beauty spot along the Conwy River, offering enchanting views and picturesque surroundings. The hike to Fairy Glen is relatively manageable, with well-maintained paths and benches along the way for resting and taking in the stunning scenery. While some parts of the trail can be slippery and steep, it's generally accessible for most hikers.
A tranquil and quiet area to visit, the area has a small £1 admission fee via a gate, cash only in the box, once down there it can be very slippery so watch your step. Could have stayed there for hours listening to the water.

Fairy Glen – Peaceful and Atmospheric A beautiful, tucked-away spot with a quiet charm. The steps down are steep, so take care if it’s wet. Parking and entrance are paid via honesty boxes—bring coins and please contribute to help maintain the site. A lovely place for a short walk and a moment of calm.

An extremely beautiful stretch of river in a gorge with rocks and pools. Peaceful and tranquil. The paths are rough with tree roots and the path to the bottom is very steep stone steps that can be slippery when wet. Well worth it to go to the bottom for the tranquil experience. There is a car park near the entrance with an honesty box to pay.

Best to visit early as there is only a small car park which costs £1 plus £1 entry for an adult. You can do a circular walk which is just under 1 mile and easy going it can be slippery in wet weather so wear some decent walking shoes.

Lovely place to visit, very unlevel but that is the whole appeal, and in its natural state.. leading down to gorge there are some steps but sturdy shoes etc needed and would be very slippery if wet. Dry when I visited..would definitely come again🥰

Tucked away in this beautiful town surrounded by woods and mountains, this café truly stands out with what might be the widest selection I’ve ever seen. Over 100 types of tea, a full spread of food options—from traditional breakfasts to excellent vegan versions—and genuinely great coffee. It’s the kind of place that has something for everyone. The coffee was a real highlight: strong, smooth, and well-balanced. Despite the barista clearly being overwhelmed (I noticed she wasn’t even cleaning the portafilter between shots due to the nonstop demand), every cup still tasted amazing. Now, the only downside—and it’s a big one—is the ordering system. You have to queue up at the counter to order, while someone from your group holds a table, and on busy days it’s chaotic. We waited 40 minutes just to place our order. With staff clearly available to serve, I genuinely don’t understand why they don’t switch to table service—it would transform the experience. That said, once the food arrived, all was forgiven. It was fresh, hearty, and absolutely worth the wait. If you have the time and patience, this café is a gem—but be prepared for a bit of a marathon before you get to enjoy it.

Ordered 2 sausage rolls and coffees. Queue to order was so slow must have been 20 minutes waiting in line. It wasn't massively busy with a few tables free but the ordering system was frustrating to say the least with just one person on a machine making the drinks. Food came out very quickly once ordered but the sausage roll had been microwaved to warm it up and had gone hard. Lovely inside with lots of cool conservation themed sculptures and stuff in there. Just let down by the waiting times to actually get ordered.

We came here 4 years ago and had an excellent meal, revisited last night and had another excellent meal. The service was good, our waiter was really friendly and helpful for deciding on dishes, and both quality and quantity of food was spot on. We had a lovely evening , with calm music . We Visited this hotel recently and had Chicken Biryani and Chicken Kebab. All the items were served in large portions and were very tasty. They served extra-thick gravy with the biryani, and we absolutely loved the green chutney — no idea how they made it, but it was really good! There are no words to describe the excellent service we received. We met a charming staff member named iago — the way he handled customers was impressive. Overall, it was a lovely experience!🥰👍

Stayed here for a wedding in June. What a wedding venue!!!!! Fabulous The lovely staff couldn’t do enough for the wedding party and all the guests who stayed in the hotel. Food was lovely, breakfast was plentiful and staff were really lovely My room was spacious, bathroom was perfect, large walk in shower, comfy bed and fan supplied as no ac but this was absolutely fine. We didn’t have a view but also we didn’t need one, (although some rooms did) we were literally only in the room To sleep and shower as when we’re weren’t being wedding guests, we went for walks along the river and around the village which was so lovely. James and his staff were great, and the location is perfect for walkers, holiday makers and families. Zip world was around the corner so we will definitely come back and stay here again as we just didn’t have time to go. Food was affordable and lovely. Drinks were also affordable considering we were in a hotel. We will definitely go back, Loved this weekend stay.

But all the staff are great and really makes this place what it is. Our beloved cocker spaniel was fussed over constantly and even got a pot of chopped up sausage from the breakfast chef <3 this place is perfect for dogs, there is even a resident lovely dog called Ted who is often found getting fuss in the bar area! Superb location, lovely big rooms, delicious breakfast and great atmosphere. All the staff were really helpful, friendly and welcoming. The bar was very comfortable and nicely decorated. I'm looking forward to our return visit.

I had my wedding at the hotel. It is a stunning location in the heart of Betws. We booked out the entire hotel for the full weekend and had exceptional service. All rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was perfect, from afternoon tea on the Friday to breakfast in my room and the wedding breakfast and buffet and all meals in-between. A gorgeous family run hotel in a stunning location and getting married there was the best decision we made.

Well located hotel with very friendly service. We enjoyed the evening in the bar area. There was a good selection of food and a very good range of beers. We were unable to have breakfast as we took the ferry to Dublin early in the morning.

I stayed at Gwydyr Hotel the night before my wedding, as it was closer to our venue than the hour drive I would have had otherwise. It was absolutely the best decision I could have made. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Myself, my mother and my bridesmaids stayed here in the two family suites, which were the perfect amount of space and decorated lovely. We also brought along a lot of food with us, including fresh fruit to eat the next morning. The staff could not have been more accommodating by helping to store our fruit in their bar fridges, keeping it cool overnight. There was a lady on the front desk that was absolutely amazing, so helpful and accommodating. The same can be said for the lovely gentleman serving us at the bar and the waiting staff in the restaurant. The meal we had in the restaurant was incredible, such big portions for a really decent price. I wouldn’t hesitate to come and stay here again or recommend the hotel to anyone.

We went for Father’s Day Lunch and as we had a dog we chose to sit in the bar area choosing a table in the bay window so we could people watch! The hotel is lovely and the greeting from the manager was so warm and welcoming, all of the staff were very helpful. We both had the beef roasts which were large and very, very good. Freddie, our dog was made as welcome as we were and he enjoyed a cooked sausage. It was a first class experience which I highly recommend.

Very happy with hotel, staff were friendly and attentive at all time and the rooms/bar/restaurant were all well decorated and clean. We ate at the bar and in the restaurant and we were happy with all our meals. Great location for exploring the local countryside with plenty of walks direct from the village.

Caban-Y-Pair is a charming restaurant known for its delicious Neapolitan pizzas made with high-quality, homemade ingredients. Visitors have raved about the incredible taste of the pizzas and the care put into preparing them. The Carnivale pizza comes highly recommended, but other options like peperoni and buffalo are equally delightful. Despite being a cash-only establishment, it offers reasonably priced and varied menu items that keep customers coming back for more.
Fantastic little cafe. Great location with a car park just the other side of the river. Loved the Welsh Rarebit and scones. Bara brith and shortbread looked great too, think everything is homemade. Really friendly service and a nice atmosphere, highly recommended

We had amazing authentic Italian margherita! It was fresh and homemade! People who are Jain and want something without onion and garlic can come here if visiting Snowdonia!
