The Freiburg Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture located in the heart of Freiburg's old town. The cathedral features a square tower that offers panoramic views of the picturesque Black Forest.
The market was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, filled with lively stalls and an amazing variety of products. It was a pleasure just to walk around, surrounded by wonderful scents and the energy of a bustling market. What really stood out to me was the friendliness of the vendors – every interaction was warm and pleasant, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours exploring, tasting, and soaking up the local culture. Truly a must-visit!
Barak W — Google review
A large and very impressive place, with beautiful interior architecture. The main hall is stunning and worth the visit. However, the climb to the top is not particularly special. Once you reach the upper level, you can pay extra to go a bit higher, but it’s unnecessary and not worth the money. The stairs are narrow, making it extremely difficult to pass when people are coming in the opposite direction — the same problem on the way down. You can also see the bell up close, but be aware that the sound is deafening.
Yoav A — Google review
Freiburg Cathedral is absolutely beautiful, full of incredible details everywhere you look. The architecture is stunning. Every corner of the cathedral shows amazing craftsmanship. It’s truly a must-see! ✨
Jessica — Google review
It's free to visit no entry fee needed. Loved the tinted glasswork and the atmosphere. Very peaceful as other churches around. What catches the eye is the architecture. Worth a visit.
Siddhartha A — Google review
Cathedral’s history started being Romanesque church around 1200, transitioned to Gothic structure in 1250s (inspired by nearby Strasbourg cathedral) with West Tower being completed in 1330. While the city was heavily bombed in WW2, cathedral survived with minor damage (likely due to being notable landmark for Allied Bombers).
Mike Z — Google review
Beautiful red colored cathedral located on the edge of the Black Forest. It shines even in cloudy weather.
Paul H — Google review
Nice cathedral, beautiful Gothic architecture. It's obviously a very touristy place, but I think it's worth a visit. I've been there on a weekday but it was still crowded. It's obviously one of the most interesting places to visit in Freiburg.

A large open area near the cathedral, surrounded by many cafes and restaurants, and the nearby streets are full of clothing and cosmetics stores, and there's everything.

Located at Gerberau 46 in Freiburg, Germany, Feierling is a lively brewery complex that offers a delightful beer garden and a restaurant serving classic cuisine. Visitors can also enjoy guided tours of the brewery. The establishment is known for its organic juices, particularly the fresh Inselhopf which is exclusively available there. Guests can savor this unique beverage in the charming organic juice garden during the summer months.
The family and I spent the day in Freiburg im Breisgau, and came across this restaurant in town. The meal was exactly what we were looking for, and the service was fantastic. We had 2 small children with us, and they were very accommodating! Highly recommend the schnitzel w spaetzle!
Jeff M — Google review
I originally thought this was a place for dinner, but after looking at the menu and experiencing the atmosphere, it felt more like a bar. It was very noisy and not suitable for children. The smell of smoke was quite strong, and there were very few food options — it felt like we ended up having an all-sausage meal 😆
Yammi T — Google review
Fabulous Brewery Restaurant serving authentic German dishes. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Great and lively atmosphere. Their beer is so good. I have visited Freiburg 3 times and each time I came to Feierling to eat (and drink 😋) and I'll definitely come again!! It can get very busy so booking is recommended.
Darren K — Google review
Lina is the best waitress of all!! She was so kind and patient with us, non-German speakers! We tried their crafted beer, which was really good. Perfect place for family lunch.
Thais B — Google review
Amazing and fresh beer, fair prices. The menu is too simple, supposed to be served along the beer mostly. Nice place to drink and chat. Definitely a keeper
A.S. — Google review
Hard to rate as it is both the beer garden and the restaurant. Restaurant is closed over summer, beer garden closed over winter. The beer is brewed on site (other than the wheat beer) and is a lightly-hopped lager. Very quaffable. My tip as a local is to get the 2L growler. It costs 8 euros and is the best freaking deal in down. Take it away and drink it with your feet in the local Bächle.
Space F — Google review
Amazing brewery with great service. Honestly felt right at home, as good as any microbrewery we have in Michigan if I do say so myself. The staff was very patient with our pidgin-German and the male waiter (didn't catch his name) took great care of us, was very patient, even gave us some local history lessons! Great place to stop as an American tourist! Also in case it needs to be said, the beer was phenomenal!

Baden restaurant
Markthalle in Freiburg is a vibrant food market located just a few steps away from Martinstor. It offers a diverse culinary experience with options ranging from Italian, Middle Eastern, and Asian cuisines to French, Indian, Brazilian, and German specialties. Housed in the halls of a former printing press, this gastronomic hub features over 20 stalls resembling a culinary bazaar. In the evening, the atmosphere comes alive with live music at various bars and restaurants within the market.
I have come home from my travels over a week ago still thinking about the food from the Afghan food stall called Kabul. It felt like a warm hug from a grandma. I have only tried Afghan food once before when I was a child, so as soon as I saw the rice on display, it was like I was being drawn to it. I tried to use google translate but no luck so I just looked at the pictures and ordered the beef with rice and salad. It was so good I could fly back just to eat it again. It cost €14 for a plate and it’s a food hall so you just sit anywhere to eat. They had this amazingggg red chili sauce on the top of their counter which just elevated the dish. I was with friends and they got the Brazilian dish and they couldn’t finish their food because they said it was quite bland 😂 but ended up sharing my plate with me (even though I really didn’t want to share because it was so good) And then another friend of mine got the mixed bowl and they said the okra was really good. The servers spoke English and it was super quick service, very simple and although I was thinking I’d try some German food on my quick visit to the town, I will now always bang on about the Afghan food 😂
S A — Google review
A small food hall with good selection of cuisines, we ordered the German & Puerto Rico food, they were big portion and very flavorful. If you ran out of food options, come here and you will be happy you do.
Hong L — Google review
It’s not a regular food court! They have live DJ and cute disco ball on the weekend evening. But everyone needs to go to the asian food stall at the corner , close to the stage. I went there everyday along 3 days in Freiburg. As an Asian coming from Asia, i could tell that they serve really good quality of food and flavor bomb!
Angelia M — Google review
Dogs not allowed, saw the sign outside! Just walked inside to have a look alone but couldn’t buy anything. As I was in there during lunch time it was very busy. Lots of choices. Indian, Afghan, Badische, Spanish, Chinese etc. yes there were seating options. Pity, dogs were not permitted!
T. K — Google review
The Markthalle in Freiburg has something to suit every taste. I went for Afghan food and wasn’t disappointed. The prices were absolutely fair – overall Freiburg turned out to be surprisingly affordable. I’d definitely come back here on my next visit to Freiburg.

Nice place with different kind of food from the world 🌎. I tasted the Viet food pho and it was good enough. I appreciated more the ambiance than the food there. You can easily find tables and also discuss with other people if you want.

Nestled in a charming alley near the historic Martinstor, Martinsbräu is a modern brewery bar that has been delighting visitors since 1989. This brewpub offers an impressive selection of craft beers on tap, alongside hearty German fare like pork knuckle and schnitzel. If you find yourself at MarktHalle and nothing catches your eye, make your way to Martinsbräu for an authentic taste of Germany.
I loved this restaurant! The staff was friendly and the service was quick — we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The traditional dishes were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and cozy. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend it 🥰
Belén M — Google review
Ah, it's so nice to take a break at Martin's Bräu, especially when it's really cold outside. Although it's noisy, we're happy to sit down at a table and enjoy a good meal. It's perfect for recharging a bit before facing the cold outside. 😅 The service from the waitstaff is excellent. The menu prices are average, so there are no surprises. A true brewery atmosphere to discover.👌
Big D — Google review
Someone recommended me to eat here but what I got was not what I expected. The pork knuckle had a strong smell, the mashed potatoes were too cold and the service was unprofessional. We were treated coldly. I felt disappointed as a tourist who had traveled a long way to try German food. One time is enough

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited in Germany! The food? Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere? Truly unforgettable – warm, lively, and authentic. The beer? Simply outstanding – hands down the best I’ve ever had. And the service? Friendly, attentive, and just what every guest hopes for. A perfect experience all around!

Great brewery in de basement of the martkhalle. Service was good and fast. Also the beers and food tasted really good. The atmosphere was relaxed.

A great place to eat and drink local. Though the sign claimed that the place was full, my husband and I were sat at a large shared table. The food was really great and the service was quick and friendly. A decent price for what we received.

Everything you wish for when visiting a German brewhouse. Service was fast, professional and kind. Food was generous, high quality, tasty and not at all bland - simply spot on! The room was perfectly decorated with possibility to speak with one another, while the place was busy, and with a nice view of the kitchen, which had everything very much under control! Impressive
Vigga K — Google review
I spent a few days in Freigburg, and it was very lovely overall. I stumbled upon this restaurant as a recommendation from the local guitar shop owner, and so I came back for dinner two out of the four days, because despite a not so pleasant (rude) small interaction with a waitress on the first day, I managed to get in and was received by one of the most charismatic, kind, friendly and attentive waiters I have ever come across. I didn't get his name, but I know he speaks many languages and I complimented his service quality, and the second day he even called me 'maestro' which, yes, even though it might be used as a general term for addressing people, it's very flattering for a Spanish speaker. Anyway, he recommended the schnitzel (breaded pork chop) the first night, and it was to die for, and accompanied with the house beer, on a very hot day and after a day of physical activities, I was in heaven. The second day another excellent waiter served me and recommended the ribs, and so I ordered it along with, of course, more house beer. As a dessert I ordered the forest cake, and though not to my taste, I appreciated the craft and flavours behind it. Overall 5 stars, but I give 4 stars for service, for that one rude interaction, as for the people who took my food order both days were excellent. The ambience is very pleasant and very interesting, as they have two big tanks on display, where I assume the beer is brewed. The menu caters for meat and non-near eaters, and it's available in English. I discovered that generally the queue that forms outside the restaurant is for people wanting to sit outside, obviously in hot days/season, so you can skip it by requesting to sit downstairs where there was plenty of tables available on both days. (Visit 7-11 Aug)

Restaurant
Kuro Mori by Steffen Disch is a restaurant in the heart of Freiburg, offering a unique fusion of Asian and regional cuisine. Chef Steffen Disch, known for his expertise in both German and Asian cooking, presents a menu that creatively reinterprets traditional Asian dishes using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant features a business lunch option, evening dining experience, and operates as a bar until 1 am.
Loved the food and service at the place. We tried their appetizers and everything was perfect from the presentation to the flavour. For mains we tried their gyoza and short rib and it was nothing short of perfect again. Once again such flavourful food with great texture and presented oh so well. Their dessert - black forest cherries was to die for. The service was very friendly with good attention. The only complaint was the ambience - gets warm inside and the tables outside do not have chairs with back rest. Highly recommend the place. They delivered very well.
J S — Google review
Delicious and ambitious, a great night that was enjoyable but not fully perfect - as the black forest came short in the fusion. But what we ordered was mostly well executed and delicious, presented beautifully. Fantastic German wine list, including some excellent premium choices (VdP, GG, Erste Lage wines). Thank you
LMG Z — Google review
I was excited to come here. The place is beautiful and the staff is really friendly. The food not so much! The bread as appetizer was tasty, fresh warm sourdough. But the Bibiliskäs was bland and the Miso Butter also wasn’t pleasant. So I was excited for my veal dumplings on Broccoli with Shiitake mushrooms. But basically it was 3 frozen dumplings fried to death over two broccoli stems with one button of Shiitake. The sauce on top was ok. But for €26 I expected something fresh not frozen and fried. Unfortunately my phone died so I couldn’t take a picture of the dumplings. I might give it another try but yesterday was definitely disappointing.

Elegant fusion restaurant in the heart of Freiburg. We book a table in occasion of my 30th birthday on a Saturday, and unfortunately despite the reservation, we waited for 45 minutes at the restaurant’s bar. As starters we had the beef tartar, the wild crispy prawns and some delicious sourdough bread with miso butter. Then the schnitzel tonkatsu with a miso-hollandaise sauce and veal cheeks. Finally, we had their version of the Black Forest cherries. In general the food is prepared with care and awareness, the different tastes from the German and the Asian cuisine meet in a sweet spot. We particularly liked the miso-based sauces (e.g. their butter or the hollandaise), the way meat was cooked or fried (e.g. the veal cheeks were spot on) and in general the restaurant atmosphere, with their open kitchen. Cocktails were great too! Highly recommended!
Simona L — Google review
Excellent food, but the owner completely ruined the experience. We were a group of 16 people traveling together and chose Kuro Mori with great expectations. The food was truly excellent, and our waiter was friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the owner’s behavior overshadowed everything positive. She tried to charge us for four bottles of water that were never brought to the table, at €6 each. The bottles that were served were refilled in the restaurant, not mineral water, and some were brought without being ordered, which caused understandable confusion. There was also a misunderstanding with the wine: the glasses contained only 0.10 L, and we were told they would be refilled later. When the bill arrived, both pours were charged as separate glasses. Despite the disagreement, we offered to pay the full amount, but the owner reacted shouting, making a scene, and even refusing to take the payment. Such a pity, because the food and the waiter’s service were outstanding — but the owner showed a complete lack of manners and professionalism. We wouldn’t return and cannot recommend this place, especially considering the prices and the way we were treated.

My friend and I had a really nice night. We had the Twenü: 1 aperitif, 2 wines, 3 course dinner. The food was really nice, especially the vegetarian starter. We were helped by nice staff. We would come back ;).

The food was excellent. Full of taste and fresh. Their take on the black forest cake also really good.

Difficult review: has great potential and I will come back, but service was slow, some dishes really worth it some other (Japanese schnitzel) although realised with precision were not worth the price. Will go again and hope to increase stars

Delicious sausages in a bun or traditional Curry sausages in a cardboard tray with a bun on the side. We tried all the sausages and they were delicious and flavorful. Cafe
Kolben Kaffee is a charming café located in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. It's known for its delectable pastries, cakes, and filled baguettes that are all made in-house without any artificial additives. The café also takes pride in its high-quality coffee products, offering a wide variety of carefully crafted beverages using freshly roasted beans. The cozy interior is adorned with hessian coffee sacks, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.
I had the pleasure of enjoying an exquisite slice of Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte) at Kolben Kaffee Akademie, and it was truly a delightful experience. The layers were perfectly balanced – rich chocolate sponge, creamy vanilla filling, and a vibrant burst of tart cherries at the base. Topped with a generous swirl of whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a glistening cherry, every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. What made this experience even more special was the rich history behind this iconic cake. Originating from Germany’s Black Forest region, this dessert dates back to the early 20th century, with roots tied to the traditional use of Kirschwasser (cherry brandy), tart cherries, and dark chocolate – all symbolic of the region’s unique culinary culture. Each element of the cake pays homage to its heritage, from the chocolate shavings representing the dark Black Forest wood to the whipped cream symbolizing the snow-capped peaks of the region. The slice I enjoyed at Kolben Kaffee Akademie was a true testament to this legacy – fresh, moist, and indulgent without being overly sweet. It’s evident that great care and quality ingredients went into crafting this classic dessert. Beyond the cake, the café’s ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy setting that made the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a dessert enthusiast or simply craving a taste of culinary history paired with coffee, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

Literally one of the best bakeries, I have been to in Germany. It is pleasant surprise because it is not that usual in Germany to have bakeries pay real fine attention to the taste. They are usually treated as pitstops. But this had everything down to the dot.

The chocolate cake and the eclair were very good. Surprisingly, did not like the black forest cake. It was too much alchohol in my opinion. Also, would have preferred fresh cherry instead of cherry in gelatin. The sandwich was okaish.

I've been there a couple of evenings to enjoy the view and the cocktails, and I wasn't disappointed. The place can be crowded and the prices are premium for Freiburg, but I enjoyed both evenings I spent there. The service was welcoming and fast enough considering how busy the rooftop was. I think it's a perfect place to take a girl on a date! Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to try the restaurant, maybe next time. I still totally recommend the rooftop bar!

very beautiful view of freiburg cathedral!!! pina coloda tasted good. only thing was for some reason we weren’t allowed to eat any food that we ordered outside, so we only got drinks, which we had to carry up about 3 flights of stairs to the balcony. but other than that, they had nice music and seating.

Went there for some drinks and cake. We ordered the cheesecake—not the best I’ve had, but decent. Drinks were good, though nothing exceptional. The view, however, is absolutely stunning—worth visiting for that alone. The service was excellent: super friendly and attentive.

Although there was a perfect view here, my coffee and cake were served seperately. I should say that I had to ask for my cake. When the cake arrived, my coffee had already gone cold. I don’t know why the food should be servedat different times. Also, the cheese cake was fine, but not special.

The place have a great view of the city, and they have elevator. I find this place a bit expensive, but for the view I suppose is worth it. I recommend the terrace to take a drink with friends, and enjoy the view. The personnel was very kind, even though we order just water.

Zoo
Park
Mundenhof Tier Park, located in Freiburg im Breisgau, is Baden-Wurttemberg's largest animal park set on a historic estate dating back to the 9th century. This nature park spans over 38 hectares and features domestic animals from around the world. Established in 1968, it stands out as a non-profit enterprise that offers free entry and operates on donations.
We had a great time visiting. We arrived around 10am and left around 12pm. The place was very well maintained, and the only fee was for parking. They have a few playgrounds, a restaurant, an aquarium, and exotic animals.
Kaèy E — Google review
The parking only takes cash, which isn’t great at first, but as you walk around the mini zoo, you start to enjoy it.
M. S — Google review
Amazing park/zoo with a bunch of very fun places for kids to play and have fun. The only thing you have to pay for is parking (€5 if paid in cash and 10€ it paid via the machine at the parking lot). Ice cream and other snacks available on the spot. Can be a very fun day with family.
Samvel R — Google review
We had a wonderful time visiting this zoo park! There are so many animals to see, and the park is very spacious with plenty of room to walk around. The playground is perfect for kids, and it’s also well accessible for children and persons with disabilities, which made our visit even easier and more enjoyable. It’s a great spot for a family picnic surrounded by nature. Entrance was free, and parking cost €10 on the weekend and €5 during the week, which is very reasonable. They also have a small shop where you can buy drinks, ice cream, and even a special German pretzel – such a nice treat! A truly lovely place for families to spend the day.

Had a lovely walk around this animal reserve. Loads of room for the animals and they looked well kept. Had a nice beer 2/3 of the way around.

An amazing example of conservation and way to observe and protect animals in non-zoo settings. It's a great sanctuary for animals and for people to watch animals from far. There's no entry fee but they accept donations. There are some places to grab food, snacks, ice cream and drinks in the area as well.
Akash N — Google review
Nice farm kind zoo that is free to enter. You only pay 5 or 10€ to Park and support by this way the zoo. You won't find elephants or lions but it has many farm animals, birds, monkeys etc. Kids will love the visit and the animals seem to be well fed and live in spacious enclosures!

Even though it’s an artificial lake, it’s very beautiful and tranquil! The surroundings and the environment are all very nice. It was a mice summer day, there were a few people swimming in the lake, as well as ducks, fish and turtles. It is indeed a very busy lake😀. The view from the tower is wonderful. We walked around the lake and had a very nice evening.

A nice place for a picnic and swimming. It's also a good place taking a stroll or even running. The scenery is also good.

It’s a massive park around a Great Lake of Flückiger See, the lake is very clean, people enjoy sun bathing and relaxing while some other enjoy swimming, or even other water sports. It’s filled with sport activities around the park, you can find a restaurant, and toilets around this park. Ducks, geese, turtles and fishes are clearly visible. Benches all around so you can rest and enjoy the view. It’s easily accessible by public transportation.
MAnA M — Google review
Central Park? Nice try… but have you been to Seepark? Right next to the city center, yet it feels like another world. Sunsets over the lake, chilled beer in hand, friends on the grass, ducks doing their thing, pure Freiburg magic. Seepark isn’t just a park, it’s a lifestyle. Come once, stay for hours. Come twice, fall in love.
M. A — Google review
great place to chill and enjoy summer. it's like a paradise, where you will experience peace and joy with family and friends..here you can swim, have picnic, grill, dine in the resto, enjoy the view, play with ducks and tortoises, dive for aome people, sun bathing even naked, or even just read a book by the bench or by the green grasses...so many possibilities to enjoy here...best thing is that it's free..
Loona_t — Google review
I love this park. It's a great space to run around and/or do a workout at the outdoor gym and/or have a swim in the lake. There are also sports facilities like a 400m track, a soccer field and swimming baths adjacent to/within the park. There is also a rolling hills section when you can take your trail/mountain bike on. If it's your rest day, there are great spaces to just sit or lay and people-watch or bird-watch from the grassy lawns or the numerous towers. Groups of people come here to toss a ball around or play spikes all. Couples just doing romantic stuff like picnicking and watching the sunset are also common. There is a nice boardwalk that arcs over the lake which is also a great sundowner observation spot. You can lock a padlock on the balustrade for goodluck for your relationship haha. Sometimes you may also see some people rope swing from the boardwalk into the water. Pay close attention to the water life. You will find fish, birds and TURTLES. If you're hungry after your visit, there are shops a couple hundred meters from the park which are easy and quick to get to.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in a charming side street, Pizzeria Bellosguardo offers an inviting atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of Italian dining. With its spacious leafy terrace and cozy indoor seating, it's an ideal spot for enjoying classic pastas, pizzas, and antipasti. The restaurant features a daily lunch menu with vegetarian options to cater to diverse tastes. Guests appreciate the friendly and efficient service, ensuring that orders are taken promptly without long waits.
Amazing place for groups. Very friendly and diligent staff. And the food was so delicious that I could go back again and again to try all their menu card. The bistecca cacciatore was so tasty. And I do recommend to start with the antipasti and finish with the best Italian homemade desserts I have tried in years.

The pasta is very basic, salad drowns in salad sauce, pizzas have that disappointing consistency that's way too common across the continent. Service is fairly slow and waiters can be confused about how paying bills works.

Great gluten free pizza, staff is polite. They make their own dough for pizza, so it is a big plus. Many various pizzas to choose. You can order small or big soda.

An unlikely find in the suburbs of Freiberg, close to the Bischoffslinde Hotel and the Bischofskreuz tram stop. Very popular with locals, and usually very busy, with good atmosphere. Exceptional value for money - €39 for 2 pizzas, a bottle of red wine, side salad and 2 coffees, and very good quality the food was too. Service was prompt and helpful - thoroughly recommended.

The hotel offers modern rooms with balconies and free Wi-Fi, making it convenient for travelers. The rooms feature wooden furniture and private bathrooms. Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast and parking during their stay. The hotel also has a regional restaurant that serves delicious meals, including deer and venison ragout.
We stayed for 2 nights in the Bierhaeusle Hotel, check-in was automated, simple and efficient. The room was very clean, comfortable & quiet. The adjoining restaurant is family run and offers a substantial breakfast and authentic, delicious, wonderfully presented, good value evening meals. The hotel is perfectly located for hiking, cycling and sightseeing in the Black Forest region. Highly recommended!

We asked at the door if we could come in for a drink as it looked like a lovely venue. The lady at the front was very friendly and showed us through to the bar, where we were seated at a restaurant table. We then changed to an incredibly rude waitress, who was cold towards us from the start, and was very angry when we said we were only there for drinks. She also refused a tip when we tried to add service to the bill. We were made to feel very unwelcome - wish we hadn’t bothered!
Becki S — Google review
Everything about this hotel is as it should be. Rooms are functional and comfortable, although maybe a little old fashioned. Breakfast is good. Enough parking opportunities. Allowing smoking on the balconies means that it was necessary to sleep with a closed window and this should be reconsidered.
Brian M — Google review
If you are coming for the restaurant, spare it. They have way too many tables than they can handle and have you sitting for 2 hours!! Horrible waiting times and service! Made the food not worth the while what so ever!

The room was comfortable and clean. I love how everything was decorated for Christmas. The staff was so sweet and kind to our family. The food in the hotel restaurant was amazing . I would also give them 5 stars. I also love that this hotel is pet friendly. My 10 yr old Boxer also accompanied me on this trip and she was at ease in the room as well. German restaurant
Drexlers in Freiburg im Breisgau offers a blend of Italian and German cuisine served in a minimalist setting. The restaurant features creative plating and a wide selection of German wines, along with organic, healthy, vegan, and vegetarian dishes. With a focus on seasonal and fresh food, this culinary establishment is an offshoot of an established Freiburg wine shop, providing a modern bistro atmosphere with expertly curated wine offerings.
Absolutely delicious! Don’t need to say much. I loved every dish I had. Would happily come back over and over. 😋 Not to mention the really great service. Always so smiley
Laksmi C — Google review
We have had an amazing dining experience at Drexlers. We were surprised from amuse bouche until the dessert. We were super enthousiastic about the dishes. The granita from lavas that accompanied the perch was so innovative and smart! The cauliflower with yoghurt and matcha was also one of the favourites. We really loved the wine painting with unusual choices and classics from Sicily, the Loire Valley and Baden. This restaurant deserves to be full every evening!
Robbert B — Google review
Food was good, but underwhelming for the price. While good food takes time, 3.5h for a 5-course meal is excessive. Service was great otherwise.
Paul Z — Google review
What a superb meal I had at Drexlers. I now wish I had the 6 courses instead of just 4! A really unusual amuse bouche of broccoli and kiwi fruit. I know, I’m still not convinced either, but the broccoli elements were great, I just wasn’t sure what the kiwi fruit interloper was doing there. The first proper dish was the pumpkin, lentils, salad, prosciutto & beets. There were lots of lovely flavours of this plate. The lentils had a nice earthy savoury taste offset by the sweet pumpkin puree, cutting through the fatty prosciutto. The element that let it down was the sliced pumpkin pieces, which really tasted of not very much. Might have been better to have a larger chunk of pumpkin on the plate. The fish course was the star of this show. The piece of pikeperch was perfectly cooked and the light and herby bouillon of vegetables complimented it perfectly. Add in a little horseradish kick and uh um yummy. A palate cleanser midway through of gin & tonic granita with lemon zest and mint. Duck with cabbage & shiitake with a side of extra confit duck under some parsley foam (side dish not pictured). That duck breast was cooked to perfection, and was matched in its magnificence by that sticky deep jus. I feel the side dish part was not quite hitting the same heights, not that it stopped me from wolfing it down. A cheese course that is not pictured. And then onto the dessert. Chocolate tart with poached pear and whipped cream ice cream with a berry sorbet on top. Nice chocolate filling in the tart, and the poached peach was excellent. The whipped cream ice cream was a bit weak in flavour, but the sorbet did punch through. Overall it was a thumbs up. Some petit fours of cantucci and tower cake were both deliciously nutty. One crisp & crunchy, one soft & velvety. Definitely a wunderbar meal
Me L — Google review
It's a limited midweek menu but we couldn't resist going back for a second time the next day. I only wish that we could have tried the full tasting menu at the weekend. Fabulous food and drink and service at a competitive price.
Adrian T — Google review
Fancy place,a bit overpriced. They have menu only in German though the staff is more than willing to help with the translation. That atmosphere is a little bit pretentious. But overall the food was tasty and service was impeccable. Definitely recommend for long slow half voice conversations over glace of wine. Wouldn't advise for a cosy family dinner.
Irina A — Google review
Serving good quality food in a beautiful city. It's a little overpriced. I didn't find it overly pretentious at all, in fact it is lacking a little in ambiance of any kind - the red behind the bar is more like what you find in a bistro and some light background music might be something to introduce given that tables are quite close together. The Grauburgunder was a bit disappointing also. On the food side, the most important, the dessert was perfect, just incredibly delicious and we also really enjoyed the starter (a tartar), and the mains, swordfish and calf from the set menu (set menu costs 58 euro per person, or 45 euro if taking only one main -- portions are small-medium size. I recommend serving more squid with the swordfish though as it is mentioned on the menu card and I expected it to feature more. But overall, well done, just the ambiance lets the food down a bit.
Sinead W — Google review
Food was alright but notably worse than pre Covid. Service: staff was nice but extremely inexperienced. One had to take it with humor. Wait between main and desert was totally unacceptable (50 minutes). We started the 6 course menu at 7:30 pm and weren’t done until 11:40 pm.

Steinwasen Park, located in Oberried just 20 minutes from Freiburg, offers a variety of attractions for families. Visitors can enjoy observing over 30 different animal species and walking across the world's largest adventure rope bridge. The park features six different rides, including an outdoor toboggan run and a wild water ride. It's praised for being suitable for visitors of all ages, with activities that cater to both young children and older adults.
We visited Steinwasen Park as a family of four, and it was a fantastic day out! We went during a quieter time, so it wasn’t crowded, which made everything super relaxed. The rides are straightforward but really fun—perfect for our kids. We were pleasantly surprised by the basement ride, and the toboggan runs and train were unexpected highlights! Overall, it was a great experience, and the kids loved every minute. Highly recommend for a family day in the Black Forest!

A wonderful park! Perfect for young children, but not only. There are fun attractions for the whole family – mountain slides, large water tubes, a cable car, and more. There’s also an interactive laser tag setup. You’ll find a display of ancient crafts with life-sized dolls. There’s an indoor play area for toddlers on rainy days and an outdoor playground. The cafeteria has reasonable prices and there are plenty of seating areas. You can also bring your own food – it’s totally allowed. The kids had a great time!
Ayelet K — Google review
Great park for little kids. We went with our 4 year old and she had a blast. She could do almost all attractions. There was a spectacular suspension bridge and a more than decent indoor playground. You can also see lots of animals from the region.
Alex A — Google review
Park is good, but very limited options for children under 3 / 4 years old. The soft play area is good. Some rides say they're OK for under 12s if accompanied but an adult, but then a printed out sign says this is not the case. Good variety of animals. This was the saving grace. My son loved them. Restaurant food is mediocre. Park has steep paths, challenging with the push chair.
W B — Google review
This amusement park is an absolute gem for anyone seeking both excitement and relaxation. Nestled in the heart of nature, it offers breathtaking surroundings that make the whole experience even more enjoyable. The rides are thrilling and varied, whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or prefer something more family-friendly, there’s truly something for everyone. Each attraction feels well-maintained and safe, adding to the sense of fun without any worries. What really stood out to me was the hospitality of the staff. Every team member I encountered was welcoming, friendly, and eager to help, which created a warm and positive atmosphere throughout the park. The park itself is impressively clean and spacious, with plenty of room to walk around without feeling crowded. The natural scenery adds a refreshing touch, making it easy to take breaks and simply enjoy the views between rides. Overall, it’s a perfect blend of adventure, comfort, and beauty. Highly recommended for families, groups of friends, or anyone wanting a fun and memorable day out!

Steinwasen Park was such a pleasant surprise! The park is full of attractions – alpine slides, a cable car, an indoor roller coaster with speed control, another outdoor roller coaster, 4D movies, a restaurant, open spaces, wildlife, and so much more. We had an amazing time, and our child simply didn’t want to leave. A wonderful park, highly recommended!
Yoav A — Google review
Wow, what a cool park, great for children and all ages. The whole family enjoyed the park. You can spend half a day there with fun. There is a cable car, a roller coaster, and all kinds of other facilities, including 2 trains in the dark in an enclosed place. It's really fun. Parking is free. The only downside is that the entrance fee is a bit expensive.

Won’t rate the soccer game but the Stadium experience in general: Stadium: old school stadium with large standing area on both sides of the pitch. A bit unorganized when it comes down to the empty spaces but I enjoyed it there. Good mood! Food: I had a Bratwurst (2.80€) and a Brezel (1€). Brezel was regular and Bratwurst was delicious but the bun was damn dry. Hat to drown it in tomato sauce. As a vegetarian option they had also a sheep cheese sandwich. Drinks: a bit expensive and I think they could sell the water for less than 3.80€ for half a litre. Beer is okay with 4.20 especially considering that you might get the best beer in a German stadium with Tannenzäpfle!
Marcel C — Google review
Nice enough, old style ground, currywurst and beer, good atmosphere. Freiburg V RB Leipzig. Food was a bit meh, beer was not great, but was good to be in an old style stadium with stands that have seen better days. The atmosphere was good, fun and jovial, everyone in a good mood and with Freiburg getting the win all left with a hop in their step.

I am there for every home game of the "Sportclub". The service is good and the atmosphere in the stadium is excellent all the time. The stadium is easily reached by public transport. If you come by car you may have to calculate some time to find a parking spot since there is no extra parking area anywhere nearby.

With both indoor and outdoor seating, guests can enjoy their meal in the wood-paneled tavern or on the terrace. Came for dinner for 4 people. The staff were so nice to us all night. The menu is limited but everything we ordered was veeery tasty in a good portion. We took a salad, cordon bleu, salmon and a steak. So recommended!

Very nice little restaurant, nicely decorated, comfy seats. Staff and service was fast and kind. I ordered a large schnitzel and I got a little salad and potatoes with it. Old pictures of the menu are outdated! The prices are a little higher now. The food was good but not mind blowing special.

This is such a lovely place. The food is brilliant. I love that the waiter suggested that we had ordered too much (before sending it through). Love that. The Alsacian salad was lovely and the veal schnitzel was superb. The manager goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy. He makes suggestions and did something very kind for us! We highly recommend this place!

Amazing schnitzel and brügele with huge portions! We didn’t make a reservation but we we’re promptly seated while the restaurant was filling up quickly (around 7:30). The staff was also really nice to us (as English speakers) and made sure we enjoyed everything (the salad was also great - really fresh ingredients all around). I can’t recommend this place enough for a filling, traditional German dinner!

Great food , pretty sure you won’t leave here hungry .The place was humming on a Monday night , passed my decibel test for a lively place where people were in conversation.I don’t read German so I was getting busy with google translate when the owner came over and explained his menu in perfect English… far better . Beer was excellent, schnitzel huge , apple strudel tasted perfectly homemade.

Authentic Austrian Charm and Heartwarming Hospitality Gasthaus Goldener Anker is a true gem for anyone looking to experience traditional Austrian cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting. Located in a quiet, charming area, this gasthaus feels like a step back in time, in the best possible way. The rustic decor, wooden accents, and cozy atmosphere make it an ideal spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner. The menu features classic Austrian dishes made with care and authenticity. From hearty schnitzels to delicious dumplings and perfectly cooked meats, every plate is satisfying and full of flavor. Portions are generous, so come hungry! There’s also a nice selection of local beers and wines to pair with your meal. What really stands out, however, is the service. The staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate about making you feel at home. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they took the time to explain a few dishes we weren’t familiar with, a small gesture that made a big difference. Prices are fair, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Gasthaus Goldener Anker is a wonderful place to slow down, enjoy a traditional meal, and soak in a bit of Austrian hospitality. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful meal here during our stay in Freiburg. The gulasch, the schnitzel, everything tasted great. The portions are big so the amount of money we paid was absolutely correct! The staff was really nice and helped those in our group that did not speak any german. Thank you for enriching our experience in Freiburg!

Nestled in the heart of Freiburg im Breisgau, Weber's Weinstube is a delightful spot that invites you to indulge in regional delicacies within a cozy ambiance. This charming establishment serves up traditional German cuisine, ensuring there's something for every palate. Guests can enjoy an impressive selection of beers and wines, alongside tempting cocktails that add to the experience. As a beloved staple of Freiburg's dining scene, Weber's Weinstube exclusively features wines from the renowned Weber winery located in Ettenheim.
I love this place, the food is sooo delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I eventually dined here three times on the same week! I was visiting Freiburg for work, and every time i came, I was absolutely delighted with the quality of food and a warm welcome. The restaurant is super cozy, not too loud even on Saturday night (even though it was completely full). My favorite were tapas 🥰 out of all restaurants I tried in Freiburg, this is my favorite by far and the next time I visit, it’ll be the first one I’ll come back to!Thank you so much!!!

The ambience is very very nice and inviting, jazz music, amazing wine for every taste, food is absolutely delicious, it all melts directly in your mouth, you have to try the Tapas here. Service is very fast and the waiters are super friendly and communicative. A marvelous space to sit with friends and family, assisted with beautiful not too loud background jazz music. An absolute must for your visit to Freiburg!

We needed a late evening dinner because we were hungry. We were at our Dorint hotel just outside Freiburg and we ordered our food from there, asking for some local delicatessen, because the kitchen was about to close. They were very nice to accept our our and prepare the food, so when we arrived it was already to eat. We enjoyed a noodle soup with meat, a wonderful huge mixed salad with delicious dressing and a great local style Schnitzel, potatoes aside. Everything good at reasonable prices.

(+) Fine service by kind staff, fine wine offering, and a nice location and atmosphere. (-) Mega-downside is that the menu has virtually no vegetarian dishes. It’s all meat, meat, meat, and fish. Much room for improvement here.

Excelent food and great wine. Lovey place
Hugo N — Google review
Nice place, but the service is way too slow (although, at least, they were kind). We waited for 30 minutes for ordering a glass of wine although we were sitting in front of the counter, due to the highly misorganized work environment (e.g., nobody preparing the drinks, but each one taking orders, preparing drinks, bringing plates, etc). Hopefully they will get better in future, as the place is nice and with good wine
Mario M — Google review
The food is excellent; if you're into schnitzels this place is a must-go. Recently the service has been less than up to par though, which accounts for the so-so rating.

German restaurant
Greiffenegg-Schlössle offers a rich brunch buffet on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 2 pm, providing a pleasant atmosphere and an exceptional view over Freiburg. The ambience is described as fantastic, making it a must-visit spot. It's located above the rooftops of Freiburg, offering a place to unwind and enjoy either alone or with a group. The cafe and restaurant provide beautiful views, fresh homemade food, and attentive service.
A pleasant surprise... just out of the old town, slightly up the hill (don't worry, there's an elevator to bring you - and your "food baby" - down) with a splendid view in case you have a table at the window. The relaxed atmosphere (no large crowds here) and very friendly staff will make you immediately feel at ease. But the very best... is the food. Delicious! Definitely recommended!
Wim S — Google review
Absolutely top-notch experience across the board! The service was excellent — super friendly and clearly well-trained. Our server, Stefan, was especially great: attentive, kind, and professional. The food was delicious, and the portions were almost too generous for us to finish! We each had a starter and a main, then shared a dessert. Even the cappuccino and espresso at the end were really good. We sat outside with a direct view over Freiburg — just stunning (and yes we had a sun set). The restaurant is cozy without feeling cramped, so even when it’s full, the atmosphere stays relaxed and enjoyable above the city. Parking is easy in the nearby parking garage, just a 5-minute walk. Anyone visiting Freiburg should definitely stop by. They also have a lovely beer garden with smaller, local dishes — perfect for a more casual meal or smaller budget. Highly recommended!
Isabell W — Google review
The restaurant is on the side of a mountain, and you take two elevators to get there—both built inside the mountain! You go through a rough cave to reach this beautiful and well-designed place. The view from the terrace is absolutely spectacular. We visited on a rainy day, so we could not enjoy the outdoor seating with the famous sunset view over the city center. But inside was just as beautiful: spacious, beautiful, very clean, quiet, and not crowded. We wanted a calm place, and we found exactly that. They even seated us by the window, so we could still see the last bit of sunset between the rain. The food was delicious and portions were huge: delicious salmon with pea purée and white wine sauce, tender filet with forest mushrooms, and a fresh homemade salad. Everything was cooked perfectly and looked beautiful. My partner said it was the best steak he ever had, and he has tried many! The service was also excellent: staff was friendly, polite, professional, and spoke English. The design inside is eye-catching but not distracting. White tablecloths, shiny silverware, and elegant dishes made it feel very classy. For such a fancy place and such a great experience, the prices are very fair. Truly a top place to visit!

Amazing view, nice food quality and friendly staff in a historical 'home/castle', worth the price for such experience! Note: it's not so cozy atmosphere for me, more formal/ business meal style
Joanne L — Google review
Amazing location/view, kid unfriendly, service highly disappointing, food okay. We used to come here frequently since 2020, up until last year we really enjoyed our visits (always dinner). We’ve reserved a table ahead of time letting them know that there would be two little kids, and they wanted to give us a non-shaded table (very hot day, first people to make it there for dinner) since they haven’t been fully booked we were able to change to a too small table in the shade, high chairs only on request - disappointing. The food menu got reduced to one page only, while wine takes up several pages (great wine selection though). There was no 4 course meal offered, like we were used to. Those were always phenomenal. Now they serve fries with some of there main courses, it doesn’t feel like a fine dine anymore. Staff was more than disappointing, no eye for the detail, has no clue about the menu, even though there is not much food to remember (one page food menu), there wasn’t any presenting of the wine/wine tasting for approval, had to ask for utensils, service was feeling like at the brewery, not a fine dine restaurant. Not worth the money anymore.
Deborah G — Google review
Snails would be quicker than the wait staff. The prices are too high, 24euro for a small plate of spaghetti and 18 euro for two beers and a glass of wine. Better to go to the adjacent beer garden where there is a just as good view and the food and beer is cheaper.
Patrick H — Google review
Restaurant is located at the mountain and it has terrace with a nice view to the city from it. The food is also very nice - delicious and various. We liked castanea served with meet and a kumquat as a dessert. All meals were served in a buffet and we could take whatever we like.

We ran in out of a blustery, rainy afternoon, after taking a walk, and had a delightful quiet sit with cake and coffee. We were the only people there and I think they opened up a little early to give us somewhere to be out of the weather, which was very kind! Very friendly service and a beautiful atmosphere. Wish I could see it in summer - I'm sure it would be amazing.

German restaurant
Augustiner Im Bankepeter is a popular traditional gasthaus in Freiburg im Breisgau, serving hearty Baden cuisine since the 1930s. In 2002, it merged with Bankepeter to offer a diverse selection of sustainable and regional Baden specialties at affordable prices for the whole family. The restaurant provides an inviting atmosphere and a wide range of food and drinks, including German-European dishes, steaks, cocktails, and regional organic cuisine.
Everything we were hoping for from a German pub. We only had a short time in Freiburg and we were looking for a warm and cosy place that served good beer and, equally importantly, good traditional German food. Augustiner Im Bankepeter delivered everything we wanted, all at a great price too, and with fantastic service (we are English-speaking and it was no problem at all). We even took our dog. One of the most satisfying dining experiences we have had in a very long time - highly recommended.

Short answer: I would encourage others to look for a different place to eat. Long Review: The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The employees were friendly and respectful. The food, however, didn't really meet our standards. If we're going to pay 70€ for a meal for 2 people, we expect it to be incredibly tasty and filling. My husband's meat was not seasoned at all and my salad was swimming in so much vinegar that I couldn't finish it. It did what it needed to do - fill our bellies - but we won't be going back.

Got charged twice as the server said the payment didn’t go through, I’ve been trying for weeks to get a response for the management with no hope,

Amazing German food. I enjoyed my visit to Freiburg and my visit with my son and friends to try authentic local foods. Highly recommend the steak. Portions are huge. Staff friendly and welcoming.
Junaid H — Google review
Lovely authentic German pub/restaurant experience. Food lovely and prices fair enough in current climate. Staff lovely and cannot be faulted for care, manner and effort. The restaurant itself is very cosy and the perfect refuge to hide out a stormy evening in Freiburg. Docking one star as it felt understaffed and it was a good 90 mins from sitting until food on the table (tough when dining with kids, my wife and I just enjoyed the local beer and wines tho 😅). 100% not the fault of the staff who were fab and while clearly a bit stressed, were nothing but smiles when dealing with us and my rubbish German. Seems a few other reviews mention long waits, maybe the owners could put a few more staff on and it would be a 5 star venue?
Gary L — Google review
My medium steak was rather rare than medium. For a local with such a good reputation a bit weak. On other occasion I had Jägerschnitzel to go; the sauce was thin, the meat lacked seasoning, probably cooked in a rush, flavour hadn't had any chance to develop, I am happy to wait some extra time in exchange of better food. I cannot agree with all the good reviews.

What a beautiful view from this place. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. Customer service was excellent, with a very relaxed and extremely friendly approach. Spas
Vita Classica Therme in Bad-Krozingen, just a short train ride from Freiburg, is a luxurious wellness complex featuring both indoor and outdoor thermal pools with massage jets, as well as a whirlpool and sauna. The spa offers a dreamy setting inspired by ancient Rome. Despite some noise from children in the jacuzzi area, the facilities are state-of-the-art and affordably priced. The hygienic and impeccably clean environment is complemented by outstanding customer service.
We were staying in the connected hotel called Nouri which had convenient & free access to Vita Classica. There’s a bridge & special entrance for the hotel. Some might call the look dated but I like to view it as stepping into a vintage world. The place is state of the art, very handicap/senior friendly. We loved going from pool to pool with our 8 yo who knows how Swim very well. He loved the music room where music is played under water. There is a restaurant & a snack bar that stays open longer just to serve drinks. Hotel guest can pay by showing their room card. I also loved how respectful people were of not taking pics when there were other people. For improvement: - make sure people don’t use outside shoes/sandals. I saw quite a few women wearing PU sandals that looked very dirty & was obviously used outside

Well-maintained big wellness complex. I was recommended to spend my birthday here and it was a great choice. They have also cooperation with several hotels around so I enjoyed being there 3 days this week, with accommodation breakfast and massage, - and it was absolutely lovely experience. The diversity of possibilities inside will satisfy any demands (except of chronic complaints and those who live in the past). I spent two whole days between various pools and saunas and it was no boring minute, and I left with the feeling of total regeneration. Highly recommended.
Dancing M — Google review
Overall a standard spa, nothing too special. I had an ok time but not sure I’d rush back. Pros: A big facility, lots of options between saunas, thermal baths, pools. The food at the restaurant was fairly priced and tasted good. Cons: It was very overcrowded because of the holidays (I would recommend going when it’s less busy - pools were overrun and parking was a challenge. It felt a little cold inside the building and some of the hot pools could have been a little warmer, especially as it was really cold outside.
D F — Google review
We absolutely loved our visit to this outstanding thermal bath center. The warm, mineral-rich waters were both soothing and deeply relaxing — perfect for unwinding after a long day. You can enhance your experience by adding a sauna package, which takes relaxation to the next level. An added bonus? With your entry fee, you receive free public transportation tickets, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The nearby restaurants are excellent, offering a range of delicious options to complement your day of wellness. Nestled near Freiburg, Bad Krozingen is a hidden gem that’s totally worth discovering. The thermal water here is officially recognized by all major health insurers in Germany and France, so you know it’s the real deal. You can soak in it, drink it or inhale it.

If this is a Japanese garden I feel totally disappointed, it's a very little place that seemed its not so well maintain since long time and nobody care enough about even putting water and a fish pond... Freiburg has two surviving medieval city gates: Martinstor and Schwabentor, both originally part of the city's 13th-century fortifications. Martinstor, the older of the two, was significantly modified in the early 1900s with Neo-Gothic additions that gave it its current height and clock tower.

Customers praise the freshly made wraps filled with juicy meat and fresh veggies. The handmade wraps are a highlight along with the flavorful sauces. The generous portions and vegetarian options also receive positive feedback.
We ordered 2 wraps, one chicken and one beef. I am so surprised that the outside wrap is handmade right now when customer order. The skin is so good and inside are full of fresh veggie and juicy meat. I like the chicken more than beef, because chicken is more juicy. ( beef is crispy but too salty for me) the sauce is so awesome in the wrapper. It must be the highlight. For me chicken is 5 stars and beef is 4 stars. Strongly recommended to visit.

Hermann Café

Restaurant
Hermann Café is a trendy spot located conveniently next to the train station, offering a central location for a satisfying lunch. The café serves massive portions of omelets and offers gluten-free bread as well. It features high-quality dishes, delicious cakes, and coffee, with the added bonus of a summer rooftop bar. Visitors can enjoy waffles with chocolate sauce and roasted almonds while taking in the city view from the rooftop.
Hermann Cafe has ruined avocado toast for me. If is not Hermann’s I don’t want it! But seriously, the best avocado toast was the best I have ever had. The pickled vegetables were a delicious surprise, and they did not skimp on the avocado. The vibe and service in the café were wonderful. They accommodated my family with a baby in family style seating and the other patrons seemed unbothered. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly and food came out quick.

I have been here many times already, and it is time for a review:) I would say it is Freiburg signature branching place, the food is tasty and filling, the staff is very friendly and the location is so central :D If you want to have a brunch come early so you get a nice spot 😉

Outstanding café in Freiburg! I visited this place with my girlfriend for breakfast. The place was almost full but the staff still welcomed us warmly. The service was pretty fast and the food was very tasty. I can recommend it totally. 5/5

The food is lovely here, although the menu is a small one. The Flammkuchen are great - I definitely recommend the Dreisam. Service is incredible. Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn’t take reservations, meaning that there is often some wait to get a table. The volume in the restaurant is fairly loud, making it hard to talk, but the ambience is lovely with lots of fairy lights!

I stopped at Hermann Cafe in Freiburg for lunch and had an amazing experience! The rooftop cafe offers a stunning view of the city, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. I had a delicious vegetarian salad, and it was so refreshing to get some fresh veggies after eating a lot of unhealthy food. The limoncello spritz was a perfect accompaniment, and the gentle breeze added to the lovely atmosphere. The service was outstanding! Even though I don't speak German, the staff was incredibly kind and helped me navigate the menu and get connected to the WiFi. This place is a gem for anyone exploring the city, offering friendly service, great food, and beautiful views. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

One of my beloved coffe shop on freiburg..taking a sip while watching the black forest and the trainstation... It is accesible and quite spacious too. Priced are okay too.

The food was a delight - we had the shakshuka, the breakfast bowl and the Nutella pancakes. All were delicious and brought out quickly. We had great outdoor seating with an easy space to store luggage as we are on our way to the train station.

The view over Freiburg was definitely awesome! In general the food was good. The sandwiches looked great. Small improvements that I would suggest: - make the Croissant less dry - make the Pancakes flatter and not like 2 centimeters in thickness

Fine dining restaurant
Wolfshöhle is an elegant restaurant located in Freiburg im Breisgau, offering sophisticated 5-course menus made with seasonal ingredients. The chef and owner, Sascha Weiss, creates modern German cuisine in a stylish setting within a beautiful old building with green shutters. The restaurant provides an upscale dining experience with healthy dishes and a diverse drink selection. Guests can enjoy the option of a 5-course tasting menu or choose from the à la carte selection.
Great lunch on Saturday 27th May on a lovely street in the old town. We ordered a la carte and really enjoyed the food, wine and service! The hot potato with the menus at the start was funny too - "you speak English to them, no you, no you" 😅😅🤭 The langostino with the asparagus and the meat dishes were really really good. Total €290-

We had high expectations of this Michelin-star restaurant, but left feeling very disappointed by our experience. It just wasn’t worth it. The food was quite good, but the wine pairing did the opposite of enhance the flavors of dishes. The selected wines were off-putting and detracted greatly from the meal, with the exception of an unusual, slightly sweet, almost vegetal red dessert wine at the end. In retrospect, I wish we had ordered a la carte and selected our own wine(s) for our meal. At 250€ per person for the 5-course menu and wine pairing, I give Wolfshöhle 2 stars for price value, at least for our visit. You really need to offer a better experience for this kind of money. On a side note, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, even for a Wednesday night, which put a bit of a damper on the atmosphere.

Drove a whole hour to this restaurant and based on google maps it allegedly open only to find it closed on a “summer break”. Update your opening times if you want to keep people coming!

Wolfshohle is Michelin star dining in Freiburg. The cooking is superb. One of the starters involved raw, but warm salmon that was incredibly good. One picture shows a close up of fried sea bass in a spectacular bouillabaisse sauce with a tiny drop of mashed potato on it. The other photo is potato on top of a tiny perfectly cooked egg and a sauce. We ate here twice this trip. All the staff are friendly and the chef comes to say good bye as you leave. Highly recommended

We were happy to learn that Mr. Fauster had opened his own fine dining in Freiburg since we enjoyed on numerous occasions his dishes in the old "Königshof" in Munich. So, no questions asked, we went for dinner in Freiburg recently. The location was known to us and has not changed, which is a good thing. The dishes were excellent and the service was likewise. Only two things prevented me from giving 5 stars. 1. The Chef attended/served personally one, respectively two tables. The other tables/guests did not seem to be of interest to him. 2. We paid the not too small bill. When we left the premises there was no one to wish us a nice evening or even thank for the visit. It felt as if one left a McD. This is a pity but hopefully not the new standard.

Really great. I had the chefs choice 3 course meal and it was amazing. Beef tartare with mustard ice cream! I felt like an iron chef judge.

The reopening of the Wolfshoehle puts Freiburg back on the culinary map. Excellent food and service. The dining room is lovely but lacks AC which would have been a plus on the hot day (~100 degrees F) that I visited (book outside if you are used to climatized rooms). Overall a great experience!

Wonderful dining experience. The colorful carrots was very tasty. The char was wonderful. Highly recommend the Baden cherry dessert. The venison was tender. It was also a relaxed atmosphere. It's very close to the parking garage.
