Catholic cathedral
Catholic church
The Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg is a stunning Gothic edifice that dates back to the 1200s and features a remarkable 16th-century astronomical clock and a beautiful rose window. Its iconic 142-meter spire can be seen towering over the city's rooftops, making it an unmissable landmark.
I visited the cathedral on a schools trip and it was amazing. The fog on that day made the spire disappear into the clouds which was very cool. The inside was also beautiful, and the large clock was meant to have an animated show happen at 2:00 but it was a little disappointing, with the bell just ringing twice, and that was it. But everything else was spectacular. 👍

Strasbourg Cathedral is an awe-inspiring masterpiece of Gothic art. Its soaring spire and intricate facade leave you speechless before you even step inside. The stained glass glows with breathtaking color and detail. The atmosphere inside is both grand and deeply spiritual. A visit here is unforgettable—a true jewel of Europe.
Roberto S — Google review
Architectural wonders. I really surprised and wondered on this cathedral architecture. It amazing and look very nice. There is no entrance fee. But there is security and he will check your bags. Inside of the cathedral is also great. You will enjoy it. Everything about this cathedral is displayed on the screen inside the cathedral that really valuable. Not too crowded if you have patience you may get nice photos of the cathedral. In side there is clock and its make bell on specific time.
Jolly J — Google review
The overall experience is good but was busy. So many people always in the way. The history of it being built was very interesting. It's amazing that structures can remain in the same location basically untouched for such a long time. The clock in the back is a highlight that you don't see in any other churches.

The Strasbourg Cathedral is an absolute masterpiece of Gothic architecture and one of the most stunning landmarks in Europe. Its intricate stone façade, towering spire, and detailed sculptures leave you in awe from the moment you see it. Inside, the soaring nave, beautiful stained-glass windows, and the famous astronomical clock are simply breathtaking. You can climb to the top for a panoramic view of Strasbourg and the surrounding Alsace region — the climb is worth it, though there are sometimes long queues, especially on weekends and holidays. The cathedral is surrounded by charming squares and streets, making it a perfect spot to explore, take photos, and enjoy the city’s historic atmosphere. A must-visit for anyone in Strasbourg — whether you’re a history buff, architecture lover, or just looking for a spectacular view!
Niroshan — Google review
On a foggy morning in November we o pop aid a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg. We missed the morning opening time so we made sure we were standing in line for the afternoon opening hours. The queue, although long, moved quickly, and once inside we could see all of the stained glass windows and the mechanical clock in the far corner. We were there when the clock struck one o’clock - so not much movement on the animated figures at the top of the clock! The cathedral is worth a visit - even in winter!
Annette K — Google review
Strasbourg’s iconic cathedral is truly breathtaking. From the outside, you can admire the magnificence of Gothic architecture in every detail. The massive towers and finely carved stone decorations are mesmerizing. Once inside, the peaceful atmosphere immediately surrounds you; the colorful light filtering through the stained-glass windows gives the cathedral a mystical feeling. Climbing up the tower is a bit challenging, but the view makes it absolutely worth it. You can see the rooftops of the city, the Rhine River, and the Alsace landscape stretching far into the distance. The astronomical clock inside the cathedral is also a must-see – both historically and technically fascinating. Whether during the day or illuminated at night, the cathedral offers a unique beauty in every moment. It’s not only a religious site but also a cultural and historical treasure. Anyone visiting Strasbourg should definitely make time to see it
Erdi S — Google review
We came for the Luminous exhibition in the evening. It was very beautiful, colorful and joyful with the show and the music in the background also was so beautiful. If you come for the show better come at least 20 minutes early to pick up the good seat. Totally recommend the show !

Batorama

Cruise agency
Tour agency
Batorama, a popular boat tour company in Strasbourg, offers a relaxing cruise along the River Ill. The journey begins at the quay near Palais Rohan and takes about an hour to complete. Passengers will navigate through two locks and venture towards the European Quarter, passing through the historic Neustadt district known for its diverse architecture. For those interested in shopping for souvenirs, the area surrounding the cathedral is recommended.
We took the Batorama river trip in Strasbourg and it was truly wonderful. The boat ride was relaxed and comfortable, and it gave us such a beautiful view of the city from the water. Strasbourg looks even more magical when you see the bridges, old buildings, and Petite France from this angle. The audio guide was very helpful and explained the history in a simple and interesting way, without feeling boring. It was the perfect mix of sightseeing and learning. I definitely recommend this experience if you’re visiting Strasbourg. A lovely and memorable way to see Strasbourg.
Natalja S — Google review
The most logical thing to do to learn about the city. A very slow journey from Petite-France to the European Parliament. The problem is the lack of air and the smell. You put on your headphones and listen, but the language options are limited. If you know German, French and English, there is no problem. Even Japanese... But there is no Turkish?? There is no Greek either? I asked about this, it seems that the equipment is old and needs to be updated. So it is free for children up to 4 years old, 14.7 Euros for children and teenagers, 16 Euros for adults. It is very strange that the equipment cannot be renewed when the prices are so high... The price is expensive. Tour trains from there to the cathedral are more logical with their language options, reasonable prices and speed. A different experience, you will not get on it again.
Zeynep G — Google review
Very pleasant boat trip. Audio of tour was available via earphones in many languages. Good signposting and great communication. Bring a hat if the weather forecast is good. There was no cover on the boat!
Amanda G — Google review
Perfect for a low key sight seeing tour along the river. They use headphones with your choice of preferred languages with headphones. The narration is simplified with a lot of dead space. While it was marketed as a history tour it was lacking. Arrive early if busy.
Maria M — Google review
Great boat tour of Strasbourg! There is an audio guide included in loads of languages which very clear and interesting
Spookykira — Google review
One of the best ways to learn more about the city and explore it in a short time. 1.5 hrs ride is quite good. Overall experience was good. Make sure you buy tickets in advance. In rush hours, lines are longer, and the ticket system might function slowly. Experience was worth it.
Manjiri B — Google review
Enjoyed this just over an hour boat ride around Strasbourg. Went a lot further than expected and learned lots more about the place. Like doing boat rides as it literally gives you a different perspective on a city. Efficient affair. Hand in your ticket, get your bag checked by security, get your headphones, get on boat. Stay seated for the journey, get off and leave a tip if you care to.
Paula L — Google review
Definitely recommend this but check that you can access all 3 language options (1:French, 2: German, 3:English). Mine was stuck on no.1 which if I realised as soon as I sat down, I could have changed seats, but when they gave out headphones, it was too late to switch. You need to book in advance either online or there is a ticket booth near the dock. Great value for €15.70 for an hour and fifteen minute cruise with interesting facts on the audio. You go through two locks and right round the old town of Strasbourg. Get there a good 20-25minutes early at least, if you want to get a seat on the side of the boat. It started to rain and they handed everyone free ponchos. If you end up on a covered boat, it’s supposed to be air-conditioned.

The Alsatian Museum is a captivating collection housed in interconnected 16th- and 17th-century mansions, offering a glimpse into the history of Alsace. With over 5,000 artifacts and artworks, the museum paints a vivid picture of daily life in the region during the 18th and 19th centuries. Visitors can explore traditional clothing, homeware, tools, toys, furniture, religious artifacts across its 30 rooms.
A small exposition with interesting and simple descriptions in English German and French. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. There are a few souvenirs to buy at the shop store. the toilets are a mess but they have luggage deposit boxes. all in all a great visit
N K — Google review
An interesting museum that presents the way of life of the old inhabitants of the Alsace area. Hosted by a group of old, interconnected houses. Beautiful inner courtyard! You need approximately one hour to visit it.
Paul C — Google review
It is what I can call "a cozy museum." You would not like it if you are waiting for a huge museum with really old things and detailed information. It contains that, of course, but not to the extent of similar museums. Instead, and that is why I am giving it 5 stars, is the whole environment, it makes you feel like you are in a late medival house (till early moden) where you get to see how the people lived, and that is really cool
Ragui F — Google review
I visited this museum on the first Sunday of April—my second time here. Though it’s relatively small, the museum is thoughtfully curated, offering an engaging and informative look into the livelihood, beliefs, and culture of the Alsatian people from the 16th to 19th centuries.
EA — Google review
A wonderful experience! One can see how people in Elsass have lived throughout the years. One learns about history and visits one amazing house which has been turned to the museum.
Christina R — Google review
Such an interesting collection of exhibits in a beautifully restored building. The artifacts and scenes of daily life that have been reconstructed are well done and help to show what life was like in the area hundreds of years ago. The museum is right next to the river and only a few minutes walk from the other sites in old town. We arrived without tickets on a weekend and had no problem getting in immediately.

Place Kléber is Strasbourg's main square, offering a spacious pedestrian area lined with shops and cafes. The square hosts the famous Christkindelsmarik de Strasbourg Christmas market, featuring an impressive fir tree that marks the beginning of the festive season. This market is part of eleven markets spread across central Strasbourg, each with its own specialties but all offering ornaments, gifts, pottery, linens, foods, mulled wine, and the city's symbolic storks.
Such a beautiful part of Strasbourg worth a visit! I visited during the Spring. Beautiful floral blossoms were everywhere, the buildings are historic & stunning & so many adorable shops! I enjoyed exploring around taking photographs of the charming area & shopping.
Heather B — Google review
Christmas here is very festive. It is very crowded with people coming from all over the world. But the holiday/christmas feeling is still there. I think people are just minding their own business, each wanting to enjoy their own holiday, no nuisances.
Roan — Google review
With the Xmas market in full throttle, hard to get around but perfect atmosphere for any festive market. I hope the tradition continues for ages. We stayed on in an apartment opening to the square for a wholesome experience but found that our stairs to the parking lot was the universal toilet for emergencies.
Kawé C — Google review
Place Kléber is Strasbourg’s vibrant central square, named after General Kléber in 1840. Surrounded by cafés, shops, and the striking Aubette building, it’s fully pedestrian and alive with events, fountains, and seasonal highlights—like the towering Christmas tree. A perfect spot to soak in city life!

Galeries Lafayette Strasbourg is a one-stop shopping destination, offering a wide range of high-street and unique brands to suit every budget. The store's savvy buyers ensure that it stays on-trend, making it easy for shoppers to put together complete outfits without leaving the shop. For those seeking a conventional shopping experience, nearby options include Aubette at Place Kleber and other shops around the cathedral and Place Gutenberg.
The Christmas light display looks absolutely lovely, and it’s definitely worth pausing for a moment to enjoy it, even if you’re not planning to go inside
Marina M — Google review
The Galeries Lafayette department store is located along Rue du 22 Novembre near Place Kleber. The facade was attractively decorated during the Christmas holiday period when we passed by recently. Within, there are 4 or 5 floors of mid-range to luxury brand name retail and consumer products one expects of nicer department stores around Europe. It is a nice shopping venue for Strasbourg residents and visitors to the city.
Brad — Google review
visited the store in the early am and did not find anything to my liking. it had an old and beautiful staircase inside the building.
Shalli A — Google review
I recently visited Galeries Lafayette, located near Place Kléber, and it’s a beautifully curated, premium shopping destination right in the heart of Strasbourg. The store spans several floors filled with an impressive array of offerings—from stylish clothing and lingerie to makeup, watches, and even home electronics like lamps and lighting. Everything feels undeniably upscale and thoughtfully selected. And YES, BEAUTIFUL WIDE STAIRCASE, makes one remind of the Titanic. While the pricing leans toward the higher side, it aligns with the sophisticated, premium experience you receive. If you’re looking for luxury with a broad selection under one roof, this is a solid choice. The staff is welcoming and cordial.
Raj — Google review
It might be the Christmas-stress to buy all the gifts before the main day, but it's been pretty busy at this Strasbourg branch of the Lafayette, but still it remains an elegant department store with floors of merchandise to explore. The Christmas lights were fabulous!
The L — Google review
Nice shop with a lot of brands and goods. Staff could have a more customer oriented attitude. The staff for female Tommy Hilfiger jeans was really rude not willing to help to find the correct size (Saturday afternoon, 1st of Nov., a person wearing an orange suit). In addition, toilet access costs € 1.- without receipt or membership although you buy something later (couple of hundreds)...
Stéphane P — Google review
a nice shopping mall. There are many floors with many categories. I only go to the 1st and 2nd floors. There are many beautiful items with many designs. prices seem normal. Not too many offers. 5 stars because it makes me feel nice, clean and comfortable
Khai H — Google review
To be honest with you I expected more atmosphere like you get when you visit a flagship store. There’s a lot of glitz and glamour but only one small badly accessible lift for pram’s and wheelchair users. We wanted to use the restaurant but it was so lacking of atmosphere and friendliness that we decided to skip it. There is a lot of choice and the staff we encountered were friendly and proficient.

La Corde à Linge is a popular restaurant located in the heart of La Petite France in Strasbourg. Despite its touristy appearance, locals appreciate its large waterfront terrace and traditional Alsatian dishes such as spatzle. The restaurant offers a solid menu featuring Alsatian, French, and Continental cuisine. With a charming setting and the option to dine al fresco by the river Ill, it's an ideal spot for lunch or dinner while exploring Strasbourg.
I just had a great lunch experience here. The Alsatian pasta, Picon beer and the dessert were just delicious! What made my experience better is the really friendly waiter, Jerome. French waiters aren't known to be really friendly with great service, but Jerome changed that typical 'reputation' of French restaurant service. 😊 He's awesome!

Recently went there on my vacation in Strasbourg. No complains whatsoever. The service is entertaining and puts effort into learning different languages for the tourists. Food is perfect, I wish I could eat there weekly. I recommend going there at around 9-10 pm. It won’t be full like in the afternoon. It will be a comfortable atmosphere with a view on the river, nice service and really delicious food. Definitely recommend the Spaetzle, which basically everyone had on their plate, and definitely recommend the restaurant.
Laura K — Google review
A cool restaurant with seats outside with magnificent view of the Le Petit France. I was there at sunset and the scene was magical. The food is good with big portion, I cannot finish by myself so if you go by two and you can share. I paid 30€ for 1 main dish and a glass of wine, which I think is fair for the location. The staff is friendly and acommodating.
Nam V — Google review
The location is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and genuinely helpful. The place has a great atmosphere and beautiful views, which make it worth a visit. However, the food we tried was quite average and didn’t really match the overall setting. Considering the prices, the value for money could be better. I’d still recommend stopping by for a drink or to enjoy the view, but for a proper meal, you might find better options nearby.

Lucky enough to be passing on a Tuesday 13.30 pm . Straight on a lovely table in the shade of a large tree. Food was very good, pork with seasonal vegetables in sauce..see picture. Staff super friendly and helpful. Very good value for such a delicious meal. We tried to return that same evening but the wait to be seated queue was very long..though probably wish we had joined it :)

Maison Kammerzell is a 15th-century hotel and restaurant located in Strasbourg, known for its simple rooms with free Wi-Fi and traditional dining experience. The historical half-timbered building is a popular spot for photos and offers a chance to savor local culinary delights like choucroute with fish. Visitors can also indulge in shopping nearby, perhaps picking up some Welsche cheese from Maison Lorho.
What an wonderful dinning experience in Strasbourg. I went to visit Alsace because my great grandma is from there and it was a great experience. I had the 8 meat Choucroute and it was a delight. The coleslaw was very good. You can see all the German influence in this city. Quite historic as well, and the dish shows it. Great service, very friendly staff. Had a great time
Andrei W — Google review
The hotel is beautiful and historic and the service is attentive. However, the food is very mediocre; as a table we got the pork knuckle choucroute, sirloin steak, tartare and three desserts. The main dishes came out in less than 10 minutes and the taste reflected the quick prep, the steak was rubbery and hard to cut, the fries thin and crunchy, the pork knuckle had more fat than meat and the tartar was good but nothing special. In short, I'd say it's a place I'd come back for drinks but definitely not the food. The banana chocolate tart dessert was good.
Elizabeth M — Google review
The historical ambience of this restaurant is so interesting and enjoyable. Staff were reasonably attentive and professional but at times, distracted and frazzled in this busy restaurant. Food is tasty and presented well with generous portions.
Nan O — Google review
The place is absolutely beautiful inside, with charming little hidden corners to sit and relax. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality and presentation. The chicken dish was fantastic — tender and full of flavor, served with an incredible wine sauce and perfectly cooked spätzle. It all came together beautifully. I can definitely recommend this restaurant for a celebration dinner or any special occasion!
Szymon S — Google review
Don’t recommend. Both waiters were frazzled, got our orders mixed up the first time, so we sent back. Second time my steak was rare, not medium like I had ordered and my friends frites were dry and overcooked. We also had to ask for our steak knives, a shame that we didn’t get to try anything there apart from the bread and the wine (which I still had to pay for, even with the messed up orders and empty stomachs we left with).

This is one of the oldest restaurant in Strasbourg with a rich history and a must visit place if you're in strasbourg. We came here for our 10th year anniversary. There are alot of outdoor as well as indoor seats on 1st and 2nd floor. Overall the food is average, not super fantastic but not surprising given the amount of tourist that folk here. I ordered the beef fillet medium rare and it came medium well. So I didnt even finish the beef. The fish was ordered is decent. Service otherwise is prompt and they speak English well. No issues with other matters except a little disappointed with the food.

Le Stras' is a charming French restaurant located in the renowned Petite France district on rue des Dentelles. Despite its prime location, it offers a refreshing and contemporary French seasonal cuisine, with a limited yet promising selection of 3 fish and 3 meat dishes. Guests praise the superb quality of dishes such as foie gras on rhubarb, wild sea bass ceviche, and veal with creamy polenta at surprisingly reasonable prices.
The food was excellent, beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented. The flavor combinations were unique and truly a delight. While the wine and water were a bit on the pricey side, the overall experience was very enjoyable.

We had an amazing experience at Le Stras'. The location and ambiance of the small French Quarter were thoroughly romantic, and we couldn't keep a smile off our faces. The food matched the ambiance—sublime. We were extremely satisfied with every dish; perhaps only the dessert wasn't to my liking, but it didn't affect the overall experience. Our waitress, though not fluent in English, was attentive and did her best to offer suggestions and ensure we were happy. A must-visit when you are in Strasbourg.

Great lunch on the 18th November in Le Stra's. This is a great cosy restaurant in the very interesting, historical city center in Strasbourg. I took a three piece meal by selecting items from the Carte, while my partner took the pre-defined set menu - also with three pieces - for just 20 €. In both cases we were not disappointed. The pre-defined set menu is perhaps a little bit simpler than when you choose items on the Carte, but not by far at all. In any case you are getting very well prepared and special dishes. This 20€ menu is a tremendous value ! The items I chose on the Carte were also really nice and good. I did not regret paying more for it. I especially loved the first dish with snails, which was totally incredible. The "Tarte Pralin" dessert was also a master-class. The main dish as also very good and subtle. Nice cosy atmosphere inside, somewhat quirky in a positive way. The service was lovely, friendly and smily. We should come back !

I was pleasantly surprised — the food was truly delicious, and the fish in particular was outstanding! Although I’m usually a bit hesitant about restaurants located in very touristy areas, this one is absolutely worth a visit. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere. The waitress was extremely kind, and I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied.

Alsace restaurant
Located just outside the historic center, Restaurant Au Pont Corbeau offers a cozy and wood-paneled ambiance where guests can savor robust Alsatian cuisine and regional wines. The menu features a variety of dishes such as escargots, homemade goose foie gras, and grumbeerekiechle - tasty potato pancakes with crunchy smoked bacon. For those seeking vegetarian options, Pur etc is a great choice as their chefs work directly with local farmers.
Huge list of natural wine. Only 3 orange wine, by bottle only. Weekday lunch for only €19 is great value
Kent W — Google review
The place is really nice, despite a reservation we waited a bit. We took a bottle of wine, 2 main dishes and 6 escargots. Nothing to say, food was delicious and tasty. The ribs were extremely favoured, jambon was cooked perfectly, potatoes were tasty, and escargots were a very interesting discovery. Sadly, I didn't like the service at all: they served other people before us, when they came in much later. We ended up spending 2:30 hours in the place for this. Also, price is a bit on the high side for what you eat in my opinion: the wine is especially expensive, but also very good. Can't complain on the quality.

I came here for lunch on a Friday. I got the 2 course lunch deal (€19.90) and chose the cold courgette soup for starters and the fish option for the main. I didn’t have high hopes (I don’t particularly like cold food or fish, but the waitress recommended it so decided to give it a shot) but oh my gosh, the food was absolutely delicious!!! The soup was surprising flavourful (it was a hot day) and the fish was super addictive with the potato and salad 😍 Definitely worth giving it a try at lunch time, really good value! (Didn’t get any dessert as was way to full at this point)

Perfection. Make a reso- rightfully popular and crowded. Staff are so kind and passionate. So many beautiful wines to perfectly pair with your food. Gluten free possibilities if you need and helpful staff to guide you❤️

Our favourite restaurant in Strasbourg! They have truly the coolest patio that is semi indoors. It was such a fun setting. The staff were all so kind, and knowledgeable. From the wine recommendations to having fun jokes with the lovely waitress with the imagine dragons tattoo, this was the highlight of our trip. Food was great, wine great, everything great.

Authentic Alsatian restaurant. Great food, very nice local wine selection from the Alsace, recommended by a friendly sommelier. All of that for very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very nice. Bit small, but that’s ok. You do have too make a reservation. Even on Monday evening. Highly recommended.
Bart V — Google review
The restaurant has a homey cabin vibe to it. Food is very classic Alsatian, restaurant seemed to be filled mostly with locals or French people. Generous portions dishes more on the rustic side.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Strasbourg's historic district, L'Oignon offers a delightful culinary experience that transports you to the essence of French cuisine. With its charming ambiance characterized by stone walls and wooden beams, this restaurant is perfect for savoring classic dishes like French onion soup and beef tartare. Chef Thomas Gillibert crafts each dish with such finesse that you'll be captivated from your very first bite.
Wonderful, attentive service. The quality of the food is top. Presentation is beautiful. The love of details can be seen everywhere ! How the table is set up, the color of the plate compliments the dish and even the flowers on the wall of the house is lovingly done. Very impressive also that the young man serving us spoke several languages. He even served other guests in japanese language. Great place,we will be back.

Every visit to Strasbourg, we make sure that we dine here at least once for dinner. The quality of food definitely matches the price. Excellent price to value ratio! However, seafood options are limited. We usually go for the steak but the local chicken dish with mushroom sauce remains my favorite — simple but always executed to perfection. We also enjoy their cocktails, especially the seasonal ones. We will be back again and again when we visit the Le Petite France area of town! Highly recommended!

Feeling super lucky to have found this lovely little restaurant while looking for a place to try onion soup. We ordered the onion soup, tiger steak, and crème brûlée, and everything was absolutely delicious! We’d definitely come back here on our next trip to Strasbourg

the food was fantastic, from start to finish! (as a swabian, the homemade spätzle were great, can recommend~) the staff are absolutely lovely as well, and id be delighted to dine here again ❤️ (i actually cant believe i was able to eat 3 courses, but with that quality, its not like i had another choice...)
Vivian W — Google review
We had an amazing time at L’Oignon. The food was decadent and full of characters. Their Feuilleté d’escargots à la crème d’ail was the highlight of our meal. They really gave an interesting twist to the usual Caquelon d’escargots à l’alsacienne and we loved it! This is the kind of cuisine you savor over good company and wine (which they have a great selection of), and you are guaranteed to have the best time. Staffs are warm and attentive, the vibes are cozy, couldn’t asked for a better dining experience. Would really recommend anyone visiting Strasbourg to make a reservation here. I know I would always come back here whenever I’m in town.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this restaurant on a busy Friday. I had the two course special for 18 euro which was excellent value as both the quality and portion size was amazing. My husband had a wonderful french onion soup and the pork shank which was cooked perfectly. Only improvement needed is the wine selection as the wines by the glass were very average in quality. I woukd highly recommend this restaurant.

A wonderful experience! We ordered a lot Carpaccio, Onion Tart and French onion soup as starters. Braised pork shank and Cod as the mains. Plum Strudel for dessert We had a nice wine, and some plum and pear Schnapps with the dessert Service was friendly and excellent We couldn't be happier!!

I was here with my wife and kids (17 and 19) after a morning of exploring Petite France. We made a lunch reservation the day prior and it was probably necessary because the seating was close to filled. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly. We had the pork shank, tartare, prawn salad, and carpaccio. The creme brulee stood out for dessert. I felt the prices were modest for how delicious the food was. The experience exceeded our expectations. Thanks for a wonderful meal!

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Parc de l'Orangerie, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bains Municipaux de Strasbourg. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Parc de l'Orangerie is a charming park located in Strasbourg, dating back to the 17th century. Situated near the European Parliament and the Court of Human Rights, it boasts a rich history that dates back to the French Revolution. Originally home to 140 orange trees confiscated from Chateau de Bouxwiller, only three of these trees remain today and can be seen in the park's greenhouses on certain days.
A lovely park and formal gardens. Great to wander about and do bird spotting. Check out the huge nests on the building's chimneys! Just a short walk from EU parliament which makes it a great stopping point before walking down road to catch no.2 bus back towards the central station.

The park is beautiful and peaceful. There is a nice lake with ducks and a small white temple that looks very pretty. The grass is green and there are many trees for shade. It is a great place for a walk, a picnic, or to relax. The atmosphere is calm, and it is perfect for sunny days.

The Jardin Botanique de l'université de Strasbourg, located in the city center, is a historic botanical garden established in 1884. Spanning 8 acres, it features an impressive collection of over 6000 plant species, including a rich arboretum with 2200 trees and a tropical greenhouse. Despite not being near the main attractions of Strasbourg, this tranquil oasis offers visitors the chance to explore without large crowds.
It is free and something you should go to very nice and pretty to just walk around and see all the plants in the garden. Don’t miss the huge cactus and the tropical garden inside!

Area is under construction, so there is an alternate entrance. Free to enter and walk the grounds. It's a beautiful park like setting. Very peaceful.
Angela Z — Google review
I loved the quiet meditative walk through the green well kept and labeled plants. There are some areas closed off yet viewable. I enjoyed the tropical room with the range of foliage. It felt like a mini forest with huge leaves and some flowering greens. There are stone benches for rest and reflection. I noticed the greenhouse for desert 🏜 plants. Its quite a variety. Enjoy the peaceful contrast to a very busy crowded tourist visit. This is a welcome immersion in nature.

A small, free, but very rich botanical garden at the university. It is important to note that opening hours vary depending on the season. In November, it was open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. But I recommend visiting it, as there are also greenhouses there.

Hammam
The Bains Municipaux de Strasbourg offers a variety of experiences, from the Roman baths to the swimming pool. Visitors can enjoy the Hammam at Les Cent Ciels or try the unique Taaka Beer Spa. The facility has both old and newly renovated sections, with stylish Nordic pools and saunas in the modern area, while the old section boasts Roman pools in marble and traditional saunas.
The City Baths were on my list when visiting Strasbourg — a historical monument AND hydrotherapy? Sign me up! The architecture is stunning with a combination of marble, ceramic, and painted glass. Built between 1904 and 1908, and restored from 2018-2021, the building is home to a fitness centre, massage cabins, two swimming pools, and public showers. They also hold aquatics programming, yoga, cross training, and culinary classes! I visited the 7000 sq.m. wellness area that includes an amazing outdoor heated bath, garden, salt cave, saunas, jacuzzi, and snow shower, as well as Roman baths ranging from hot, warm, and cold (21°C) along with steam room, saunas, and cold showers (ranging from 15-45°C). It cost €24 to visit for the day (plus €5 for towel rental); I spent 3 hours relaxing here…I could have absolutely spent the entire day, but had to make sure I saw the rest of Strasbourg, too! It was mostly seniors when I was visited on Thursday morning (I wanted to be there for the aufguss towel waving ceremony in the sauna). Highly recommend this experience for any visitors to Strasbourg looking to recharge.

This swimming pool is very luxurious compared to other pools. Everything is very clean and well maintained. I really love the Nordic pool and the snow shower. It is a great place to relax and enjoy.

We are quite impressed with the building, facilities, and staff. There is something for everyone here. You can enjoy a spa service or a day of wellness with many saunas and pools-even a snow shower! They have group or private group cooking classes and a well equipped exercise room. And they will begin light food service soon. Both of my massages were amazing - Ella was fabulous! We also appreciate how clean everything is and are amazed with the building’s history and beauty.

I visited the Bains Municipaux in Strasbourg and really enjoyed it. Clean pools with different atmospheres, relaxing sauna, and beautiful classic architecture preserved throughout. A charming, well-maintained place worth visiting.

Love everything about it. The lobby, the change rooms, the swimming lanes, the design. It's really clean and beautiful. They even have little post cards with stunning art on them. Entry 6€ ist worth it. Just remember to take of your shoes in there before you go to the changing/locker room. And to take a shower befor you hop in a lane I guess there is a mandatory dress code but for men at least it's just the usual trunks. Thankfully no swimming hat mandatory. And you could mention, that the 2 showers that have curtains have especially cold water. It gets a bit warm if you wait but its cold still. Still 5 stars deserved.
Lorenz L — Google review
What a wonderful experience, if I could give more than 5 stars I would. My husband and I scheduled massages here to help ease the tension after several days spent walking around Paris and it was the best decision we could’ve made. We loved that our treatments included use of the pools and sauna either before or after the massage. We did a couples massage and spent our time afterwards relaxing in the saunas and the multiple pools inside and out. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful even though I speak very little French, I had absolutely no issues. We both said if we lived in the areas we’d definitely be regulars and would absolutely go back if we are so lucky to be in Strasbourg again. 100/10 if you are considering going I would absolutely recommend!
Jarie N — Google review
Really good bath and spa experience with lots to try. The building itself is really cool! Bring towels, swimwear / they said a two piece women's bikini is okay but if you're unsure, ask the front desk (looks like they spoke a little bit of English:) ) and body wash is provided by the showers. Lockers are also provided. Thank you for the lovely experience !

Brunch restaurant
Pour de Bon Strasbourg is a unique concept that offers a twist on traditional pastries by putting the spotlight on cheeses made onsite. The restaurant emphasizes homemade and local products, curated by manager Camille. On Sundays, visitors can enjoy cheeseboards, salads, seasonal sandwiches, French toast, and homemade yogurt from 10am to 3pm. The charming setting by the river provides a peaceful brunch experience with beautifully presented and delicious food.
After a long weekend of sights and sounds, this brunch was a quiet reprieve in a beautiful spot by the river. The food was beautifully presented and even better to eat. It is a traditional sweet brunch and you will not leave hungry. Service was perfect and kind- especially as I am only barely passable in French. I plan on returning next time I’m in Strasbourg! Oh- and there are chalkboards for kids to draw on and cute sheep everywhere. You can tell there’s passion for the fromagerie!

Lovely riverside spot with fantastic homemade cheeses and small plates. Totally charming space, eclectic and clever menu with loads of flavor. The fresh goats cheese and new Camembert are just two of the reasons we’ll be going back our next trip to Strasbourg.

A beautiful brunch experience with a lovely and dedicated owner/chef. Locally sourced with quality ingredients. Exquisite preparation and presentation, with surprising but delicious combinations of ingredients made freshly at the place’s own fromagerie. Great experience, highly recommended to anyone wanting to have a unique brunch.

We moved to Strasbourg in January and have struggled to find a tasty and healthy dinner at a reasonable price. Pour de Bon is the answer! The food is delicious and interesting, Camille is so sweet, and we always leave happy. Her menu is always changing, depending on the cheese she's made(!), and it's always a pleasure. Her food is authentic and has a modern understanding of health and balance (i.e. more than meat + potatoes)!

Haute French restaurant
Buerehiesel is a renowned restaurant located in a reconstructed 1800s farmhouse within the Orangerie park. The charming timbered house features a glass conservatory and offers an exquisite dining experience. Chef Eric Westermann showcases the freshest local specialties and seafood from Brittany, presenting dishes like free-range Alsace chicken with Vosges truffles and sautéed frog legs served with schniederspaetle.
We enjoyed a very relaxed meal here. Buerehiesel boast of a lovely setting, with a beautiful conservatory in the park. The menu was well presented and had a variety of classic and modern French dishes. The wine menu was extensive and complimented the food well. The dishes were beautifully presented and we enjoyed the frogs legs and the starters the most. The veal was slightly tough unfortunately. However the other dishes we tried were very well cooked and had great flavours. The service wasn't very attentive, and we had extremely long periods between courses. Fortunately, we weren't time pressured, so this wasn't as much of an issue as it could have been. I would definitely like to revisit and see what other delicious dishes Buerehiesel have to offer.

9/10 for the Rouget dish with vengole. 10/10 for the veal Lacaune dish with artichokes purée. Also 10/10 for the soufflé dessert “soufflé chaud à la pêche blanche et sorbet au thym”. 7/10 for the mille-feuille au chocolat with sorbet chocolate. Lacks freshness. However 10/10 for the starters savory Kugelhopf and micro flammkuchen. So kind careful and attentive service. We were here for dinner. It was my first Michelin star restaurant in France. So nice atmosphere outdoor on an evening of 32 degree summer day surrounded by the nice typical Alsatian architecture and the green all around. The Buerehiesel is an Alsatian house dating from 1607. Around 10 tables of 3 and 5 outdoor under lovely sunshades. Very romantic atmosphere. For the record, the building was brought piece by piece to the park on the occasion of the International Industrial Exhibition of 1895. Her vegetable garden and gazebo came with her. This year marks the year when Strasbourg hosted the international event in the Orangerie Park. Pity it was too gloomy at the tables on the terrace. If you want to see what is on your plate and the nice colors of the dishes and the desserts prefer to book a table inside. Lovely and luminous inside.

Food was great and got much better as the courses went on. The lamb dish on the tasting menu, very creative! My partner enjoyed the frogs legs and sweetbreads. The service was half and half. Some of the staff very attentive others (the younger ones) walking around looking confused. At first we were sat in a hot, stuffy room that was not at all reflective of the pictures we’d seen so be sure to request the Orangerie specifically, as the atmosphere is entirely different in there.

The decoration and ambiance of this restaurant are outstanding. The food is not fancy but excellent comparable to Paris and San Sebastian. We love the scallops and frog legs. The service is not as poor as other reviewers have noted. We were there on a Sunday evening, three nights before Christmas, and the restaurant was full. I will recommend to visitors to Strasbourg.
F. P — Google review
I went here with my parents and husband for his birthday and we had a wonderful experience. Two of us do not eat seafood so we had to forgo the tasting menu and order a la carte. We ordered 6 dishes total. The a la carte menu was in English and the staff and Somalier were very helpful. The little complementary dishes between meals were so fun. All of our dishes were great. I am personally not a big meat fan so the sides were my favorite. The caramelized sauerkraut (veal dish) was divine. The most memorable dish was actually the apple dessert. I will think back to that often!! In hindsight, I would have requested a table by the floor to ceiling windows if possible. I would have liked a bit warmer lighting and soft music, but as this is my personal preference I will leave 5 stars. Overall I recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in Strausbourgh. Go for the artichokes and the apple for dessert! :))

Unforgettable Culinary Experience at Buerehiesel Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Buerehiesel, and I can only say: it was a perfect evening! From the warm welcome to the last bite, everything was top-notch. The ambiance is warm and inviting, a beautiful combination of elegance and coziness. You feel comfortable right away, and the service was absolutely first-class – attentive without being intrusive. Every wish was practically anticipated. However, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. The dishes were creative, beautifully presented, and simply tasted sensational. You can tell that there is passion and meticulous attention to detail in every dish. The combination of regional ingredients and innovative preparation methods truly impressed me. A special mention also goes to the wine list – the selection is excellent, and the staff's recommendations were perfectly paired with our menu. Buerehiesel is an absolute hidden gem and highly recommended. For anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary experience, this restaurant is a must!

Hamburger restaurant
This hamburger restaurant is a must-try for anyone visiting Strasbourg or Illkirch. The burgers are made with fresh, natural ingredients and are absolutely delicious. The fries and cakes are also great, but the new ice cream is truly unique.
Apart from being delicious they provided me with friendly, fast, and great service. They accidently forgot to put ranch on my burger and when I told them they made me a new one with fresh new fries. Loved my experience here!

A nice, small burger restaurant with a good range of original burgers. The kraken (with brie and mango chutney) is delicious! Friendly staff and fairly quick service. The homemade ketchup is tasty but was very cold. Definitely a place to try.
Lydia B — Google review
The food was pretty good and filling, the people were super nice and the place is really well decorated. My only complaint are that is that I feel they should be more generous with the sauces in general. We could barely taste the sauce inside the burger and also felt that the ketchup that is served with the fries was far too little.

Perfect. As a person who visits this restaurant often, I can just say that this is next level quality. The taste is natural and perfectly balanced with every burger I tasted in the restaurant. The quality of the meat is extraordinary 🤩 French fries are always fresh and natural in combination with a ranch sauce 💯 got me every time😋 I tried all of the cakes,  and they are simple and they taste amazing. The new ice-cream is....I don't have a word to describe it enough.  . I highly recommend it all! 🙏

The food arrived promptly and was delicious, I had the Perfide and my partner the Magistrat - both with fries which proved to be a great choice since they were so good! Will definitely be visiting again on our next time in France after such a positive experience :)

Awesome burgers, with original recipes. Great fries, good beers, reasonable prices. We always go early, and the service has always been just fine. The area is not very trendy, and is close to the city center, and it's a nice change of pace

Not the best burger in town. The service is nice, welcoming. The burgers are not very appealing but they are fine burgers, just not great. I wouldn't say that a menu is filling - especially for its price.

Organic restaurant
Vélicious is a charming vegan restaurant and café that offers a cozy dining room and a relaxed patio for guests to enjoy plant-based dishes and desserts. The menu features organic, plant-based cuisine, including a tempting vegan cheese platter with three varieties of cheese, bread, and fig chutney. One must-try dish is the Middle Eastern wrap with seitan, chickpeas, mint, lemon zest, and cream served with a fresh green salad.
Had to stop in on our visit to Strasbourg to this vegan place - ended up getting a "ham and cheese" sandwich and fruit pastry to go. I haven't had any meat sandwiches in a long time, and this tasted just like a ham and cheese - but better! I thought the sandwich would be dry - but it wasn't - it had a perfect amount of dressing with a hint of mustard - and the pickle on the sandwich was perfect. Very friendly service and even spoke English! We wish we lived here and we would visit often!

The desserts are the best! Totally worth a visit for them. We also enjoyed the cheese platter to share (we suggest max 2/3 people because the portion is small). Main courses are good but a bit pricey as they are good but not as special. Service is really nice and welcoming!
Michela S — Google review
We have ordered curry soup, mac & cheese and musaka. The service was good and fast. The soup was very good, the mac & cheese was OK as well as the musaka. It is great that such restaurants exist but I feel like they do not make much efort in preparing really good food. It is perhaps due to the lack of competition?! We are vegetarians for tens of years and definitely can prepare better food than that. Overall it was OK but I was not impressed.

This place is amazing. The food is good but the desserts are the best. The service were fast and friendly and the place was nice and clean. I will repeat for sure if I go again to Strasburg. Even if it is only for a coffee and cake. They all looked delicious.

One of the best vegan places you can find here in Strasbourg! The staff is very friendly, the food is amazing, especially the desserts. Go there and you sure will have a fantastic and delicious time. Brunch, quick lunch, snacks or comfy dinner? Whatever you feel like, you will find it there!

Strassburg is not really a tourist place. During the weekend, there is no coffee place open, and restaurants open till 13 or 14, then close and open again at 19.00. As a tourist you should cook in the hotel room. Therefore this place is particular! It is open during the afternoon. Delicious food, very good quality products, good coffee with high-quality cakes. The only disappointment is that a cake bought to take away is sometimes almost 2 e cheaper than the one eaten at the table. Anyway, good job and recommended!
Miroslaw L — Google review
I didn’t get a chance to try the menu for dinner, but the vegan desserts were beautiful! The one I got was delicious and for a good price. It was a cherry dessert that I don’t know the name of, but it was fantastic! Only bummer was that the amazing looking hot dog is not served anymore.

15 minutes before closing time of the Shopping Center my small child was not allowed into the toilets, since the worker there said he is the one that is supposed to leave at 20.00 and has to clean before that time. He had the time to argue with us for 10 minutes without problem. Unprofessional and rude.

La Petite France is a charming area located just south of the Grande Ile in Strasbourg, between two rivers. It's known for its picturesque streets filled with half-timbered houses, making it a favorite spot for visitors to capture beautiful photos. The area is also home to numerous shops, including those within the museums, offering unique souvenirs.
Excellent food, service, and location. The restaurant is located right next to the river in the old part of Strasbourg. It is a perfect location to enjoy a snack, drink, or dinner. Their price are reasonable for the area, and they serve a variety of traditional French dishes. We had a very cozy time and can highly recommend it.

It’s a lovely place with historical buildings and the canals. However, please be aware of pick pockets!!!! We went there today and a group of around 5 or 6 (4 or 5 women and 1 men ) opened my mums back pack and tried to steal things from us. After they didn’t find anything valuable from my mum, they turned out trying to pull my auntie’s backpack!!! I started to shout and asked them to go to the police station, they covered their face and fled away!!! So be very careful when you are there !!!

La Petite France is absolutely stunning and a must-see when visiting Strasbourg. The half-timbered houses, canals, and cobblestone streets make it feel like stepping back in time. The area is full of charm, with plenty of cafés and restaurants to enjoy, and every corner is picture-perfect. It’s very walkable, with beautiful views of the river and bridges. Even when it’s busy, the atmosphere is welcoming and worth the visit. Whether you’re exploring during the day or in the evening when the lights reflect on the water, it’s unforgettable. Highly recommend spending a few hours here to take it all in.

The Strasbourg Covered Bridges, a set of three bridges and four towers dating back to the 13th century, are located in a charming setting with scenic views. Despite losing their roofs in the 18th century, they still retain their name. The four towers overlooking the bridges date from the 14th century and were part of the city's former ramparts. These historic structures have been classified as a Monument historique since 1928.
It's is a very beautiful scenic place with small bridges and play ground. The area has many small barrages which regulates flow of water. This place is heavenly during Christmas market.

Iconic spot in Strasbourg. It is private property but can be enjoyed from the bridge. Happy to have caught it on a sunny day in late summer.

Good place for walking and enjoying the city vide on river side and the water views. Even in city centre, it’s not crowded and no much noises. There is train for site seeing started from cathedral, if you take that you could enjoy the site seeing with less walking. Sunny day will be more nice and great for visitors. From this point you will get nice view of the cathedral. There no much place for siting and enjoying the river side.

This is a charming series of three bridges along with four towers that cross the narrow islands of the River Ill in the Petite France area in Strasbourg. They were constructed during the 13th-century and formed part of the defensive wall around the city during the Middle Ages and are now a Historic Monument of France (1928). Originally made of covered wooden bridges, what you find today are sandstone bridges with cobblestone surface. It is a charming location to walk in between the medieval towers which continue to stand as well. Views in both directions are really nice. It is a great spot to pass by while sightseeing around Petit France.

Barrage Vauban, a 17th-century pink sandstone weir and bridge in Strasbourg, was originally constructed as a defensive structure to protect the city from potential attacks. Today, it stands as a historic site housing sculptures and artwork. The panoramic viewpoint at the tip of the dam offers stunning views of the city, including Le Petite France and the Ponts Couverts.
It is a wonderful place, especially walking up to have a view of the entire place and the Cathedral was an amazing sight also. Great place for photography. Within the tunnels are also some great sculptures / statues

Really nice place to either walk through and look at some of the stone sculptures that came from other places or to go to the top and enjoy the view. We came there at dawn when the purple lights were just switched on which was really nice.
Annabella W — Google review
Barrage Vauban in Strasbourg is a compact masterpiece of stone, strategy, and quiet beauty. Built in the late 1600s as a military defense structure, this fortified dam was once capable of flooding entire plains to protect the city. Today, it stands as a peaceful reminder of that past—welcoming visitors to climb up its stone stairs or take the elevator to a panoramic rooftop terrace. From the top, the view is breathtaking: the Ponts Couverts with their ancient towers, the gentle flow of the canal below, the half-timbered houses of Petite France, and the spire of the Strasbourg Cathedral rising like a stone sentinel in the distance. Down below, the cool, echoing corridor of the dam holds a quiet gallery of sculptures and cast figures—many rescued from the Cathedral and other monuments. The arches hum softly with the sound of running water, and the whole space feels like a walk through time. Though unassuming at first glance, the Barrage is deeply atmospheric. It invites lingering—people sketch, take photos, or simply sit and watch the light shift across the rooftops. Entry is free, the experience is rich, and despite its historical weight, it feels surprisingly serene. A brief visit here leaves a lasting impression, especially if you enjoy subtle places that blend history, architecture, and stillness so effortlessly.

The Barrage Vauban was constructed in the 17th century on the River Ill, so it is one of the main historic attractions in Strasbourg. Protestant church
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
St. Thomas Church, also known as the Protestant Cathedral, is a significant landmark in Strasbourg with a rich historical and cultural legacy. It became the main Protestant church in the region after Cathedrale Notre-Dame transitioned to Catholicism in 1681. The church's late-Gothic design and pink sandstone exterior make it emblematic of Alsatian Gothic architecture. It features tombs and an organ that was played by Mozart.
Église Saint-Thomas de Strasbourg was built between the 12th and 16th centuries, incorporating Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Since Strasbourg Cathedral returned to Catholicism after the annexation of the city by France in 1681, Saint-Thomas has served as the main Lutheran church of the city. Inside, it houses a 1741 Silbermann organ and the mausoleum of Marshal Maurice de Saxe, created in 1777, both in the Baroque style.
Kent W — Google review
St. Thomas Church is located along Rue Martin Luther at Place Saint-Thomas and is the main Lutheran church in Strasbourg. I enjoyed seeing the late 12th to mid 16th-centuries architecture, giving St. Thomas both noticeable Romanesque and Gothic features. Within there is an organ which was played by Mozart as well as modestly decorated nave, side aisles lined with sarcophagi and tombs dating back to the 12th-century. It is an interesting historic church to view from the outside and to spend a few minutes browsing within.
Brad — Google review

Magda — Google review
While this is not the most famous of the churches in town, it's history, architecture, sculpture, and magnificent organ deserves a visit. Pro tip: visiting this Lutheran church is free, and there are friendly and helpful staff that will offer you a paper guide, available in multiple languages, to make your visit meaningful.

St. Thomas Church, located at Place Saint-Thomas in Strasbourg, is a significant example of Alsatian Gothic architecture. Constructed between the late 12th and early 16th centuries on a site with religious roots dating back to the 6th century, it has been a Protestant place of worship since 1524. Notable features include the impressive mausoleum of Marshal de Saxe, an 18th-century baroque masterpiece, and the historic organ played by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The church is open to visitors Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (extended to 6 p.m. in spring and summer), and on Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (until 5:30 p.m. in spring and summer). It is closed in January and the first two weeks of February, and during services. Admission is free. Visitors appreciate its serene atmosphere and rich history, making it a worthwhile stop in Strasbourg.

Local producers have gathered in this place. I rarely buy here because not all the products are organic. The smoked fish are particularly salty. There is only organic vanilla ice cream that I can consume here. It's really good. Updated on 24/05/2022 Back to this place after last purchase of ice-creams in December last year, I found the person who gave me advices on all kinds of meat quite patient and helpful. As I don't consume meat, his advices are precious for me. Strawberries are in season and the prices for different varieties are quite correct.

Shop and product OK, good quality. However, a new sqles woman made my experience unpleasant, twice. She is not properly trained and lacks knowledge of products but she admonished me twice on not knowing the name of the products, with unfriendly tone. I buy food, not names and I'm rather imcomfortable for her being rude with me for such a small issue. Her colleagues are nice, happy and laid out persons, which I generally expect in a bio shop. The Marco Polo restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening out. The service is warm and welcoming, and the food is delicious. Specialties include pasta dishes with traditional Venetian flavors, as well as rich French wines. The waterfront location provides a picturesque backdrop, while the terrace allows guests to enjoy a relaxing evening in the company of loved ones.
We had a great time at Marco Polo in Strasbourg! The staff was super friendly. The breadsticks were actually part of the decoration on the dishes, but they tasted so good that we asked for more — and they gave us some for free! The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Highly recommended!

The restaurant's location is really nice. The food unfortunately not so much. I had a pizza which was overloaded, the first slice tasted great, though I had to fight a little towards the end. My girlfriend ordered the chicken with spätzle. For what she got (regarding size and amount) it was overpriced to the moon. The portion could have fed a small child. The waiters tried their best although it took them so long that we paid on our way out. If there aren't any free tables somewhere else then you might consider it, otherwise I would be looking for someplace else.

Food was pretty good. Staff do not speak English at all so ensure you know what you want off the menu. There was no menu for beer, so although I ordered a lager I received some beer with I think had cola in it 🤢. The wine glass was also dirty so needed to have it changed. How on earth does it leave the kitchen like that? Nice place to sit and watch the world go by however.

Got seated, ordered drinks. Took 45 mins to take our order. 5 sets of patrons came after us and all of them got their food and we were still waiting. Put our order in and no food. The waiter literally walked past us at least 12 times. We told the waiter we still didn’t get food and said it wasn’t his fault( not sure how it wasn’t) Paid for drinks and left. In all my years of eating out I’ve never experienced this.

Fine dining restaurant
Asian fusion restaurant
Restaurant Umami in Petite-France offers an elegant and understated space where guests can enjoy imaginative French-global fusion cuisine paired with a robust wine list. Chef Rene Fieger's culinary journey around the world, particularly in Shanghai, inspired him to bring Asian flavors and techniques to Strasbourg. Unlike other restaurants in the area, Umami is known for its willingness to import fresh ingredients to stay true to specific dishes or cuisines.
Intimate restaurant with very few tables. The dishes were tasty with unique flavors. Service was great and attentive.

1 star restaurant. There is a big influence of Japanese taste for meals and decorations. But less for lunch. Of you prefer more influence of Japanese, I shall recommend for dinner. I enjoyed more a mouse bouche and entre.
Cou C — Google review
We had two vegetarian lunch menus with one wine and one non-alcoholic pairing and were very happy with the experience. We had a question about the vegetarian menu and called shortly in advance. We were able to reach someone right away who was very helpful. The dining area of the restaurant is small which makes it very cozy and the interior design is calming. The food was delicious and the presentation nice. Portion sizes were the perfect size making us full after the three courses (+ amuse bouche). Unfortunately, our tummies were too full for the cheese plate. There was one person serving the tables who was very polite and did her job very well.

One of the best Michelin star meals I've ever had. All the more impressive knowing that there is only one chef in the kitchen making the entire meal for all 16 of his guests. There is also only one server. Truly incredible, and also the best value for any Michelin restaurant ever. I had venison, lobster, monkfosh, and steak, in addition to dessert, two amuses, and delicious bread, all for just 87 euros. Can't be beat, and I've been to over 50 Michelin restaurants!

Relaxed and friendly family owned Michelin star restaurant. The lunch menu is a treat - great value!

After a long drive from Munich following the close of Oktoberfest, I arrived in Strasbourg feeling exhausted and unsure if I could truly enjoy an evening out. But our dinner at Umami was so inspiring that three hours flew by in what felt like just thirty minutes. Chef René and Jessica have created something truly special here. They run the restaurant completely on their own—Jessica providing warm, attentive, flawless service while her husband works magic in the tiniest kitchen I have ever seen. The teamwork, passion, and care they put into every detail are palpable. We enjoyed the multicourse dinner, and each dish lived up to the restaurant’s name—umami in every sense. The flavors and textures were balanced, surprising, and deeply satisfying. From start to finish, the meal was a journey of creativity and precision. This is not just dining—it’s a rare, intimate experience that shows what can happen when two people pour their hearts into their craft. Thank you, Chef René and Jessica, for giving us an evening that far exceeded our expectations. I will remember this dinner for a very long time and cannot recommend Umami enough.

Fantastic. This is of my all-time favorite Michelin Star restaurants that I've been to. Everything had a unique taste, texture, and presentation. Beautiful restaurant, limited seating approx 16 seats total.

We visited Umami again this year and enjoyed the delicious dishes just as much! Great wine pairing and unpretentious atmosphere in the restaurant to just enjoy everything. The menu was smaller but still very well thought out and a nice selection. The photos are from the 2022 visit, minus the monk fish course which was great but gone before we could take a picture. One of the most delicious meals ever...we had the 7 course menu with perfectly matched wine selection. Amazing value, super friendly and unpretentious service. We will book a table whenever we visit Strasbourg again! Highly recommended slice of food heaven :-)

Tea house
Gift shop
Nestled behind a burgundy, wooden, and glass door at the foot of Strasbourg Cathedral lies Au Fond du Jardin, an enchanting boutique and tea salon with a Victorian-inspired decor. This elegant and unique establishment offers high-end pastries, including exquisite madeleines, perfect for indulging in during their "gouter" - the French version of British tea time. The ambiance is reminiscent of an English way of life with a focus on artisanal traditions.
We did not manage to make reservations for afternoon tea and queued for about an hour to get into the shop to purchase the madeleines and tea. The owner was very passionate and explained to us the stories behind the madeleines. That really helped us enjoy the madeleines on a different level, not only were the madeleines so beautiful, the stories brought us to the next level of enjoyment when we savoured the madeleines. Our favourites was Coeur de Givre, Jardin à Marrakech, Magie Praliné, and Victoria. The owner also recommended some tea for us, they are very reasonably priced. We have not tried yet but are looking forward to taste them soon.
Amy C — Google review
Cutest tea room. Madeleines are to die for. Super helpful staff as well. The interior feels straight out of a story book.
Shreya P — Google review
This salon de thé is a place with true heart and soul. From the moment you step inside, you feel welcomed into more than just a tea room—you’re stepping into Fred’s world. The décor is thoughtful and full of charm, each detail telling its own story, much like Fred himself, whose warmth and openness make the experience unforgettable. The madeleines alone are worth the visit—delicate, flavorful, and almost poetic, as if they carry their own voice and soul. Pair them with a cup of tea, and you’ll understand why this is not just a stop, but a destination. A must-visit for anyone who values atmosphere, authenticity, and a touch of magic in their day.

Magical place to be. I love every detail of this place and how the decorations change with the season. Try to reserve online at least one month in advance. Frederick "the owner/creator" is almost always present and welcomes each customer with great elegance and warmth. The other staff is also lovely. Great selection of teas and madeleines as well. Overall, an unforgettable tea time experience ❤️
Serdilan D — Google review
The atmosphere, the decoration is incredible. There’s so much thought that goes into everything. The two owners are extremely passionate and kind very very patient and welcoming and I really appreciate their love of people and what they do. Absolutely nothing to say about their customer service except for the fact that it’s excellent Experience is all very pleasant, as it comes to the food, the madeleine are good but I wouldn’t say they are life changing.
Cindy S — Google review
I went with my older sister and friend to have a tea party with the owner. He is very very passionate about his shop and gives the best recommendations on tea and madelines. You can tell he makes everything with care such love that you cant help but feel amazing the moment you walk in. The madelines are to die for. I was craving madelines one day and begged my older sister to go with me and we havent stop going to his shop ever since. We cross the border from Germany to keep buying these madelines as they change with the season.
Laura B — Google review
I never felt more welcome at any establishment ever. We reached there quite late and we had 4 Madeleines left for us. The owner took time to explain the story of each of them. He told us a bit about the place and truly his passion and love for culinary really reflects in every corner of the shop. The decor and ambience is just awe inspiring. The Madeleines are exquisite pieces of art. I have no words. This was absolute perfection. We were told the decor and the Madeleines are decorated according to the seasons and they celebrate 7 seasons. I am definitely coming back to the shop in a different season.

Amazing place you should visit. Hard to get a table there I was extremely lucky, better make a reservation. The atmosphere is amazing, owner was so nice and friendly telling a lot of interesting facts and stories. Food was very sophisticated and tasty. Would be happy to visit this place once again when I would be in Strasbourg.

This is actually a very nice one-level mall. A good size mall that you won't feel tired walking around. There are all kinds of stores, including cafes, restaurants, KFC, and a large E.Leclerc supermarket, etc. The mall is very maintained with natural lighting. It was quite funny that I experienced different temperatures in different zones (I mean warm & cool in different sections).

Wine cellar
Historic Sites
Nestled beneath the Strasbourg Hospital, the Cave Historique des Hospices de Strasbourg is a remarkable landmark that dates back to 1395. This historic cellar offers visitors an enchanting glimpse into the past, showcasing a collection of around 60 majestic oak barrels filled with exquisite Alsatian wines. The unique origin of these wines stems from a time when patients would pay for their medical care with land and vineyards, making wine not just a beverage but also an essential part of both religious and medicinal practices.
Nice place to visit and learn about the history of the hospital cave and winemaking. A must visit for people who enjoy wine. There is a nice collection of wines from local producers to buy and 3 times per year there are organized wine tasting events. The entrance is free of charge and if you want an audio guide there is a small fee of 3 euro per person to rent it.
Petros P — Google review
I had a great experience visiting the historic cave section and the wine cellar. The entrance is free of charge and there was no queue on a Monday. Seeing the various wine barrels was very interesting, including the story on the barrel from 1472 which is also displayed. The wine from 1472 is still kept in a barrel in that cellar! On a side note, the Hospices building where the cellar is located is really interesting looking and the cellar also offers a cool break from the heat on hot days.
Danny A — Google review
This hidden historic cellar offers good selection of local wines. Being not too touristy and free to enter, makes it a great place to visit, especially if you are a wine lover. There's a rich history behind this place, holding one of the oldest wines in the world! Take care if you are allergic to mould!
Stefan N — Google review
I love this wine cave! Not only can you visit the cave with one of the oldest wine in France (1472), and the biggest barrel I've ever heard of (20,000 liters), but you can buy some amazing choice France wine. A great place to visit if you enjoy wine.
Barbara C — Google review
Wine cellar that holds the oldest wine in the world. They have lot of old wine barrels and old tunnels used in the past and a piece of history on how wine is used to treat patients. They also have a very big collection of wine you can buy, from all over France as well as from their own production. If you are a wine person, this is a must visit. If you are a big group, you can also book wine tasting.
Naveen S — Google review
Must visit. Free entry. They also have shop. A big variety of wine. You can visit all that place
Florin S — Google review
I absolutely adore this place! Every time I visit Strasbourg, I make sure to stop by here. it’s just too special to miss. It’s free to enter, which is a big plus, and it’s a place steeped in rich history. The cave was originally established in 1395, and it holds the oldest barrel-stored wine in the world, dating back to 1472! How amazing is that? Just knowing you’re standing among barrels that have been around for centuries adds a special charm to the place. The selection of wine is impressive—whether you’re into Alsace wines or curious about other French regions, they have it all. There’s a lot to explore in terms of both wines and the historical significance of the hospital itself, as it used to serve the city's sick and poor, with wine playing an important role in the treatments. The ambiance is fantastic—vaulted ceilings, atmospheric lighting, and rows upon rows of bottles. You’ll get to learn about wine production in Alsace, taste a few options, and even pick up some bottles to bring home. It’s not too touristy either, so it’s great if you want a more authentic experience in the heart of Strasbourg. Overall, it’s a brilliant stop if you enjoy history, want to learn about wine, or just fancy a unique experience in the city. Definitely add it to your itinerary!

Specialty Museums
Le Vaisseau, situated in Strasbourg, is a science discovery center designed for children aged 3 to 15. The museum offers around 130 interactive displays and activities covering various topics such as the human body, plants and animals, building and construction, mathematics, and logic. Visitors can explore the garden with science and sensory trails, a pond, and an orchard.
Great indoor activity for kids, specially young ones. It does have some science related sections but it’s not a “history of science museum” like you might find in other cities. Kids loved it, it seemed modern and well maintained. Signs and explanations were in French, German, and English. The place has its own parking area (and in our case we got a free voucher at the exit)
Hugo K — Google review
Googled museums and it said that this was a science museum, and it is, but just one for kids, I should have read the fine print. I thought that as long as I am there, why not nuture my inner child and just check it out. Ticket price is pretty cheap, 7 euros I think. Well designed and probably a totally cool place for a kid. It's nice that there are places like this for kids, and for those of us who want to remember what that was like. The exhibits, tasks and games would be very good for children. If you have kids and are in Strasbourg, this would be a nice place to go. They also have seating and possibly beverage or food services for the adults.
Kevin ( — Google review
Great place to visit with young (and older) children. There are lots of sensory experiences for babies. We loved the outside too. Shame about the cafe being closed but happy there were vending machine options.
Lara W — Google review
We had such a great time here and will definitely be back! If you buy a subscription the same day you come, they'll reimburse your entry. You can bring food and eat it there, but the café doesn't offer much. The website says ideal for 2 and up but my almost one-year-old had a blast.
Lindsey R — Google review
A great place to take your kids on a rainy day or when they're done with "endless days looking at old houses and churches!" The museum is very interactive and our kids. 7 and 12, would have stayed way longer than the 3 hours we spent there. I'd make sure to bring my own lunch as there are very limited options for buying food but there's a big "family pic-nick area" where people sit down to eat - and grown-ups can sit and drink vending machine coffee. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Ragnheidur E — Google review
It’s okay, but not really what I expected from a “science museum.” It’s more like a big indoor playground with a few fun interactive things here and there. Probably great for younger kids (around 8 and under), but older ones might get bored pretty fast. It wasn’t bad — just not much in terms of real science exhibits.
Onlysterbsli — Google review
A very nice science museum, especially well-suited for families with children. You can easily spend at least 2–3 hours exploring the exhibits. It's best to visit on a less busy day, as the museum can get quite crowded and queues often form at the most popular activities. There are many attractions for young children, as well as engaging experiences for older kids and adults. Paid car parking and a free of charge bike locker are available just outside. the museum.
Petros P — Google review
Unfortunately, the restaurant was a big disappointment. The steak was tough, full of gristle, and the sauce had no flavor at all. The duck breast was also very chewy. I honestly don’t understand the high rating (4.6) and all the glowing reviews — it feels like they were written by people who have never tried truly good food. Overall, it’s an absolutely average place and definitely not worth the price.

Fine dining restaurant
Au Crocodile is a renowned restaurant located in an elegant 19th-century venue, offering innovative fine dining with a touch of old Alsace and a modern twist. The grand salon features skylights and a magnificent 19th-century painting by Adolphe Grison, setting the tone for an exquisite dining experience. Chef Romain Brillat leads the team in presenting dazzling dishes that showcase Alsatian-French haute cuisine with a nouvelle spin.
Incredible meal, really nice atmosphere and amazing history around this restaurant. The staff were incredible, knowledgeable and spoke several languages. The food was exceptional and worth the price, overall experience was great. It was our honeymoon and they even brought out a beautiful additional dessert dish for us to celebrate at no extra cost
Sean M — Google review
This place is overpriced and overrated. We were there for Christmas lunch and gosh they ripped us of. A pour of champagne was charged 20 euros. Three slices of truffle was 25 euros. I have been to twenty or so Michelin star places across four continents and none come close to the price gouging of this place.😱😱😱 Overall in France Michelin Star is not reliable and highly biased. Some of the dishes were great and some were quite awful. Also the service is good but some of the dishes were served in chipped utensils. :/ Coming to food, the chef lacks balance or I have a poor palate. The key lime with the fish sent a shock to my bones. The olive oil on the ice cream was unnecessary. I have not seen someone ruining a great caviar with strange wrap around like this place before. 😫 The lobster and the pastry with the poultry dish were memorable . The small bites were good too.
Sayantan M — Google review
Wonderful meal. Beautiful room. Hospitable and knowledgeable staff. Blossoms filled with fish were slightly sweet and creamy like ricotta. Smoked arctic char with cherry’s was a masterful match. Nice add-ons from amuse bouche, to brioche, bread, and after dinner sweets. Will return….

A great dining experience for us and the food highlight of our Alsace trip. Everything from start to finish was worthy of its fine dining Michelin rating. We opted for the tasting menu that included all dishes on the a la carte menu. Every dish tasted wonderful with portions being perfect. Flawless service enhanced the evening. Don't miss this one!

We had a wonderful lunch at Au Crocodile in Strasbourg last Saturday and opted for the Discovery Menu. Every course was beautifully crafted, but the highlights for us were the perfectly cooked red snapper and the outstanding cheese selection. What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. From the moment we arrived, the whole team took exceptional care of us, making us feel both welcomed and special. A heartfelt thank you in particular to Loan and the entire service team for their attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism. An excellent balance of fine dining, creativity, and hospitality. We can only highly recommend Au Crocodile to anyone visiting Strasbourg.

We booked it here because no other restaurants were available and this is the only place that is free for us and it’s the best decision we have ever made. From the beginning you enter, you receive very warmest and the most politeness of the welcomes from the staffs. We were seated and the upper floor. You feel that it’s luxurious but still cozy and won’t make you feel uncomfortable. They started serving you the warm towel and then serve us an appetizer which good but some of them are quite strong taste. After that, we ordered the chef menu which include 6 dish in total but at the end you will receive more. We were quite worried that we might not be full but due to they were taking time serving each small dish then we felt really full after leaving the restaurant. Each time they serve the dish, they will explain what are they and what products are they from. We really like the idea of using the local products to made each dish. We enjoy every moment we were there from food to services. Really worth for your experiences.
KN I — Google review
An incredibly sophisticated yet still cozy place. Food was an absolute delight. Our server also really knew his wines! To top off our fabulous evening we even got to peak into an original Michelin guide book from 1968.
G. L — Google review
Edited after education and feedback: Michelin 1 Star approaching the experience of a 2 star. The food is forgettable. It's well crafted, but not expressive. High quality products, but nothing you want to revisit. You might even just want McDonald's afterward. And no chocolates or gift to finish. (even if it's just the printed menu, candy or something used in the food to remember them by). Wine list is decent, but prices are near 3-4x retail for bottles, and the by the glass menu is very poor (only 1 crand cru). They are pushy to buy wine - to the point it's obvious they need to because they don't naturally sell enough. Their confirmation of this tells me they would benefit from restructuring their wine menu. There are many affordable and excellent Alsacian wines that would _greatly_ enhance the diner's experience AND net more profit. I.e. marvel deiss Pinot noir is around €50. I would pay €125 and probably order a second bottle. Pierre Frick costs half that, but could charge the same. Albert Seltz, Boeckel, Karcher grand crus are very affordable and excellent quality. By improving quality and not ripping people off of the markup, diners will buy more. You'll actually make more money! (And have happier diners). I, for example, refused to pay over 3x retail for wine and chose water instead. The dining room is lovely, but the servers' shirts are 'nude' and the same color as the carpet, so everything blends in and it's very Eyes Wide Shut.

This is a nice patisserie and tea room along Rue de l'Outre which has an indoor seating area as well as take-away service. You can view their fine dessert selections in the window before stepping in to make purchase decisions which staff will prepare and package for you. Opening hours are 8.30am to 6.30pm (closed on Sundays and Mondays). We did take-way from Patisserie Christian recently and quite enjoyed their pistachio and praline roll slices and a chocolate style tart back in our apartment. Everything tasted quite good, worthy or return visits to pick up more of their delicate and nice tasting desserts.

We were captivated by the beautifully decorated storefront in the Christmas theme after visiting the Strasbourg Christmas Market. Inside, the staff were friendly and gave excellent recommendations. This is very famous, traditional patisserie in Strasbourg. They owner is changed recently but she also respects the tradition of Christian and it is always same as before. Because of this restaurant I am in love with french cuisine. Thanks for the beautifully made dishes. Lunch menu is simple which saves me a lot of time deciding what to eat. It's my first time trying french cuisine in a restaurant that is super.

The food was good, although I don’t really understand why the restaurant is included in the Michelin Guide. The cloth napkins were rather small and felt synthetic, not very pleasant to use. There was also no variety of glasses for champagne, which was a bit surprising, but acceptable. The main disappointment, however, was that the ashtray outside is placed right next to the entrance, so smoke drifts inside the restaurant. It would be such an easy fix to move it a little further away, allowing guests to enjoy their meal without being disturbed.

The food was good! One of the best mushroom soups and risotto I’ve ever had. The only thing I wasn’t impressed by was the duck breast. It tastes good but It was a bit though an chewy. I had better duck breast in Lyon. However, no matter how good the food is, if the service was not at par, the whole experience is ruined. There was a big group in the restaurant and we noticed that a the service attention was at that group. I take a lot of photos so I am certain with these following info. We placed an order and got our first glasses of wine at 19:33. We got our entrees at 20:11, and got our plats at 20:55. We got our desserts at 21:35. This dinner took over 2.5 hours. There’s over 30 minutes gap between the appetizer and the main course. I’ve never had that happened to me anywhere in the world before. I almost asked for a blanket so I can take a nap while they serve me the next dish.

Food, service and cocktails are amazing! The staff is beyond nice!

The cocktails were amazing. The food was amazing. The food combinations were creative and surprising, but so very delicious. The atmosphere is so nice. The service is impeccable. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It is an absolute treasure.

I reserved a table for me and my friends after seeing the Blue Flamingo on the Michelin Guide App. We were very pleasently surprised by the fair prices for our menu. The service was likeable, friendly and accomodating. Most importantly, the food was delicious. If we ever went back to Straßburg, we would love to visit the Blue Flamingo again.

Patisserie
Pâtisserie Tonton Gâteau is a charming tea room located at the entrance of Krutenau, featuring a pleasant indoor space and inviting outdoor terrace. The cafe offers an array of delectable pastries and a menu for breakfast, lunch, and Saturday brunch.
Had the pleasure of dining at Pâtisserie Tonton Gâteau TWICE. We were so impressed by our waitress (I believe her name was Lucille, could be wrong) and how wonderful the food was the first time that we had to stop by again before leaving Strasbourg. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

Very nice place like a garden. It is pretty girlish and cute patisserie. The cakes are very creative, colourful, and also good!

Excellent and not overpriced. Really innovative flavours with the beautifully constructed cakes. Drinks were also pushing the boundaries and explored new flavours - highly recommend their pistachio espresso latte! On top of this, lovely service. Recommended!

First of all, slow service. I do not know why, but it took me a lot longer to get served than everyone else. Once I addressed the wait issue, I was finally served but now with dirty mug and saucer. Not a big deal, I just wiped it with a napkin, but not a good impression either. Desserts were okay. I personally liked Le Galet better than La Fraise. Much stronger flavor and tasted better with coffee. The strawberry one was kind of plain. Update: I sat down outside first. Saw the waitress passing me a couple of times, and there was no greeting or menu explanation. So I moved to inside and then sat down in a little sofa thing and the same thing. Then I stood next to the window seat because that's where I wanted to sit down, and that again took forever. I really do not know why, but the waitress(es) cleaned all the tables inside and outside, but not that one. That's when I walked back to the cash register and asked the cashier lady if I could order first because at that point, I was going to wait forever. I sat down at the uncleaned table, and they finally cleaned it. Other than this weird situation, everything else was okay.

The desserts were incredibly beautiful and divine in taste. The waitress was very sweet and friendly. I'll definitely come again.

Great breakfast/brunch! Pastry looked amazing. Nice ambiance.

Unique desserts, a lot to choose from. Even though the place was full, we got served quickly and the staff was very friendly to everyone.

Delicious cakes and desserts 🍮 but my favourite is still the Alsatian cheese cake 🍰 not too sweet soft and creamy at the same time. Flat white coffee is the best with two shots of expresso and one milk. Very friendly barista

Restaurant
Supertonic, located in Place d'Austerlitz, initially puzzled the locals with its unique concept of combining gins and sausages. However, it has become a beloved spot for Strasbourgeois(e)s to gather and enjoy a wide selection of 61 gins and 13 tonics. The bar also offers an extensive range of sausage plates or buns to pair with the drinks. The ambiance inside is cozy with beautiful light fixtures and comfortable benches.
So many different gin options, it is a gin lovers paradise. The curfywurst was quite tasty as well. Recommend if you are a gin fiend. Do be sure to try their take on an Irish Coffee.

This cozy cafe is a great place to brunch. Cool that they are serving Brunch until 3 p.m. The menu is varied, with a vegetarian option and a meat option from classic eggs. As a guy from switzerland I‘d say the price of 28€ is reasonable. The vibe is pretty relaxed although the staff ( just one of them) didn’t really made a friendly impression on us…Recommend for a late brunch!

--- Super tonic had a great, chill, social atmosphere at night. The location is close to the center of town and recommended to me by individuals born and raised in Strasbourg. The drinks were amazing - some of the best I've had during my months in Europe. I forget the name of the gin I ordered and have been trying to remember for MONTHS (yes it was that good), but it had juniper berries and anis. The gin (with Miss Tonic) was exactly the refreshing, floral drink I was looking for, thank you to our server for the recommendation! The server we had was really kind and patient, despite my French being poor (so he, without judgement, tried speaking English too). I was confused at the pricing at first so let me explain it here. If you want gin and tonic, you have two "formulas": 1. Gin (listed price) + tonic mixed into a glass (1€ or 1.9€) 2. Gin (listed price) + a bottle of tonic (4.50€) I hope you try this local bar!
