Lancaster Castle, a substantial fortress dating back to the 12th century, offers a range of attractions including a museum, guided tours, and activities for children. The John O Gaunt Gatehouse is an impressive feature with semi-octagonal towers rising 20 meters above sloping plinths. The castle has served various purposes throughout history, from a Roman station to a notorious prison.
Until recently a working prison, Lancaster Castle offers an amazing insight into modern and ancient history. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. Wonderful café on site which you can visit without paying an entry fee.
Adam L — Google review
Had a wonderful and interesting tour by Sandra. You do need a tour to see most of the castle, but it was well worth it. Courtyard and businesses inside are free otherwise. Fascinating to be inside both the historic (and only closed recently) prison and the still functioning crown courts. Building is stunning and lovely views from just outside too
George L — Google review
Amazing place to visit we had a coffee and sat in the grounds. You can pay £9 to go on a tour as well. It also has holding cells that are currently used for HM Prison. There are only a few Parking spaces outside that you have to buy a ticket for . Recommended
Wheelz A — Google review
We took the guided tour of the castle, reasonable for £9 per person. Since it used to be a working prison and parts of it are still a working court, you have to take the guided tour to see the full thing. We had a lovely guide, very engaging and informative. The tour lasts about an hour. The castle has a lot of history, quite a lot of it is dark, the tour touches upon these themes too. There is a Prison Museum too. The courtroom is part of the tour, unless it is in session on the day. Photography isn't allowed in those parts of the tour. I would recommend visiting castle, doing the tour and then visiting the Priory at the back of the castle, there are some remains of roman baths too.
Saloni P — Google review
We did the tour as a family and it was really interesting. Great value for money. They give you lots of insight into the history and had a lot of knowledge. Simon made it fun and interesting and kept the whole group engaged. It’s my second time of going and I would go again. Dogs are not allowed but I couldn’t resist getting a snap of our dog there.
Simon M — Google review
We used the Lancaster Park and Ride to get to the castle, the buses were comfortable and the drivers really nice and helpful. The castle itself is large but you cannot visit lots of areas and you cannot photograph in the Civil and Criminal Court areas. Your entry includes a Guided tour that is highly recommended as it is interesting, informative and well delivered. The tour takes you through the castles history, much of it being as a court, prison and place of execution and explains the relationship to various monarchs who have held the Duchy of Lancaster. There is a nice comfortable cafe, with a relaxed atmosphere, toilets are clean and fresh.
Alan H — Google review
Worth a visit the tour is only £9 PP. Lots of history and interesting things to see, from the court rooms, prison cells and torture chamber devices. Must be able bodied, as the castle is old, dark in places and lots of steps.
Alice — Google review
You need to book on a tour to go inside. We arrived at 10am and booked onto the 10.45 tour so had a look round the Pendle Witches exhibition room and part of the police museum first. The tour inside was really interesting and the guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and entertaining. It lasted about 80min and was well worth the £9 fee.

Modern British restaurant
Merchants 1688 is a historic pub and restaurant located near Lancaster Castle in a 300-year-old wine cellar. The establishment offers traditional British cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients, including classic Lancashire hot pot, beer-battered cod, and Sunday roasts. In addition to an extensive selection of wines and beers, the pub also features eight real ales, including offerings from local breweries.
If you’re going to choose one place, choose here. The quality of the food was incredible. Portion size and price for the high quality of the food was spot on. Location is beautiful, unique and characterful. Staff were accommodating and perfectly responsive to making us comfortable. A rather special place. Inside is beautiful and it’s right next to train station and castle. Menu is smaller than generic restaurants but this is due to the crafted menu which tailors to seasonal food. A high quality place and food without feeling posh or uncomfortable. We loved it.
Abigail — Google review
Amazing. I eat out about once a month and this is one of the best meals we've had out this year. I had T-Bone pork and my friend had fish and chips. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Prices were fair for what is fine dining.
Alex L — Google review
Will definitely visit again. Very close to the train station, saves having to look for a place to eat, especially if the weather is bad and you're not familiar with Lancaster. The food was wonderful, staff very pleasant and offered good recommendations. Great atmosphere and definitely try the cocktails.
Agatha P — Google review
Been here a few times recently and have been absolutely blown away with the quality of food. The autumn/winter 24 menu in particular has been amazing and it’s fantastic that a lot of the food is sourced locally. The atmosphere in the old wine cellars is lovely and makes for a really unique dining experience. Service is usually good but not always, sometimes members of staff can be quite abrupt but I appreciate they are probably very busy. Definitely not something to put you off going as the place really is one of a kind in Lancaster.
Meg J — Google review
Wife and I visited for a date night and left absolutely delighted. I started with the King Scallops with smoked tomato dashi, orange, marinated tomato & green strawberries. This was a great combination of the light seafood with sweeter accompanying tastes that complimented each other very well. For my main I had the Lythe Valley Venison Loin with black garlic, venison sausage, red cabbage puree, celeriac terrine and elderberry jus. The venison was perfect but the venison sausage was a big wow of this dish. Special mention for the elderberry jus whicu also stood out for me. So flavorful. My wife started with the beef short rib with roast cauliflower puree, kale crisp, Yorkshire pecorino and pickled walnut. This went down a treat for her, especially with a glass of Chile pinot grigio. For her main she decided on the Barbeque monkfish with maple glaze, muscade pumpkin, kale and pumpkin seed pesto. The fish was juicy and succulent without being overpowering. Again a dish that had no faults. We hadn't eaten an evening meal here before, but had had several lunches over the years. The evening menu was outstanding and nothing like I have ever had in Lancaster before. As for atmosphere, the rooms were full and vibrant. The table service was excellent, with our waiter remembering our request for another pinot right before the main. Altogether we are absolutely delighted with the experience and cannot wait to return. Thank you Merchants.
Chris K — Google review
The prices aren't cheap but the food is full of flavour and to a high standard. Particularly enjoyed the 72 hour lamb hotpot and the sticky toffee pudding with marmalade ice cream.
Alex B — Google review
The cutest venue. Feels like you're eating in a wine cellar. The best French onion soup i have ever had! The lamb hot pot is savory and delicious. Highly recommend.

Nicely set out, plenty of shops, and enough eateries for a decent day out . There's a good mix of smaller stores to the larger high street shops. Venture slightly further and you can find some quaint coffee shops and interesting shops on the backstreets. Security is always around, ample bins for rubbish, and it's clean.

Small shopping centre with not much variation. The Primark is the best thing here and has a big selection of clothing but apart from this and the new look there isn't much else to shout about. Takes a couple of minutes to walk all the way round and I normally come out empty handed.

Friendly staff members, welcoming relaxed atmosphere and very reasonably priced cafe for Lancaster. The portion sizes are huge and presented beautifully. The food itself is high quality and tasty - large selection, also. We had the falafel platter, chips, spiced teacake, date & pear slice, apple juice and a glass of milk. All very good and filling.

Super place for a fully vegetarian menu. It was packed on a weekday lunchtime and people were queuing out of the door but the queue moved fairly quickly. Tip: reserve a table in advance if you can. Up a flight of stairs. Menu seems to be based on Specials that keep changing.

Great little vegetarian spot hidden upstairs in an alleyway. The chorizo is a great veggie effort!

Had a lovely brunch here and I got an English breakfast. You can tell how big it was, very filling, very good. My friend got the BLT and the sauce in it was to die for! The two matcha drinks were very tasty with oat milk and all Atmosphere was nice and relaxed and the staff were very polite to talk to.

ABSOLUTELY BLOOODY LUVLEH never in my entire life have I tasted such a SCRUMMY YUMMY DELICACY. I just came back from a big big boss business meeting and this scran quenched my HUNGERRR. it was quite nice, staff very friendly and hospitable and reasonable prices, very glad we came here and nice views. SOOOOOO YUM YUM 😛😛

It's a very serene place and the garden area is dog friendly so if you are a pet owner you can visit this cafe with your pet. The food is really good and served warm. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. They also help with any allergies, just let the staff know.
Shrestha B — Google review
We visited early on a Saturday morning, so the atmosphere was, understandably, a little flat. However, the vegan full English breakfast was gorgeous! It even came with vegan black pudding, which was a 1st for us. Strangely, the toast came way before the meal and was cold, but that was it for any negatives. The space is set out with more formal eating tables but around the edges are sofas for more relaxed just drinks areas. To find the entrance is a little challenging as it is hidden from the main street. You also need to climb some stairs to get to it. But it is very much worth it.

Best pizza I’ve had for long time, I’ve eating all my pizza and a quarter of my wife’s too , and a lovely tiramisu on top and I wasn’t feeling bloated , I’ll definitely be going back again soon
Bilgin A — Google review
Absolutely incredible pizza! The crust is perfectly light with that authentic wood-fired smokiness, and the toppings are fresh and generous without ever feeling heavy. Service was quick and friendly, and everything arrived hot and full of flavor. Easily one of the best Neapolitan pizzas I’ve had in the UK. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Mo A — Google review
Cosy little place, the large wood-fired oven in the background adds a bit of theatre. Pizzas here are very good indeed - you’ll have to try hard to find somewhere as good. Tiramisu is bob on too.
Richard B — Google review
Fabulous pizza! Can see why they win so many awards, the pizza is delicious and the sauces are incredible! I got a veggie pizza with garlic sauce and it was easily the best pizza I’ve had in the UK. The staff are friendly and food is made quickly but is of such great quality, you can really taste the wood from the firing process which is delicious! I’ll definitely return!
Charlotte H — Google review
This place is great! A perfect example of how Neapolitan Pizza should be. Fresh San Marzano tomatoes, Airy crust and a thin base. The garlic bread on its own is pretty bland, I’d recommend getting it with Rosemary and Salt (No fault of Aquila here though, just my preference) Great to have a place like this on your doorstep and will definitely be ordering here again. Cheers Aquila team :)
Charlie R — Google review
I tried their Nduja Pizza, made with San Marzano tomatoes, parmesan, mozzarella, spicy nduja sausage spread, basil, and extra virgin olive oil, it was absolutely delicious. The garlic bread was phenomenal, especially when paired with their homemade garlic and chili dips. The service was very welcoming, and the ambience was quite decent. Parking is most likely available along the roadside.
AKHIL_VARGHESE_ITTY — Google review
Recently used Aquila and one of their online package catering deals to cater for out event. With just over 24 hours notice they were amazing, with a nice easy online order and on the day timely delivery and the food was amazing as ever. They produced over 30 pizzas absolutely perfectly and arrived exactly when we asked, sadly no photos as it was all enjoyed too quickly! Can't recommend enough for catering (having used personally before) for an event!
Jake B — Google review
Ordered 2 pizzas for a home delivery and they arrived 30 minutes late. Consequently, they were cold, soggy, and incredibly chewy like wet cardboard by the time they arrived. Stones were also still in some of the olives. Didn’t bother calling the restaurant as it was already almost 10pm by the time they arrived. Absolute waste of £30! UPDATE: The restaurant very kindly gave us a voucher of £30 (Thank you so much). We picked up the pizzas from their takeaway this time. They were better this time round, high quality toppings and no stones in the olives, but the bases/crusts still rather tough and lacking in flavour in our opinion. Management clearly care about their customers, which is really great to see. Thanks again.

A really nice cosy alehouse. A very comfortable place to sit and enjoy a beer. On a cold winter’s evening waiting for a train I had a pint of Lancashire Blonde. A really good beer at only £4.60. Brilliant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Such a calm and stylish bar. The beers on offer are extensive and great quality. The barman was really friendly and clearly knew his stuff about the drinks on offer. We luckily had a thunderstorm during our visit, so had to stay for a few extra rounds of drinks. A must visit if you like good quality beer and a comfortable, stylish vibe.

Lovely atmosphere as always. Inside decoration didn't changed much, still looking great under the new name. Excellent choice of beers and wines. Staff are very friendly and polite, quick service. We had nice time and will be coming for more. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Visited this bar twice on Saturday, it has various beers on which, my friend likes. The bar was quite quiet which, we were pleased with. We managed to get served very quickly and get a seat in the window. Lancaster was busy as the sun was shining and it was a very hot day. The bar was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I really liked what they did with old beer cans. They’d actually put a small plant inside it which was really nice. The beet was nice and cold just what was needed.

I come to Lancaster on Monday evening and the city is very quiet. Luckily, I find this hidden Chinese Restaurant on the second floor of the supermarket. All dishes are good! Only tomyum that is not spicy as I expected, so I recommend to order chinese dishes as they made it very well 😋 Ps they take only cash! Be prepared!

Really lovely place to eat out. As a vegetarian, there are lots of tasty choices and served quickly. This has been a haven for my child whilst at uni with long stressful days at medical placements- perfect place to get a takeaway or sit in. As a family, we visit every time we were up and hopefully will if we are ever up north again. Thank you for your amazing food and warm, friendly service!

Quirky hidden gem. Not from the area and holidaying in Heysham. Wanted a good recommendation for a Chinese restaurant. Found this online. Rear/upstairs in a Chinese supermarket. Think takeaway counter with dining. Very casual but very good. Staff friendly. Food a solid 9/10. All fresh and tasty. Yes they take card payments. Yes they serve a small range of alcohol. Remote upstairs location so a number of stairs.

The restaurant is quite hidden as you have to go into the supermarket and then up the stairs. Their food has great value for money and tastes very home-made. We ordered their Stir Fried Hor Fun with Beef (干炒牛河) and Claypot Stewed Beef Flank with Rice (瓦煲牛腩饭) which both came only 7 minutes after being ordered!

The menu is so diversified. Lots of food to select and try like everything around southeast asia was comtained in this restaurant starting from China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, or even Singapore. I ordered 2 dished which were really delicious the taste and the smell is so good. The service of waitresses is also good and polite comparing to some chinese restaurant near Vue Cinema, the Full House wins. They like to take care of customers and always try to have a chat with customers even we dont know each other or as newcomers But the only thing that i dont really like is how they decorate their restaurant, it is a little bit unfashionable 😂😂😂

Fresh awesome food! Edit: Went out for my birthday, was feeling sorry for my self with it being in the middle of a Covid a Pandemic and being unable to see all my family and friends. I felt really safe in this restaurant and staff are lovely. The portion sizes were HUGE we took a lot home! They even allowed us to bring cake but we ended up taking it home as we ate too much food. Blue Moon is a Thai restaurant that offers familiar and lesser-known dishes as well as takeaway options. The restaurant has attracted a steady stream of guests since it opened in 2011.
My favourite restaurant ever. Service is always fanatic and the food is quite simply unbeatable. If you are in Lancaster even for just one day I would say that Blue Moon is the where you should eat. The portion sizes and very good and the sticky rice is phenomenal. The chefs are obviously very talented and as there is glass between the kitchen and restaurant (always a very good sign) you can see how expertly they prepare all the food. Fanatic and well worth a visit.

You can’t get higher quality Thai food near here than Blue Moon. Really great service too. Only down side was the draft through the entrance. Loved it. Second visit: 1.5 hour wait for main. Food was delicious but not sure I would wait again.

One of my favourite places to eat in Lancaster! Fresh, delicious food. The quality is insane for the price. Staff are so attentive. And you HAVE to try the Thai Iced tea! Wow. So sweet and delicious. Cocktails are very tasty but a little pricey. Lunch time deals are reasonable for a big portion at a good price.

All round excellent experience here - the staff were great and the food came out in good time and tasted very good. Would definitely recommend.

A very nice Thai restaurant with a great ambiance, good service and great food. Prices are reasonable with good portion sizes

I have walked past this restaurant many times, and I decided to have a try; I ordered a lunch special set No.7, which costs £9. The lunch set came with a piece of duck spring roll, a piece of deep fried prawn and Massaman beef curry with steamed rice. Duck spring roll was not good because the meat smell was too strong. Deep fried prawn was good. Massaman beef curry was terrible. They used sliced beef instead of chunks, so It wasn’t tender and juicy at all. The flavour of the curry was also not good; it seemed to be just instant curry paste and coconut milk. Thus, it was completely different from what I have eaten in Thailand. Service was average. Therefore, I think that the lunch special set is not worthy, and I will definitely not be back again.

Beautiful Thai eatery in the centre of Lancaster. There is parking a little way down the street and a few stairs inside the venue. It was a little noisy when we ate otherwise it was beautiful, clean, well presented and the staff were very professional. The prices are eye watering expensive for very simple food. Good food but I'm not sure worthy of the price tag. My massaman curry with rice was 14 pounds! Annoyingly it was the best one I'd ever had. I finished with deep fried ice cream which is divine and I highly recommend it. So in summary, I'd say go there, order carefully, drink water, think about a set menu, and enjoy great food.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Williamson Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Ashton Hall Garden Centre. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Williamson Park, located just outside the bustling city center of Lancaster, covers 54 acres of parkland and offers a serene escape from urban life. The park features woodland walks, play areas, and a domed skyline memorial known as the Ashton Memorial. This Grade 1 listed structure was built in the early 20th century in memory of James Williamson's late wife. Visitors can also enjoy coastal views across Morecambe Bay and Fylde Coast.
Definitely one of the best parks in the UK. It has a mini zoo (with small admission fees) inside with animals kept with care. Our son loved the mini zoo and the butterfly gallery. The view is scenic, and perfect to have your packed lunch. There is also a lovely cafe on top of the hill inside the park (and the coffee is great). Public toilets are also available. If you are planning to visit Lancaster, this place is worth the price and time. There is a direct bus from the city centre (near the station). So, if you don't have a car, the public transport is good enough to make the trip.

A wonderful place to spend a day or a few hours! The park is perfect for walking and relaxing, with beautiful paths, ponds, and even a mini zoo. Families will love the playgrounds, and everyone can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The views from the park are absolutely spectacular, especially around the Ashton Memorial. If you’re visiting Lancaster without a car, it’s easy to reach by taking bus number 18 from the city centre. Highly recommended for a relaxing day out. 🌿✨

It's a lovely space to enjoy. The butterfly house contains all the gorgeous creatures and tropical plants for everyone to admire. There are lovely quiet space to sit and rest to enjoy the views. I moved here alone and Williamson Park is my favourite local comfort venture!

A well kept secret in Lancashire!! A beautiful and well kept 54 acres park, so wonderful in the outskirts of Lancaster and so close to the university. The Ashton memorial is magnificent! The little zoo and butterfly house are a delight. A small fee to access the former and a parking fee for a whole day parking. Pack a picnic bag, take your friends, your pet, your loved ones, it will be a well spent day in this gorgeous place. A

The Ashton Memorial is a grand monument located in Williamson Park, Lancaster. This Baroque-style structure offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and serves as an events venue. The memorial stands out amidst the greenery and is a popular spot for visitors exploring the city. Nearby attractions such as Leighton Hall and Wolfen Mill provide additional options for leisure activities and accommodations, making it an ideal destination for weddings or weekend getaways with family and friends.
This amazing building in the top of the hill, beautiful in and out, the view is stunning to see the lake and mountains. So peaceful to walk around. There are also small events, you can find stands to have a coffee or an ice cream.

Very nice memorial located on the top of the hill. I would recommend getting a bus or a car to get here it was very painful to kinda hike. The scenery is very breathtaking it’s not crowded but seems like a popular family picnic place. The building itself seems to been very well managed 👍👍👍 Would recommend visiting when you are in Lancaster🤗

A beautiful landmark on a hill in Williamson Park. It offers breathtaking panoramic views across Lancaster and out to Morecambe Bay on a clear day. One of the things I love most is catching sight of its dome from different parts of the city.

The memorial is a beautiful building inside and out, with an added bonus of access to higher outside levels for panoramic viewing; this is accessed by staircases on either end of the building. The art inside, as well as the chandelier, is simply stunning. I would highly recommend the visit, and it's also a stones throw away from the butterfly house and play park for families.

A free attraction. Great views from the first level balcony. You can see as far at Blackpool Tower and the hills of the Lake District Unmanned when we went, not sure this is typical. Well worth the climb

Best place in Lancaster to spend a sunny (or rainy) afternoon. Great natural park, acres of lovely woodland walks with good paths (for children's buggies) but some with steps. Lake, fountains and waterfalls all built in to the natural landscape. Two children's play areas, butterfly house and insect house. Perhaps the best feature is the towering Ashton memorial, climb the 100 steps for a fabulous view over Morecambe Bay to the Lakes. Inside the folly which is round (and used for weddings) climb to the top putting a donation in the box. There is something for everyone.

This family-run establishment has been delighting visitors for over three decades, showcasing an impressive 40,000 square feet filled with 120 individual dealers.
Got myself a brand new double bed a sette and a wardrobe set for £590 including delivery. Plus this place is huge for all kinds of antiques and modern furniture, I spent just short of 4 hours here. Well worth a day trip, plus there is a lovely butchers and a clothing store plus a brewery all in the same area. Ample car parking for free.

This is a what could be called an "Antique Court" - many antique stalls under one roof, each stall selling particular type of items or pieces. One needs to spend hours and would certainly unearth Very rare and a bargain is guaranteed. On the whole a Nice place to visit . The drawback we noticed was some of the items bad gathered dust and dirt maybe by just lying there for Long time.

Excellent place to while away the hours if you like antique emporiums , absolutely huge , loads to look at with multiple dealers inside. Ample parking , clean modern toilets on site , lots of other businesses close by to peruse , the Traditional butchers is an absolute must visit . The scotch eggs and sausage rolls are fantastic . Cafe,s and a Brewery on site .

I love this warehouse of wonders. I'm slowly kitting out my whole house with really good quality furniture at very affordable prices. You can spend hours browsing and if there's anything at all you need, you'll find it here. We even picked up some free chairs this time to go with a lovely £15 table. The staff are always really helpful too.

Located in Lancaster, The Dukes is a versatile arts venue offering a theatre in the round, cinema, comedy stage, cafe/bar, and gallery. It stands out as the only producing theatre in Lancashire and presents two annual theater productions along with various comedy, dance, and music performances.
Great little place - visited to watch a film. Helpful friendly staff and lovely bar/ foyer area with a good selection of drinks and snacks. The theatre itself is nice, good view from all seats and good sound quality. I will definitely come here again, local parking is a challenge but not impossible.

Superb little independent cinema and arts centre, with a tiny bar and lounge, what could be better? Came here on a Sunday to watch a film to top off a lovely afternoon in town. Cinema was clean, comfy, the screen a decent size, and the projection quality was good. All the staff were friendly, and fellow cinema goers were polite and quiet during the showing. It was like how I remember going to the pictures used to be in the 90s. Looking at the showing guide, there's a really eclectic mix of films, and I'm planning future trips when I'm in town. If I lived closer, I would come here all the time!

A lovely independent cinema. I have been visiting here for many years now and always receive excellent service. All prices are reasonable and the cinema is clean and well kept. Every month there is a ‘mystery film’ which I would highly recommend. I have seen some amazing films I would otherwise never have seen. If you are in Lancaster I would recommend visiting for either the cinema or live shows.

Welcoming staff, comfy seats. I didn't have any refreshments but the lobby is very spacious and there's a few tables to use if you need though they were all full when we arrived. Toilets are clean but feel a little dated (sort of remind me of school for some reason)

Nestled in the charming seaside town of Morecambe, the Lancaster Grand Theatre is a historic gem that has been captivating audiences since its inception in 1782. Designed by the renowned Frank Matcham, this Grade II listed venue showcases a blend of amateur drama, music, dance, and professional performances. With its rich heritage and stunning architecture, it stands as one of England's oldest theatres and continues to play a vital role in Lancaster's cultural scene.
I'm ashamed to say that we lived in Lancaster for five years in the 80s and did not know about this theatre..... We came back for a visit to the fantastic music Festival and did the Grand Theatre Tour. It was absolutely wonderful. Our guide gave us a half-hour fascinating talk about the history of theatre in England and the history of this theatre in particular and then we got to stand on the stage and see all the riggings and stage stuff, and then the dressing rooms which have been populated by so many famous actors and comedians over the years. A lovely break for coffee and biscuits (chocolate hob-nobs - yum!) was followed by a look at the prop store which was also fascinating! A great hour and a half and worth £5 of anybody's money! Thanks to the theatre tour guides and staff. We had a wonderful visit. Jon

A nice little theatre, in desperate need of a new foyer, as it can get quite tight when punters start mingling. The toilets and bars are pretty satisfactory, but the seats can be a bit uncomfortable for the larger, and longer legged audience member.

Great fun at Northern Live Do I Love You last night. Danced at the side of the seating all night! Highly recommended stalls seating 17 & 18 if you want to dance!!

Great small venue. Friendly and helpful staff. View from our upper level seats was fine. Drinks and snacks not as overpriced as in many venues. Plenty of parking in that area of town. Rather small circulation spaces outside the auditorium make the interval and arrival less relaxed than in other venues and the toilet facilities could do with an update. That said, it's a venue we'd happily return to

It's a lovely little theatre with a lot of history. I've seen many shows here over the years. It's just the right size to be part of an enthusiastic audience but not be too crowded. Seating is a little cramped, or cosy, depending on your point of view.

Beautiful centre. The gift shop is excellent and staff are friendly. Great parking, well priced plants. The cafe was a bit noisy for my taste…so we sat outside.

We used to visit often but don’t tend to go as much anymore. The coffee is always nice but the cake selection has rarely changed in the last 10 years and could do with freshening up. Varying the specials wouldn’t go amiss either. Don’t go for lunch anymore as it’s slightly on the expensive side for what you get. Nice that it’s dog friendly though

This is our new favourite place to eat: Lovely setting and really nice sunbathed dining area - with floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the outdoor plants, that are set in a walled garden. There are wide choices of vegetarian food - there’s gluten free and vegan too, they seem very ingredient conscious. The main thing though is that the food is delicious - lovely place and great food. Fantastic 😊

Located in Lancaster's cultural Canal Quarter, The Quarterhouse is an intimate restaurant and bar that offers contemporary British cuisine, sharing plates, and brunch. As an independent, chef-owned kitchen and bar, it celebrates the heritage of the region through its seasonal menus that showcase locally sourced produce. Whether you're looking for a daytime meal or evening dining experience, The Quarterhouse has you covered with its diverse menu options.
The food was delightful—creative, delicious, and thoroughly enjoyable. We had a great selection of nibbles and hot dishes, all of which we loved. The girl who served us was very sweet, and while her service was appreciated, we expected a slightly higher standard. She seemed a bit overwhelmed, and while listing ingredients is helpful, a more engaging and knowledgeable narration of the dishes would better reflect their exceptional quality. Otherwise, the food risks being undersold. Just a friendly suggestion.

Delicious spot for lunch! Outstanding little restaurant/brasserie/bistro spot with a small but very well executed menu. The food was some of the best I ate in Lancaster. Fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. The place is small but feels larger than it is and is very bright and airy. The quality of the staff matched the quality of everything else, top notch. Definitely check this place out if you're hungry in Lancaster. The Lancashire Benedict is highly recommended!!

Fantastic little restaurant. A little bit pricey, but if you want to treat yourself, it's well worth it. Food was fantastic, the ginger loaf with the goats curd was fantastic. I would suggest getting the veg with the mackerel but overall worth the walk to get. The star reduction was because they forgot my Americano at the end. In summary, if you're in the area and stuck with were to go I would say you should go and try!

We were really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately it turned out to be far too expensive for what was on offer. Even with the early bird deal, it still didn’t feel like good value. To be clear, we were aware of the prices beforehand and we would have been happy to pay that, but sadly the quality of the food just didn’t justify the cost. It’s clear they’re trying hard to create something special, but sadly they’re missing the mark and it was very average. On a positive note, the staff were lovely and the restaurant itself was nicely presented - but overall, the food simply isn’t worth the money.

Recommend the vinho verde with food, any dishes! Great food, the wild pigeon was fantastic as well as all the dishes in the pictures. The oysters are fresh and the supplier is great. Had my birthday meal here and I loved it, only recommendation is a bigger deal with birthdays, maybe a glass of Prosecco upon arrival. This detail didn’t make my experience worse, I had a lovely time!

We visited the Quaterhouse last night and really enjoyed our meal. The cocktails were very nice, we particularly enjoyed the summer sangria. We ordered 5 small plates and 3 sides which was a good amount for the 2 of us. We really liked the pressed potato chips, king prawns and garlic French toast however this was a bit spicy! There were a few things that could be improved. The toilet needed a bit of work, there wasn’t a coat hook for example and some of the finishes were worn down. We were also given a dirty knife and they didn’t have the scallops which was disappointing and we were told until after we had ordered. At the end of our meal we saw someone order the surf and turf which looked amazing. We would order that if we were to return. Overall a lovely meal, with a few tweaks it would be excellent.
Bethan G — Google review
We've been trying to cut down on our meat intake so were happy to see plenty of veggie options on the menu. Ordered the mushrooms on toast, and of course, they weren't just any old mushrooms on toast. The homemade Romesco sauce offered a delicious twist. Cooked to perfection. Super reasonable as well. We would definitely recommend!

Food is exceptional. You need to order 3 or 4 dishes , like a tasting menu. Items will be cooked and served at different times as prepared. The menu changes over time so there is often variation. Have been there 4 times now and every time the food has been outstanding. Totally recommend.

The Four Meat Carvery is a must-try, featuring quality meats from their butchery. While the restaurant can get busy and some areas may feel crowded, the friendly staff and excellent food make it a worthwhile visit.

Visited today for the first time and won't go again. Slow service just to get a cup of coffee. I've had meals produced faster. The coffee was nice but a bit on the expensive side. We were going to eat there but figured he a coffee took this long maybe we wouldn't bother. Not a great menu anyway. Didn't see any gluten free menus either. BÜRGSHAKE is a must-visit spot that exceeds expectations with its deliciously cooked burgers that are not overwhelming like typical diner fare. The option for curly fries adds to the experience, and the staff are friendly and helpful. While some may wish for slightly more seasoning, overall it's an amazing place to dine. This local business comes highly recommended for its impressive offerings.
I had a really good experience at Burger Shake in Lancaster. I ordered wings and a waffle, both of which were tasty and well-prepared. The staff was friendly and even brought out a complimentary chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, which was a nice touch. Definitely worth a visit for good food and great service.

Ordered through Lancaster and Morecambe Eats. There was a 40% off discount but I’m not sure it was even worth that money. I ordered a double smashed cheeseburger and loaded fries. The loaded fries were nice but everything was cold, also I didn’t expect the smashed patties to be paper thin.

When the delivery driver asks you how long you’ve been waiting for your food, the answer is indefinitely : too long. I wanted to try this spot being a uni student, and had read that delivery times were an issue for other customers. I too ran into this problem, my order placed at 9.25, arrived 1 hour late at 11pm. I had to ring, just to make sure my order hadn’t been forgotten! They mentioned they were waiting on a driver which can’t be helped and some credit must be given for that. However, when it appears there is a consistent issue with delivery, and the problem is not solved, (I’ve never had to wait 1 hour for a driver on other Deliveroo deliveries) I have to ask: how does this business operate? Seemingly, with little care for the time of their customers. The food itself was okay, hence the 3 stars, some freezer items, the chicken burger was nice. However everything was oddly spicy, which crept up on me through eating and make the experience less enjoyable. Not sure how or why this happened. I believe this place could be better, if the wait time was adequate. If the food itself was worth waiting until 11pm (way past dinner time - even for a uni student) then perhaps I’d be less peeved about waiting. However, I will be sticking to Sultans from now on, whose food is much better quality, and wait time much more reliable.

More like 0 stars. Disgusting!!!! Ordered a kebab and when it arrived it was evident that the meat was not fresh and just heated up in the microwave. Disgusting is an understatement. Advertising is so fake as well. Their food looks nothing as advertised. Didn't get a refund for my food and they never picked up the phone. Do not come here.

Ordered through Lancaster & Morecambe eats app, at around 1900, the app said 45 minutes, but food didn't arrive until about 2100. I tried to call restaurant, but no answer. When the food arrived, it wasn't very warm, and I was fairly underwhelmed with the size, considering the price. The food was tightly screwed up in tin foil, which had an unappetising result. Burger meat had a bit of a weird taste, as though it might have been nearing the end of its shelf life. Wasn't abysmal, but pretty disappointed, will avoid in future.

Pizza restaurant
Pizzetta Republic offers delectable and fresh cuisine with prompt service. The staff is exceptionally courteous and amiable. The caffe bar serves high-quality hot beverages, and the team ensures impeccable presentation of both food and drinks. The dining area emanates a cozy and inviting ambiance. Situated within the university, this establishment provides delicious fare at affordable prices, including vegetarian options. Their scrumptious pizzas and garlic bread are particularly noteworthy, complemented by an extensive selection of drinks and desserts.
Freshly made pizzas and honestly really good. Theres lots of deals with fries so it becomes cheaper. I like the create your own one too for flexibility. Its honestly pretty good and a lot better than others. Love stopping here when I’m on campus, its a good treat. Fries aren’t better than Sultans but I’m here for the pizza

As you can see by the picture, the coffee is by far the best on campus, the music provides a lovely, calming atmosphere. Pizza is very tasty with a generous selection of condiments. The staff are generally friendly apart from the one barista lady who has the worst attitudes I’ve come across. Don’t get me wrong, she makes excellent coffee but customer service is just as important as a good coffee. It seems that she thoroughly dislikes being there and would rather be elsewhere, not serving us. As another side note, greater access to charging points would be helpful instead of having only one table that you can work from.

This place is one of the go to spot for Lancaster students. Atmosphere just feels like you are in cozy home! I always get energised by the place.

It's such a nice place to grab some delicious food at a reasonable price inside the university. Most importantly they have vegetarian options available. Their pizza's and garlic bread are just awesome. They have a variety to offer in terms drinks and desserts as well. Also they have amazing meal deals.

I love this place! It has very friendly staff and the set up is great! There's a mixture of leather sofas and tables and chairs, as well as outdoor seating. The pizzas are great and are at affordable prices, and the cakes they have on display always look great. I'm never disappointed here!
JKK — Google review
Utterly disappointed with my order today, chicken wings have probably been reheated few times and tasted like they are two days old, overcooked and hence burnt, and the burger tastes absolutely useless with totally dry bun which seems expired.
Faizan K — Google review
Nice atmosphere and setting. Pizza was OK but clearly was using lower quality cheese and tasted what you'd expect from a pizza and burger takeaway you can find all over the place. For being on campus the ease of access is good however, there are much better options in Lancaster.
Matthew J — Google review
I quite liked this restaurant before cuz the food was nice for the price. BUT this time when I came, the chicken were not crispy any more and even RAW inside!!! I complained to the staff and he gave me another 8 chicken BUT some were still raw inside!!! I felt VERY DISAPPOINTED about the cooking. I know the restaurant is so busy now cuz all students come back on campus. BUT it doesn’t mean that the food quality should be affected!!! Won’t try chicken here any more. My appetite was totally ruined.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Salt Ayre Leisure Centre. Not quite as popular as Williamson Park, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Salt Ayre Leisure Centre is a fantastic destination for families, offering a wide range of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained. The Energy soft play center provides a fun environment for children to climb, bounce, and enjoy slides. Additionally, there are arts and crafts sessions for creative minds as well as a mini golf course suitable for all ages. The center also boasts Europe's first Gravity Outdoor Flight Tower along with indoor climbing walls and a spacious soft play area.
What a great place! We booked the climbing wall for our two children (10 &5). We hadn't visited before, and travelled from Preston. I was really impressed with the whole set up, the leisure centre is spotless throughout and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. We used the cafe whilst we were there and the soft play area. Would definitely book again. The free car park is a great bonus too!

Excellent all round, from the facilities to the staff. New favourite place. Grace from the Gym Team introduced me to the gym and took me through my induction today: an important first step for me, I wanted to make sure I felt safe and supported as I took my first steps back into training after years of neglecting my fitness and taking it for granted. The reception team couldn't have been more friendly, welcoming and efficient. Any nerves I might've had settled quickly as a consequence. The machines have moved on a lot since I last saw the inside of a gym! Really impressed by the quality and the range of equipment on offer. Grace was enthusiastic, patient with my questions (I had plenty), informative and knowledgeable. It was important to me to feel like I was being properly listened to and that any concerns I had were addressed thoroughly. I have a long journey ahead, intend on taking it slow and steady and am prepared for building new habits: training as I will be will a low-level knee injury, it means a lot to know there are qualified, experienced PTs like Grace and the team on hand to support me when I need them. The first of many high quality gym sessions under my belt today. Looking forward very much to the next visit. Thanks everyone.

I often visit with my children at weekends, but for the second time I’ve had to listen to inappropriate language from the kitchen, including badmouthing other members of the team!! It’s rude, unprofessional, and embarrassing — especially in a family café where children are present. A lovely setting, but the lack of basic manners really lets it down…
Claire W — Google review
Visit here often with my 2 children, we use the swimming, indoor & outdoor play areas. All runs very well and is nice and clean. Today my son tripped and fell outside and had a few nasty grazes on him. A lovely lady called Lucy helped with great care and professionalism whilst administering first aid and patching his wounds. Thank you Lucy.
Steven T — Google review
My first time visiting today , staff were great even sorted me out with a locker as I didn’t have a pound . I will definitely be using the pool again thank you
Michelle L — Google review
I visited this gym three times using the pay-as-you-go option (£11.80 per session), which I found quite expensive for what’s essentially a standard gym visit. The gym itself is well-equipped, clean, and the machines are in good condition. However, every visit was during peak times, and the weight area was consistently overcrowded. Many users occupied machines for long periods while on their phones, making it difficult to complete a proper workout. I’d strongly recommend going early in the morning or around 2 PM for a quieter experience. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful throughout. Overall, I’m giving 4 stars due to the busyness during peak hours and the high PAYG cost. I wouldn’t recommend the PAYG option unless you’re visiting off-peak
Jake — Google review
I signed up here specifically for Body Combat classes as I loved the idea of them and Jaimee who leads the class is remarkable! She’s so motivating and doesn’t stop! Highly recommend if you want to get fit and toned
Marie S — Google review
Would not recommend- the gym it’s self is over crowded. After signing up and being bound to a year long contract I was advised “not to even bother coming after 5pm”. Which for many working people the evening is a common time to attend the gym. Had I been given that information prior to signing up I would not have made such a commitment. Unhygienic facilities in the pool and changing rooms. They will entice members with incentives when recruiting for memberships then revoke these without notification. Plenty of better alternatives gyms in the area.

Bridge
Historical landmark
Lune Aqueduct, a historic stone-arch structure completed in 1797, offers scenic walking paths and panoramic views of the River Lune. The aqueduct is constructed from ashlar sandstone and provides a unique industrial architectural heritage experience. Visitors can take a riverside footpath/cycle path to reach the aqueduct, which includes an ascent via a staircase to the towpath of the Lancaster Canal.
A very cool marvel of engineering and a valuable piece of history. It was a bit of a glum day when I visited but it's still very cool and a dramatic location. Probably looks amazing on a day with good weather and nicer lighting! Stairs up and down between the river paths and the viaduct can be quite slippery in wet weather, so be careful!

Beautiful view, parking can be tricky to find but you can either park in a housing estate and walk up or by mcdonalds. Glad I visited, although it was wet and windy. Unless your kayaking, running or going for a long walk, it seems to be more of a quick stop to see the beautiful roman tyle aqueduct and view of the hills, could be very pretty at sunset.

Specialty Museums
Nestled in the heart of Lancaster, the Lancaster City Museum is a treasure trove of history housed within the stunning former town hall, an exquisite Georgian structure built between 1781 and 1783. This Grade II* listed building showcases not only its architectural beauty but also serves as a portal into the rich tapestry of Lancaster's past. Visitors can explore diverse exhibits that delve into social and industrial history, alongside archaeological finds that reveal stories from centuries gone by.
Interesting museum and it's free! Mix of local history through the centuries, with models to bring it to life. Good for all ages. Give yourself half an hour to look round. No cafe but plenty in the vicinity (you can't take drinks in though).
Zee N — Google review
The museum is small but nicely organised. I wish they had more space. Some parts seemed too cramped - a little more space would give the visitors the scope to stop for some moment and enjoy the tide against time. Also, a small part with a cafe or a lunch space would have been great. All these were missing. There was an entrance fee of £8 for two adults. No need to book beforehand. You can book when you arrive. But, this was the first museum we paid for a ticket (compared to dozens others in the UK and the USA). My feeling is: the Lancaster city council needs to spend more after their Museum. It's a part of your history. And there are scopes you can make it better. Overall experience: okay. Not bad. Not satisfied either.
M U — Google review
Lancaster City Museum is a charming place right in the heart of the city. It's not big, but it offers a rich glimpse into Lancaster's history, from Roman times to today. The building itself is beautiful, the exhibits are clear and engaging, and it's free to enter. A lovely spot to explore when walking through the city centre.

Brilliant value for money, £8 for 2 adults as part of their deal. It was just a lovely place to visit. Learnt a few things about Lancaster that I didn't before and found it interesting. Staff excellent and nice little gift shop as well. Free to enter if you are a local resident of Lancaster too.

Lancaster Maritime Museum

Museum
Lancaster Maritime Museum is a restored warehouse building that offers a glimpse into the area's 18th-century shipbuilding and seafaring past. Visitors can step aboard a full-size Lancaster Packet Boat, experience the bustling Lancaster Canal during its prime, learn about the fishing industry along the coast, and explore the perils of crossing Morecambe Bay's shifting sands.
A very informative museum housed in the splendour of the former Customs House and top floor of an adjacent warehouse. The information is well presented, and there is a lot to read (it took me two hours as I wanted to read everything!). At the height of the slave trade, Lancaster was the fourth most important port connected to it. It's interesting to see how the maritime history of Lancaster created so much of what you can see in the current city. There's more about crossing Morecambe Bay before the railway arrived, the local canal, the offshore gas field, fishing, cockles, shrimps, boat building, etc. A museum that's well worth a visit.
David G — Google review
Such a shame the museum is only open weekdays from 12:00 noon Monday & Friday (as well as weekends). The staff are so knowledgeable they certainly add to any visit here. Highly recommended and free entry to local residents.
Mark N — Google review
A lovely museum to visit. Lancaster Maritime Museum is small but full of fascinating history and stories about the city's connection to the sea. The displays are wel presented, and it's a peaceful place to spend an hour or two. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Lancaster.
Ali A — Google review
This is a lovely museum with some history of the fishing and ship building industries in the local area, as well as a collection of very old coins and artifacts. It's very well done and quite engaging, with a film that explains some local history. The star of the show for me was the series of black and white photographs of fishermen and people from the canals. I am assured that a proper exhibition is on its way.
Robin C — Google review
Really good afternoon out with children. Lots of history of Lancaster & Morecambe Bay area, the boats, trade & disasters. Information on Viking & other silver hoards found locally, plenty of activities. Free to local residents, limited on-road parking. Highly recommended.
Gill C — Google review
Amazing museum to visit. Very interesting and informative displays, friendly and helpful staff and nice gift shop. Definitely must visit
Alena — Google review
Cheap to get in, parking at rear. Point off for the room next to the slavery room which featured “famous” black people from Lancaster. It’s like they thought after the slavery, they had to be apologetic or something and include this room when it should have been just famous people from Lancaster regardless of colour. Toilets in the main building, gift shops and snacks.
Missy B — Google review
Excellent Maritime museum. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable and suggested watching the film show in the Warehouse first. This was a great idea to get background on the area and history of the site. Great exhibits, especially the art exhibition of the local fishing industry. Well worth a visit.

Lovely, clean and fun soft play, book in advance to be sure of entry. Lovely range of food. Really thoughtful and helpful staff. Very attentive and friendly. My 4yo and 6yo had a great visit. Worth the drive in the rain from Lakeland haven!

The guy that works here is brilliant. He saw my little lad very nervous to use his own card and buy an ice cream. He followed him back to our table and reassured him, and helped him buy his first ice cream. I've been to giggles a few times and this guy stands out. He always gives everything his 150%, and always has patience of a saint. Giggles are extremely lucky to have him as an employee. ✴️

Arrived at 11.50 with my granddaughter under 2, we had travelled. We were shunned away with faceless arrogance, saying no, next session starts at 14.00, we went away had a meal elsewhere and came back at 13.30. I went inside and great to see they were cleaning between sessions. I shouted over to a young guy to ask if there were any walk ins, he was about to politely answer then a woman just shouted at me. No walk ins. Terrible customer service, my daughter told me she went on a school day and was treated with the same arrogance. On the plus side, the cafe, ice cream parlour and the factory shop that are "next door" to Giggles are superb in every way and the woods next door are a lovely little walk. Was looking forward to my granddaughter enjoying Giggles, but will not be trying again

Worst experience I’ve had and I’ve been to multiple play centres with my baby. Travelled over an hour and a half on holiday just to walk in and not even be acknowledged by the young woman at the desk who has an face as if she clearly doesn’t want to be there. Awful atmosphere and workers need to learn basic communication and professionalism. Walked out straight away. Will never return, no wonder the place was almost empty.

French restaurant
Bed & breakfast
Quite Simply French is a charming restaurant and hotel located in a 1700s quayside warehouse in Lancaster. Since 1996, it has been known for its exquisite French cuisine with an emphasis on fish dishes. In 2019, the establishment expanded to include four elegant rooms nestled within the historic building. The accommodations feature designer furnishings, luxurious amenities, and a romantic ambiance.
Overnight business stay, so not target demographic. The room was amazing. No tiny detail was overlooked in making the room the best of this type of boutique hotel. Too many cushions and overpowering air freshener, but this is my personal taste. Didn’t try the food as my business budget wouldn’t stretch to the high prices. Sure it would have been lovely though. Friendly check in and easy on street parking.

Superb !! Firstly, a fantastic restaurant. Staff are are all brilliant, friendly yet very professional giving a chilled atmosphere while serving beautiful, delicious French cuisine. The rooms ! We stayed a couple of nights and the room was fabulous. Spacious, comfortable, separate access from the restaurant. The team made our stay comfortable and relaxing. 👍🏼👍🏼 QSF overlooks the river and is a short walk from the town centre, making it a great alternative to any chain hotel group. This is a beautiful boutique experience..

Very much enjoyed my visit to QSF. Beautifully decorated restaurant, welcoming staff who were friendly and efficient. The food was exceptional. Nice range of cocktails and wine. Highly recommend if you're looking for something a bit different and enjoy fine dining
Stuart H — Google review
My now-husband and I decided to host our wedding weekend at QSF, meaning we stayed in the rooms AND had both breakfasts and a dinner reception all at QSF. I truly cannot fault a single thing. Everything, from the overall experience to the most minute detail was amazing. Rob and Laura are fantastic hosts, considerate and kind. They thought of everything and helped us through any of the stressors of the weekend (booking cabs, planning room turnovers, receiving the cake, setting the table with flowers, etc.). The entire staff was helpful and pleasant, and we couldn't have asked for a more thoughtful place to stay. On top of the great service, the food and venue were just excellent. The rooms are immaculately presented and just lovely to stay in. The dining is pleasant all the way from breakfast to dinner, with plenty of options for everyone. QSF is a must-try if you're in the area. We will be lifelong customers and can't wait to return!

Wow 🤩 been wanting to try this place for a while. Tried to book a table before but booked up so was happy when we got in and wow I can see why it’s so popular. The food and service here are second to none. From the moment you step you feel like your the only ones being looked after it feels that personal id mentioned it was our anniversary and when we are arrived we had a table with balloon all set up. Just stunning. 😍 I had the scallops to start and the surf and turf for main and this is what you call surf and turf absolutely beautiful hubby had frog left to start and the Beef bourguignon he said was delicious and plenty full We shared the dessert which £4 also went to a local charity this was so nice to see. We were both so full afterwards had to go home for a lie down 😂 The prices absolutely reflect the standard and quality of the food 👌🏼 We cannot wait to come back soon!! Thank you all for a wonderful memorable anniversary ♥️

Quite simply excellent - huge, classic French dishes cooked to perfection, served in the best setting in Lancaster, with genuinely friendly staff, at a ridiculously good price (esp if you go between 5 and 6). Quite Simply French is simply the best Boutique Hotel we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. We love this place so much we have stayed here on four separate occasions. We keep returning as we can never find anywhere else that has it all as QSF does. The rooms are sumptuous and the best room (The Ashton) is the one you can bring your four legged friend to! Such a bonus. We've always taken the Dinner Bed and Breakfast package. The food and wine lists, cocktails are beautifully made and are excellent quality. The package is amazing value for money IMHO. The breakfast is second to none, so much care and attention to detail in every aspect of this Hotel. We can't thank Laura, Sammy & Rob enough for looking after us and wee Scoobi with such care. They all go the extra mile to make you stay special! You guys make an amazing place Quite Simply Outstanding

Lovely brunch spot. One of my top recommendations for somewhere to go for great French toast in Lancashire… menu changes seasonally and always has some great options Although I’m sure they once served us half a French toast each and charged full price… but that’s the only time out of lots of visits where it’s not been 10/10

Enjoyed a lovely brunch this weekend at Journey Social. I had the Satay Chicken Flatbread, and my partner had the Bacon Chop Benedict. We were both really impressed: generous portions, plated beautifully, wonderfully seasoned and flavoursome. We also had some great drinks - a really good iced matcha, and a delicious homemade elderflower and passion fruit lemonade. The table service was super friendly and wasn't overly fussy. Highly recommend this place, and looking forward to a return visit next time we're in Lancaster.

We came in literally 5 minutes before the kitchen closed, but the staff were super friendly and welcoming not like some places where you feel rushed at the end of the day. We ordered the avocado toast, halloumi brunch, and fresh orange juice everything was fresh and delicious! Also we were travelling and our powerbank was dead, plus there was no plug nearby. The staff were so kind and found us a plug so we could charge our phone right at the table. Little things like that really make a difference. If I’m ever back in Lancaster, I’ll definitely come again not just for the tasty food but for the lovely people too!

Lovely building. Reservation recommended. Fine dining Indian style. You can tell the food was cooked if not prepared that day. After eating their nan bread cooked in an oven you'd not want to go back to store bought. The menu details the ingredients and you can taste it. Lots of meat in their curries and good size portions. The waite staff are impeccable and attentive.

Good food, great ambience. Portion sizes are slightly less comparatively but no compromise on taste and hospitality. Overall, a good place to eat.

As someone with a severe peanut allergy, eating out can often be a stressful experience — but this restaurant completely put me at ease. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive, understanding, and reassuring about my dietary needs. They took my allergy seriously and made sure I felt safe and informed every step of the way. I’ve traveled and dined at many places around the world, and I can honestly say the service here is unmatched. It’s rare to find a place that combines such genuine care with exceptional food and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone — especially those with allergies who usually find dining out a challenge. This place sets the standard!

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's, a renowned and enduring fast-food chain celebrated for its delectable hamburgers and fries, boasts an aesthetically pleasing website and scrumptious fare. Nonetheless, numerous instances of omitted items in drive-through orders have been reported recently, prompting customers to backtrack on their journey. While the establishment promptly rectifies these errors, such behavior is perceived as unprofessional and vexing. One cannot help but ponder how much food is needlessly wasted by those who opt not to return.
This is now my go-to McDonald's after previously having awful experiences at the other McDonald's in Lancaster town centre where the staff are rude, the food is awful, the place is always filthy and fights always break out with the teenagers who are always hanging around in there. This McDonald's couldn't be further from that. I've had three visits over the past two weeks and it is always clean, even when exceptionally busy. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is really nice. Your great service has now gained you a regular new customer (as I have recently got a job nearby).

Nice modern McDonald’s. Decent amount of parking and good sized drive through. Sausage and egg McMuffin meal was nice but the muffin was over roasted and crispy. Also have McDonald’s changed their tomato sauce was a bit tangy.

Not even worth a single star. I placed my order through the app and checked in while waiting in a long queue. They had plenty of time to prepare just two cheeseburgers, yet I still had to wait an unnecessarily long time. In the end, I had to get out of my car and go inside the shop to collect my order myself. And it was already cold.

I have to say, I personally don't like McDonald's, but the grandkids love it and when I take them out we always end up at McDonald's. This particular one was very clean, which is something I can't say about some of the ones we've been in The staff were courteous and helpful and the kids nuggets and burgers were gone in a short space of time. I've noticed now in all your establishments you have to ask for milk, sugar, salt but the young lady serving was helpful and nothing was to much trouble I would recommend this establishment to all McDonald's lovers

Having just visited the drive thu , I placed the order using the app , when I drove round to pay , the operative took the a Payment on my Apple Pay , which went through , the operative then said the computer had crashed , and I needed to process the payment method again , when I questioned that he said he would get a manager . The manager arrived , he said the payment would not go through , has the computer was continually crashing , and the specialists were looking into it , and if we did not pay again , we would not get the food .

I recently attended this location with my 3 children, while present one of my children was injured after tripping over (his own fault) Unfortunately the injury sustained required hospital treatment. The staff on site were fantastic and came to our aid and provided initial first aid. All were calm and helpful and extremely professional and ensured that my child was okay. Thank you for all your help on the day, your customer service went above and beyond what I would have expected. Not living in Lancaster it can be quite stressful when something like this occurs and not knowing anything about hospital locations, you staff fully informed me of where I needed to go making the whole process a lot easier. When travelling again we will certainly be returning and using this restaurant as a stop for food. Thanks again for everything you did for my family and I

M&S Simply Food in Skipton is highly praised for its exceptional staff who go above and beyond to assist customers. The store is known for its high-quality food, although it may be a bit pricey. Customers appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, despite occasional frustrations with checkout queues. The store's well-organized layout and great selection of food and drink make it a recommended shopping destination. Additionally, the store has received positive feedback for providing assistance during emergencies near the premises.
First time of trying this dish, bought for me by my friend, it was delicious, would definately have another.

The amount of dressing I received in the chicken Caesar (Augustus) salad was quite frankly astonishingly sub par. I would also kindly recommend that the CC(A)S comes with olive oil, salt and black pepper as per the Gordon Ramsay standard. Honestly, if I'm buying M&S, I expect M&S and that's final.

Love M&S, but really... who doesn't! Food quality is great, albeit on the pricey side - having said that, you do get what you pay for! Staff are friendly, just sometimes the queues at the tills are a little frustrating.
David H — Google review
Only self service checkouts open. Only 1 of them takes cash (I'm not putting a 65p bottle of water on my card) and the staff look at you stupid when you ask them to open a till. I was told to wait beind 2 people struggling to operate the self serve till until the que got so big they had to actually start serving at a proper till.
Stephen S — Google review
The place is too small for the number of customers they receive, which leads to long queues at the tills and congestion on every aisle. The food is great, but a little pricey. The convenience food has all been moved to the back of the shop too, which leads to more congestion.

Poor management of keighley tk maxx store and sell faulty items. Purchased an item and gave it as a gift but binned the receipt, the item turned out to be faulty so I took it back to the store to get an exchange or refund. Manager denied that the product was sold at that store. As I didn’t have the receipt there was no evidence that I bought it however I gave the date and time of transaction so he could look on the system to find the transaction. He said there was “too many” transactions to look through and that it wasn’t part of his job to do this. Even more concerning, the manager told us to return on another day when he was not present, so that another staff member might assist me. As the store manager this was his duty to handle matters relating to faulty merchandise in a professional and responsible manner. Instead, he denied that the item had been purchased from the store and suggested that I return on a different day, at a time when he would not be working, in order to receive the assistance I was entitled to. This is not only an abdication of responsibility but a clear admission that he had no intention of dealing with my complaint properly. Following this unsatisfactory interaction, I contacted TK Maxx’s customer service team. Within minutes, the online support team, based near London, was able to locate the transaction without difficulty—something the store manager had claimed he was unable to do using his own system. His attitude was dismissive, uncooperative, and lacked even the most basic standards of customer service. As a paying customer, I expected to be treated with respect and for my concerns to be addressed professionally. Instead, I left feeling ignored, frustrated, and deeply disappointed by the conduct of someone in a managerial position. So much of my time has been wasted in this process which could've been dealt with if the manager did his job properly. I’m just glad the online team helped me out and reimbursed my money!

Lancaster Canal is a beloved destination for locals and university students, offering beautiful views and pleasant walks. It's conveniently located near the town center, providing an opportunity for picnics and leisurely strolls. The area is great for biking, hiking, and observing wildlife. In addition to nature trails leading to the Orchard, there are pubs and restaurants along the way. The canal offers diverse terrain, plant life, wildlife, and scenic views from Stainton down to Carnforth.
Had a lovely walk here on Easter Sunday and the weather was perfect. A really well looked after canal and surrounding area.

Wonderful place to get away from town closer to the nature. Good roads for bike rides and hiking. Lot's of wildlife too, if you pay close attention. In the summer great place also to find fresh and clean nettle for cooking. If you get tired, planty benches to get some rest or to have a picnic. Also you can turn to nature trail that will lead you to the Orchard. Will definitely recommend this walk to new visitors of Lancaster.

If you like nature and love walking the canal tow path is for you. I often walk the stretches around Lancaster, historic buildings line the canal through the city then rolling countryside and it's birds, animals and quiet out of town. There's also the odd hostelry to stop at for food and drinks.

Over 40 miles of lock free canal. Water levels are currently quite low and the section above Lancaster canal has a few narrow sections due to the reeds and low water levels.
Ian W — Google review
Great and easily accessed for walking and fishing. Paths are slippy and boggy in places if wet, but this doesn't detract from being out in nature. From Stainton down to Carnforth, this canal offered such a variety of terrain, plant life, wildlife and veiws. Food and drinks available at Longlands Pub at Tewitfield.

Lancaster Cathedral, also known as The Cathedral Church of St. Peter and Saint Peters Cathedral, is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture designed by E.G Paley. Upgraded to cathedral status in 1925, it is constructed from light sandstone and has undergone continuous improvements over the years. Renowned for its soaring spire reaching a height of 240 feet, the cathedral features stunning structures and artwork.
Lancaster Cathedral is a beautiful building, very peaceful, and welcoming. I sat down for over an hour. Set in a good location, easy to find, with plenty of parking a short walk away. Free entry, but you should always give a little donation. It's a small cathedral, but well laid out, with a good feeling about it.

We visited Lancaster Castle whilst visiting the area for the weekend. We decided to take the tour. £9 per adult. The tour was interesting. A look inside parts of the old prison & the courthouse. Apparently you can visit the police museum for free (which is inside part of the old male prison block) on one day during the week, but as we were here for the weekend, this wasn't accessible for us. There ware a lot of facts given by the tour guide. However the whole thing felt rushed & we weren't give time to read the information boards that were in the rooms. As you are not allowed to take photos in any of the areas that are within the court part of the castle, I couldn't even take a picture of the information boards to read later. This seems a poor design. Either places then somewhere where pictures can be taken, give tourists more time in the rooms to read them or put this information in a leaflet for people to read at their leisure. There's no point in having them as they are. There were regular tour throughout the day. I kinda wish we'd gone on the later one, as our guide was not very friendly. He was rather abrupt to several people. He made the tour a little uncomfortable & ruined the experience for us & others commented the same. However, I would say it is worth a visit.

check service times before your visit as you can not look around during mass (12.15-1) on the Tuesday we visited. They were tuning the organ when we finally went in so it was a flying visit, peaceful it was not. A nice building with a really stunning alter, the building is small for a cathedral so it won't take you long to visit. Theres parking available and full wheelchair access.

Lancaster Priory Church of Saint Mary, established in the Middle Ages, is renowned for its vibrant choral and organ concerts. Situated by the Castle on a hill, this 15th-century church boasts a rich history dating back to 1094. The interior showcases medieval elements such as Saxon doorways with Anglican cross fragments, 14th-century choir stalls, exquisite tapestries, and the Kings Own Memorial Chapel featuring historical regimental standards and battle honors.
Well preserved historic church that sits behind the walls of Lancaster Castle. From the grounds, you have a nice view overlooking the town and further afield. The church is simple and nicely decorated. Well worth a visit.

This was a surprising additional place to visit after leaving Lancaster Castle. This is a beautiful, atmospheric and tranquil church with lovely architecture and architectural detail, beautiful woodwork, hidden carvings and lots of really superb stained glass. Beautiful grade 1 listed priory church on the summit of Castle Hill looking over the city. Its thought that a Saxon church occupied the site in the C6th. Much of the later Medieval church remains today. Although it's free to enter and wander, a donation is certainly warranted. There's the fantastic King's Own Memorial Chapel, a C7th Saxon font, a carved stone pulpit dated 1619, Saxon carved stones, grave slabs and a replica of a runic cross found in the churchyard in 1807. The choirstalls, dating from 1340 are the third oldest in England.

Located in a refurbished 19th-century cotton mill warehouse next to Lancaster's main canal, The White Cross is a popular bar offering a wide selection of rotating beers from breweries within 40 miles. With its canal-side seating, it provides the perfect setting for enjoying an evening meal. The friendly staff and delicious pub-grub, including plenty of gluten-free options, make it a great place to unwind after exploring the city.
Hello, We celebrated the graduation of my daughter at this pub in the middle of July. The stuff was very helpful even we had to change the booking three times because of various reasons. We sat inside, the atmosphere was very cosy, quiet - not like in other pubs when you have to shout to let someone hear you. The food was excellent as well, we ordered a few starters and main course, then dessert. Didn't have to wait long time before it was served. The service was spot on! Starting from when we were welcomed at the entrance and the waitresses looking after us and our guest during all time when we were there! Even to the point when the waitress was apologizing for the service charge included and was emphasising that it was voluntary and could be taken off. I didn't mind, I think the stuff deserved the tips and even a bit more on top of it. Definitely great place to have a dinner, enjoy a time with friends and family and and eat some excellent food! Best regards, Rustam.

We were seated almost immediately, and the staff were all incredibly attentive to us. The staff in particular were very friendly, and knew their menu extremely well, and answered all of our questions with little hesitation. Our food was served promptly, and it was quite good. Everything costs us about £56 (2 main dishes, 1 soup, 1 side, 1 Guinness pint). [side note: we really enjoyed the guinness.]

We came for a lunch, meeting friends 1/2 way on a Saturday. The dining area wasn’t busy at all, and our server was fantastic. We had a lovely, relaxed lunch. A wide variety of food selections. Fish and chips, steak sandwich, super salad, curry and more. The seitan was probably the one thing that was a let down. The toilets could be a bit cleaner and better lit. Overall a good time, decent food, great service, and really good prices!

The Three Mariners in Lancaster is a classic stone facade outpost offering traditional pub dishes, real ales, beers, and assorted gins. Dating back to the late 1600s, it is one of the oldest pubs in Lancaster with a gravity-fed cellar. Throughout history, it has been part of Lancaster's rich heritage and has even housed Jacobite soldiers during troubled times.
A Proper Pub Done Right One of the best pubs around , just a solid pub with a great atmosphere. A strong lineup of craft beers with a few surprises on tap. It’s the kind of place you actually want to come back to. Proper pub, proper pints. 5 out of 5 star if not 6🍻

The food arrived and it was warm. Not hot. Only just passable. I had the steak pie but when it arrived it was not as described on the menu ( shortcrust pastry case) it was in a dish with a puff pastry top. Not really a pie. However, the staff were really nice. The service spot on I would suggest going for a beer pass on the food.

What a little gem! We stopped in for a random drink and were absolutely blown away—not only by the beautiful, historic building but by the whole experience. And well done to the chef, Anthony, for creating such a memorable tasting experience. Top marks all around!

What a friendly and lovely pub. The Irish barmaid was attentive and friendly and really made the visit worthwhile. She couldn't do enough for us, during our visit. I tried a variety of the great craft beers on offer and we also had food. The chicken roast dinner was excellent, as was the burger with cheese and bacon, which came with delicious home made chips, and coleslaw. Great food...great service...great beer. Pizza restaurant
If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, Pizza Hut Restaurants Kingsway Retail Park in Lancaster is a fantastic choice. This popular chain offers an array of pizzas, wings, pasta, and delectable sides and desserts. During my recent visit with my family after a long hiatus, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm hospitality from Yvonne, who went above and beyond to explain the buffet options and pricing.
We had a nice experience. Had booked for a birthday dinner. Table was ready when we arrived. Food was served very quickly. The salad bar had some empty spots that we told them and was filled up for us. We loved “The Goat” pizza, with cheesy bites. Claire & Anna served us nicely. Thank you
Zara E — Google review
Ordered via uber eats but there wasn’t a note section to change certain toppings. We rang the store to ask to take a topping off and the male was arrogant bordering on rude. I was polite and friendly but unfortunately didn’t get that attitude back. This guy is also a bully. Tried again and received a pizza with literally NO cheese.
Miss J — Google review
Always enjoy coming back here, never had any reason to complain. Staff always helpful and pizzas always top notch. Lunchtime buffet our main reason for visiting, just wish that they'd put a few more vegan pizzas out on the deck. It's card only inside as is cashless, they offer mobile ordering via a table top QR code as well.
Daniel B — Google review
I spent over £150 on pizzas during this visit, and sadly, the food didn’t live up to the usual Pizza Hut standard. The taste just wasn’t the same, and something was definitely missing. I had even travelled more than 45 minutes to get there, excited for what should have been a satisfying meal—but ended up feeling let down. I’m not blaming the staff at all; they were polite and helpful. My issue is purely with the quality of the food on this occasion. When you spend that much money and make that much effort, naturally, your expectations are high—and unfortunately, they weren’t met. I truly hope this was just a one-off experience, because I’ve always enjoyed Pizza Hut in the past. But this time, it just missed the mark
NMP V — Google review
We visited on an evening. We ate there and we also made a takeaway order. Service was great, including supplying help on how to order on the website as a particular offer was complicated to get. Food was OK. Just what you'd expect from Pizza Hut. Salad bar was well supplied. What was not great : the price. Even with offers, price of visiting Pizza Hut appears to have shot up and now comparable to some pubs with great food.
Pascal J — Google review
Pizza was average, the sides were nice. (Got cheese triangles) Salad bar has fruit flies surrounding the beetroot. There was no issues when i asked the lady for fresh beetroot. There was also a fly trap on top of the salad bar in attempt to hide it. Servers were lovely and very attentive.
Keisha S — Google review
Served by Lucy. The lady chef is really kind and nice. Manager was nice. Went for buffet. Check it out. Kids codes KEF3 for August unlimited drinks, pizza, salad and ice cream £3 for under 12. It’s a bargain. Place was clean and fast service.
Janthea C — Google review
Mediocre food at a premium price. What few staff there were, were friendly and welcoming though. Ordering online from a QR code that was barely holding on to the table was really inconvenient as the place was pretty much deserted. Definitely won't be visiting any of this chain's outlets again.

I visited with my friends yesterday and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were incredibly friendly, even offering advice on other places to visit afterward. They gave us a shot of their homemade limoncello, which was absolutely delicious! Thank you for being so welcoming.

Great little spot. Whenever we are in Lancaster we come here as our last stop, Tipple has a great vibe, the staff are brilliant and absolutely knowledgeable what they are doing. Super welcoming environment. We love it

Didn't eat but a late drink with our son visiting him at university. We have visited Tipple on many occasions when in Lancaster and certainly will again. Lovely place great service and atmosphere. Slight negative the toilets were unusually unkempt on this visit.
David O — Google review
Best cocktails in Lancaster and super service. Very knowledgeable lady behind the bar that put great effort into making our drinks and was chatty at the same time which was nice. It's table service. We were given a card to turn over when we wanted another drink which is a great idea and we received super quick service. I'm not keen on the high metal stools that are hard to get on if you are a shorter or 'larger' person and they make a lot of noise as they scrape on the floor or bang into the table legs. I would love to give 5 stars but sadly I've been to nicer looking places and had cheaper cocktails as good in other cities. Would be nice to see some other offers on the menu such as buy 1 get one for 1/2 price as they are very expensive when buying individually.
Jane — Google review
Lovely cocktail lounge spread over three floors. Short but exciting drinks menu. There is beer too if you are with a fancy drinker but prefer the simpler things. Prices are fair, but become great when you factor in how NICE the cocktails are. Fab stuff!
Sylvain S — Google review
We like to come here after a meal when we get the chance, always a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The staff are really knowledgeable about various drinks and even make adjustments to your taste when trying the drinks. We particularly liked our waiter tonight, really nice man. He was up and down the stairs all the time checking if we wanted more drinks and I noticed he was always cleaning and wiping communal areas a lot. Always impressed, will keep coming

It's an ideal spot for locals and visitors to enjoy fresh and flavorful sushi. The restaurant offers a wide-ranging menu at reasonable prices, making it perfect for a break from everyday dining or a casual meet-up with friends.
Tasty sushi and great ice cream, nice place to go to once in a while. Everything we ordered was fresh and portions were good enough for each person. I don't have much to say about the atmosphere, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Place was quite empty when we were there, so the wait time was not very long. Definitely worth checking out :)

Easily my favourite restaurant in Lancaster. The staff are friendly, the service is excellent, and the food is delicious! Can get a bit pricy if you're not careful. But I really would like to try one of everything from here, it's soo good!

Always wanted to go here every time we drive past so decided to go last night. Service was good, food was amazing, lots of choice…to hard to choose. Price is exactly what you would expect and are willing to pay…not too expensive depending what you order and how much of it you order.
Emily S — Google review
Amazing food and service. Always made to feel welcome, and I always look forward to visiting again. Sad to hear that this wonderful place is soon to close it's doors. Going to make the most of it, and have as much great food as I can.
Melody C — Google review
My favourite sushi experience. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is lovely. Even though it’s next to the road, you can’t hear the cars at all. The service is lovely too. I recommend the bento boxes. But it’s all so delicious. Perfect date sport or to get dinner with friends or family.
Anne B — Google review
There are very few types of sushi to choose from at conveyor belt sushi, literally only a few types of California rolls, Tamago Nigiri Sushi, Hokkigai Nigiri Sushi, Sake Nigiri Sushi and Crabstick Nigiri Sushi to choose from. Maybe because I came too early (I arrived at the restaurant at 12 o'clock), and the chef hadn't prepared more types of sushi. Each plate of conveyor belt sushi costs £2.50, but the size is small, the taste is not fresh and not worth the price. The curry sauce from Katsu Curry tastes like just made directly from House's バーモントカレー curry cubes, rather than cooking with your own spices like in Japanses restaurants. At the same time, the curry is not cheap either. I think to buy some バーモントカレー curry cubes and make curry by yourself at home will be better and cheaper tham coming to this restaurant. If you just want to experience the feeling of eating conveyor belt sushi, you can come to this restaurant. But not worth visiting again.

Great place for coffee/tea & cake or light snack/lunch. Vegetarian ; gluten free options, open 7 days a week. Tucked away in Bashful Alley just out of sight of the busy one-way system, no on-street parking, but car parks near by. A haven of quiet or a good place to meet up with a friend.

The personnel here are beautiful, the service was excellent, quick and efficient, and the meal was delicious. I can only presume our waiter to e the owner who was at our beck and call and provided 5 star service. My wife was likewise quite happy. Overall, a fantastic breakfast prepared by people who care about their customers!———————————————————————————— £12.95 for everything, including the tasty sausage which at the time of the picture was already in my stomach. We will definitely be returning! Thank you again, G&J

Just had a fantastic breakfast here. Had the vegetarian breakfast - generous portion and everything cooked well. Very reasonable price. Staff friendly and helpful. Tucked away inside a nice little alley too. Would come back!

Amazing, we'd been putting off going here for a while, and I've no idea why! The bagel was perfect, and the side salad was great, its hard to find a fault! If I was being picky, the tape holding the sofa together was a bit tacky. We ordered two bagels, two hot drinks and came to £23.70, considering the portion sizes this was amazing!

On a recent trip to Lancaster we found this delightful cafe on Bashful yard just off the main shopping centre. We enjoyed three visits during our stay. the breakfasts were cooked quickly to our liking and served by friendly welcoming staff.

A lovely cafe run by lovely people they made us feel very welcome, the young waitress is very attentive and cheerful and the breakfast we had was delicious well cooked and good portion size. I loved the pot of tea! It was made with real tea, such a change from dust filled tea bags. I will definitely come her again. First class all round.

Haven't been for a while because I haven't been to Lancaster. Whenever I'm in Lancaster though the Old Bell is always my first port of call. They make the best chocolate brownies I've ever eaten. Chinese restaurant
The Chinese restaurant Fortune Star is a casual and busy place that serves classic fare as well as hot pot and thick noodle specials. The staff are friendly and looked after the customers well. The portions were generous, and the food was cooked very well without any soy sauce or msg. This is a refreshing change, especially given the high prices of some restaurants. I look forward to returning to try some different dishes.
Went last night for an impromptu date night. Oh my god, the best Chinese me and my partner has ever tasted, and the waitress was just the sweetest lady too. We are returning for as a family again, and will never go anywhere else for a Chinese again!

Well we've been coming here for years whether for sit-in or take-away and never had anything but great, fresh cooked and tasty food. Slightly more spicy would suit me but obviously isn't for everyone. Seemed strangely quiet this last Sunday night but that just meant we got great service and food straight off the stove. Give it a try, you can see my daughter enjoyed it (and the sake and dad paying..)😀
Paul G — Google review
I have not been here in years so decided to try it for a take out as our usual was on hols. Have to say it was massively disappointing and the worst I have had in a long time. How disappointing the one takeout we have a month was this. I’m not one for leaving food but the salt and pepper chips were inedible to me, soggy and uncooked. The sweet and sour chicken had only onions in as veg and the rice was bland. The only plus side was the lovely lady who gave us the meal on pick up. She was happy and served with a smile. However, we won’t be returning.
Michael N — Google review
Beautiful food and I can honestly say that’s the owners are the most wonderful hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Fantastic with our children and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thank you so much for a fantastic dining experience.
Lucy C — Google review
Oh dear. What a shame. I have to say this was the worst Chinese meal I’ve ever had and, unfortunately, it was the same for the other 3 members of the group. The highlight was the lovely lady waiting on. Such a shame as it used to be a brilliant Chinese restaurant.
Jeanette M — Google review
Julia was as friendly and welcoming as when we first visited twenty-something years ago. The food was delicious. If there's anything you don't like (one of our party didn't like sweet peppers), it's not a problem, it's all made fresh and they can make it without. We over ordered and had to take the rest home - also, not a problem 😊

Café Dolce in Lancaster has garnered a dedicated following, with its flat white being a standout item on the menu. While some find it more similar to a latte, others appreciate its creamy and milky texture. Despite being a recent addition to the local café scene, Café Dolce offers an extensive menu of delectable food and beverages that have earned it high praise among locals. Visitors particularly enjoy the freshly brewed coffee and generous cake portions.
I love this cafe because they operated early in the morning. Very plus point for me and my family who is from Asian who look up for early halal breakfast. The staff were very nice and welcoming us. The menu selection is great so the food was amazing . I enjoy the ambience to relax here. Worth my penny 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amirul M — Google review
The prices are ridiculously high. The dishes are chipped and dirty - with prices like those it can’t be that difficult to replace them. Pancakes looked and tasted like store bought ones: we were able to finish them only because of whipped cream and strawberries. In full English breakfast the most delicious part was the beans (because they did not have to cook them themselves). The egg was like rubber drowned in oil, the mushrooms should have been cooked for longer. And everything lacked salt.
Alena — Google review
Café Dolce opens at 8 AM, which is both impressive and convenient. I tried their Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale — both were well-prepared and satisfying. I followed the meal with a coffee, which was decent. The service was decent and caring, and the café offers a clean, pleasant ambience. Overall, a solid experience

Lovely lunch today at Cafe Dolce! My friend has been here before and loved it so we decided to visit today! We got the Caesar salad and the goats cheese salad with some fries. It was delicious! Loved the interior and super friendly staff

The Cookies and Cream Milkshake was delicious, very smooth, and didn't contain any ice cubes (like most other places choose to do). I asked for sprinkles, but was given the wrong type, but it was good nonetheless. But due to the way you order your food, it's very likely someone will try to steal your seat.
