The Dune of Pilat, located in La Teste-de-Buch, is a 100m-high sand dune stretching 2.7km between the ocean and forest. Climbing to the top offers an astonishing view of Banc d'Arguin and the surrounding area. The dune also provides paragliding opportunities for adventure seekers. Visitors can enjoy nearby beaches like Le Petit Nice and La Lagune for a refreshing swim after their hike.
This was such a delight. We went to Bordeaux for wine tasting and we decided to go to the sea and vidit the Dunes. The Dunes are quite impressive and the contrast of sea, Dunes and forest a beautiful canvas. The walk from the parking and bus stop ( public transport does take you there) is super easy and highly recommended if you got time when visiting Bordeaux.
Laura F — Google review
If your are in this area visit it! It is amazing seeing so much Sand next to the ocean. They way up and down is easy if you take the stairs, through the Sand is better feeling. Walk a bit in top of the dune and enjoy the views. Lots of parking available for 7 euros for hours. It was full at noon time, maybe go earlier or later.
Markus D — Google review
Wonderful views. Decently challenging walk up for adults, not difficult but exhilarating. At the top the sand and wind whips your ankles like some sort of expensive skin treatment. Well worth the effort for the amazing views.
Jan C — Google review
This is another fun thing to do in France. If you plan on climbing to the top, wear comfy clothes. Sitting at the top after arriving is fun and there's plenty of room for a large crowd. Highly recommend.
Cher — Google review
It’s a nice spot to visit. Get there early to avoid the masses. Go down to the beach if you‘re fit enough. I saw loads of people pretty much dying on their way up the dune. The parking spots are okay and safe. Ho for lunch to arcachon.
Hmz G — Google review
We visited Arcachon for a day, during our holidays in Bordeaux. We got there by train, so our whole experience was without a car. We took the bus from the city centre to the Dune of Pilat. The ride was approximately 45 minutes through the residential areas of Arcachon. The bus stop is right next to the parking area of the Dune. From there you can walk straight to the Dune, passing by the small shops and snack bars. We were lucky as the temperature was quite comfortable during our visit. It takes around 20 minutes to get to the dune and the last part is the hardest. After a short walk on the fine sand, you reach the stairs with around 150 steps to get to the top of the dune. And when we were there, it was packed with people so getting up there took some time. Definitely worth the effort and the time to get to the top though. Once in a lifetime experience. The views are amazing and the scenery is outstanding. We visited the dune with our two children and everything was OK. You can get some rest, cool down and have a quick lunch, refreshment or snacks when you get back to the entrance area. The bus to the city centre comes every hour so keep an eye on the timetables so that you don't waste any time waiting. The number 3 bus goes through the residential areas and the busy beaches. You get the chance to get off at Moulleau for example. Overall a great experience. Great photos and definitely a cool memory for everyone.

Stunning location and pretty much free (bar the parking charge). Really recommend for all ages (does require a little physical fitness)

Amazing seafood, great location and a super romantic spot to get away from the tourist sites. Reservations are a must, of your looking for the freshest sea food this place is a must.

Perfectly situated by the beach, this French gastronomy restaurant has quality seafood and great meat dishes with a creative and modern touch. The food was really tasty and delicious overall but the cocktails could have been better executed (dry martini with ice cubes and a straw). Staff was very friendly and price was OK for the standard!
Jean-Baptiste F — Google review
One of the best meals I had while at the bassin! And the view is very hard to top! Service could improve, though!
Mariana G — Google review
Great location, good food and good service BUT the tables are so close to each other that if you are a non smoker and someone very unpolite sits 50 cm next to you and lights up 2 cigarettes at once it ruins your dinner!! Got up and left and thanks goodness we were almost finished. Won’t go back again.
Franco R — Google review
The view is stunning but they have increased their prices. The cheapest pizza costs 18 euros!! The food is tasty but it not worth the money. I will not come back.
Cavoclem — Google review
I was on the trattoria side. Pizza was great, pasta were good. Not enough choice for vegan people though.

Plage Petit Nice

Beach
Plage Petit Nice is located near the Dune du Pilat and Bassin d'Arcachon, making it a convenient spot to visit after exploring these attractions. It offers free parking and provides a great view of the dune with fewer crowds. The beach is wild and perfect for leisurely strolls, but swimming may not be advisable due to strong currents and water quality issues. However, it's an ideal place to admire the sunset.
This is the first time for me visiting after a wildfire burned everything. 😭 A very, very nice place near the Dune du Pilat to view the sunset. Parking is free of charge, with a lot of spaces. Be careful, leave no trace, and enjoy your visit.
Marius M — Google review
Excellent beach with wonderful sand. The tide can get quite high making for exciting sandcastles and thrilling swimming.
Philip — Google review
Wonderful beach. Some Germans built two concrete sand castles there. And the French painted them nicely.
Jürg T — Google review
Wonderful location with Chez Aldo bar restaurant and picnic tables in an island of surviving pines as all the surrounding forest burnt last summer. Beach access fenced off at northern end due to shore erosion and now is a sand cliff.
Andrew M — Google review
Ok here for easy access and parking. Nothing else.

The cookies are very rich in flavor. We tried out a small cup of the mini cookies. It was spot on. Well worth the experience. If you ever come across such do get it a try. You will only want more.
Fred H — Google review
This is a great place to park (was free when I came in Sept) and see the Dune du Pilat. Very few people walking up on the dune. It's a wild beach, so nice for a walk. The water in some places has a very strong current and is not necessarily safe for swimming, the water had a bad smell and rusty colour. So, great for the Dune, not good for swimming - go to Cape Ferret instead.

Outdoor Activities
Zoo Arcachon Basin is a family-friendly zoo featuring animals from 5 continents in a large naturalistic setting. Located near the famous Dune du Pilat at the entrance of Bassin d'Arcachon, it offers a diverse and beautiful natural environment. The area is known for its beaches, oysters, bike paths, and the enormous sand dune - a great spot for outdoor activities. Visitors can also explore local crafts and support creativity while staying at popular hotels nearby.
Excellent zoo. Huge area. Need at least 3 hours to briefly visit all animals. A lot of species are presented. Take some food with you especially for kids, only one small cafe close to the exit is available.
Dimitry M — Google review
A lovely zoo, bigger than expected with a wide range of different animals and birds. Animals were all out and the enclosures looked well maintained. A little pricey at 26 euros each but actually well worth it with young kids. I would definitely recommend this as a short day trip out.
Kayleigh B — Google review
5 stars because of gorilla Lope who moved here. I've been following since he was 3 years old and they are taking excellent care of him. Love how clean and well looked after the zoo is. And a great collection of animals. The staff/keepers are super friendly and can't wait to visit again. Find me on YouTube 😊.
Slogger V — Google review
The best zoo that we have ever visited. To have such close proximity to every creature was an experience we relished The site is beautiful, clean and well maintained. I highly recommend a visit.
Janet R — Google review
We were here first time 18 years ago. It us still an amazing zoo. Worth the price.
R F — Google review
Really nice zoo. At first looking at the entrance I wasn't impressed but once inside all was good. You never should judge a book by it's cover. There is a wide collection of animals. Form birds to African elephants, from tigers to rino's. And of course apes. The enclosures where spacious set up. And the walking route was clearly pointed out so you won't miss any of the animals. We took our time and our visit was around 3 - 3.5 hours
Marc H — Google review
Best zoo I have ever been to. It kind of feels like a very natural environment and you can get quite close to the animals. We really loved it here!
Florian A — Google review
Not too bad for a zoo (we are not zoo lovers). Took us just over 4 hrs to walk around nice and slow, plenty of animals to see and enjoy. All the animals had plenty of space and areas to roam.

Great food. Excellent service, very accommodating. No hesitation recommending.
William R — Google review
Looks cute from the outside. We asked for a table in the shade but we’re given a table in the sun, while a « reserved » shaded table remained empty next to us for the duration of our meal. Service was slow with no waiter offering to take our drinks order for 10 minutes while sitting in the sun. We finally ordered our meal with no menu provided. The sole came very oddly cooked with the skin still on and hard to remove. A weird over salted potato and mushroom purée was served with the fish; an inappropriate addition in the summer heat. The bill was the final straw. Total rip-off, poor service, mediocre food.
Jonathan H — Google review
unfriendly, although space was available to sit in a wheel chair and obviously highly pregnant comfortably, we were refused to get a normal hight table. Only a bar table was offered. What a service is that 😒

The Monument Café Dune du Pilat offers a limited but high-quality menu with delicious and plentiful cuisine made from beautiful products. The setting at the foot of the dune provides a dreamlike experience, perfect for a midday meal between dune ascents. The authentic homemade French food is subtle in taste yet incredibly yummy, making it an exceptional dining experience. The attentive staff ensures excellent service even during peak times, and there are healthy choices for kids as well.
It's not just about the food, it's the experience that makes me to give 5 on 5 for everything. It's authentic homemade French food, subtle in taste but all the more so yummy. Service wise the staff are very attentive even though they have to handle a maddening rush of crowd. Kids too will enjoy the healthy choice of food they have. We ordered planche fraîcheur and it was so authentic in taste. Special thanks to Mr. Thomas. His service is impeccable.

Unclear whether this is a buffet or a restaurant. Some food had to be collected from the counter and some was served to the table, but as we were given no directions we were waiting for our food for ages. The food was nothing special and not worth the struggle of trying to get hold of it. No one seems to know what is going on so the general atmosphere was one of confusion.
Mark L — Google review
Very chaotic and even the waiters didn't seem to know what was going on. It was inexplicably both table service and buffet. Food was not particularly exciting and not worth the long wait.

You can taste everything in a good moment of conviviality. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. We went there in February, and ate inside but otherwise, a terrace is available. And if it's a little cool, they'll even lend you blankets. I recommend this restaurant where we were very well received and ate very well. BE VERY CAREFUL — WORMS IN THE FISH!!! I want to share my review of Le Café Ha(a)ïtza. I am a regular customer — they have a wonderful pastry shop in the hotel, and today we decided to go there for lunch. We ordered fish (which was poorly cooked to begin with), and to our shock, we found a moving WORM inside. The most surprising thing, however, was the reaction of the staff. Of course, they offered to replace the dish, but no one suggested covering the cost of the dish cause of this horrifying situation — especially considering the reputation of the establishment. I refused to eat. And in addition he told - it's normal to have it in fish sometimes! NORMAL!!!!!!! Seriously....! Later, when the waiter came and offered us dessert, we asked, "Will it be free for us?" Only then he told 'yes'. I am in shock about the service and the terrible quality of the food. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Be very careful!!!
Mary S — Google review
Delicious food, one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in le Bassin. The menu was affordable and the quality of the dishes was impressive. The only thing I would say is that the waiter was a bit pretentious: our friend asked the waiter why his Chocolate fondant cake wasn't flowing, and he said he was telling this to people 100 times a day, that a fondant isn't meant to be flowing, not to be mistaken with a mi-cuit. I've never heard that before, but he could have told us this without the attitude. That being said, the brioche perdue was out of this world and so we're the oysters, but the omelette norvégienne wasn't good.

The service was fast, the staffs were kind. We ordered oyster and fois gras for starter and grilled beef and codfish as main course. All delicious.

Excellent tastefully decorated A! restaurant near the ocean (no ocean view, though). The set menus are of highest quality (32/37 euros). The service is attentive and with a smile! I highly recommend it! This restaurant works jointly with Corniche O! (higher class, higher price, with a view over the ocean and the dunes).

Restaurant La Lagune is a charming beachfront eatery located behind the famous Dune du Pyla, easily accessible and known for its gay-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant offers a romantic dining experience with refined French cuisine while facing the ocean, making it perfect for sunset dinners. Visitors praise the delicious food, friendly staff, and magical setting, describing it as intimate and ideal for a rejuvenating evening. The spot is also recommended for its incredible sunset views and warm hospitality.
This restaurant was absolutely a diamond! Coming from Paris, it was a breath of fresh air surrounded by a beautiful sunset and views of incredible sand dunes. The food was exquisite, including the incredible wine selection from the surrounding regions. The staff was absolutely incredible! We came in the spring when it was a little chilly and they came with a little blanket for your legs so you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine before your meal. The staff spoke english and French, which was helpful for us coming the USA and speaking very little French. We were welcomed with open arms and it was truly a delight of an experience. I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone that I know traveling this area, or a quick veer off the beaten path, it was well worth it!! Reservations are helpful for the staff to be prepared for you. You can just call the number and the staff is eager to help.

Came here for dinner in a big group during a rainy evening. Restaurant is located right on a peaceful and beautiful beach area. You will Certainly enjoy a good meals while serving with cool sea breeze and views. Internal decor was simple but conducive and welcoming. Not crowded, I guessed it was due to rain. There was a traditional fireplace at a corner which added the warmness during this rainy and cold night but a special touch to the restaurant. When we entered to the restaurant, owner and their Family members( I guessed becoz they were liked a family when working and talking to each other) greeted us with a sincere and big smiles. They were very attentive and quick to respond to our requests. Food were served relatively fast and tastes good with nice presentation. They also served very good wine and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks too. What a shame they had to shut the terrace area by lower down the plastic blinds to block the rain and cold wind, although the blinds are transparent but still didn't give you the best good nice seaview. Anyway, all of us left with a good smiles and nice meals. Thanks to the great owner and their team who had serving us well. A big thank you shout out to the beautiful young lady who spoke good English, patiently explained and introduced most of their food and drinks to us the whole night. Recommend you to bring your family or a group of your friends here to try their hospitality and good food and drinks.

Nice restaurant located on the quiet lagune beach close to the dune. The cocktails and barbecued fish were excellent. We did not know that the entrés are big in portion (normally not the case in France) so we ordered a bit of too much with entré and main together but the food was sincerely good that we happily overate😀! Next time we will order better so we have space to try their tasty looking desserts as well!

Everything was great about this place except that it took a really long time to get the waiter to bring our check when we had finished our meal. Wwe probably would have ordered a coffee as well, if it had bot taken so long for them to come afterwards. But, it was a very busy day, so I can't really fault the server. Overall, great atmosphere and great environment and the food was also fantastic!

Michelin recommended right next to the beach. I sat down and expected an expensive and simple salad, I soon realized this place is a pearl. This place deserves the recommendations from Michelin. I highly recommend the baked pie and the chef salad for starter.. Oh man that was an experience. The kids menu is super tasty, those kids sausages have lots of flavor and the green beans taste superb.

Very quick service. Staff were very polite. Steak was a little chewy and fatty. But seafood, wine and desserts were great. Plus great view of the ocean

Recommended by the tourist office and was not disappointed. Location cannot get any better, fantastic service and oysters. Impressive selection of cold seafood all served in a generous tray of ice Cooked food was slightly hit and miss, the sole was beautiful but the sauce/flavouring of scallops were not my favourite. It is also a bit pricy hence 4 not 5 stars. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back when in Arcachon.

Nestled within the bustling Arcachon market, Bar à Huîtres L’Oyster Bar is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable seafood experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind while indulging in their generous seafood platters. Fresh local oysters take center stage here, complemented by delectable pink shrimp and bulots that are simply divine.

If you’re in Arcachon, this oyster bar is a must-visit. The oysters are incredibly fresh—sweet, briny, and full of flavor straight from the bay. It’s a no-frills, authentic experience that lets the quality of the seafood shine. Pair it with a glass of crisp white wine and you’ve got the perfect afternoon. Simple, delicious, and very Arcachon.”

If you’re looking for the perfect place to enjoy oysters, it should definitely be l’Oyster Bar in Arcachon, located right inside the local market. I had never tried oysters before, and I couldn’t imagine a better place for my first experience. Fresh, delicious, and perfectly served — I instantly became a fan. What makes this place even more special is the atmosphere: local, friendly, and welcoming staff who speak several languages. If you hesitate about what to choose, they are happy to suggest the perfect drink pairing — from wine to soft drinks for kids. It’s also a wonderful spot for families to enjoy fresh seafood together. I already miss you guys — can’t wait to come back!

We opted for their oyster platter, and it was simply sublime. The oysters were incredibly fresh and tasted like they had just been pulled from the sea. Each one was plump, briny, and perfectly shucked. The atmosphere in the market adds to the experience, making it a lively and authentic spot to enjoy some of the best oysters the region has to offer. The staff were friendly and efficient, adding to a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. For anyone looking for a genuine taste of Arcachon's famed oysters, L'Oyster Bar is an absolute winner. Highly recommended!

Just an absolutely fantastic place for lunch. Located inside the Arcachon market, you cannot go wrong eating here. Sometimes there is a long wait, but be patient, it is worth the wait. The menu has several options for fresh local oysters, you can't go wrong. The larger platters are well worth it as well, as you get to try a bit of everything. The smoked salmon is also a great option. Good wine options as well. Do not miss this place if visiting Arcachon.

It’s actually not one place. It’s a collection of food stalls and on this day, outdoor market. It was a little chaotic at first. Then we learned there’s a section of tables where you can fer your food in the market and sit there to eat. So we got dozens of shucked oysters, rosé, beer, and seafood salads. It was all very lively and convivial. Good fun. Everything was promptly closed down at 1:30 so you need to make sure to get your foods before then. I had wanted some seeets (Dunes looked good) but alas, it was too close to closing time and they stopped serving. Recommend you come here on the early side of lunch and enjoy.

Arcachon Bay is a serene coastal area known for its famous dunes, upscale resorts, and historic villas. The region is renowned for oyster farming and seafood restaurants offering local delicacies like Pauillac lamb, scallops, and caneles. La Teste-de-Buch, a charming town in the area, boasts beautiful sandy beaches such as La Salie beach - a popular surfing spot on the Atlantic coast.
Absolutely a must-see and experience. Search out the local Cabanes where local oyster farmers sell directly to you. You can spend an entire summer here easily. It's that robust and engaging.

The magnificent bassin of Arcachon is already world famous and we had the opportunity to visit it during the August Feria... the traditional and local “Fête de la Mer” with animations, live concerts and shared “pique-nique” on the sea shore. The beach is small but nice and the bassin is breaking the waves so it’s ideal for little kids to play in the water. The city center is pittoresque and I recommend to move by bike because the narrow streets and summer crowd does make the use of a car very inconvenient.

The interior was typical Basque as it matches the restaurant’s name : Le Basque, in the Arcachon Bay, a few steps away from the beach. The restaurateur also from the Basque land. However, his manner was a bit too familiar. I would hate to see him when he is stressed. The mussels marinières were not of a culinary experience, not to be repeated. The frites were good.

Lovely restaurant to grab oysters and a glass of wine. Very casual setting. The wine was only €2 and the oysters were half the price than you'd pay in a city, plus they were very fresh. The outside seating is nice, even in late December. They've put up some decorations and lights to make it more cozy.

Acacia is a gastronomic eatery that boasts an ever-changing menu, adapting to the seasons and featuring fresh, top-notch ingredients. The establishment creates a cozy and inviting ambiance through its carefully crafted decor. If you're in the market for a villa in the Arcachon Bay, have you considered Acacia? With a contemporary cuisine that showcases thoughtful culinary creations at reasonable prices, this restaurant is highly recommended. However, it's advisable to make reservations ahead of time to secure your spot.
Had a great experience at this restaurant! Came here for lunch and had the menu du jour which was only 24€, for a starter, main and desert. I added a glass of fantastic wine, but this was still very reasonably priced. The food is high quality and really tasty. You can tell a lot of thought went into the dishes. The staff was also very friendly. Highly recommend! Probably better to book in advance though.

This was a great meal. It’s a very unassuming spot that clearly takes great pride in its food. We ordered one of everything in the main dishes (steak, duck, lamb, fish of the day, vegetables). The tomato straciatella salad was one of the best things I’ve had this trip. Only reason I knocked off one star is we ordered the steak medium rare and it came very rare. We also had two bottles of very nice wine.
Kyra A — Google review
We visited on Saturday night and we loved it here so much. The food was incredible and fresh. We ordered the tomato and tuna starters which were out of this world . I ordered the fish of the day (beautiful , delicate flavours ) and my husband ordered the duck which he said was amazing . We shared a tiramisu - would highly recommend and the best we have ever had. The waitresses were so lovely and helpful. We always try with our very limited French but they were more than willing to help us and spoke excellent English and recommended a wine we both really enjoyed. One waitress very kindly gave us a menu in English . Would recommend booking a table as the restaurant looked full. Un grand merci 🙌🏼.
Charlotte A — Google review
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to try the food. I had planned my trip three weeks in advance and made reservations at several restaurants in the area to enjoy with my mum. While all the other restaurants promptly sent confirmation emails or text messages, I never received any confirmation for my booking at Acacia, even after entering my card details—neither by email nor by text. As a result, I assumed my reservation hadn’t gone through. Additionally, unlike the other restaurants, I was not contacted 24–48 hours before my booking to confirm my attendance. However, just seven minutes after my reservation time had passed, I immediately received both a text message and an email informing me that €20 would be charged to my card for not showing up. When I called to explain that I had never received a confirmation and was therefore unaware that the booking was in place, the staff were disappointingly rude and told me they “didn’t have time to contact all their bookings to confirm.” I completely understand that technical issues can happen, and I wouldn’t have minded the €20 charge under different circumstances. However, the way the situation was handled was extremely disappointing - especially for a restaurant where you expect a high standard of service. If the quality of service is going to be this unreliable, perhaps Acacia should not be featured in the Michelin guide. Edit – 17/06/25: Since I can't reply directly to the owner's response, I'll add my comments here. This was Mother's Day weekend. I went to another restaurant that had confirmed my booking, and I called you back after dinner (I generally don't answer the phone while dining). There was no rudeness on my part during our call; in fact, I could barely ask a couple of questions as I was repeatedly interrupted. I'm not surprised by your attempt to downplay the situation—labelling dissatisfied customers as "rude" is an easy way to avoid addressing legitimate concerns. I want to reiterate that your system (MangezNotez) does not consistently deliver booking confirmations or card imprint receipts/notifications. I have never experienced another business holding a temporary amount on my card without providing confirmation of the card imprint. You can handle this feedback as you see fit, but as your booking process mentions a high number of "no-shows," it would make sense if only half of your customers are actually receiving confirmations.

Thank goodness for innovative cuisine. Such a pleasure to find a small restaurant being different amongst all the usual suspects. Their tasting menu of four courses was devine. The staff were superb and all up it was the highlight of our 4 nights in Arcachon. Dinner reservation is best to avoid disappointment. We came back for lunch! The Menu du Midi was superb too. €23pp

The restaurant showcases modern cuisine, where each dish is crafted with precision and artistry using fresh, high-quality ingredients. If you are ever near La Teste-de-buch make sure to stop at "La table de L'Oléa" nestled in the heart of the charming and cozy oyster port. The food is what truly sets this place apart. The combination of flavors is unexpected, yet everything comes together harmoniously. To the more creative dishes like the monkfish, each plate is crafted with care and creativity. "Le ris de veau" was amazing, the blend of vanilla, orange blossom and fresh ingredients offers a delightful explosion of Tates that complement each other perfectly. They also propose a kids menu. The desert offers the same quality, beauty and surprising your mouth with every bite. The service was equally excellent. Had the most amazing time at La Table de L'Oléa. We enjoyed a lovely view of the sunset, and the staff were incredibly patient in explaining the menu in English while remaining attentive throughout the evening. Every dish was beautifully executed, making this a truly memorable meal.

Beautiful views and seaside atmosphere. The food is as fresh as it gets. Great place to come with kids. I had the Hake steak. The taste was good but the size wasn't great. It was also a bit dry. Everything else was very good!.

The setting and la mise en scene over the Bay of Archachon is cinematically breathtaking. Unfortunately, the food and service were not worthy of such a backdrop. My wife had a very plausible and laudable seafood platter which was plucked from the local waters. This did not require any artifice from the chef though. Unfortunately, my starter was contaminated by a raw egg and my Tuna steak main was decimated incongruously with incinerated rissoto and a medley of unrecognisable vegetables. (The locals seemed to wisely stick to moules frites judging by the dishes from our neighbouring tables.) I hate to quibble but the amazing local baguette wasn't fresh nor was my wife's green salad. Finally, there is an onus on the staff to question why the plates were mostly uneaten. Rien from the waiters. We would come back in a heartbeat for a glass of Bordeaux and the sunset over the bay but hold the cuisine s'il vous plait.

Hard to not get mussels right... But they did! Service was average, we came during the boat show so it was pretty packed but again, how hard can it be to make mussels. The worst part is to queue for 20 min at the end to pay. It's 2024 get payments at the table...

We arrived first, the server let us choose our seats and was even kind enough to let us sit at a table for four, saving us the hustle and bustle of a large reserved table. The wait for our food was rather long. I had time to notice a few things, like cobwebs between our glasses. In fact, we were served, and we drank from chipped glasses (one water glass and one for the aperitif). The dishes were well served but lacked a bit of flavor. Parc de La Coccinelle is a unique farmyard attraction near Arcachon, offering an educational and fun approach to animals. It's not your typical zoo; instead, it focuses on domestic animals like lambs, calves, piglets, turkeys, rabbits, geese, goats and donkeys. With over 800 animals to interact with and even bottle feed for the little ones. The park features various activities such as rides, slides and games in a green and shady setting.
A great park with fun rides, a small water park and a petting zoo with lots of farm animals, and tons of fun for kids below 14. There are cafes and toilets for kids. The whole place is very kids friendly, and the park provides a good value for money, and a great day out for my 3 and 10 year olds. There are 3 magician shows per day during summer days when there are a crowd. Bring those hats and sunglasses on a hot day, and extra set of change in case the kids got all wet from the water rides (mine did).

A small but very nice and clean park with excellent service. The staff were very freindly and helpful, the kids loved the rides, and loved feeding the animals. What a wonderful day out for the kids, its a must if you have young children and are visiting the area

Been here a few times now, the kids always insist on coming here every holiday. It's a great little theme park with a good selection of rides, the runaway mine train is a particular highlight. There are lots of animals to feed and pet, with many enclosures you are allowed to climb the fence and walk into with the animals. If you are English, all the green dot enclosures you are allowed to go into. Food and drink is reasonably priced and the park is very clean, highly recommended.

Great place to take your kids for some wonderful farm animal interaction. My two year old had the best time. The ticket was a bit pricey though for the overall experience considering the rides and games around the petting zoo were average at best.

The kids were allowed inside the animal pens too which was great. Plenty of places to hide from the sun and the splash park was a great way to cool down.... as was standing in the soak zone near the log flume! Staff were friendly, ice-creams weren't over priced but we did take a picnic (like everyone else). Price's weren't bad given we spent all day there either. Parking was a little limited but we eventually found a spot. We would definitely go back.

Note to British folk: this is the French equivalent to our Lightwater Valley 🥰 We visited today with our 3 girls aged 6, 9 and 10. Based purely on reviews for this and Kid Parc, we were leaning towards visiting Kid Parc, however when we parked up (the Parcs are next door to each other) the girls preferred the look of Coccinelle. Reviews generally said this Parc was more for toddlers however it is the girls family holiday and they call the shots 🤣 so into Coccinelle we went... Highlights: - log flume: bit of a supersoaker and my husband went on about 15 times 😂 this was his fave, couldn't get him off it. - train rollercoaster: the girls loved this and went on lots. - mini farm: kids spent ages in petting the animals- you are allowed in the little enclosures to pet the animals and this is not like the UK where that sort of thing is only allowed at set times and under close supervision with short time limits. You could spend as long as you wanted here. Fab. - queues very short: we were able to get right round the whole Parc numerous times and on every ride as many times as we wanted, which I had not expected given that it is still "peak time" - onsite snack bar: excellent value for money. We got sandwiches, burgers, sausages, fruit pots, drinks and ice creams. I was very impressed with the prices. - entry price for 5 of us was around €77, and worth every penny. - staff: very friendly and helpful. They were very kind when my poor attempt at French probably didn't make much sense 😂🙈 thank you!

Great for young children. Animals to see/pet and rides (included in the price!). 80cm min on most rides (although not always observed 😉). Good value too at around 13€ each - and enough to keep you busy/interested all day. Bring swimming trunks for the children as there is a small but we'll stocked water-park area.

Great place to let the kids unwind, especially if you're on a lengthy vacation. There is plenty to do for the whole day or a half day. Staff is nice and kids had a great time

Parc de la Chêneraie is a picturesque park located within walking distance from the town center. It offers a serene atmosphere, perfect for leisurely walks and picnics under the beautiful oak trees. The park features a children's play area and a fitness trail, making it suitable for visitors of all ages. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful and rejuvenating environment, accompanied by the sounds of birds and water.
Calmness, forest, river and birds, pathway and outdoor playground. Obvious reasons for us to love this place. It's great to go to just recharge your energy. I love going there just after a light rain, when you could smell the rain and wet earth smell which I find so comforting. The place being a forest, is of course dog-friendly. And children-friendly with a nice small playground (which we would go to after a walk). This place is popular for families and dog owners/walkers, and joggers, in short, everybody.

I made sure I started my day with an hour long walk in the park before temperatures got too high. Avoid the paved areas and follow well worn footpaths through the trees. You might see deer and even boars. Good for runners and cyclists. No traffic fumes.

Liked it very much, but they should repair the bridge. It's not possible to switch sides and so the walk would be too long with small children. Otherwise it's very beautiful.

The Olympia Theater in Arcachon is a magnificent venue that hosts a variety of shows and concerts almost every night. It is equally stunning on the inside as it is on the outside, making it a fortunate addition to the beautiful city. The theater attracts top artists and provides an amazing experience for visitors.

(Translated by Google) We came to the theater for our daughter's dance performance. At the entrance, the hostesses pushed us aside because the seat numbers we had didn't match the numbers in the theater. The director came over and told us that we had knowingly purchased the folding seats at the back of the theater, which were against the wall. This wasn't the case, because these seats were listed like the others on the map when we bought them. It seems perfectly logical to me that these seats are sold, okay, but at a discount! Located in La Teste de Buch, a town adjacent to Arcachon, France, Le Cabanon is a unique and attractive restaurant. While some visitors find it a bit overpriced and the service slow, others appreciate the friendly staff and recommend the fish soup. The cozy terrace adds to its charm, making it an overall pleasant place to dine.
Stopped for lunch here and made very welcome. We also had our Lagotto Roxy with us and they gave us a nice quiet corner table bringing water immediately for the dog. Lovely lunch menu but opted for the A la Carte and we were very pleased. Again service was flawless for a casual restaurant. A fish soup and some oysters for staters were excellent. We drank an Entre de Mer white Bordeaux which was delicious and well priced. Sparkling water was good value and also great quality. We followed with a Tartare of Salmon, Avocado, Mango and Tuna stacked in that order and it could not have been better, I had a mix of Scallops & Prawns in Linguine.. a very large serving and sadly couldn’t finish. It was sumptuous. Dessert a Creme Brûlée and the coffee is “Italian” espresso quality served piping hot in warm cups. These nice people clearly are experienced and enjoy their work. For us a wonderful experience after a regrettable couple of hours in A & E that morning. Holiday sickness unfortunately. Top restaurant, delicious food, soft and attentive service. Quirky and cute decor, definitely to recommend. Merci Le Cabanon. X

A great venue in the oak woods, serving delicious French food, using locally sourced ingredients. A controlled menu and wine list keeps the costs down but ensures high quality dishes. We are planning a second visit before we go home.

Great ambience, beautiful and lively outside area. Could be more attentive to details: broken glasses, dried salmon carpaccio (probably plattered for hours ago and kept in the frigde), dirty toilets, not seasoned meat and fish. Missing some magic to make justice to prices.
Abe G — Google review
A bit over priced, service is slow, waited 15 minutes before order was taken and the kids were served after the parents even though we requested them to serve before us. But overall a nice place to eat.

Pricey for the quality of the food. Good produce but cooking method really wasting all the quality. Good place to have oysters but very unhappy to pay 20 euro for a really dry and overcooked cep "rissoto". Overcooked pasta. Cod completely bland. For this price you should have a pleasant and enjoyable meal.

Asian restaurant
Ko-sometsuke.2k is a renowned restaurant in Arcachon that offers a unique fusion of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, particularly specializing in seafood dishes. This family-owned establishment has perfected the art of blending Asian cooking techniques with fresh Mediterranean ingredients to create an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're craving sushi, beef, or a delectable seafood platter, Ko-sometsuke.
Stopped by during our first night in the area. Being from California, we get our fair share of good Asian food and Ko-sometsuke.2k did not disappoint. It has an influence of Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine and I loved it all. My friend and I chose the prix fixe menu in order to sample a bit of everything and it was perfect! Everything was so balanced and perfectly prepared. Service was friendly as well, especially for these English speaking tourists. I hope to return one day!
Frances V — Google review
Food is excellent there, but waiting can be quite long. Everything was extremely savory with a good mix of asian and Aquitaine specialities. Maybe less salt would be most welcomed because sometimes the salt was more overwhelming than the different condiments used. But overall, we were all extremely happy of the food!
Ns T — Google review
First off, the food was tasty. However, there were certain complications due to technical problems in the kitchen. We waited nearly 1h30 for the appetizers and 2h for the main dish. The duck and the rice were cold. The pork dish for 36 euros was a bit disappointing for the price. They didn't have the full choice of desserts and the chocolate tart was tiny 13 euros. All in all it was decent, but rather slow and overpiced, also considering the hype around the place.
Arnold K — Google review
Asia food lovers and those which want try extra good asian food should go, we had just the dim sum and it was extremly good, they speak perfect english and the service is lovely, thanks was a great evening
Sven H — Google review
Misleading photos of food and menu on Google - so don’t expect those exact dishes. The food was tasty, however the portion size of the beef cube dish was small, with a plain salad bed. The dim sum was very good (10 pieces and two sauces to try). We cannot speak for the other dishes, but overall the portion sizes should be a little bigger considering the high prices.
Alicja L — Google review
Absolutely delicious and very friendly service. She gave us a sake for free and even offered to lend us an umbrella when we left in the rain. I can't recommend this place more. I wish we lived in Arcachon so we could go back soon, but we will definitely be back next time! Highly highly recommend.

NEVER EVER RETURN AND WILL DISPUTE SOME CHARGES...
AlwartFrancois W — Google review
It's disappointing when a restaurant has great potential, but fails in a couple of essential matters. First it tok ages to get the food. After 90 minutes we were still waiting for the main courses. Understandably they had a completely new menu, but more or less all tables had to wait a very long time. The Dim Sum shared starter was very good, and so was our two different porc main courses. But it was much to little on our plates! When you get three very small porc medallions (perhaps 90-100 grammes of meat...) one pac choy and two small pieces of carrot (and a bowl of rice) and you pay 25 Euros, you end up not satisfied, still hungry and feel a bit cheated, to be honest. We told this to our waitress, who had no suggestion at all to make us more satisfied. It's not good enough, really, and if they continue like this it will make their very good rating fall like a sack of potatoes in a short time.

Hôtel Restaurant La Co(o)rniche is an elegant and chic five-star resort located in Pyla Sur Mer, offering a peaceful retreat near Dune du Pilat and Banc d'Arguin. The hotel boasts bright and spacious rooms with balconies or private terraces that provide stunning views of the surroundings. Guests can enjoy exceptional service, an outdoor pool, and a seafood restaurant on-site.
One of my favorite restaurants in all of France. But the other night was unfortunate. A new staff member serving us in the casual side, with little experience in hospitality, discretion or understanding of “ don’t bite the hand that feeds you” began and continued on with one of my VIP guests celebrating their Birthday. He was so vocal about his unfair compensation, how he wasn’t treated well and that any tips left by guests were kept by the hotel, (a crime he repeatedly vocalized that was worthy of President Macrons attention) while he repeatedly left ME to SERVE the magnums of Champagne to my guests, set a scene that I found intolerable. I pray my experience is just a 1 in 100.

Restaurant la corniche: Worst possible service. We ve been unwelcomed by a lady who proposed us a table on the 2nd row table. As there were many tables available on the 1st row and it was nice to face the ocean directly, we asked for one of those. She said it was not ready yet because some guest just left. We said we didn’t mind waiting. She came back and said it wasn’t possible because no waiter were available to put the plates on the table. As our table was dully dressed, we said we didn’t mind carrying the plate to this table. Then she came up with another excuse saying each waiter were assigned a table row and we had to be served by a specific waiter. It was all very ridiculous how adamant she was on not pleasing us as client. Then we realised there were 1 fully dressed table available on the first row( 4 tables undressed and 1 table dressed: total 5 tables available) .When showing her that one, we thought she will finally be accommodating but No. she then said that 1st row table are only for hotel guest. Since it was 22h00 and already 15 mn discussion with her we advised her that at that rimes there won’t be be suddenly 10 guests of the hotel showing up and specifically asking for those table. At loss of arguments she then call a waiter, also quite rude who asked “ what s going on. Upon explaining the situation he said it would be too complicated for him to serve us at one of these tables because he will have to cross the room. We then proposed that if a waiter on that side could serve us, it would be easier for everyone. At the end he just became all red , boiling and shouting “well fine i will cross the room then! “ What an awful atmosphere and how unhelpful and unprofessional those people are. At the end we lost 15mn talk for no reason. There were plenty of full table around us with many waiters but it all sound very complicated for them to just be nice!! Obviously they must have spit in our plates but well we had a nice view. When i asked for 2 extra pieces of bread for the oysters they said they have none! At that stage we knew they wouldn’t help for anything. We stayed at this hotel before so we just came back for the view. We knew The food was no better than a simple coffee place in town but quite expensive regarding the poor choice/quality. Go there only for the view because the food is plain and the service is the worst! No manager visible the whole time and while we were sitting we could hear another waitress moaning and complaining her feet hurts and another one saying he was dying to go home. This was just in June. So good luck for anyone who will experience the most horrible service in july or august
Carole W — Google review
High end hotel with an excellent, quite boujee restaurant but definitely worth the hype. Its a huge restaurant and huge operation but the service was generally pretty great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We came here in August for dinner. Great views and great vibes. We were there on a Saturday night and there was a DJ and party vibes. Food was excellent - we had some delicious oysters, amazing seafood and very good steaks. Extensive wine selection and great cocktails.

We had lunch on the terrace, and the setting was absolutely spectacular. The valet was attentive and kind, and our waiter provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the lobster was a major disappointment — it had an unmistakable taste of mud, mold, and air freshener (seriously). When we mentioned this to our server, she laughed it off, but not long after, the couple dining beside us complained about the exact same thing. For the view alone, we would consider coming back, but at such steep prices, it’s a real shame to leave the lobster untouched on the plate.
Diane B — Google review

Stopped here for drinks while cycling from Arcachon. We were met with such friendly staff and given wonderful comfy couch with amazing view of the dunes and the ocean. Food menu was reasonably priced (lunch). Location is fantastic! Visit!! Just visit for the view is nothing else!

An absolutely breathtaking spot especially at dawn with a view of sunset over the Arcachon bay. Bar and tapas are great with a cool South Western France feel. The restaurant is a great spot too but the service ruins the whole experience. After having excessively been pushing for the most expensive dishes, our waiter brought us our starters (ceviche) without coco sauce and arrogantly claimed that we were ignorant as this was how they should be cooked (contrary to what was on the menu). He never apologized after being proved wrong and completely ignored us thereafter. Such a shame given the beautiful place we were in. Not sure we will ever visit that place again (unfortunately)...

Le Jardin is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Moulleau, offering a serene escape from the city buzz. The shaded terrace surrounded by lush greenery provides an idyllic setting to savor a variety of dishes including salads, tartare, and classic meat and seafood options. Guests can indulge in delectable tuna and beef tartare while enjoying the tranquil ambiance. The restaurant also boasts a delightful garden area and elegant indoor space where creative dishes are served with impeccable presentation.
We had a very enjoyable meal at Le Jardin in Arcachon. The highlight is definitely the beautiful terrace — spacious, green, and perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner in the open air. The menu offered a great variety of salads, which was a welcome change and ideal for a lighter, summery meal. The food overall was tasty and well-prepared — fresh ingredients, simple yet flavorful. It’s the kind of place where you can eat well without feeling weighed down. Service was efficient and friendly, with everything arriving quickly and smoothly, even during a busy time. If you’re looking for a pleasant terrace meal in Arcachon, Le Jardin is a great choice. Casual, fresh, and easygoing — just right for the local vibe.

Le Bellota est un endroit idéal pour les amateurs de viande grillée de qualité. L'ambiance conviviale en fait l'endroit parfait pour partager un bon repas entre amis. Les produits sont de qualité sans fioritures, offrant un retour à l'essentiel.
Friendly staff and lots of good quality meat to try. Best to make a booking for seats. Parking is available across the street. Can also buy their meat to bring home to cook it.

Restaurant
L'Authentic d'Eric Thore is a culinary gem that showcases the artistry of a chef with experience in prestigious establishments. This restaurant offers a seasonal menu that changes regularly, allowing diners to savor creative and delicate flavors without breaking the bank. With a daily set menu priced at just 35 euros, guests can indulge in three choices each for starters, main courses, and desserts.
Amazing restaurant with set menu and à la carte options. Set a little bit away from the more glamorous options this restaurant serves outstanding food and wine combined with stylish and professional service. For those that value quality at a fair price instead of location and being seen, this is a highly recommended option for a beautiful and memorable dining experience.

The food is excellent but the atmosphere and the service doesn’t feel very welcoming for non French speakers. We asked for water 5 times and we got the food almost after 40min waiting - it took ages to take our order, other French guests were prioritized ahead of us. For that price, you would expect more from the Service but the chef is fantastic and food was very good.

I wish I can give them 7/5… great gastronomy
Mario K — Google review
Summary: - Ambience: very quiet and no music, left a fairly awkward environment. - Staff service: for the price you pay wasn’t what I would expect. Potentially as we were English we received less attention? - Food: 50/50, we received some lovely free salmon starters and the veal main was delicious but the meat was quite tough, not what €35 should be. Friends had the filet mignon and it was far below average, neither cooked to their requirement and also very tough and full of sinew. Overall I wouldn’t return considering the price point.

Amazing set menu from start to finish! Lovely atmosphere, recommended wine was delicious and food was top notch. If you had to visit one restaurant in this area this would be a very good choice.

McDonald's

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's is a well-known fast-food chain famous for its classic burgers and fries. Customers have mixed reviews about the speed of service, with some praising the quick and attentive staff while others suggest improvements in delivery time. The food quality receives positive feedback, especially the signature menus in certain locations. Despite being known for unhealthy options, many customers appreciate the friendly service and overall experience at McDonald's. However, cleanliness seems to be an issue in some branches.
Peaceful and relaxing place. Enjoy the food and while listening to the wind blowis very relaxing.
Tan J — Google review
The parking is big, the toilets are managed well. The employees are friendly. But the food options are really limited compared to other macdonalds. There is no vegetarian, vegan, or fish options, and even a lot of snacks are not available.
Nali ( — Google review
My critical part, the staff was friendly. It was so hot and mcdo was the escape place for us. The meat was so nice in the burger as it is always true for mcdo in France. Instead of standart menus I recommend you to try always signature menus. Then you will not regret.
Mufasa C — Google review
Very clean, great service and the staff is polite. It's a shame the music was all swear words. The staff seemed to think it was ok.
