Tamarindo in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Tamarindo, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Tamarindo is a popular Pacific beach town known for its long sandy shoreline, reliable surf breaks, and vivid sunsets. It’s a convenient base for water activities such as surfing, sportfishing, sailing, and seasonal sea turtle watching at nearby Playa Grande and Las Baulas National Marine Park. The town offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, and small hotels, giving it an easygoing but lively atmosphere. Its location in Guanacaste also makes it a practical jumping-off point for day trips to national parks, volcanoes, and other beaches along the coast.
With favorites like Breaking Bread, ZOLU TACO BAR Tamarindo, and Falafel Bar, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Wok N Roll and La Oveja Tamarindo Mexican Bar & Restaurant so you can get the best taste of Tamarindo while you’re here. Taco restaurant
Green Papaya Taco Bar is a local favorite known for its unique style and tropical flair, offering a chill ambiance and an excellent dining experience. The restaurant spans cuisines and fuses flavors from Costa Rica to Mexico, serving up some of the best Mexican tacos and margaritas in Tamarindo. With swings as seats on the outside patio, it's a great spot for a laid-back lunch or afternoon hangout after surfing.
This is a really fun place to eat! They have swing chairs outside with bar tables, as well as regular tables. We all enjoyed the food and the portions were a good size. It was a little pricier than other places we ate on our trip, but that’s to be expected in Tamarindo. The service here was also excellent, they brought toy blocks out for our 2 year old to play with and they were very friendly.
Emme T — Google review
We ordered the beet carpaccio w/ blue cheese crumbles and the seared ahi tuna tacos and they did not disappoint. The food and ambience was great and our server Carlos was very friendly and attentive. Happy we came on a Sunday to enjoy the half off Margaritas and taco specials.
Sophia L — Google review
We are vegan, and we unfortunately didn’t like the food at all. My bf had the vegan stir fried tacos, which was soggy, with mash potatoes, mix of asian veggies drowned in soy sauce. The quesadillas wasn’t bad, but I didn’t really like the vegan cheese. The starter was good tho, we had the vegan ceviche with heart of palm, and the spicy sauce was very good. Wouldn’t go back tho.
Rachel T — Google review
Loved the atmosphere here. We had the beef burrito and beef enchiladas. Both were delicious and I definitely want to come back and try more. The restaurant has swings you can sit in for seating which is really fun and unique.

What a great place in Tamarindo! We had a great experience, our server Claudia was great! The food, amazing. Mahi tacos are incredible. The wife got vegan coconut curry veggies with rice. Margaritas are extremely good here. Cool vibe, great eat. Go here!
Steven P — Google review
Our first time in Costa Rica and came to the green papaya via google reviews and wanting tacos. Luca was kind and knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Tacos were delicious and the vibe was great!
Erin [ — Google review
Couldn’t wait to come back & it was worth it! We came here 5 years ago and were excited for the shrimp tacos and hot sauce that we loved the last time. Luckily it was just as good this time around! We decided to go with the mahi mahi tacos which were huge (sharable) and SO GOOD. Margarita was pretty good as well - definitely recommend. Service was fantastic - Luca was friendly and attentive. She recommended the mahi mahi which is why we went that route over the shrimp and we were not disappointed! The food came out really fast. It’s a cash only establishment, but there is an ATM next door if needed. Also 5 stars for the kitty that was there!
Krystal — Google review
They have a separate and very good vegan menu. We had the vegan tacos with corn tortillas, vegan quesadillas and Buddha Bowl. Large serves, fast service and nice atmosphere.

Restaurant
Dragonfly Bar & Grill is a romantic dining spot in Costa Rica, offering a tranquil ambiance and hyper-local, sustainable ingredients sourced from the country's seas, sands, farms, and fields. The restaurant boasts low lighting, fairy lights, table lanterns, and a casual atmosphere. Its innovative menu changes with the seasons and features dishes like vegetarian Buddha bowls, fresh-caught red snapper, sesame-seared yellowfin tuna, and fiery Thai beef.
This is the perfect dinner spot! Dragonfly was one of the best places we ate while in Tamarindo. They had a wide range of foods on the menu, great drinks, and quick service. I had sushi and it was so delicious! This restaurant may not be right downtown, but I am so glad that we tried it and hope you do too.
Tessa S — Google review
The food was actually AMAZING. Flavorful and fresh. They had an excellent selection of drinks, entrees and desserts. It was our most expensive meal in tamarindo, $142 usd for 2 people - but that included cocktails, entrees and dessert.
Melinda G — Google review
It’s a very cute restaurant with nice staff. The menu was interesting has a lot of Asian inspired items. The red snapper was well cooked but could not get over the sauce . It was very sweet . The seafood pasta and the drinks we both got were good.
Fantine C — Google review
Great nice quality dinner and great service! We ordered the sashimi & nigiri plate, the sesame seared yellowfin tuna, and a tres leches which were all delicious. For drink we had the dragon fruit mojito and the Paloma which were both excellent!
Brette M — Google review
Dragonfly is a nice spot for dinner for all types of occasions. Menu has a nice variety of options including sushi. We tried some gyoza, three sushi rolls, mozzarella empanada and the kale salad. Sushi was nice and fresh and the kale salad was great. They also had some light live music which was nice!!! We didn’t order drinks but they a nice selection to choose from.
Mitzi M — Google review
We had a fantastic dinner here on our last night in Costa Rica. Highly recommend the Buddha bowl (and I added seared tuna). The tuna was cooked PERFECTLY, and the bowl was so flavorful. Delicious tofu and the sauce was amazing. 10/10 would recommend!
Jennifer A — Google review
Dragonfly was an amazing place due to its quality of food/drinks. Great atmosphere to enjoy dinner & drinks. Personnel was very attentive. It was admirable to see Bernardo make great drinks, talk with guests and manage multiple task at once. Pura vida 🤙🏻
Sharlyn R — Google review
I liked this place one of the better restaurants in Tamarindo. The ambience is really nice, live music and we sat in the top area which was relaxing for us. The must try items are the tuna tartar it was amazing and the skirt steak with the bone marrow! That steak was the best steak we had here, an amazing cook and great flavor. We loved the empanadas. The sushi was good a little too much rice on them but very tasty and cool presentation. Good service too we’d return and do it again.

Restaurant
Nestled in Tamarindo, Falafel Bar offers a casual and inviting atmosphere with a diverse menu that caters to various dietary preferences. From traditional favorites like hummus, falafel, and baba ghanoush to more innovative options such as stuffed grape leaves, the restaurant provides an array of Middle Eastern delights. Guests can also create their own mezze by selecting from a variety of small plates.
Great food and the waitress was amazing. Food was super tasty and of quality. Hummus and felafel with top notch. Mediterranean platter amazing French fries, wow Great experience, great atmosphere and very apprentice stuff
Tihomir T — Google review
I love this place! Eaten there many times and I just keep going. The chicken shawarma pita is super tasty and a full meal. If you get, don’t order any appetizers.
Michael K — Google review
Went here for lunch with my family and had an amazing experience. Emanuel was very friendly and helpful with recommendations, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We ordered the Mixed Grill—especially loved the ribeye beef skewer! It came with warm, fluffy pita, tasty garlic sauce, creamy hummus, and rice. We also got the falafel plate which is a great vegetarian option. The hibiscus lemonade and ginger lemonade were super refreshing, and the passion fruit ale was a unique must-try. Great food, wonderful service, and an overall enjoyable dining experience.
Suthan N — Google review
Loved this place! I only had the shrimp skewer appetizer, which comes with a delicious salad, hummus, tahini and baba ghanoush. It was a generous serving, almost like a full meal. I swapped the tahini for tzatziki though to keep the calories lower and it was delicious. Even the shrimp on its own without dipping it in anything was perfectly grilled and seasoned. My spouse had the Greek salad and loved it. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The prices are also very reasonable. And the staff is an absolute joy, especially Manuel. He was super friendly, informative, and genuinely positive and lovely to talk to. Will go again!
D T — Google review
I read the 1-star reviews left previously by others before giving a 5-star to balance and check myself. When rating an establishment one must factor in location, comparative food in the area, and the history of the world. For example, pricing is always high in a beach town. This is the only Middle Eastern place in a town with mostly Latin food places, therefore gathering ingredients from distributors for Middle Eastern food is not easy. Owned by an Israeli, one commenter of a 1-star review tried to accuse this place of cultural appropriation. Fool, Israeli folk have been eating falafel alongside their Arab cousins since humans first ground beans on this portion of the globe. As for the person carrying on in their 1- star review about a dead bug, YOU ARE IN THE TROPICS! The food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect. Falafel Bar is by all means 5-star.
Debra P — Google review
Food was INCREDIBLE—authentic, fresh, and absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Sol was so lovely, helpful, and knowledgeable. The pita is made from scratch and is absolutely mouthwatering. Will be returning!
Abby W — Google review
Wow. No place has ever wowed us so much that we went back TWICE (that's a lie, but it happens rarely). We went for lunch twice at Falafel Bar Tamarindo while staying nearby. The Fish Falafel was flavorful, perfect texture and had great balance. (For the review about the fish bone, bro - Chew your food. 🙄) The salad had great flavor, the pitas are so fluffy and are cooked perfectly. The hummus was smooth and spiced nicely. All of it 👌🏼 The Mixed Grill - every kebab was seasoned well and cooked to where the meat practically fell off. Delightful. The water is fresh and the beer is cold.

Sports bar
Bar & grill
Sharky’s Sports Bar is a popular spot in Tamarindo, known for its pub-grub and great drinks. While it may not offer gourmet cuisine, it serves up delicious onion rings, wings, and burgers. The bar boasts an extensive menu of house cocktails, spiked smoothie pitchers, shooters, shots, and bombs. Additionally, patrons can enjoy a wide selection of draft and bottled craft beers, malts, and ciders.
We loved our experience at Sharky’s. The food was so good and the drinks were also delicious. The staff was great especially with recommendations and explaining certain things. We were seated immediately, drinks within 5 minutes and the food wasn’t a long wait either. Great little bar with a large indoor seating area with several TVs to enjoy all the sports.
Amy C — Google review
This was a really fun place. We all got food, everyone love what they ordered. The music here was great as well as the drinks.
H. C — Google review
My friends and I went last Saturday and it was "ladies night" and we were supposed to get vodka drinks for free. We initially didn't see the sign outside but were told by another customer that we met. The bar staff didn't mention anything about it. I am a Spanish speaking person and left my 3 Caucasian friends at the bar to order our next free drinks while I went to the washroom. When I got back one of my friends had gotten charged for the free drinks by one female staff (didn't get her name). When I asked her in spanish why she had charged my friends for the "free drinks" she got defensive and thought I had said she robbed my friends. Then a male server came and I asked him why she has charged us and he said that the female staff had used a vodka bottle from the back of the bar instead of the one they were supposed to use for the nights inventory & give the "free drinks". So beware and read signs cause the staff will charge you for free stuff and/or overcharge you (my friend also gave them too much money) and wasn't given her change back. I would give this a 0 rating but I can't as the staff was dishonest and took advantage of non Spanish speaking clients. We have experienced lots of other venues with nicer people that we will be visiting again :)
Marxcela N — Google review
Great place to watch American television especially football but lately there has been a very annoying buzzing sound. They say it's a cricket but it's no cricket. Also the service is somewhat to be desired but overall it's better than most places in Tamarindo.
Jason B — Google review
Good place to watch NFL football (besides from the tvs delaying & cutting out) nice people, good food..But HAPPY HOUR is a SCAM! We ordered drinks before happy hour & placed an order during happy hour & were charged full price during that happy hour window, but what do you expect here!? Service is key & it was a terrible experience with service! Only bar in Tamarindo that treated us unfairly! Damage was already done before trying to fix the situation!
J R — Google review
As an expat living in a country that is not all that interested in baseball, it was hard to watch games until I was told about Sharky's. Since then, I have seen many big games in a chill beach environment, and to make it even better, the food is AMAZING!!! The Buffalo chicken sandwich and sliders are amongst the best I have ever tried, and if you want wings, there is no other place that comes even close. The staff is always friendly, responsive, and welcoming. So, even if you don't need to watch sports, go for the food.It is awesome! They also have live music pretty regularly!
Jim N — Google review
When you come in for happy hour and ask what drink specials are and you are told all drinks it should be specified what drinks. Ordered 4 drinks thinking it was included in the "Happy Hour" only to be charged full price. And the special was only 1 dollar off beer. This is a prime example as to why we never go to Tamarindo when we come here.
Nicole L — Google review
I love sharkey's...... the food is delicious and plentiful for the price....... each time I come to Tamarindo I make sure I visit Sharkey's at least once but usually more....... and come for their half price wings everyday between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica

Beach
Tamarindo Beach in Costa Rica is a vibrant destination known for its energetic nightlife, world-renowned surfing, and stunning natural beauty. The area offers a mix of white sandy beaches, warm turquoise waters, and lush mangrove-lined estuaries. Whether you're an experienced surfer or a beginner, there are beaches catering to all levels. The town boasts buzzing nightlife and some of the country's best restaurants.
Such a welcoming and charming beach town with shops, restaurants and activities to do. The sunsets are breathtaking and the moonlit art and food fest was magical. Loved it!
Maria G — Google review
Tourist beach no doubt about that. Horse back riding, surfing lessons and tour available all over the beach. Chairs to rent and options to have drinks brought to you. Close to hotels and restaurants and walkable beach.
L L — Google review
The worst beach I’ve ever been to. It looks nice and picturesque but it’s very dirty and dangerous. Our baby got exposed to Shigella and we had to rush her to a Liberia hospital to start antibiotics. There are a lot of horses walking back and forth the whole day, and although they have poop bags, some shit occasionally falls down to the beach. Nobody picks it up obviously (same applies to the dog owners). We witnessed multiple times that dog and horse owners would dig the poop into the sand and continue walking. This poop gets washed into the sea and the rest is left for kids to put their hands in there to build sand castles. It stinks here and there too. There are many flies. Sellers come to you every other minute. Maybe it’s seasonal but the water was very shallow. Water was gone in the first and second half of the day. Black sand made the water look muddy. But all this is nothing compared to the horse shit. It’s a safety hazard - horses shouldn’t be allowed on the beach!

"Tamarindo Beach is a true Paradise for surf lovers and beach enthusiasts alike. The golden sands stretch endlessly, inviting you to relax under the sun or take a refreshing swim in the clear, warm waters. The lively atmosphere, with friendly vendors and bustling cafes, adds to the charm of the place. At sunset, the beach transforms into a magical scene, perfect for stunning photos and peaceful reflection. Whether you're seeking adventure or relaxation, Tamarindo Beach offers an unforgettable experience — a slice of coastal heaven that keeps calling you back."

Great beach and so much to see and so. We went surfing here and it was great. So much going on in the area. Only stayed for one day could easily do several. Tons of restaurants and shops and activities in the area. I’d suggest staying in this area if are staying in costa Rico. Lots of street vendors selling all kinds of stuff and services. This was the first time I saw people offering massages on the beach. Tons of shops restaurants hotels and services in the area. It seems to be a party area, and the beach area may get crowded. If you just want to chill on a beach you may have to walk a good distance down the main beach area. But still a great area.
B S — Google review
Beautiful beach that is severely overcrowded with sunbeds for rent everywhere and horses nonstop riding back and forth in the heat (animal abuse). Had the place not been so overcrowded it would have been wonderful, but as is I would recommend going to Santa Teresa instead. Much better vibes and less crowded.
Esben E — Google review
Beautiful beach, enjoyed our time there very much. Great waves for learning how to surf… If you are young, at 49 it was rough, lol. Only downside is the amount of people trying to sell you the same thing multiple times a day. They are not rude or anything, it just becomes tiring after awhile.

Asian restaurant
Wok N Roll is a well-known and long-running asian restaurant that serves up Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Mongolian cuisine with some incredible fusion sushi. During high season, you can check out their oyster tank!
The Food, Service, and Atmosphere were all a 10/10 experience. I only had sushi tonight but there are plenty of non sushi options for those looking for something different. The fish was very fresh and the sushi menu alone is 3-4 pages. The owner, Candace, took great care of me. If you are in Tamarindo definitely stop by for a great experience. Pura Vida!

Everything about this restaurant is a 10/10 experience. The aesthics and energy draws you in, the food and drinks keep you here, and the service and hospitality makes you want to come again and again. As tourists, we were more than satisfied with the food as it was delicious. But we were also appreciative of the warm felt energy given by staff that suggested multiple locations to visit in Costa Rica that'll make our trip that more special. All in all, Wok n' Roll in Costa Rica is a must try!

La Oveja Tamarindo Mexican Bar & Restaurant is a great place to go for Mexican food, live music, and drinks. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is fun and lively.
This restaurant was so lovely 😍. The first day I came here for a dinner and I must say that I was positively surprised by this place. The food served here is very good, fresh food quality and well seasoned. Cocktail drinks also at a high level, rich in flavor. Came back here for breakfast the next day and I must state. It was a bull's eye. I have not eaten such a good breakfast for a long time, especially on CR. Definitely I do recommend come here 👌

2 stars especially because it's the only place in costa rica, where they are asking for extra tips over the tips they already included in your bill. Also, they are asking if you want to be charge in colones or us dollars, I replied with colones and she still charged me in US dollars on my card... Be careful with the staff over there!!

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria La Baula is a well-established Italian restaurant located in Tamarindo. It offers an extensive menu of authentic, thin-crust pizzas cooked to perfection in a woodfire oven. The owner, who is Italian, ensures that the flavors are as genuine as they come. The restaurant maintains a classy atmosphere and is perfect for a nice dinner out with family or friends. Its location off the main drag adds an element of adventure to finding this gem.
We stopped in for dinner and ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza and Sangria. The pizza was cooked to perfection and the sauce and thin crust was delicious. The staff was nice and friendly and very attentive. They have a beautifully decorated outdoor garden setting. Overall we enjoyed our dining experience.

This could have been a 5 star review as the Pizza, service and atmosphere are lovely. What spoiled it for us was the Tico 'trick" when you come to pay. If you try to pay by credit card they take your card, then walk away and come back with a piece of paper saying your card did not work and can you pay cash. We INSISTED to pay by card and eventually went behind the bar with the server and watched her enter the transaction into the PDQ machine, and funnily enough it worked !! This has happened to us in a few places when they want cash payments instead credit cards. Left us with a sour taste, and will not be returning!

Servers were able to communicate well in English and Spanish and the manager speaks Italian as well. Go for the pizza but do not skip the dessert or limoncello. As a bonus, there is also an outdoor eating area with a playground for younger guests.

First of all the restaurant itself looks straight out of a travel magazine. It’s beautiful. The play area for kids is a huge bonus for those with little ones. The pizza was delicious with the crust being a perfect balance of crispy and chewy. Blue cheese was a surprise of our cheese pizza and we ate every slice. Highly recommended

Lovely decor, indoor and outdoor area. Beautiful play area outside. Great to keep little ones entertained. Staff were friendly and attentive. Pizzas were amazing. Lots of choices. Traditional Italian style stone baked. Very good size, lots of toppings too. Salad was a good size too. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for pizza. Live singer on Friday night too (may have other nights but this was when we attended)

Coffee shop
Nordico Coffee House, located in Tamarindo, is a laptop-friendly cafe with a minimalist Nordic design and a relaxed atmosphere. It offers a variety of artisanal coffee, specialty drinks, and delicious breakfast options. The cafe is known for its stable WiFi, cool temperatures, and favorite items like acai bowls and smoothies. Nordico brews everything from Americanos to cold-brew lattes and ice cream-infused affogatos.
Was amazing experience at this coffee shop. The view is unmatched. It overseas the three roads that get together right in front of it and all the action is happening in front of it. Staff was super friendly and the options for coffees are almost indefinable. Wi-Fi sucks a little bit, but can go around. A lot of gluten-free options. Super chill place.

Great place to eat a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Western options also available. Does offer cocktails and speciality coffees. Staff all speak English really well and are very kind and friendly. There is an inside and outside seating . The patio lets you have a nice view of the city. Good was delicious . I ate here at least 5x while in Tamarindo.

This little cafe in Tamarindo is one of the few where you can find outdoor seating on the terrace, and indoor seating with AC. The decor is classic coffee shop with Pura Vida vibes. There is a lot of seating so you’ll never have to worry about finding space to enjoy your meal or work on your computer. The menu isn’t exceptional, but there is something for everyone—I really like the açaí bowls and breakfast menu. They have a great selection of coffees which is the most important of all! If you are looking to work here, they have great WiFi but it does get noisy so keep that in mind if you have meetings. It’s a great cafe and definitely recommend a visit!

Don’t miss this gem of a coffee shop on the second story of the Tamarindo busy strip. It has a great view for sitting outside people watching or getting stay inside for shade and quality air conditioning. Best coffee in town and the consistency stayed the whole vacation. Not to mention the food is so fresh with great portion sizes. The staff are all polite and in great spirits.

Pour over coffee is great! Dylan made a good recommendation between Peabody and black honey. The dessert was okay. I wish they have cakes. But overall, good place for coffee!
Bernice D — Google review
Really great coffee shop on the second floor of their building, with many serving options and a full bar (allowing for my favorite: Amarula cold brew). Very cute little shop with indoor and outdoor seating; the indoor area is well air conditioned. Cozy in the classic coffee shop way rather than feeling like a corporate outpost or tourist trap. That said, certainly not the cheapest cup of coffee in town. Beyond their coffee and cocktails, they have a number of pastries and snacks available (most, maybe all, gluten free, and some vegan). They also have a well-curated stock of chocolates, honey, and bags of their own diverse roasts, plus a few branded merch items.

Very quiet place with a quaint atmosphere. Sat on the balcony with a nice soft breeze, and the love of my life sitting beside me, couldn’t have asked for a better morning!!!

My wife and I had an amazing experience doing the coffee workshop at Nordico Coffee House. The employees were super friendly and informative and the coffee was the best I had in Costa Rica. We were able to try 4 different coffees made from different processes and loved them all. The owner Olaf came up to our table and gave us great knowledge of the coffee world and was a gentleman. I highly recommend trying their coffee and doing a quick coffee tasting/workshop!

The resort sits directly on Playa Tamarindo, inviting guests to enjoy 1.8 miles of white sand beach just steps from their rooms.
Came here for my daughter’s 16th birthday! This location and hotel was amazing! The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Please book the tours through the desk! The van and guides will stay with you all day and help you in ways you didn’t even think you’d need help! Daniella and Mariano were the BEST! They were extremely knowledgeable and educated us on many things about the area, they had us laughing all day, took our pictures, and carried our stuff! They were seriously the BEST! I forgot our tour guides name for Monteverde, :( but he was just as kind and helpful!

Stayed here in June with friends and family, it was lovely! Rooms were very nice, air conditioning worked WELL! Clean, had great space for our things, beds were comfortable. Swim up bar & pool was great, we enjoyed this one evening, while admiring the iguana who hung out on the wall. Hotel was located in a great spot, central to many shops & restaurants, we could walk to virtually anything we wanted. Ubered to a couple things further than what we wanted to walk (for very affordable prices). We felt very safe, even thought the hotel is located right along the beach and road. The staff is very attentive and aware of all needs. We never had a worry. Above everything else, the breakfast was AMAZING! I'd stay here again to eat breakfast everyday, it was so good! It took weeks of being home to get over not having fresh fruit, delicious coffee, and great food everyday. What we didn't have for breakfast, we walked nearby and enjoyed at local restaurants for lunch or dinner. One evening when sitting eating our ice cream from a nearby shop in the lobby, a staff member came and had a very kind conversation of mixed english/spanish with our teen children. It was really welcoming and memorable.

I just left and I want to go back ASAP. The hotel staff were so friendly. From the second we arrived, we were greeted with smiling faces and throughout our stay, we were being asked how we were and if there was anything we needed. Our housekeeper did a fantastic job and our room was wonderful. The beach and pools were so enjoyable. I’ve never been on a vacation where all of my family’s needs were met so well: surfing, massages, breakfast with ocean views, nature, relaxing by the pool, walkable town shopping/restaurants, mariachi music at night, staff around everywhere making sure guests felt taken care of. Thank you so much for an unforgettable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a fantastic experience at this hotel. The location is perfect—just steps from the beach and close to great restaurants and activities. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The staff truly made the difference: friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with recommendations or any request we had. The pool area was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, and the overall atmosphere felt safe, welcoming, and very well maintained. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tamarindo!

I Never wanted to leave! The hotel, grounds, and beach in front are all amazing!! Wonderful service from the team as well! Fabricio at reception was always so helpful with questions. Fast strong WiFi, wonderful food. Great AC and strong water pressure in the showers. I can’t wait to come back one day.

Great resort but do pack a pair of flat flip flops.. To squash all the spiders crawling up the room walls. But overall a great resort, but a couple of things to watch out for. Watch your bills at the restaurant very carefully. They charged us for somebody else's table. There is no drinking water on the property except for the bar which is very inconvenient. So be prepared to get a bottles of water from the nearby grocery stores unless the management plans to fix this and puts drinking water throughout the resort
Ankur O — Google review
Beware, if you book this hotel make sure you are not having any family or friends pop in to spend time with you. The hotel DOES NOT allow anyone who is not on the reservation to enter. That means no grand kids can visit their grandparents at their hotel and spend time together at the pool. They’re pretty robotic on this policy and will not budge. I’ll have my family stay elsewhere next time.
Greg M — Google review
We have visited numerous resorts throughout the Caribbean and Central America, and unfortunately, this has been the most disappointing experience we’ve had. The staff were consistently rude and unprofessional, and the level of service fell far below expectations. Our room was not properly cleaned, and were very outdated and we also were initially assigned the wrong room, which created further inconvenience. Additionally, the breakfast options lacked variety, with the same basic buffet offered each morning. While Costa Rica is a beautiful country with so much to offer, our stay at Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort significantly impacted our overall experience in a negative way. We do not recommend this resort and advise others to consider alternative accommodations.

Jardin Del Eden Boutique Hotel is an exclusive, adults-only retreat in Tamarindo. The hotel offers a serene atmosphere and includes breakfast and dinner with your stay. Guests can enjoy a private beach lounge with amenities, spa services, and parking. The hotel's location provides easy access to Tamarindo Beach and WAYRA Institute of Spanish.
We stayed three nights at Jardin del Eden and had a wonderful experience. Breakfast each morning was fresh and enjoyable, and the dinners were truly outstanding—beautifully presented and delicious. The staff went above and beyond to recognize my wife’s 60th birthday, which made our stay feel extra special. The manager is excellent, and it shows in the way the team works together—you can tell staff are treated with respect, which creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. We loved hearing the monkeys howling nearby, a reminder that you’re right in the heart of Costa Rica. The resort is very well run and offers a relaxing environment. While the rooms are a bit dated, everything was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained. Overall, we were very impressed with how smoothly the property is operated and would absolutely recommend Jardin del Eden to anyone visiting Tamarindo.

This place is magical! I came home feeling so rejuvenated. The couples room was so spacious and private, with a large patio and jetted tub. The property is beautiful and well kept, with a short walk down a beautiful path to their beach area. The daily wellness activities were wonderful, and daily specials on spa services. We did a couples massage and it was amazing. The food was delicious! The staff members were friendly and amazing people! The value for the price is unbeatable! We had an amazing trip, wasn't ready to leave!

My husband and I just enjoyed five amazing nights at Jardín del Edén Boutique Hotel. What really set this property apart was the attentiveness of the staff. From check-in to daily breakfasts and evening meals—both exceptional—to cocktails down at the beach, the service was always above and beyond. The property is simply gorgeous. Set back from the busyness of town yet only steps away, our time there felt like a true escape. One morning, while having coffee on our balcony, we watched a family of monkeys scamper across the rooftops below. At the pool, iguanas lounged in the sun as if they’d claimed the place for themselves. Down at the beach, there were plenty of chairs, and the private bar area and plunge pool were perfect. Even though the hotel was full, the space was so well laid out that we often felt like we had it to ourselves. During our stay, we went on daily walks, took a catamaran snorkeling trip, enjoyed an amazing day of sportfishing, and watched beautiful sunsets from the privacy of Jardín del Edén’s beachfront garden. So if you’re looking for a relaxing retreat that still gives you access to everything the area has to offer, this is the place.

We stayed here just over a week and loved every second of it! The staff were so kind and tentative. The room was gorgeous and relaxing with the jacuzzi and stunning views. A beautiful walk to the beach and main strip made it feel secluded yet right around everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

The location is perfect — just steps from the beach — yet still private and peaceful in a way that makes you instantly relax. The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, the experience was a full 5 stars. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and always went above and beyond. The food was absolutely 10/10 every single day. And to top it all off, my girlfriend and I got engaged here on our very first night, which made this place even more special to us. We’ll always remember this stay and can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely lovely boutique hotel. The luscious green gardens are an absolute dream. Well manicured property, impeccable service, and the romantic dinners made for an unforgettable honeymoon. The amount of people at the pools was perfect. Not to many and not empty either. You'll never struggle with finding a pool lounger or a day bed (which are free, no reservations required, no fee). It is close to everything, restaurants, other hotels, as well as bars dancing. I highly recommend Jardin de Eden.

The hotel and its grounds are absolutely stunning, genuinely like the garden of Eden. Relaxing on a daybed by the pool truly feels like a slice of paradise. There is also a private access area on the beachfront which has incredible views of the sunset. The rooms are huge and immaculate. Location is also great with plenty of excellent bars and restaurants nearby! Although the service was great, if we’re being picky, it could have been a little more personable. There were also a few moments that weren’t quite that 5 star experience and didn’t quite match the otherwise perfect vibe. One example is being told to keep your cutlery from starters through to mains.

Wow! This hotel was absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend took me on a trip to Costa Rica for my birthday and we stayed here for our last two nights! Wish I could have stayed longer! The rooms were spacious, just a walk away from the beach. By the way, the walk path to the beach is beautiful 😍 the hotel staff was AMAZING! Hats off to Leo and Jeremy at the front desk. They made our stay magical! They are so much fun! I cant WAIT to come back and stay here! Oh and the sunset view *muah* stunning 😍 thrn there's the restaurant where I had some of the best food in my life. Breakfast was amazing with so many options! And the Jam options are amazing and fresh! Best bloody Mary's from Andy! Oh and dont get me started on that tuna tartar. I will be dreaming about that til I return! And dinner. OMG different menu every night with amazing blends of meat and veggies. You get an app to yourself and a meal and we'll as amazing desert. Please dont pass this place up! Pico Bistro Tamarindo is a charming beachside restaurant offering a great atmosphere and stunning ocean views. The menu features a diverse selection of international dishes, including orange-poached eggs and fresh seafood. This cozy bistro cafe serves first-rate coffee at reasonable prices, along with delightful options like tapas, paninis, and bowls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With ample outdoor seating right on the beach, it's an ideal spot to enjoy delicious food in a beautiful setting.
A slice of heaven, you must visit! Located on the beachfro t, but with lovely sandy pebbles on the floor instead of messy sand. With options to sit close to the beach, inside or on a cute couch with a view of the outside. The service is very quick and attentive, which speaking as a Londoner who is familiar with slower service countries, I say this is a strong compliment. The food and drinks are lovely. Honestly, just come for the view. The outside on the beach is a dream. Situated under multiple trees, it's the best! My only suggestion is that when we sat kn the couch, it was annoyingly bumpy when people walk by due to the wooden flooring. Also, we always struggling when eating kn the beach with flies (not just a problem for this restaurant), so I would suggest some good candles and fans (I googled and asked AI for ideas to help).

Breakfast right on the beach? Yes, please! This restaurant opened earlier than most, and we were there promptly at 7. :00. With the sun rising so early in Tamarindo Beach, you'll want to get up and enjoy every moment of sun and sand. There were interesting choices on the menu, and I really liked the Nordic breakfast.

Simply fantastic. We went here twice and each time was better than the other. The food was perfect. In fact, ceviche was the best we've had in Costa Rica. And let me not even begin complementing their coffee, but I will. It's superb. Cappuccino was beyond delicious with perfect presentation. Oh yeah, did I mention they're also right on the beach? Bullseye.

We came here for lunch. They have an inside area with bar and tables where they have AC and the beach area where you can eat as well. They have a lot of options to chose from. They have a high chair with a toy that keeps your baby entertained. We had the casado bowl and the spicy fish bowl. They were both good and filling. The spicy fish bowl was not too spicy either. It could have a bit more fish though. Service was efficient, they could smile a bit more. Music was a bit loud inside. We enjoyed our lunch all together.

With numerous gourmet eateries offering everything from poke to vegan treats, French pastries, juicy burgers, and pizza, there's something to satisfy every craving. This outdoor food court is perfect for families and budget-friendly too.
A Hidden Gem with Great Food and Vibes! We spent an evening at El Mercadito de Tamarindo after an exciting day of ATV touring and meeting up with some friends — and we’re so glad we found this hidden gem! El Mercadito feels like a vibrant food hall with an awesome selection of food vendors offering something for everyone — from Costa Rican, Mexican, Japanese, Argentinian, to American cuisine. Every dish we tried was flavorful and fresh, and the variety made it perfect for our group with different tastes. To top it off, we couldn’t resist dessert — the kids loved their ice cream and shakes, and it was the perfect way to end the night. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and family-friendly, with great music and an upbeat vibe. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner or a fun night out, we highly recommend checking this place out.

Great local place with various food vendors. There’s some cover but no A/C. However, we found it just fine like that. We came here a few times and tried local Costa Rican food (casado), Venezuelan (fresh smoothies and tequeños), crepes, and seafood (fish fillet with salad and tostones). The food is yummy, prices are a bit better than in restaurants but still not cheap even though it’s a food court. Don’t expect much service here, it’s very much self-serve, just like in any other food court. It’s clean and atmospheric with music and greens around you.

We stopped by for late night dinner and ended up staying for drinks with the owner of the Mercadito. Fantastic Caipirinhas, fish and shrimp tacos and huge sized chicken wings! We will be back! I also love that they accept everyone not only in the restrooms, but also in general, even Batman!!

Great open air food court with reasonable prices. My family enjoyed the ceviche, the best that we had while in Costa Rica. My favorite place in the food court was the steak location, had an excellent ribeye cooked to a proper medium rare. There is also a good ice cream place for dessert or milkshakes. And then the bar has the coldest beer that I was able to get while here. Prices were reasonable and service was fast. There are a few local cats who hang out here too.

If the few beach-side hotels, this is by far the best. Best location on the beach and centrally located such that everything is within a walking distance of the main strip. In fact it is on the main strip. The breakfast buffet is fabulous. Even though they serve almost the same things every day, there is sufficient variety and the food is delicious. The staff are great and courteous. The beach is long and wide- especially in the morning at low tide Highly recommend for families and couples

What a cool little food court! This place is back off of the main strip, but super accessible. The collection of restaurants is impressive, ranging from gourmet hamburgers to top-notch tacos, hand-rolled sushi to Argentinian top sirloin. Top it all off with ice cream or belly up to the Medusa, a bar with a BOAT in it! By the way, the bartender knows his stuff. This place doesn't really come to life until dinner, which is usually after sunset here. Friendly atmosphere and good music put this over the top, securing their 5-star review. Once you find this food court, you'll want to come back again and again so you can try all they have to offer.

Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica is a charming beach town with diverse shopping options, a mini casino, and various accommodation choices. The locals are friendly and the beaches are perfect for long walks. Visitors can enjoy activities like surfing, kayaking, and horseback riding. The area offers a mix of restaurants, bars, and hotels catering to tourists from different countries.
Do you like long moonlight walks on the beach? Long sunlight walks on the beach? Good food, with great drink variety? The core is great with diverse shopping choices, a mini casino, and quite a few options for accommodations. The surfing is amazing. This lovely little town doesn't feel like a tourist trap at all. The locals are very friendly and helpful. The beaches are perfect. The monkeys are howlers and have a presence. Loved the place 10/10 I will return

Nice tourist area, the chicken pinchos are really good, walk along the beach, you get to see more things to do, like massages, horse back riding. Kayaking, water rafting, eating beach front is nice, people selling things can get a bit annoying when you're trying to eat or take a rest, but that's how they make a living.

The locals call it TamaGringo. Some very nice boutique hotels. Beautiful sunsets. It was nice to have a town to be in but most restaurants are expensive. Much more touristy. Selling souvenirs everywhere horse waste on the beach. Drug dealers in the beach were aggressive. Perfect waves though.

The beach is quite nice but not very long and you definitely have nicer ones in Costa Rica. Also the Tamarindo beach town was not nice, not a calm quiet place in the nature. Now it was not busy obviously but it seems that normally this would be a cheap dirty beach party place. In two days we got offered drugs several times and in general didn't feel very comfortable here. There are definitely better places in the country!

Selina Tamarindo is a popular choice for budget travelers in Costa Rica, offering simple dorms and private rooms. The property features a casual restaurant/bar and a pool, creating a vibrant atmosphere where guests can connect and hang out. While some guests have noted that the facilities could use improvement, the hostel's standout feature is its unbeatable surfing school program.
If you are looking a fun place to stay, Selina is the perfect place to go. The rooms are cozy and clean, I got a private room and it worth it, taking in account the price I paid for it. The hostel have different activities to enjoy and meet people.
JuanesOlivella — Google review
Despite the excellent location and social opportunities in the hostel, it feels/looks/is very dirty and crumbling. The door to our dorm was completely misaligned so it scraped on the floor any time someone entered or existed, it has a massive hole in the top of the door and within the door itself, which let in both bugs and the humidity. Our bathroom felt like it had a layer of grime over it along with a dead roach in our bathroom. Our bathroom bin was full when we arrived and no toilet paper. When we were shown our dorm, we were not assigned a bed or told we could chose, we were just left in the room and some of the ‘clean’ beds were dirty with sand and bugs from outside. The pool water looked filthy so didn’t even bother with that. Despite being advertised as a hostel, the kitchen was removed on the 25/01 and the pictures have not been updated to reflect this. Value for money was awful - spoke to multiple people who were told they had gotten ‘the last beds available’ and people who were given the wrong room upon checking in and then ‘upgraded’ to their original room. Pros: parking, location to beach/local amenities
Ciara — Google review
Arrived to our hotel and it did not exist. It was padlocked shut and no one around. Emails I received were of changing their name but said it would not affect our reservation at all, we even had paid already online when we originally booked. Locals said it had been closed for a few weeks, we had to find a new hotel last minute. Would rate 0 stars if able.
Kelsey E — Google review
This hostel has a lot of potential - it’s a 2 minute walk to the beach, has a nice bar/hang out area, and the pool is nice (but not the cleanest at times). The staff were nice and the AC worked. However, we were quite disappointed with the lack of basic amenities at this facility. The rooms smelled terrible and were very small. The toilets malfunctioned often and were not stocked with paper towels or soap. The lighter used to turn on the stovetop also did not work so we had to buy our own. My brother’s swim trunks were stolen while left out to dry. The employees said they would review the camera footage but never did. WiFi worked half the time and the shower is very cold. We shared a private room and could hear the club music from the bar until 2am which wasn’t ideal either. It is unfortunate as Selina hostels generally have a good reputation. This one just lacked basic cleanliness.

This place is no longer opened, on airbnb, booking and other platforms has the name of slumber party but its closed. Someone still writing and "booking" spaces and asking for deposits, but when you get to the place is closed. And they keep the money. This place is a scam. Beware of it.

Bed bugs! I have a lot of bites and am afraid I took bed bugs home! Now I see reviews one several websites. One of them is a facebook review of 2 moths ago were they say the staff know about the problem, but doesn't do anything about it. It doesn't surprise me. It is very dirty too!

This was, by far, the worst Selina experience I’ve ever had. I’ve stayed at several Selina locations around the world and usually had great experiences, so I chose the Tamarindo location expecting the same. Unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. I was checked into the wrong room upon arrival. Basic amenities like soap or shampoo were missing — not even hand soap in the toilets. My friends and I got bitten by bedbugs during our stay. The breakfast was overpriced, tasted terrible, and took an unreasonably long time to prepare. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Save your money and avoid the disappointment.

We stayed multiple days in diffrent rooms. The Hostel is clean and has a nice vibe. Location is perfect a few meters to the beach. The bar sometimes charges to much for the drinks tell them you want the cheap gin. :)

The menu features an array of delights from various Asian countries, promising a gastronomic journey. The chic setting adds to the dining experience. Customers have praised the sushi and rolls for their quality and value, while also recommending dishes like miso soup, edamame, and teriyaki beef. The volcano roll is particularly popular for its unique presentation and delicious taste.
Chicken pancit and lumpia! Proper Filipino cuisine in the heart of the bustling and hip, elevated food stall emporium. Well worth it! Excellent flavor and big portions.

Friendly people. Their rolls are good by tamarindo standards, we went back for another time because we were craving Asian food after a couple days here. Ordered the chop suey to eat more vegetables and felt we should’ve just gotten a salad from the supermarket.

Bomb sushi one of the better spots in tamarindo. A great lunch spot. Fresh local tuna, we loved the nigiri and special rolls. Really generously sized rolls. We left full and very content. Definitely recommended. Also the miso soup was very tasty and fresh. We loved the special rolls too, we got a volcano and dragon roll. Bomb!

We love their volcano roll. The chef added a little noodle mix on the top! 👍 We came back the next night for the volcano roll and the shrimp pancit!!! 👍 Very good food at reasonable prices!

Great food and fast service. We had the miso soup, edamame, California rolls, Crunchy rolls and teriyaki beef - all very good! You can have a small plate with soy sauce for the sushi and refill it. We definitely recommend this place, pricing was decent too!

Delicious Asian delicacies (noodles, rice dishes and sushi) prepared in this side of the world. Fast service and good food especially if you are craving for a Filipino dish. Decent servings for the price as well.

Came early for lunch but didn’t eat here, though we love the food, the two women cooking were continually eating directly out of the food they were preparing. GROSS!

Sushi restaurant
Bamboo Sushi Club is a tastefully decorated, intimate restaurant located in the heart of Tamarindo. Once inside the garden setting, it exudes tranquility and romance. The menu offers a wide selection of traditional and unique specialty rolls, salads, noodles, rice bowls, sashimi, meatballs, and other Asian-inspired dishes. The seafood is consistently fresh with the exception of locally caught salmon. This spot is perfect for those seeking a lighter yet indulgent dining experience.
This restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants to ever exist. The environment as you walk in is magical. As soon as we got in we were seated and our food was on the way. I started of eating edamame then I proceeded to eat the chicken dumplings and they were amazing. Soon after that I ate some of the best sushi i have ever had in my life and there was so much of it. After that the waiter asked if i wanted dessert and i was hesitant to order because i didn't recognize some of the choices, but from the previous meals i felt that i could trust that it would be mouth watering so ended up getting banana tempura. And for people who don’t know what it is, its fried banana with vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup on top. And it was excellent. It is probably one of my top 5 favorite foods. Also the service was excellent. I would like to give a shout out to my servers name who i do not remember but she enhanced my experience here . And as we were leaving we saw to people looking at the menu outside and we told the of the outstanding food that we just had and they ended up going in.
Ciaran — Google review
Beautiful ambiance! Spray bug repellent before arriving as this restaurant is entirely outside! A little disappointed with the food. We ordered veggie spring rolls (delicious sauce, nice and crispy), miso soup (flavorful and warm), two different tuna rolls (both were kind of lack luster) and a tofu bowl (a ton of food, good vegetarian option, sauce was flavorful, the ratio of rice to veggies was balanced). We were able to just walk up without a reservation. We did not drive here so we cannot speak to how parking is!

Easily a 10/10—the best sushi I’ve ever had. The service was outstanding; Maurice and Chef Sergio were so welcoming and guided us through an unforgettable chef’s tasting. The atmosphere was perfect, and every single dish was absolutely mind-blowing. A must-visit spot to bring your friends!

I had a fantastic time dining here today! I tried the Tico Roll which has plantain on top - what a creative and delicious dish! I also had the Hibiscus Margarita at the recommendation of Mauricio (fantastic member of the staff who took good care of me while I dined here). I can’t wait to come back for more of their dishes. Easily the best sushi in Costa Rica that I’ve had the pleasure of trying!

Amazing food, everything is so fresh. Mau (Mauricio) was our server and you’d think he owned this place with how passionate he is. He had photos at the ready and his every recommendation were 🔥 We will definitely be back! Highly recommend the Tuna tataki, Crunchy Nigiris, Ahí tuna nigiris, Tico roll, spicy tuna, Tex mex rolls
Emily S — Google review
Bamboo Sushi Club was perfect for a late night meal when we were hungry. The vibe was super cool, the decor and ambience were on point and the service was really nice. The sushi was incredibly fresh and the tuna was locally sourced which we loved. Salmon and the tuna were the best. We loved the steamed dumplings too, very light for pork. The fresh juices were unreal. I had the best pineapple juice of my life here. A great spot in Tamarindo for fresh sushi, good energy and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Matthew R — Google review
Nice servers and cute decor. Fish quality is very low and probably frozen badly. Sashimi falls apart under its own weight, rough texture, and everything tastes like air. Rice is gummy, overly sweet, and missing enough vinegar. Very nice presentation though.
David C — Google review
Super delicious sushi!! but they add a “high” service fee at the end which we didn’t know before which makes everything a bit more expensive than expected. it would be better if they would already include it into the price priory but i’d still recommend visiting this place for some good sushi!

Enea's La Vera Cucina Italiana is the ideal place to indulge in authentic, homemade Italian cuisine. This restaurant offers a variety of tempting dishes, including traditional pizzas like Napoli with tomato sauce, oregano, basil, and anchovies; Diavola with tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and basil; and Della Casa with white pizza topped with mozzarella, provolone, onions, and Italian ham.
Such great food, friendly service and fair prices! We had the margarita pizza and spinach ricotta ravioli, fresh ingredients and big portions! Definitely recommend

Great, authentic and fresh Italian food! A great option to switch up from the days of fish my Husband and I had on our honeymoon. Our server was also the owner (from Lake Como)- so friendly and nice. We had the caprese salad, gnocchi pesto, pizza and desserts. We loved it all! My only complaint (not related to the food or service) is to invest in the bathrooms!

We had the most amazing meal tonight at Enea’s. We have walked by a few times this week and finally decided to give it a go tonight — so glad we did! The buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto were so fresh and yummy. My husband had the lasagna and I had the spaghetti bolognese - we can’t say enough good things! The food and service were top notch! We only wish we had come sooner in our trip!

I finally tried this place after many visits to Tamarindo and I highly recommend it! The Bruschetta was some of the best I’ve ever had - we ordered another it was so good! The homemade ravioli was huge, so come hungry! My spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the sauce made me want to lick the bowl. The wine list is great, staff was accommodating, and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming. Stop here for a wide variety of incredible Italian food!

I was very exited for the food. I was a little disappointed with how it turned out. The photos in the reviews online looks very good but my açai bowl was not the best. Between the 3 of us, we ordered chicken and veggie tacos which were great. My wife had a coffee, I had a coconut lemonade and kid got water....the lemonade was exceptionally good. Service was fine but had to repeat order several times before they got it right.

Looking for a great lunch place with amazing food especially tacos…this is the one. Nestled in the beginning of the tourist area across from Tamarind Dria. It has an adorable outdoor with friendly staff to great you. Lots of taco options but sells other stuff too like açaí bowls, milkshakes and you can pick your own fruit for a delicious smoothie. I got the surf and turf tacos while my husband got the shrimp ones. We were both more than pleased with presentation and taste. I then decided to just get a passion fruit smoothie bc I love the fruit itself and you just can’t find this in the states. Husband got a pina colada smoothie and he equally enjoyed as well. Kid friendly as I saw a few kids enjoy meals too. Definitely a must stop and fairly priced.

Some really delicious food and drinks here, a special shout out for the chicken burrito and the iced frappe Americano, as good as we've had anywhere in Costa Rica. The ladies working there were all friendly too, a very pleasant spot for some lunch in Tamarindo

Honestly very VERY disappointed with how the cashier scammed us! We ordered a smoothie bowl dragon fruit, a tico breakfast.l, an orange juice and two sides of fried plantains. 1st , they bring us 2 bananas, we kindly tell the lady that we had ordered 2 sides of fried plantains. She comes back with the equivalent of one side of barely fried plantains. 2nd, we arrive back home which we are 1h40 min away, we check our bank account, only to find out that they charged us ~85$ USD (118 CAD). Pictures below are: - A screenshot of their Facebook story in which we appear ordering at the counter. - A picture of the amount they charged us (in CAD) - and a picture of the smoothie bowl I had ordered I would love to hear back from you guys as of why you OVERCHARGED us. Mind you we ordered, speaking in spanish the whole time. We might not be ticos, but you have no right to abuse from people this way just because we don't look like we are from cr. Genre tramposa ≠ pura vida Me da un asco esa situación. Espero que resuelvan el tema pronto, y tomen consecuencias con la cajera.

In Tamarindo, there are several standout eateries to explore. Little Lucha Tacos is a tiny Mexican restaurant known for serving some of the best tacos in town. The place is decorated with Mexican wrestling figurines and features a VW bus converted into a bar, adding to its vibrant energy.
Nacho Average Meal! Sometimes the best meals are the simplest ones packed with flavor and fresh ingredients in a cool atmosphere. We stopped by on Costa Rica’s Independence Day where they offered Taco Tuesday prices on a Monday. All tacos $3 and $5 margaritas. Fabi was warm and inviting! Juan Luis Guerra’s Bachata Rosa was playing in the background. Colorful murals in a vibrant setting. We had the pineapple jalapeño margarita, a variety of tacos (birria, carne and fish), and complimentary chips and salsa. Sauce lovers unite as they give you three options to savor. The Ensenada fish taco was perfectly fried with a crunchy outside, hot flaky interior, contrasted with the crisp cabbage and creamy sauces. I already decided I needed to come back again tomorrow for that same taco after just one bite.

The food here was absolutely amazing! Everything tasted super fresh, and it came out so quickly 🍽️✨ There were plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options, which was such a nice surprise. I ordered the watermelon agua fresca, and wow… it was incredible! 🍉💦 I highly recommend it! We actually chose this restaurant because of Nichole, who greeted us outside with a friendly smile and a coupon for churros 😄🍩 She told us all about the place, and she was just the sweetest! Throughout our visit she made sure we had everything we needed and truly made the experience even better. Ordering was fast, the food came exactly how we expected, and it was so easy to have a conversation at our table without too much noise 💬💛 The décor was super cute, and the artwork around the restaurant was beautiful 🎨✨ Overall, such a lovely experience — delicious food, great vibes, and wonderful service! Highly recommend! 🌟💕

Our second time here in a week. The food is outstanding! Tacos are so fresh, so delicious; best in town for sure. The margaritas are also amazing. We’ve been to Mexico many times and this spot is as good or better than anything we have had there. Fish, birria, barbacoa and conchinitia. Awesome. Melanie is an excellent server! ATV Tamarindo offers a variety of tours with friendly and knowledgeable guides. The UTV night tour was a unique experience, and the company's competitive pricing made it even more appealing. The guides, such as Kasey, Brian, Ronnie, and Daniel, were highly praised for their expertise and hospitality. They provided great photography/videography skills and captured memorable moments during the tours. The beautiful views and great terrain added to the overall experience.
Fantastic time!! Gustavo was our guide for the 4-hour ATV tour, and he used every minute of those 4 hours to show us a memorable time. He stopped to point out howler monkeys in the trees and gave us time to stop and take photos. We rode through lush jungle, passed green pastures, splashed through muddy creek beds and visited three different local beaches where we had enough time to hope out and swim. Gustavo was knowledgeable about the local area and its historical significance, and had a good sense of humor to boot (encouraging my husband at one point to drive ‘fast’ through the mud to give us a mud bath - so funny, joke’s on me 😂). Our family of 4 will have memories for a lifetime. Thanks ATV Tamarindo!
Roslyn S — Google review
As someone who has ridden all kinds of ATV’s all over the world, this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Do the 6 hour, it’s more than worth it! And request Gustavo if he’s available, he felt less like a guide and more like a friend I’d known for years that was showing me all of his favorite places. We saw howler monkeys, took mountain trails, crossed rivers, and went to multiple remote beaches. We asked to find some more challenging trails and Gustavo delivered. He is also an excellent camera man (Google won’t let me post the videos he took). You get way out of Tamarindo and get to explore the countryside! And if you’re like me and wondering if these little quads are worth it, they have more than enough power to rip through the countryside. That’s coming from someone with a built 400ex 🤙🏽

Vindi Tamarindo

Supermarket
Vindi Tamarindo is a newly established market located near the gym and La Esquina. It's often preferred over other supermarkets in the area due to its cleanliness, well-stocked shelves, and slightly lower prices. The store offers a variety of items including fresh fruits, veggies, bakery goods, pre-made meals, liquor, and snacks. Visitors can find everything they need for cooking or even unique souvenirs.
Small grocery store with a bit of everything. Good prices. Clean. Well organized and clearly marked. Small portions good for travelers doing some cooking /meals on their own or even out of the ordinary souvenirs for folks at home. Secure off street parking on-site. (Bank with guard right next door.)
FQL — Google review
Their selection is limited but I was always able to get stuff that worked for what I was doing. Prices are reasonable, the location is convenient. Of the three grocery stores in tamarindo, Vindi is my favorite though Pura Vida supermarket had the pasta and sauce I prefer. Overall a good market though it could be a little better. The employees are nice and helpful.

Great little grocery store in the central area that has a little bit of everything, such as, liquor, cigarettes, produce and meats.
Jamaine G — Google review
It’s convenient but definitely the most expensive store in Tam. Watch the cashiers as they shorted me $1500 colonies once and I’m quite sure it was on purpose because instead of giving me change correctly I was give a bunch of small denominations of coins and no paper bills or larger denomination coins. I started checking my change after that and caught the cashier while still standing there and it was made right, like it was a mistake, my ass. Pay attention!
James C — Google review
Small well-stocked grocery store, clean, has air conditioning which not all grocery stores have, but a bit more expensive than others. Nice pastry selection and some ready food. Good selection of cold drinks and the freezers and fridges are in good order.
Ella — Google review
Ok, we're tourists, but there is a great selection of wines, fresh and delicious items + a good wine/ spirits. Of course just don't forget it's much more expensive than the larger Super Mercados in the area

Good selection and stays open until late. Some stuff you can shop around for better price.

The store is very clean , wide isles and very organized. The employees greet you upon entry and smile! They are very friendly, which really does mean alot. Another local store? They give nasty looks, don’t really want to help, need some training on how to treat people. The store’s vegetables and fruits are very fresh. I will take the extra 5 minutes to shop at Vindi and pass the other.

Great restaurant! The interior design was awesome! Our waiter was from Argentina and was super kind and friendly. Menu is great with a wide variety of options. Everything was very fresh! The poke bowl was amazing but the best thing was the tuna steak! Probably the best dish we’ve had so far. We came for dinner but would definitely go back for breakfast too just based off of the quality of how our dinner was.

La Oveja is a great spot in central Tamarindo. Dinner is tasty and portions are fair for the price. The real highlight is breakfast—the típicos with coffee are filling and authentic. The place has a big tree that’s literally part of the restaurant, so it feels relaxed and tropical. Inside, the A/C keeps it comfortable. Service is friendly and helpful. There’s live music a few nights a week; the volume is right, so you can still talk. Easy to find and easy to come back. Come for dinner, but don’t miss breakfast.

I came here twice on my vacation because the food and the atmosphere was so good. I didn’t like the poké because that was not that flavorful. The ceviche was absolutely great, and the fish tacos were stellar. I also tried the skewered shrimps with sweet potato skins and that was fantastic. They also have evening decaf cafecitos and dessert which were such a nice end to our days here.

Here's a short review: Found a breakfast haven in Costa Rica! We loved it so much we went back twice! Fresh, delicious food, generous portions, and creative dishes made our mornings unforgettable. Quick, attentive service and a warm atmosphere made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for a fantastic breakfast experience

Everything was wonderful. I ordered the divorced eggs, chicken was a little over cooked but the sauce helped, I also loved the hot sauce. My boyfriend got the rancheros eggs and he said it wasn’t bad but wasn’t the best. Freshly squeezed orange juice was great as well

Such a great and authentic cafe! The breakfast was absolutely delicious—fresh and flavorful. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. The service was just as impressive—warm, attentive, and so friendly. Perfect spot to start the day. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a cozy atmosphere, great coffee, and a seriously good breakfast! 🍳

They offer an array of selections that appeals to all eaters, vegetarians, carnivores and vegans. Our server, MariLu is extremely attentive, kind and honestly like Family. Their organic (real fruit, not processed syrups) smoothies are the best. The most difficult part is figuring out what to order. We took a fruit smoothie to go, because it was too hard to resist.

¡Muy delicioso! Not quite so hidden anymore, this little spot has huge flavor and fresh options. I have been coming to Cafe Tico for five years now and I am in love with this place. Breakfast or lunch or just for a drink, it is a must stop when in Tamarindo. Very kid friendly and accessible. I always get a specialty coffee drink or smoothie with my breakfast/brunch/lunch here. All outdoor seating but mostly shaded. Thank you!

Came here for our last breakfast in Costa Rica, and right off the bat we loved just how cute this place looked. Starting with some fresh hot coffee and OJ and we ordered the breakfast tacos and the Tipical breakfast. The tacos were definitely the way to go, the Tipical was good, but honestly lacked a little seasoning and wasn't particularly exciting at the end of the day. But one hidden gem is their got sauce they had on the table, just a small little unlabled jug that was quite hot but delicious, I was tempted to steal it and bring it home with me! The woman running the place was incredibly sweet and attentive and would be one of the reasons I'd be happy to comeback to Tamarindo and try some more of their coffee specials!

Came here this morning to get a smoothie and the banana espresso one was absolutely amazing! The service was amazing and definitely recommend it, won't regret it! The owner was a total sweetheart considering I was dealing with a lot this morning, so decided to come back for a breakfast. Muchas gracias de nuevo, pura vida! 🙏🏽🇨🇷😭

Playa Tamarindo

Beach
Playa Tamarindo is a beautiful beach with rocks peeking out of the water, offering a unique sight depending on the tide. It's recommended to wear bathing shoes due to the presence of stones, but it's not necessary as there are ways to navigate around them. The area is bustling with energy and offers clear waters for surfing lessons. For those seeking a break from the crowds, walking south leads to a quieter stretch and access to Playa Langosta.
Great tourist beach with lots of bars, restaurants and shops around. The beach during the week had a nice crowd but we not overly packed at the end of December.
Jamaine G — Google review
Beautiful beach. Merchants on the beach with selections of drinks and snacks. Beach side massages and beautiful sunsets.
Amy C — Google review
Nice beach, but a lot of solicitation. This beach is great to go to to surf, or get expensive drinks while on the sand, or massages while listening to the waves. The beach is bustling though. Come here to rent a board and take advantage of services. For a relaxing quiet experience however go to one of the other local beaches liking Playa Langosta or Playa Grande

Such a great beach with a super chilled vibe, a fantastic sunset and warm water.

Its a nice beach but can get crowded and hard to find shade on the weekends! If u walk a bit to the south its not so many people any more and also it is possible to continue on the rocks to "Playa Langosta" (not too hard way, possible with sandals). On the north side of the beach you can pay a boat for 1-2 dollars to bring u on the other side of the river to "Playa Grande", where it is also not crowded! In the middle of Playa Tamarindo everything is expensive and its a lot of Green-gos, so i prefer the neighbour beaches!

If you have a fondness for pizza, then La Esquina is the place for you. They offer a wide variety of 19 different pizzas, along with calzones and an assortment of appetizers. Their menu also includes diverse main dishes such as fish tacos, homemade pasta, hamburgers, and chicken fingers. It goes without saying that there is something delicious for everyone here. The quality of their pizzas is truly exceptional, complemented by excellent service.
Can't express this enough, the best restaurant around. Excellent customer service, taste is amazing. Fresh home- baked bread and pizza and fair prices. Exactly what I was looking for in the area, not to crowded, parking spaces and very cozy restaurant. MUST visit.
Katherine B — Google review
It's a nice looking restaurant with tables inside and outside. Prices are higher than in other places. I tried a Calzone pizza which usually contains ham. As I don't like ham they were very friendly to change it to some other ingredients. The dough didn't taste like the real Italian dough. The same applied for the cheese which wasn't real Mozzarella. I know that they are selling some weird cheese as Mozzarella in Latin America but for a higher price for the pizza one could expect to get real Mozzarella cheese. The filling was surprisingly a lot but didn't have a good taste. They serve salt and pepper at the table but this doesn't really work for a Calzone.

This stunning eatery in Tamarindo, called L' Estanco El Jardin Escondido, is a must-visit destination. It offers a serene ambiance adorned with abundant greenery and the comforting heat of the focaccia oven. Reservations are advisable but luckily we were able to secure a fantastic table without one. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who shared captivating anecdotes and offered delectable meal suggestions.
We loved this place and was happy to find it. The food was amazing and so much flavor that I thought I was at my family house. To add to the delicious food the drinks were just as great. Overall a great experience and we almost came back for dinner on the following night but decided to give another restaurant a try. The staff was wonderful and the chef super friendly. A must visit if you are in the area and thank you for accommodating us without a reservation

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience at this restaurant! From start to finish, everything was perfect. Booking was a breeze, and our host/server Antonio made us feel completely welcome—he was knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant itself is stunning; it felt like we were dining in the middle of a lush jungle, surrounded by beautiful décor and vibrant greenery. The live music added such a wonderful, relaxing ambiance. The dinner was nothing short of amazing, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of flavor. To top it off, we were treated to a complimentary honeymoon dessert and melon shots at the end—such a thoughtful and memorable gesture. Every detail made our evening feel special. We can’t recommend this place enough!

I came here with my boyfriend and the service/food/environment was hands down absolutely AMAZING!!!! We had Antonio as our server and he was so wonderful. He was super outgoing and was so helpful explaining the menu and drinks. The food was the best meal we’ve both had in such a long time. If I could give this place a Michelin Star I most definitely would. I would 100% come again and recommended this place to anyone. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Food was amazing, best meal of our trip! Leo and the rest of staff were so friendly and attentive. Decor was beautiful and they had great live music performance. I’ll 💯 come back next time I’m in the area.

L’ Estanco is hands down the best restaurant in Tamarindo and one of the best dining experiences we have had anywhere. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. The owner personally greeted us, walked us through the entire menu and explained where the ingredients were sourced. He described each dish with passion and you could feel how much care goes into the food. The cocktails were outstanding. They asked us about our preferences and crafted drinks specifically to match our taste. I had a passion fruit margarita that was incredible and my wife had custom vodka based cocktails with egg white that were perfectly balanced. Everything was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The wine selection was also excellent. The cuisine is a beautiful blend of Moroccan and French influences with a Costa Rican touch. We started with the hummus and baba ganoush made from the owner’s grandmother’s recipe. It was the best hummus and baba ganoush we have ever had and we have dined at top restaurants in Vegas, Greece and around the world. The flavors were delicate, rich and perfectly balanced and the texture was absolutely perfect. The oven baked bread made from scratch was unbelievable and paired perfectly with the dips. Next we had the grilled shrimp in a flavorful, slightly spicy cream based sauce. The seasoning was spot on, the presentation was beautiful and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. For our main course we shared the beef tenderloin. The beef was grass fed from Nicaragua and cooked medium rare with several incredible French inspired sauces. You could instantly recognize the French influence in the depth and balance of the sauces. The vegetables and sides were delicious, fresh and well executed and the beef was tender and full of flavor. The atmosphere was just as impressive as the food. They had live music from an artist with an incredible voice. The energy was warm and emotional and the music actually moved my wife to tears because it was so beautiful. The whole vibe of the restaurant felt special. This dinner was for my birthday and they surprised us with an amazing dessert. It included house made ice cream and a passion fruit panna cotta that was one of the best desserts I have had. The presentation was thoughtful with a candle and strawberry on the plate which made the moment very memorable. L’ Estanco delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish. Everything from the service to the cocktails to the food to the atmosphere was perfect. This is a must visit in Tamarindo and worth every bit of its high rating. We will absolutely be back.
Matthew R — Google review
I wanted to leave five stars for food, but the wife said no. But the food is very good. She says no one is five stars. Whatever, but she wife, so she must be obeyed.. But seriously, the drinks were really good. Won’t find a better cocktail in town. The menu is fairly varied, would be tough for someone not to be able to find something they like, a couple vegetarian offerings that sounded good. We were here for a three night stay, this is the best meal we had in town.

This restaurant experience was great! The vibes and atmosphere were amazing from the moment we walked in. Their ever-changing menu keeps things exciting – they brought out a chalkboard and our server walked us through all the details, which made the experience feel personal and special. The food was delicious and clearly inspired by various international cuisines. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The service was the star of the show. Our waiter Bernardo was fantastic, and the manager even came out to chat with us. When they learned we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out complimentary shots and dessert – such a thoughtful gesture that made the evening even more memorable. 10/10 would recommend without hesitation. We’ll definitely be back to see what’s new on that chalkboard!

Zolu Taco Bar is a delightful Mexican-style eatery nestled in the vibrant heart of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Open from Monday to Saturday, this charming spot is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. The tacos are simply irresistible, with fresh ingredients that elevate every bite. Diners rave about the option to bring in their own catch, like mahi-mahi, which Chef Miguel expertly transforms into mouthwatering dishes.
Cute little open air taco bar. We stopped here our first night in Tamarindo and took it to go back to our condo. Great food and chill vibes while we waited. Highly recommend.

Stumbled across this taco bar by accident and ended up visiting three times during our stay in Tamarindo. The food was prepared fresh and had the most amazing flavor each time we went. It was consistently delicious & gets bonus points from me for having vegetarian options. Service was also a 10/10. Our host checked on us often and even gave us the secret recipe to the AMAZING limeade they serve there. One evening we had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he explained to us how Zolu got its name from his fur babies. If you’re looking for delicious tacos and a cozy & friendly atmosphere during your stay in Tamarindo, I highly recommend going to Zolu

Zolu is my favorite restaurant in Tamarindo. The atmosphere is so comfortable, I love the outside patio feel without being fully outside. It rained both nights my friends and I visited and it wasn’t an issue. We very much enjoyed the time. The food is delicious, I got the XL beef burrito the first night and the Beef Mexican bowl the second night. They do an excellent job with their beef and it is apparent they use quality ingredients. The owner, Mikey, is so personable and fun. Definitely ask about his dog Zoe. Zolu is one of the few restaurants in the world I would travel to revisit. I definitely recommend stopping in for a meal.

Best tacos in Tamarindo. Our first visit we had the birria and al pastor tacos and then we're 10/10. We went back for a second time and tried the baha shrimp, beef and again, the al pastor. If you are looking for delicious tacos and a good vibe... GO!!!!! If you are lucky, you'll also get to meet Zoey the owners dog she is a cutie!!!!

I HIGHLY recommend Zolu!!! The owner is so nice and friendly, very helpful with tips on where to go in Costa Rica too! We got the Mahi Mahi Burrito and the Birria tacos. Both were very incredible. My partner and I rate everywhere we go for food out of 10 and if we give Zolu an 11 out of 10, for both meals! We wanted to gear here one more time, but sadly didn’t work with our schedule! But we will definitely be back to this restaurant when we come back to Costa Rica.

Definitely an experience to remember at this cute taco bar!! We went for dinner our first night in Tamarindo and LOVED it! We were getting to know the owner, Mikey, and he let us know that if we caught fish on our fishing trip the following day, that he would prepare it for us for dinner. What an incredible experience! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area :)

My 19 years old son literally dragged me to Zolu Taco Bar. I must admit I had never noticed the place as it is behind a restaurant in a small food court… A laidback atmosphere, nothing fancy but the Tacos… are absolutely fantastic. Indescribably tasty, full of flavours. Seriously the very BEST tacos I have ever had. They are served with a little side broth to dip in and i sipped it all at the end; that how deep in flavour it was. We both highly recommend the place and will go again

La Bodega is a popular spot in Tamarindo, offering all-day breakfast with fresh, local, and organic ingredients. The eatery serves traditional Costa Rican breakfast platters like Gallo Pinto along with coffee and fresh-squeezed juice. Additionally, it offers scrumptious sandwich specials for a midday meal or light evening bite. La Bodega is known for its cozy atmosphere and locally sourced food made with love.
Off a busy and dusty street on the outskirts of Tamarindo, this is one of our favorite eateries in Tamarindo. We had different sandwiches and they were all good. The coconut chicken uses dark meat and it has a hint of tamarind that makes it stands out from other local chicken sandwiches. The shrimp avocado sandwich was also tasty with excellent buns. It’s located a bit back from the busy street, but it is across from Banco Nacional just in case you can’t find it. Service is excellent and you definitely should try this place out. Update: Today I had an opportunity to try chef’s latest creation: kimchi chicken sandwich. The sandwich was full of flavors, the chicken was fried to a perfection and of course the homemade buns were excellent. By the way, all entries come with a drink and we recommend the passion fruit juice.

Excellent quality food with wonderful service! After 20 days all over Costa Rica this was one of our favorite meals. We had the smoothie with fresh fruit (6 kinds), organic Greek yogurt, pure raw honey, chianti seeds and homemade peanut butter. Cold and very filling on it's own. We shared the Ensalada Especial with chicken. Que Rico! A cool relaxed atmosphere outside on their shaded deck.

We enjoyed a sandwich which also included a beverage and a side of home made plantain chips. Everything was excellent. The chips were delicious with a taste of fresh lime juice. The bread was home made and truly superb - like a super soft foccaccia. The beverage we chose was passion fruit juice ... so good it's addicting. The sandwich had fresh lettuce, tomato and grilled shrimp. The split our meal onto two plates so we could share. This lunch meal won't be forgotten. La Bodega restaurant is simple, unpretentious and absolutely excellent.

A great place to grab some breakfast and coffee. My boyfriend and I had a great experience here - good vibes, good food. We spoke with Richard for some time and it was so lovely getting to know more about him and connecting over our shared interests. Everyone at La Bodega was so friendly and made sure we were having a great time. I got the omelette with sausage and my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich with sausage. Both delicious. Make sure to try the hot sauce, it's fabulous. Not to mention, the prices here are great and the service was exemplary! It's a bit further off the main road but still very easy to get to. Would love to come here again. Wishing you all the best.

La Bodega is a sweet spot just off the main strip in downtown Tamarindo.. I stopped in on this rainy morning for a coffee but ended up grabbing myself a breakfast sandwich.. The owner was there and he was not only helpful but super friendly too.. Their prices are surprisingly low and the food amazing.. The latte that I ordered was perfect and even though it was raining I was able to enjoy my food outside on their cover d deck.. While waiting for my breakfast I checked out their selection of local food and health products and even though I didn’t have much money on me, I plan on grabbing some when we I return with my family for breakfast.. A great spot for a great cup of coffee, give La Bodega a shot next time you’re looking for a pick me up in Tamarindo..

This beachside bar/restaurant in Tamarindo is a hidden gem! They have several seating options in shaded areas offering the perfect view of the ocean, it’s a great spot to relax. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. Enjoying delicious drinks while taking in the stunning scenery makes for an ideal experience! I’m sure the food would be of a good quality as well but I’d only gone for happy hour. Would recommend to others in search of a good bar, especially their frozen cocktails!

Came here on back to back nights, once for dinner and once for just a little night cap. We decided to sit outside right on the beach, which I think is the go to move as long as the weather is nice enough. For cocktails we started with some happy hour strawberry daquiris, followed up by a caipirinha and Congo guaro. A little on the stronger side the first night but still delicious cocktails. I also tried their tropical old fashioned which was a fruity take on a classic favorite of mine that I would gladly recommend. My girlfriend got the beef tenderloin casada and I got the Arroz con Pollo, both were excellent Costa Rican classic choices that were so flavorful and great sized portions. We got the creamy jalapeño sauce on the side for the casada, but the meat was so flavorful it didn't even need it (but it was an excellent dip for fries!). Lastly for dessert wee got the banana split and the pineapple pie, and I was skeptical at first about the pie, but I am so sold, truly one of my favorite pies I've had and perfect with vanilla ice cream. Our server was the same woman both nights and she remembered us! She was incredibly sweet and took great care of us, and was part of the reason why we decided to come back.

Great sunset place for locals and tourists. Food and drinks were good. Outside eating you do have to deal with the fly's that want your seafood. Tonight there was music which added to the abonance of the restaurant. Parking is in an issue you have to come early or no a side street to park on. The staff was great. Happy hour was 430-530 bogo (buy one. Get one).

If there are any vegetarians or vegans in your family or group of friends, definitely order the vegan charcuterie board. Fantastic assortment of flavors with traditional Costa Rican ingredients -- cashew paté, peach palms, green papaya, yuca, corn tortilla and more 😋 Service is always sloooow, so don't go if you're in a hurry. This place was awesome. Very delicious food and excellent service. Thank you to the two young ladies that helped me both nights and to who I think was the owner/ manager. This place serves great food and at night it gets really busy. Having a DJ was a nice touch. This place is a must visit.

This is a beach side eatery, lots of different things on the menu! From Poke Bowls to Pizza, the beer is ice cold and the staff warm and friendly. lots of seafood. nice vibe. oh… the prices are aligned with town . $$

Came here for an early dinner during the week and we were seated immediately for a party of two. We decided just to split some appetizers. We got the rosemary foccacia, a plate of fries, and a platter of empanadas. The fries were so fresh, crisp, and tasty I would borderline call it the highlight of the meal! The empanadas offer a good variety of flavors and they are actually baked instead of fried which makes them just a little bit lighter than your traditional version. They also serve you complimentary popcorn instead of your usual basket of bread which I think is a fun little change from the usual. Staff were attentive and very friendly, so much so that we even offered the restaurant as a possible recommendation to some other tourists that we were talking to the next day! It's a nice casual spot that's tucked in just by the beach and the decor is exactly that to match.

Cute spot by the beach. Ordered two appetizers which were delicious! Unfortunately I couldn't enjoy it too much because there were so many flies and I spent most of the time trying to swat them away. Staff seemed to just observe frantic swatting and were just 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️ "It's just like that here". Fans/insect repelling candles should be provided on tables. Otherwise the food was decent, with similar prices to higher end seafood restaurants in Toronto. Above two apps - ceviche and octopus kebab with polenta fries (generous servings!) cost ~$32 CAD with the service charge already added on the bill. I'd recommend for the food and proximity to the beach, but not for the bugs.

Great option for sunset drinks. Happy hour is buy one get one free Food is average, but the calamari was spot on. Nice vibe with everyone chatting

This is the best place in Tamarindo to watch the sunset. The bar staff are always very attentive, quick and friendly. The view of sunset here is unparalleled. If you're visiting Tamarindo, El Chiringuito is a must. Drop in an hour or so before sunset, enjoy cold beers or refreshing cocktails while you enjoy the view. Stay for dinner or head into town afterwards.

I would give 3.5 stars. Seafood is great, but chef's choice was steak and it was...ok. It was at a lovely spot right on the beach, so it's a great spot to enjoy sunset. Bring bug sprays!!

This is our to go place when we come to Tamarindo. The breakfast is great, some vegan options for me. We've also had the lunch here, cant go wrong with the food here. Highly recommend it when you are visiting Tamarindo.

We enjoyed breakfast here. It is a little expensive considering but everything is expensive in Tamarindo. There was no wait, we were served quickly and the ladies are really nice.

Excellent brunch option for the area can be found here at Noi. This was our first time experiencing the Tamarindo area and after eating here this will become our go to for breakfast when we are ever back in the area. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as your typical brunch selections, but the ingredients are fresh and the owner was awesome and welcoming. Prices are fair as Tamarindo in general is pricey anywhere you go, so dont feed into the other reviewers complaints about cost. You should always expect for prices to be high in Tamarindo and when you compare Noi to other similar options this is the best bang for your buck.

NOI Bistro is a fantastic spot for breakfast! The açaí bowl was fresh and delicious, and the breakfast burrito was packed with flavor. Everything tasted really well-made. The service was friendly and quick, making the whole experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting!

NOI Bistro was our first meal in Tamarindo. The owner was hospitable and friendly! She gave us a lot of great recommendations about things to do and see in the area and even had us try a cocktail she’s thinking about adding to the menu. The restaurant is super cute and cozy. I ordered a smoothie and the breakfast burrito - both were yummy! The salsa that came with our meals was soo good that I bought two bottles to take home. We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Pricing was very reasonable and fair - service was excellent. It was a great start to our trip and whenever we’d drive or walk by NOI on golf cart, the owner would say hello. Next time I visit Tamarindo, I’ll make sure to return to NOI Bistro.

Really delicious and flavorful food! There was a small 5-10 min wait for a table but the owner was so nice she let us sit at the bar and order so by the time we got a table our food was ready. Really a 10/10 experience with food that filled and fueled us for a long day. Food portions are excellent for the price. Recommend 1000%! We got French Toast, Huevos Rancheros (came with sweet potatoes fries), and a Burrito (that came with fruit).

Wanted to sit on the beach and enjoy my meal but the flies... Lord the flies were over barring. Didn't even get to take a bite Had to go "inside" The portion was huge! I had a surf n turf and I don't know it you can call the shrimp shrimp. They were huge Everything was delicious

Our first impression of El Vaquero/Witch's Rock was excellent. We had just finished some surf lessons (with a different company) and we were happy to get two tables for our group of 10. Initially, our server was very attentive and even offered to place the kids' orders first. This is always a win. The kids' meals did arrive promptly. Unfortunately, the adults waited for more than an hour from time of order to eat. This wouldn't have been too terrible had we not witnessed other tables (who arrived later) receiving food before us. Eventually, several complimentary bowls of chips and dip arrived along with the ceviche we had ordered as an appetizer, but not until about 5 minutes before the actual meals. I wouldn't be surprised if our orders were forgotten. With all that being said, every meal ordered was delicious. Not one complaint. The items varied from whole red snapper, macho tacos (fish), beef sandwich, burger, etc. There was some significant confusion when trying to divide the bill, but overall, the restaurant was a nice midday lunch on the beach. The view is fantastic, but Tamarindo has gotten very busy, so be prepared for crowds everywhere.

I always come here with my family for sunset. I have been a consistent customer for two years. The food, atmosphere and service has been great until a recent hire. This waitress was incredibly rude, impatient, and incompetent. When she got my order wrong and I calmly said something, she snapped at me and told me to “calm down” and to change my attitude while laughing in my face over her mistake. I was incredibly offended. I was a waitress for 3 years and never in my life would I have spoken and disrespected a calm customer that way over my own mistake. We and others have had multiple bad experiences with her and I don’t think she is competent enough for a job that involves customer service.

Food looked delicious but seasoning was missing. The really good thing was the passionate fruit cheesecake but everything else, shrimp ceviche and the Casado was lack luster. Only flavorful item on the plate/bowl was the mango salsa. The beef, plantains and even the rice, plain.

The service here was nice but took awhile to take our order. The food took over half an hour and it was not even busy.

This place is fire. You want to party this is the spot for SATURDAY Only! DJ’s were playing reggaeton and Latin music and it was packed wall to wall. Cover charge is $5.00. Wear comfortable shoes. Each club in the area has a specific night each day of the week. Saturday is what’s happening there. If you want to explore further there some clubs and bars to left in alley that has few more clubs along the passage. Overall drinks were well done! I will go back again for dancing and just having a great time.

Okay you have to call this for what it is a Beach bar. No Frills just a fun place. There is just a great feel to this place. The food is unbelievable. I wouldn't knock the service because this is a laid back place where nobody should be in a hurry. The bartender is a grizzly guy who never smiles and looks as if he could eat you, but you get your drinks. Gaze at people, gaze at the ocean..you can always pick up a soccer game behind the bar. The food is unbelievably good. As the day transitions to night, the night crowd is just fun, fun, fun. Get serenaded by Marachi players, dance, and don't forget to wash every thing down with with an Imperial beer, Costa Rica's finest. Right on the beach you can walk over 40 yards of sand right to the waters edge. I love this little city, I love the people. I will be back.

The restaurant has a lively atmosphere with friendly bartenders serving up tasty drinks like watermelon vodkas and spicy bloody Marys. The menu includes ceviche, fish casado, and taco salad with fish protein.
Located at the front of the Tamarindo Food court, this little bar and restaurant serves up affordable drinks and food, which is also delicious. The bartenders appear to love their jobs and customers, which is great. We went there a few times, I fell in love with the taco salad (I chose the fish for the protein).

Huge exceptional portions for price. Everything was fresh. Nachos were tasty but not Americanized. Cheese was not spicy, sauces were a bit but not the hot were used to as Americans. Service was exceptional polite and accommodating. The salad was very tasty citrus salad dressing was good overall it was a lot of food that tasted super fresh. The mango smoothie was super fresh but nothing is sweet. Nothing like candy and heaps of assed sugar. Which was a treat and eye opener as to how unhealthy everything we drink and eat is.

Not bad for what it is. Love the atmosphere, right on the beach. Nachos were pretty good. The chipotle burger was ok, little too well done. We came back a second time. Had the poppers, nothing great. Definitely on the hotter side. Had the lobster, very good! Their garlic butter was fenomenal. Compared to a lot of other places the price is good as well.

We had a wonderful dinner at Caprichos this week. It was our best meal in Tamarindo! We had a delicious pizza, caprese salad, and eggplant parmesan. A guest at the W told us to visit here for the sunset and it was amazing but we also decided to stay for dinner. The food was delicious along with the drinks. Staff very accommodating even with us having nor reservation. They sat us in the bar area and served us there and then moved us to a table when one became available. Highly recommend to make a reservation before sunset so you can enjoy best of both worlds.

Our first dinner in Tamarindo was at Pangas Beach Club. The vibe and aesthetic were super cute - very beach and boho. There were a lot of options on the menu which was perfect for our group of six. I ordered the chicken which came with vegetables and mashed potatoes. It was packed with flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a few cocktails and we had the wings as an appetizer. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. I’d return to Pangas Beach Club the next time I’m in Tamarindo!

Recommended by my good friend who owns a home in Playa Grande. He said it was the best spot in Tamarindo for a sunset dinner and cocktails. From the moment we entered the service was excellent. We were seated immediately and given the opportunity to choose the best location for comfort and viewing the sunset. We got our drink orders in as soon as we sat and they came back quickly and were very tasty. We weren’t in a rush to order dinner and got in another drink order before we made our orders. Although the place was packed, our food came out in a short time and all together for our large party. As an appetizer, I got a lobster bisque with a lobster tail and it was delicious. For dinner, I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was also delicious. Everyone’s food looked great and they all commented how perfect everything was.

Cozy and fancy all at once, Pangas is located right on the beach, featuring garden lights and wooden tables. Great ambience, and decor. The service was very good, polite and attentive waiters. The food - oh my. We ordered the Grilled Red Snapper…literally the best I have ever eaten. Large, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside - absolutely divine. Tamarindo Estuary Tours

Tamarindo Estuary Tours offer a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the area. Visitors can rent kayaks or join boat tours to explore the calm waters and observe the diverse wildlife that inhabits the mangrove forests. With opportunities to spot crocodiles, monkeys, and various bird species, these tours provide both entertainment and educational value.
This was a great tour by Captain David. You can tell he loves what he does and is passionate about the estuary, the National Park and the animals. He has a great eye for spotting all of the animals which may otherwise go unnoticed and does a great job explaining everything. He also kept the kids entertained which can sometimes be a challenge. We saw many bird species including some falcons up close, iguana, one croc, raccoons, bats, termites, crabs and of course monkeys. Highly recommend this tour!
Kevin R — Google review
Super limited English from whoever our captain was (not David who I communicated with). We went late afternoon, it was high tide. With high tide we only saw a couple crocs heads and a very small baby one. However we were really there to see monkeys and we got to go on land in the jungle and see a whole family. So overall mission accomplished & was the only part we liked about our day trip to Tamarindo (tourist trap). 4 out of 5 because English wasn’t great. Bonus: leaving the parking lot we watched another family of monkeys cross the street and walk down the road on power lines. It was awesome - babies on mom’s back too. If you want to see monkeys maybe skip the boat tour and hang around the parking lot around 4:30/5:00

Wonderful tour. It rained heavily, but the boat was covered so it didn’t matter. Actually made for a more magical experience. We saw tons of wildlife. Our guide David was great. Super knowledgeable, and perfect English. He knows the estuary well, and all of the animals living there, so it was a very special tour. Would recommend.

This tour was fantastic and we learned a lot of fascinating information about the Costa Rican animals and habitat. We saw a bunch of birds, crocodiles and monkeys. We learned so much about the mangrove trees which was also very interesting. Super cool experience!

Restaurant
Agua Salada, which means saltwater in Spanish, is a vibrant and popular restaurant located in Tamarindo. This beachfront establishment offers stunning sunset views and a diverse experience as a wine bar, tropical kitchen, bakery, and live music venue. The cocktails are highly recommended, featuring top-shelf alcohol and fresh fruit ingredients such as the passion fruit-jalapeno margarita. The menu includes ceviche, burgers, and daily specials.
I hadn’t been to Agua Salada since 2021 and had been dying to come back. It was 100% worth the wait. Even though it rained, the setting was still beautiful and the atmosphere felt just as vibrant as I remembered. The rain actually added a tropical charm to the evening, making it feel even more special. I dined alone, and the staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable. The service was absolutely top-tier. Manfred and the rest of the team were incredibly attentive, welcoming, and kind. They made the whole experience feel special from start to finish. I ordered the octopus, which was perfectly cooked, and ended the night with a delicious dessert and one of the best passionfruit margaritas I’ve ever had. Seriously… to die for. This spot continues to be one of my favorite places in Tamarindo. Don’t skip it!

Wonderful food and atmosphere. The service was outstanding. Everyone was very friendly. We love that we could walk out to the beach for sunset photos and walk back. Great for large groups. Definitely try the shrimp risotto and the ceviche appetizer.

My extended family hosted a birthday celebration for 60+ people at Agua Salada, and cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. 1. Food: Buffet for such a large party was excellent. Was plentiful and the quality was amazing! 2. Drinks: Bartenders were quick and friendly, even during the party, the servers was running around always ready to take empty glasses and take new drink orders, no trip to the bar necessary. 3. Service: Impeccable. We had tents in case of rain, and when it started to drizzle, servers opened umbrellas and walked people back and forth from the tent to the bar. Servers, cooks, management... everyone was so friendly and wanted to join the party! We even went here for takeout food the day before the large party and were extremely happy with everything, you wont be disappointed. Family run business. Go here when in Tamarindo.

We rented out Aqua Salada for a 60+ private event and it was absolutely fantastic! The staff was incredible, food tasty, and atmosphere perfect. Everything was seamlessly coordinated and every one of our requests were matched. From cocktail hour to dancing, the staff ensured our group had the most fantastic time. I would recommend Agua Salada for your next event in Tamarindo or for a brunch /dinner stop.

Jas was an awesome server and the food was delicious! We loved the pan con tomate for the appetizer and the fish sandwich was wonderful! The ambiance with the seats by the ocean was refreshing! Dessert hasn’t arrived yet but came highly recommended so we are looking forward to it!

One of the most sophisticated meals I’ve had in Costa Rica. Glen, Mumford, and Dylan provided exceptional service throughout my visit and I enjoyed the chic and laid back atmosphere. Add in convenient parking and you pretty much have it all. Bravo!

Amazing food and atmosphere! Joseph was our service and he was awesome! My husband had the snapper and it’s the best he’s ever had! I had the veggie burger which was deep fried avocado and it was delicious! Highly recommend 👍

We just finished our meal at Agua | Salada and it was an amazing experience, we had the Aji ceviche, Mahi Mahi, and skirt steak, all absolutely delicious with beautiful presentation, perfect textures and flavors cooked to perfection. From the moment we walked in the door the staff were warm and friendly, our patio table was very romantic and the service was amazing, especially our server Anthony. The price for what you get is very reasonable compared to the other options in town and the quality was the best we've had on our visit. We look forward to dining here again, thank you! If you're considering this establishment you won't regret it, just don't wait until your last night in town like we did because we want to try the rest of the menu.

Restaurant
Breaking Bread is a popular bakery and cafe located near a skatepark, offering an open garage concept for guests to relax and enjoy freshly made breads like challah, buns, and baguettes. The menu also includes delectable iced lattes and chocolate croissants. This beloved spot is perfect for breakfast or lunch before heading to the beach. With its welcoming atmosphere, it's an ideal place to savor smooth espresso-based drinks alongside freshly baked pastries and breads.
My wife, son, daughter-in-law and their two young children sadly only discovered the joys of Breaking Bread 3 days before we left Costa Rica. We ended up coming all 3 of those days. What a hidden gem! We’d thought it was just a gimmicky play on words of our favourite tv series. It was so much more. We had the french challah toast (best we’ve ever had), Heisenberg Bowl (amazing), shakshouka (fabulous), delicious smoothies (refreshing and not too sweet), frothy lattes, creamy cappuccinos and Ice moccacino (my fave). We also indulged ourselves on their decadent homemade banana bread, challah, croissants and focaccia. Then for our flight home, we picked up Cuban and Spicy Tuna paninis. Wow! The owners and servers were incredibly generous and friendly, especially Anat. Great BB coffee beans and souvenir tees, too. Mucho gracias, Breaking Bread.

This place was just up the street from our accommodations in Tamarindo, so my husband and I stopped in for breakfast. As huge fans of Breaking Bad, we couldn’t resist the clever pun of this restaurant. We shared the shakshuka, which was absolutely amazing! It was served with warm, challah bread and was the perfect portion for two. We also had delicious iced lattes. They have some delicious-looking pastries as well, so we may have to go back before we leave!

This place was just down the street from our accommodations in Tamarindo, my wife and I stopped in for breakfast. We tried the French Toast and Shakshuka, both were absolutely amazing! The French Toast was light and came with delicious fresh fruit, the Shakshuka was served with fresh warm challah bread and delicious fresh chili and pesto sauce. They have fresh pastries that smelled amazing, we were to full to try any. The service was great, very friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere as well. Definitely have to go back.

An absolute delicious spot in Tamarindo! The sweetest waitress and owner! It is an easy walk from the beach and totally worth it We went back twice it was so good! Coffee and paninis are great. Do not miss out the juicy jesse - amazing sandwich on the softest & most delicious challah bread. The smoothies are so fresh and pastries are perfectly sweet. This place is amazing. Do not miss on your next visit!!

My best friend recently got married in Tamarindo and I had the pleasure of helping with wedding planning. We chose El Santuario for the welcome dinner, which was attended by 45 people. The location and staff were impressive, as they were very responsive and accommodating throughout the planning process. The event itself was flawless and held in a beautiful garden setting. The food and drinks were incredibly tasty, something that all guests agreed upon.
This gastronomic center looks nice and the food was acceptable. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. However, there is one strong criticism: the restrooms. They need to improve a lot because they're like saunas and don't work. They're also dirty. Nice complex, but the restrooms are embarrassing.

Not impressed with the food. Flavor in seafood plates was non-existent. I was highly anticipating the risotto with red wine and received a sweet tasting risotto that tasted like sugar was added. Interesting meals. Not sure if those rating were persuaded ratings or actually earned. I ordered a Medium steak and got a well done, hard to cut meal. Again, Interesting take on steak. Hardly any flavor and I'm never the one to complain so I didnt. I left quietly and vowed not to try it again. The service was unimpressive. Our waiter doesnt know her menu or perhaps new. Either way disappointing. Appetizers were the only thing that were ok.

The pizza and the drinks were incredible, I highly suggest you to try this pizza and any of the dishes they have here. The personnel is very kind and friendly! Loved the way they treated us!

Ate a late dinner here twice and it was consistently pleasant both times, even though we were dining within the last hour before closing. This was one of few restaurants that were open till 10pm and they didn't rush you to finish you meal even if it was after closing. The place is expansive, much more so than one would think from the roadside so take a walk around to look at table options before deciding where to sit. There is a lovely garden area to the back for example. I loved the decor and how cozy it made the restaurant feel. The appetizers are very generously sized, so may be worth sharing if you're not enormously hungry. The seafood linguine was so good!! The octopus was meaty and wonderfully grilled, the shrimp were plump and tender and the sauce was rich while still marrying well with all the seafood present. Pizza options are plentiful and big enough to share amongst two (or have a couple slices to take away if you order for one). The only downside experienced was an inconsistency in the cocktails. Some were quite strong and delicious, while others were very weak and tasted more like a juice / soft drink than an alcoholic beverage. Overall serving staff were attentive and food generally came out fairly quickly.

This was my first time traveling to Costa Rica, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction than dinner at El Santuario. From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed – the ambiance is warm, cozy, and elegant, with just the right touch of Italian charm tucked into a tropical paradise. But what really made the experience unforgettable was Diana, my server. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations that made it feel like I had a local friend guiding me through the meal. Her genuine warmth made the evening feel special and personal. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every bite tasted like it was made with love and fresh, high-quality ingredients. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces rich and flavorful, was the perfect meal. If you're visiting Costa Rica (Tamirindo) and want a delicious, authentic Italian meal with exceptional service, El Santuario is a must. A big thank you to Diana for making my first night here so memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back! Also gluten free friendly!

We were so excited to check out El Santuario based on the crowds, the grill, and the overall vibe. It's a beautiful restaurant with live music the night we visited. The drinks were great, too, and the sangria looks amazing. Unfortunately, the menu is fairly limited and the quality of the food was mediocre. Added to the average flavour of the food (and the fairly unappetizing presentation), the service was abysmal. We had to ask twice for water and the cheque. Our food did not come out at the same time and the server did not bring us silverware, so we had to ask someone else for that. It may have been an off night for our server, but coupled with the food, I would not go back.

Cool spot, close to the beach. We ordered the chimichurri steak - well seasoned and a calzón - tasty too. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay but it wasn’t good - it was flat and felt like the bottle was opened for a while and had I known that I would have ordered something else. You’re paying for everything so you might as well enjoy. On another note, we asked for tap water - in Costa Rica tap water is perfectly safe to drink and unless you have a burning desire to spend $10 on a plastic bottle of water - this should be entirely a choice. They told us they didn’t have tap water, and our only option was buying plastic bottle water which obviously we did. Aside from this - which I hope the restaurant corrects, the experience was good and the food tasty. Might go back at some point.

We had an absolutely incredible meal here last night for a romantic night out. The staff were so friendly, the food was amazing (and homemade focaccia is always a plus!). The mixed grill for one (seen here) is absolutely loaded with food and we could have shared it with plenty leftover. Delicious!!

Sprout Tamarindo is a great place to get healthy, locally sourced food in Tamarindo. The food is fresh and moderately priced, and the staff are always happy to accommodate for dietary needs. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten-free meals, making it a great choice for all guests.
We went here for the Monday special which is 50% off a burrito or bogo burrito. Overall I would say the burrito is well worth the half-price price of ₡3250 rather than the regular ₡6500 each. One thing I did not like: because it is a special, it does not include a side. That really is not half price. If you take away the side that normally comes with the item you can't say it is half price. The side costs ₡1500 if ordered separately. It should be ₡2500 for the deal. (6500-1500)/2=₡2.5mil The burrito itself was very good, and a good portion size. Update: updated from 4 to 5 stars based on the caring response from the owner. A personalized response is appreciated.

Delicious veggie tacos. Delicious healthy beet smoothie. Best food I’ve had during time in Tamarindo. Very nice customer service. I’m coming back before I leave.

Convenient location on the main road across from the beach. Fresh and healthy meals that are quite tasty. I would recommend starting with the calamari appetizer followed by the blackened mahi mahi salad as well as the hibiscus tea. Skip the cinnamon roll at the end, it was fine but nothing particularly memorable. The server could have been a bit friendlier but we all have bad days. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this venue for lunch.

Healthy food in a not so healthy environment. We went there for lunch after reading the glowing reviews on google! It wasn’t busy at all so we got served fairly fast. We sat at the booths and right after I sat down I noticed that the seating was super dusty and dirty. I thought that was kind of gross but kind of ok at the same time as it’s an indoor/outdoor restaurant and things like that can happen. I got a salad and before I started eating I realized there was a super long hair in my plate. I immediately told the server, she brought me a different Salad and was genuinely sorry about what happened. I got grossed out again but things like that happen... I guess. The new salad comes with a little bug walking around. I didn’t say anything though. It could have been from the lettuce. I understand that things happen I just don’t know how everything happened to me!!! My $10 Salad was ok, nothing special. We also got a $15 sandwich which was good. I think the place is quite expensive for what it is. The ladies who work there are super nice though.

Best burritos in town and definitely a recommendation. We loved the custom burritos where you can choose lots of options. My wife is veggie so she wouldn't choose a meat option. The waiter was so kind to let her choose an additional option instead. The sausages were delicious and the portions were big enough to fill our bellies. Even free wifi was provided. We would definitely have come again if we were still in Tamarindo.

Sprout is the perfect combination of organic and gourmet cooking with American-style fast food. They prepare their own salsas, dressings, mayonnaise's and breads using local ingredients straight from producers. Their seafood comes from fishermen who are committed to sustainable practices and only use 100% organic chicken. Sprout serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, also with a cafe & bar on site. Located just a few steps from the beach, on the main strip in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

The Red Door in Tamarindo is a top recommendation for those seeking a restaurant with a nightlife vibe. It offers incredible food, great service, and a beachy atmosphere that's both low-key and fun. The restaurant features a tropical garden ambiance and serves an array of delicious dishes including fresh tacos, gourmet burgers, and juicy steaks. Guests can enjoy unique drink specials throughout the week and live music every other night, as well as sunset DJ sessions and Friday jazz nights.
The atmosphere was just like the pictures. Really nice and intimate. Perfect for a birthday celebration or anniversary. The drinks were good as advertised. But the food however, was BOMB!!! The ribs fell right of the bone and the sauce was a great compliment. The snapper was nice and FRESH!! I wish I could’ve went back and got the ribs again lol but definitely a 10/10 experience

MAGICAL SETTING, GOOD FOOD This restaurant is at the north end of Tamarindo & set in an enchanted garden lit by lanterns surrounded by a lush forest. We got there at 5:45 pm so were able to watch the beautiful sunset. We loved the cocktails and the food: we can recommend the Caribbean Chicken & the Curry. The lava cake was delicious but the fried cake had a mysterious creamy texture. The server was attentive but may have been new as he seemed a bit confused. A word of caution: if you wear scented products at dinner time you will be a magnet for mosquitoes.

We came for our birthday last night and had a wonderful experience. The live music was beautiful and our waitress was phenomenal. I have a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating. The live musician sang happy birthday and so did our waitress and gave us a complimentary dairy free churro plate. They made it very special, the food and drinks were delicious, and the restaurant was beautiful.

I went here for a quick dinner with my friends. After doing some researching, we found that this is one of the more touristy places in Costa Rica. So we looked over the menu and decided that we would order a platter that would feed up to 5 people. Although it was only three of us it was. It made the most sense. The platter came with a salad, a side of rice, side of potatoes, salad, mixed vegetables and four different proteins. In my opinion, everything on the platter was good except for the filet mignon and the other beef. The platter also had a side of halibut which to me was overcooked. It had the texture of chicken which I didn't like. It was very chewy. The service was very good and I wish was a very nice. She gave us recommendations and suggestions for drinks on the menu. She was really nice. Aesthetically the restaurant is very nice. I can imagine what it would be at night. But it before you go there, I would recommend bringing some mosquito spray with you.

My wife and I came here for the first time not knowing what to expect, and we were completely blown away by the food, the flavors, and the hospitality—it’s no exaggeration. Miss Elizabeth was our server, and she was timely, attentive, and incredibly pleasant. Thank you, Elizabeth, for making our first visit such a wonderful experience. If I could give this place six stars instead of five, I would. While dining outside, we even spotted some monkeys in the trees and a lizard nearby, which made the experience even more unique. Just a heads-up: the flies can be a bit relentless outdoors.

Huge thank you to The Red Door team for showing us so much love—even as we arrived right before closing! We were on a mission to get content for our travel blog SheGrownAndGone, and y’all understood the assignment. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and matched our energy perfectly. Now let’s talk food—that calamari was fresh and crispy, and the pasta? Rich, flavorful, and comforting in all the right ways. Everything about the night felt like a beautiful little reset. We'll absolutely be back!

Our favorite meal we had in Tamarindo!! Incredible service, lovely waiter. Would recommend the mussels and curry dish, and the skirt steak… all was amazing though! It was a slow night there but the cocktails and food were amazing. For real go there if you’re looking for a good dinner!!!

40th anniversary dinner at sunset on the beach. Angelo was an attentive host and steered us to tuna tartare, mahi mahi and ribeye steaks. The food was the best we had on the coast (and in the top quartile of a lifetime). Best choice of this trip by far. Highly recommend. Added bonus we enjoyed watching a young couple begin their journey at their wedding rehearsal dinner. Magnífico!
