An incredible green oasis in the heart of Mexico City! Bosque de Chapultepec is truly one of the most beautiful and impressive urban parks in the world. It’s not just a park — it’s a vast cultural, historical, and natural treasure that captures the essence of Mexico City. The location is unbeatable, right in the center of the city, offering a peaceful escape from the busy streets while surrounding you with art, history, and nature. You can spend an entire day here and still discover something new. The park is home to iconic museums like the Museo Nacional de Antropología, Museo de Arte Moderno, and Castillo de Chapultepec, each offering incredible insights into Mexico’s past and creativity. There are also beautiful walking paths, lakes with boats, food stands, and areas perfect for picnics or quiet relaxation under the trees. The atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant — families, joggers, artists, and tourists all sharing the same space. It’s safe, clean, and very well maintained. The staff and vendors are friendly, adding to the charm of the experience. Whether you come for culture, exercise, or simple tranquility, Bosque de Chapultepec is a must-visit — the true green heart of CDMX.
Arturo Y — Google review
Beautiful park, very well-kept, and the grounds are amazing. Everything is so green, and as a single female, I felt safe. There is so much to see and do in this park, with museums, monuments, and small animals & birds. I could walk around for hours just soaking up nature, and I didn't even see half of it. If you really want to experience the park, I suggest you take a whole day. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes for a lot of walking, a hat, sunscreen, water, and mosquito repellent. Entrace into the park is free, but museums charge. It is easy to get to, as there are 3 metro stations that you can use to get to the park. If you get hungry, there are many vendors selling snacks and trinkets. There are clean bathrooms too, at only 5 pesos entry, but make sure you bring 5 peso coins as change is not available. The infrastructure of this park is amazing, well done to CDMX.
Carina S — Google review
It’s impossible to capture everything Chapultepec Park has to offer — it’s that big! Easily one of the best places in Mexico City to recharge, move your body, and soak up some nature right in the middle of the city. You can do it all here: run under the shade of giant trees, ride a bike, have a picnic with friends, lie in the grass, watch squirrels, and listen to birds. For kids, it’s a dream — playgrounds, museums, space to run and play safely. Half of the park is a dog-lover’s paradise, while the other half is more peaceful and perfect for relaxing. It’s not just a park — it’s a whole world you’ll want to come back to again and again.
Lidia Z — Google review
The park is beautiful and peaceful when you get away from the stalls where there are more people. There are lots of stops on the ring road (we cycled the park) and it's easy to spend a few hours exploring and chilling.
Avril H — Google review
Bustling market with locals calling out their wares. Nice wide walkways so it doesn’t feel to claustrophobic when busy. Mostly the same types of things sold; food / snacks (even crickets!) and frescas as well as some touristy souvenirs. As there’s a lot of duplication it makes for a very competitive and atmospheric walk through.
Kelly S — Google review
The best park in all of Mexico. so huge!!! .You probably need a whole day to explore it. There's a free zoo and so many things to do with children. Make sure you buy the monkey hat! Bring your own food for a picnic near the carousel or visit the Castillo! Great place to visit with the whole family! Even has a lake you can rent a boat and paddle all day long

Perched on a hill in Chapultepec Park, Mexico City, Chapultepec Castle is a historic site that offers stunning views of the city. This neoclassical and colonial architectural gem now serves as the National Museum of History. Since 1939, it has housed an impressive collection of relics including Aztec sculptures, casta paintings, and even President Santa Anna's fake leg.
Definitely worth the stop! We planned to be there for an hour, it wasn’t enough. Amazing views Of the city, so much history, and a perfect photo spot. Expect to climb the road up to the castle, it’s a good hike that’s filling paved. We went right when it opened on a Tuesday and didn’t have any crowds. We bought tickets at the entrance without a problem.
Alissa W — Google review
Wonderful museum that provides lots of history of Mexico. The walk up the hill to the castle is a little long, so just be sure to wear some comfortable shoes to make the trek. There’s also some great views of the city from the castle.
Melissa M — Google review
Chapultepec Castle has panoramic views of the city, combines rich history, elegant architecture, and beautiful gardens. Inside, you’ll find opulent rooms and fascinating exhibits that bring Mexico’s past to life. A must-visit for both history lovers and casual travelers alike.
Vince H — Google review
This is a stunning walk through a historical building filled with beautiful artwork from a few different eras . The castle itself has a few different exhibits and the living areas of the place are staged and have explanations in Spanish and English about the use of each of space. Views from the top of the castle looking down the hill are incredible and worth the hike up.
H L — Google review
Visiting Chapultepec Castle was a truly enjoyable experience. The entrance process was smooth and well-organized, making it easy to get in without long waits or confusion. Once inside, the beauty of the castle really stood out — from the elegant staircases to the detailed paintings and historic accessories that decorate the rooms. What made the visit even more pleasant was that it wasn’t overly crowded, allowing for a relaxed and unhurried exploration of the space. One of the highlights was stepping out onto the terraces — the panoramic views of Mexico City from up there are absolutely breathtaking and not to be missed. Overall, Chapultepec Castle offers a great mix of history, art, and scenic views. A must-visit for anyone spending time in Mexico City.

I'm a big fan of the park surrounding the castle but found the castle itself beautiful but rigid. I had my full frame camera with me when I purchased the ticket at the ground level entrance. After walking up the hill, the xop checking tickets asked if I could remove my lens from my camera? There was a 0% chance that was happening and if this is an actual rule it should be displayed when you purchase the ticket. Everything else was without incident.
Dominick — Google review
Just beautiful! Such a lovely surprise in the middle of the hustle that is CDMX . A must visit if you are a history fan especially if you love Maximilian I & Charlotte of Mexico. Also you get a very lovely view of the city. Ps. There is a booth to get tix if you’re paying with card or apple pay, no need to get in that long line.

Very cool castle and museum. Packed with history and art. I mean some of the art in this place is the best I've seen. The attention to detail and the amount of fancy stuff here is wild. Super cheap place to spend half the day. No food places up top, but you won't need it. The murals and story of the use of the castle is well done. If you get a chance, check out the funny wall of portraits, you'll know what I mean. Lol 😆. Great place but hears a tip they didn't tell me. On a sunny day, the checkered balcony where everyone wants to take pics; unnaturally bright from the reflective floor. So bring sunglasses just for the floor. Also, most of the gift shop stuff looked like you could save some money by just buying it elsewhere in the city. Anyways, very cool castle. Didn't see any grasshoppers though.

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a grand marble performance hall and museum in Mexico City, known for its iconic orange dome and elaborate belle epoque facade. Built in 1904 by Italian architect Adamo Boari, the structure features pre-Hispanic motifs and a mix of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Inside, visitors can admire murals by Diego Rivera and other renowned artists.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Mexico City! The architecture is stunning from the outside, and inside you’ll find incredible murals and cultural exhibitions. The plaza in front is lively with people, music, and street performers, making it a fun place to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. A must-visit spot for photos, art, and history.
Imran H — Google review
The Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of Mexico City’s most stunning landmarks. Its architecture is truly breathtaking, blending Art Nouveau on the outside with Art Deco details inside. The grand halls and expansive spaces give it an atmosphere of elegance and cultural importance. Beyond the building itself, it’s also a hub for the arts, hosting concerts, operas, and exhibitions. Another plus: its central location puts you within walking distance of other must-see attractions like Alameda Central park, Torre Latinoamericana, and the historic Centro. It’s a perfect starting point for exploring the heart of the city.
Vince H — Google review
A beautiful palace full of interesting art. It was free during my visit which is a nice gesture. The exhibits were cool, I won't pretend to be so interested in art. The property itself is a work of art and a great place for photographers to take some shots. Highly recommended!
Dominick — Google review
An incredibly beautiful building with gorgeous interior architecture - but a bit of a let down when so many of the galleries were closed when we went. Only one of the Diego Rivera murals was available for viewing because something was going on (restoration? Ceiling work?) so that was a big disappointment. Also, none of the descriptions on the walls were available in English so we didn’t get much from the single exhibit we could walk through.
Kelsey K — Google review
One of the iconic CDMX landmarks. Very impressive building and the way its lit up after dark makes it even more remarkabke. Amazing art inside and got to experience a very authetic spanish music show in the evening. A must see when visiting Mexico City
John S — Google review
Can I say something that hasn’t been said already? It’s a great place, I’m happy that I got to experience this breathtaking setting for Mozart’s final masterpiece. Would recommend everyone to go there to a concert. Wherever you seat will be great. Words of appreciation to the Palacio staff, who were very kind to me.
Michał D — Google review
I walked in without knowing much about the history and solely depended upon the Google reviews. This was a huge mistake. I didn’t even know it has gallery rooms. It is one of those places where the reviews can be way off the mark. So I recommend reading something about this place and its events beforehand since there are no English speaking guides (unless you hire one) or plaques available. For some incorrect reviews, there are 5 pieces of Diego Rivera’s murals. Other than the destroyed Rockefeller Center reproduction, four murals of “Carnaval de la Vida Mexicana” series are here. It is not well known but you should not miss them if you are a fan. And other murals are magnificent as well. On the way up to the third floor, they drove us through the Lilia Carrillo show. I was initially vexed but it turned out as a great opportunity to see her paintings although I had no knowledge about her life and artworks. One thing that really bothered me was there were Spanish speaking guides explaining two murals. The one who guides the “Man, the Controller of the Universe” stays in front of it too long giving the audience an “unwarranted one hour lecture” while asking them foolish questions. I couldn’t get close to see the details thanks to that. I hope they shorten the time. It is a great place to visit for sure.

A beautiful building on the outside and amazing talent and creativity on the inside. We came here for Ballet Folklorico and it was one of the highlights of our CDMX vacation. Thank you for an incredible and memorable night.

Taco restaurant
Salón Corona, a renowned cerveceria, established its flagship cantina in 1928, just three years after the launch of Corona beer. It remains a popular spot for locals and workers in the area. With multiple locations in Centro and one in Zona Rosa, it's known for its friendly atmosphere and delicious food. The menu features items like tortas with pulpo or pierna alongside giant mugs of beer.
Despite the slow service and chaotic atmosphere, you should go at least once for the excellent classic mexican taco dishes. The tacos are a bit on the pricey side compared to the competition, but they are well worth the money.
Dr. K — Google review
The place is nice, the staff are kind. The service is not very attentive. But The food is bad unfortunately. The soup was salty The trota de milanesa was hard and dry. The taco de bistec was hard and chewy. The pint of beer I asked was not available, the replacement beer was good.
Ehsan P — Google review
Very nice place ! The service is quick and really helpful, the food is good with a decent price. Menu is quite big so you have a lot of choice. We had Torta and Sharing tacos and we loved it ! The quesadillas was the best ! Definitely worth the stop here.
MORGANE D — Google review
The tacos are just amazing!!! Muy delicioso, full of flavors....this place is heavily frequented by the locals ( so you know the food is good) the prices are pretty reasonable for a spot that's right in the middle of the historical center and a bunch of touristic attractions. They also have a wide selections of craft beer on Tap ( if that's your thing.... The people in there were raving about them) ...i usually eat tacos from the street vendors but i definitely found a new go to spot for lunch of just a quick bite when im around El Centro histórico. CHECK IT OUT... trust me!

Visited here for waiting for my connection flight. The food was so good. And the workers were very nice. The music was also good. Those combination make you feel amazing. Hope you don't miss it.
Hayoung S — Google review
This place is phenomenal the prices are great and the food is on point had a synchronized a couple pastor tacos and a torta of pierna omada everything was very flavorful. the only thing in my opinion are the pastor tacos could use a little bit more seasoning or touch up the meat as they cut it off the trompo.
Naz E — Google review
I went around noon and the place was almost empty, didnt take long for people to start trickling in though. I had the chilaquiles in salsa verde. They come with a side of refried beans and I asked for a bolillo. I've had them several times and chilaquiles here are a hit n miss. At times the salsa is mild and others a bit too hot. Overall the place is a classic visit if you are downtown. Try the tacos Al pastor and have a nice cold beer(they have it on tap). Come alone or with friends, the experience is always good. They accept cash and card payment. Enjoy.

Hugo

Wine bar
Hugo is a wine bar located in Mexico City, specifically on Avenida Veracruz 38 in the Roma Norte neighborhood. The bar offers a selection of natural and low-intervention wines, as well as creative bites inspired by French and New York bistros. The ambiance is described as straightforward, with outdoor tables available for patrons to enjoy their drinks and food.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hugo in Mexico City provided an unforgettable dining experience! I went with six great friends, and we chose to sit outside, which was absolutely perfect. The ambiance, lighting, and weather all came together to create a magical atmosphere. We shared a variety of appetizers as a table, and every single dish was exceptional—beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely welcome. It was an amazing night filled with fantastic food, great company, and a setting that was both elegant and relaxed. I highly recommend Hugo for anyone looking for a standout dining experience in Mexico City. Can’t wait to return!

Wine Bar Huge nails the balance between playful and refined. The gnocchi Parisienne was the standout, pillowy and rich with the perfect crisp. The tartare was fresh and well-seasoned, a great way to start the meal. The vibe is sexy and cute with dim lighting and just the right energy for a date night. Service was solid and attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is thoughtful with plenty of fun options by the glass. It’s the kind of place you want to linger. A perfect pick for a romantic evening in CDMX
Dan S — Google review
This is a solid wine bar/restaurant but could be better. A bit on the pricey side Wide selection of bottles- most above 50USD and closer to 100, so expect to pay $$. It’s a busy place so without a reservation you’ll have to wait, which I did. After I gave them my twinkle smile I was worried they may ask me to leave but I was seated at one of the worst tables. Carpaccio, olives, pan, their version of schnitzel - was good, especially the schnitzel, add a bottle of wine, the total was 3300 pesos. SO PRICEY. The food was smaller portion size except the schnitzel. Other than being pricey. They only had one size of wine glass, which was disappointing. (I did ask for additional glass of red wine, and they poured it in which appeared to be a baby size wine glass. Their payback, I guess) For being a wine bar, have AT LEAST two glass sizes. A white and a red. It’s a successful restaurant, so they should spend a little money on stemware. Is that asking too much…maybe. I also asked them to decant the wine, which they (he) didn’t want to do and really didn’t quite understand why I wanted to do it. All-in-all, I will go back bit try to sit in the bar area where there is a better vibe which I can bring down. Next to the coffee/ espresso machine wasn’t a highlight. A few decent pics below. That’s all for now.

We went to Hugo based on friend’s recommendation and we weren’t disappointed 🫶🏼 everything is very smooth, a big staff, very kind and transparent (in a way that it doesn’t felt heavy ;), the cocktails are very tasty and the food!! The food 🩷 you have to try the raddichios salad (my personal favorite) and the gnocchis! Delicioso. Next time in Mexico I’ll come back for sure !
Isabelle D — Google review
It's a cute wine bar with a few dishes perfect to share! We tried the bread with salted olive oil, the olives, and tuna kimchi; of these three, the tuna was amazing! It was super fresh and flavorful. The chicken was good. And the fried pumpkin flowers were tasty, yet a little salty and greasy. They have a large selection of wine, so make sure to get a good one! We didn’t have a reservation and still got a table. I didn’t like the attitude about not having a reservation and giving people a “reserved” table for one hour. When we got there, there were plenty of empty tables, and still, they told us most were booked, and we could use one for an hour. We stayed there longer than an hour, and some tables were still empty, so that whole attitude was unnecessary. I had also checked the open table to see when I could get a reservation, and there were spots every 15 minutes for the next hour, so again, the whole “you can use this table for an hour” is beyond unnecessary—other than that, the place is cute and with good wines.
Yenderson J — Google review
Best chicken ever!! Seems boring but that chicken was really great. Also took the crab salad what was more mayonnaise then expected. The kampachi crudo was fresh and delicious. Try the baswue cheesecake which is more savory and light than the NY style cheesecake. 👌🏻
Gabrielle C — Google review
Great food. Service needs improvement … they didn’t clean the table between food, changed my waiter mid service, 2nd waitress gave me a bad look when I told her let me finish my first glass of wine before you pour the second. Had to re-ask for the bread. Weird vibes the whole time after that with the 2nd waitress. I stilled tipped because it’s part of my culture.

Brunch restaurant
Lardo is a trendy Mexican-European fusion restaurant located in the historic Edificios Condesa. Chef Elena Reygadas offers a menu designed for sharing, with options like croque monsieur sandwiches and creative pizzas. The restaurant features a large bar and an open kitchen, creating a lively atmosphere. For breakfast, Lardo serves various egg dishes, including the starry egg wrapped in holy leaf and poached egg with salmon.
Had a great experience at Laredo — so good we ended up going back the following day. For brunch, the pastries were excellent and the chilaquiles were full of flavor with just the right amount of spice. The fried artichoke was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. Later in the day, we came back for the caramelized onion and chili pizza, which was a clear highlight — sweet, spicy, and super tasty. Service was friendly and consistent both times. Would definitely come back.

We tried their lunch menu and it was good. Compare to their prices I won’t give them 5 start but definitely a 4 star. The food tasted good, not much special. Their bread is the same as their pizza crust and it is the best part of their food. The service was okay, we just had to wait way longer than they told us. Overall, it was a good experience.

TLDR; very lovely cafe to spend a relaxed afternoon, but the food is a hit or miss depending on what you get. We came here twice for breakfast and once for a late lunch - overall, their breakfast menu stayed with me more than their lunch. The concha is really nice, the pasty empanadas are flaky and creamy as the same time, their guava pastry is one of the best I’ve had in the city. Their tomato salad is super fresh tasting too.

This restaurant was so delicious and the vibe was great. This place can fill up pretty quickly for dinner time during the weekend, and while we didn’t have a reservation, the hostess squeezed us in to take in on the experience. The ceviche was very good, and our pizzas were incredible. We didn’t expect them to be that small, but we’re so glad that we didn’t have huge portions because it ended up being perfect. I added burrata cheese to my margherita pizza and that was the best decision that I made because it was so tasty. Not to mention the dessert which was probably my favorite part of the whole experience (I kept taking from my friends portions because of how good it was lol).

The food is very delicious. I love the pumpkin flower and the salad with blue cheese. The salad goes very well with the bread. The crab roll is ok.

One of my favorite spots in the city! It’s always lively and usually busy, but definitely worth the wait. The food and drinks are great, the atmosphere is amazing, and the service is consistently good—plus, some of the staff speak English. Highly recommend!

Loncheria María Isabel

Mexican restaurant
Loncheria María Isabel, established in 1967, is a charming spot in the upscale Polanco neighborhood. The quesadillas are a must-try, made by folding raw corn tortillas and filling them with options like cheese and chicharron before frying. The menu offers traditional dishes such as potato and cheese quesadillas served with sour cream and homemade green salsa. English translations are available upon request for non-Spanish speakers.
Small place specialized in quesadillas. These quesadillas are deepfried and unless it says it on the menu they do not contain cheese. They were very good and you have to eat them with the cream and sauce on top. The sauce is spicy. I ordered beans and cheese, potato and chorizo, and mushroom and cheese. All good but would recomend the mushroom and cheese one as the best.
Adrià M — Google review
Skip, not worth it. Gave me old school cafeteria vibes. However the chairs were not that comfortable and service was okay. Not sure why it got high reviews. Anyway, I thought the quesadillas were okay, but small portions. A quesadilla had rajas and the other calabas, but I was unable to taste the difference. The cheese overwhelmed the other flavors. I was still hungry so I ordered a sope with chorizo, which was okay. However I thought it was too thin and prefer the masa not fried. The agua de Jamaica was also watered down. Overall, I paid about 200mxp and thought it was overpriced for the quality of food. Removing this place from my CDMX list and suggest you keep it moving.
Chicano L — Google review
This was so good. Only reason I put four stars for service is because I asked what drinks they have and he said only coke and water when later I noticed people having agua frescas. Good was so good and salsa is delicious. I got 5 quesadillas, a flauta, coke, and agua Fresca.
Jessica J — Google review
Very limited menu and everything served very plainly. Salsas weren't great. Not only was the food average they then tried to overcharge us, maybe because we were obviously gringos. Many better options close by.
Chris R — Google review
María Isabel is sin on a plate. Delicious? Absolutely. But also the kind of place you reserve for moments when temptation overrules discipline...not your weekly brunch spot. The menu is rich, indulgent, and bursting with flavor. If fatty, hearty, golden-fried goodness doesn’t scare you, then by all means: feast. But if you’re even mildly health-conscious, treat this like a twice-a-year guilty pleasure. Service is quick, staff are warm and attentive, and the food comes out with impressive speed. So yes, you’ll be full (and possibly in a mild food coma) before you have time to second-guess your order.
Denisse G — Google review
TLDR: 3.5 stars for price and some items were very good I really loved the carne and the flor de calabasa con queso. The chorizo y potato was very bland and the sopes were just ok. The nopal had no flavor but the oaxacan cheese had a nice flavor to it. All in all, good local spot for the price but some hits and misses on the items
Wilson T — Google review
This was a recommendation from a friend, the quesadillas are pretty good but not delicious as we expected. We have tried in another places much better. This place needs a little bit to be update- renovate, totally understandable their old style but needs some work. Prices are average +

Lovely traditional food and friendly, helpful staff. Nice bit of authenticity in the Polanco hotel central. They did have a laminated menu with English translations if you ask. For foreigners if it’s your first time in Mexico, would recommend trying both the traditional drinks pictured. For vegans; I had the mushroom and potato quesadilla.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Reforma 222. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Catholic church
The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a significant Catholic church and pilgrimage site that has been attracting visitors since it opened in 1531. Located adjacent to the hill where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared, this complex of buildings includes the Old Basilica with its splendid altarpiece dedicated to Mary, as well as the modern and distinctive New Basilica built in 1976.
Stepping into the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is just an incredible experience, whether you're religious or not. It's truly a place that makes you feel a part of something massive. The sheer scale of the complex is the first thing that hits you. You've got the huge, modern basilica, which is this really unique, circular building designed so everyone can see the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe no matter where they sit. It's fascinating how they've built it to handle the millions of visitors it gets every year. Then there's the Old Basilica right next to it, which is beautiful in its own way, but you can see why they had to build the new one – the old one is visibly sinking! Walking between the two gives you such a strong sense of history and continuity. Even if you're not there for pilgrimage, just seeing the devotion of people, feeling the atmosphere, and taking in the sheer artistic and architectural ambition of the place is really moving. It's a peaceful, yet incredibly vibrant site. Definitely allow yourself enough time to explore the grounds, not just the main church. It's a powerful and memorable stop in Mexico City.

Just a great place to visit. If you are Catholic it's a must see. History, art work and of course La Virgen de Guadalupe. Just felt super special and blessed. The climb to the Church on top is not that easy. But slow and easy. Please enjoy the views.
Jose M — Google review
The Basilica of Guadalupe really moved me. The old and new churches stand side by side — one leaning slightly with age, the other bright and modern. Even if you’re not religious, it’s impossible not to feel something. So many people, yet so peaceful. Faith has its own quiet power.
Z C — Google review
Really nice experience to see the old churches and the new, side by side. You can also clearly see the sinking of the buildings due to the fact it is all laying on an old lake bed. Easy to get to with public transport so be adventurous.

A must visit We spent many hours praying, attending mass. For the first timers do plan for to spend at least 5 hours. There are many chapels in addition to the basilica. Museum dedicated to our lady has many artifacts and it’s only 10 pesos to enter. Pray, reflect and receive blessings from our Mother
Hiran C — Google review
The Basilica of Guadalupe was on our minds to visit as we were traveling through Mexico. We attended the mass but was in Spanish but was still an experience. The other churches are all in the same vicinity. Very peaceful, friendly people everywhere. The church on the top is not an easy walk but the church is beautiful and the view is amazing.

Excellent place to take your family to visit and share other religions. . . Very clean. Must have exact change to use the WC (bathrooms/toilets) 5 peso's. Bathrooms must take stairs to get to it. There are handicap bathrooms as well that have elevators.

Plaza Garibaldi is an iconic square in Mexico City known for its vibrant music scene and cultural offerings. The plaza is famous for its mariachis, who perform in traditional attire and are available to be hired for events or impromptu serenades. In addition to the lively music, visitors can explore a museum, browse through shops, and enjoy the hub of predominantly Jalisco cuisine and culture.
Nice vibe. We went around noon and the plaza was pretty empty and quiet. 1 mariachi song 🎵 was 150 Mex pesos. We got orange 🍊 jus fresh squeezed for 60 pesos it was so delicious you have to try it. Nice vibe

Nice place, was empty in August. Must be nice in high seasons. Mariachis were here
Love A — Google review
Love all of the food and mariachi bands. It’s a safe place to be out at night. Many families with kids and the people are friendly.
Hiep — Google review
Lively and a fun place to visit, dance, and listen to Mariachi music. You can get a Mariachi band to serrate a song for about 15 US dollars. The plaza is located in a rough neighborhood, but there are a lot of police present. So, the place itself feels safe. There are lots of food vendors and restaurants. Highly recommend taking an Uber or taxi to an from the Plaza.

I loved it,the fact that you can go bar hopping is great, however the drinks a expensive, but there are a ton of mariachis all over the place....there is a bar called El tenampa, whuchbis very popular but extremely expensive. I would not recommend it, nothing special about it.
Hugo J — Google review
We walked, drank and ate at the Tenampa. Plaza Garibaldi was a great time.
Juan G — Google review
Not worth the visit unless you go to a specific cantina like Tenampa. Smells like urine and homeless use the streets as toilets even when the police is near by. Has potential for improvement as a cultural area.
Laura V — Google review
I went there there during the week, it starts to get livelier later in the night. It is fun to sit and listen to Mariachi music while having a few drinks. I walked there since it was a 20 minute walk from my hotel, however I do recommend taking a car back late at night because the surrounding area can be a little sketchy at night time, particularly if you’re alone.

Alameda Central is the oldest public park in Mexico City, established by Viceroy Luís Velasco. It has undergone a significant makeover in recent years, but still retains its historic charm. The park features beautiful trees, fountains, and sculptures and is surrounded by hotels, bars, and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy delicious street food from vendors around the park and experience a lively atmosphere with street performers and art installations at night.
A beautiful park that feels larger than it is. The amount of people coming and going through this area should make it feel crowded and overused, but it doesn’t. Even at the height of the day it is a pleasant place to walk, site see, and grab a bite to eat.

I made it a point to sit at Parque de la Alameda during this visit to CDMX. Wanted to relax and read a book. This place is full of life, people, food and a welcoming atmosphere that's makes you stop to just breathe. My reading didn't happen because locals connected with me and I had long, interesting conversations while putting my book away. Years since I sat on a bench and just watched people . What a wonderful experience . You can enjoy vendors and food, books, crafts etc. But this time around I blended in with the locals from a well placed park bench. Will be back for more💖💖💖🙌

A peaceful and historic oasis in the heart of Mexico City! Alameda Central is one of the most beautiful and historic parks in CDMX, and visiting it is an essential part of experiencing the city’s charm. Located right next to the magnificent Palacio de Bellas Artes, this park offers the perfect mix of nature, art, and daily city life. It’s a place where locals and visitors come together to relax, walk, and enjoy the open air surrounded by fountains, sculptures, and tree-lined paths. The atmosphere is lively yet calm — you’ll see families, street performers, musicians, and vendors adding to its vibrant spirit. Everything is well-maintained, clean, and safe, with plenty of benches and shaded areas to rest. The view of Bellas Artes from the park is simply stunning, especially at sunset when the light reflects off the building’s dome. What makes Alameda Central truly special is its blend of history and community. Established in the 16th century, it’s the oldest public park in the Americas, yet it still feels full of life and energy. Whether you’re exploring the nearby museums, enjoying a snack, or just people-watching, Alameda Central is a must-visit — peaceful, beautiful, and deeply connected to the heart of Mexico City.

Designed by renowned architect Teodoro Gonzalez de Leon, this four-story glass-covered mall offers a wide range of stores and restaurants to cater to every budget. From budget-friendly options like Bershka to high-end brands like Mac Cosmetics and Zara, there's something for everyone.
Pretty big mall with plenty of stores to shop. Food court has many options (McDonald’s, Tacos, KFC, BK, etc). I opted to eat at Crepes & Waffles and everything was made to order/fresh & delicious. Also, Pull & Bear had the cutest clothes.
Tdt 1 — Google review
It’s a small shopping mall right in the heart of La Reforma, just 10-min away from El Angel. It has the most popular clothing stores such as Zara and Mango, but very few food options; the food court has literally 6-8 restaurants like McDonald’s, Crepes and Waffles, a Mexican place and two Asian places.
Erika A — Google review
I thought we had to travel to Polanco for a nice mall, but I discovered Reforma has its own mall and it might be even nicer with cooler stores. Spacious, clean, safe and a fodo court full of fast food from the US for when I miss home a bit.
Dominick — Google review
This mall has most of the famous brand stores that you can shopping around, from supplements to outfits, the prices here are not cheap either, but your choice. The food counter serves burgers, sandwiches and Asian food. The reason I’m given 4 stars because the restrooms are short, you may waiting in line for half hour to getting in the restroom

The menu features small plates with a focus on experimenting with fermenting and pickling, as well as amazing fried chicken. The cocktail selection is highly praised, offering perfectly balanced drinks that cater to different preferences. The qr code and menu situation was difficult to load. The drinks list was a bit all over the place, with some wines being offered by the glass but not on the menu. The server was nice and tried hard to smooth the experience, but it all felt a bit awkward to me. The food was a solid 4/5. Cocktails were decent, although I'd have preferred my martini in a proper glass. Overall with a bit of refinement, this place would earn a higher mark from me. It doesn't have to lose it's quirky edge or the music, just smoothen the experience.
Alex B — Google review
Sat at the lovely, cozy, and inviting bar after ramen from Kaminari. We only ordered cocktails here. It's my new favorite bar. Every single drink was great! Perfectly balanced. I prefer drier, bitter, boozy, and medicinal drinks. My date is the opposite (but not TOO sweet!). We both thoroughly enjoyed each pour without exception. That's incredibly rare. Avoid the hyped up places. I've been to a couple bars from the "Best in the World Top 10" list... And they pale in comparison. Our bartender was lovely, friendly, and attentive. She never missed a beat. My liver would be toast if more bars were like this, I'd almost never be sober!

Bellinghausen is a fine dining restaurant with international cuisine that has been open in Toronto for over 100 years. The intimate atmosphere and courtyard setting make it a favorite lunch spot, while the steak, seafood, and Central European dishes make it a go-to for dinner as well.
Bellinghausen Londres in Zona Rosa was a complete surprise. It’s one of those old-school places that flies under the radar. Excellent service, great food, good cocktails and wine list and a nice patio complete with bird cages. My only complaint is that they allow smoking outside and a few inconsiderate diners were chain smoking and a fat cat was smoking a cigar. The grilled artichoke appetizer was fabulous. Filet mignon and Lechón entrees were both excellent and substantial. If the fig tart is on the desert menu, order it. A special occasion restaurant indeed.

Taqueria el Caifan is a laid-back restaurant in Mexico City, conveniently located near Avenida de la Reforma and Alameda Central. It's known for its classic Mexican dishes, including tacos, quesadillas, and carnitas. The aroma of al pastor on the rotisserie lures you inside, where you can enjoy flavorful tacos topped with sweet pineapple and a variety of salsas to choose from.
Had dinner here and loved everything we tried. Ambience and service is very good too. We tried their flavored beers and liked it. Out of all the things we ate, I liked the Pambazo the best.
Kapil S — Google review
Their tacos are good and different from what we are used to, the large portions were too much and we couldn't finish all! The service is also good.
Maria G — Google review
The service was slow. The tacos no go. Loud from a busy street corner. The "carne asada" was not what we expected. It was not bad, but nothing to rave about. The condiments were stacked away from one's table, and messy. Same spoon was being used for all the condiments. No separate salsa was offered. No one in our large party got ill, but we wouldn't go back again.

Ordered 3 tacos and got food poisoning the next 2 days. Ruined my vacation. Then the server automatically charged us 20% tip without asking and we were a group of 2. I’m not understanding how this place has high reviews. Tacos weren’t good. The salsa bar didn’t have enough condiments (missing onions and cilantro etc) and we got food poisoning.

Shockingly good tacos. You wouldn’t guess it was anything special from the outside but it blew us away. Milanese and steak tacos were both excellent. Food is prepared in an open kitchen. Tortillas appear freshly made. Would eat here if in the area

Classic Mexican restaurant at the right spot. Welcoming staff and service. Tacos and quesadillas were okay but quantity was little. Also, add ons were too cold, if they were warm it would have been tastier. Had mushroom soup too which was soothing. Roasted onions were tasty. Only downside is not many vegetarian options.

Café De Tacuba is a century-old establishment in Mexico City, renowned for its spicy house mole recipe, ornate decor, and live mariachi band. The café has been in business since 1912 and is still run by the same family. Its beautiful space features Talavera tiles and Colonial-style paintings and furniture.
Went for breakfast twice during a short trip. Tried the tamales, huge, and amazingly flavor. Tried the Chilaquiles rojo de pollo. Also great. Don’t pass up the hot chocolate!
Dan A — Google review
🌟 Historic Charm with Warm Service What an experience! Café de Tacuba is a stunning spot — originally a 17th-century hospital, it was transformed into a restaurant in 1912 and has preserved much of its colonial beauty. The architecture is absolutely beautiful, and the 17th-century paintings throughout the space add so much character and charm. The service was excellent — fast, attentive, and very friendly. Our server made us feel truly welcome. While the food was just okay, the atmosphere more than made up for it. It’s definitely worth a visit for the history and ambiance alone. One note: the live music was delayed and mostly centered around a birthday celebration at the back, which was a bit distracting. Also, it’s a popular place, so a reservation is highly recommended. Overall, a memorable experience and a unique slice of Mexico City’s heritage!
Mahdi I — Google review
A modest entrance hides a classically beautiful interior. The staff are all polite and efficient, providing excellent service throughout. The food is traditional and on the pricier side, expect to spend around 400 pesos per person. The decor features religious symbols and paintings that add to the unique atmosphere. It’s a popular spot, so it can get a bit noisy, but overall, it's a charming and enjoyable experience.
Nils V — Google review
I mean it is a decent place. The decor is stunning. We came as soon as it opened and it was not crowded. However, 2/3 orders were wrong or they forgot something with the order, the waiter kind of wandered off and we had to ask other staff to get her attention or bring us things. The hot chocolate was amazing tho.

Weird experience in the city center. Gorgeous historical interior, live musicians and all the tables occupied. Looks like you going to some delicious journey. Have kids menu. But then they bringing to you the food tastes like from a cheap factory canteen. not just neutral, but not tasty. the presentation of the dishes is the same - carelessly thrown splashes on the plate. The cafe survives on the location and the old atmosphere, obviously. I do not recommend visiting, except for the experience of understanding how good it is in other (any) places in Mexico City. We ate some of the dishes with difficulty. The children refused to eat at all. After that, stuff asked to leave a tip, looking at the table full of untouched dishes. Price by the way like from real good cafe or restaurants, not cheap at all.

We had had a DAY as the city was basically in a full fledged gridlock because of protests and demonstrations. We were frustrated, wet and starving. We came into Cafe de Tecuba and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our server only spoke Spanish - which I speak a little and attempted to order for us - when I wasn’t sure what she was asking I began to type it into google translate to help. She grabbed fellow server who spoke English and quickly and happily helped us. They both checked on us multiple times during the meal ensuring that we were happy and had what we needed. We ordered the poblano chicken and the chilaquiles- both were so good and came out quickly. It was such a nice end to a rather frustrating day.

The prices are high: more than USA high, the omelette pictured here was right at $20, which included a not-so-good coffee, and a side of very tired lettuce and tomato. The thing that I found intriguing was that most of the 150+ people jammed across 2 floors seemed to be locals, who seemingly were ordering from the same elevated menu. BUT, even though it's pricey and the food is mediocre-at-best; the service is great, the overall experience is cool, and the building is stunning. The band that roams around, which is part of the experience, is great. Pro-tip: There will be a line and a wait when you arrive. Request 2nd-floor seating, even if you have to wait significantly longer.

Café de Tacuba is not just a coffeehouse; it is a bridge between the past and the present. Not only is the food amazingly satisfying, but it also has a calming touch, enhanced by the interior decoration. It is worth mentioning that the ingredients used to prepare the food are carefully selected. Visiting this sensational café is more than just an experience.

For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like The Angel of Independence. The Angel of Independence, also known as El Angel, is a significant monument in Mexico City that commemorates the country's independence. It features a towering Corinthian column topped with a statue of the goddess of victory, Nike, holding a laurel wreath above the figure of independence hero Miguel Hidalgo. The monument stands at the center of a large roundabout near Paseo de la Reforma and symbolizes Mexico's triumph over Spain.
Worth the trip but it's not a huge undertaking. You can go and spend between 5-15 minutes walking around the roundabout taking pictures or grab a coffee or drink and enjoy the area. Be mindful, it's incredibly busy so be careful with children and pets.
Amy N — Google review
Such a beautiful spot to take photos. I love taking photos of the Angel of Independence at night but I recommend taking photos of this spot during sunset or sunrise! It was not dangerous for me when I took photos very late at night but always make sure you are careful.

The Ángel de la Independencia is one of Mexico City’s most iconic landmarks, symbolizing freedom and national pride. Located on Paseo de la Reforma, its golden winged statue and grand architecture are truly breathtaking. The monument beautifully honors Mexico’s independence heroes with elegance and detail. It’s especially stunning at sunset or when illuminated at night. A must-visit spot that captures the soul and history of Mexico City.

Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, move over… El Angel De La Independencia is CDMX iconic, accessible and oh, so beautiful! No tickets needed, no wait in line. Just drive along Paseo de la reforma and stop for a photo opportunity

An iconic landmark in Mexico City! The Angel of Independence is impressive to see up close, both during the day and beautifully lit at night. It’s a great spot for photos and to appreciate one of the city’s most emblematic monuments.

Enjoyed a lot my night walk to the Angel. This emblem of Mexican pride glows magnificently along Paseo de la Reforma. Illuminated by city lights, it creates a stunning contrast with the skyline and draws both locals and visitors to enjoy Mexico City’s vibrant evening atmosphere.

Monument to the Revolution

Monument
The Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City is a famous landmark dedicated to the Mexican Revolution. Completed in the 1930s, this 67-meter-high monument houses a mausoleum with the remains of key figures from the revolution. It features an observation deck that can be reached by a glass elevator, offering panoramic views of the city from a height of 65 meters.
I recommend doing the guided tour (Spanish only)! I learned so much from the guide. Very professional & knowledgeable. The views are beautiful - especially as the sun is setting. Be aware that there are LOTS and LOTS of stairs if you do the guided tour (which is free BTW!). The guide takes you to spots that are not open to those who DON’T do the tour, but it consists of many steep stairs. However, it was worth it. You can also get a discount if you’re a teacher or student! Lovely staff.
Daysi P — Google review
This monumento is truly nice and worth to visit. The general tickets cost 150 and students 130 pesos. The lift is so nice, you can see nice views from each side. It's the best to go to the top and you have to walk all way down by stairs so í don't recommend people with restricted walking and abilities to do it. Also pretty narrow, not sure about claustrophobic individuals. Anyway, there is nice cafeteria at the top, honestly worth to visit.
Jana M — Google review
I've been to the museum previously and I really liked it. I highly recommend climbing to the top, the view is amazing and the dome is absolutely gorgeous. The gift shop is pretty cool too! Great for non cliche souvenir shopping :)
Natalia G — Google review
It was a great experience. We took our time going through the monument since it has a lot of stairs. At night it was extra nice since it had the green, white and red lights. From very top you can view the centro. I would go again if I get the chance.
Paty M — Google review
Nice views from the top and a lot of history is included as you walk through the structure. What was not mentioned is that you take an elevator to the top but then you are expected to walk down narrow stairs to get out of the building and we just said "No way Jose; we're taking the elevator" and we rode back down. I've looked at the monument for years and it is worth going to see.
Mario C — Google review
A MUST SEE in Mexico City!!! Tremendous views after you ascend in the elevator. Small cafes for coffee and cold drinks in the upper viewing areas. Staff is wonderful! Access to the Museum on the ground floor requires separate tickets. Mexican senior citizen residents with INAPAM cards receive entrance discounts.
Bill D — Google review
They where super pushy about us taking the photos. Funny to me that they are pushy with the ones who speak spanish but not with the foreigners. I really didn't enjoy that. Be prepared to go up stairs for about 5 minutes .. but it's worth it !! They give you a bracelet and as you pass the phases they cross him off on the bracelet. One person has the bracelet for the hole party.
Unicorn J — Google review
Such a beautiful building in the middle of Mexico City. There's even any elevator you can take to the top. Next time I visit, I will make sure to leave enough time.

Nestled in the heart of Mexico City, Mercado de Artesanías La Ciudadela is a vibrant artisan market that has become a beloved destination for both locals and travelers. This bustling marketplace showcases an impressive array of traditional handicrafts and folk art from across the country.
Loved this market. Many of the booths repeat the same items but there are so many incredible treasures in between. Lots of bargains, souvenirs, traditional items, beautiful one of a kind hand made items, and then the usual stuff you will find everywhere. There is a spot to eat that always has a table, any entrances to get into and lots of alleyways and aisles...easy to get lost in a sea of goodness. Don't miss out on this one.
Sandy B — Google review
I wanted to buy a table cover. The 1st stall quoted me more than P15k Mexican pesos when converted was more than $800. The second stall quoted even higher. And the third, the same! I was shocked! I stopped looking even for other items. If you want to buy Mexican handicrafts, the ones sold by the pyramids are a lot cheaper. Disappointing experience!
Nisi A — Google review
Fantastic Artisan market where you can see the diversity, colours and beauty of Mexican craftsmanship. I love it all! There are more real stuff than tourist junk. Sellers are very friendly, patient and kind. No harassing...

This Mercado is usually not on the MUST VISIT list for CDMX, but this was one of our favorite places. Expect to spend two hours walking around shopping for crafty artwork, instruments, pottery, kitchenware, toys, tote bags, clothes, jewelry, decorations, religious gifts, traditional Mexican souvenirs, etc. all made my artists who sell the items themselves. Highly recommend visiting. Bring lots of cash! You’re going to want to make lots of purchases
Esther L — Google review
My favorite market in CDMX! A lot of crafts and unique pieces - the prices really depend on the vendor! Great variety and there is a delicious restaurant in the middle! Life feels calm and quiet inside! You can sound hours there walking and talking to the sellers.
Kristine S — Google review
They have so many things. Souvenirs, kitchenware, purses, totes, shoes, clothes and much more. The variety is great. I recommend walking through at least a quarter of the market before buying anything if you wanna save up since some places sell the same products with different pricing.
Laura J — Google review
Great place to visit, el mercado has many Mexican artesanal stores, you can take a find many items for house decor, cloths, pottery, souvenirs, Art… is very relaxing to walk the hallways and just appreciate everything. If you get hungry they have a nice small restaurant and if you just need a break visit Ocelotl, an artesanal coffee shop to try their unique coffee or chocolate and with Mezcal ! I visit every time I visit Mexico, never get tired!
Lucy G — Google review
This was a great place to buy souvenirs. There's a lot of little shops all in one place. Several shops sell similar if not the same items, but it's worth doing one loop to check out all the shops and ask for prices on items you're interested in, before buying anything, because you'll find that other shops may have what you're looking for but better quality or better priced. The aisles are numbered so you can make a mental note of where your favorite stores are if you want to go back. The sellers were not too pushy, and were very helpful in guiding us to other shops, even if they sold very similar items to what they sell, just different sizes/quality/colors/patterns etc. that we were looking for. We bought blankets, a wool poncho, some cute pins, candies, a luchador mask for my nephew, and a key holder. I would definitely go back.

History Museums
Templo Mayor Museum is a captivating showcase of archaeological discoveries and exhibits related to the Aztec civilization. The museum is built on the ruins of the sacred axis of the Aztec empire, which were accidentally unearthed in 1978. It features a vast archaeological site with twin shrines dedicated to sun and rain gods, where rituals involving sacrificial victims took place.
It will never stop amazing you while you walk around the old ruins. You have to visit to comprehend what I am talking about. This time I visit with my son. And he couldn't stop reading the descriptions and looking around the site. The museum was very interesting for him. After all these years and new scavations and expansion of the museum. I know that all the buildings around hide underneath so much about the old Mexico Tenochtitlan. This is a Michelin kind of Museum, you have to drive or fly to come visit from wherever you are.
MIGUEL C — Google review
The museum is interesting and historically important, with some impressive ruins and artifacts that give you a real sense of Mexico’s ancient past. However, the layout feels a bit confusing, and the explanations are mostly in Spanish with very limited English support, which makes it harder for international visitors to fully appreciate the exhibits. It’s worth a visit if you’re already in the area, but it doesn’t feel very visitor-friendly for tourists who don’t speak Spanish. Overall, fascinating history but the experience could be improved.
Arash — Google review
An incredible museum right in the heart of Mexico City. A very popular area! We enjoyed seeing the artifacts that have been recovered here and the story of the site expanding with each new ruler. The big stone story on the site of the wall is incredible too!
Nicky J — Google review
We visited this museum without a guide and still found it very interesting and informative. There is signage in both English and Spanish. But some of the signage is in Spanish only. The museum was larger than I had expected and had great artifacts in it. It is amazing that this site is in the middle of such a large city.
Kate M — Google review
Nice visit, you can see it without going to the museum, but it is fun to walk in between the ruins. Everything is explained in spanish and english. I thought it was just the short outside walk, but there is an indoor museum at the end and it is huge, 8 rooms, with a lot of information on different themes. For 100mxn, this is really worth it.
SB — Google review
After you enter the there is a outdoor walkway though the grounds. The indoor museum is full of artifacts that were discovered and a history of the religion. The indoor museum was much bigger than anticipated, very enjoyable.
Alex L — Google review
A must-see gem hidden in plain sight at the heart of CDMX! While strolling around the Zócalo, we stumbled upon the Templo Mayor and were amazed by how accessible it was. You can literally walk right up to centuries of history. The site is beautifully preserved, and the museum is incredibly well-curated, offering a deep dive into Aztec civilization with powerful visuals, artifacts, and explanations. The entry fee was very reasonable considering the experience, and the location couldn’t be more convenient. You get both an outdoor archeological site and a full indoor museum, all within steps of the Cathedral and main square. Whether you're a history buff or just casually exploring, this is one of those places that quietly leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Mexico City!

La Casa de las Sirenas is a sophisticated restaurant and bar located in a historic building, offering traditional and contemporary Mexican dishes as well as an extensive selection of mezcals and tequilas. The venue features a rooftop terrace with stunning views of Mexico City, making it one of the best rooftop restaurants in the area. The building's facade showcases a unique frieze with mermaids, giving the restaurant its name.
I’ve been to most of the upscale/fine dining restaurants in Centro Historico and Las Sirenas is by far my absolute favorite! I honestly didn’t expect much given the super average experiences I’ve had at previous overrated restaurants in the area but I was so surprised! Everything was amazing including the food, drinks, service, view, ambiance, etc. We went on a rainy night and had an impeccable view of the cathedral without many people on the patio. The portions were unexpectedly big and the Mole Negro sauce along with the bean tamale were just incredible! I’m no stranger to well made mole or tamales, so I was once again quite surprised.

I had dinner and then drinks and appetizers two different nights when I was recently in Mexico City. The atmosphere is gorgeous and they played lovely music making the ambience perfect for dinner. However the food is just ok- nothing to write home about. We tried the mole with pumpkin seeds, the batter fried steak and the shrimp with lemon and butter. First of all we ordered an appetizer and it did not come out before the main dishes. We had to ask the manager where our food was and then he brought out the appetizers and two of the main dishes and we waited for the third dish. So if you are looking for a place with beautiful atmosphere and slow service this is the place. Or better yet a place to have drinks and appetizers would be nice. With all of the amazing restaurants in Mexico City, I would choose a different place to spend your money on for dinner. I did like the beet and goat cheese salad so I can recommend that.

The guacamole with chicharrón is delicious too. The camarones ajillo was delicious too. OMG, the corn tortillas are made for each table and they are served warm- those are so good too! I ordered the special chicken with cheese tacos. It was good but not fantastic ones. The place is fine for a quick bite.. Being not a local, it's good for one time.. Probably the other beef n stuffs could be good and popular. Chicken I would say average.

Great taco place in Mexico City. They are a no frills place, quick service and authentic tasting tacos of all varieties. They give you a grilled cheese taco that is just grilled cheese and the taste is so good, give this place a go, try the rib tacos, so tasty 😋

I ordered 6 tacos plate. It was pork with cheese. The pork taste was good with cooked brown bits for yummy crunchy flavor. A few gristly pieces but nothing I couldn’t deal with. The corn tortillas and 3 salsa choices and bowl of limes on the side made each bite a customizable taste.

This place is good place for late dinner. Usually is the only place that is open after 10pm. Taco orders is base on 4 or 6 tacos. Tried carne tacos (4) but it wasn't enough for a regular person. So a little bit expensive for what you get if you compare with surrounding restaurants with similar menu. Men ws are located upstairs, women's downstairs. Fast service and atmosphere no quiet enough and tables are too separate to talk with your partner. But still i would return.

About a 2 min walk from Angel / Reforma... Exceptionally good tacos. Had pork- El pastor. Delicious. Cheap and tasty. They accept Credit Card too. RECOMMEND

Traditional taco menu with lots of choices. Very reasonable prices. Their seasoned beans make for a great soup to start with. Quesadillas are small corn tortillas with a chunk of melting cheese inside, served with red taco sauce, salsa verde and pico de gallo. Guacamole is very mild with chunky onion, generous portion, served with warm corn tortillas instead of totopos. Lovely outdoor tables when the weather is nice! Cash only.

If you're on a culinary adventure in Mexico City, make sure to stop by Taquería El Califa, a celebrated taco haven that has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike since its establishment in 2009. Known for its mouthwatering tacos al pastor, this taqueria serves up spit-roasted pork marinated with spices and chili peppers, all wrapped in warm tortillas.
Really enjoyed my tacos here in the heart of Mexico City. They had an immense variety of menu items. I was able to get delicious salad wrap tacos, but also had a piece of my wives gringa which was also tasty. Waitstaff was bilingual and very attentive. I appreciate that they had menus available both in Spanish and English and I could get my favorite Soda Dr. Pepper.

Probably one of the worst tacos I've had in my life. And I'm from NY so I should know cause according to people we don't know ish about tacos. But I have had way better tacos from my Mexican brothers and sisters out here in NY. First off the host was super rude. Second, one of my tacos was the wrong order. So I ended up with 3 steak tacos instead of 2 steak and 1 chicken. So can only base this off the cow tacos I got. First time trying non chopped meat in a taco which is a thing nowadays. Which hey, some call it innovation, I call it lazy. Wouldn't complain much if the meat was actually good. But no. The highlight of this dish was the salsas they put out on the table. Definitely skip this chain and go to a legit taco spot

Masala y Maíz

Restaurant
Masala y Maíz is a trendy restaurant with an industrial-chic atmosphere that offers traditional dishes infused with Indian and African influences. Located in Colonia Juarez, it is owned by chef duo Norma Listman and Saqib Keval. The menu features a fusion of Mexican, Indian, and East African flavors, such as tetela with duck confit and mole, esquites made with coconut milk and served with chile mayo, and freshly baked doughnuts for dessert.
We had the pleasure of dining here on our 22nd wedding anniversary with some great friends while on vacation. Everything about Masala y Maiz was excellent. Here’s what we loved: - understated yet elevated atmosphere - a drink menu that isn’t overwhelming and where every drink was wonderfully crafted - food dishes that were bold in their flavor palette yet balanced with no single spice overwhelming another - attentive staff that exuded a passion for the food and a sense of humor and joy while they worked. - dishes are all served family style - 7 unique dishes fed our group of 5 (should have ordered more before the kitchen closed). - we ordered: 2 of the shrimp dishes which was a table favorite, the fish ceviche, ancho chile relleno (my fave), watermelon salad, roasted carrots, the whole chicken, and the crab stew. - restrooms were a master class in green granite work - really unique! - the chocolate dessert was mind-blowingly amazing. The panna cotta and tres leches cake were very good as well but, boy, that chocolate dessert…yum! What we would change if we could: - we would have ordered more dishes (ceviche, chile relleno and shrimp) mid-way through our meal. We didn’t realize our 5:30 pm reservation was one of the latest available and the kitchen was closing by about 6:45.

The food was amazing here. The whole experience was amazing. The interior of the restaurant is unique and the service was very good. Our server told us the history of the menu and the restaurant and deeply explained every dish. All the dishes were presented beautifully and the flavors were awesome. I was impressed by every dish especially the chocolate tamale and the chicken. We loved the coasters so much that we asked for clean ones to take home. You must go here if in Mexico City.

We had the most incredible experience at Masala y Maíz! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The cocktails and wine pairings were on point, and we went with the chef’s omakase-style experience, which was easily one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Every single dish blew us away — from the comforting boiled corn with rasam, to the absolutely unforgettable camarones with vanilla & ghee, and the fun, interactive DIY fish tacos. Each bite felt both inventive and perfectly balanced. It’s definitely tough to get a reservation, but 100% worth the effort. A little tip: don’t eat before or after — you’ll want every bit of space for this meal. An absolute must-try if you can snag a table!
Suyog M — Google review
Great place to grab lunch! The service was amazing, our server was very good at explaining all of the dishes that we were curious about. The ceviche and samosas were stellar and I also enjoyed the soft shelled crab. My biggest complaint would be that the sheer number of diners made it a little hard to hear.

Interesting Indian–Mexican fusion concept but the flavors didn’t quite work. The spiced peanuts were the best part, while most dishes were overly seasoned. Service was friendly and they help you choose dishes, and the price (≈1750 MXN for two) is fair for a Michelin-star place. Creative but not delicious.

While Masala & Maíz is well known for its creative culinary concept, the overall experience was truly disappointing. The service from most of the staff — except for the manager and the barman — was unpleasant and unprofessional. The host, in particular, was far from welcoming and set a negative tone from the start. The atmosphere felt awkward and lacked both style and taste. There’s no harmony between the design of the place, the music, and the type of food — it all feels confusing and disjointed. Some dishes were indeed interesting and well executed, but many others were so strange that they simply didn’t taste good. At times, it almost felt as if the chef was mocking us — for example, serving peanuts with their shells soaked in liquid and asking us to “suck on the shell.” To make matters worse, the wine list is outrageously overpriced, with prices that are completely unjustifiable. In conclusion, Masala & Maíz was a bad and expensive experience. I wouldn’t recommend it or return. There are many other restaurants in Mexico that offer much better food, service, and value for money.

The dinner was actually perfect. It was so great. Only room for growth was the dessert. We loved the cocktails and the meal. Appreciated the option to have the restaurant send us dishes without having to choose from the menu. Service was absolutely phenomenal!

This was an awesome Experience, the food was great: presentation & taste! The creations are very unique! I didn’t give 5 stars for service because the wine we wanted to try was not availabe… nevertheless our server suggested an alternative that turned out to be really good! This is the type of places that make CDMX a great destination!

Centro Santa Fe, located in the western part of Mexico City, is the largest shopping center in Latin America. This massive complex spans 400,000 square meters and houses over 300 shops, including international brands, mid-luxury stores, and popular department stores like Sears and Liverpool. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of dining options, entertainment facilities such as 22-screen movie theaters and play areas for children.
This mall is huge and has a fantastic variety of stores. If you need to do some serious shopping this is a great spot to do it all in CDMX. Plan to spend the day to shop, eat, and see a movie!

Want to go shopping? This is the place, 3 levels of shops, from everyday to high end fashion. Want to take a break and eat, they got you covered with all types of cuisine. How about strapping on some ice skates and go skating, or take in the IMAX theater 🎥. The bottom line is this mall has tons to do and tons of shops to window shop or purchase the goods. Definitely worth stopping by in Mexico City. New and modern.

Galerias Insurgentes is a vibrant shopping mall with colorful tiled floors and a glass roof, offering a variety of stores to cater to everyone's needs. While smaller than its counterpart Perisur, it still provides an excellent shopping experience. From Build-a-Bear Workshop for the kids to Bari Swimwear for beachgoers, the mall has something for everyone. Additionally, there are plenty of cafes where shoppers can take a break and recharge.
I wanted to go to Chula store and they had a really good one.

Flea & Street Markets
Coyoacan Market is a lively 2-story marketplace that has been operating since 1921. It offers a wide variety of goods, including food, apparel, art, and souvenirs. The market is known for its colorful stalls selling items such as avocados, novelty chocolate skulls, and toasted grasshoppers. Visitors can also enjoy fresh seafood and meat specialties at the tostada stalls in the center of the market.
Mercado Coyoacán is one of those places where you can spend hours without realizing how much time has passed. The food selection alone is worth the visit—rows of stalls offering everything from freshly cut pork and chicharrón to classic Mexican dishes that feel both comforting and celebratory. You’ll find tacos, tamales, fresh juices, seafood, and plenty of regional specialties, all cooked right in front of you with an energy that fills the market. It’s the kind of spot where you can come hungry and still feel like you only scratched the surface. Beyond the food, the stalls are a fascinating mix of Mexico City life. Handmade leather goods sit alongside vendors selling colorful crafts, home items, and even knockoff clothing that’s surprisingly stylish. Mixed in are truly original Mexican products you won’t find in tourist shops—things that carry the charm and authenticity of local makers. The market itself has a lived-in, bustling character that makes browsing as fun as eating. Its location near the Frida Kahlo Museum makes it a natural stop, whether you’re heading there before or after your visit. Mercado Coyoacán offers the perfect mix of food, shopping, and local culture. For anyone visiting Coyoacán, this is a five-star stop.
Paul M — Google review
This is a mid-sized market with a variety of stalls ranging from fruit to tacos to souvenirs. It is not the most extensive in CDMX nor the best but it is in a great location. If you are a tourist and not looking to buy fresh produce you can grab some delicious tacos or take a walk around. Don't go out of your way to visit this market but if you are close it is worth a stop.
Amy N — Google review
No visit to Coyoacan is complete without going to this Mercado. They have many choices in raw food vendors, but also the numerous prepared food spots makes it a great place to eat as well. Trinidad Ritual de Sabores is my absolute favorite. The best and most tender meats and also vegetarian options around.
T.L. C — Google review
Loved the vibrant atmosphere of this market! So much fresh, colourful food everywhere. We had an amazing - and super affordable - breakfast at one of the small stalls. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. Beyond that, you’ll find tons of local spices, produce, and little handcrafted treasures. Definitely worth a visit!
Jennifer R — Google review
I came here on Saturday around 10am. Seems most stores are still opening around that time. Lots of cute little trinkets, breakfast foods, clothes but a bit on the pricier side. I was staying by Roma Sur and would say food over there is much better than this market. Definitely agree with other reviews, if you’re in the area, definitely visit.
Mei Y — Google review
Absolutely loved exploring the Coyoacán market. We had been on the search for tacos and this spot filled our needs. The guys preparing the tacos even offered us crickets 🦗 🫣 to try. My friend did - I did NOT. Fun experience in this market.

Tostadas Coyoacan in CDMX is a popular spot known for its delicious and reasonably priced tostadas. Located in the heart of the Coyoacan Mercado, this casual market stand offers a wide variety of toppings including seafood, meat, mole, and veggies. The tostadas are served cold, so don't be surprised if your order isn't steaming hot.
First time visiting CDMX and this was one of the places recommended to us from a few friends as well as through researching places to visit. I'm sold! The food here was awesome, fresh and tasty and for $280 pesos we got 4 tostadas and 2 drinks. You can't go wrong with that price. Service was quick and helpful with everything also posted in English making it easier to order.
Ian D — Google review
This place has fantastic tostadas. There is something for everyone, from meat to seafood to vegetarian options. Although they were quite busy, the service was still fast and efficient. Just find the person in charge of getting you seated, then you wrote how many of each tostada you want on the provided slip, and enjoy!
David H — Google review
Place seams bit chaotic and unorganized but this is a false impression. You be served your food quickly and efficiently. It will be fresh and delicious and you be craving more. They have great selection of hot sauces.

Overhyped, But Not a Total Miss Visiting CDMX for the first time, this spot came highly recommended featured in several YouTube vlogs — so naturally, expectations were high. The food wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. There’s clearly a lot of buzz around this place, and while I can see the appeal for some, it didn’t feel like a must-try to me. It’s the kind of restaurant I’d keep on a “nice-to-have” list rather than one I’d rush back to or recommend as a top pick for first-timers. If you’re nearby and curious, it’s worth checking out — just don’t expect it to blow you away.
Sachin S — Google review
This place came highly recommended, so the wife and I decided to check it out during our trip. The food was excellent and there's a variety of agua frescas to choose from. I got the carnitas, which were a tad dry, but still absolutely delicious. If you're visiting CDMX, definitely stop by the market and give this place a try.
Alex F — Google review
This was my husband’s favorite restaurant that we ate at during our week long vacation! He loved the salpicon tostadas the best. The tinga and al pastor were great as well! The have many aguas to choose from - the melon and guayaba were what we chose, and we enjoyed them. It was very busy when we went on a saturday afternoon. They have several seats, but it is a very tight space when sitting. It did not look to be able to accommodate wheelchairs, as the seating is bar style, but i may be wrong. It was quite warm inside as well.
Kayla H — Google review
It was ok. Fun vibe but I ordered pork and got chicken. The chicken was not that good sadly.
Andrea A — Google review
This tostada place is great. it has both a mixture of seafood and meats available. The pulpo was my favorite and my friends loved the cochinita pibil one. The especial de camaron was also a favorite. The staff was trying to get us to sit at a table before getting orders which wasn't obvious til a customer helped us with what was going on. You mark your orders on a list and then you get the food. The fruit drinks are very good and fresh. It is a very busy place so be prepared to wait or hawk an open spot. This is probably one of the better places to eat at the coyocan market and the biggest place in the market.

Seafood restaurant
Mi Compa Chava is a popular seafood spot in Mexico, known for its creative takes on Sinaloa and Baja seafood. The restaurant attracts both locals and tourists, who line up to savor the fresh and succulent seafood dishes. The artful aguachiles and selections from the cold bar are among the crowd favorites. The place also boasts an invitation-only atelier, reflecting a deep respect for craftsmanship.
So far the best seafood place in CDMX, if you like shrimp 🦐 they have something called “Camarones Zarandeados” I never tried something like that in my whole life, it’s a game changer plate, I had to visit 2 times this place just for that plate, rich and tasty, Also Taco Botete, it’s a big tempura taco with great taste, if you like ceviche try the “Chocomil” I’m not a super fan but this one it’s on soacial not boring. The prices are normal and the taste is extremely good and fresh, your stomach it’s gonna be safe! Please order “Horchata Water” it’s made with rice and ask for a candy at the entrance if you’re leaving the restaurant.

We were worried about not being able to get a table, but we came around 1pm with a party of 3 and were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, but we had a bit of a misunderstanding because we ended up getting an order of 6 oysters that we never asked for. I understand that since we didn’t speak very good Spanish, part of the responsibility falls on us to clarify our order. Since we never brought up oysters in the first place, it felt a little predatory that the server mentioned oysters to us and we consequently ordered them unintentionally. By the time they arrived to the table it felt wrong to refuse them. It was a bit unfortunate since they also weren’t very good oysters, and they were very pricy. Despite that avoidable issue, all the other food we had was good. We got the tuna tostada, the aguachiles, and the seafood tower. If you’re planning on going to Contramar, I would say the Tuna Tostada there is better. The aguachiles on the other hand I enjoyed very much and would suggest getting those. The seafood tower was also fun for its novelty, though I don’t think I loved the sauce they put on it. To end it, we got the passionfruit ice cream, which was nice and refreshing. I also very much enjoyed the horchata here, so I would recommend getting that to drink!
Justin T — Google review
A must visit! We stood in line a little before opening, and the line continued behind us. It moves fast though, and we were seated pretty quickly. The service here is a 10/10. They are quick, attentive, and friendly. The shrimp was so surprisingly juicy and flavorful… I wish I could experience eating it for the first time again. Everything honestly was so, so good and fresh! But the shrimp was my favorite.
Jenny K — Google review
My favorite place I ate in CDMX. This place is genuinely amazing! Everything we ate was 5-stars and tastes so fresh. We got the agua chiles, chocolate clams, grilled prawns, and a seafood tower. Star of the show was definitely the chocolate clam. Staff is super friendly and helpful with any questions, despite it being super busy. The vibe of this place is so fun as well, with live music playing too. They sell their own hotsauce which I had to pick up.
Melinda M — Google review
Seriously one of my favorite meals that I had in CDMX! It’s not far from the Frida Kahlo house which is very convenient. I made a reservation but when we got there there was plenty of seating around 2pm which I don’t think is the case for other more popular locations of this restaurant. The menu is pretty big and overwhelming but we ended up getting some raw seafood and a whole fish slathered on chipotle sauce which was amazing. The raw ceviche tower was okay, lacking some flavor. The lemon margaritas and micheladas with shrimp were really good as well. Overall what I loved most was the extremely attentive staff and the vibe of the place. I love how open the restaurant is and you can see the employees cooking and prepping seafood. Great experience and can’t wait to go back on my next trip:

A bit of a wait but worth it! Food on point, customer service great, a bit packed and busy when we went but the food made up for that. I definitely recommend when in this cute little town! 👍👍
Susana H — Google review
This place is worth the hype! The quality and flavor of the food was absolutely delicious. The servers work incredible hard and are on point. The aguachile verde and pescado frito stole the show. We will definitely be back here and will recommend our friends.
Fiona B — Google review
Incredible food - good reason for the big queues. I came on my own though so got a seat at the bar straight away. I got the Aguachile verde and it was one of the freshest things I’ve ever tasted. Also had the tuna tostada which was 10/10. Super lively and friendly. On the more expensive side but worth it.

Breakfast restaurant
Mexican restaurant
Fonda Margarita is a no-frills cafe in Mexico City, known for its Mexican home-style food like beans and eggs. It was a favorite breakfast spot of Anthony Bourdain. The humble 'fonda' attracts locals with sweet old men singing classic Mexican tunes while they enjoy dishes like chilaquiles, omelettes with black beans, beef in chile pasilla gravy, and other daily specials.
I don’t think I will ever have another Mexican meal that even comes close to this. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. The pork verde was definitely the highlight for me - tender succulent pieces of pork soaked in the most flavorful well-balanced verde sauce. Do yourself a favor and put this in your list of things to do on your visit to CDMX!
Anirudh J — Google review
Antony Bourdain said it first, probably one of the best places to take breakfast in the world and I agree. Such a interesting place where you share table with whole community like old friends. I have tried the chilaquiles with a huevito and the cerdo en salsa verde my wife ordered was epic
Lord F — Google review
Nothing but perfected local vibes and food. Bourdain crushed it on reviewing perfectly. The staff were so kind and the band too. We were the only foreigners in there and people were amazing. The green salsa and bean omlette thing was straight up, magical. Small is enough I think for a semi hungry person. Must go!

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine—especially breakfast—this is the place. Be prepared to arrive early and expect a wait, particularly on weekends. We waited about 40 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant offers communal-style seating with a cozy, intimate atmosphere. As for the food—bursting with flavor and simply delicious. We tried a variety of dishes, and every single one was excellent. Overall, I would happily dine here again and highly recommend it. Sorry there aren't any pics. Enjoy!
Kori C — Google review
Go early! You won’t regret it. This place cooks fresh dishes over mesquite every morning starting at 3 am. Restaurant opens at 6:30 am. if you have not seen Anthony Bourdain’s episode on this place watch it. Family owned and run for 50 years. Don’t expect anything culinarily different. This is home cooked food that is traditionally correct and amazingly prepared. That is why the line is out the door by 8 am and they sell out by 10 am. Most customers are mostly locals who want to remember their mothers or grandmothers cooking or get rid of their hangover. Please if you want a traditional Mexico breakfast. Try this place out and tell them Jeremy sent you.

A Magical Place , with magical food! And so many Stories , They have been for almost 78 years , every artist of the Mexican Movies Golden Era were there "Curamdose la Cruda " ( Healing their hang over) or for a very late ( 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning ) or early day. Start with a completo o medio, according to your appetite, this is huevo con frijoles / refried eggs scrambled to perfection with eggs, it comes with salsa de jitomate y serrano salsa and tortillas edge lightly burnt . Then choose one of the Guisados , food cooked in a giant clay pot, all of them are going to be great, do not miss anything with salsa verde. The place has only one size fits everybody tables, and there is always a line to get a place. Do not go after 10 am, since the place will be open but not all the food . This is a must,
M L — Google review
Authentic Mexican experience right here! Communal seating sat me right next to the loveliest couple that shared must-see recommendations of the City. A little uncomfy if you’re seated next to someone with broad shoulders and likes to gesture broadly. Live music and kind service. Best chilaquiles I’ve ever had! Photos don’t do the food justice. Add a Mexican Coke and have a great experience.
Amy D — Google review
We visited Fonda Margarita on a Thursday morning and arrived around 10:45 AM. Be prepared for a bit of a wait—we waited about 45 minutes for a table—but it’s worth it. The place is clean and has a charming, no-frills vibe. The food here is truly something special. We were a bit disappointed that “Carnero en Verde” wasn’t available, but I opted for the chilaquiles with costilla instead. The sauce wasn’t your typical chilaquiles style—it was incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, and not acidic at all. The frijoles refritos were absolutely delicious too, a perfect complement to the meal. At the end of our meal, we had the chance to chat with Ms. Margarita’s granddaughter, which added a lovely personal touch to the experience. Fonda Margarita is a fantastic spot for traditional Mexican breakfast, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic flavors.
