Gardens
The Cosmovitral Jardin Botanico is a remarkable botanical garden located in Plaza Garibay, featuring an array of native and exotic plant species. Originally built as a market in 1909, this building now houses 3500 sq meters of lovely gardens lit by 48 stained-glass panels designed by Tolucan artist Leopoldo Flores with the assistance of 60 artisans.
I have never seen a garden like this before! This Historic building dates back to the early 1900s and the stained glass is about 45 years old. It is a wonderful mix of art and nature making for a most enjoyable visit!

Awesome botanical garden. Biggest stained glass I have ever seen. Very clean inside. There is also a pond with koy fish. Cash only and they don’t take bigger denomination bills. They don’t have change to give you.

Amazing! Highly recommend. We receive a great tour and expectation of all the different stores behind each strain glass. The ground and beautiful. There are lots of opportunities for some amazing photos.

It was amazing to go to Cosmovitral (botanical garden). The garden has different parts like tropical, desert, japanese. With the colorful windows you can take amazing pictures. The 25 pesos were worth it. We went there in the late afternoon (after 4pm). We could go in directly, inside they were around 20-30 other people. The botanical garden closes at 6pm.

Feria del alfeñique 2025 Had the chance to go all around Los portales as ir It wasn't so crowded. Loved the great variety of candies with different shapes and colors. The decorations around looked amazing, specially at night. Definitely a must-see in October. *Check the prices in different stalls, you're likely to find a more reasonable price in the next one.
Enrique M — Google review
Many stores and small business not the greatest shopping Center but if you just want to walk and see people go ahead. For distraction it's fine.

Opened in 1954, the Nemesio Díez Stadium is a football arena with a capacity of 27,000 seats that serves as the home ground for Deportivo Toluca FC. Constructed in an English style, this stadium boasts an aesthetically pleasing design and offers excellent views of the field from every seat. Ticket prices vary depending on the visiting team. While snacks within the stadium may be expensive, there are plenty of options to dine well before entering.
After the remodeling (2017) the stadium got amazingly beautiful. I watched a female game, 25 pesos for the ticket. Highly recommended. Keep supporting female soccer in Mexico!

La Botticella is a fantastic establishment with top-notch cuisine that is incredibly delectable. The individuals working there are incredibly amiable, creating a welcoming and warm environment. Its aesthetics are awe-inspiring, making it an appealing place to visit. While the prices may be slightly higher than average, the food itself makes up for it, providing a satisfactory experience. Moreover, the ambiance is utterly relaxing, allowing patrons to unwind and enjoy their meals comfortably.

Breakfast restaurant
Potzollcalli is a fantastic choice for exploring the delicious world of Mexican cuisine, especially their mouthwatering "antojitos." One must not overlook their specialty, pozole. However, it's worth noting that the restaurant falls short in terms of presentation and service. It's important to be aware that the establishment maintains a cold temperature to ensure proper airflow and prevent COVID-19. Nevertheless, Potzollcalli offers outstanding customer service and serves food of exceptional quality.

Restaurant
Bistro Mecha Centro Histórico is a casual eatery that serves diverse dishes from around the world in a relaxed setting, complemented by an outdoor courtyard. Their pizza featuring pepperoni and Italian sausage offered a mix of flavors, with the Serrano Ham and Pepperoni being delightful while the Italian sausage lacked taste. Nonetheless, overall, the pizza was fantastic with its thin and crispy crust.
It's totally romantic here! The soft lights and mellow music are amazing. It's so easy to chat, and the food's great too. Perfect for a date night 🌙 ✨️

It hurts me to give a 2 star... but I have to. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. We made reservations, and the place was not very busy, but it took 45 minutes after ordering to receive our soup. I ordered the tropical tuna steak... it was the best tasting tuna steak I've ever had. However, I could not eat it because it kept hurting my mouth so bad. They left guava seeds in the dish that were like little rocks and I could not eat it. When I asked them to bring it to the attention of the chef, as I could not eat any more and it chipped my tooth, they just told me that it wasn't supposed to be in there and did not offer anything else or a price reduction. So I paid full price and left still hungry. It was really unfortunate because the taste was excellent. Because of these reasons... I will not go back and I can't recommend this place. I understand mistakes can happen, but they should have offered to remake it or give me a price break as they took over half of it back to the kitchen. If you're planning on going, please allow for a lot of time also.

We walked from our hotel to Bistro Meche Restaurant on a rainy night. We were greeted by warm, welcoming staff and a beautifully decorated space. We were seated promptly and our server, Francisco, helped us with menu suggestions. He was very well informed and personable. A real bright spot in our evening! Even though the restaurant was busy, our drinks and food came out quickly. The drinks were excellent, our food was very good and the venue is really cool. If we’re in Toluca again, we would gladly come back to Bistro Meche!

3.5 stars good but not great. The Mahi Mahi was very overcooked, the Bistro Mecha pizza was fine, and the crab appetizer was fine as well. The ambiance is really nice, huge place and has a big courtyard, lots of top 40 American music. Day 2

East side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Galerías Metepec, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Patio Toluca. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Galerías Metepec

4.5
(41873)
Shopping mall
Galerías Metepec is a local mall that offers a variety of stores and continues to modernize its businesses. While it may feel somewhat outdated in terms of infrastructure and cleanliness, it remains a nice and accessible shopping center with features like an ice skating rink and a movie theater offering waiter service at your seat. Some visitors find it more convenient to navigate than Galerias Toluca, although others believe the latter has better stores.
It's so easy to walk, I think is better than galerías Toluca, but the stores are better there.
Edlin S — Google review
Going to the movies is unfairly expensive in Mexico, but Cinepolis takes it to another level with its over the top prices and awful service, insufficient personnel, closed box offices, faulty app service, and lines that you have to wait for over 20 minutes to get an overpriced bucket of way too salty popcorn, worst part is that it's always crowded. If you want to go to the movies, skip this one.
Angelica Z — Google review
Nice, accessible shopping center. Boasts a nice and quite busy ice skating rink. Enjoyed watching young girls try out their skills. Nice movie theater with waiter service at your seat for snacks and drinks. Good selection of shops
Jeff D — Google review
It's fine for a local mall, although no longer the best around Metepec. It has a variety of stores and continues to upgrade its businesses to a more modern, diverse-targeted style; however, it begins to feel old in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness, and just the overall attention of the public service inside the mall. It's usually overly crowded, but if that's not a deal breaker for you, then you'll enjoy the restaurants of wide-ranged budget, clothing stores, technology, cinema, and other trinkets you didn't know you wanted. The parking lot is accessible and not too pricy, but still not inexpensive. Finally, be on the lookout for scheduled events like mini concerts or different kinds of performances; although it might not be the best place for such events, they're still enjoyable with family.
Aimé — Google review

Enrique B — Google review
Beautiful mall
Isma G — Google review
There are several things you can do, amongst the ones I liked the most is the ice skating. I went there during sept. 15 festivities, I really liked the decoration. When I got in the elevator, I got to see many other things I immediately fell in love with. I also saw 'Texas Ribs' and I instantly wondered if they were similar to the ones they sell at 'Texas Road House', by the way, if you try them and know what I am talking about, let me know so I can get some and get to taste those delicious ribs again. Something else I really like is where the elevators are located, the one at Liverpool, which is mostly a structure made of glass, the way you calmly go either up or down and get to see the outside of the building: the parking lot makes a part of the view, but hey, there is never enough parking to stop you from looking at everything else at sight. Anyway, my review probably makes no sense and there is mothing better than experiencing things for yourself. So if my review really did not help at all, you should go see for yourself and enjoy. Sorry, I was too sleepy but I really wanted to share a couple of things I liked from the place.

Shopping mall
Town Square Metepec is a modern and stylish shopping mall located in Avenida Ignacio Comonfort. Opened in 2018, it has become a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. The mall features trendy retail shops, high-end stores like The North Face and Samsung Store, as well as a variety of dining options centered around a lagoon. Families can enjoy the outdoor play structures while others shop or grab coffee at the outdoor kiosks.
Great place to walk around, beautiful and clean. Lots of restaurants and a large variety of shops.

Ubaldo R — Google review
Town Square shopping mall is large place with a huge variety of shopping, food and play structures to meet everyone's needs. My family and I hung out for a bit, while others ran some errands. I grabbed some coffee at Dolce Esperienza outdoor kiosk, churros at El Morro churroeria, while the kids had a great time on the play structures; including the 2 story slide! Plus, there are higher end stores to browse around like, The North Face, Samsung Store, Macstore, Massimo Dutti. Also, if you're looking for a night out this seems to be a good place for live music on Friday and Saturday at some of the inside bars. I think I'll definitely drop by again before heading home.
Rus M — Google review
The service is terrible. Your order doesn't not arrive as required and in time. Missing items, one person gets food the other does not. Once the main food arrived it was already cold. To my understanding they have quite a number of stuff but completely disorganized. Different staff members have different responsibilities and no one knows who is providing what. Overall place is very nice and tidy, toilets are clean. However, unnecessary loud volume of television is annoying.
Basit — Google review
Great shopping mall, to bad that some stores had to close due to the pandemic, but that’s in all malls. The fact it is outdoors gives this mall its unique atmosphere. Also for the kids nice facilities

Patio Toluca

Shopping mall
Patio Toluca is a standard shopping plaza located in Toluca, offering a supermarket, various retailers, and a movie theater. The mall boasts a wide variety of stores including clothing shops, a gym, banks, and more. Visitors can explore well-known fashion outlets such as Promoda and Capa de Ozono. The spacious parking area includes an underground floor to keep cars cool during the day.
One supermarket with plenty of things to get other than food. A theater, restaurants, 2 electronic stores and many other stores. It's clean.
Beck V — Google review
That's a different mall, with a considerable amount of stores. Parking is spacious, and it has an underground floor to keep the car cool during the day. The food court doesn't offer much. Our favorite store is Joi, where items are $25 or less. It offers many, many interesting articles quite cool, most of the time. Right outside of Joi, there is a Chinese food restaurant, that is alright. A movie theater, Soriana, Elektra, Coppel and Parisina are also there

Cantonese restaurant
The dining experience at Restaurant Bar Ya Yen S.A. de C.V., a Cantonese restaurant, was enjoyable. The food was delicious and I accompanied long-standing patrons. However, the service felt slightly hasty despite the establishment being only half occupied.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! They've been serving up amazing, authentic Cantonese food for over 47 years. Everything on the menu is fresh and handmade, and you can really taste the difference. It's kinda crazy that a restaurant this good is located so far off the beaten path, but that just adds to its charm. If you happen to be traveling to Valle de Bravo or just driving by Toluca, then you should give it a go!
Vital B — Google review
Prices are average. Serviceable waiters but not willing to make some adjustments to the dishes, like change pork for chicken or shrimp in equivalent meals. Quality of dishes is lower than last time I visited. Maybe to cope with rising costs. My 'rice with shrimp' was so poor in shrimp, that I could probably gather the small shrimp pieces and form maybe 4 to 6 small shrimp. Complimentary 'jasmine tea' was so watered down that felt like warm water only with a hint of jasmine. The atmosphere is gloomy, no music, same rug from the 80s full of food stains. The bathroom is clean and everything works. The Chinese food from any fast food court at the mall will probably satisfy you more.
Ernesto G — Google review
Food was good. We went with long time customers. The service felt a little rushed even that the restaurant was only half full.

Overpriced place, the meat was half fat and the rest was ok, but they charged a lot for a small piece of meat and a lot of fat. I accepted the waiter recommendation nevertheless was not worthy. For side dish they charged 4 dollars for 5 slices of tomato WTH?! I ordered desert (strudel) it was like soft apple surrounded by dry bread, bad bad quality guys. Overrated place, never coming back.
Jean B — Google review
My favorite steakhouse in Toluca. Unfortunately it appears they have fallen on hard times. Restaurant is frequently empty. Food is still very good but on the expensive side. However it is a gem and I sincerely hope they survive economically. So many restaurants do not. Give them your support if you can. Once they are gone...

(Translated by Google) The burger and topping options are quite varied. The guacamole with roasted chili on top is spectacular, the Hawaiian with grilled pineapple is sweet, and the Kong, contrasting with plantain, is a delight. The milkshake isn't sweet, offering a good balance of flavor and presentation. Parking is on the street, and there are a couple of guys on duty. They accept card and check payments. The mango habanero dip is quite good, but the extra order of guacamole and the rings were a bit too few for me. The atmosphere is totally family-friendly, and the music is 70s/80s, which we enjoyed. Zoo featuring animal exhibits from birds to tigers, plus restaurants, a boating lake & a playground.
Amazing zoo with a bunch of different species of animals. Plus, the animals are always being taken care of and they seem really healthy. The place is always clean and safe for kids. Also, The food is good and they have a lot of variety on their menu. It's really cool that every single animal habitat is connected to each other, so it's really easy to reach each different species. Additionally, the independent buildings that charge you to come in are cheap, the only one that is not that worth it, is the "aquarium" because it only has infographics and not animals. Finally, the service is always efficient and all the sellers and employees are knowledgeable and kind.
Bryan G — Google review
A remarkable zoo. We visit a zoo when ever we can in a new city and this one has topped all the others we have seen to date. The animal activity is healthy and fun. The zoo is large and clean. We enjoyed the aquarium exhibit with the video footage showing animals in their true habitat instead of a glass water bowl. The elephants and rhinos were active and fun, the camel also. We almost witnessed the birth of a Buffalo cow but they said the process could take 14 hours.. but we saw the labor and the start. The savanna was large and the animals seemed very content. Definitely a worthwhile day. Very enjoyable and a beautiful park

It's a very nice place to spend the day. Entrance and parking are cheap. You can get plenty of stuff inside the zoo, and prices are reasonable from $20 to $70. Everything is around $30 per person. Except "tirolesa" and boats the lake that are $70 and $80. There is plenty to eat, and some places take credit and debit cards.
Manuel C — Google review
Is a cool zoo to visit. I witness how the person checking the tickets at the entrance asked a family to go for a refund as their son with a disability shouldn't have paid a ticket at they go in for free. Anyone else would have kept silent as many do. We had a fun day. The only negative was that there were many exhibits closed or missing animals and/or their corresponding explanation sheet displayed.

We tried this restaurant around 4:30 not knowing exactly what to expect. We ordered the corn-based tasting menu and each of the 6 dishes were amazing. I was blown away by the quality of the meal. Our waiter's explanation of each dish showed his passion for food and the cultural values it represents. On top of a very special experience they surprised us at the end by letting us each pick the dish we enjoyed the most so that we could enjoy it again for free. I'd like to return and see what the other tasting menu is like!

Currently 97% of the museum is the works of Nahúm B. Zenil, which are all variations of self portraiture and mostly highly sexual. There's the artist as the devil (with a massive dong). There's the artist as two angels flying through the sky (getting it on). One of the few non-sexual works is a reproduction of Frida Kahlo's famous trolley painting with every face replaced with his own. The sum of the exhibit teeters between bemusing and crushingly tedious. I'm not sure I needed to see 100+ self-portraits of a dude mostly getting it on with himself. But hopefully he worked through whatever issues he was working through. I've never left an art gallery feeling like I less understand what "art" is. p.s. don't bring the kids.

We have seen here an exhibition called Hombre Universal by Leopoldo Flores (the same artist who did vitrals in the botanical garden) and the paintings were even more interesting than the garden. The entrance is free which is awesome for two floors full of art.

If you like Egyptian statues and history this is a place for you. On Wednesdays there is free entry. They created mannequins to simulate the discovery of Egyptian tombes. Very nice themed atmosphere, there is also a Christian section which consists mostly of paintings and a few statues. It is a bit small though.

It is great place to take a walk and see awesome paintings.

Restaurant
Portal Central is an exceptional dining establishment that offers a remarkable culinary experience. The food and service provided are of the highest quality, leaving customers thoroughly satisfied. Housed in a converted old complex, the restaurant boasts numerous private rooms with unique themes that embody a modern Mexican twist. The staff, including waitress Azela, are outstandingly polite, cheerful, and delightful to be around.
Beautiful and atmospheric place. It has private rooms as well as the main dining area, whatever you are planning may fit in there. The menu is also rich in regional options and everything is delicious. Finally, the service is outstanding. The prices are high but the portions, quality and taste are more than deserving

Average food, annoying service. Our waitress appeared to be having a very bad day, hovered over us to whip away plates and cups barely before the last morsel had passed our lips and when we wanted to order desert she had completely disappeared so we chased down the cheque and left.

An amazing dining experience. Food and service is top notch. Restaurant is an old housing complex that's been converted so there are an abundance of private rooms with unique themes in a clean and modern Mexican twist. Our waitress, Azela, was amazing. Polite, cheerful and a delight to be around. We enjoyed everything we ordered and will 100% return again.

We began the day at the Botanical Gardens and continued to the Museum Bellas Artes. Which was closed but that led us to inquire and discover three wonderful museums right down the street. A conversation with personnel at one pointed us in the direction of Restaurant Portal Central. The restaurant turned out to be wonderful. As you will see from the attached menu link, the dishes are a combination of traditional Mexican fare but with interesting twists. Nahuatl figures into the menu, indigenous elements. A guacamole topped with chapulines for jus one example. I had a roast chicken served in a thick chocolatey Poblano style mole sauce, accompanied by rice, wrapped and steamed in an hoja santa leaf. Irene opted for the house recipe chile en nogada, served at room temperature and not battered. Classic. Accompanied by a courtesy house brand wine that was partly Malbec and partly Cabernet Sauvignon. The presentation of all of the dishes was spot on. Salsas and chips and bread also served. This is a restaurant that I am already looking forward to returning to. We were pleased with everything from the decor, to the service, to the food itself. Highly recommended.

One of the top options to delight Mexican cousine prepared by a chef, I do recommend “mole” and “pipian” both delicious transport me to my childhood, excelente servicie by the waiters and very original desserts as “Luna-something” a combination of Mexican tradicional candies with a gourmet touch, do not skip this restaurant if you are in town

(Translated by Google) The place is super cute and elegant, and the food is a perfect representation of Mexican cuisine with a unique flavor. The prices are moderate and affordable. Ramón served us with extreme kindness and cordiality. Without a doubt, it's now one of my favorite places! 100% recommended. (Translated by Google) I always enjoyed going there until I had a bad experience. The waiter offered me a molcajete for two (which is listed on the menu for approximately 450 pesos), and I accepted. What he brought me was what's shown in the photo (which wasn't served in a molcajete, but I didn't think much of it). The surprise came when he brought the bill, and it turned out that what he brought me cost 1300 pesos, which, of course, wasn't on the menu. I don't mind paying that amount for a dish; what bothers me is that the waiter led me to believe he was bringing me a molcajete that was on the menu and not a dish whose price he didn't even tell me, and which certainly wasn't worth 1300 pesos. Obviously, I didn't leave a tip, and as expected, he got annoyed. 😆 My advice is to be careful if the waiter offers you something; make sure it's on the menu, and if not, ask how much it costs so you don't get any surprises when it's time to pay.

We had the Parillada ranchera. It was amazing! Everything was delicious! The service is good and fast. The price was reasonable for the amount of food.

CUCARACHAS??? Any waitress would be embarrassed not to check the dish she handed you, apologize and not accept money... Not after there is: something strange about what you are having dinner, and she tells you with a peculiar smile; YES, YES IT'S A COCKROACH!!! She continued smiling, without apologizing or seeming indignant... she quickly received the bonus money and left. The manager, yes, told me; "I'm very sorry, they fumigated yesterday and there must have been some left." Another diner told me; I'm sorry that you have that feeling of disgust, it makes me very sorry for others!!! He didn't serve me the food, but I got the point, then He advised me to check the negative comments, from reviews on Google, before visiting another site, and I did: they had already complained about this same thing but I found out very late.

Food tastes good but very greasy, And expensive, 200g of meat costs around 280 pesos. Slow service. And overall experience is regular.

Restaurant
Petra Fonda is an elegant establishment located in a sprawling 1907 house that offers a unique blend of Mexican fusion cuisine and handcrafted cocktails. The charming restaurant features exquisite international dishes with a Mexican twist. One can indulge in delightful options like the Pasta Iberica, accompanied by freshly baked bread that adds to the culinary experience. For dessert, the pastel selva negra is not only nice but also substantial enough to be considered a meal on its own due to its large portion size.
Lovely venue- feels like stepping into the history of a beautifully renovated home with architectural interest and charm. The cocktails were delicious and the taro cookie was a welcome treat.

A very classy restaurant, nice setting and very attentive staff. It was a quiet evening since it was the middle of the week. We had dinner and tried the soup and an entree each. I had the salmon, my husband had the medallion. Given that I try a lot of restaurants, I wasn't impressed but the food was good. We were too full for dessert and were not able to try them but they looked fancy! I would recommend, liked the vibe and great service!

Wow. Everything about this restaurant is first rate. Sergio and staff is excellent. My Salmon Omelette with caviar was divine and my partners Omelette with Serrano ham and goat cheese equally delish. A visual feast.

Really good food! The vintage environment is cozy and the service is good. Prices are a bit high but food is delicious. I would definitely go back.

The restaurant is quaint with beautiful international food with a Mexican touch. I ordered the Pasta Iberica which was delicious. The bread accompanying the pasta was freshly baked and delightful. I also had the pastel selva negra for dessert which was nice as well and practically a meal in itself.... Its huge. The restaurant is more expensive as compared to usual Mexican fine dining but you do get your money's worth with the experience here.

Excelente place for a nice time, the mood is nice, relax. If you're looking for a different light the restaurant has done a great job utilizing all the rooms.

I hadn't expected to find a truly gourmet restaurant in Toluca, but Petra can compete with the higher-end restaurants of Mexico City and hold its own. The interior is very pretty--a restored older building with a peaceful courtyard. I wasn't too keen on the service, which though polite, made a couple of mistakes with our drinks. Thankfully they corrected these without complaining. Also, I think it's silly for an upscale restaurant to only offer bottled water--distinguish yourself with your wine menu, not with a $5 US bottle of water. My only other complaint is that the smoking area is within the courtyard, which means all the other guests have to breath your second-hand smoke. If I'm going to pay $50 dollars a person, I don't want to get cancer as a side effect.
