The Marine Biology Museum, managed by the Faculty of Biology of the University of Salento, offers a compact yet impressive collection of preserved sea specimens and reconstructions of local coastlines and seabeds. The museum's walls are painted to replicate the characteristics of the area's flora and coastline. It is a family-friendly attraction with varied exhibits distributed across display cases, making it particularly appealing to children. While labeling is primarily in Italian, visitors can still appreciate the long-standing artifacts on display.
Very child friendly museum

(Translated by Google) A very interesting museum, especially if you listen to the biologist's explanations. On Wednesdays, during the summer, there's a guided tour at 7 pm, suitable for both adults and children. Our girls were fascinated and listened for an hour and a half (even though it was dinner time), and they talked about starfish, basking sharks, and seahorses all evening. (Translated by Google) The museum is meticulously maintained and completely free. You can admire many marine species, including around 900 specimens preserved in liquid. A treasure trove of loggerhead sea turtles, monk seals, sperm whale vertebrae, and much more. There's a small table for children and me to draw on, and it even has a toilet. Inside, you'll find the Porto Cesareo Fishing Museum. Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia di Punta Prosciutto, located in Salento, Porto Cesareo, is a stunning beach with a small busy strip of white sand and transparent shallow waters. The free beach offers picturesque scenery with high dunes and vibrant colors. It's a popular spot for sunbathers and swimmers, especially families with little kids due to its crystal-clear water and shallow depth at low tide.
Beautiful beach – but beware of Sundays in high season The beach is truly beautiful – clean, with soft sand and crystal-clear water. Just a heads-up if you’re visiting on a Sunday in July: it was really crowded, and we couldn’t get a sunbed or umbrella, as everything was already taken. Definitely worth a visit, but ideally on a weekday or with your own gear.
Milinatali — Google review
A beautiful long sandy beach with green shallow water. Perfect for little ones as it’s shallow for 50 yards or more. There are a few black seaweed spots that you can easily avoid. It’s very long so there is plenty of space to find a spot even when it’s busy. There are free spots and paid spots with an umbrella and chairs. You can also pay 5 Euro to park else there is a bunch of free side street parking within an easy walk to the beach. There are a few beach bars and some sit down restaurants. There are quite a few merchant peddlers selling stuff including water toys. Felt like I was in the Caribbean, so I would definitely check out this beach if in the area.
Chris H — Google review
The sea is beautiful but definitely colder than down in gallipoli Also the beach being over crowded with people is very disappointing Not even a nice crowd

As a resident of southern California, nothing in California compares. This is an amazing pkace to visit and spend a summer vacation.
Anthony J — Google review
Visited this place last year in July, it was just what we love in a beach - a perfect clear blue water and a white sand. It was quite crowded at a time, but didn’t bother - this clear water beats it all. Will come back definitely.
Daria — Google review
Phenomenal beach. Turquoise and incredibly clear sea, white/golden sand. BUT way overcrowded. People are cramped up like sardines. Ombrelloni, loungers, towels, and chairs everywhere so it’s even difficult to go to the sea AVOID in summer months. Try to go end of may, first part of june and september, should be bearable.

Torre di San Tommaso, also known as Torre Lapillo, gets its name from the medieval watchtower and the unique "lapilli" sand on its beach. This ancient tower was once used to defend against Saracens and now offers visitors the chance to explore its interior and climb to the top for stunning panoramic views. Recent visitors have marveled at the telescope atop the tower, providing breathtaking sights of Saturn and the moon.
Not the first time that I am coming here, as it is just so beautiful! Loving history and culture and enjoying this Torre by the ocean!

Iconic tower of the Salento western coast. Beautiful and well preserved.

This is maybe one of the most amazing towers to visit on the southern side of Puglia, the view on top is priceles as is the fresh breeze relieving from the summer hotness!
Ataridoshi — Google review
Is was the and of may, so it was not open, but still it was worth it walk over there and fight with mosquitoes 🦟
Nóra K — Google review
I came to visit this tower twice during my vacation. The first time it was closed to only private visits, but to compensate they made a really interesting show in collaboration with the local dance club, I quite enjoyed it. The lesson I learned here is that one should always inform him/herself about the location to visit. It's not too bad that you can't enter, the tower is still quite impressive from the outside too and at night it gets illuminated. During the day you can also chill on the small open pond there and enjoy the sea.

Amazing place, from the crystal clear water to the atmosphere and comfort of the sun beds. We’ve been here 2 weekends in a row in the month of August and they always accommodated us. Both times we just showed up to the morning of and they found umbrellas for us. The food is amazing and super fresh and I have to say, compared to other Lidos in the same area, their prices are very reasonable. For the same comfort and quality you can expect to pay double if not more in other places. The owners are very friendly as well. I really don’t get those that have had a bad experience here. My family and I will be back, 100%!

I don't know why it is there, but when sunset comes the colors that characterize it are fantastic. Her face seems ruined and needs more care. (Translated by Google) The statue is most famous for its controversy. Installed in 2002 and dedicated to Manuela Arcuri as a symbol of beauty and prosperity, it depicts the then young and emerging actress (also known for numerous nude calendars) in the guise of the goddess of fortune, holding a cornucopia full of fish. What a beautiful display of grace! Well, let's pretend to believe it... I saw the statue a few years later, and it wasn't much, but at least it was new, in good condition, and clean. Although, of course, one might ask, "What the hell does Manuela Arcuri have to do with Porto Cesareo?" Subsequently, one municipal administration removed the statue and another reinstated it. In the meantime, the statue has aged prematurely; the nose and lips have been vandalized, and the stone has darkened in several places. Its placement is quite unfortunate: it stands on the pier in front of the tables of a nearby bar. Strangely, however, the statue always faces land. Which is quite unusual for a statue located on the seafront!

Accessible by efficient taxiboats, the island offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of mainland life. Visitors recommend visiting during less crowded periods for a more peaceful experience. The island's natural beauty and serene atmosphere make it an ideal spot for relaxation and enjoying the Caribbean-like waters.

It would merit a 5 stars for the quite and the many small beaches that it offers. Really a pity for the litter you find around the small island. I filled 3 bags just by going around! (I found the the 3 bags on my wandering...)

(Translated by Google) Beautiful little island, the problem is how it is looked after by tourists. I attach photos of our plastic cleaning operation. To reach the island you will find several stalls that will sell you boat transit for €5/6 return. Almost uncontaminated island, different areas with different seas with different water heights. I recommend trying!

(Translated by Google) The island is very easy to reach by boat. The water is very shallow, about half a meter deep almost everywhere. It's truly amazing if you manage to do some snorkeling, as it's full of all kinds of fish. There are very sheltered areas, but also some with a bit more wind. If you want to tour the island, I recommend choosing a slightly windier day.

(Translated by Google) Stupendous.... Small island a short distance from Porto Cesareo and reachable in a couple of minutes by taxi boat, pedal boat and even swimming. There are rocks, a small beach and a pine forest. It is very small and you can visit it all on foot in a short time. The sea is very beautiful and suitable for everyone even for children because the water is never high. I recommend rock shoes and snorkeling masks or masks (Original) Stupenda....

(Translated by Google) Wild and very beautiful island, reachable by sea, but also on foot at low tide starting from the center of Porto Cesareo (this last statement was made by some locals who know the exact route). The seabed a few meters from the island in the offshore part (south and west) is quite deep, but extremely clear, so much so that you can see sea urchins (Original) Isola selvaggia e molto bella, raggiungibile via mare, ma anche a piedi nei momenti di bassa marea partendo dal centro di Porto Cesareo (quest'ultima affermazione è stata fatta da alcuni abitanti del luogo che conoscono il percorso esatto).

Lido Beach Hookipa is a vibrant beach club that perfectly captures the essence of seaside relaxation and enjoyment. Nestled just a short distance from Torre Lapillo Beach, this lively spot offers an array of amenities including sun lounger rentals, delightful seafront dining, and a welcoming atmosphere enhanced by friendly staff. Visitors rave about the pristine waters and delicious food, making it an ideal destination for those looking to unwind under the sun.
Wonderful place with pretty coconut parasols and teak furniture. A quality clientele of all ages, but mostly between 30 and 40. Lively atmosphere, but without any headache-inducing music. The staff is adorable and very attentive. The sand is clean. The beach beds are comfortable. The prices are more than reasonable. Quite crowded, as it was a Sunday in the height of summer. And yet, perfectly peaceful. A lovely discovery to end our stay in Puglia.
Batyah B — Google review
Toooo loud music. You cannot even hear your own voice. Even though there is an entrance fee, you have to add 0.50euro to use the shower. We did not have coins so we could not use them which was annoying. The sea was so nice though.
Betül M — Google review
Hookipa in Porto Cesareo is an excellent spot I highly recommend for weekend aperitifs, especially when there’s some music playing. You can enjoy great drinks with your feet in the water or dance right on the sand, creating a lively and unforgettable atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for a tasty aperitif, you’ll find delicious snacks like tarallini, friselline, little mozzarella bites, and other local treats. You can also visit Hookipa during the day for the beach experience, but in my opinion, the true highlight of this place is definitely the evening aperitif vibe.

Best beach club in Torre Lapilla. Great service, clean, wonderful clear sea and always cold beer on the side 🏖️☀️🍸
Hildigunnur G — Google review
I would like to share my experience at Hookipa Beach, which was not very enjoyable. The sea is indeed beautiful, but that is not the credit of the establishment. It is not allowed to bring your own drinks and sandwiches, which I accepted. However, when I purchased food from them, it was very disappointing. The pasta with tomato sauce, which tasted like it came straight from a can, was barely warm and unpleasant. The fritto misto was as small as a fingernail and certainly not worth the price. Prices were sky-high. On another occasion, since we are a family with children we brought sandwiches , having noticed others there eating their own food. It seemed like we were being hunted down, as we were repeatedly warned that we could not have outside food. It was apparent that the lifeguards friends could eat what they wanted while we could not. I understand we are tourists, but this is not the way to treat visitors. Instead, they should make an effort to leave a good impression with tasty food. We chose Puglia to enjoy its tradition, flavors, and culinary delights, but it turned out to be a complete disappointment for tourists. I even researched and found no consumer law preventing us from eating homemade food. Only the sea and the beaches are beautiful, which is a gift from nature, not from them. In the following days, we visited another location where the staff was much friendlier, and there were no issues like these, allowing everyone to relax and enjoy.
Ana T — Google review
Absolutely recommended! Great value for money compared to other options in the area. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help with any request. The sea here is stunning, one of the best spots along the beach. Food is good too. Don’t look any further and make sure to book ahead.

Spiaggia di Torre Lapillo is a popular beach located on the coast road from Torre Lapillo to Porto Cesareo in Salento, Italy. It's known for its wide stretch of white sand and crystal-clear blue waters, making it an ideal spot for families with children and young groups looking for fun. The area offers stunning sunset views and is surrounded by natural parks, providing a picturesque setting for visitors.
Very nice beach with white sand. However, it can get very crowded. I’d suggest coming in the evening, you can find easily a parking spot
Valeria F — Google review
Wonderful sea water, a bit too growded for my taste and a bit to fancy the paid area, but the free area is extremely crowded. Maybe because is friday and during the weekend is better. Nevertheless the nature part is wonderful.
Georgiana N — Google review
Absolute nightmare on weekends. We were at the beach at 9:30 and every umbrella was sold out. We tried at 6 different beach bars and they were all sold out. Apparently you have to reserve in advance but none of the bars mention this in their google profile. After almost 2 hours walking along the beach we found 2 umbrellas at the last line in one of the cafes and barely had space to move around and to walk to the water. Deffinitely not the right beach if you want to relax and breathe.
Virzhinia K — Google review
Honestly don’t bother going in August. Hardly any free sand, all space is either taken up by enormous, overpriced beach clubs or tiny patches of overcrowded sand between them. Such a shame as out of season it’s probably beautiful. We arrived at 9am to beat the crowds and were so disappointed!
Lucy P — Google review
One of the best beach in the area. Clear water, kid friendly and beautiful surrounding.

Get here early morning and will be like paradise, white sand, flat and crystalline sea, perfect for families and kids. Good and honest prices for the staying 15 euro all day. Around 12:00 can get a bit to crowded but if you patience a bit around 16:30 will get easy again and you can enjoy a wanderful sunset. We arrived from San Michele Salentino about 50min car and is totally worth it! Best beach of salento

We went there in June. The staff wasn't friendly and kind of grumpy. For two sunbeds (it was max. 5-10% occupied) they wanted 30 € (at 4 o'clock in the afternoon). Classic tourist rip-off and not a typical price in preaseason.

(Translated by Google) I spent a lovely day here during my holiday in Puglia. Booking in advance was easy through the website. Parking was private and convenient, and the service was friendly. I foolishly arrived on the wrong day, but they were so helpful in changing my reservation (even though it wasn't changeable). The staff were very friendly, and they spoke good English. I felt very welcome! The atmosphere is great, the decor is beautiful and inviting, the beds are comfortable, and the sea is stunning. And all this for a low price compared to lidos in the area. I would recommend it to everyone and will definitely be back! Heb me erg welkom gevoeld! Nestled at the end of a picturesque peninsula, Spiaggia della Penisola della Strea offers an enchanting escape for those willing to venture off the beaten path near Porto Cesareo. This hidden gem features a low rocky coastline that borders a serene lagoon, making it perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. While the beach may have some litter and white foam—likely due to pollution—the stunning surroundings more than compensate for these minor flaws.
