Maranello in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Maranello, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Maranello attracts visitors as the home of Ferrari, where you can tour the Ferrari Museum, see historic racing cars, and explore the brand’s heritage. The town sits in the heart of Emilia-Romagna’s Motor Valley, with easy access to other automotive museums and factories. Nearby Modena and the surrounding countryside offer traditional food experiences, including Parmigiano Reggiano and balsamic vinegar producers, making Maranello a good base for combining car culture with regional cuisine.
With favorites like Monumento al Cavallino Rampante, Ristorante Cavallino, and Tabaccheria Sirio, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Ristorante Carisma and 27 Officina della pizza so you can get the best taste of Maranello while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Museum
Specialty Museums
Museum Ferrari Maranello is an interactive museum featuring exhibitions, films, and a racing simulator dedicated to the iconic sports car. Galleria Ferrari, the official exhibition center for the history of Ferrari, showcases the evolution of Formula One engines and highlights Shell's contribution to Scuderia Ferrari's success. The museum also hosts a parade of 499Ps through the town center and offers insights into Enzo Ferrari's life at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena.
If you are into car, then this is absolutely a MUST SEE place to go. There are actually 2 museums in Modena, and we went to the smaller one first, but this much larger museum is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, and it was WAY more than I or my wife was expecting. I had no idea that it was as big as it is, and can't recommend it enough. There are even interactive displays that you can pay extra for if you want to do them. Definitely go, if you're in the area. It's worth every penny...

We visited the Ferrari Museum in Maranello as a family, and although it’s not the first place you’d imagine bringing a baby, it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We decided to leave the stroller in the car and use our Ergobaby carrier instead, and that was the perfect choice — it gave us full freedom to move around without worrying about stairs or elevators, and our daughter was cozy, calm, and close to us the whole time. The museum itself is spotless, modern, and beautifully designed. From the very first hall, with rows of gleaming red cars under dramatic lighting, we felt immersed in the Ferrari legend. Our little one, still so small, was captivated by the reflections and the bright colors — her eyes kept darting from car to car, and several visitors stopped to smile at her reactions. Those small moments made us feel really welcome, and staff members were also warm and attentive without ever being intrusive. The exhibitions cover both Ferrari’s road cars and its Formula 1 history. On the practical side, the museum worked well with a baby. The restrooms were very clean, though not perfectly equipped for diaper changes, but we managed without trouble. The only real downside for us was the price: tickets are 27€ per adult. For a museum that takes about one to two hours to visit, it feels expensive, and I think a family ticket or a slightly lower entry fee would make the experience more accessible. That’s the only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five, because otherwise it was a truly memorable and surprisingly baby-friendly outing. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Ferrari Museum in Maranello even with a little one. Using a baby carrier made it very easy, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it gave us a special family memory in a place you wouldn’t necessarily expect to be child-friendly. For us, it was worth it — an unforgettable mix of Ferrari’s world and our own new chapter as parents.
Elena G — Google review
Very modern and stylish museum for Ferrari cars. A unique collection of road, prototype and racing cars from the early years up until now. Rather small compared to Porsche and Mercedes museums in Stuttgart, but that was the only “negative” and hence 4 of 5 stars. Nevertheless, for anyone with petrol in the blood, this is a truly great visit and experience!
Per M — Google review
A good place for Ferrari or car enthusiasts. Is a bit of a trek from Modena, but they have a bus leaving from the station once daily in the morning. Use the link on the museum ticketing page to book a seat. Tickets sold on the bus but pre oiled seats will get preference. The museum itself is well laid out and has lots of cars on display. From the early models to F1 cars. Kids over 150cm can get on the stimulators for a 7 minute test ride. The stimulators are pretty good. Gift shop is expensive but has a few scale models around the 30 Euro mark. You can't buy just one, has to be bought with another item. Magnets, key chains etc are 20 euro so better off buying 2 models instead. An hourly public bus runs at 18 minutes on the hour from a nearby bus stand, takes 45 minutes to Modena. Better to take this than stay till 2:45 when the museum bus leaves. Walking to the bus stand we saw some options for a ride in a Ferrari car outside. Was a rainy day so did not explore around, but doesn't look like there is much else in the surrounding area
Kev R — Google review
Well, it speaks for itself, the museum of the greatest car maker in the world. A must see probably for everyone, not just car lovers. If you go on weekends don't rush to be too early there, there were far less people waiting to go in as we left. The parking lot directly at the museum is pretty small and gets occupied quickly, so use the other one, it's also free and only one street north from the museum. For exiting you need the bar code of your ticket, so if you did not buy it online, don't throw it away. One can take photos in an F8 Tributo at the end of the tour even if one did not book it, it is of course charged. You can drive in an F1 Simulator, I recommend you book your desired time slot for that one.
Emil S — Google review
If you’re in town, buy your Museo Ferrari Maranello tickets in advance — otherwise, you’ll be waiting in line for quite a while to get in. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, offering an awe-inspiring look at Ferrari models from its earliest creations to the present day. The trophy room is absolutely spectacular, and the simulated racing experience is a must-try! Everyone thinks it’s easy, but it’s surprisingly challenging — even in the simulation, you can feel how physically demanding race car driving really is. It gave me a whole new appreciation for what professional drivers endure on the track.
KARLA G — Google review
The Ferrari museum is incredible. We bought the tickets together with the bus from Modena. There is a cafe at the entrance if you are waiting for your time to enter. Then you go to the ticket office, get a badge and you can go to the first floor for a tour. Lots of cars, engines, upholstery, colors, logos, the development of the brand and the whole history. It is really worth it. At the end there is a shop with products waiting for you. I recommend going to the smaller shops in the parking lot, where you can also rent a car and drive around.
Pavla B — Google review
A wonderful collection and curation of Ferrari. Thoroughly enjoyed reading the write up behind each vehicle. Parking was available on site with overflow parking across the road. Free parking for ticket holders and you just scan your barcode to exit the overflow parking.

Pushstart srl offers a variety of packages to suit different budgets, but the track experience comes highly recommended. Customers have praised the ease of booking and the enjoyable driving experience with instructors like Antonio. Some have opted for road drives instead of track experiences and found them to be unforgettable, with instructors like Richard making the drive exciting and fun. The opportunity to push the car within reason on scenic routes outside the city has been highlighted as a worthwhile splurge, providing an exhilarating experience for couples or individuals.
The shop give us the opportunity to rent exotic and sophisticated cars. I had an amazing experience to be driven inside a Portofino Ferrari and my driver (Pepe if I am not wrong) was great and explained everything about the city to me. My friend drove a Lamborghini Huracan and for him was the best experience ever and his instructor was amazing and told him the best tips how to drive around the city. We really recommend to go there and check the cars to rent them for some time and enjoy your ride.
Jaqueline W — Google review
We did the 60 minute drive in the Portofino. Since we were in the home of Ferrari it is almost mandatory that you need to drive one, so we did. I knew it was a “street drive” and not on a track so we would not be driving the car like it wants to be driven. That said, the experience was less than expected and after about 20 minutes I settled in and accepted that I was driving a $250,000 car at a leisurely pace on unfamiliar country roads with lots of potholes, bike riders and slow vehicles. As many have said in other reviews, we did stop the car on a somewhat long straightaway and wait for the traffic in front to move away a bit so we could “floor it” and feel the power.. that was fun, but still just a few seconds and in a straight line. So, with my new mindset it was a fine experience to say I drove a nice car in Italy. Was it worth the cost? That is subjective and to me it was significantly more fun to drive the 458 on a closed track in Las Vegas than it was to do this, and less expensive.
Lisa W — Google review
I think those people are the best! All nice and calm, supervisor let’s drive freely and responsibly , I’ve tested a Huracan Performante and pushed it to the limits! It was an awesome experience! Definitely will repeat the next time I am in Maranello!
Sam H — Google review
They actually let you floor it if you take the 20-minute session or above, which was a big surprise for me! The Portofino was the closest thing to teleportation i’ve ever experienced and it’s the “slowest” car they provide, if you can even say that about a Ferrari. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. My instructor was incredibly patient with my questionable shifting skills, and I really appreciated that. You can tell they truly care about the experience and take real pride in the fact that these machines are made in Italy. Recommended for anyone traveling to Emilia.
Michail L — Google review
It's pricey but if you like fast cars I would 100% recommend going for a drive in one of their available cars. They have multiple options for how long the drive is and what you can see. You sit in a car with a very calm and nice instructor who knows exactly where you can give gas and take some corners. They also have a nice collection of model cars and legs car sets!
Michel S — Google review
Once in a life time opportunity (for me at least) to drive a Ferrari. Awesome experience, great interaction with the instructor and the people here. I had a Ferrari Portofino to drive, great great great experience
Dan M — Google review
It was the experience of a lifetime, Stefano, my instructor, was so informative, relaxed, and made me feel at ease with the experience. They also let you push the car on the road which was incredible. Definitely recommend it as I think it's very reasonably priced.

The Monument Enzo Ferrari is a significant landmark located in the Enzo Ferrari park in Modena. Ristorante Carisma is a popular dining spot located beneath Hotel Dumos. Despite some initial skepticism due to mixed reviews, the restaurant turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The owner, Matteo, warmly welcomed guests with a complimentary drink and the following day they enjoyed a delicious ham pizza after sightseeing in Maranello. The restaurant offers an extensive menu at reasonable prices with ample indoor and outdoor seating, making it an ideal choice for dining out.
The best pasta we've eaten in Italy. Great service. Awesome food. Parking just in front of the place. Music is not too loud, so you can have normal conversations. All was great.

I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The staff are incredibly fast, attentive, and approachable, which makes the whole atmosphere feel warm and welcoming. The service is truly on point and very professional. Prices are surprisingly affordable, especially considering how generous the portions are. I celebrated my birthday here, and they made it extra special by placing a candle on my tiramisu which was absolutely delicious! The Caesar salad was large and tasty, and the charcuterie platter for two was also excellent. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dining place.

We went to see the Ferrari museum and after we had lunch here. Of course it was really busy, but they told as before we sat down that the wait time is longer than usual. Food was fantastic, atmosphere was good as well, as we could watch F1 on TV during lunch. Overall we were happy!

The location is by far the most convenient for food after spending hours in the ferarri museum. The service was fast, prices reasonable, and the food was reheated but way better than fast food quality. The 2 euro per person is a standard seating fee that I hate in Italy but it is fine given the bread and oil that is also standard. Restaurant is very clean. They have outdoor and semi outdoor seating that overlooks the ferarri test drive station (so this doubles as entertainment).

The pizza was quite good. However, it felt odd to use a digital menu while the order was written down on a notepad. I found that a bit confusing. On the other hand, the atmosphere among the Ferraris was very enjoyable.

Restaurant
Desideria, a pizza restaurant in Maranello, offers delicious and flavorful pizzas with a caution to order them with sauce to avoid dryness. However, the spaghetti carbonara falls short compared to those found in Croatia, lacking taste despite being generously topped with sour cheese and bacon. It is advisable to order them in smaller portions due to their large serving sizes. The restaurant's prices are affordable and they provide a wide selection of pasta, pizza, and vegetables.
Amazing venue with great food and great prices. Marco served us (spoke great english) and was perfect and friendly. Would recommend you visit. 10/10 - grazie Marco and Desideria!!

picas were good, really tasty, but be aware to buy it with sauce, because when it's without it then it's not too good, little dry,but still taste was good. I ordered Spaghetti carbonara, but they were not so good, i had better in Croatia, it was just with a lot of sour cheese and bacon, but they didn't had a lot of taste, and i recommend to buy them half size, because you'll get a lot. Overall cheap food, picas good, spaghetti could be better.

When we asked the waiter about why it was taking so long he was quite rude and kept saying 'it's coming, it's coming". Then I pointed out that the service is very poor here so he started blaming us that we didn't book a table so we have to wait now longer. Appalling experience. For the price we paid, it's not worth at all.

Had a truly fantastic experience at MikEle. The atmosphere is stylish and welcoming, and the food was outstanding—I ate the best seared tuna I’ve ever had, and I’ve lived in Asia for years, so that’s saying something. I was dining alone but ended up having lovely conversations with the owner and his family, who made me feel genuinely welcome. Service was impeccable—warm, attentive, and professional throughout. A special place I’d absolutely recommend, and I’m already looking forward to going back.

Me and my friend came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely hospitality. Especially considering we probably were a little out of our class and under dressed, everyone was still very courteous. The food is obviously expensive but i’d say it’s well worth it if you’re looking for fine dining. The atmosphere was lovely and the facilities were all clean. Highly recommend

Our family visited MikEle in Maranello for lunch without a reservation a week ago, and we were warmly welcomed by the staff who went out of their way to offer us a table. From the very beginning, the service was incredibly polite and friendly — true professionalism in every detail! We were even offered a complimentary glass of champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was absolutely delicious, made with high-quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. Prices were also very fair for the quality and experience we received. MikEle is a must-visit! Whether you're passing through Maranello or staying nearby, don't miss the chance to dine here. Highly recommended!

A family restaurant with Michelin star. Absolutely delicious. Raw fish menu is highly recomended. You can wait up to 1 month to get a reservation.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Castello di Formigine, a 12th-century fortress strategically positioned for territorial defense, has a rich history dating back to 1201. The current structure is the result of extensive restoration in 1405. Surprisingly located in the heart of Formigine, this authentic and well-preserved castle offers an unexpected glimpse into the town's past. While the interior may lack a traditional 'castle feel,' it houses town offices and a museum displaying artifacts unearthed from the site.
Nice place, very beautiful 😍

Awesome awesome awesome staff! Cool place in a quaint little town. Castle is entry with free guided tour only (I think they do every 30 minutes). Unexpectedly at the last tour of the day, they did an English tour for me and my wife seperate from the main Italian group. The guide, who's name i regrettably forget, was incredible. She took us on an off script tour to avoid overcrowding with the rest of the other group, was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell she enjoyed her job. My wife and I both loved the tour, the castle, accommodation and the exceptional knowledge she had. She was able to answer every ignorant question with ease, her English was phenomenal and we are glad we were able to help her out with the torch. This place has some interesting history, even well before the WWII bombing, but also afterwards. There is now a restaurant on premises, but NO experience with what the restaurant has to offer and they are not included in the ratings in this review. The castle crew is great!

Totally unexpected. Visit the castle for sure. A nice experience in that beautiful little place

Great tour with an English speaking guide if requested. Sara did a wonderful job. Great way to learn more and understand life in and around the castle.

Super friendly staff! We did a guide tour, and they spoke english for us. They were so nice. The castle was beautiful. It is worth the visit!!
Kevin M — Google review
We arrived on a market day at the castle. It was very nice to see a castle being used as a town center. Town offices are even located in the castle! There is also a nice green space, and a restaurant on the grounds. Part of the castle is a true museum with artifacts recovered from the moat and other digs at the site - well worth doing the tour.
Joseph S — Google review
Large and ancient castle right in the centre of Formigine, where you'd least expect it. The whole castle is authentic and it's amazing to see that it's still standing. From the front it's amazing to photograph, but I wish that the inside had a little more of a "castle feel" rather than just featuring a great green area and trees. I wouldn't travel far just to see the castle on it's own, but if you're already strolling around in Formigine, pay a visit.

Car factory
The Ferrari Factory is a must-visit for fans of the iconic car maker. The museum showcases modern and classic racing cars, offering a glimpse into the history and heritage of Ferrari. Visitors can also experience an F1 simulator and explore the museum square. Additionally, guided tours take you through Maranello's famous streets, passing by the Ferrari Factory, racing department building, and wind tunnel before heading to Modena, Enzo Ferrari's hometown. The tour includes technical insights and stories from famous pilots.
The holy grail of the European sportscar culture. The photos were taken at Centro Stile, in the stunning new building of the design department within the factory areal in Maranello.
András S — Google review
The factory bus tour is not worth much…..they pack you on a bus and drive around the factory buildings. The bus windows were so dirty it was not ideal to see outside. The audio of the tour guide was so distorted it was hard to understand. The “track tour” is parking next to the track where you can see a very small section of track and then they take you the track map to “explain” the track.😂 No photos allowed. Don’t feel bad missing it….you won’t miss much.
Paul L — Google review
Very nice people showing us the insights of the Ferrari production. It's amazing to see at what highest level these cars are being produced. Thank you for having me with you and for your hospitality.

The Ferrari Factory is where the legend comes to life. Enzo Ferrari’s vision is tangible in every corner. The staff take clear pride in their work, carefully carrying the brand from assembly to final touches. Each person fulfils a distinct role, and the coordination is impressive. A straightforward, authentic experience for anyone who cares about craftsmanship and automotive history.
Ali A — Google review
A very well organised day for Ferrari employees and their families. We could visit most of the several departments and take a close look at the machinery and materials used and see the many stages it takes to construct and assemble the beautiful luxury cars.
Antoinette B — Google review
We took the factory tour. It was an absolute BS. They told us no picture or video. We thought they are gonna show us at least a portion of the manufacturing process. But... all they did, they drove the bus in the driveway and introduced the buildings without you being able to see anything! All we saw was buildings and staffs' cars (mostly alfa romeo!). And the funny things is that she kept repeating "It's important ! No photo, no video". you can see what ee saw from google map satelite view! Waste of time and money.
Nima R — Google review
A nice museum Lots of history to learn You get a chance to try the simulator and choose the tack of your choice in different cities -additional $25 Tip : - ask for the discovery passport so you get to see more for less $$ - you can Lao rent a real Ferrari outside for a quick warm up - nice collection at the gift shop - the washroom at the gift shop is hidden behind a sliding door , clean and air conditioned Cons : - little information on how you can spend your day - we wanted to see the factory but that was not offered clearly - the gift shop is overpriced
Vancouverite111 — Google review
The place itself it’s interesting, not much story telling. Big paid parking for the visitors. We were expecting that we would spend at least 2 hours but we went for 40 minutes. Museum store is extremely overpriced.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Cavallino is a stylish restaurant filled with memorabilia, originally opened by Enzo Ferrari in 1950. The restaurant has been revisited to interpret the spirit and values of Ferrari within its original walls. It has been transformed into a space inspired by technology, craftsmanship, quality, and performance. The symbol of Ferrari's experience, Ristorante Cavallino is witness to the deep bond with the territory and relationships built over time.
Truly exceptional, a tasting menu full of creativity and a memorable experience all the way through. A real appreciation for the world of Ferrari, each dish was as exciting as the staff member presenting them to us. Great portions for each dish make The Supercar tasting menu worth every penny; with my favorites being the Sweetbread, the lobster spaghetti, the Sturgeon, the Pigeon, and the dessert. Ristorante Cavallino nailed their ambiance and service, making this one of my favorite dining experiences to date.

Amazing experience, once in a lifetime you have to be here! Between wines from Andrea, to the superior service of Filomena and all the crew working to be unique! Every dish and every glass of wine has an explanation, from Ferrari cars to the world best products from italy to eat. Unforgettable lunch. For sure a place to repeat every time you can!
Leonardo D — Google review
Must stop when in Maranello to get the full Ferrari experience. The food was delicious. I did the Supercars tasting. With that being said, service for that caliber of restaurant was lacking and very slow. It took about 3 1/2 hours to through the 7 courses. Had to refilled my own beverage twice - typically not a big deal, but unexpected on a restaurant if this price range with several wait staff for each table.
Martin P — Google review
For your own sake…. you must come here. I am still sitting here at my table after finishing my dessert and am beyond impressed. From the food, to the cocktails, to the service… this is all you could ever want from a fine dining experience. If I lived it Italy I would travel to Maranello just to come and eat here. The Ferrari name and atmosphere is merely a bonus. The decor reminds you where you are and makes for a super cool atmosphere, but it is only a small part of what makes this place amazing. Special thank you to my server - Giuseppe. Top class gentleman and waiter. Thank you!
Kevin — Google review
The atmosphere is elegant yet warm, like a refined cocoon inspired by a welcoming family trattoria. The décor is tasteful, filled with exclusive and historic pieces that tell the story of Ferrari’s legendary journey. The chefs present two menus, one celebrating traditional Italian dishes, and another, the “Supercars” menu, creatively inspired by the brand’s most iconic models. Both are executed with remarkable inspiration and precision. The service is attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. An incredible experience from start to finish. Thank you for this warm welcome!

The food and the service were outstanding! I also had the opportunity to have a personalized visit by the Maître D who was simply amazing in sharing his passion for all things Ferrari and cars! :) he showed me Roos where Enzo would receive his guest and have meals.
