We had a fantastic authentic Sri Lankan experience with owner Ruwan. Located on a back country road, the place is clean, quiet and safe, overlooking rice fields and offering a view of the Knuckle range.
Ruwan gave us a walking tour of the area, explaining planting practices and showing us different edible and aromatic plants. We also helped him and his son building lanterns to celebrate Boudha's anniversary.
Lastly, the food was excellent and varied, and in true Sri lanka way, plentiful.
Thank you to Rowan and his family for the warm welcome and hospitality.
Ridge Boundary View was BY FAR the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip—I can’t recommend it enough! This isn’t just a stay; it’s an experience that everyone should have.
Ruwan is the perfect host—welcoming, attentive, and always going the extra mile to make your trip better. He gave us a fascinating tour of the property, where they grow over 20 types of food, from rice and jackfruit to coconut and even breadfruit (which I had never heard of before!). Walking through the lush farm, touching and smelling the fresh ingredients, and listening to Ruwan’s hilarious stories made it unforgettable.
Every meal was a farm-to-table feast, prepared with love by Ruwan’s family. From homemade cinnamon tea to an incredible spread of Sri Lankan dishes, everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. Each meal came with an explanation of its ingredients and preparation, giving us a deep appreciation for Sri Lankan cuisine—so much so that throughout the rest of our trip, we’d try dishes and say, “It’s good, but not as good as Ruwan’s!”
The location is breathtaking. Watching the sunrise over the Knuckles Mountains right from our bed was pure magic, followed by the best breakfasts we had in Sri Lanka. Ruwan also made our trip seamless, organizing everything from transport to an unforgettable safari, where we saw over 20 elephants up close! He even helped us navigate local buses, making what could have been a hassle into a fun adventure. Dambulla has plenty to see/do, with elephant safaris, the amazing Sigiriya Rock, Cave Temple, or just reading a book on the balcony and enjoying the view.
Even after we left, Ruwan checked in to make sure we arrived safely at our next stop. He’s not just a host—he’s a genuinely kind and hilarious person who made our trip truly special. If you’re visiting Sri Lanka, do yourself a favor and stay here. You won’t regret it!
Words can hardly do justice to how exceptional this place is. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that staying here was the perfect choice. Like many travelers, we initially worried about the location not being in the center of Dambulla. But we quickly realized that this turned out to be the best possible decision. Nestled in the tranquility of nature, the homestay offers a peaceful retreat away from the noise and chaos of the city while still being incredibly convenient.
The logistics couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the main road connects you to public buses that run every few minutes and can take you anywhere you need to go for next to nothing. Whether you're heading to Dambulla, Sigiriya, or beyond, getting around is effortless and budget-friendly, making this location absolutely ideal for exploring the area.
What truly sets this place apart, though, is Ruwan, the host. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. His hospitality is unparalleled—he doesn’t just take care of his guests, he anticipates their needs. Whether it was helping us plan our day, organizing transportation, or sharing local tips, Ruwan was always there to make everything easy and enjoyable.
One of the absolute highlights of our stay was a guided walk with Ruwan around the local area. As he shared fascinating stories and introduced us to native plants, we felt like we were experiencing a side of Sri Lanka that most visitors miss. It was hands down our favorite moment in the Sigiriya region.
And then there’s the homestay itself. The view from our window was nothing short of magical—waking up to stunning sunrises and lush greenery was an experience we’ll never forget. The rooms are immaculately clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, offering a perfect blend of simplicity and coziness.
The food deserves its own paragraph. Every meal was a feast of fresh, home-cooked goodness, bursting with authentic flavors. Sitting down to enjoy meals prepared with so much care felt like sharing a table with family.
This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience, a home away from home, and a gateway to discovering the beauty of Sigiriya and Dambulla. The saying "arrive as a guest, leave as a friend" couldn’t be more true here.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, convenient, and truly special place to stay, this is it. We’ve traveled a lot, and this homestay easily ranks among the best we’ve ever visited. Thank you, Ruwan, for making our time in Sri Lanka unforgettable. Highly, highly recommended!
