Emm Georges in Byblos is truly a hidden gem. It’s literally right by the beach, with an unlimited blue view that makes the whole experience unforgettable. What makes it even more special is that it’s a well-known local spot, mostly frequented by Byblos locals and Lebanese, but not something you easily find online when searching tourist recommendations. We actually discovered it thanks to a local taxi driver (LEB Taxi, also highly recommend Elie’s services) from Byblos who told us it’s the cleanest, tastiest, and best value for money — and he was absolutely right.
The food was excellent and incredibly affordable compared to most places in Lebanon. We ordered grilled shrimp, batata harra (spicy potatoes with coriander and garlic), calamari provençal, plus a tajine and shrimp provençal to go. With two soft drinks, the whole meal was under $70 for five dishes — which is amazing for the quality and quantity. On top of that, they spoiled us with a generous complimentary dessert: a huge plate of fruits, biscuits with raha (rose water loukoum), and two coffees. Even though we were full, they insisted we enjoy it because, as they said, “it would make them happy” — such a beautiful gesture.
The service was impeccable. Jaafar, one of the waiters, truly stood out. He was so attentive, kind, always smiling, and he went above and beyond. He even helped us prepare the shrimp by hand since they still had the shells and tails — something I’ve never seen a waiter do before. He’s honestly a hidden gem within the restaurant itself.
This place ended up being a highlight of our Byblos trip, and we’re already planning to return next year. I’ve recommended it to my family and friends, and my parents loved it so much they went the following weekend.
If you’re in Byblos and want an authentic, delicious, and affordable seafood experience with unbeatable views and warm hospitality, I can’t recommend Emm Georges enough.
