We had a very disappointing experience staying here, and unfortunately it really affected our time in Kuala Lumpur. Honestly, I wish I had never booked this apartment and had looked more carefully through the other reviews on Airbnb.
The main issue was that the bedroom air conditioner didn’t work in the Kuala Lumpur heat. Communication was slow and always through a support service, not a direct host, so replies took hours and we never got clear answers. After three days and two nights without aircon, a technician finally confirmed it was beyond repair and we were given only a fan. Another property was eventually offered, but it was 6 p.m., raining heavily, traffic was terrible, and we had our 11-month-old baby with us, so moving wasn’t an option.
On our fourth day, the fire alarm suddenly went off. I grabbed my 11-month-old and ran down 27 floors because the elevators were shut off for safety. My baby was terrified and crying, and when we finally got to the bottom, security told us it was just an alarm test. All owners had been notified in advance, but we as guests were never told. It caused so much unnecessary fear and stress.
Cleanliness was another serious issue: mold and cockroaches in the bathroom, dirty washing machine and dryer (with lint, rubbish, and even a cigarette lighter inside), sticky glass stains on furniture, and strange brown marks on doors and walls. The washing machine broke and flooded the floor during our stay, and the sofa was broken and unusable. Even small details like the bathroom mirror being installed far too low showed a lack of care.
To be fair, the location near the Twin Towers, a supermarket downstairs, and a baby chair in the apartment were positives. But overall, these did not outweigh the negatives. I attached photos to my complaints as evidence, and while we did receive a 30% refund, it didn’t make up for the stress or discomfort. I would not stay here again and strongly caution others before booking.
