Wyndham Garden Fort Walton Beach - Destin Hotel, FL

The beach and beautiful views from the room balcony is well worth the price of admission. The rooms are fine and clean, the public areas are also great. The location is perfect, it's just a short drive from the major tourist areas. My only complaint at all is the lack of EV charging. I'd recommend this place to anyone and will be returning!

We had a truly memorable stay at this hotel, and one of the biggest highlights was the breathtaking view—it was absolutely stunning and made our time here even more special. Whether it was watching the sunrise or simply enjoying the scenery throughout the day, the view alone made this stay worthwhile. Our room was a bit outdated in terms of furniture and decor, but it was clean and comfortable, which mattered most to us. Despite the slightly older feel, everything functioned well, and we had no major issues. We stayed in Building D, and the only real downside was the unpleasant smell in the hallway right after exiting the elevator. It was quite noticeable every time we passed through, and we hope the management can address this with better ventilation or cleaning. Another thing to note is that the hotel provides pool towels, but not beach towels—so if you’re planning to head to the beach, make sure to bring your own. Also, if you’re interested in renting beach chairs and an umbrella, be aware that this service is offered through a third-party company, not the hotel itself. The cost was $48.15 per day (tax included) for two lounge chairs and one umbrella. Aside from these minor issues, we were very satisfied with our experience and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The staff was polite, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the location was excellent for a relaxing getaway. I had read a few reviews mentioning cockroaches, and I did spot one during our stay—but only on the balcony, not inside the room. Honestly, considering the warm climate and proximity to nature, that’s not unexpected. Just be sure to keep your balcony doors or windows closed at night, and you should be fine. In short, if you’re looking for a hotel with a fantastic view, a relaxing vibe, and a great location, this is a solid choice. We’d be happy to return in the future.

The ocean view was amazing! My boyfriend and I loved the view and the balcony. The only problem with the balcony was that someone was smoking a cigar at the pool, and the bad smell rose to the 5th floor balcony where I was trying to enjoy the ocean view. I had to go back inside of the room because of the nasty cigar smell. The reason for the 1 star is because the room had roaches and there was a dead flea on the bar of soap! The room itself was nice, but our room was by the stairway and people would slam the door going down the steps which kept me awake. Also, the a/c was loud which wasn't good for sleeping either. I could hear the shower going in other rooms, better sound proofing could cut down on the noise. The hotel charges $10 a night to park, even though we were guests. I asked about the charge and was told that it was just the owner charging to park. The owner squeezing every penny they can from the guests. $10 charge for parking even on checkout day! Could have given a discount since we weren't going to be there after 11am, but still charged the full day for parking. The room charge was discounted on the last day, parking should have been discounted too, since we didn't use the whole day of parking.

DO NOT STAY HERE. GERMAN COCKROACHES. My mother and i check in on November 9th, for a stay through November 12th. It was suppose to be a nice getaway. Everything was fine until the night of the 10th. While my mother was in the bathroom i saw GIANT roach climb ontop the vanity of the sink. I promptly killed it and brushed it off as a one off as we're from new orleans and know in cold weather they sometimes come out. Unfortunately it was not the case. The following night after eating our dinner, i noticed movement underneath the sink vanity where the trashcan was. To my horror there were atleast 15 baby german cockroaches crawling on the floor around our trashcan. I told my mother about it, she proceeds to go kill several of them. As she walks back to her bed, 2 larger ones arise from behind the tv. Yall im tellin you im not makin this up. At this point i'm thinking the worst having stayed there for several days at this point. We need to leave, NOW. I head to the lobby after packing all of our luggage and tell the person on shift about the problem. I am told the management will take care of everything and was promptly explained to how the person on shift did not have the ability to refund us, and that the manager would issue a full refund. They did not look nor sound surprised about the roach pictures which was a bit disturbing. I proceed to drive home with my mother in the vehicle, and it's 4 1/2 hrs to new orleans. We arrive arround 5-6 am and go to sleep. I wake up the next day November 13, and call the hotel. Manager is not in, call tomorrow. November 14, Call the hotel again. Manager is in, but in a meeting. I say thats fine i would appreciate if they gave me a call back. I give the person on the phone my Name and number for a callback and never receive anything. Same day i call back around 3-4pm, and am told the manager is not in, but they are not able to issue a refund because i had booked with expedia. Next day November 15th in the morning i call expedia and start the refund process. I am told by expedia after an hour on the phone that they need to reach out to the hotel to confirm the refund. The agent calls while i am on hold, and doesnt recieve an answer. He says that they will escalate the situation and their team will reach out to the hotel in the morning. November 16th, Refund declined notification. I contact expedia and they said their team had got in contact with management at the hotel, and the management had declined their request for refund. I Type ALL OF THIS to say, PLEASE. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUISENESS. This whole situation was such an incredible head ache, that i will most likely never book with this hotel chain again in my life. My mother and i went in November during an off time, unfortunately while there was a cold front, and this is what we experienced. DO NOT have your summer vacation ruined by roaches and terrible customer service.

Five stars everytime. I have came here since I was 16 with my dad and siblings and I am 26 now. Every year this stay gets better and better. We enjoyed our newly renovated suite & ocean views are killer. The staff is so friendly and constantly taking care of the property. We had a crib brought to room and my daughter slept hard every night. The amenities & pools were clean & the new grill and bar was such a vibe. Food always amazing by the pool, the lobby and hotel amenities always stocked & ready. Laundry was helpful & room was cleaned everyday of our stay. We have came here for years and will be back every year from Texas to stay here.
