Reading the letter from his mother, I was deeply moved and realized once again how much a mother cares for her child.
Great place to learn a lot of history. Please do visit like I did and you will have a great time learning also .Thank you so much
I visited the Noguchi Hideyo Memorial Museum while I was near Lake Inawashiro, and it was an unexpected delight. I was amazed that the actual house where Hideyo Noguchi grew up has been preserved exactly as it was. Learning about his legendary achievements once again left me in awe of his contributions to medical science. Although the admission fee was a bit high at 1200 yen, I did not have high expectations initially, but I’m really glad I took the time to visit. The museum offers a meaningful experience that honors his legacy beautifully.
A truly interesting and informative experience. Offers information in both Japanese and English languages. Also has audio information available via a free wifi system with English instructions on how to join. There are some children activities but those are only available in Japanese. The museum is a must see for anybody interested in medicine and medical history. It is however interesting for all people. There is wheelchair access to all parts (elevators available for the upstairs section), clean toilets and nursing area. Great for solo, family or friends visits.
Insightful place, if you want to be motivated to do something good for mankind. Hideyo Noguchi was a Bacteriologist, who started early research into Yellow Fever. His hometown is Inawashiro and the museum houses his original birthplace. Inawashiro is a very beautiful town with great mountains and amazing greens. Great place to visit when in Japan.
Hideyo Noguchi is was a prominent Japanese bacteriologist who discovered the agent of syphilis as the cause of progressive paralytic disease. I visited this place during the COVID-19 pandemic and was struck by how serious, enormous, and important his work was. Here is the house where Hideyo Noguchi grew up. At the second floor upstairs you can even meet and talk to him!
It's important place to visit if you wish to come to Aizu area. Because Dr. Noguchi is the person we can see on the 1000 yen bill. We can learn about his life from this museum.

Awesome pitstop with super clean facilities and amazing views. We had breakfast here but not the best food options. The public toilets are the biggest selling point here.
it's a very large resting area and with a lot of local foods to buy! food (food and more food), drinks, small gift & accessories, hand crafts, etc., the family must get something that want. however the cashier is very ineffective. it's very slow and always a big long queue there; then while the queue blocks the shopping area and the main walking path, then made the place unpleasant to shop at. more travel ideas, photos & videos👇🏾 follow me on ig: food.n.cats.not1less
Visited here early in the morning. It wasn’t open yet. The parking area is big. The bathrooms are very clean. There is family toilet as well. Mt. Bandai view was great.
⛰️ Escape to Michi-no-Eki Inawashiro, nestled between Bandai Mountain & Lake Inawashiro 🍴 Enjoy wood-fired pizza, hand-cut soba, local rice and soba flour dishes, plus exclusive treats like Bandai golden natto and freshly made dorayaki. With abundant parking and modern facilities, it’s the perfect rest stop on your road trip! #MichiNoEkiInawashiro #AizuEats #TohokuRoadTrip #BandaiViews #LakeInawashiro #JRoadStation
Free dog-run on the premises. Dog-run is separated for small and mid-large dogs. Not really big considering the open area but clean and well maintained 🐶 It's a pity no restaurant or shop allows dogs to enter though.. If you come from the highway's Inawashiro IC you can get back to the highway with no additional fee within 3hours.
Typical roadside stop in Japan. Large choice of fast meals, drinks and small souvenirs. Lunch was very tasty and arrived quickly.
The store is so huge . And there are many stuff and something to eat . If you have opportunities to drop by the store , you have better buy for present to kind friends and family.
Local products service area. Good selection.

Really lovely little valley with a river winding through. Based on pictures, it seems like it would be lovely in autumn, but late summer was gorgeous too! The current is quite strong, so you shouldn’t swim, but it feels nice to put your feet in the cold water and relax for a few minutes. Be aware that it's about a 10 minute walk from the rest house and most of that is stairs. So coming back up will be quite the leg/lung workout. Be especially careful on the last few steps and the rocks when you get down to the river.
Not a walk in the park to get down to the valley. The last stretch to the river was challenging and needed caution. Otherwise, we seem to be late in catching the fall colours.
Great if you want a little river gorge mostly to yourself - not too many folks come all the way out here and it's very pretty. Lots of wildlife, though, so look out for bears and Japanese murder hornets.
Amazing View of Foliage
(Translated by Google) During the autumn foliage season, it's a wonderful place to enjoy the magnificent scenery. This time, we walked up to the scenic spot of Shiraname Hachijo. (Please note that you must bring along stream walking equipment when walking in the stream.) The water was very clear, the scenery of the valley was beautiful, and it was relatively safe to walk up to Shiraname Hachijo. Along the way, we caught a toad, saw many tadpoles, and even saw some red dragonflies, so we enjoyed a summer day out. There is a rest house, toilets, and a large parking lot, so it was a very convenient place to use.
Visited on 6th November. The peak was past. Leaves started falling but the colours were still stunning. Parking lot was available 0.5km away from the observation bridge.
(Translated by Google) The autumn leaves were in full bloom and it was a beautiful, spectacular sight. First of all, I was impressed by the magnificent autumn leaves when I looked from the bridge. Then, when I entered the walking path, I was in a forest of autumn leaves and it was like another world. When I went down to the river, the contrast between the stream and the autumn leaves was refreshing. I've seen a lot of autumn leaves before, but this was the best. It was so beautiful, you had loads of options from gifts, to jewelry, vases, statues, decorations cheap or expensive you will find it here. I was even able to see a glass crafter at work.
Gorgeous place. Must visit if you are in the area
My dear husband, Your wife will enjoy here not you, so take her and give her some money
This glass museum and shop is very impressive. They offer glass from Japan but also have a lot of stock from all around the world. The chandeliers in the main hall are something else, massive and made from glass so I wonder who would have a house that is big enough to fit them. We come here whenever we are in town, always worth while a visit and sometimes we add a sake glass or something else to our collection.
Fantastic glassware at reasonable prices. Some famous and local ware for both collectors and everyday use. Worth the visit, if just to browse.
Lots of lovely glassware. Not enough local stuff, though, and not all of it is labelled as local.
One of the best places in Japan to buy any kind of glassware. A lot of variety and excellent service.

Perfect location for gorgeous views, hot spring is also included and opens from 0500 to 2400, so it’s perfect for going there anytime. Plus there’s a skiing area right next to the hotel, so it’s a perfect place to enjoy a skiing vacation.
Cheating ...... The hotel arrange a super low floor for us which is just the root top of the 2nd floor(see photo) and surcharge us 3000 yen to move up 10 floor. It is assumed that this hotel always use this method to gain money from foriegn tourist coz logging compliant in Japan is very diffcult. Air conditioner is very old which is just up to normal temperature after a long run. Blanket is very smelly which you can't cover over night.... The management office is not focuing on improving service standard to earn money but cheating instead....one of the poorest hotel for us since we have lived in over 100 hotel in Japan......Not zero mark but negative mark
I don't know where to begin for this review. I was very disappointed with Hotel Listel mostly and Hotels.com. This trip required pet to travel and that is what was searched, pet friendly accompany lodge. Although pet accommodating not a pet friendly establishment. Once I was informed how pets had to be put up in a separate area with no supervisor my trip was now a babysitting trip and I was ready to leave as soon as I checked in. The "pet hotel" area was very dirty, had a strong smoker's oder that made it hard to breathe, and dirty and the locks did not work as my pets were out of their cage in the morning, extremely dangerous. Another dangerous area is the steps for the small pets outside next to the pet area, they are ment for snow and not pet which blew my mind. The outside is exactly what you would expect and a little more since the location is beautiful. The main floor is truly the only floor that looks the part of the internet pics. The rest of the hotel is a pay to play for anything i.e., pool, bathing, gym, etc... The hallway need an update as the decor is in bad shape and linger with cigarette smoke. The rooms were some of the worst for the price, as I have been to over 20 different locations throught Japan this year from cheap to expensive and this was extremely expensive for what is charged and not worth it. Hotel Listel Inawashiro need to drop the price by 20000 yen or a major renovation. The onsens are also in need of some upkeep they are large but very little change in the temps if any on the three baths and very limited. I only visited the one inside one and not the outside one but for the type of resort and price need some major renovation. I landed up leaving the day prior and was not accommodate for the extra that I paid for, day, breakfast, and landed pay 17000 yen more even for the onsen that wasnt used. As I mentioned earlier in my post and I could go into great details but just wanted to summarize the worst experience for a pet friendly, customer service support resort.
Had a very memorable visit with my family last April 2023. Super clean rooms, comfy beds, and that spectacular view of the lake is very special. The breakfast buffet had quite a selection! Indoor onsen is very nice. The views of the outdoor onsen was quite an experience. Perfect base for enjoying the cherry blossoms of the Kannonji River. Highly recommended indeed. ♥️
Service is outstanding! We're travelling Australians, and the team here do everything they can to assist, including support with booking restaurants. Special mention to A. Hata on the front desk.....amazing!!! The location is great, a quick drive to town and nearby resorts. Onsen is excellent and a must on your visit. Rooms are a little dated but very clean, comfortable, and large in size. Would definitely come back here again.
Great hotel. Fantastic amenities. Location is good for the Aizu ski hills. Special shoutout to front desk staff member A. Hata for her help with booking dinners in Inawashiro for our whole week!
This place gets 5 stars from me because all my expectations were exceeded. The onsen was hot and the water quality was nice, leaving my skin soft and smooth. The breakfast buffet was much better than I expected, considering what we paid for the room. Seems like there is a lot to do here too. A couple different Onsens, an indoor and outdoor pool, a ski lift out back to the top of a mountain, and it looks like they gad something in the tree tops too, maybe a ropeway or zipline or something. Didn't have time to check it out. Stop here, its worth it! I'll be back!
Didn't stop over, just went to the hot spring. There's a small ski slope at the back of the hotel. So you can ski/sbowboard directly from the entrance. If you have swimwear, there is an area with various pools, jacuzzi, and sauna, huge windows that look out to the ski slope. The hot spring (indoor) just one average big hot spring pool area, no sauna though. The door from the indoor to the outdoor hot spring area was closed (from Dec to Mar) but we found out that the outdoor hotspring is open, but you get to it from a different entrance (which means getting dressed to go from one to the other). The day we went, there was a bit of a snowstorm so apparently the outdoor one was a bit cold!! There's also a decent shopping area for souvenirs and a place to sit and relax overlooking the pool area. This place is super close to a famous cherry viewing area (Kannonjigawa) and a step away from Listel herb garden. Close to Inawashiro lake so I'm sure there's a nice viee from the hotel rooms!

A wonderful little location with the essence of Japanese beauty. Recently undergoing landslide restoration so check their website before visiting just in case. Be respectful to the location and please do not be too loud.
We visited Tatsusawa Fudo Waterfall 03 weeks ago as a couple, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The walk through the peaceful forest was refreshing, and when we reached the waterfall, it felt like discovering a hidden gem. The sound of the water and the cool, misty air created such a calming atmosphere. It’s not overly crowded, which made the experience even more special - just nature at its purest. The area is well-maintained, and the trail is easy to follow. We took our time soaking in the beauty and snapping photos. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic spot in Fukushima, this place is a must. We’d love to come back in autumn.
This was a beautiful waterfall to visit. We stopped during a road trip as a spot to just get out of the car and move around a bit. The falls are a very short walk from the parking lot-maybe 15 minutes. There is a beautifully maintained path to follow. It is alongside water so that was nice to listen to as we walked. There is a shrine just before the water fall. The path leading down to the water is closed off. There were portapotty toilets on site that were very clean. Free parking.
Beautiful and peaceful, especially when it was raining. However, felt a bit scared (of bears) since there was no body else there when I visited.
What a lovely place specially in Winterland ❤️ 2 parking space & then walking is almost 5 mins, Avoid late evening & early morning due to wild animals nearby 😣
Beautiful falls with easy accesss. Enough parking spaces.
It's only a quick trip. A ten minute walk on a fairly wide nature path, that runs alongside a large stream, leading to the waterfall. Part of the viewing platform is cordoned off but you can still can a lovely view of the falls. You pass through the hot spring area of Nakanozawa to get there.
