Path to church is an experience. We had a chance to travel with a tour guide. Makes the experience even more fulfilling. Definitely recommend to experience with a guide but do your own reading or research and ask lot of questions.
A very serene place, has alot of cobble stones so you need good shoes.A historical place but information only in the Russian language. The church is worth visiting
Cathedral of Saint Trinity was built in 1682-1699. It was the fifth church at that place in Kremlin of Pskov. First church existed here already in X century. Existing Kremlin of Pskov was built between 1337 and 1424. Although first Fortress existed here already in IX century. Admission to Kremlin is free but you will have to buy a ticket is if you are going to visit the museum. Highly recommended for yours visit. This is splendid monument of Russian medieval culture and architecture.
Excellent cathedral.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, I couldn't appreciate the full beauty of this cathedral, as the building is completely covered in scaffolding and fenced off. But the Kremlin grounds are beautiful.
(Translated by Google) The cathedral was built in 1682-1699 and is the main building of the Kremlin. This is the fourth building of the cathedral, built on the site of earlier buildings of the X-XIV centuries. It is famous for its iconostasis, one of the tallest in Russia - the 42-meter iconostasis contains 7 rows of icons. The cathedral contains an icon dedicated to the defense of Pskov from the troops of Stefan Batory in 1581 and returned by Germany in 2001, a silver shrine with the relics of three Pskov saints who saved the city from the wrath of Ivan the Terrible. In 1935 it was closed and used as an anti-religious museum. Worship services were resumed during the German occupation and have not been suspended since then.
(Translated by Google) The cathedral was built in 1699. As the guide said, it has one of the largest iconostases in Russia. I think it has 7 rows. There is a similarly large one in Ryazan and somewhere else. The iconostasis was made by icon painters from the Moscow Armory. The cathedral contains an icon dedicated to the defense of Pskov from the troops of Stefan Batory in 1581. The famous icon was returned to us by the Germans in 2001. There are supports around the building to ensure the stability of the temple. They promise to close it for restoration.

Amaszing collections of ancient orthodox icons.
(Translated by Google) The museum is located in historical chambers of the 17th century. Interesting exhibits, unusual icons, frames, church utensils. There are even icons of St. Christopher the Pseglavets. A good collection of precious parts of princely attire, jewelry, jewelry, numismatics. A wonderful art gallery. In a separate building there is an exhibition telling about the former owner of the chambers, the largest Pskov merchant S.I. Pogankin. И.
(Translated by Google) Dear employees of the Pskov Museum-Reserve "Pogankiny Palaty". International Museum Day is celebrated in May. Museums play an important role in people's lives. Thanks to the coordinated work of many specialists and professionals in your field, the younger generation gets acquainted with the history, way of life and tastes of their ancestors. Thank you for your efforts in your field! I would like to tell you about a book that tells the life of mankind from the very beginning, this is the Bible. Existing museums prove the truth of its words. The author himself - God - tells us: "Already at the very beginning I tell about what will be in the end, Since ancient times - about what has not yet happened. I say: "My plan will be fulfilled, And I will do everything that pleases me." We wish you health and further success in your work. Grateful Pskovites.

(Translated by Google) The museum is about nothing; in the eyes of the average person, it is an incomprehensible collection of objects from the past. Four bells, and they promise you a whole museum of bells, but in the private museum of Yaroslavl there are more than 20 of them, but here four are already an event. Museum of the Pskov Archaeological Society, please explain where I can get information about yours. society. It is worth noting how many caretakers there are, there are more of them than there are bells. And they follow you everywhere. (Translated by Google) The goal is to see the Pogankin Chambers themselves, what this preserved and restored building looks like from the inside. And, rather as a bonus, these are two exhibitions. These expositions change, so I won’t dive into what we found. In general, the time for inspection will be around 20-40 minutes, depending on your interest. Probably what I would like to draw attention to is the different levels of the caretakers: Some constantly pulled back (yes, a child of 4.5 is interested in his surroundings within the limits of what is permitted, he does not touch the paintings with his hands, but he can run through the gallery and sing something at the same time), and some - then he told me something interesting about the theme of the exhibition. In general, the inspired expectation was spoiled by the twitches. It’s interesting to look at the Chambers, but I would like to bring the caretakers to a common denominator: a museum is not a library, the exhibits and what they see provoke discussion, and walking in silence just because the caretaker is tired - you know..
(Translated by Google) We were with a child who was tired from the road, I’ll tell you straight away, I’m not a connoisseur of painting at all, but we ended up at the exhibition :) Of course, the exhibitions are interesting and, considering that epics are scheduled for the summer, the building itself is interesting. Although, frankly, it’s very uninformative .Three halls (rooms) from a huge building. We expected to go through, if not all, then at least most of it. We are perhaps disappointed with this. There is almost nothing about the chambers themselves, I would like more information and exhibitions about the time of construction, to learn more about the household and lifestyle. Although, the exhibition brightened up this trouble a little, of course. I have no desire to visit a second time. I’ll add a photo, in case this becomes a decisive factor for you in making a decision.

Cool and quiet place. It's the best place in Pskov to have a rest.
Monastery was founded in beginning of XII century. It's Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Savior was built in 1125-1150. This cathedral is full of splendid frescoes painted unknown Byzantine masters in second half of XII century. New Church of Mirozhsky Monastery was built in second half of XVII century. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light and tripod.
Cathedral and internal fresco painting - 12 century
Actually, the second most famous and important sight of the city.
Wonderful wall frescoes
(Translated by Google) Gray, rainy day. We first walked along the embankment of the Velikaya River opposite the Monastery, and then crossed the river... The territory is heavily overgrown with trees and bushes, and what’s more, everything is under renovation: the buildings are in forests, the Church of Archdeacon Stephen is covered in forests from top to bottom, and there are also forests in the interiors. Some building materials are stored all over the territory... August 19 is a holiday. There are a lot of people both on the territory and in the church. The service is conducted by Metropolitan Matthew of Pskov and Porkhov. The church is very crowded and the forests greatly aggravate this crowding. The Transfiguration Cathedral is closed. It seems like they touched on history, but somehow everything is crumpled... We visited 12 monasteries this summer and everywhere there were renovations, renovations, renovations... However, this is probably good?
(Translated by Google) The leitmotif of the frescoes is the theme of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Its theological and liturgical content was extremely relevant for the middle of the 12th century, becoming the subject of heated dogmatic debate at the Councils of Constantinople in 1156/57 and 1167/68, and the Transfiguration Cathedral is one of the first monuments where new doctrinal dogmas were expressed in visible images.
(Translated by Google) Well, it didn’t work out, it didn’t work out that way. We barely found the entrance, we didn’t enter from the side of the road, we reached the entrance to the buildings, and they told us: “Go back to the road and buy a ticket for 500 rubles.” Get hurt. Money, again the monastery and money. We didn’t go anywhere, we decided to see what was there. The church shop is closed, candles cannot be bought - the grandmother is taking care of those excursionists who brought money. On the second floor there is a completely sad temple. Overall I didn't like it at all (Original) And on the red pedestal is another princess. Do you feel the sculptor's hand? The truly omnipresent Tseriteli. Pskov residents say that initially the monument depicted Queen Tamara (the warlike appearance is the clearest confirmation of this). But the customer refused to accept the queen, and the cunning sculptor corrected something, and here you are, Pskovites, as a gift, not a queen, but a princess))) (Original)
