Bodies of Water
Lake George is a town in New York’s vast, protected Adirondack region of mountains and old-growth forest. The town sits on the lake of the same name. On the shore, the Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration is a restored British fort, built in 1755. Nearby, Million Dollar Beach has picnic areas and a boat launch. The Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway offers views of the lake and the Adirondack High Peaks.

You honestly can’t beat the view from Prospect Mountain- absolutely breathtaking. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and just take it all in. Feels so raw, untouched, and peaceful. Whether you hike or drive up, the reward at the top is the same: pure beauty. A must-visit if you’re in the area!
It was a sudden decision to go on a trip to Lake George, but before that, we thought of visiting Prospect Mountain. With that instant decision, the journey began. It was a fairly long drive, and as we drove up the mountain, the beauty of the hills kept captivating us more and more. Surrounded by enchanting scenery, the higher we climbed the towering mountain, the stronger the feeling of joy became. On that sunny afternoon, looking down at the lake from such a height felt truly magical. The speedboats gliding across the water looked like white swans, and the interplay of sunlight and clouds created a fascinating dance of light and shadow. It felt as though we were wandering in some fairytale kingdom. If possible, I would have loved to stay there the entire day, immersed in that breathtaking beauty.
Breathing taking view of beautiful lake George and Adirondack mountain ranges. It’s one of the best places to visit fall colors too. You can hike upto the summit and it’s accessible via car too. There is no parking at the summit, it’s just a pick up and drop off point. However, the parking lot is 10 mins hike , but it’s a steep slope, won’t advise for someone with knee issues. There are benches and shed at top for a good picnic. A must visit place if you are visiting Lake George.
The view is beautiful, worth the time. The trail is 2-3 miles long but there is a road for people that simply don't want to take the trail route. There are 4 overlooks for cars and a parking on the fourth included on entrance (10$). There when you park it is clear where to go to the fifth outlook easily being the best one. There are some trees here and there blocking the view but there are easy go arounds for that making it a must see attraction when visiting Lake George.
Beautiful views and easy to do a quick 19 minute climb if you park on the third stop (parking lot)
Beautiful view. Extremely difficult hike from the parking area to the summit
Such a beautiful and historical place. Clean air, clean water, kind people
Worth the hike up, but you can also drive up on the Prospect mountain memorial highway, though that costs money & they don't honor the NYS parks pass (which is ridiculous). Anyway, good spots to view the surrounding countryside & have a picnic at the picnic tables, they even have outhouses up there. Please remember to carry out what you bring in 🙂

It was a great recreation of the original fort. It has a lot of great exhibits. Living historians there to give you demonstrations and information. Very great detail throughout the entire fort. Explaining living conditions, hospital care, and the different jobs others would complete throughout their time there.
Drop into and experience 1755. The Tour Guides are very knowledgeable and have a good wit. For accessibility there are some areas that are difficult to traverse and some buildings that have stairs only access. I did not feel as though I missed out on anything during my visit. They do have a staff operated outdoor elevator so those in wheelchairs can access the fort walls. You're ticket is good for 2 days so you have plenty of time to explore.
One of the best forts I have ever been to. Just visited this place as a spur of the moment visit while traveling through back home from Maine to Ohio. This place does not disappoint. The guides who also do reenactments and demonstrations were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Would love to go back someday.
Really enjoyed our time there. The tour was really interesting and we loved the musket and cannon demos. Very unique. We went in Oct and the backdrop of the fall leaves… it was breathtaking. Highly recommend.
We did the haunted tour. Very informative. The guides were great, funny, and told spooky stories. They even gave the option to be in the basement with the lights out. Definitely recommend if you're into history and/or the paranormal!
What a wonderful experience! All ages in our group of 6 and we loved it here. From the stories told on the guided tour to the cannon demonstration. I could not find one thing to say wrong about this place. We learned so much as well. Also if you are a fan of the last of the mohcans you would also be a fan of this stop on you trip to the lake or village.
I love old forts and historical places this is one. Nice quiet day good staff good service great time beautiful location great view a little pricey but I loved it old style dress and reenactment history tours lots of information on the time period and fort history and friendly staff good verity of historical artifacts and with fort ticonderoga north of lake George
If you enjoy American History and/or the story (&movie), Last of the Mohegans, put this on your To Do list. Our guide was engaging and fun. He and his Captain were very informative. This is the fort from the book/movie. Purely historical. No elevators. When we went, the buildings were so hot. (No ac in 1755).

Love this winery! So many amazing wines, I’m not into dry wines but the ones I tried were incredible. Everyone was super helpful, we had Ben mostly helping us and he was amazing! We bought more bottles than intended just from his tips. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Lake George!
Our server Carm was amazing. She was very knowledgeable of the varieties of wine selections. Her suggestions for my preference of dry wines white/red for my wine tasting experience was on point. Loved all my wines. Definitely will come back again.
Great tasting! Delicious wines...The cost is worth it. Very knowledgeable sales staff. PLEASE get a restroom... personally did not enjoy walking two blocks to find a restroom
Stopped in & was greeted immediately. Very knowledgeable & friendly bar staff who was very helpful in selecting a gift for the holidays. Will be back for a tasting !
Best experience during off season. Young woman was very knowledge of the winery. Make reservation or walk-in. Drinks was amazing and the whisky 🥃.
Adirondack Winery truly made my dad’s birthday so special. This was our second time coming back after a year, and Amber was still here just as hilarious, welcoming, and entertaining as ever. We were helped by Maya and Ben who were wonderful. Maya was sooo helpful helping my extremely indecisive family choosing wines for our flight. We laughed, we ate, and we learned about the wonderful wines the Adirondack Winery offered. Thank you Maya & Amber for the cherry on top of a wonderful weekend in Lake George! We’re so excited to share the multiple bottles we got with friends and family after this trip.
What a great tasting room! The staff was amazing! Zach really knew his product and taught us so much, Paige was so kind and Ben was a good laugh! My husband and I had a great time trying all the wonderful wines! We even got some Bourbon. Try the Peach wine!! Can't wait to go back in Spring!

Retro kiddie park with a train through the forest, storybook displays & various rides & play areas.

Great place to bring younger kids, but not really teens. The rides are made small & very eclectic of the 1950s when this was Magic Forest. The dinosaurs are very cool, they move & roar, even though they blinked too much. The snack bar was reasonably priced compared to many of the other attractions in the area, but again the food is catering to children. There is also an amazing wood sculpture!
We visited Expedition Park on a field trip for my son’s preschool a few weeks ago. It was small for an amusement park but was just the perfect size for our 2.5 year old to explore everything! He loved the toddler friendly rides and we all loved walking through the forest to see the dinosaurs. The little town with the school, firehouse, church, etc. was also adorable and fun to check out. Great for families of young children!
Great Experience at Lake George Expedition Park! We had a wonderful time at Lake George Expedition Park! The Dino Land section was super fun and very kid-friendly, with plenty of rides that are perfect for young children. The realistic dinosaur displays make the park feel natural and immersive. There’s lots of seating, clean restrooms, and nice gift shops to explore. The staff was friendly, and the park was clean and well-maintained throughout. Luckily, all the rides were included in the ticket price, which made the day flow smoothly without extra charges at every corner. They also offer gem mining and magic shows for an additional cost if you’re looking for extra activities. Only downside: the cost of admission—$39.99 per person for ages 2 and up. We paid about $170 for 2 adults and 2 kids (our infant was free). A bit pricey, but overall worth it for a fun and memorable family day. Definitely recommend for a one-time visit—the kids will have a blast!
A nice old fashioned park. Lots of shade, places to sit. A great deal for $40/person- the rides are all free. We were here from 10:30-3pm. Magic show at 11, 1 and 3. Fun for kids probably ages 3-10.
This place is a hidden gem that has all the nostalgia of the days of circuses and steel made amusement rides built to last!! It says small town love of fun written all over each detail from the Hansel and Gretel style buildings to the one man magic show to rides like the scrambler and the whip!! It was our first visit to the magic forest and the roar valley included in ticket no need for bracelets or extra tickets for rides, everything included. We loved the no lines and had some rides to ourselves we even got to ride a couple times in a row. This place has something for everyone young and old!! Parking lot is huge and no fee to park, and they had many different food options as they can with every to kids like. My son is 9 and he loved it here! Westayed for 3.5 hours!! Highly recommend as it’s perfect for families and not the giant place like a six flags much more home feel here.
A good price for 3 year old daughter and almost 4 year old niece. They had a BLAST!!! They loved pretty much every ride. Would definitely recommend it! Not much of a wait, if any for the rides. They enjoyed the Magic show too and the food prices are pretty good! The bathroom had a ramp, but it was a little steep so not sure how someone in a wheelchair would do.
My son is obsessed with dinosaurs . This was a hit for us ,along with the rides ! We go every year. It's a small parks so rides aren't far away from each other but the Dino part is definitely a walk ! We shared French fries that were great ! My son's favorite "ride" was the slide ! I only give it three stars because the ride workers do not seem happy to be there , no smiles at all besides a few .
What an absolutely amazing amusement park! I just spent 5 hours exploring this amazing park with my four and six-year-old today. We did most of the rides, several times over, Dino Roar Valley (which was unbelievable), saw a magic show AND met Santa!!! He has a cute little workshop where we made Christmas ornaments, wrote him a letter and put it Santa mailbox. I was worried that the park wouldn't have a lot of rides or would be too "babyish" for my kids but my worries were put to rest once I pulled into the parking lot. AND what you see from the roads/parking lot is just the tip of the iceberg. This amusement park is under the cover of this amazing forest so you're not walking around in the beating Sun all day, it's cool, comfortable, it was not crowded and my kids were able to go on most of the rides over and over again. Once or twice I had to go on a ride because my daughter is only 40 inches, I believe 48 inches rides without an adult, but there was only two rides out of the 10+ rides that they went on that they need me to go with her . There were some that we didn't even get to! We've been coming to Lake George for 3 years and I can't believe I never knew about this park until now. WE WILL BE BACK again and again and again. The price is $40 per person / child and kids under two are free. They have a Snack Shack with very pleasant employees where you can get popcorn, cotton candy, water, slushies, soda, hot food all for a very very reasonable price. Two kids popcorn, a regular box of popcorn and two large drinks was $12 . The magic show was cute, the magician even called a few of the kids on stage so it made them feel really special. Last but not least, the dinosaurs are not to be missed! it's a bit of a walk down around and back up a path through the forest but just the sight of them with the animatronics was stunning. They even have a little show towards the end of the path that's cute for kids and nice to sit and take a break. It's in an open seating theater outside and they even bring out a "real dinosaur" (Roary). There is a huge parking lot in front with no charge to park, every single employee we came in contact with was helpful and friendly. The park is clean, kept up and you can tell that they care about maintaining the appearance and the rides so they give each guest the best experience. All of these attractions, rides and shows were well worth the $40 per person admission price. Just a wonderful place to spend the day!

Great spot… We came in the beginning of April on a cool overcast day, so it wasn’t exactly beach weather. I’ve been here before and it’s a great spot. Plenty of parking with nice clean facilities and friendly staff. The sand and the views are spectacular… Worth going out of your way for a visit.
We visited million dollar beach and we were overall very happy with the cleanliness of the beach and water. There is a 10 dollar cost to park your car but still worth it. The water is low so it’s enjoyable for people of all ages. The lifeguards can get very annoying with the blowing of the whistles, especially for what seems like Minor offenses, but they are just doing their jobs. Definitely recommend this beach
Imagine you need a calm, peaceful place where only the sound of ocean waves, seagulls, and children’s laughter surround you. Or maybe you’d like to enjoy a small picnic with your friend circle or take a cruise trip. In that case, Million Dollar Beach is a wonderful spot. I didn’t want to return home, it felt like I should stay a little longer, gazing at the friendship of the sky and mountains, mesmerized by the rhythm of the water’s waves.
We had a great time as a family at Lake George's Million Dollar Beach. It's a really nice place to swim, and we felt comfortable with the good lifeguard supervision in the designated swimming areas. We would definitely come back again when we're in the area. We visited on a Monday (8/11) in the middle of the day, and it was quite crowded. My only minor complaint is that there wasn't a lot of space to lay out towels in the sand, especially near the main walkway and closer to the lake. There was more space available on the side of the building, but those areas didn't have lifeguards, which made it a little difficult to find a spot to relax while still being near a supervised swimming area. Despite that, it's a great location that's easy to get to, and the locker rooms and bathrooms were clean. Overall, we had a fantastic day and would recommend it for a fun family beach trip.
Lifeguards are present, but basically unnecessary for actual safety. Just there to enforce the way too many rules. No balls, no floats, no games, no fun. “Swimming” area is WAY too small and shallow. Might be worth it if your kid is 5 or younger. Not for anyone who likes doing more than sunbathing or standing in knee-deep water.
Clean beach & changing rooms, attentive lifeguards and plenty of parking. Skip the snack bar: 56 minute wait in line for a drink
we went end of august. paid $10 to park. nice beach. great views of the lake and mountains. water clear and clean. swimming area roped off and on shallow end only (because it drops off to 30 feet), good for little kids. we walked over to dog beach which allows you to swim out further, but no lifeguard. there’s place to grab snacks. there’s restrooms and outdoor shower/faucet to wash feet.
We were able to enter beach with no parking fee. We lucked out. Beach is closed this past weekend, but a beautiful area to walk around and enjoy Lake George views, & people watch.
