The Franklin Cider Mill is a wonderful experience for a date or a family outing. I loved that the mill was open to see the history of the area and to see where the apples are pressed. The donuts and cider available for purchase are AMAZING! The jazz music and the environment was so welcoming. What an amazing day! 💚
If you want sugar and cinnamon on your donuts you get plain donuts. Would of been nice if asked if we want plain or sugar/cinnamon. I don't get that at any other Cider mill. I haven't been here since 1996.
I've been told for years to try the donuts here as well as the Cider marinated hot dogs and their roasted corn. So, I took a drive. It's a beautiful mill. Beautiful scenery. I went on a Tuesday morning. Parking was plentiful. The donut was small, with a bit of crunch. It's ok. They don't do cinnamon sugar just plain. Though you can buy a packet to shake on. Got a small glass of cider that was yummy. The hot dog was $8 and nothing special. Wasn't worth it. And unfortunately they only have the corn on the weekend. If you're in the area why not stop and walk around. It's a pretty area and they do have carmel apples, spiced nuts, and other treats to try. They also sell honey and apples and such at an outdoor market in the tent.
Great atmosphere. I love being able to see the ducks and other history at this location. The apple bread is phenomenal, donuts have some great crisp to them, and the cider is phenomenal. I love that during the week it still runs like it would on the weekend. They have jams, butter, honey, popcorn, fudge, maple candy, salt water taffy, and mill merchandise. This is my favorite mill. Will order some pie to pick up later!
Beautiful place. Hot donuts and cider were amazing. Not much to do but shop and eat. Had a really good time tho.
I have been going here since I was a young kid with my family as a family tradition and the cider and donuts never change or disappoint. Now I am 50 year old and now take my own family. The kicker is now they have the best roasted corn on the cob this side of the universe. It is awesome. I will be coming back just one day for the corn soon. It is a must.
Great memories and family traditions continue. Hot donuts in donut dust and fresh cider. A local must during the fall season.
Fresh hot donuts and cold, fresh apple cider is the perfect fall treat! So good!

Terrific experience and kind staff. I was a walk-in for the Planetary Parade night ($25) - was able to utilize the telescope despite the long line on a cloudy day. The planetarium show ($5) was funny and informative. The cafe had lots of vegetarian options. The shop was rather small but had lots of unique gifts! Overjoyed that someone in the State was celebrating and encouraging the planetary alignment 🔭🪐💫🌗
Interesting place, but it's pretty small and they charge an entry fee. If you're goal is to see dinosaur skeletons like mine was, best to go elsewhere. They have the T-Rex which is cool, and a deinonychus type dino skeleton. But that's it for dinosaurs. They do have a cool space themed attraction where you can watch a presentation on what constellations will be in the sky on that night, there's a michigan native minerals section, and some Taxidermy animals that are pretty cool too. Lots of stuff intended for children as well. There is also a pretty pricey Cafe, but food is available. We saw plenty of people with young kids that seemed to love it. But if your goal is to see fossils, which is what I came there for, you'll likely be disappointed. For a dinosaur museum I'd recommend you make the trip to the natural history museum at U of M in Ann Arbor. It has an active paleontology lab and many more fossils.
A nice science museum I didn't even know existed a week ago. A friend - a science teacher - was in town and wanted to checked out science museums in the area. Google to the rescue! Not well advertised at the street, and set way back in of the road. There is also an art museum I'll have to return for. The museum staff are very nice, helpful folks, suffering our many questions with a smile and great patience. Initially I wondered about how good the museum would be but as time went on I really enjoyed my visit. The displays aren't vast but they seem well done and cover a wide variety, from culture to evolution to minerals, etc. Well worth the visit.
August 2025- came here with my 3 daughters ages 8-12 on a Sunday. My children loved the planetarium. We viewed the stars. We ordered some food in the cafeteria and it was very good. My children had a good time and they want to come back.
This is one of my favorite museums to frequent. It can be completed fairly quickly. Three hours is typically enough to see a show and all the exhibits. The shows are worth it; the Planetarium, the traveling exhibits, the explore lab in the back, they all have great shows to offer.
I recently discovered this science museum—and to my surprise, I didn’t even know it existed until about a week ago! A friend of mine, who happens to be a science teacher, was visiting from out of town and wanted to explore some science museums in the area. A quick Google search led us here, and I’m so glad it did. The museum isn’t very visible from the main road—it’s set back a bit and not heavily advertised—but it’s definitely worth finding. There’s even an art museum nearby, which I plan to visit next time. From the moment we arrived, the staff made the experience even better. They were incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable, answering our many questions with genuine enthusiasm and smiles. It’s clear they care about both the exhibits and the visitors. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as we walked through the exhibits, I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging and well-presented everything was. The displays aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully curated and cover an impressive range of topics—from cultural artifacts and human evolution to geology and minerals. Overall, it turned out to be a fascinating and enjoyable visit. This museum may be a bit under the radar, but it’s a wonderful spot for anyone interested in science and discovery. I’ll definitely be recommending it—and next time, I’ll make sure to check out the art museum, too!
Gotta say, a tremendous experience despite only being there for a couple hours. My girlfriend and I went to see the Pink Floyd show they do in the Planetarium, and my gosh was it worth the money (though, we did get a discount). Despite the size it seems on the outside, it packs a lot and leaves a lot for you to learn about. Some of the interactive things don't always work, but the majority do, so it's still absolutely worth it to go. The observatory? Man, some of the nicest people you'll meet who will love to talk about their career and what they do. The staff were extremely friendly when we went. I'd highly recommend going on a Friday night with the family or friends. Would happily swing by again for a longer stay or for a different showing event!
Cranbrook is phenomenal. There's nothing else like it around. I've been going to Cranbrook since I was a child. They have a science museum with hands on exhibits for children and adults, an art museum, a planetarium where you can sit and look at all the constellations in the sky as they're being described to you by your host. They have an observatory with a high-powered telescope that can see forever and ever and ever! There's something for everyone. They have live shows, I went to one that had different bat species. Live amphibians and rock geodes the size of boulders, they even have ancient artifacts. The grounds are breathtaking with beautiful fountains. Spend the day there with your family. Hint: if you pack a picnic lunch you can park by the science museum and climb over the 2 ft brick wall, walk down the hill and have a nice picnic by the lake and maybe you'll get to see the swans. The kids will love the dinosaur skeletons! Kids love this place with a wide-eyed curiosity, put your hand on the big brown ball in the science museum and watch your hair stand up.. I can't say enough good things about this place it is unmatched!!! 💖💖💖

This is a very nice theater with a concession stand as well as a full bar in the lounge. We attended a private screening of a new film that was fabulous. The seats were nicely padded and leather that showed some signs of age, but generally still in good condition. The staff did a wonderful job of making the evening very special.
U can't bring in ur own food or drinks however my first experience was absolutely fantastic. We watch the premiere of The Book Club 2 and they went all out. Very nice.
I truly enjoyed the movie and the selection they had at the concession stand. The prices were reasonable.
Went to the SAG/AFTRA screening. It was great coming back together at a nostalgic location. Had some audio technical difficulties but was still a great time.
I had a really enjoyable experience at this theater. The staff were amazing and the food/drinks were awesome. My only complaint is the condition of the seats. When the lights came on and I saw all the seats were peeling off it was shocking. Please reupholster the seats or replace them.
We like the size of this theater and the location is good for us also. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the theater is cleaner than most. Seats are pretty worn out and need replacing. Considering the cost is on par with Emagine and others with premium seating, this needs to be addressed. Concessions and bar is poorly set up. There appears to be a queue upon entry which leads to ticketing. Or is it concessions? Both? No one is quite sure. A third area to the right is clearly a bar, so one would expect to be able to purchase a popcorn and a beer here. WRONG. After waiting 10 minutes, the server (politely) was able to sell popcorn, but directed us to exit the lobby to the left, and go into a restaurant/bar to purchase drinks. NEVER MIND THE BEER AND WINE ON DISPLAY IN THIS AREA. So, a field trip it is. An another wait in another line. Why make it so difficult to take my money?
Wonderful films, many independent films also. There are fun & uniqe events such as Secret Ciema twice a month, Fathom Events & special screenings with speakers. Edison's, inside the Maple theater, has opened. It's a great draw for the theater whether you are seeing a movie or not. Relaxing atmosphere. It's a bar along with quality appetizer type food. Different events happen on certain nights such as live music, trivia night, etc. I highly recommend anyone check it out.
Addendum: I would like to thank the owner for getting back to me on this. The movie we saw was a man called Otto with Tom Hanks and I believe it was in theater 3. I should add that while the seats are worn they were extremely comfortable and none of them were dirty. I would definitely return to this theater again it was cold that night and the auditorium was nice and warm. The audience was older people like me and I think everybody appreciated the ambience.

I came here during a free day and enjoyed the wonderful exhibits they had! The grounds here are beautiful and I definitely recommend going on a sunny day when you can walk around and see the outside artwork but if it’s rainy, the inside exhibits are definitely worth your time! Bringing kids here is also great since they have some fun projects you can do like drawing yourself!
Nice museum in a chill area. Free on Thursdays, which is a plus. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here and get a good feel for it, unless you're into tours or special events.
I had the Perfect Sunday afternoon museum visit! The exhibits were wonderful, and grounds are always stunning! They also had mini golf available in the courtyard. One of my favorite places to visit especially in the fall when the leaves change... really beautiful it's breathtaking! A must see!
We had a WONDERFUL time seeing the Haas Brothers exhibit and the Destroy All Monsters exhibit. The staff are all so kind and knowledgeable. We really liked a few of the older pieces in the lower gallery, as well. There was some confusion and difficulty with getting my wheelchair in, but we were thankfully directed to the barrier free entrance/exit. So, just to note: Park in the full lot to the left, not the parallel handicap spots to the right that go into the main entrance. Otherwise, a lovely visit!!
Amazing space. Will return just to check out the campus and walk around. Museum worth visiting.
$12 for general admission seemed like too much after walking the museum. Very small, but we enjoyed it. Outside is more interesting with the fountains.
Great museum, awesome exhibits, beautiful grounds, EVERYTHING to love!
Our visit was on a Thursday, and we came to play mini golf. We did tour the museum, too, and really enjoyed it. The grounds were lovely and the architecture was beautiful. The mini golf was a great idea and was very well done. I would definitely return again to see new art/artists and enjoy a few hours here.

A hidden gem that you must see! The grounds are immaculate and filled with so many esthetics of nostalgia and nature. Plan a picnic. Do a photo shoot. Plan an engagement. Or just visit, but there is so much to see and enjoy. Natures beautiful!
Cranbrook Gardens is truly a hidden gem! The grounds are absolutely stunning and so well taken care of. Every corner has something unique to admire whether it’s the colorful flowers in the Sunken Garden, the peaceful Japanese Garden with its bridge and water features, or the sculptures and fountains tucked along the pathways. The gardens are spacious, giving you plenty of room to walk, relax, and enjoy nature without feeling rushed. What I really loved is how calm and serene the atmosphere is. You can hear birds, spot butterflies, and even see turtles by the ponds it feels like stepping into a completely different world away from the city. The history of the place adds an extra charm, especially with the Cranbrook House nearby, which is so elegant and ties the whole setting together. It’s perfect for photography, family outings, or just a quiet walk by yourself. The best part it’s free for self-guided visits, which makes it even more special. Some areas do have uneven paths, so comfortable shoes are a must, but overall it’s an unforgettable experience. I’ll definitely be coming back in different seasons to see how it changes throughout the year!
Place is wonderful for a morning or afternoon walk, very quiet and relaxing. The area includes a museum and a theater and school. The house tour is wonderful and cheap. Best time to visit is around end of summer/ fall when leaves are all changing. Many different themed art parks, one of my favorite is the Japanese art thrm, currently under renovation. Recommended.
Beautiful place to visit! Took my family there for the first time over the weekend and they loved it. So serene and peaceful. Would definitely visit this place again!
The gardens were beautiful! I especially loved the tree we could go inside of. The whole place felt magical. I'd love to tour the house one day.
Such a beautiful place! The guides for the house tour were so nice and helpful. You'd be surprised how much you spend looking at the intricacies of the ceiling in each room. The house is like an art museum of its own. The gardens were gorgeous and well maintained. Several benches for enjoying the view or just taking a break. I'm from GA, now living in MI, so being in the forest with the hills reminded me of home without having to drive out of the way. I like that you can walk to the art museum from here. We plan to go to the gardens again in the future to explore more.
Visiting Cranbrook is one of the most wonderful outings. Its gardens are so beautiful and the house is lovely. Anyone can visit and enjoy a pleasant walk.
Among all the places I’ve explored in Michigan, this one felt magical. The fall colors framed baby photoshoot with such grace that, for a fleeting moment, it felt as though I had stepped into London itself.

My family and I have been members of Oakland Hills Country Club since I was a little girl (a long time ago). The clubhouse is finally almost rebuilt, and it’s just as beautiful, if not more so now than ever before!!!
My experience at OHCC was less than I had hoped it would be. But to be fair, many of the circumstances were beyond the club’s control (weather, new clubhouse construction, and the inattentiveness of our Member host). We played the South Course at historic Oakland Hills. As this was one of the last courses to check off the list in my quest to play the top 10 private golf courses in Michigan, I was extremely excited about the day. However, my experience left me sorely disappointed. The day we played was a dull, foggy, drizzly, autumn morning. No fault of the course, but nonetheless, it did color my experience. The course was beautiful, even in its dreariness, with a view which seemed like from every hole, of where the majestic clubhouse once stood. Now an unsightly view of steel girders and construction cranes. The course was immaculately maintained and surprisingly playable on the front nine, as long as you kept your ball out of the rough. The back nine was much tougher. Not only from the difficulty of the golf course layout, but due to the inattentiveness of my member host. He was texting every few minutes all morning, and was so involved with his phone and trying to maneuver the cart through and into the very precise spots dictated by the course superintendent, that he paid little attention to me, his guest. As we made our way to the tenth tee, He suddenly maneuvered the golf cart in a herk and jerk maneuver which ejected me from the golf cart causing me to barrel roll several times onto and over the cart path, which left me bloody, bruised, and dazed. The Member apologized profusely and helped bandage my bloody elbow. He was genuinely sorry and after I agreed to continue, we rode through the next several holes in an awkward silence. As the Member is an attorney, I could imagine what he was thinking, “don’t admit to anything.” LOL Needless to say, I had no game on the back nine, and did not enjoy nor let alone remember (LOL again) the rest of the course. When we finished, the Member invited us to lunch, which due to clubhouse fire, is in a cold, drafty, temporary tent. The Smash Burger was underwhelming as was the temporary pro shop. A fitting way to end an underwhelming day at OHCC.
Oakland Hills is big....in every sense of the word. It's a big property. It's a big course, with a big challenge. It has big greens with big breaks. It has big bunkers. And it's a big dream to play such a historic and amazing course. The only "big" thing that was missing was the clubhouse. What an absolute tragedy for that incredible clubhouse to burn down. We've all seen pictures of the facility and we've all seen pictures of the fire that burned it down. What a loss. Everything about the course and the experience are world-class. But the missing clubhouse feels like a HUGE part of the experience....or at least....what the experience should be. Obviously, a new clubhouse will be built. But it's so hard (dare I say, impossible) to replace such treasured history. It will no doubt be a wonderful addition overlooking an amazing property. But something has been lost that will forever change the experience. Still, Oakland Hills is worth every effort to get there and walk those big grounds. Just try to avoid the big bunkers...or you'll likely end up with a big score.
Beautiful sounds. Nice, well kept clay tennis courts and excellent food. They also have a large pool and exquisite golf course. They are rebuilding the main club house, after a fire destroyed it a few years ago. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
OMG. Came here to watch a friend pkay in US Junior Amateur. Easily the toughest course I have ever walked. Windy, few trees, heavy rough, skinny fairways and diabolical greens. Pristene conditions for a USGA event. Anyone who loves golf should visit this Donald Ross gem.
THE BEST GOLF COURSE IN EXISTENCE. I am highly disappointed about the conflagration in which destroyed the beloved clubhouse, though it is being rebuilt. COME HERE IF YOU WANT THE BEST GOLFING/CADDYING EXPERIENCE IN THE NATION.
Oakland Hills' leadership and membership made a smart choice by hiring Hanse/Wagner. The course is excellent now. Michiganders should be proud to have a major venue like this in their state.
Iconic course which has hosted nearly every major professional and amateur tournaments. Very challenging tee to green with a few holes where you can exhale. They are renovating the course this year (2019) in the fall.
