This is a really awesome little spot if you love wildlife, conservation or zoos. Plenty to see here...Kangaroos, Dingos, Birds, Reptiles. A lot of the animals are freely roaming around so you get the chance to hand feed some of the critters. Some really talkative birds too which was a lot of fun. I got more out of a Parrot than I have out of my girlfriend in 5 years. You can also buy reptiles and all the gear from here, they have some quite rare species too if it's a hobby of yours. Overall the place isn't one of the most picturesque sanctuaries I've been to however you can tell that the animals are well looked after. The staff are also super friendly and talkative being more than happy to give you more info. You can tell they love what they do. Entry fee is great too at $15 an adult. We spent a couple of hours here and was well worth the detour and time
Fantastic sanctuary that is incredibly cheap and a much quieter, more interactive experience compared to a lot of other zoos/sanctuaries. Great value for money and volunteers are very friendly and are happy to answer questions and pass on knowledge. Animals include kangaroos and wallabies, ducks, peacocks free roaming and bettongs, turtles, emus and dingoes in enclosures. A range of birds in aviaries and beautiful snakes and lizards in the reptile room. Animals are well cared for and volunteers love what they do. Emus are gentle, kangaroos are very friendly, reptiles are easy to handle. Definitely recommend the animal experiences - a dingo encounter is $15 and snake is $10 which is actually great value for money, a fair and heavily discounted rate compared to other overpriced venues. At 2pm the public can help feed the outer sanctuary, which includes getting up close with the most gentle and wonderfully natured emus! Kangaroo food available for purchase at the reception for $3 which is always an enjoyable experience, and they love a nice scratch behind the ear! If you love animals, I highly recommend this facility. I spent hours here by myself and loved every minute of it. Thank you so much to the volunteers for being so wonderful and informative and making this a fantastic experience overall! We appreciate your efforts and hard work in everything that you guys do!
Love this spot! You can tell that the animals are well taken care of & we’re happy to be part of it. A spot to pet kangaroos, admire beautiful birds and there’s even a reptile corner. Not a huge place but it’s more than enough to satisfy our inner kid.
great for the grandkids who got to feed kangaroos. it isn't a huge centre but had a variety of animals. staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a visit!
A extremely affordable, smaller and quiet animal sanctuary that allows you to get up close and personal with the animals. The kids spent ages feeding the kangaroos and wallabies, yet weren’t brave enough to join in the snake or dingo experiences. Big picnic area out the front and a smaller area inside to enjoy drinks and ice-creams. We’ll definitely bring the next set of visiting relatives here.
Really lovely day out, staff were super friendly, Roos were chilling n happy to have us hang with them. Epic for the kids to hold an 8 ft python! Thanks guys..Great work 🙏
It was amazing! It wasn’t crowded, there were lots of different animals, and they all seemed to be well cared for. You can feed kangaroos and interact with the cutest birds. The staff are also so knowledgeable and friendly, which made the experience even better.
A definite go-to The kangaroos and wallabies are a delight to feed. Beautiful birds too.

Had a lovely time at Queen's Park! It's got this great mix of pretty gardens and some really interesting war memorial stuff. The paths are easy to walk on and you can just take your time checking everything out. What I really liked was how they've done the memorial bits - doesn't feel heavy or sad, just respectful, you know? There's heaps of local history scattered around which was pretty cool to read about. Perfect if you want somewhere quiet to chill out or if you're into that sort of historical thing. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area - nice change of pace from the usual touristy spots.
Lovely park with separate rustic picnic tables. Food purchase choices limited, a little pricey and of varied cooked outcome.
Stopped in Maryborough randomly on a drive. We stopped at the shop to get some food and then found this park to sit and eat. Kids ran around, seemed well maintained. Right on the river. Like the musical features there too. Kids loved it. Nice spot.
Fantastic park with a huge open grassland space, several walking tracks and lots of statues commemorating those who fought in the war. Very well maintained area and a beautiful war memorial towards the main road. Lovely views over the river too and beautiful for walking. Dogs are allowed on leash and there were plenty of shaded areas under the trees too. Would highly recommend visiting here for a picnic or a short walk.
This is a must see war memorial. So many details covered with a local flavour.
Beautiful park along the Mary River
Must visit stop and along the Mary River Brilliant and well maintained park. Nice place to sit and enjoy the peacefulness. The War Memorial is really nicely done. Well done Maryorough. A few odd charachters about so recommend you watch out for your family but mostly cler of the park crazies.
I always enjoy a stroll through Queen's Park. Very well maintained. Beautiful historic buildings.

Visited because we were in the area. Had no expectations, but the good women of Maryborough have made a fabulous museum and the writer of Mary Poppins was an extraordinary women. 4 of us stayed for the morning (2 women, 2 men). Lots of variety and loved the 'Mary register'.
Recently renovated. Private ownership. Lift to 1st floor. Lovingly presented. Compact. Sadly no concession entry for single senior.
f you are a war history enthusiast like me, you will be enthralled by the sheer amount and variety, of military memorabilia, on show here. Displays are carefully presented over multiple levels and cover a number of military conflicts and campaigns that we Aussies were involved in over many years and theaters. The staff were full of useful knowledge and welcoming energy, too.
Drove from Brisbane just to see the museum and was not disappointed. Very knowledgeable volunteers. The displays were all well set out and definitely worth the trip. Toilets are available and very clean, overall the museum was well presented.
We visited the Maryborough Military & Colonial Museum on the weekend and were pleasantly surprised to find it almost empty. It appears to be run by volunteers, including a lovely old lady and a man who provided us with a wealth of information about the war exhibits. The museum is definitely worth a visit for history enthusiasts. The volunteers' dedication and the informative experience made our visit memorable and enjoyable.
What a fantastic place to go it's one of the best war memorial places I have seen. So much to see. There is a lady who plays the piano while you walk around she is a volunteer and makes the experience even better. All the volunteers have a huge amount of knowledge ask them a question and they will have the answer 👍🏼
Nice small museam dedicated to the military. Not many people there so you get the museum pretty much to yourself. It doesn't take long to browse through so it is worthwhile to drop by if you're just passing through.
Great place to spend a few hours. Plenty to see and read about. Staff were very helpful.

A Queensland Australia Must Do! Add this to your bucket list, did you know the writer of the Mary Poppins Book was born right here! Learn her story, explore the past and experience Mary Poppins in a whole new way. A great family, bucket list item, day out, road trip item, whatever the reason you should check it out! The only thing I wish I did see was more Mary Poppins themed things in the gift shop. That would truely add to the vibe.
Lovely staff, lovely exhibits, great for kids they can learn so much. Great for kids that like to learn by touch, reading, interactive play, search for the hidden mice and run around. Brought my 14 year old nephew and 5 year old neice they both loved it. Great for all ages.
I found The Story Bank alot more interesting than I thought. Growing up with the Mary Poppins record story sing along book, I had no idea about all the novels. My only problem was my phone went flat so I couldn't use the Barcode reader on others stories, so make sure your phone is charged.
Visiting from the US and the wife wanted to see this place. Loved it. It is not marked as Mary Poppins so you wouldn't even know it was here. Somebody had to tell us. Bad advertising by the city. Great older guy at check-in once you break down that barrier. Loss of information
✨ A Hidden Gem for Curious Minds! ✨ The Story Bank in Maryborough is such a wonderful surprise. It’s highly interactive and engaging for both kids and adults—perfect for families on the road or homeschooling. I learned so much I didn’t know, and the displays make it fun to explore and discover. You can get through in about an hour, but if you love reading and details you could easily spend 2–3 hours here. The effort and attention to detail put into this beautiful space really shows. Staff are warm, welcoming, and make the experience even better. Entry was $35 for the family, which felt like great value for money. I wouldn’t have paid much more given our time constraints, but for what we experienced it was spot on. The gift shop was also reasonably priced with plenty of cute and interesting things to take home. Absolutely worth a stop—educational, inspiring, and full of magic. Shame we couldn't stay for the Mary Poppins festival this weekend Sunday 28th September
Great place to spend a few hours. Plenty of to see and read about the author of Mary Poppins. Staff were very helpful.
It was very interesting to learn about the life of the writer to Mary Poppins and her other books. Worth the visit.
Went with an interstate visitor. If you take a fraser coast local only the visitor pays admission. Was a well set put place and staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Very friendly welcome to this quaint museum showcasing Maryborough's railway history including the manufacture of locos in the area. Hosts were very knowledgeable and more than happy to share this. Also good for information on other things of interest in the area. The entry fee of $2 is well worth the visit. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.
A great experience for the whole family. Affordable and fun, the steam train runs Thursdays and the last weekend of the month. Fun for all ages.
NOTE - CLOSED EVERY FEBRUARY FOR MAINTENENCE. 3 stars for volunteers prompt answering of phone when we turned up for a train ride and found it all closed up. Can't give any more stars because we didn't get to experience the ride or museum. Will probably try again next time we are in the area.
I’m disappointment to be opened on the weekends not on Tuesday for your own convenience.Maryborough get more tourist involve to improve tourism in Queensland open on weekend get people Interstate boost railway interest people will come and improve city economy
Booked a ticket to Brisbane. The staff were great, even when the computer froze. Whole process was quick and easy despite the computer issue.

Did a Ghost Hunt using a variety of tools and had many experiences and interactions. Great times, Thank You
Great knowledge by the person who looks after the building (forgot the official job role haha) and a really lovely building!!
Lovely place. Engaging people, 😊 as elsewhere. Good experience
Interesting display, but I don't know if it's worth $10.
This is a great place to visit with the local pass of the three town attractions for $20 each (adults) the port tastings are great and the easy walk from the military museum and Mary Poppins (both apart of the town pass) makes this a must. Don’t forget to go next door and enjoy a wonderful meal for lunch.
Such a fantastic place with a invaluable step back in time highlighting the history of not only Maryborough but Australia as a fledgling colony. Definitely worth the small entry fee and backed up by the friendly and knowledgeable staff!
