I had the Big Bay Burger: A pound of USDA Choice beef topped with cheese, bacon, sauteed onions, mushrooms and chili. I held off on the chili, but got fries. I had three large raspberry iced teas, my wife had 2 large peach iced iced teas (all those flavored ones are to die for, no cheap watered down stuff and they are cold, not warm iced tea in ice, they are cold in ice.) It was served delightfully by our waitress "Aurelia". She attended to us like family. Everything was cooked to perfection. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. It was pleasant looking out over Kings Bay watching Tarpon and Manatee and the boaters. Everybody was so pleasant. Weekend nights have live music and the place jumps. Check it out sometime. Well we did. We are return customers, and why, because this place is good! This time we brought our Sister-in-Law from NJ. We got there around 11:30am on Veteran's Day and sat outside by the water. And what a beautiful day! Our server was once again Aurelia who is truly a special person. She promptly brought out our drinks and appetizers of fried pickles. They were delicious. We ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi, The Big Bay Burger and the Corned Beef Reuben. All was served promptly and was very delicious. My sister-in-law wanted to eat somewhere that was not a chain, but rather somewhere special. We took her here. She loved it and once again, so did we. This was exactly what she was looking for. I have to give kudos to everyone, from the greeters to the line chefs. They were all polite, professional and prepared. If Sammy (the owner) is there, let him show you his fork bending routine. Thank goodness. I don't think it would have been as enjoyable had it been much hotter outside. It was a decent stop while in Crystal River. The park is small and a back section was under repair. The 2 main attractions were down. The fish bowl area was closed and was the number one thing I wanted to see. Also the star Hippo had passed away. We did get to see the Bald Eagles, a Florida Panther and Manatees. I'm am pretty sure had the Fish bowl attraction been open I would give this place a solid 4⭐and possibly more. Be sure to take the boat ride over taking the tram. It was short but relaxing and you received a little history about the surrounding area. Be aware that this is a small Park and you could probably go thru it in about 2 hours or so.

Panther,a large bird open air sanctuary,endangered wolves are amazing,owls,hawks, alligators but the large areas where you would normally see tons of huge alligators and the otter area are covered with Alot of tiny lil lilly pads hiding anything in those areas . They haven't made it to clean out all that over growth. Thou you can still see one here or there. It's beautiful board walk that you walk in a large circle around the whole park thru amazingly lovely hammocks/ marshes are enough to go do. Highly recommend.

After parking at the visitor center and purchasing your entry in the gift shop, you can either take the tram or boat to the actual preserve, which is around a 10 minute ride. The wildlife was obviously the best part, with lots of native Florida creatures, including shorebirds, bears, panthers, foxes, owls, manatees, reptiles, and more. It was everything I had dreamed it would be. It was awesome! We drove around searching for manatees for a bit and finally got to see a mama and her baby. So cute!! We saw 5 in total. We got to swim with 4 of them. We took the early morning tour. The best time to see manatees is in the winter so it was chilly. I was freezing. The website is a little misleading- it says heated boat. But there isn’t a heating system in the boat. There is one small portable heater. It did work well. And there was hot chocolate. The captain, Moe, and our guide, Steven, were so helpful and did everything they could to warm me up after we went in the water. Steven even gave me his coat. Captain Moe was pouring hot water over my feet. Really above and beyond. I do wish the company provided foot booties. We would have brought our own if we had known they didn’t provide them. Be sure to grab some cute souvenirs in their shop afterwards. Their pics cost $39 after the tour if you don’t bring your own camera.
