They served us quickly and the food followed suit. Tilly our border Collie was totally spoiled with a bowl of water and a sausage chunk, before we had even ordered our own food. While we were there the cafe tables were 80 to 90% occupied, so it is obviously a very popular location, with locals and tourists. My bacon was grey and tasted of nothing but salt; My wife's fry up was similarly unpleasant. All in all very good pub food, a stroll across the road from the harbour and great service with a dog friendly space. Definitely on my list of favourites.

We’ve just returned from our 3rd visit to the town and restaurant. It’s a long journey and honestly the Bangladeshi is the main reason we go. We have been to many curry shops over the years and consider this our favourite. It’s way better (and much cheaper) than some well known Glasgow west end big names we have sampled. Tough place to get to but well worth it if you eat in BOB or takeaway. Not a great eat in experience to be fair although BOB is a bonus but takeaway close to our favourite AirBnB is amazing

The rooms are spacious (they kindly upgraded me from a smaller single room to a larger room), and tastefully decorated. The setting was let down a bit by what felt like cheap bedroom furniture. The bathroom felt brand new and really luxurious too. Windows on two aspects made it feel light and airy, too. There is a guest lounge downstairs and plenty of artefacts and interesting prints and paintings, but the highlight is a beautiful Victorian painted window arrangement in the stairwell. The restaurant is small but felt homely and cosy, even with a big group chattering away.

There’s no way this was all cooked fresh. Another guest commented that their ‘roast beef’ which was from the specials’ could have been a ‘boil in the bag’. My husband had scallops for starters which he enjoyed. I had goats cheese which looked like it had just come out of a packet you could buy at a supermarket and they had attempted to heat it up but it was only mildly heated around the edges. And they had just poured some balsamic vinegar on top. I regretted ordering this. The main course was okay but it’s pretty easy to make ‘hunters chicken’. The vegetables that came with this were tasteless. When you are ordering breakfast make sure you ask for toast. They will give you this automatically. The young gentleman wore jogging bottoms and a casual jumper when serving breakfast and checking us out at the front desk.
