For starter we ordered the Grilled Caesar Salad, we found it to be overcooked, and salty. My main course, Grilled Chicken, a bit dry but of good flavor. My companion ordered the Tomahawk, a good cut, well prepared. We shared the side dishes; Mashed Potatoes, and Plantain with Cheese, both were great choices. We enjoyed those very much. All the dishes had a good presentation. Did not find the items overpriced as stated in other reviews.

Both the beef (a bit overcooked and burnt) and pork (which I never saw one in an Argentina restaurant back in the US or in Buenos Aires) were pretty good, but tasted more akin to a Texas BBQ styled sandwich than what we were used to. Nonetheless, this is a good choice for reasonably priced lunch in Avellanas.

We Googled restaurants nearby and decided to venture out and try La Cabane literally knowing nothing about it. And simply said, what a home run. The owner, Jose is so warm and welcoming, and his food creations are Michelin worthy. Definitely coming back here next season, here’s why: Clean, Safe, Private, great food and personalized service, and a variety of surf breaks within walking distance. This is a no frills surf camp, away from the touristy crowds of Tamarindo. Taoby is a true Renaissance Man and a legit surfer, he will make sure you have a great time regardless of your skill level. This was the best surf week ever. Tao, his wife Ruby, and Andrew were amazing hosts, chefs, surf coaches, and overall good people. Tao built a terrific home with all the amenities anyone could want.
