We were welcomed by a nice woman who let us pick a table and the place looked really nice. Unfortunately a young waiter was serving our table. This young waiter was not interested in customers and was busy on his phone and also leaving the restaurant to the street to have a chat with the owner of a souvenir store on the other side of the street. We ordered tempura rolls with salmon and with shrimps. And the waiter recommended the shrimp crackers and we accepted. When the sushi arrived it looked very promising it was presented in a wooden boat and looked delicious. The first alarm bells went off when we did not get any chopsticks. When we asked for it he looked in a bored way and went to get it. Also the shrimp crackers were not served so we had to ask for it… We tasted the sushi but it was a kind of warm and we found the sushi was fried. We are no experts but we had never eaten this in the Netherlands like this. Anyway we are open for everything and started eating. The taste was not great it was lacking of good flavors. Normally We can easily managed to eat this amount of food but it tasted strange and the pieces were so big that we could not eat it in a decent way. Also the salmon was smelling and was not fresh. We ended up leaving several pieces on ‘the boat’. Not a great success. The almost empty restaurant and lazy waiter did not help also. We will not visit this place again.

We had Spring Rolls, Salt and Pepper Ribs and the BBQ ribs to start. All three were delicious and the flavours were incredible. The BBQ (Capital) Sauce was a real treat, it was home made and is probably the tastiest I have ever had and the flavours of the Salt and Pepper ribs were just as good. The Spring rolls were crispy and not greasy and packed full of vegetables and were delightful. For mains we shared the Lemon Chicken, Beef and Green Pepper in Black Bean Sauce and the Crispy Chilly Beef, again I have to say the Sauces were of a very good quality and not a thick goo made from Sugar and flavourings as can often be the case, all the meat was soft and succulent and fresh with great portions sizes and the rice was also great. I am shocked that some reviews think it's microwaved, microwave rice goes congealed and mushy and this was nothing like that. The prices were not too expensive and we were all stuffed with food left over. The service we received was attentive and they waited a reasonable amount of time before serving the mains after the starters and we didn't feel rushed in any way. All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant if your looking for good tasty Chinese food in a nice setting overlooking the bay. Thank you Pekin Garden, it's just a shame we didn't find this place earlier in our holiday as we would definitely have eaten here more than once.
