We just walked along the promenade to build up an appetite! So four hungry people ordered a crab & lobster sandwich, a seafood bisque with homemade spicy rum infusion, a hamburger and a haddock fish and chips. The bisque was great especially with the spiced rum. And the owner seeing is so taken with it, poured an extra tot off the run first is two taste neat! Very nice! The fish and chips were great as well. The fish was very fresh and the chips were extra crispy. The other set of chips were kind of fat so less crispy and needed ketchup 😁 The other two dishes were good but not as memorable as the bisque and fish. The dishes were large as well and we had to give up on dessert and coffee! Will definitely return, this time with a reservation!

The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable, the staff had a perfect mix of attentiveness without being over burdoning. The food was excellent, portions are substantial and fairly priced. The only thing I was dissapointed about was that it wasn't busier for their sakes because its a deserved little spot. Will defo return, can not wait to try some more of their menu.

On arrival, it was pretty busy and (totally our personal problem) we have a reactive dog. This place had quite a lot of dogs and children so the staff allowed us to stay outside where you’re not normally supposed to be served food. We really appreciated this and it made the world of difference and we really appreciate the staff going out of their way to accommodate us. The menu was classic with a decent range, slightly on the pricier side, however every single thing we ordered was really tasty and the service was great, despite the business, which justified this. I had some small plates which were great, the hot honey chicken wings were a favourite, and the fish and chips was a great portion, as well as the steak which was well cooked with really well cooked, soft but crispy chips. Lovely location for a walk before/after also. Would definitely recommend here, whether it be for a drink or food! And if we lived closer we would definitely return.

In fact it's amazing that such a place exists in this location. We thought the food and the service were both excellent. Especially the Ramen and the Goat Curry. We also had local beer from Conway brewery. They have booths, which I like anyway, but these had a porthole that had a video of the sea which we thought was cool. The Music was really good if a bit too loud. My only criticism is that the table near us had several huge dogs that should not have been allowed inside a restaurant. I was told they don't let them in after six, but even so. There's plenty of tables, but I'd still recommend booking.

The bay is beautiful with a lovely sandy beach. We'll worth a visit to this fabulous part of Anglesey. We will definitely be returning to this lovely bay.

Lovely helpful staff , faultless service and excellent food , which is also excellent value. The menu has great range and includes classics. Came to the Driftwood and the 7 of us were so well treated, staff pushed tables together to accommodate us they couldn’t do more to help. We shall be back here again the same can’t be said for The Standing Stones.

Both times we were greeted by amazing service by Elle, and absolutely incredible food and drink. On my visit here, for a pub to run out of core beers is a no-no in my book. No Guinness, no ale (they initially had a very acceptable ale as a substitute for Guinness, but they ran out of that too!) Really delicious food, would highly recommend. We visited at around 6pm on a Saturday evening, no one else was eating in at the time but they were very busy with delivery orders so we were told there might be a bit of a wait for our mains. There is a car park outside for patrons only. On arriving we had to go to the bar to collect our keys, one is for your room and the other for the front door. So you can come and go as you like. You go back to the foyer and go up a steep set of approximately 15 steps to reach the rooms. On entering the room the first thing I noticed was the musty smell, we opened a window straight away. The room was small and had too much furniture in it. The space either side of the bed was wide enough for a bedside cabinet so felt very cramped. There was a chest of draws and a dressing table and stool. There was no real room for our bags or the dogs bed/ bowl. There was a kettle and cups but I did wash them before I used them as they looked dirty. Every time we moved in the bed you could hear and feel the springs. We were going to spend the evening in the bar but the crowd in there were very noisy/ rowdy so we decided to walk a short distance up the road to The Valley for a couple and spent the evening there. We’d driven over 350 miles to get here and I was tired and was looking forward to a good nights sleep as I had another 2.5 hour drive once I get off at Dublin the next day. I didn’t have a good nights sleep and I’m not looking forward to my drive home. Next trip we are going to stay at The Valley.

On the other hand, the chili and garlic chicken curry was advertised on the menu with no chili symbols, so you'd assume a mild taste with a small kick? It was far far hotter than my 🌶 🌶 curry. Very misleading menu with your symbols. Portion sizes were tiny for the price you pay. See photos. Doesn't fill half a plate. We both left, leaving hungry, which is never a good sign. 2 Adults, 2 kids £75+ for the food you see in the photos. Service was slow. 45-50min wait for food to come out. The table next to us was looking over to us in disbelief when our starter + main came out before theirs, and they were seated before us... They kept asking their server where was the food. Had to get my own cutlery pot, starter came out with no cutlery and we waited and waited for them to bring some over. Went to the waitresses station to help myself in the end. No one came over at any point to check if food was OK. Golden rule #1 Starter plates were not cleared by the time our mains came out. Young lad was struggling to put the food on the table with the plates in the way. Make sure your table is clear before bringing dishes out is a golden rule #2 No salt and vinegar on the tables. And no check up to see if we needed anything else. Lastly, there were 2 young girls and a young lad trying to serve everyone and working very hard. An older gentleman who we assume was the owner or manager was just stood by the toilet entry walkway just watching, arms crossed like a bodyguard (picture 3). Not offering to help, not asking his guests how everything was, not being sociable or welcoming people in, in any way. Another young lad (i assume was family) in a tracksuit was also taking popadoms around. Hardly professional workwear... Unfortunately, we wouldn't rate this overhyped venue until it becomes more established and refines its process. Give it a wide bearth until they have found their rhythm. Will try again later in the year I think but it won't be the regular place we were hoping for.

But anyway my review Well it’s a shame you can’t add pictures on here, we returned to the crown last night for a meal after enjoying drinks on Saturday afternoon, what can I say other than amazing! THE FOOD. I had the SAFFRON BADAMI CHICKEN KORMA, now as I have the curse of being a fussy eater I wasn’t sure at the saffron badami at the front. I asked this to be offered to try a bit of the sauce before going ahead.. I have NEVER been offered this before and it was amazing to have! This was promptly bought out, and when that entered my mouth.. just WOW the flavour was gorgeous! I went ahead and ordered and it was absolutely stunning, I had rice and plain nan also and this went down a treat! My partner had fish and chips and my mother in law the gammon and egg. All meals had such flavour and the portions sizes were perfect! Now as for the development there were no puddings (I do like a sweet treat) however this will be coming as things settle in. My only personal comment (we all have opinions so feel free to ignore) is the starters as someone who’s fussy/can’t handle spice there was no options I could handle, but again this is something that may be bought in as things develop. What was lovely to hear so many people asking if we had tried the food yet as well, again another good sign! THE DRINKS I suppose drinks can be seen as the same everywhere, but it showed how popular this place is when unfortunately Malibu was not available due to how busy they have been. (To me that’s a good sign) when going up to the bar you are welcomed with friendly faces able to have a laugh and chance to soak in the warm atmosphere that this place provides, the bar was clean, the same as the glasses and care taken when making the drinks. THE ATMOSPHERE As soon as you turn up to the crown you feel warmth, cleanliness and feelings of a place you can always be welcome, the staff were all amazing and friendly, despite it being busy, anytime you spoke to someone the time was given, rather than a quick rushed response. The crown itself is done beautifully, I love the mix of rustic and Indian elements to it. There is a nice seated area when you walk in by the bar with the option to have food where you are sat if you want, another room with plenty of space with a pool table to chill, relax and have fun. You then have the seated dining area, with plenty of tables and space, toilets non cramped and most importantly clean and nice smelling. And for smokers, a smoking area round the back, as a smoker myself I think this is a nice idea as also prevents no smokers having to be around it, area both covered and uncovered so bad weather won’t leave you getting soaked! My only comment, especially on nice days is possibly to have a few seats and for older smokers to be able to sit, again this may already be in the plans with the patio area. What’s lovely to see is the atmosphere is customers too, all happy to be there and support our local, it really was such a buzzing atmosphere, you will always have our support and hope others continue this too! Now I do apologise this is a long review, but I feel this is needed and hopefully gives you a clear picture of what a trip to the crown will give you. Reception agreed to stay open until we got there after midnight for check-in which was great. The lady who showed us to our room was very friendly and welcoming. The room was spot on for the one night quick stay. Tidy room. Kettle. Great shower. TV. Breakfast the next day was great - full English and some cereal options too. The hotel definitely is ‘rough and ready’. On our late arrival there was some drunk locals sat at the bar - which is also the reception for check-in. There is a musty cigarette smell when you first walk in and the decor is quite out of date. Not so much parking next to the hotel is also a slight downfall. Aesthetics aside the hotel is great and fit for purpose!

Proper old seaside pub that you can imagine the fisherman drinking in. Lots to look at in the pub too. The owners are a beautiful couple who were very friendly and happy to chat to us about old folklore tales and what we’d been up to on our adventures driving round wales. They taught us how to pronounce certain words and seemed happy that we wanted to know how to as well. The beer tasted clean and wasn’t too pricey… two pints for around £8. We only popped in for one but stayed for a couple. We didn’t eat here but a family were eating pizza and it smelled delicious! I will definitely be popping in again if I’m in the area. 👏👌

Also available some lovely looking pizzas. They even do coffee and cake for £5! Bargain! Really nice atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. It’s very clean and has a lovely homely atmosphere. The couple who are running the pub are fantastic. They were so friendly and, us being tourists, they were so happy to help us with pronunciation of things we weren’t sure about. We only popped in for one pint, ended up having two and a quick whisky. Feast has only been open a week, but it already feels like a restaurant that’s been perfecting its craft for years. We came across it completely by chance, and I can honestly say the food is outstanding, the kind of quality you’d expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The Burrata was a highlight, fresh, creamy, and paired with the most delicious sauce and pesto. I also asked for a customised Napolitan pasta, and the chef absolutely nailed it. A special mention too for the prawns on the side, cooked just right with garlic, butter and herbs, packed with flavour, and absolutely moreish. I resisted licking the bowls clean! The food alone would be enough to bring me back, but the service made the whole experience even more special. Despite it being busy, Lauren went out of her way to make sure we felt looked after. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making our evening memorable. Holyhead is so lucky to have a restaurant like this, and I can’t wait to return.
