I loved the Lemon Poppyseed pancakes, you can really taste the lemon and the blueberry topping and syrup was phenomenal. He enjoyed the pecan pancakes, they were perfectly fluffy and sweet. This used to be a place I was proud of as a local, but that has changed. A go to place from 2015 to about 2020 or so. Last night had a reservation for 7:45 and got seated at 8:15. My husband’s full rack of ribs was also outstanding and a huge serving (the photo is 1/2 rack). The other 1/2 rack Jerry boxed up for us. Jerry, our server, was friendly and very efficient. The steaks were delicious, the loaded baked potato was good, the mashed potatoes were not so great - tasted like they were straight from a box, no seasoning really. The service was great though, our waiter was nice and stayed on top of us the entire time to make sure we were ok. We were seated quickly despite it saying online that reservations are recommended. The fries are mediocre like grocery store crinkle cuts. My wife's land and sea combo was overcooked grocery store chicken strips the popcorn shrimp was decent and the hush puppies love to be handmade but two of them were still gooey in the middle. I would go back for the burger but not what she had it's a little disappointing for the $70 it cost us. We've done the ribeye, filet, smothered chicken and a couple salads for the adults. The steaks were properly cooked, but the seasoning on them just didn't hit and both times I felt like the meat quality wasn't quite up to the standards it should have been for price. The sides and other meals felt like they were afterthoughts. Desserts looked great but when we tried them the cheesecake was chewy and my kids said the peanut butter landslide wasn't good and they'll eat anything made of sugar. Oddly the bar is just beer and house wines. I personally like an old fashioned when I'm eating a steak, but I won't turn my nose up to a nice beer. My friend looked up for a great chicken sandwich and this place was it. It was very fancy restaurant with pretty Christmas decoration. We ordered porkbelly grit as an appetizer and I had a Birchwood burger (medium). I had fries for the side. The plating was beautiful and the foods were amazing. Porkbelly grit was really amazing that we finished them all in less than a minute. It was literally gone. Birchwood burger was very juicy and savory. My fried portabella mushroom was good, but the mushrooms felt tough (maybe overcooked) and the way they was presented on top of the puree and the Brussels sprouts made it difficult and messy to cut through them. A few things I really enjoyed and a few I did not. All the staff we interacted with were nice. Service was a bit slow, all night long. We waited over an hour before having our main courses. When we got them our salads had been cleared over 40 minutes. Their bread was still frozen in the middle and they are rolls you can buy from Walmart. One of the steaks was quite a bit undercooked. All the food we great and they will accommodate requests to remove certain things, such as the mushrooms from the Mac n cheese. We all also got our steaks without glaze which they happily accommodated. We all also changed our sides and they were happy to accommodate that as well.

We found this place on Google maps and were surprised we had never discovered it before. It was a beautiful short ride up from Soco Rd even considering all the downed trees, so pretty in fact that it’s in my mind included as part of the restaurant experience. The menu was limited as could be expected, as were most of all the other restaurants brave enough to open at this time and a symbol of the fiercely strong community spirit. We both selected cheeseburgers from the short menu, I opted for a salad instead of fries but my daughter had the fries. The burgers were good, with caramelized onions and the bread really really good. I was very pleasantly surprised that the mixed salad was spring greens and rainbow radishes, fresh and unusual in a region where some iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato passes off as salad in most restaurants. For my budget the ticket was a little high for two burgers and coffee, but they get an A for effort, good service and a relaxing, classy atmosphere as you might expect in a country club golf course.
