First, it was our 50th anniversary and when I booked the reservation a month in advance I asked for a table with a view of the water, but was told they could not do that?? For dinner we had one of their most popular dishes, the Pan-Roasted Statler Chicken, and we also opted for one of their specials, the Monkfish, as one of the other patrons was raving about it, stating that it was his favorite dish and the perfect cross between swordfish and scallops. Both were outstanding. For dessert we had the Crème Brûlée and the Butterscotch Chocolate Hurricane. The Crème Brûlée had the most perfect caramelized sugar top and the butterscotch mousse was *chef's kiss.* Our visit for brunch was also excellent, and in the daytime we got to appreciate the water views in the heart of the town. Beautiful presentation for all of the dishes and I ate every last bite of my Lobster Eggs Benedict. I also have to point out that the blueberry jam is the best I've ever had! Outstanding food & service! Loved everything we ordered & we ordered a lot of dishes. The Fig Tartlet with goat cheese, crispy pancetta, roasted shallot jam was my favorite as were the Falafel with preserved lemon yoghurt, cucumber quick pickle, dill, house-made naan & the Chicken Meatballs & Pan Seared Halibut. We got the lobster roll deal box, and shared between the two of us. Slightly disappointed in the bun, it was nothing special and like a hamburger bun versus a roll. Prices are high-ish but to be expected at a lobster roll joint in busy Kennebunkport in July! Lines could be worse on weekends or sunnier days, we snuck in right before a storm hit so folks were leaving. Lovely spot for photos. Inside, there are some souvenirs and staff let us hold a lobster. They don’t do a whole lot but what they do I think they do well. With these prices and limited menu, I think it would not be a great place to feed a whole family, however.

Great food and huge portions. The fried calamari app was very tasty, as was the complimentary bread. The service was comical and non-existent. It made for a painful Fall dining experience. We left stunned, because the place had so much going for it. Adorable New England decor, with a very welcoming entry. Cozy fireplace, rustic warm and comfortable bar with many nice upscale touches. We were thinking that we were in for a good night. It proved that just a few key factors can ruin an experience and leave customers with a bad taste in their mouth. That said the food was very good. It’s a small place so it had a small menu. We liked every bite. The fish tacos were a tad dry which could have been fixed with an aioli or sauce. Not a big deal. Everything was clean around us and the plates were attractive. Their restaurant opens from 4 to 8, with 4 to 6 being happy hour w specials. There was never more than 6 people eating and 10 people in the place. The primary bartender was absentee 90% of the time, with 2 couples and a high top of 3 receiving no service or being greeted. People were asking us if someone was working. That made the lack of attentiveness a bigger deal. It would make sense to train the right people with a customer focused approach. If you need to scale things back to put emphasis on customer service, maybe redirect guests & off the street customers to your other restaurants. (Again the kitchen did a solid job) One staffing change could have made this experience incredible and enjoyable for us. It didn’t make sense to us because it was not busy. A swing and a miss for us. We will definitely be back. Possibly to join one of the leagues. They are not a competitive environment. It's more for the fun and camaraderie and meeting new people. While it is a pretty location- it just felt like they did the absolute minimum. We paid $1400 a night for the bungalow which was just ok. The bed was very uncomfortable as others noted if that matters to you. It had some nice amenities like lawn games and pool though. I think the club house is much cheaper to stay at, so for 1/3 the price I probably wouldn’t care about the lack of service which seemed to be lacking at both locations. While I still had a nice trip I wouldn’t be able to recommend this experience for the price- but if you lower your expectations and don’t care about the money it will be fine but do not “splurge” and expect 5 star treatment.

A bit of background:- we were scheduled to arrive between 7:00 - 8:00 pm and had made a dinner reservation at Ocean accordingly. Unfortunately our flight into Logan was delayed, and when it became obvious there was no way we could make our dinner reservation I called the hotel to let them know we were unavoidably delayed. We eventually arrived a little after 9:00 pm and after checking in made our way to the restaurant/bar. The hotel had already arranged for a Charcuterie board for our room (v comfortable well appointed) since the kitchen closed at 9:00 pm. We decided to sit at the bar and first enjoy a drink after our 5+ hr flight and ~2 hr drive. The bartender was delightful and arranged with the kitchen staff to provide us with a couple of hors d'oeuvres, which took the edge off our somewhat stressful journey. In essence, we were made to feel very welcome, and the friendliness and understanding of the entire kitchen/bar staff quickly enabled us to relax and to put our day into perspective. If I had not already reserved a place in Acadia for the next few nights we would most definitely have been happy to stay and enjoy this wonderful property (and their staff) for a while longer. This is a great location if you want to be a little distant from the main town square but still walkable to everything. We enjoyed our very simple but tastefully updated room; clean white linens, comfy bed and a recently renovated bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was perfect to start the day, with yogurts, banana bread, fresh fruit and coffee. The property sits on a small lagoon and Adirondack chairs were great for lounging after a day exploring. Best of all (in our opinion) were the beach cruisers available to guests for use. We love to bike and it’s a great way to explore a new town. We took the bikes into town, along the coastal road leading to the Bush compound and beyond, and through the neighborhoods to check out the area. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We had a great visit and can’t wait to return to Kennebunkport!

The calamari & chicken scampi linguine were divine!! Long story short, Mabel's House is a truly incredible place to stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kennebunkport!

French press coffee, sweet and savory, etc. This is not a big box hotel, for that you can go 50 yards down the street to the colony. We had a corner room overlooking a pond. 3 minute walk across the street to the public beach, a pleasant 10 minute walk into town. The staff is very personable and cares about your enjoyment. Our room had A/c and TV (can't get that at the Colony). If you like smaller, hands on, and great food. Edgewater is highly recommended.

Not greasy or rubbery at all. Great service too. Highlight meal! Parking is tricky, there are two other restaurants so try find parking on the road leading to it. Chowder House is the last restaurant on the right.

The meals, seafood chowder, and fried clams were fresh and local. The full-belly flaky clams were not greasy but light and tasty. The seafood chowder was packed with clams and seafood fun; delicious.
