Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us around the demo areas of coffee, cacao and sugarcane plants and how the beans / canes are processed. The demo areas have plants of a few different sizes bearing the coffee beans or the cacao fruits and we saw examples of harvesting stages, different stages of fermentation or roasting and grinding, and lastly got samples to taste. The coffee tour was very informative about I roasted, light, medium or dark roasted beans, how their aromas and caffeine contents vary and ended with the guide brewing a pot of coffee using a local drip set up. In the chocolate tour we got to taste some pre made chocolates and also made some ourselves by mixing ingredients like processed cacao powder, sugar, milk, additions like peanut butter etc. Lastly, during the sugarcane tour, he showed us how sugarcane stems are pressed to extract juice. Overall it was a very informative and engaging tour, and worth the time. We even saw a sloth hanging out in one of the tall nearby trees.

David and Pedro were amazing and since it was just my partner & I they really made our experience very well worth it. My partner asked to do certain stretches again & David was more than happy to let us do whatever it is we wanted. He gave us plenty of independence so it didn’t feel so “touristy”. Pedro took my phone for the entire tour and got PLENTY of photos and videos of us doing all the most exciting obstacles. And yes, my phone was completely safe the whole time so don’t be afraid when they offer. The track was really awesome, plenty of water & mud to really get down & dirty in. We went through several small rivers, rode through the cassava farms, and then got taken to swim and tube in a gorgeous little river to wash all the muck away. The track we were taken on is definitely for a more advanced rider which is perfect as most atv tour tracks are extremely simplified & not anywhere near as fun as this one was. 10/10, would recommend this to anyone looking for some thrill & some REAL atving with views of the volcano throughout!

We arrived there mid of August 2025 at around 8:30 and were the 2nd car at the parking lot plus one guided tour entering the trail ahead of us, which we overtook pretty quickly. The good thing about the round-trip trails is that you don't have to make a decision in advance. All three trails (red, yellow and green) start at the same point and then divide some time later. So you can make the decision at each bifurcation depending on how you feel at that point of your hike. The green trail is more like a stroll and avoiding any of the lore difficult lava area. I spent a night here but I think at least 2 nights would have been better. You have an amazing view of Arsenal Volcano (when the clouds clear) from the main lodge area with a viewing deck. While the room was spacious, it did get warm in the evening and the vocal wildlife took some getting used to (keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper). There was no AC but after opening a netted window slightly, the room cooled down. The staff was very welcoming and friendly - right from reception to the dining room. Dinner was satisfying with some well cooked dishes. Breakfast was okay - I felt the sections were limited. My two highlights were The Nest and The Spa. If you're okay with heights, you must climb the nest to get a legit 360 panoramic view of your surroundings (including Arenal). The platform shakes slightly with movement and wind but it's totally secure. From there, I saw a clear view of Arenal, the lake, and many monkeys on the trees around. The wildlife is rich with many species of unique birds wondering around the area. The Spa was an absolute delight. I enjoyed the "tired legs" massage so much that I booked another relaxation massage the same day. The setting is very, very inviting - a cozy room away from the lodge that opens up to the forests, the sounds of nature, and rain falling around you. The masseuse, Carolina was excellent! You can walk up to the spa or drive your car around to its dedicated parking. If I had another day at the lodge, I would have taken some of the nature trails, explored the adjacent national park, and just explored/relaxed at the property. WiFi was strong.
