Ancient Ruins
Perched atop Mount Saint Angelo in Italy's Lazio region, the Temple of Jupiter Anxur is a first-century BC structure dedicated to the god Jupiter as a boy and young man. The ancient Romans referred to Terracina as it is, while the Volscians called it Anxur. From the Town Hall Square, visitors can admire this temple along with stunning views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
It's a great place to visit. The ruins are not just the temple but also a Benedictine Monastery that came up at the location in later years. There's fresh excavation in progress. So in a few years we could have new details of the history of the place.

Awesome location, awesome views, prices are very fair (10€ entry). However, they could’ve added more information (signs etc.) within the complex as you sometimes didn’t exactly know what which wall/building was.

Well worth the trip and a unique, mysterious place - the cave gave me the willies!

Highly recommended for those wishing to spend an hour surrounded by history going back 2000 years not to mention those spectacular views. Easy parking

The view is stunning. The archeological sites are interesting. There are a few areas that need fixing or not accessible which could be improved. The path is rough, it could be improved for people with limited access too at least to the main points.
Marco S — Google review
The walk was not challenging, the ruins are worth visiting and the view from the top is spectacular.
Linda N — Google review
This place is amazing, very worthwhile to come and see. The ancient ruins are fascinating and the views down onto Terracina and the ocean are stunning. Cost 7 euros to get in and worth every cent.

Terracina Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Caesarea, is a historic site with a rich blend of architectural styles. Originally built in the 5th century on the remains of a Roman temple to Augustus, it has undergone several renovations over the centuries. The interior features a beautiful marble ambo and 13th-century Cosmatesque flooring. The cathedral overlooks a picturesque square and houses three decorated altars and a stone pulpit resting on four carved animals.
Picturesque. Charming pause after ascending.

(Translated by Google) Built in the early Middle Ages, the cathedral of San Cesareo in Terracina immediately captures attention thanks to the view it offers. The facade is introduced by a portico of ancient columns, decorated with animal figures and a splendid mosaic frieze. Next to it, the Roman-Gothic bell tower is enlivened by an elegant series of loggias. The triumphal arch and the interior, with three naves, are also beautiful to behold. The cathedral overlooks the monumental area of the city, where the medieval grain tower and the Roman archaeological area stand out.

Antico Complesso Monumentale del Foro Emiliano is a significant historical site in Terracina, offering a glimpse into the city's Roman past. The complex includes ancient ruins such as the remains of city walls, the forum with a surviving column, and an archway on the Appian Way. The site is currently undergoing excavation, but some parts are exposed and fascinating to explore.
Su much history and things to see and appreciate. Few areas were closed and off limits due to new excavations and restoring. Public buildings were closed (it was Sunday night) however picturesque shops and local restaurants were all open.

Very old historical complex from Roman times in the old section of Terracina a beach town 1 hour south of Rome you can also sit in the square...there is an old coffee shop that has been there for well over 100 years and have a great cup of coffee and relax.
Joseph O — Google review
The site is currently being exscavated but some of it is exposed and very interesting. Nestled in the heart of the antique centre of town, it's a true representation of blending of old and new, typical of Italian ancient cities. It's truly worth the uphill walk to visit the site, admire the views, have a bite to eat and soak up some history.

A magical place in the old part of Terracina. During the day you can admire the historical remains of the Roman city with the domus and the theatre. During the night, the old streets sparkles with lights and independent restaurants and bars.

The only nice thing of Terracina is its square, with its theater, the cathedral, the forum, and the capitolium. Stuff that you can take in within about half an hour/an hour.

Chiesa del Purgatorio is a historic church located on Corso Anita Garibaldi in Terracina Alta. The church, dating back to the late 18th century, features a unique architectural design with a square exterior and circular interior. As you enter, you'll be greeted by a large skeleton above the front door and more skeletal decorations within. The facade of the church showcases three elliptical windows representing the Holy Trinity.
(Translated by Google) Church from the end of the 18th century with a very particular type of architecture: while the exterior has a square plan, inside we find ourselves with a circular plan. In the four corners of the building left empty by the inscription of the circle in the square were inserted: on the two sides of the altar two spaces reserved for the choirs, in front of them two spaces used as ossuaries. On the facade of the church three elliptical windows represent the Holy Trinity. Inside the church, in addition to various decorations, a cross stands out where objects that refer to the story of the passion have been applied. Very interesting church, worth the visit. Ristorante Hotel Pizzeria Centosedici is a casual venue offering simple rooms and a range of amenities. Conveniently located near Chiesa del Purgatorio Catholic Church, the property offers Wi-Fi access throughout and nearby public parking. Guests can enjoy the sound of the sea and fresh ocean air while dining at the restaurant.
Stayed overnight at a hotel nearby. They recommended 116 to us (me and my wife). Seems like it is the place to be at least food wise. We didn’t have a booking and we got there the place looked empty. It must have been all booked up though as they accommodated us in the back garden. Super friendly staff, delicious food and extremely quick service. I reckon they had a whole army of waiters and chefs and I figured out why - the restaurant got packed in the next 30 minutes. Easy 5 stars from us!

This is such a great hotel. We were treated so nicely. Our room and the service were great. Breakfast and other meals were always the best. Our view was spectacular. You'll be glad you stayed here. If you're celebrating a special occasion, you'll be so glad you did.

We were recommended this restaurant but we couldn't enjoy the evening. Very noisy, lots of personnel but every time we asked something there was a new waiter coming. Pasta alle vongole disappointing - we had better experience in the center of Rome. Fried seafood - a childish portion for seaside restaurant. Tiramisù...almost frozen. The best was white wine which we had to serve ourselves although initially we were offered even to taste. And wine was brought after the second reminder. Very disappointing and expensive for such quality. Very supprised to see so many locals with kids there.

We had to wait circa 2 and a half hours at the table full of flies for a terrible food. We tried 4 different anti-pasta and 2 prima. They were not good at all except the fried mixed seafood. One particular fish smelled very funny. I don't think it was fresh. Only tiramisu was very good. I'm very disappointed that I had to pay so much money for such an unpleasant menu.

The staff was very friendly especialy an Albanian waitress that was last night ! We were staying at one of their apartments and they gave us a 15% discount as we were their hotel Guests ! Highly recommend !

Very good for the price (off-season). Attention: the "rooms with view on the sea" are quite different: either side view, or spectacular full 180-degrees view. It's worth asking for the full view if available.

I booked one single room for four nights and they cleaned the room and changed the sheets and towels every day. The room had one double bed, a dresser, a mini fridge and a balcony. In one of the days I pressed the stoper in the sink and it got stuck; they fixed the problem by the end of the day with no problem. Great staf !
Stefan A — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. We stayed a night and the hotel room was super simple but clean and comfortable, with a great sea view from our balcony. But the restaurant was the highlight for me. Simple menu with fantastic food and wine - from seafood pastas to freshest wood-fired dough pizzas (only in evening as they only fire up the oven in the evenings). Staff were incredibly friendly and professional throughout. And great value! Would highly recommend.

The excellent cuisine and high-quality service make every visit to the restaurant a unique and special experience. The restaurant offers a sizable space with a veranda, where guests can enjoy seafood pasta, fried-fish platters, and fine local wines. Visitors have praised the establishment for its amazing and fresh dishes, including the standout seafood risotto.
Surprising place. Food was delicious and crew was generous. We were complimented with limoncello after lunch.

Food was delicious, whole new experience of sea food, risotto and gnocci. At the end we have been offered a shot of italian limoncello and biscuits. It took little long time to bring the receipt. And after going back to hotel, we felt with my partner very heavy after the food. Otherwise the taste was perfect.👍

Unassuming restaurant from the outside. It was actually massive inside! And a beautiful garden seating area! Everything we had were amazing and fresh. #1 in Terracina (for us)!!!! Great service, great location, great fresh seafood 👌. Very good level of everything. MUST DO in Terracina. We were nicely surprised, it exceeded all our expectations because from outside or from Internet it doesn't show the huge restaurant and outdoor garden that they have in addition to the street terrace. It was full of local people for Wednesday dinner. I managed hotel-restaurant in Tuscany for 10 years and from professional point of view I can definitely tell that they are doing a great job. So very recommend for fresh seafood meal with great service.

1. Food. Spaghetti vongole was on the bland side, seafood risotto was ok. Appreciated warm complementary bread and olives. 2. Service. Mixed feelings. Our wine order was mixed up (and I have a feeling it was done on purpose) from 35€ to 70€ wine. Quite a difference. The expensive wine was great though. They have a big wine card, make sure to memorize the exact name of the wine you’re ordering. Complementary digestivo was much appreciated. 3. Atmosphere in general is fine. I wouldn’t choose to sit in the garden again because of mosquitos. Or bring a spray.

Nestled by the water, the Centro di ristorazione dei Pescatori di Terracina is a delightful self-serve eatery that captures the essence of Mediterranean dining. With tables offering stunning views, this vibrant spot draws in crowds during summer evenings, creating a lively atmosphere filled with chatter and laughter. The cooperative nature of this restaurant means you’re enjoying seafood sourced directly from local fishermen, ensuring freshness that’s hard to beat.
For the price, unbeatable and the quality of the seafood is excellent. Definitely a place to recommend. Fast service. Quite romantic in the evening.

I did buy a frittura gamberi e calamari takeaway for 4 people for 32 euro. The food quality was very good but the portion was ridiculously small.

Justin G — Google review
Probably the only place in town you should go for seafood. It's a cooperative with the local fishermen - and the flavours really do prove that. We were overwhelmed by the delicious seafood and the cosy vibe you get when you sit outside on the bridge. Honest prices and the fish was so fresh, it almost dived back into the water.. So good we went there twice 😅 (the second time for takeaway)

Excellent Mediterranean food and the risotto is highly recommended. The spectacular view
Carlos M — Google review
Great food and although it's a self service (I don't mind, I came to pay for the food!!) people where super nice ♥️
L. H — Google review
We made the mistake of visiting this restaurant at the busiest time on a Saturday night. There was a queue that took us about half an hour to navigate, with no attempt at social distancing. The food is good. A wide range of seafood and fish dishes, served cantine style, then you take your tray of food and search for a table. There's plenty of table space, some under cover, and plenty outside. If you are lucky you can find a space on the bridge itself. Although the food is good, it is nothing special, and the price per plate is not significantly cheaper than a place with table service. So find for an evening out with the family, but won't win any points for a date.
Mark J — Google review
The worst dinner in a restaurant I had in all my life. Probably the worst place to eat in Terracina, just a rip off, the food is not fresh ,probably is frozen food from far away not from the area,it's expensive, the staff put you under pressure for eat fast because they need the table for the next customer, they don't let you even finish your plate.

Really good Pizza :) We were a group of 3, arrived shortly after they opened. We were the only customers (not main tourist season). The staff was friendly, service was nice and fast. We had one Suppli (crispy fried rice ball with cheese stuffing) and 3 pizzas, the ones with "melanzane" tasted a little smokey (but really good). The pizzas are big with thin dough and the crust is crispy. They also have local wines in the fridge (Sant Andrea, 10/10 can recommend). Even the "skeptic" in our group enjoyed his meal. ;) The interior is more practical than pretty but everything was clean. Bonus point: We forgot an umbrella at the table, one of the guys came running after us and gave it back. Grazie mille!
