Perched atop Mount Saint Angelo in Italy's Lazio region, the Temple of Jupiter Anxur is a first-century BC structure dedicated to the god Jupiter as a boy and young man. The ancient Romans referred to Terracina as it is, while the Volscians called it Anxur. From the Town Hall Square, visitors can admire this temple along with stunning views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
incredible views of the coastline, you need a cab ride to the summit...but walking downhill to the town is a great walking tour of the area

Awesome location, awesome views, prices are very fair (10€ entry). However, they could’ve added more information (signs etc.) within the complex as you sometimes didn’t exactly know what which wall/building was.

Highly recommended for those wishing to spend an hour surrounded by history going back 2000 years not to mention those spectacular views. Easy parking

The view is stunning. The archeological sites are interesting. There are a few areas that need fixing or not accessible which could be improved. The path is rough, it could be improved for people with limited access too at least to the main points.
Marco S — Google review
This place is amazing, very worthwhile to come and see. The ancient ruins are fascinating and the views down onto Terracina and the ocean are stunning. Cost 7 euros to get in and worth every cent.
Harald H — Google review
Worthy only if you happen to be in the area, as little is left. Best part is the well preserved cryptoporticus.
Metalpsyche82 — Google review
Absolutely magic place, half way between Rome and Napoli, that should be more highlighted and better known. With ancient Terracina downstairs one may feel like moving in time. The site was worshipped long time before the Temple of Jovis Anxur was founded. Wonderful place for pic-nick, and hiking, especially if you are without a car.

Antico Complesso Monumentale del Foro Emiliano is a significant historical site in Terracina, offering a glimpse into the city's Roman past. The complex includes ancient ruins such as the remains of city walls, the forum with a surviving column, and an archway on the Appian Way. The site is currently undergoing excavation, but some parts are exposed and fascinating to explore.
Su much history and things to see and appreciate. Few areas were closed and off limits due to new excavations and restoring. Public buildings were closed (it was Sunday night) however picturesque shops and local restaurants were all open.
Davide M — Google review
Very old historical complex from Roman times in the old section of Terracina a beach town 1 hour south of Rome you can also sit in the square...there is an old coffee shop that has been there for well over 100 years and have a great cup of coffee and relax.
Joseph O — Google review
The site is currently being exscavated but some of it is exposed and very interesting. Nestled in the heart of the antique centre of town, it's a true representation of blending of old and new, typical of Italian ancient cities. It's truly worth the uphill walk to visit the site, admire the views, have a bite to eat and soak up some history.

A magical place in the old part of Terracina. During the day you can admire the historical remains of the Roman city with the domus and the theatre. During the night, the old streets sparkles with lights and independent restaurants and bars.

The only nice thing of Terracina is its square, with its theater, the cathedral, the forum, and the capitolium. Stuff that you can take in within about half an hour/an hour.

Terracina Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Caesarea, is a historic site with a rich blend of architectural styles. Originally built in the 5th century on the remains of a Roman temple to Augustus, it has undergone several renovations over the centuries. The interior features a beautiful marble ambo and 13th-century Cosmatesque flooring. (Translated by Google) Built in the early Middle Ages, the cathedral of San Cesareo in Terracina immediately captures attention thanks to the view it offers. The facade is introduced by a portico of ancient columns, decorated with animal figures and a splendid mosaic frieze. Next to it, the Roman-Gothic bell tower is enlivened by an elegant series of loggias. The triumphal arch and the interior, with three naves, are also beautiful to behold. The cathedral overlooks the monumental area of the city, where the medieval grain tower and the Roman archaeological area stand out.

Chiesa del Purgatorio is a historic church located on Corso Anita Garibaldi in Terracina Alta. The church, dating back to the late 18th century, features a unique architectural design with a square exterior and circular interior. As you enter, you'll be greeted by a large skeleton above the front door and more skeletal decorations within. The facade of the church showcases three elliptical windows representing the Holy Trinity.
(Translated by Google) Church from the end of the 18th century with a very particular type of architecture: while the exterior has a square plan, inside we find ourselves with a circular plan. In the four corners of the building left empty by the inscription of the circle in the square were inserted: on the two sides of the altar two spaces reserved for the choirs, in front of them two spaces used as ossuaries. On the facade of the church three elliptical windows represent the Holy Trinity. Inside the church, in addition to various decorations, a cross stands out where objects that refer to the story of the passion have been applied. Very interesting church, worth the visit.

(Translated by Google) It is the only church with a central and baroque plan in the historic center of Terracina. Externally, looking at the facade, it does not appear circular but it is; the bell tower is a pagodina. It is preceded by a long staircase and on the facade, at the top, shows a skeleton with a cartouche, indicating the type of church. The church of S. Nicola once stood in this area, on whose remains the current church was built in the second half of the 18th century. You can find it along viale Anita Garibaldi. Pisco Montano is a remarkable feat of ancient Roman engineering located between Monte S. Angelo and the sea, along the Old Appian Way between Rome and Naples. This monumental work was created around the third century BC to facilitate passage on the Appian Way, with Emperor Trajan commissioning a cliff cut in 104 AD to expedite movement of Roman troops and supplies towards Brindisi.

To provide passage to the ancient Appian Way, which previously ran through high hills around the third century BC, skillful Roman engineers and architects created a cutout of this mountain that extended to the sea. Today, the artificial ledge next to the promenade and beaches is illuminated in the summer and is a romantic attraction. (Original) Гора Писко. (Translated by Google) It is a natural monument at the southern entrance of Terracina, there is no entrance or ticket to pay, you can only admire the work of man who, to allow a more agile passage of the Appian Way towards the south, literally "shortened" the mountain leaving this rock spur to guard the sea and access to the city through the Neapolitan gate. In ancient times it was the seat of a guardhouse later occupied by brigands, the buildings can still be seen on the side of the mountain, and many still wonder how the men managed to get there. Symbol of Terracina together with the Temple of Jupiter Anxur above.

Palazzo della Bonificazione Pontina, constructed between 1780 and 1785, served as the administrative center for the Pontine reclamation. The building is located on the ruins of a Roman basilica, which can still be seen along the Salita dell'Annunziata. Over time, it has housed needy families and homeless individuals after the war before being repurposed as municipal housing. In recent years, there have been discussions about potentially restoring the entire palace.
