Park
Nature & Parks
Cassiobury Park, located on the edge of urban development, spans 190 acres of open grass and woodland. It features a nature reserve with wet woodland and marshland, as well as paths alongside the Grand Union Canal and through Whippendell Woods. The park offers sports facilities, kids' attractions such as an extensive play park and miniature railway, and amenities like cafes. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities like sunbathing, paddling pools, and play areas.
Cassiobury Park is a wonderful spot for a family day out, with plenty of open green spaces that make it perfect for picnics. The park has a variety of food options nearby, including cafés and kiosks where you can grab snacks, ice creams, or a hot drink to enjoy while relaxing on the grass. It’s easy to find a quiet patch for a picnic, whether you prefer being near the hub of activity or tucked away in a more peaceful corner. The atmosphere feels welcoming, and there’s a nice balance between areas to unwind and spaces buzzing with families. For children, the play areas are a real highlight—modern, safe, and full of equipment to keep them entertained for hours. The splash park in summer is a particular favorite, making it great for warm days. Walking along the canal adds another layer of charm, as you can watch narrowboats glide past or simply enjoy a gentle stroll. Between the kids’ attractions, the scenic waterway, and the relaxed picnic-friendly vibe, Cassiobury Park offers something for everyone and easily fills a day with simple but memorable pleasures.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of a day in Cassiobury Park if you’re going for the miniature railway: 🚂 Miniature Railway Ride times are 11 am – 5 pm. It’s a short, fun trip through the trees that kids (and adults!) love. 🎶 Bandstand Today, 3 pm – 5 pm, the Big Bandstand series is on. Free live music in the heart of the park—great to relax after the train ride. 👧 Playgrounds Two big playgrounds: The Hub Playground near the Cha Café has water play features (splash area in summer), climbing frames, and swings. The Lower Playground near the paddling pools is best for younger children. 🍴 Food & Drink Cha Café (by the Hub): Independent café with sandwiches, cakes, kids’ lunch boxes, and good coffee. Gets busy at lunchtime, so earlier or later is best. Ice-cream vans and kiosks are dotted around the park. Plenty of picnic spots if you’d rather bring your own. 🌳 Walks & Extras Lovely riverside walks along the Grand Union Canal (just beyond the railway). Wide open spaces for ball games or frisbee. If you’ve time, stroll through the nature reserve area at the far end of the park—it’s quieter and great for spotting wildlife. 👉 A nice flow for your day could be: Morning: Playground + railway ride Lunch: Picnic or Cha Café Afternoon: Canal walk

This is such an amazing park, for people living around it’s a bliss. It is such a large and lovely place. Large tress with water bodies running canals gives a wholesome feel of forest and countryside.

Amazing and beautiful park for walks with your dog. It has a lot to offer not only to pet owners but also to parents or anyone who enjoys nature 2h free parking included but remember to take a ticket even for free period. There are at least 2 cafe points there, these are a bit pricey but they have good coffee.

I recently visited Cassiobury Park for the Bake Fest event, and it was a really lovely experience. The park itself is beautiful — spacious, green, and well looked after, with plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. The Bake Fest was a real highlight: so many stalls with delicious baked goods, as cakes and pastries. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and it felt like a great community event. Cassiobury Park is already a great place to spend time, whether for a walk, picnic, or just to relax outdoors, and events like Bake Fest make it even more special. I’d definitely recommend visiting, especially when something like this is happening!
Elena P — Google review
Lovely and clean park. Good for running, walking your pets, or just chilling. Quiet and serene with lots of seating areas and a small play area for kids. There's also a canal there with a mini waterfall that looks nice.

I visited many times in this park with kids. In summer this is full of people. Also this park has free parking, but this is limited for 2 hours. There are lots of playing equipment for kids. Also this park has the restroom and small cafeteria to celebrate the small party. In summer, evening view is very beautiful. This park also has the small canal and you can also enjoy the fishing. I recently went here in Fun fair to enjoy the summer.

Visited the fire museum section which is across the road behind the fire station. This was on an open day so there were a range of both vintage and modern fire engines on display. Inside the museum building there were displays of equipment, uniforms and photos of incidents attended by the brigade. Well worth a visit.

Surprisingly good local history exhibits, including live printing press demonstrations that bring the past to life. The Elton John display showcases some of his early costumes and memorabilia. Free admission makes it a great rainy-day option for families and curious visitors alike.

Watford Palace Theatre is a local producing theatre that offers a variety of performances including drama, dance, musicals, and pantomime in an Edwardian auditorium. The 600-seat Grade II listed building has been recently modernized to provide high-quality theater shows for both audiences and artists. Its impressive front features bands of white limestone and brickwork alternating with two domes covered in copper, giving it a historical and grand appearance.
Absolutely beautiful theatre!! Attended here several times with a friend and each time I was delighted by the friendly and caring staff, gorgeous sets, tasty drinks, and sleek yet comfortable lounging areas. The theatre itself is luxurious, clearly well loved and maintained with extremely comfortable seats to watch the performance from.
Icarus C — Google review
This suburban theatre located in Watford town centre surrounded a variety of shops. The theatre is quite spacious, and seats are comfortable. I enjoyed the show and found the theatre friendly. Would definitely recommend it.
Donna — Google review
Walked passed this theatre and noticed a poster with Tiny dancer the musical a tribute to Elton John. As we both like his music oh and Reg Dwight came from that area well we couldn't resist booking. Wow what a fantastic evening. And Tom Watson was a superb Elton John if I didn't have my glasses on it could have been him lol. His band was also excellent. Yes it's an old theatre and leg room for me was tight but it didn't distract from a superb evening entertainment and really enjoyed it
William M — Google review
Booked seats in the upper circle. Was a good seat but was told that we could move to the Circle If we wanted, so we did. View from both was brilliant and the panto was funny, entertaining and enjoyable for young and old. My favourite part was the audience participation and 'Fanny G' was amazing
Meter V — Google review
An incredibly intimate, yet spacious Theatre in the Watford town centre area. This theatre has a drinks and snacks options available, with a casual seating area. The bathroom facilities is a bit cramped and small but very clean. Staff interaction was to a minimum but very courteous. There is a good range of shows all throughout the year, for all ages. Inside was very ornate and seats were comfortable and spacious, especially for a tall person like me. We came for the first time in May ‘23 for the performance of ‘Happy Birthday Sunita’. The show was very good; it was delightfully funny and highlighted many interesting cultural aspects of the British Indian diaspora. I would definitely be interested in going again and will look out for any new shows.

**Edit** Another visit on a cooler night. Good show again. Overall stars remain the same. Everything just nice. Forgot on last review to say staff good too** Went to see Susie Dent for an afternoon show on the hottest day in September! Great show. Highly recommend the show. The venue.. lovely old building. Can't fault the atmosphere. Bar area small for the size of the venue. There is another area but it was closed. Absolutely boiling. There was a fan somewhere but not powerful enough to make a massive impact. They have a variety of shows. Well worth a visit

I visited Watford Palace Theatre to watch Sidhu Vee’s show, and it was a great experience! The show was fantastic, and the food and drinks were fairly priced. The seating could have been a bit more comfortable. The theatre has its charm, but a few updates could enhance the overall experience as the theatre has more of an old-school vibe compared to venues in central London.

The property features pathways for exploration, making it ideal for families with children who enjoy outdoor adventures.
Visited during a weekend. Limited parking space inside. I’ve parked outside. 5min drive from Watford city center. Perfect little garden to roam.

Stunning garden! We love that it is open to the public with no fee! We presumed we could view the inside of the house too but we realised it does not say “Open house” The garden has different kinds of plants! A must visit and highly recommended. PS. If you have primary aged children, it is a great way to go there for a walk, discuss a bit about plants and bring a picnic. You and your little ones would have a great day out!

Very nice little garden and house, they have fish pond and birds cage with some nice birds inside. Very quiet and calm with some benches to set down and relax. Small car park which makes easier for people with kids and old age people to visit this place. Some benches around to set down and have a rest.

Beautiful gardens and peaceful to reflect and relax, recommend to take a camera to capture moments. Very well kept garden with toilet available and plenty of parking outside nearby. Definitely recommend visiting in the warm weather.

Lovely large wooden garden. Note to those who look after it: The pond pump must be on fire the koi carp as it is like pea soup. A small white bird who has lost its feathers is being pecked and is bleeding. Toilet dreadful. No staff here or able to contact anyone!

Lovely place to chill and lots of beautiful plants and flowers to enjoy.

Visited Friday 24th October. Beautiful gardens, well worth a visit but..... The toilets were closed, with Staff Only signs. Very lucky for me, weddings taking place on that day, so the house was open. I snook in there. I was also under the impression I could get a cup of tea, but may be wrong on that.

What a wonderful find! Beautifully maintained gardens with paths, statues, arbors, quiet benches, koi pond and the day we went an exhibit from a local artist. Small, quaint and quiet -- would be great for a picnic, easy walk, etc.

Movie & TV Tours
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, also known as the Harry Potter Studio Tour, offers a magical experience for visitors of all ages. Located in Hertfordshire, this tour takes you through the actual film sets where the popular Harry Potter movies were made. You can explore iconic locations like Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Platform 9¾ while learning about special effects and seeing authentic props from the films.
Our first visit to the Harry Potter Studios in London was truly magical! The staff were so friendly and everyone wished my little girl a happy birthday after noticing her badge from the information desk, which made the day extra special. The sets, costumes, creatures, models, and special effects were absolutely incredible. The information throughout was fascinating, and the memorial to one of the artists who passed away was a beautiful and heartfelt touch. You can really feel the spirit of the films here with the dedication, creativity, and family bond between the cast, crew, and production team shines through every display. The shops, café, and food were fantastic too!We travelled three and a half hours to visit, and it was completely worth it. A wonderful, magical experience we’ll never forget! ✨

Amazing place! Its been many years since I was last there and its nice that more things have been added in that time. Went during the dark arts time and was fun to see the death eather preforming at different locations around the studio. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Harry Potter! The lay out is brilliant and just getting to see how it was all made is amazing.
Korie H — Google review
Where do I start! Absolutely amazing experience. A must visit for all the potter heads out there. Being a core fan of the book, the movie sets was truly a visual treat. I visited during the Dark Arts theme right after Halloween. The entire tour looked like a carefully planned adventure. The atmosphere felt do lively - kudos to the employees and the guides. A kind employee even took my picture (I was on a solo trip!). I saw the butter beer had mixed reviews. But I personally devoured it. It was refreshing after a long walk. Food was alright, not a fan of the unsalted fries. Some spaces did feel a bit rushed, specially people pushing and hovering around impatiently. Could see the kids engaging a lot with the sets. The photo booths are cute, however felt like a rip-off to have a poster print for £20! Considering the high turnaround rate, they could reduce the price. The broom videos looked a bit tacky but would be a fun try out for kids. Loved the small performance by the Death Eaters who kindly let us take pictures together! Cried myself through the pricey souvenirs, but the butter beer packs were a steal! For folks who can’t find the tickets during the holidays, keep checking every single day twice. I got mine on a random day check, and snagged it right away! They were kind enough to swap me to a different slot (which I found again), without additional charges! Overall worth every penny!

We had arranged a visit to the Warner Bros. Studio for our daughter’s birthday, as she’s crazy about Harry Potter. We were greeted by Menaka at the ticket collection counter. She was incredible!! 😃 Super friendly and charismatic in every way, and a true potterhead too! Our daughter was fully engaged in conversation with Menaka who shared all the wonderful things to look out for whilst on the tour. We gained tips on how to manage our time during the tour, which took 5 hours in total, including a break at the Butterbeer Bar. Menaka also gave our girl a birthday badge and several other goodies, which truly delighted her. We were amazed by the genuine kindness shown to make our daughter feel special 💓 We had arrived over an hour earlier than our scheduled tour time, so Menaka encouraged us to enjoy lunch in the Food Hall. We loved it! All dishes were very tasty and generous in portion, so we were fully prepared for the grand tour 🤩 As a birthday girl, our daughter was given the special privilege to open the door to Hogwarts! 🎉 From then on, the tour was outstanding. Spectacular sets, fun green screen experience and entertaining death eater performances. Beware of the Dementors and Acromantulas in the forbidden forest! 😨 Overall, a superb day out made extra special by all staff members, though Menaka was our favourite!! 🌟
A&J Z — Google review
Went on the small group tour. We were meant to skip queues but we didn't skip the queue we just skipped the bit we were going to see. But it was still worth it to get all the amazing little facts that the guide gave us. We went when it was hogwarts in winter. The food here is super expensive! You can take tour own food but i felt like it was part of the experience so just went with it. Remember to get your free passport so you can get your stamps as you go round 👍 The tour was 4hrs with a 1hr break. We went back in so in total spent 6hrs there and definitely could have spent longer. Take your time and make sure you make the most out of the full day.

A MUST if you are a Harry Potter or film fan. Amazing tour guide! You are right where it all happened. Far away. We did deluxe tour, it was great but has room for improvement for sure. Our guide was amazing! Stayed for High Tea and it was okay.

The interactive elements and knowledgeable guides make it engaging for all ages. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just curious about movie magic, this tour is a must-visit. Truly enchanting from start to finish! ✨

I highly recommend the VIP tour. Breakfast was delicious and the guided tour was so informative. You are able to really get behind the magic with the aid of your personal tour guide. Italian restaurant
Cocktail bar
Nestled in the heart of Watford, Pepe Rosso is a charming and laid-back café that invites you to indulge in authentic Italian cuisine. With its cozy banquettes and stylish tiled floors, this casual eatery sets the perfect backdrop for a delightful dining experience. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere as you explore their extensive menu, which boasts some of the finest stone-baked pizzas around.
I came here when I was younger and loved their breakfast and lunch however recently went for dinner, and enjoyed that even more! Should have come here more often for dinner. Starters were great value for money, loved the mozzarella garlic pizza bread and the crispy tempura king prawns, they were really delicious. I had the spaghetti carbonara for my main and it was massive, definitely worth coming for this. Would be even better if they used guanciale to add a little more saltiness, nevertheless it still was amazing. Goats cheese pizza was really nice and creamy and dough was incredibly light and soft, the balsamic caramelised onions added a really nice sweet taste combined with the slightly bitter rocket. Staff there were amazing, not sure who our server was but he did an amazing job, complete allrounder from drinks to serving to helping out in the kitchen. Overall would definitely recommend coming here and I will be visiting more often.
Catlis2102 — Google review
I had the misfortune of dining at this establishment recently, and I must say, it was one of the worst culinary experiences I’ve had in quite some time. We ordered a beer to start, which arrived warm and tasted flat, reminiscent of a beer that’s been sitting out for far too long. I can only assume they switch off the fridge overnight and turn it back on during working hours – a terrible oversight in any restaurant. The food was even more disappointing. We ordered a Carbonara and a pizza. The Carbonara was simply dreadful, drowned in a white sauce that tasted more like mascarpone or cream, rather than the traditional egg-based sauce. It lacked any seasoning, and the few bits of ham scattered through it were tasteless. The presentation was abysmal, with the dish looking like it had been reheated in a microwave and then dumped onto a plate, still retaining the odd shape of the container it must have come from. The pizza was equally bad. The dough was rubbery, clearly undercooked, and there was barely any topping – less than 1cm of ingredients, with the rest being just dough. The small amount of cheese and chicken that was present tasted off, with the chicken in particular having an unusual and unpleasant flavour. The only redeeming features were the pleasant atmosphere and the professionalism of the waiter, but when it comes to dining, good food should be the top priority – and here, it was sorely lacking. There’s a Pizza Express just across the street. I strongly suggest heading there instead if you’re after something decent. There’s nothing worse than being hungry and wasting money on terrible food.

A beautifully, quaint Italian restaurant! We decided after looking at the positive reviews to try as it was my daughters birthday. The two waiters who served us were polite, with prompt service and always with a smile. The food was delicious, excellent quality, and all homemade. I would recommend to anyone visiting Watford to try here. My only issue was they had run out of puddings, but that also tells me they've been extremely busy throughout the day, and it's not hard to see why.

Very quiet. I hadn't been to a S&G for years and thought it would have the same atmosphere as the city restaurants (even for a Tuesday lunch) The staff were excellent as was the service. However the food, not so. Everything was deep fried in breadcrumbs. It was hard to distinguish the chicken from the duck and the calamari from the cheese. I asked why the boa buns was so dark and was told "that's how they are"

We started out with a very nice dinner. The staff kindly replaced fries with delicious sweet potato fries. The food was great even though they were out of steak. When we ordered drinks, we were informed about 1+1 free of the same two drinks so we just got two drinks each. The drinks weren't very strong so we appreciated the special offer.

I’m extremely disappointed with the service at Slug & Lettuce Watford. We had a bottomless brunch booking and received a call just 8 minutes before our reservation to be told it was cancelled due to an issue with the kitchen. The only food options offered were a salad or mac and cheese, neither of which were suitable for our group – and certainly not reflective of what we paid for. We had travelled an hour to get to this location and spent £60 on a taxi, only to be given no real solution, compensation, or even a proper apology. Despite the fact no food would be served, we were not offered an upgrade, discount, or alternative. Instead, we were simply told, "We can’t do it then." This level of service is unacceptable, especially considering there was no prior warning about any kitchen issues – something that could have easily been communicated earlier in the day. The lack of accountability and unwillingness to help resolve the situation left us incredibly frustrated and out of pocket. Would strongly reconsider booking here in the future unless improvements are made in communication and customer care. Ended up leaving due to this.
Missy L — Google review
Good atmosphere and lovely staff. We did the bottomless brunch, there was 6 of us and we had a good time. Drinks came frequently unlike some bottomless brunches elsewhere. However, we ordered food and after 20 minutes the waiter came back and told us they didn’t have any of the things we ordered so we all had to pick something else which was then limited as they ran out of loads. I’m not sure why it took them so long to figure it out they didn’t have most of the stuff on the menu. The food then took ages to come. We had the table 7:45-9:45 and I think the food came out at 9pm. Other than that the drinks experience was great.

The Florist Bar & Restaurant in Watford is a charming establishment open from morning until late at night, offering a diverse menu to cater to various dietary preferences. The restaurant's brunch menu features both classic and innovative dishes, allowing diners to create their own brunch board from an array of small plates. From delectable baked goods to protein-packed options and sweet treats like carrot cake overnight oats, there's something for everyone.
A surprisingly great meal! We just walked in with no research/recommendation and loved it. The decor was fun, every dish was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. It's tucked away a bit but it's worth the search.

Such a beautiful spot to eat, grab a drink, and have a good chat. It’s got a rustic charm but still feels super elegant and well taken care of. The food was great overall—though the pork chops were a bit overcooked and chewy. Service could’ve been smoother; we had to wave a few times to get someone’s attention. Seemed like they might’ve been short-staffed and doing their best. Other than that, it was a fantastic experience. Definitely going back!

Sure! Here's a more natural and polished version of your comments: --- This is a lovely spot for lunch, with a beautifully floral interior that makes it perfect for a date or taking photos with friends and family. The service fee is optional if you're in a group of fewer than seven people. The food is excellent — the Asian Pork Belly Bites are my absolute favorite: sweet, crispy, and tender without being dry. The Cumberland sausage also makes a solid choice for a main course. Prices are reasonable, around \$30 per person without dessert. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. Just keep in mind that there aren't many servers, so things might be a bit slow — patience helps!

Actual location is good and decor has been done very well. Areas were dirty with crumbs on the seats and food on the floor. When we arrived there was no one to meet us, had to get the bar man to show us to our table. Ordered the signature hanging kebab sharing platter. Chips were hard and cold all the kebab meat seemed like it came out of a packet except the Halloumi which was the nicest part of the dish. Onion rings deep fried packet bought and served soggy.

Sat outside in the lovely sun, this was a quick stop before heading home. My friend and I ordered soft drinks, table water, and a side of chips. Very pretty decor and lots of photo opportunities. I would visit and recommend.

🌸 Beautiful experience at The Florist, Watford! The restaurant is absolutely stunning full of pink flowers and dreamy décor that makes you feel like you’re dining inside a fairytale garden. 🌷 I had the chicken kebab it was super delicious, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the whole atmosphere was so cosy and elegant. Definitely a place worth visiting again! 💕

We celebrated a family birthday here last night and had a lovely evening. There was 0 of us split across 2 tables as requested/booked. The service and vibe here is great. They really looked after us well and made sure our celebration was a success. A special shout out to our server Charlene who went above and beyond, despite having a ‘tricky’ patron on the next table over. The food was okay, not amazing but that’s a personal thing for me. I can be a fussy foodie.

Last Friday, I had the delightful experience of dining at The Glasshouse and I am already looking forward to returning soon. This establishment is renowned for its exceptional buffet, which is considered one of the finest in London. I thoroughly enjoyed a wide array of dishes including sushi, sashimi, prawn salad, lobsters, cheese and salad, as well as enticing desserts. The freshness of the food was evident and the service provided was impeccable.
A buffet for the hungry ones. There is something for everybody. Salads, charcuterie, seafood and cured fish, fresh sushi, cheeses, indian cuisine, thai, carvery, british, choose your own pasta and sauce combo, pizza, grill steaks, desserts selection, chocolate fountain, ice cream. Huuge, but price is too. £69 plus service charge. Go hungry and enjoy as much as you can eat. I gained 2 kg in one sitting. Seriously, food, service was amazing. Great atmosphere, place is packed. I will go back, making sure i did not eat for a whole day before.

Food is obviously prepared to great standard with great staff The buffet itself is a tightly packed nightmare where people are crammed into a small stream of which no one knows the correct direction, which leads to a lot of knocking into each other Definitely ask to be sat as far away from the buffet as possible. The closer the more hectic and hot it gets. We were placed behind a busy blind spot so getting out to the buffet was a hazard itself. Didn’t make for a great experience and wouldn’t recommend a visit. The grounds were lovely outside and we enjoyed a lovely stroll after being packed in at the back of the Glasshouse

We had an absolutely wonderful time at The Glasshouse at the Grove! The ground and area are beautiful and the food was insane. Can’t believe the food was such high quality for a buffet! I have already recommended it to friends and family and we only came last night! We will definitely be back! The beef wellington was unreal and cooked perfectly!

Not just a meal - an epic experience. A real quality event. All the food looks wonderful and you wish you could eat it all.....Wonderful surroundings and comfortable seating. Staff are so pleasant and just whisk away your plates leaving you ready to sample your next delicacy. The roast was great, but my favourite was the desserts. The chocolate fountain, marshmallows, Turkish delight, meringues oh, I could go on and on. Well worth the money. Treat yourself.

The most expensive buffet in England — but worth it for a special, informal occasion. The setting at The Grove is stunning and romantic, but The Glasshouse itself is more vibrant than intimate. It’s all about exploring fantastic food and trying new things. A great treat for food lovers!

Situated inside The Grove Hotel and accessible through the main entrance (you pass it on the way to the car park). Beautiful tiered dining area. Starters, mains and seating on the higher tier, deserts and more seating on the lower tier. Quite an incredible range of food stations Indian, Italian, seafood, salad, Asian, carvery, sushi and deserts! Food quality is excellent with the right level of quality vs replenishment. All the food that should be hot was hot, and flavourful to boot. In particular, I recommend the Indian and carvery although the level everywhere was high. Service was great and on point, as well as the general ambience. It's expensive (~£88/head) and I think you either get value from buffets or you don't, but we enjoyed it.

Definitely worth to go! The atmosphere was great and the view of the garden was stunning🪄! Food is good but the option was a bit little. It’d have been great if there is more option on the sashimi and pasta. But the dessert section is absolutely a highlight!!
