Specialty Museums
The Vonderau Museum in Fulda offers a captivating experience for visitors, featuring both a social history museum and a top-notch planetarium. The planetarium provides an immersive journey through the enigmatic universe, using cutting-edge simulation technology to explore humanity's connection with the cosmos. Meanwhile, the history museum showcases Fulda's evolution from ancient times to the present day through an array of historical artifacts, archaeological items, and interactive displays.
Very nice city museum it definitely deserves a quick look.
PS — Google review
It has loads of artefacts from fulda and surroundings. Rich of local history. As a tourist I was surprised to see that a museum doesn't have a description of the objects in another language than German and some of the artefacts don't have a year/century attached. From maps is hard to see the entrance and we asked 2 people where it could be, being directed wrongly, it will be nice if the museum could add a sign on the street to point tourists to the correct direction.

(Translated by Google) Great museum very diverse and informative. We liked the large tapestry with the projector best, a great idea implemented. Like cinema but without film. The only unfortunate thing was that there were only a handful of lockers where you could lock your jackets. There is also an open wardrobe but we really didn't feel like making our good jackets available to everyone. We then had to wear them for the entire visit to the museum. This could perhaps be expanded a bit. I can easily imagine that there are more people who would like to lock up their jackets and bags.

Schloss Fasanerie, a palace complex dating back to the 1700s, is a stunning destination just a few miles away from Fulda. Originally built as a royal summer residence, this Baroque palace now offers tours of its 60 exhibition rooms during the summer months. The extensive grounds feature picturesque walking paths and a vast garden perfect for peaceful strolls and meditation. Visitors can enjoy English tours with knowledgeable guides and even savor the experience of dining at the on-site restaurant.
Beautifully landscaped castle. The gardens are beautiful to visit throughout the year. There is a small beer garden, a terraced café and restaurant. Dogs are permitted in the park on a lead. Parking is available for a small fee. A wonderful venue for different events.
Katie F — Google review
On this lovely, mostly sunny & crisp "pre-autumn" day, the estate was beautiful to walk around in, and the small "Japanese" houses in the park are beautifully restored. At the palace entrance, the restaurant/cafe (opposite the museum ticket & shop entrance), in an older room with an arched ceiling & pillars, was a pleasant spot to visit for afternoon Kaffee und Kuchen (reasonably priced €23 for 2 cappuccinos & 2 pieces of cake), with very friendly & humorous staff waiting on us.
Thomas L — Google review
It is a wonderful castle. The garden is very huge, but there's no fountain in it.and there is an English tour with an English guide inside the castle.

Beautiful palace, interesting guided tour (in German only). Picture taking not allowed. Poor toilets, restaurant closed due to a private party, while the reception had informed us that it was open. Biergarten with poor service.

Sacred & Religious Sites
St. Michael Church in Fulda, Germany, is a historic landmark that dates back to between 820 and 822. It is recognized as the oldest Holy Sepulchre church in the country and holds significant architectural and artistic value. The original rotunda and crypt from the Carolingian era are still visible, while later centuries saw expansions and renovations to the church.
Simple and very humble dark-ages era church in Fulda. Really humbling to visit . The basement is preserved and has existed for a millennium untouched by wars. Really an important 15 minute must-see!
Carl C — Google review
Very interesting church from the 800’s Carolingian style architecture. Mass Sundays at 7 o’clock
Flor G — Google review
As one of the most important Romanesque monuments in Germany, the Church of St. Michael is a beautiful example of 11th century architecture. The church rotunda is already fairly unique, based one the holy sepulcher in Jerusalem, as is the cathedral in Aachen. The capitals and frescos point to its medieval past. Make sure to visit the crypt which dates to 820, one of the oldest pieces of architecture in Germany.
Justin B — Google review
Beautiful church, sadly no photos allowed inside. It's not that often you see a church in the round, so it was a good place to explore for a bit.

Stadtschloss Fulda is an extravagant palace that served as the residence for the Prince-Abbots and Prince-Bishops who once governed the diocese of Fulda. This historic site in Fulda, Germany boasts stunning architecture with a rich cultural heritage, making it a popular tourist attraction. The castle's audio guides provide insight into its origins and add to visitors' understanding of this magnificent structure. It is also a sought-after location for weddings.
It is a beautiful place, the castle and the park around it. The castle can be visited and you can admire the architecture.
Pavel S — Google review
Well worth a visit if you happen to visit Fulda. Well restored baroque palace of the former Prince-Abbott, now serving as city council compound. Includes a wonderful porcelain collection from the Fulda Manufactory. They have a leaflet with a map in English but the rest is in German; I guess most Baroque art can be enjoyed without reading the captions.
René M — Google review
I was able to use my student discount to visit the Stadtschloss Fulda, and to be fair, the ticket prices weren't that high. However, navigating the palace was quite challenging as there was no clear guidance, and we ended up getting lost on the upper floors. When we asked about leaving our coats, we were only directed to lockers that required coins. The map we were given at the entrance was very confusing, and since the reception staff only spoke German, we got lost multiple times and didn't even realize we hadn't seen the main part of the palace! We only stumbled upon the main museum area by chance when we opened a random door. On the positive side, the palace was very quiet and not crowded at all, which allowed us to wander around and spend as much time as we wanted. The Stadtschloss itself is a Baroque palace built in the early 18th century as the residence for the Prince-Abbots and later Prince-Bishops of Fulda. It has a rich history, evolving from an earlier abbot's castle.
Nika — Google review
Given the position and importance of the former prince-abbots of Fulda, I expected something more grandiose. There we’re occupied offices where staff worked throughout. The rooms and decor were at times austere. The price of admission was very low less than 4E.
Carl C — Google review
Lovely. They were in the process of landscaping so couldn't get good pics. Climbed the tower and saw a beautiful view as well. Couldn't tour inside the palace as it was closed on Mondays 😞
Kathy J — Google review
Lovely palace. Well-preserved. I'm basing my review not on the beauty of the palace but on the functionality as a museum. Since the building houses city hall and office workers, you have to weave through some office space to see certain sites. There are no descriptions of the rooms or the very few items in the rooms. Not in English. Not in German. None. So I just wander about with a map in my hand to see pretty rooms. Otherwise I really learn nothing. They need to get a real museum curator in there to address the best way to turn a pretty palace into a real museum.
Michael M — Google review
Great place to visit in Fulda Deutschland, it has allot of history and the audio guides helps you understand the origen of this beautiful Castle. It is also use for wedding.

Nestled in the charming city of Fulda, Chaang Noi is a delightful family-run restaurant that invites you to experience the rich flavors of traditional Thai cuisine. Located in a cozy subterranean space, this eatery boasts an inviting patio for those who prefer al fresco dining. Since 2011, Chaang Noi has been dedicated to serving authentic dishes crafted with care and fresh ingredients.
Best Asian restaurant in Fulda. I ordered number 10 soup and noodles. It is very hard to describe but the taste is very appealing. The decoration is very unique. The food is beautifully presented. Need come back several time to try all of the menu.

the best Thai I’ve been for a while! Fantastic and authentic food, high quality ingredients and super nice owner and waiter! Highly recommended 🦾

Big portions of food, nice and friendly service. The price compare to the portion is fair and it is quite delicious. It is pretty busy so I recommend you to book the table.

Making a reservation is definitely a must, especially if you want to dine in in the evening times. Staff: Very friendly and attentive Food: I’d say this is the most authentic Thai Food you can find in Germany. Very authentic and full-flavoured. Absolutely recommend this place! Usually they give you forks and knives, but if you ask for chopsticks you’ll get them too!
Dia M — Google review
One of the best tasting and authentic Thai restaurants we enjoyed. We shared the mixed starter platter with crispy spring rolls and fried chicken. Curry and rice noodles were very good as well as the duck. Liked the Thai Ice coffee and tea. Would visit again for sure!
Joerg K — Google review
I've visited many Thai restaurants in many parts of the world, but this one was a surprise. The food was nothing short of excellent... so much so that a return visit was necessary on my short business trip. The ambiance is nice (both below ground and on their outdoor tables). The service was great. Both of the dishes I tried were lovely (especially after asking for an extra level of spice... British tastes seem spicier than the locals are used to, but even the "standard" spice level is very good). The restaurant was actually very happy to crank up the heat a bit for me to be even more authentic. I will most certainly be visiting again next time I'm in Fulda.
Ali S — Google review
My experience started from a very pushy and unreliable male waiter, continued with waiting for a very long time for a very simple dish that was not only badly cooked but also salty to the point of being inedible, and ended with paying a very high price. I honestly don't know where this high rating came from. I think the salt is part of their scheme to sell overpriced water. What they write on the menu is also lower than what they actually charge, because they don't include tax on it. When I asked they were very sarcastic about it, explaining to me what tax is. Honestly, trust me and don't go. It is not nice to experience all the unhappiness and anger in such a place on your holiday.
Cassandra W — Google review
As others have mentioned, I agree that it’s a very unpleasant experience if you dare to ask them if they have a table without a reservation. I kindly asked if it’s better to reserve (next time) and got a ‘you SHOULD HAVE reserved’. It doesn’t make you want to come back with a reservation. I understand if there is no tables, but if you send me away, you can do it respectfully.

Whitout doubt the best food in the whole of Fulda! It's an old school Restaurant with a classical design and at the same time it has young engaging waiters/waitresses as well as a menu with fantasy for a special balance between old and new. Wide wine selection with some wonderful examples. It may seem pricey at first but it's only in it's league compared to other a la carte restaurants. I definitely recommend it.
Alexandru D — Google review
The quality of the food lived up to the expectations, nothing more, nothing less. The dishes tasted as they should and the service was good. Nice atmosphere as well. Next time I’m in Fulda, I would go there again.

What a treat this is! The good was good, big German plates. Even for me the plates were a bit too much. And it could do with a bit more seasoning for my liking. The restaurant has 3 different area's to sit which makes it very cosy. 2 things that need to change: 1) get a real/good coffee machine. 2) fix/upgrade the gentleman's toilet. It looks like it is falling apart.
Fred O — Google review
If you want to try vegetarian food this one of the best places to go. The food is very tasty and unusual. The waitresses are young and friendly. Because of the small size of the restaurant the atmosphere is very cosy and welcoming. Although I have to mansion that twice we found other guests who found e.g. hair in their food. But for this service was excellent and they changed the food free of charge.

Orange Die Burgermanufaktur is an exceptional establishment located in a highly convenient location, right at the train station. The restaurant's interior design exudes elegance and sophistication. Patrons can enjoy their meals outdoors, which is maintained in a meticulous manner. The staff members are not only friendly but also possess a great sense of humor, creating a delightful atmosphere for customers.
Best burgers in town! A lot of very unique delicious burgers to choose from. If you don't go here, you missed out. The prices are great, sweet potato fries are the hammer. Orange makes their own

Quick and Delicious Burgers with a Convenient Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently visited a burger restaurant near the station in Fulda, and I must say, it was a great place for a great burger. The BBQ Scotch burger and fries I ordered were absolutely delicious. The highlight of my meal was the refreshing and flavorful mint ginger tea. One thing to note is that the prices have increased slightly since the menu was last updated seven months ago, with burgers costing around two euros more. However, considering the quality and taste, it was well worth the price. The BBQ Scotch burger, in particular, priced at 18.95 euros, left me satisfied and content. The service at the restaurant was quick, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The overall ambiance created a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The location of the restaurant, right next to the station, was incredibly convenient for me. It allowed me to enjoy a quick and satisfying burger while waiting for my train. The proximity to the station is definitely a plus for anyone looking for a delicious meal on the go. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this burger restaurant. The mouthwatering BBQ Scotch burger, accompanied by flavorful fries and a delightful mint ginger tea, made for a delightful experience. I look forward to returning to try another burger on my next visit to Fulda.

I had an amazing experience. The restaurant is very central, literally at the train station. It’s really pretty- the decoration is classy. We had our meal outdoors and it was very neat. The stewards are very friendly and funny - my friends and I took great pleasure in ordering. The burgers were really very succulent and the house fries are very tasty too. I definitely recommend I had the raspberry limonade. I loved it because it was not as sweet as the usual home made limonades I will definitely be coming back ☺️
Ghislaine M — Google review
Very good burgers and insanely tasty fries.
Joanna N — Google review
Good burgers at big portions and reasonable prices. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Alexander N — Google review
As an international guest with a broad palate, I found this establishment to be significantly overrated. Perhaps it caters well to local preferences, but from a global culinary standpoint, the flavors fall flat. The burger itself was painfully average , nothing you couldn’t get at a late-night street stand, yet dressed up in pretentious packaging and an inflated price tag. The service was equally underwhelming: cold, dismissive, and bordering on rude. For a place positioning itself as “high-end,” there’s a stark disconnect between the branding and the actual experience. What’s presented as premium dining feels more like a glorified döner shop with better lighting and a hipster playlist. If you’re chasing substance over style, you might want to keep walking.
Tj A — Google review
Burgers! Good ones! Lots of options like double triple or more, huge selection of veggie burgers, and a surprising choice of sauces for every taste. Even habanero sauces (I love that). Medium done as a burger should be. Belgian style fries. Waiters are very attentive and kind. Ambient relaxed and very very fast service.
Jürgen S — Google review
Perfect for a quick bite and drink while waiting for your train. Located directly next to the main train stations. They have great burgers, drinks and also lemonade. Outside terrace in front of the restaurant.
