We wanted to go around these famous ponds, but it was raining and the ground was muddy. We only went to the one closest to the carpark, Yanaginuma Pond. It was still beautiful, but felt this was not fully experience here.

Absolutely beautiful hiking spot. You can easily walk along multiple lake on foot. Round trip to the parking spot can be adult done in 2hrs or less. No need to have heavy hiking gear and can be done with small children too. There are few boat rental and cafe and restaurant too. Parking was free. Totally recommended.

Nice place to have a rest stop, find a snack and take a break from driving. Lots of parking! It is as harvest time so fresh fruits and vegetables were for sale.

we stopped by at this road station to find some souvenirs. They had a wide range of local veggies, fruits, delicacies and folk crafts. Some food stalls such as grilled local fish.

Went out of our way to come to this road station to get back near some snow for the kids. There was plenty of snow and it was a nice quiet place with clean facilities. We came here in early December and the scenery was amazing. Everything was dusted white with snow! A nice Michi no eki. Probs perfect of you were in a camper like us and venturing to a ski slope nearby. There was also an onsen 5 minutes down the road to get cleaned up and warm.

Went here for skiing. Very unsatisfied. The ski area is small and poorly planned with very little variation. Felt like I overpaid for what I was getting. We googled and found Grandeco is 45 minutes away from us. It was a blue bird day. The runs are wide and it's perfect for beginners to take lessons and practice. Perfect for a chill ride day.

4hours from Tokyo by car but we’ll worth it! It is behind Mt Bandai about 20km and the last few km’s are very deep in the backcountry…but the snow is that much better! Snow Scoots and Snow Moto’s are 100% welcome here. They even rent the latest Snow Moto models with several board options. View my pic to see the pricing. They even had one with the Shark Super carving board! Only downside is that the Gondala is very small and old. It was a real challenge to get my ride inside and they even stopped the Gondala to allow me enough time to squeeze in. So I only tried this once…there were 2 hi-speed covered quad lifts that were just as fast, so I did not miss out. This is a Tokyu Resort and the hotel was reasonably priced with a Onsen/spa. Next time I will stay here to enjoy the great snow!

Excellent resort with fantastic facilities and a large area to explore. Plenty of terrain for beginners and intermediates. Staff are friendly and you can get by with English. Some of the on mountain signage for trails are also in English which makes navigation simple. Stunning views of My Bandai, the lake and surrounds from the top. Food on the mountain is good and not entirely overpriced like most resorts. Rental was a breeze with English forms and friendly experienced staff. Highly recommend it!

About 3.5 hours drive from Tokyo, it is worth the trip. The view of lake Inawashiro and the surrounding area is superb. Snow Scoot’s and Snow Moto’s are 100% welcome here. The longest run is about 3km! Only downside was that the Gondola was not operating…not sure why. Hoshino Resorts also owns Nekoma Ski resort on the backside of Mt Bandai and they a connected by a short 15 minute hike. Nekoma is on the shadow/back side and the snow is very different from the Alta Bandai frontside.

First season of snowboarding and this resort lived up to it's promise of having some amazing fresh power. There are many paths to go down from and an eating place down some lifts in the middle of the mountain. The reception was poor but such amazing scenery of the mountains and lake from certain areas.

It is a ski resort that can be reached in about 3 hours from the Tokyo metropolitan area using the Bullet train. Ease of access is attractive above all. I felt that it is not for wealthy people like Niseko, but for families, children and young people. Lift tickets are also cheap. There are plenty of activities for people who don't ski or snowboard, as well as beginners. Shopping needs to go down the mountain. I recommend the crepe you can eat at the Yama cafe!

We had a lovely stay in this wonderful Italian albergo for 5 nights in February 2025. The location worked well for us, midway between several ski fields. Il Regalo is a delight, a small family-run hotel with 6 rooms above the restaurant, just like in Italy. The owner was so kind and helpful to us. In broken english he would recommend ski fields and sell us discounted lift tickets. He is also an absolute Italophile and the entire property is decked out in Italian ceramics and souvenirs. The Italian food and wine for dinner makes a great change and the breakfasts (included) were excellent - an offering of salad, fruit and yoghurt, a daily hot dish and pastries. We had a very large, comfortable corner bedroom with a nice view out the back of the property. The carpet was badly stained, otherwise the room was clean and serviced daily, Even the king bed sheets were changed daily! We stored our skis and dried our boots in front of a heater in the small foyer. The excessive snow was cleared from the carpark twice a day.

Good food. Thin and crispy pizza, the missus had spicy salami penne arrabiata. Granted there is very little in the area for dinner options but miles better than the garbage served at our nearby hotel’s “izakaya”. Not so expensive, a pasta dish, pizza, cheese platter, bread and dipping oil n balsamico and 3 glasses of wine for around ¥7000.

This place was AMAZING. We came after a hike and the owner was so nice! all the staff was amazing! And the food was spectacular. Our favorite was the waygu pasta, where the meat quite literally MELTED in our mouth. The espresso may have been the best i've had in quite a while, and all the desserts were 10/10. Definitely recommend the matcha panacada. If your in the area its a must try!

There are not many restaurants in Urabandai area. And this Italian restaurant serves really nice food. Taste was also quite good and because of the fresh mountain vegetables the taste felt even better.
